I HAVE RECEIVED 3 OF THE SAME RECALL NOTICES (N46 / NHTSA 13V-252) FROM CHRYSLER DATING BACK TO 3/2014. I HAVE FOLLOWED THE NOTICES DIRECTIONS BY CONTACTING TWO OF MY LOCAL DEALERS TO OBTAIN PARTS AND SERVICE. EACH TIME I CALL (USUALLY EVERY 2 WEEKS), I AM TOLD THAT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE YET AND TO KEEP CHECKING BACK. I BELIEVE THAT THIS RESOLUTION IS TAKING MORE THAN A "REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME" AS IT IS NOW ALMOST OCTOBER. I AM TRYING TO BE PATIENT, BUT IF THIS DEFECT WAS IMPORTANT ENOUGH TO TRIGGER A RECALL, IT'S IMPORTANT ENOUGH FOR CHRYSLER TO MAKE THESE PARTS AVAILABLE ASAP. MY FAMILY'S SAFETY IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME AND I FEEL LIKE CHRYSLER IS ABANDONING THEIR CUSTOMERS AND DEALERS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FOR RECALL NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V252000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, STRUCTURE). HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
RECEIVED NOTICE ON N46 RECALL THAT HITCH WAS AVAILABLE TO INSTALL TO TAKE CARE OF GAS TANK ISSUE. CALLED LOCAL DEALER LOCHMANDY MOTORS OF ELKHART INDIANA TO SET UP DATE AND TIME. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A CLASS 2 HITCH WITH A 2" RECEIVER. I SAID I WAS REMOVING MY OLD HITCH THAT WAS GETTING RUSTY . HE SAID HE HAD TO ORDER PART AND I WILL HAVE TO MAKE THE APPOINTMENT WHEN IT CAME IN. IT CAME IN AND I MADE THE APPOINTMENT FOR INSTALL AND AGAIN QUESTIONED THE RATING AND RECEIVED THE SAME ANSWER. I STOPPED IN 3 DAYS BEFORE MY APPOINTMENT TO TAKE A LOOK AT THE HITCH AND I WAS SHOWN THE HITCH AND WAS TOLD IT IS NOT MEANT TO BE USED TO TOW. I QUESTIONED THIS AND WAS TOLD HE KNOWS I TOW AND AND LONG AS I DO NOT TRY TO TOW AS BIG AS A HOUSE LIKE SOME PEOPLE DO, THEN I SHOULD BE FINE. I WAS AGAIN TOLD IT WAS A CLASS 2 AND WE BOTH MENTIONED WE SEE THE 2" RECEIVER. ON DAY OF INSTALL I CALLED CHRYSLER MAIN OFFICE DIRECTLY TO FIND OUT THE RATINGS AND THEY SAID "NO" IT NOT MEANT TO BE USED TO TOW AND IT IS JUST STRUCTURAL. SHE SAID THE DEALER KNOWS THIS AND THEY HAVE A TAG THEY PLACE ON THE HITCH AFTER INSTALL STATING THIS AND I MUST SIGN OFF ON THIS. AT THE TIME I LOOKED AT THE HITCH AT THE DEALER BEFORE INSTALL HE SAID THERE IS NO TAG AND 1 WILL PLACED ON IT AFTER INSTALL. I CALLED LOCHMANDY MOTORS RIGHT BACK AND TOLD THEM TO REMOVE IT FROM MY JEEP. THE PUBLIC AND NHTSA ARE BEING MISLEAD BY CHRYSLER AND THE DEALER AND SOME ONE IS GOING TO GET HURT TRYING TO TOW WITH THIS UNIT. HOW MANY PEOPLE WITH DISREGARD THE LABEL OR HAVE IT REMOVED AND THEN THE NEXT OWNER PAYS THE PRICE. CHRYSLER KNOWS THIS WILL HAPPEN. I WILL AGAIN HAVE TO SPEND MONEY FOR AN AFTERMARKET PART TO FIX A CHRYSLER FATAL DEATH ISSUE. *TR

2005 JEEP LIBERTY WITH DIESEL ENGINE. ORIGINAL ENGINE DIED WITH ONLY 110,000 MILES. CHRYSLER OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THIS FALL LESS THAN FOUR YEARS LATER THE NEW REPLACEMENT ENGINE FAILED WITH ONLY 62,000 MILES. I WAS INSTRUCTED BY CHRYSLER CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE TO SEND CAR TO CHRYSLER DEALER BEFORE THEY WOULD DISCUSS MY ISSUES. THE CHRYSLER DEALER I WAS TOLD TO USE BROKE DOWN THE ENGINE ONLY TO TELL ME THEIR DIAGNOSIS IS "ENGINE IS BLOWN" CHRYSLER THEN REFUSED TO ASSIST AND I'M OUT $1060 FOR A DIAGNOSIS I DIDN'T NEED. I KNEW MY ENGINE WAS BLOWN THE DAY IT HAPPENED. I AM LOOKING FOR SOME ASSISTANCE ON REPAIRS AND DON'T THINK I'M OUT OF LINE THINKING CHRYSLER SHOULD PAY FOR ALL REPAIRS BUT I'M BEING REALISTIC IN THINKING THEY WON'T. *TR
