ABS SENSOR IN REAR DIFFERENTIAL FAILED AFFECTING THE ABILITY OF THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM TO FUNCTION. WELL KNOWN PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET IDENTIFYING FRAYED WIRES TO THE ABS SENSOR. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD 3 SENSOR FAILURES.
RECALL OF CONTROL ARMS: PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER 2015. 1/22/16 IN THE EVENING, MY 16 YEAR OLD SON HAD JUST GOTTEN OFF THE HIGHWAY AND WAS COMING INTO TOWN (AT 25 MPH THANKFULLY), FELT A JERK AND HEARD A NOISE. PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY. BOTTOM LINE, THE CONTROL ARMS WERE RUSTED THE WHOLE WAY THROUGH...RECALL ISSUE. I CALLED THEM AND THEY SAID THEY WOULD PAY FOR TOW. I HAVE TRIED RELENTLESSLY (SOMETIMES NICELY AND SOMETIMES NOT SO NICELY) TO GET THEM TO PAY FOR THE 2 DAY RENTAL THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR WHILE THE TRUCK WAS IN THE SHOP. THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T BECAUSE IT WAS OUTSIDE THEIR "PARAMETERS". I UNDERSTAND, BUYER BEWARE, CHECK RECALLS ETC BEFORE PURCHASING. THEY MAY OR MAY NOT (TYPICALLY NOT FROM WHAT I AM READING) PROVIDE YOU WITH ACCEPTABLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. THE INCONVENIENCE IS TYPICAL, THAT'S LIFE. BUT FOR ME TO HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THEIR SUB PAR EQUIPMENT.....NOT ACCEPTABLE. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WAS FRIENDLY AND AS HELPFUL AS THEY COULD BE CONSIDERING ALL THEY REALLY NEEDED TO DO WAS FIX THE RECALL ITEM (I DID HAVE THEM REPAIR ANOTHER SEPARATE ISSUE AT MY COST). THEY WERE QUICK TO GET IT REPAIRED. I DEALT WITH AARON AND THOUGHT HE WAS PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED INJURY OR EVEN DEATH TO MY SON, ESPECIALLY IF HE HAD BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY LIKE HAD JUST A FEW MINUTES EARLIER. I HAVE A HARD TIME ACCEPTING THAT $100.00 IS GOING TO BE THE DIFFERENCE IN GOOD AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR THEM. THIS IS THEIR CASE # 28638056
DRIVER SIDE HEATED SEAT GOT SO HOT IT MELTED SOMETHING INSIDE THE SEAT AND CAUSING A BURN ON LEATHER AND RIGHT SIDE OF DRIVERS BUTT , LEAVING BLISTERS FROM THE BURN. THIS ALL HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING IN THE SNOW STORM 2 WEEKS AGO.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS WITH AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR TIRE REPLACEMENT, THE TECHNICIAN NOTICE THAT THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER FRONT UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINT WERE FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,239.
IGNITION SWITCH PROBLEMS-CAR FRONT HEAD LIGHTS AND DASH BOARD LIGHTS ARE CONTINUOUS BLINKING ON AND OFF AND BLOWING OUT CONSTANTLY. THIS INCIDENCE HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE OPERATING MY VEHICLE BEING ON THE HIGHWAY OR SIDE STREETS, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION WHO LOCATED THAT THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT FRACTURED. BECAUSE THERE WAS NO CORROSION, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FRONT BALL JOINT WOULD NOT BE REPLACED UNDER THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ACCORDING TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V288000 (SUSPENSION), BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 164,798. *JS
ACCIDENT ON 12-8-2015. WAS HIT IN FRONT END. I WAS STATIONARY AND CAR TRAVELLING ABOUT 35 MPH HIT ME ON RIGHT FRONT END. AIR BAG DEPLOYED BUT THE SEAT BELT DIDN'T HOLD AT ALL. THE BELT WAS ON AND LOCKED, BUT THE RETRACT MECHANISM DID NOT LOCK OR PRETENSION AT ALL. MY BODY FLEW FORWARD AND HEAD HIT THE WINDSHIELD CAUSING HEAD INJURY.

