HELLO MY NAME IS [XXX] AND I RECENTLY LEARNED THAT MY JEEP LIBERTY IS UP FOR A RECALL THE LETTER FROM THE DEALER SAYS THE FUEL TANK ON YOUR VEHICLE HAS A SMALL CHANCE OF EXPERIENCING A FUEL LEAK DURING CERTAIN TYPES OF REAR ENDS COLLISIONS. FUEL LEAKAGE IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE CAN RESULT IN AN UNDERBODY FIRE. I ALREADY WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY THAT THEY DON'T HAVE THE PARTS, THAT WAS ON FEBRUARY AND THEY HAVEN'T CONTACT ME. I DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH SO PLEASE CONTACT ME IN SPANISH. THE DRIVERSIDE FRONT WINDOW JUST FELL DOWN AND I COULDN'T GET IT TO ROLL BACK UP
I GOT OUT OF MY CAR AFTER A 20 MINUTE DRIVE FROM WORK AND I COULD SMELL RUBBER BURNING. I STEPPED TO THE BACK OF MY JEEP AND COULD TELL THE SMELL WAS COMING FROM THE BACK DRIVER SIDE TIRE SO I REACHED DOWN AND TOUCHED THE WHEEL AND IT WAS SO HOT IT BURNED BY HAND. IT ACTED LIKE THE BRAKE HAD LOCKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND WORKING AGAINST MY SPEED. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. SOMETIMES IT ACTS COMPLETELY FINE AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL LOCK UP AGAIN AND ALL I CAN SMELL IS BURNING RUBBING AND FEEL HEAT COMING OFF THE WHEEL WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING IT. *TR
PULL OUT OF DRIVEWAY TO STOP SIGN. PULLED OUT INTO INTERSECTION AND THERE WAS A LOUD BANG FOLLOWED BY CLANKING NOISE. IT TURNED OUT TO BE A BLOWN ENGINE. THERE WAS NO WARNING, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ENGINE WAS REPLACED. NOW TRANSMISSION IS FAILING WILL FILE A SEPARATE COMPLAINT FOR THAT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE REAR SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM FAILED AND CAUSED THE CONTACT LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR SUSPENSION CONTROL ARM WAS CORRODED AND THE WHEEL ALIGNMENT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,000.
WENT TO START MY CAR IN THE MORNING AND THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON, AND A LOUD KNOCKING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. CHECKED ALL FLUIDS AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. OIL LIGHT FINALLY WENT OFF AND WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AND THE RESULT WAS A BLOWN ENGINE. SERVICE TECH SAID THEY FLUSHED OIL FROM ENGINE AND IT WAS FILLED WITH METAL. ALL MAINTENANCE WAS UP TO DATE AND IS DOCUMENTED AT DEALERSHIP. *TR

HARD START AND THEN ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. OBDII CODE P302, CHANGED SPARK PLUG AND COIL. ENGINE KNOCKS AND RUNS ROUGH. POSSIBLE VALVE ISSUE. *TR THE CONSUMER STATED TOO MUCH TIME HAS GONE BY, SINCE HE RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE INSTALLATION OF THE TRAILER HITCH. CHRYSLER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. HOWEVER, THE CONSUMER HAD TALKED TO A COUPLE OF MECHANICS WHO DEALER WITH TRAILERS AND HITCHES AND THEY HAVE THE PARTS EITHER IN STOCK OR READILY AVAILABLE. UPDATED 06/19/14
WHEN YOU GO TO FILL THE GAS TANK , IT OVERFLOWS CONSTANTLY , YOU CANNOT JUST STICK THE NOZZLE IN AND LET IT FILL NORMALLY, YOU HAVE TO LET IT GO VERY SLOWLY AND EVEN THEN IT WILL TRY TO OVERFLOW. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I ALWAYS HAVE GAS SPILLED OUT ON THE PAVEMENT AND ON ME MOST OF THE TIME. AFTER RESEARCHING AND READING ONLINE FORUMS, I HAVE NOTICED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THAT THERE IS A LOT OF FRUSTRATION IN TRYING TO GET SOMEONE TO LISTEN TO OUR COMPLAINTS AND ACTUALLY HAVING A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO WRITTEN TO CHRYSLER AND HAVEN'T HAD ANY RESPONSE. TOOK IT JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP FROM WHICH WE PURCHASED IT , THEY SAID IT WASN'T UNDER WARRANTY AND SAID TO RESEARCH ONLINE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ON JAN. 25, 2014, THE FIRST NOTICE FOR A RECALL WAS RECEIVED. ACCORDING TO INFORMATION ON SAFERCAR.GOV, THIS RECALL WAS STARTED IN JUNE 2013 AND THE RECALL WAS EXPECTED TO BEGIN IN JULY 2013. THE NOTICE STARTS 'PARTS ARE NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE' TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND NO DATE IS PROVIDED FOR THE START OF REPAIRS. SEVEN + MONTHS SEEMS LIKE AN EXCESSIVELY LONG TIME TO RECEIVE ANY NOTICE OF A SAFETY PROBLEM. IS SEEMS UNREASONABLE THAT NO DATE FOR THE EXPECTED REPAIR OF MY VEHICLE CAN BE PROVIDED AT THIS LATE DATE. *TR

AS OF THIS DATE I HAVE HEARD NOTHING SINCE CHRYSLER SENT ME A LETTER STATING THAT "THE DEALERSHIP WOULD BE IN TOUCH"! I SENT THEM A COPY OF MY RECEIPT FOR THE HITCH I HAD INSTALLED AND IT STATED IT MET FEDERAL GUIDELINES. IT SEEMS THAT THEY RECEIVED TO MANY RECEIPTS AND THAT AT $300. A VEHICLE IT WAS GOING TO HURT! I SEE NO NEED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE INTO A DEALERSHIP WHEN I PROVIDED PROVE THAT MY HITCH WAS PROPERLY INSTALLED AND MET FEDERAL GUIDELINES.