2010 ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITH ONLY 105,000 MILES. I HAD REPLACED THE EGR VALVE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY WHEN CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. PERFORMED REGULAR OIL CHANGES UP UNTIL THE ENGINE FAILED. NEW REPLACEMENT ENGINE WAS INSTALLED IN 2010. IN SEPTEMEBER 2014 ENGINE FAILED AGAIN ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 55 MPH. ENGINE WAS DIAGNOSED BY CHRYSLER DEALER AS ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO OVER HEATED ROCKER ARM, CAM SHAFT AND LIFTERS. CHRYSLER IS NOT OFFERING ANY ASSISTANCE THIS SECOND TIME AROUND. I AM ALSO OUT $1060 DOLLARS PAYABLE TO THE DEALER FOR THEIR DIAGNOSIS TELLING ME SOMETHING I ALREADY KNEW. CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE HAD TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER BEFORE THEY WOULD DISCUSS ANY POTENTIAL FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. NOW THAT THE DIAGNOSIS IS ENGINE FAILURE THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO PROVIDE ANY AIDE. INFORMATION I HAVE BEEN GATHERING INDICATES THIS WAS NOT A GOOD ENGINE IN EITHER THE 2005 OR 2006 LIBERTYS. I NEED SOME HELP PURSING HELP FROM CHRYSLER. PLEASE ADVISE. *TR
MAKING A LEFT TURN ONTO A MAJOR ROUTE AT 30 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE TAKES OFF ON IT'S OWN AND BEGINS TO SWERVE PICKING UP SPEED WHILE BOTH MY FEET ARE OFF OF THE PEDALS. IT HITS ONE CONCRETE WALL ON A BRIDGE AND PROCEEDS TO CROSS YELLOW LINE PICKING UP MORE SPEED BEFORE SMASHING STRAIGHT INTO OTHER CONCRETE WALL. IT'S THE ONLY THING THAT STOPPED THIS VEHICLE FROM CONTINUING ON. AIR BAGS WENT OFF AND SPLIT EXPELLING STRANGE ODOR. A JEEP DEALER COMMENTED THAT EITHER A SENSOR WENT OR ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD STUCK. I COULD NOT STRAIGHTEN THE VEHICLE OUT BY STEERING AT ALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. AFTER REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED FUEL LEAKING FROM THE FUEL TANK. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE ODOR OF FUEL WAS PRESENT IN AND AROUND THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE AUTHORIZED DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS WAITING FOR A REMEDY TO BE DETERMINED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V252000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, STRUCTURE); HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SPECIFIC DATE FOR WHEN THE PART WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
MY JEEP LIBERTY IS INCLUDED IN THE MASSIVE JEEP RECALL OF VEHICLES THAT MAY EXPERIENCE A FIRE IN THE EVENT OF A REAR END COLLISION. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW HOW MUCH LONGER I HAVE TO WAIT TO RECEIVE THE REPLACEMENT EQUIPMENT, OR DO I NEED TO LEAVE MY FAMILY WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO FILE A LAWSUIT IN THE EVENT THAT I AM INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND BURNED TO DEATH IN MY CAR. *TR