TRYING TO GET LETTER OF COMPLIANCE ON AN ENGLISH JEEP SAYING IT MEETS US MIN. SAFETY STANDARD. I HAVE CALLED SEVERAL NUMBERS AND KEEP BEING SENT TO ANOTHER NUMBER. THE CAR WAS BUILT IN ONIO BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHERE TO GET THIS INFORMATION. CAN YOU HELP ME?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE LOWER CONTROL ARM SUDDENLY FRACTURED AND RENDERED THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS EXAMINED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM FRACTURED DUE TO RUST AND CORROSION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, A POPPING NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO FAILED BALL JOINTS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 162,000.
ELECTRIC WINDOWS FAIL OFTEN. REAR SUSPENSION BEARINGS FAIL CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL. BALL JOINT FAIL WEARING TIE ROD AND CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE REAR END WILL SWERVE UNCONTROLLABLY AND SUDDENLY.
WHILE DISPENSING FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE AT A FILLING STATION THE FUEL GUSHES FROM THE FILL PORT PRIOR TO THE TANK BEING FULL. THE FUEL CONTINUES TO COME OUT FOR A FEW SECOND AFTER THE FUEL DISPENSING IS STOPPED. THIS IS COMPLETELY UN SAFE, WASTEFUL AND CREATES AN EMISSIONS ISSUE AT EVERY FILL UP.
THE CAR DOES NOT SHUT OFF FUELING WHEN THE GAS TANK IS FULL, CAUSING A LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS TO SPEW OUT OF THE CAR WHEN FILLING GAS EVERY TIME. CAUSES GASOLINE TO GO EVERYWHERE, IS A FIRE HAZARD. (IT IS NOT JUST A LITTLE BIT OF GAS, THE CAR IS TURNED OFF, AT THE GAS PUMP AND AT THE GAS STATION.)
10/5/2015 - RIGHT FRONT TIRE FELL OFF WHILE TURNING INTO DRIVEWAY - BOLTS SHEARED

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION ARM FRACTURED ON THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. FUEL OVERFLOWS FROM FILLER AFTER AUTO-SHUTOFF OF PUMP OCCURS. OCCURS EVERY TIME FUELING OPERATIONS OCCURS REGARDLESS OF FUEL STATION. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ISSUE BUT NO SERVICE BULLETINS OR RECALLS. POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD.
WHEN SHIFTING MY JEEP FROM 1ST TO 2ND IT SOMETIMES MAKES A GRINDING NOISE. I BROUGHT IT TO MY MECHANIC TODAY AND HE TOOK IT FOR A RIDE. HE TOLD ME THAT HE THINKS IT'S A LITTLE BALL INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION THAT IS COVERED WITH NYLON, AND A COUPLE OF FORKS MAKE IT MOVE. HE IS GOING TO TRY CHANGING MY TRANSMISSION FLUID TO A SYNTHETIC BRAND IN HOPES THAT WILL SLOW DOWN THE WEAR ON THE NYLON BALL, BUT EVENTUALLY I WILL NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION. I ASKED HIM WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN THE BALL FINALLY BREAKS, AND HE TOLD ME THE VEHICLE WILL CEASE TO MOVE, RATHER I AM DRIVING IT OR NOT. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS PROBLEM IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH JEEPS. IF THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH JEEPS THEN WHY HAVEN'T THEY BEEN RECALLED AND/OR FIXED?
VEHICLE ABRUPTLY DISENGAGES FROM 1ST GEAR (6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION). OCCURS AT ANY SPEED IN FIRST GEAR AND IS UNPREDICTABLE. ALSO HAS POPPED OUT OF FIRST GEAR AFTER SHUTOFF AND STATIONARY. NO RECALLS OR SERVICE BULLETINS RELATING TO THIS ISSUE.
I OWN A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY THAT HAS BEEN RECALLED DUE TO THE FUEL TANK HAS A CHANCE OF EXPERIENCING A FUEL LEAK DURING CERTAIN TYPES OF REAR END COLLISIONS. I HAVE RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT HAVE TO MAKE THE REPAIRS DUE TO THE CAR HAVING A RECONSTRUCTED TITLE. I AM CHECKING WITH YOUR AGENCY TO FIND OUT IF THAT IS THE TRUTH. I HAVE HAD RECALL WORK DONE IN THE PAST WITHOUT THIS ISSUE ARISING.

