OIL PAN AND TRANSMISSION PAN HAVE RUSTED OUT AND STARTED LEAKING. I FEEL THE CAR IS NOT OLD ENOUGH TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND IT IS AN ISSUE WITH THE MANUFACTURER PARTS. WE DIDN'T NOTICE THE PROBLEM UNTIL WE WERE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE BUT THE GENTLEMAN TOOK A VIDEO OF THE LEAK FOR US AND WHEN WE GOT HOME WE NOTICED THE ENORMOUS PUDDLE IN OUR DRIVEWAY WE HAD SOMEHOW MISSED.
TAKATA RECALL - MY VEHICLE IS 8 YEARS OLD. A LOT OF PROBLEMS HAVE STARTED TO HAPPEN TWO YEARS AGO WHICH I HAVE PAID OUT OF MY POCKET CONSIDERING IT AS AGE MAINTENANCE. TWO YEARS AGO I WAS NOT GOING TO PAY DEALER $800 COST TO FIX MY FRONT DOOR LOCKS THAT DON'T GO UP OR DOWN. I JUST DO IT THE OLD FASHION WAY. RECENTLY MY PASSENGER FRONT DOOR HAS ADDED THE PROBLEM OF THE WINDOW BUTTON NOT WORKING, WHICH IS A POSSIBLE LIFE SAFETY OF A PERSON WHO COULD BE FORCED TO ESCAPE THAT WAY. TAKATA RECALL - NOW!!! STARTING IN MID APRIL 2018 MY DASHBOARD DINGED SHOWING PICTURE OF WHAT LOOKS LIKE DRIVER AIRBAG CIRCLE AND DRIVER IN A SEATBELT. IT WENT AWAY A MINUTE LATER. IT THEN STARTED HAPPENING SPARATICALLY TWICE A WEEK MAYBE. IN MAY 2018, IT BECAME EVERY DRIVE OFF AND ON THE AIRBAG ICON SHOWED UP AND WOULD DING ABOUT FIVE TIMES DURING THE DAY DRIVE STAYING LIT AT 2 MINUTES MOST APPROXIMATELY. NOW JUNE 2018, IT HAS BECOME AN AUTOMATIC OF LIGHT DINGS ON AND THEN OFF SEVERAL TIMES DURING A DRIVE THAT COULD RANGE FROM 5MINUTES TO 20 MINUTES. I STARTED TO OBSERVE THAT IT HAPPENS WHEN I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL ONLY SLIGHTLY RIGHT, BUT NOW THE LAST WEEK IT HAS HAPPENED WHEN STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED SLIGHTLY LEFT OR RIGHT. I AM NOW TRULY IN FEAR OF MY BAG EXPLODING WHILE I DRIVE AND/OR IT WILL NOT GO OFF TO HELP MY INJURY I'M INVOLVED IN CRASH. I HAVE READ THE HTSA SIGHT OF RECALL AND COMPLAINTS AND ANOTHER OWNER'S STORY IS A MATCH SIMILAR TO MINE....THEY ARE COMPLAINT NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10986169. I HAVE TO GO TO THE DEALER THIS WEEK FOR AN APPT FOR YET ANOTHER PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE AND HAVE TO ASK THEM TO LOOK AT THE AIRBAG ISSUE......I BELIEVE NO MATTER WHAT THE MANUFACTURERS SHOULD PAY FOR FIXING ANY AIRBAG PROBLEM A CUSTOMER COMES IN WITH!!! IT SHOULD NOT BE PUT AS A BURDEN ON THE OWNER AND A TRUE HARDSHIP TO ME BECAUSE I HAVE TO BORROW MONEY TO FIX POSSIBLY.
THE DISPLAY LIGHT FOR THE "GATE" COMES ON, EVEN THOUGH THE GATE IS CLOSED. THE INTERIOR LIGHTS COME ON AS WELL. IF MY CAR IS LOCKED, THE ALARM WILL SOUND. APPARENTLY THERE IS SOME ISSUE WITH THE CENSOR IN THE LATCH. THIS IS HAPPENING TO A LOT OF 2010 JEEP LIBERTY'S. WHEN I WAS DRIVING THE GATE LIGHT CAME ON, ALONG WITH THE INTERIOR LIGHTS, HOWEVER, THE GATE WAS CLOSED. *THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED - MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED/SHUT OFF; *THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED - I WAS DRIVING ME VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE SOFT SKYLINE TOP SEPARATED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, AS REQUESTED BY THE INSURER OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SOFT SKYLINE TOP WAS GLUED TO THE SUBFRAME. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO PART TO REMEDY THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,999. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO FUEL THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED FUEL LEAKING OUT UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED BEFORE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT NOT FAILURES WERE FOUND. THE CONTACT FOUND A FAULTY CHECK VALVE AND PAID FOR THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL DID NOT INCLUDE HIS VEHICLE ONLY THE 2007-2008 MODELS. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE MECHANIC FOR THE SAME FAILURE A WEEK LATER AND WAS ADVISED THAT A NEW FUEL TANK WAS NEEDED. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF A DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,000.