I AM A FLEET MANAGER WITH THE COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION. WE POSSESS SEVERAL OF THESE RECALLED VEHICLES. THE RECALL STATES THAT THE FUEL TANK IS VULNERABLE TO FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE EVENT OF A REAR END COLLISION. CHRYSLER'S FIX IS TO INSTALL A TRAILER HITCH TO SERVE AS ADDITIONAL STRUCTURAL REINFORCEMENT. I RECEIVED THREE RECALL NOTICES SOME MONTHS AGO. THOSE NOTICES STATED THAT AT THAT TIME, CHRYSLER DID NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT PARTS TO EFFECT THE REPAIRS, BUT THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT US WHEN THE PARTS WERE IN STOCK. WE HEARD NOTHING FROM CHRYSLER, WHEN I RECEIVED NOTICES FOR 15 MORE VEHICLES. I CONTACTED CHERRY CREEK DODGE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD 5 HITCHES IN STOCK. WHEN MY STAFF DROPPED OFF A VEHICLE FOR REPAIR, THEY WERE TOLD WE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THEM TO COLORADO CHRYSLER GOING FORWARD. I CALLED COLORADO CHRYSLER TO SEE IF THEY HAD PARTS. I WAS TOLD THEY DID NOT, AND THEY DID NOT EXPECT TO SEE ANY UNTIL THE END OF OCTOBER. THEY SAID THEY WERE NOT PERMITTED TO ORDER ANY, AND THAT THEY WERE LIMITED TO AN AUTOMATIC REPLENISHMENT OF 5 HITCHES PER MONTH. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS IS RIDICULOUS. THESE VEHICLES HAVE A SAFETY ISSUE, AND THE CHRYSLER DEALERS ARE DRAGGING THEIR FEET ON REPAIRING THEM. MEANWHILE, I HAVE EMPLOYEES DRIVING UNSAFE VEHICLES. I SUSPECT THAT SINCE THE NEWEST VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL ARE 7 YEARS OLD, THEY ARE BEING CYNICAL AND BETTING THAT MOST OF THESE VEHICLES WILL BE OFF THE ROAD SOON, SO IF THEY CAN DRAG OUT THE PROCESS IT WILL SAVE THEM MONEY. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE! *TR

THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
I HAVE YET TO BE CONTACTED BY THE DEALER ABOUT HAVING THIS REPAIR COMPLETED. WHEN I CALLED TO INQUIRE ABOUT A TIMELINE FOR THE REPAIR, I WAS TOLD "IF YOU WOULD HAVE READ THE NOTICE, YOU WOULD KNOW THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT YOU WHEN THEY HAVE THE PARTS ". *TR

THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A SPECIFIC DATE WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD RECEIVE THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH VEHICLE'S PRIMARY BRAKE SYSTEM FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE STOPPED USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. INSPECTING THE BRAKE SYSTEM IT WAS IDENTIFIED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LINE HAD CORRODED. *TR

I RECEIVED A LETTER NOTIFYING ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE IN LATE AUGUST OF 2014. I HAVE CALLED THE JEEP RECALL CENTER 4 TIMES SINCE THEN AND I STILL HAVE NOT HAD MY JEEP REPAIRED. THE LAST TIME I CALLED ON JANUARY 29TH, 2015 THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE PUT ME IN CONTACT WITH KENDALL DODGE IN MIAMI. I SPOKE TO [XXX] FROM THE CAR DEALERSHIP AND SHE ADVISED ME THAT I WAS FOURTH ON THE WAITING LIST FOR THIS REPAIR. IT IS NOW FEBRUARY 12TH, 2015 AND I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING FROM KENDALL DODGE OR THE JEEP RECALL CENTER. MY JEEP HAS BEEN ON A WAITING LIST FOR A YEAR NOW FOR THE FUEL TANK RECALL EVERY TIME I CALL THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAY CALL US BACK IN A COUPLE MONTHS TO SEE WHERE WE ARE ON THE LIST I DON'T FEEL IT SHOULD TAKE THIS LONG TO BE FIXED

DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT BECOMES UNBUCKLED WITHOUT WARNING. REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF SEAT BELT RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY. THIS EXACT SAME PROBLEM ALSO OCCURRED ON MY SONS 2005 JEEP LIBERTY.