SUSPENSION ISSUE. IT APPEARS THAT THE FRONT END TO BE COMING LOOSE. LOTS OF NOISE SUCH AS GRINDING,ETC. I STOPPED AT GARAGE AND HAD THEM OUT IT ON A LIFT FOR INSPECTION. THE DETERMINATION WAS THAT THE FRONT, LEFT AND RIGHT, UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS ARE DEFECTIVE. UPON INSPECTION BY THE MECHANIC, AND BY ME VISUALLY, IT APPEARS TO BE PREMATURE WEAR. MECHANIC SUSPECTS A PRODUCT DEFECT, AS DO I. I CHECKED NHTSA OFFICIAL SITE FOR RECALLS. MULTIPLE RECALLS FOR THIS SUSPENSION ISSUE. SEAT BELT DRIVER'S SIDE LATCHING MECHANISM BETWEEN THE SEAT AND CONSOLE STICKS INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES IT TAKES MULTIPLE EFFORTS TO DISCONNECT THE SEAL BELT SO THAT DRIVER MAY EXIT THE VEHICLE. DEALER CLAIMS THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THIS ITEM AND NO WARRANTY. CURRENT MILEAGE ON VEHICLE IS 74,400 MILES. ELECTRICAL POWER WINDOW ASSEMBLIES. ALL FOUR ASSEMBLIES HAVE BEEN REPLACED. DURING THE FIRST YEAR OF OWNERSHIP (BOUGHT NEW IN 2005) BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT FRONT WINDOW ASSEMBLIES WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, SINCE THEN ALL FOUR ASSEMBLIES (FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES, AND REAR DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT THE EXPENSE OF THE OWNER. THIS IS A MULTIPLE OCCURRING PROBLEM AND IN MY ESTIMATION SEEMS TO BE A PRODUCT DESIGN AND MANUFACTURING PROBLEM.
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE NEAR FORT WORTH THE LEFT REAR WINDOW JUST FELL DOWN THE DOOR. IT DISTRACTED ME AND I ALMOST CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN PRESSURE CHANGE IN THE CAR. I SORTA PANICKED SINCE THE BABY IN THE BACK SEAT BEGAN CRYING SINCE THE WINDOW WAS ON HER SIDE IN THE BACK SEAT. AFTER CONTACTING SEVERAL JEEP OWNERS, I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOWS ON JEEPS AND IT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED TO THE RIGHT SIDE WINDOW LAST YEAR. I USED A ZIP TIE TO KEEP THE WINDOW UP. I SAW A YOUTUBE VIDIO ON HOW TO DO THIS. SINCE THE RIGHT SIDE WINDOW HAS A ZIP TIE HOLDING IT UP I NO LONGER USE THAT WINDOW. I THINK THAT JEEP SHOULD CONSIDER RECALLING THIS PROBLEM SINCE EVENTUALLY SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT INDEPENDENTLY. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS RELEASED, THE VEHICLE VEERED INDEPENDENTLY TO THE LEFT. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO CORRECT THE VEHICLE USING THE STEERING WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
MY AIR BAG LIGHT HAS COME ON AND WILL NOT TURN OFF. I HAVE NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS WHERE THIS SHOULD OCCUR. I NOTICED THEY ARE FIXING OTHER YEARS FOR THIS PROBLEM BUT IT SEEMS MY YEAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED.