AN ISSUE WITH SENSOR FOR THE GATE. IT IS SAYING MY GATE IS OPEN AND MY ALARM KEEPS GOING OFF.
JEEP LIBERTY SPORT 2010, EVERY TIME I DRIVE MY CAR UP HILL SLIPS OR LOOSES POWER IN THE WHEELS VERY EASILY WHEN IT ENCOUNTERS FEW GRAVEL OR CRUSHED STONES AND SMALL WET AREAS. IT IS A VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE, TO HELP MY CAR TO GO UP HILL MORE EASILY I DRIVE THE CAR EXTREMELY SLOW, IT DOES HELP BUT I WISH I COULD DRIVE IT UP HILL A LITTLE BIT FASTER, THE NORMAL WAY.
THE CHECK OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON EVEN WHEN THERE WAS LESS THAN A QUART OF OIL. THE OIL WAS NOT LEAKING. THE JEEP WAS JUST USING IT UP. NOT KNOWING I NEEDED OIL CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY ENGINE.
I WAS DRIVING HUSBAND TO WORK ON COUNTY ROAD AND STRUCK A DEER, FRONT OF VEHICLE, AND SPUN OUT OF CONTROL. NO OTHER VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED.
I STARTED MY 2010 JEEP LIBERTY AND IT STARTED REVVING UP ON ITS OWN, MY FOOT WAS NOT ON GAS AND IT JUST KEPT REVVING UP. I PUT IT IN DRIVE WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND IT TOOK OFF ON ITS OWN WHILE BOTH MY FEET WERE ON THE BREAK. I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND TURNED IT OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES. WHEN I RESTARTED IT, IT CONTINUED TO REV UP ON ITS OWN.
THE SKYSLIDER FABRIC ROOF LEAKS OFTEN. THERE ARE WATER STAINS ON THE UPHOLSTERY. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO FIT CORRECTLY ANY MORE. MECHANIC SAID IT WOULD BE A COSTLY REPAIR SO BASICALLY HE JUST TAPED IT IN PLACE WITH DUCT TAPE. I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT OWNERS ARE HAVING A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS, INCLUDING HAVING THE ROOF GO FLYING OFF THE CAR WHEN IN MOTION.
1. SEAT BELT WILL NOT LATCH IN REAR DRIVER SEAT TO PROPERLY RESTRAIN CHILD. CHRYSLER WILL NOT COVER SO CHILD IS BEING LATCH WITH A REAR DRIVER SIDE SHOULDER BELT CONNECTED TO THE MIDDLE SEAT LATCH. 2. WHEEL SPEED SENSOR HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE, CAUSES ABS, ESC AND 4WD TO STOP WORKING. THIS HAPPENS TYPICALLY WHILE DRIVING EITHER RESIDENTIAL OR HIGHWAY ROADS, RANDOM TIMES, TEMPERATURES AND SPEEDS. 3. DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR HAS STOPPED WORKING FOR THE FORTH TIME WHICH PREVENTS CHILD SAFETY LOCK FROM WORKING. THE DOOR CANNOT LOCK/UNLOCK OTHER THAN MANUALLY COMPRESSING THE LOCK FROM THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR THEREFORE I HAVE TO CLIMB IN THE BACK SEAT TO UNLOCK THE DOOR OR RISK MY CHILD OPENING THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING. THE OTHER THREE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED, NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. 4. THE CLOCK LOSES A MINUTE TO TWO MINUTES A WEEK. 5. WHEN THE CAR IS IN OFF POSITION AND KEYS REMOVED FROM IGNITION, THE VEHICLE HAS ELECTRICAL SURGES THROUGH THE CONSOLE AFTER SITTING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. THE BATTERY HAS NOT BEEN RUN DOWN, I'M NOT SURE WHERE THE POWER IS COMING FROM. 6. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO LOSE POWER ON HIGHWAY AND STOPPED SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, AT 80,000 TRANSMISSION WORK HAD TO BE PERFORMED TO PROPERLY RUN WITHOUT RISK.
MY 2010 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT WENT ON FIRE. I WAS STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR STARTED TO COMPLETELY MALFUNCTION. THE CARE SHUT OFF AT THE STOP SIGN, THE HORN WENT OFF FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES, THE WINDSHEILD WIPPERS WENT OFF, ALL OF THE DOORS LOCKED AND I SAW SMOKE FROM THE HOOD. I DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO DO AND MAYBE AFTER ABOUT 3 MINUTES OF TRYING TO GET DOORS TO UNLOCK THEY FINALLY DID I GOT OUT AND OPENED THE HOOD AND THE WHOLE HOOD WAS UP IN FLAMES. NOW ITS A TOTAL LOSS THEY ARE ONLY PAYING OFF MY LOAN AND I AM STUCK WITH TRYING TO COME UP WITH MY OWN MONEY TO BUY A NEW CAR NOW I THINK I SHOULD BE ENTILTED TO A LAWSUIT I COULD OF DIED IF THOSE DOORS DID NOT END UP UNLOCKING. EVERY JEEP SHOULD BE RECALLED.