I AM COMPLAINING BECAUSE LIKE 2 YEARS AGO A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR MY JEEP LIBERTY 2005, DUE TO DESIGN DEFECT OF PLACING THE FUEL TANK AT THE END OF THE VEHICLE. SUPPOSED TO BE ADDRESSED BY ADDITION OF A TRAILER HITCH. I HAVE HEARD NOTHING FURTHER IN THESE 2 YEARS. NO NOTICE OF RECALL, NO NOTICE OF HOW TO GET IT WORKED ON. A CAR GOT HIT BY A SEMI AND SPUN AROUND ON THE INTERSTATE AND HEADING STRAIGHT TOWARD ME, I STOPPED BUT STILL GOT HIT IN THE FRONT END ON THE DRIVERS SIDE (AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY) THEN I WAS HIT BY A SEMI ON THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE. HAD SIT BELT ON BUT STILL GOT JERKED AROUND AND INJURED MY NECK & BACK, MY RIGHT ARM HIT THE STEERING WHEEL AND SUSTAINED AN INJURY AS WELL (STILL GOING TO DOCTOR FOR ARM AND CHIROPRACTOR FOR NECK AND BACK). I NEED TO REPORT THAT [XXX] WAS IN AN ACCIDENT TODAY IN THE 05 JEEP LIBERTY. LOCATION WAS EAST BOUND SERVICE ROAD AT GREATSOUTH WEST HWY AND INTERSTATE 20 GRAND PRAIRIE TEXAS, ON AUGUST 17, 2014, AT APPROXIMATELY 2:00PM. SHE WAS ATTEMPTING TO ENTER ONTO I-20 AND DUE TO THE RAIN LOST CONTROL AND CAUSING HER TO TRAVEL OFF THE ROAD AND STRIKE INTO A COVERT DRAIN( DUE TO HYDRO PLAINING.AND THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY) . LOCATION WAS EAST BOUND SERVICE ROAD AT GREAT SOUTH WEST HWY AND INTERSTATE 20 GRAND PRAIRIE TEXAS, SHE WAS TAKE BY AMBULANCE (GRAND PRAIRIE FIRE AND RESCUE) TO MEDICAL CENTER HOSPITAL AT 3301 MEDLOCK ARLINGTON, TEXAS. SHE RECEIVED X-RAYS, CAT SCAN, AND SUTURES IN THE FACIAL AREA DISCHARGED. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED FROM THE SCENE. THIS JEEP I HAD PURCHASED USED IN DEC 2013. I HAD CALLED JEEP CORP TO CHECK ON RECALLS AFTER I HAD FIRST PURCHASED. THE FIRST TIME IN 2008 THE VEHICLE WAS IDLING WHEN THE WIRES BEGAN TO SMOKE. TOOK IT INTO REPAIR THE PROBLEM AND DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF IT. NOW THE SAME THING IS HAPPENING AGAIN WHICH UPON FURTHER RESEARCH HAVE FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE CRD'S. I CALLED CHRYSLER AT 1-888-992-1997, SPOKE WITH A WOMAN NAMED [XXX], GAVE HER MY VIN NUMBER, AND ASKED IF THEY WOULD REPLACE THE SEATBELT GIVEN THE 2002 RECALL OF JEEP LIBERTY SEAT BELTS DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM. SHE SAID THEY WOULD NOT. SHE ADVISED ME TO FIX IT ON MY OWN, AND TO SAVE MY RECEIPTS IN CASE ONE DAY JEEP DOES TO DECIDE TO RECALL MY YEARS SEAT BELTS. SEAT BELT COMPLAINT AFTER ARRIVING FOR AN APPOINTMENT, I WAS UNABLE TO EXIT MY 2005 JEEP LIBERTY RENEGADE BECAUSE THE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT LATCH WOULD NOT RELEASE. IT TOOK SEVERAL MINUTES TO GET IT TO DO SO. LATER, WHEN WE WERE SHOPPING, MY HUSBAND COULD NOT GET THE LATCH TO ENGAGE AS WE ATTEMPTED TO LEAVE. THE RED PUSH PORTION OF THE RELEASE LATCH WOULD NOT FUNCTION. THE RED PUSH PORTION OF THE LATCH WAS DEPRESSED, AND IT WOULD NOT DISENGAGE FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. WE WERE STUCK IN THE PARKING LOT WHILE WE STRUGGLED WITH THIS ISSUE. EITHER WAY, THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE. IN AN EMERGENCY, WILL I BECOME TRAPPED AND UNABLE TO ESCAPE? I WAS COMING HOME THE DAY BEFORE THE HOLIDAY. IT WAS A BUSY DAY AROUND 4:30 PM. I BEGAN HEADING DOWN THE HEEL AND THE CAR JUST TURNED OFF. ONCE I REACHED THE BOTTOM OF THE HILL, MY VEHICLE CAME TO REST BETWEEN TWO LANES OF A FOUR LANE ROAD. MIND YOU THIS ROAD HAS HILLS COMING FROM BOTH WAYS. FORTUNATELY AGAIN, A TOW TRUCK DRIVER CAME ALONG AND STOPPED TRAFFIC UNTIL HE COULD SAFELY TOW ME INTO MY DRIVEWAY (FREE OF CHARGE). WHEN I TRIED STARTING THE VEHICLE AGAIN IT RAN LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO BLOW UP AND RATTLED SOMETHING TERRIBLE. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY EXPLAINED THAT THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANY SUCH SITUATION REGARDING MY TYPE OF VEHICLE.