HEAD LIGHT AND INTERIOR LIGHTS: I HAVE BEEN HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COMING ON AND OFF AT RANDOM TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS AT NIGHT, HOWEVER IT HAS HAPPENED DURING THE DAY ALSO. LAST NIGHT I WAS DRIVING APPROX. 57 MILES PER HOUR AT 9:30 PM WHEN THE HEAD LIGHTS FLICKERED TWICE. AFTER THAT THE LIGHTS WENT OUT, I SLOWED DOWN AND PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND THEY CAME ON AGAIN. I THEN STARTED DRIVING AND THEY DID IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. I THEN PUT ON THE FOG LIGHTS AND PRAYED I MAKE IT TO WORK WITHOUT CRASHING. I LIVE IN THE COUNTRY SO WHEN THE LIGHTS GO OUT IT'S DARK. I DO NOT WANT TO RISK MY LIFE WITH THIS PROBLEM. I PURCHASED MY JEEP LIBERTY NEW AND I'VE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH IT. I USE MY VEHICLE TO GO TO WORK AND I WORK NIGHTS SO IT'S IMPERATIVE IT'S SAFE AND IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ENGINE MISFIRED. AS A RESULT, THE SPARK PLUGS AND ENGINE AIR FILTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE OIL WAS CHANGED AS WELL; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BECAUSE IT SHOOK WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PSI WAS VERY LOW. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
AFTER DRIVING MY JEEP FOR ABOUT 20 MINUTES IT WILL START GOING IN AND OUT OF LIMP MODE THEN IT WILL DOWNSHIFT HARD TO 3RD GEAR AND WILL REV THE ENGINE UNTIL IT IS SHUT OFF AND STARTED AGAIN. I AM NO LONGER DRIVING IT AND AM DEBATING ON WHETHER OR NOT TO FIX IT AS I JUST DUMPED OVER $3000. FOR ENGINE. THIS CAR SEEMS TO BE A WALKING TIME BOMB
FUEL OVERFLOW WHEN FILLING UP, SPILLS GAS EVERYWHERE.
ON 6/5/2015, WHILE ON THE FREEWAY, THE DASHBOARD WENT CRAZY. ENGINE AND AIRBAG LIGHTS FLASHED, FUEL, TEMPERATURE, AND SPEED GAUGES WENT DEAD (ZERO), AIR CONDITIONING STOPPED. I DROVE STRAIGHT TO THE ELK GROVE DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY WERE UNABLE TO FIND WHAT WAS WRONG. UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THE COMPUTER MEMORY DID NOT SHOWED THEM ANYTHING. THEY PERFORMED THE 120K SERVICE INSTEAD. ON 6/18/2015, WHILE DRIVING AT 15MPH IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS TIME, I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TOOK A VIDEO OF THE DASHBOARD, AND AGAIN DROVE TO THE ELK GROVE DEALERSHIP. AS OF TODAY, THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE/FIND WHAT IS WRONG. THEY KNOW IS A CONTROL MODULE, BUT DO NOT KNOW WHICH ONE. SINCE OTHER JEEP MODELS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR PROBLEMS HAVE BEEN SUBJECT TO RECALL, I WANT TO KNOW WHY NOT FOR THE 2005 MODEL. I FEAR FOR MY SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF DRIVERS AROUND ME SHOULD THIS CONTROL MODULE KILLS THE ENGINE WHILE I AM ON THE FREEWAY. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION WHILE THE CAR IS HELD HOSTAGE FOR OBSERVATION. THIS MODULE HAS A FACTORY OR DESIGN DEFECT THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED BY JEEP!
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF BUT THE GAS IS ALREADY POURING OUT OF THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE DOESN'T SHUT OFF AND IT OVER FILLS THE GAS AND IT RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. WE BOUGHT THIS SECOND HAND AND NOT SURE IF THERE WAS EVERY A RECALL ON IT?
AS I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT I SUDDENLY HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND NOTICED MY BACK WHEELS ACTING STRANGE. I THOUGHT IT WAS A FLAT TIRE SO I PARKED AND CHECKED MY REAR TIRES. EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE SO I GOT WHAT I HAD COME FOR THEN GOT BACK ON THE ROAD. THE NOISE AND DIFFICULTY STEERING WERE STILL THERE THOUGH SO I PULLED OVER AGAIN AND LOOKED UNDER THE REAR TIRES. THE REAR CONTROL ARM ON THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKEN. I COULDN'T BELIEVE A CAR WITH LESS THAN 70,000 MILES ON IT COULD HAVE A PART COMPLETELY RUST THROUGH LIKE THAT SO I CHECKED ALL THE RECALLS ON THE LIBERTY MODEL. NOT SURPRISINGLY THERE WAS A RECALL DUE TO EXCESSIVE RUST ON THE VERY PART THAT HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT ON MY VEHICLE. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS SAFETY RECALL THOUGH BECAUSE I DON'T LIVE IN ONE OF THE STATES WHERE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED. THE STATES WHERE THE RECALL WAS ISSUED GET SNOW IN THE WINTER AND SALT IS USUALLY USED TO CLEAR THE STREETS. THAT IS WHY THESE STATES WERE IN THE RECALL. I LIVE IN NEBRASKA THOUGH, A STATE THAT GETS NEARLY AS MUCH SNOW AS IOWA, MISSOURI, AND MINNESOTA (THREE STATES THAT WERE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL) AND YET IF YOU LIVE IN MY STATE YOU ARE NOT INFORMED OF THE RECALL AND YOU DO NOT GET THE PARTS REPLACED. IF I HAD NOT BEEN PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT AT THE MOMENT THE REAR CONTROL ARM HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND BROKEN THE INCIDENT COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. I COULD HAVE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY OR A BUSY STREET AND EASILY LOST CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. SINCE MY STATE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL MY SAFETY (AND THE SAFETY OF OTHER DRIVERS) WAS PUT AT RISK AND I WILL NOW BE OUT $600. *TR
IN MAY 2015 THE ENGINE SEIZED/FAILED ON MY 2005 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED WHICH HAD 132,026 MILES. APPARENTLY, THIS IS COMMON FOR JEEPS THIS OLD AND WITH MANY MILES ON THEM. A REMANUFACTURED ENGINE INSTALLED WAS ABOUT $4,500; NOT WORTH IT.
EVERY TIME MY WIFE OR I FILL UP THE GAS TANK, GAS SPRAYS EVERYWHERE AS THE AUTO-SHUT-OFF DOES NOT WORK. THE GAS TANK OVER-FILLS EVERY SINGLE TIME AND GAS SPEWS EVERYWHERE, GETTING ON ME, DOWN THE SIDE OF MY JEEP, AND ALL OVER THE GROUND. THIS IS A MAJOR HAZARD AND COULD ULTIMATELY END UP IN AN EXPLOSION. TO ACT AS ADDITIONAL SUPPORT, THE FACT THAT GAS SPRAYS EVERYWHERE IS AGAINST THE LAW THAT CAN BE FOUND ON THE STICKERS AT EVERY GAS STATION GAS PUMP FOR HOW TO "OPERATE" THE GAS PUMP AND HOW TO "FILL-UP" CORRECTLY. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL IMMEDIATELY AS I KNOW THERE ARE MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO EXPERIENCE THIS SAME ISSUE. ALSO, THE ONLY REASON WHY I STATED THE PROBLEM BEGAN AT 147,000 MILES IS BECAUSE THAT WAS THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WHEN I PURCHASED IT USED.
THIS IS A SAFETY COMPLAINT ON A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY COMPLAINT FOR THE 3 RECALLS. BALL JOINTS, TRAILER HITCH AND CONTROL ARMS. ON THIS DAY I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO TRANSITOWNE IN WILLIAMSVILLE, NY FOR THE RECALLS, I NEVER RECEIVED THE BALL JOINT RECALL PREVIOUSLY. MY VEHICLE WAS SAFE, NO NOISE, NO PROBLEMS AND WAS CURRENTLY IN MINT CONDITION MECHANICALLY AND OTHERWISE. I DROPPED IT OFF THURSDAY NIGHT 5/7/2015 TO BE WORKED ON 7/8/2015. THEY CALLED THE MORNING OF 7/8/2015 TO SAY THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETE. AS I DROVE HOME THE WHEEL SHAKES AND FRONT END MAKES NOISE WHILE BRAKING AND SOUNDS LOOSE. I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED IT, THEY WERE RUDE AND AFTER MY OBVIOUS FRUSTRATION FINALLY DECIDED TO TAKE A TEST DRIVE. WHEN SAL, THE SERVICE COORDINATOR CAME BACK AND ACTUALLY ADMITTED (WITH A WITNESS) I WAS ONE IN A MILLION THAT RECEIVED BAD BALL JOINTS BUT THAT THEY DON'T HAVE ANY MORE I WOULD HAVE TO WAIT. I EXPLAINED WHEN BRAKING SOMETHING IS RUBBING, STEERING IS SHAKY AND MAKES A CLUNK NOISE FROM BALL JOINTS. THEY LET ME DRIVE AWAY WITH A VEHICLE THAT IS UNSAFE. LOOSE BALL JOINTS WITH ANY PLAY IN THEM CAN RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT. THEY OFFERED NO RENTAL, NO HELP AND IGNORE ME. I HAVE MY OWN BUSINESS (SOLE) AND CANNOT DRIVE IT, I DON'T TRUST IT AND IT CANNOT BE DRIVEN TO KAYAKING. MY ENTIRE WEEKEND WAS RUINED NOT TO MENTION I CANNOT DRIVE A NOISY, DANGEROUS VEHICLE. THEY DID NOT REPLACE THE TRAILER HITCH EVEN THOUGH IT'S 10 YEARS OLD (I PUT IT ON MYSELF) DID NOT COME WITH THE JEEP, AND IT'S WELDS ARE RUSTY AND BRITTLE, THEY DID NOT CARE ABOUT THAT EITHER. JUST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION ONCE I GOT HOME AND PARKED THE CAR. PLAYED WITH IT FOR APPROX. 30 MIN. AND THEN THE KEY CAME OUT. DROVE THE CAR A SECOND TIME AND PARKED THE VEHICLE AND COULD NOT GET THE KEY OUT. I WENT INTO THE HOUSE AND WAITED APPROX. 30 MIN. WAS THEN ABLE TO TURN THE IGNITION TO CLICK AND LINE UP AND GET THE KEY OUT. THE IGNITION DOES NOT ALLOW YOU TO MAKE THE FINAL CLICK ONCE IN PARK TO GET THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION. THE RADIATOR ON THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPLACED TIMES IN THE 8 YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT. IT HAS 7 RECALLS, THE WINDOW ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IS BROKEN, THE SENSORS IN THE ENGINE HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE. THE RADIATOR IS PLASTIC AND LOOKS LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A BUBBLE GUM MACHINE. IT ALSO HAS A PLASTIC COOLING FAN, NOT METAL, WHICH ALSO BROKE. I HAVE PUT AS MUCH MONEY IN THIS VEHICLE AS I PAID FOR IT. THE BRAKES ARE HORRID AND GO OUT CONSTANTLY. I ONLY HAVE A 5 MILE COMMUTE TO WORK. THE VEHICLE IS SERVICED ON A REGULAR BASIS. IT IS A HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. I GOT THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE WE HAD OWNED SEVERAL JEEPS AND LIKED THEM. THIS VEHICLE IS ALWAYS BREAKING DOWN. THE FAN DOESN'T WORK ON THE HEATER EXCEPT ON HIGH. TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, WE HAVE TRIED TO HAVE A RECALL ( N46/NHTSA 13V-252) SCHEDULED AND FIXED NUMEROUS TIMES WITH CHRYSLER DEALERS IN THE AREA, ONLY TO GET ANSWERS THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS AND THAT THEY CAN'T COMPLETE THE RECALL. IN THE MEANTIME WE HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL SAFETY RECALLS REGARDING THIS MATTER. WE DON'T KNOW HOW WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THIS FIXED AS IT SEEMS NOBODY WANT TO DO IT. AFTER MAKING A LEFT TURN, I HEARD A POP, AS I GAINED SPEED THE VEHICLE WANDERED TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. I WAS JUST A FEW BLOCKS FROM MY HOME WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK HOME VERY SLOWLY. ONCE I PARKED MY JEEP IN THE GARAGE I WAS ABLE TO LOOK IT OVER CAREFULLY AND FOUND THE DRIVER SIDE REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM RUSTED THRU. THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR CONTROL ARM WAS ALSO VERY RUSTY AND APPEARED TO BE READY TO BREAK. I WAS ABLE TO TRAILER THE JEEP TO OVERLAND PARK KANSAS JEEP DEALER TO REPLACE BOTH REAR LOWER CONTROL ARMS. I LIVE IN KANSAS AND WORK IN KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THE RECALL ON THIS PART DID NOT APPLY TO KANSAS. I DO HAVE A PHOTO OF THE RUST AND BROKEN REAR CONTROL ARM. *TR