A NEIGHBOR REPORTED THAT MY JEEP 2010 LIBERTY MOVED BACKWARD AFTER I LEFT IT IN PARK. OUR DRIVEWAY IS SLOPED. THE WEATHER WAS ABOUT 60DEGREES OUTSIDE. THERE WAS NO ICE OR SNOW ON THE DRIVE. I CHECKED THE VEHICLE TO SEE IF IT WAS IN PARK. IT WAS. THAT IS WHY I AM INQUIRING TO SEE IF A RECALL HAD BEEN REPORTED FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS.
TIPM FAILURE. THE CAR HAS SHUT DOWN MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING IN CITY STREETS AND ON HIGHWAYS. THE 2010 JEEP LIBERTY LOST ALL POWER HAD TO STEER TO THE SIDE TO AVOID CAUSING ANY ACCIDENTS. PRETTY SCARY EXPERIENCE ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU ARE PREGNANT AND CARES ARE ZOOMING BY 80 MILES PER HOUR.
CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT-2015 DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING-2017 DRIVING IN THE RAIN WHEN WASHER FLUID STOPPED WORKING-TIPM WENT OUT-2017 DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE BACK GLASS ON LIFT GATE WAS FALLING OFF-HINGE BOLT ON THE BACK GLASS IS DETERIORATED.-2017
"GATE" LIGHT COMES ON DASH AND LIGHTS INSIDE VEHICLE STAY ON, DRAINING BATTERY AND IF YOU LOCK YOUR VEHICLE THE ALARM WILL GO OFF. IT IS ALL CAUSED BY WATER GETTING INTO THE BACK WINDOW WHICH HAS BAD SEALS AND CAUSES SWITCH TO GO BAD. REPLACED YEAR AGO AND NOW HAVE TO REPLACE AGAIN. THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE MANY JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS COMPLAIN. FIX THE PROBLEM OR I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER JEEP.
BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM CAR
TAKATA RECALL: NOT SURE HOW LONG A OCCUPANCY RESTRAINT MODULE SHOULD LAST, BUT I KNOW MINE APPARENTLY IS 7 YEARS WITH 77,300 MILES ON IT. MAY 10TH, 2017 I HAD BEEN DRIVING MY CAR ALL DAY, WE MADE A STOP AT KROGER AND WHEN WE GOT INTO THE VEHICLE THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. NOTHING WE COULD DO THAT NIGHT, SO WE WENT TO A BIRTHDAY DINNER AND WHILE DRIVING THERE IT STAYED ON. CAME OUT AFTER WE WERE FINISHED THE LIGHT HAD TURNED OFF. I TURNED THE VEHICLE ON TO LEAVE WORK ON TUESDAY MAY 16, 2017 AND THE LIGHT HAD COME ON AGAIN. WE CALLED THE SERVICE CENTER TO GET IT IN AND THE SERVICE CENTER HAD SAID THE OCCUPANCY RESTRAINT MODULE WAS FAULTY BUT THEY DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OTHER JEEP MODELS WITH THE SAME DEFECT AND WAS RECALLED. ALSO, THE SAME MODEL BUT DIFFERENT YEARS WERE RECALLED. THE SERVICE CENTER ADVISED THAT IT WOULD BE A POSSIBILITY THAT IF I CRASHED I COULD BE EJECTED FROM THE CAR, AND THE AIRBAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY.
MY PANIC ALARM WENT OFF BY ITSELF WHEN I WAS IN THE STORE. I SHUT IT OFF BUT NOW I HAVE A MESSAGE READING GATE AJAR AND ALL MY INTERIOR LIGHTS ARE ON. IT DRAINED MY BATTERY AND IT WOULD NOT TAKE A CHARGE. I NEEDED TO GET A NEW BATTERY. I AM STILL GETTING THE GATE AJAR READING AND LIGHTS STAY ON. I DISCONNECT MY BATTERY WHEN I GO TO WORK. I HAVE BEEN READING ONLINE AND APPARENTLY THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP LIBERTY AND NOT JUST THE 2010.
2010 JEEP LIBERTY SKY SLIDER WILL NOT CLOSE. INTERNET FULL OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. JEEP/CHRYSLER WILL NOT STAND BY THEIR PRODUCTS. THEY WANT TO REPLACE ENTIRE ROOF AT $2500 WHEN ONLY ONE PART IS BROKEN (AT LESS THAN $100). TOP MECHANISM IS SIMPLY GARBAGE. PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED THAT THE ROOF WILL FLY AWAY IF DRIVING CONTINUES.
IT HAS A CONVERTIBLE STYLE SUNROOF AND 1 MONTH AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE SUNROOF BROKE AND THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM AND THE COMPANY I PURCHASED WILL NOT COVER IT AS WELL
I HAVE A "SKY SLIDER" ON MY JEEP AND IT OPENS ON ITS OWN WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND WILL NOT CLOSE. IT HAS ALSO GOTTEN OFF-TRACK SEVERAL TIMES CAUSING IT NOT TO CLOSE PROPERLY.
THE TIPM ON MY 6 YEAR OLD JEEP LIBERTY STOPPED FUNCTIONING CAUSING THE LIGHTS ON MY VEHICLE TO NO LONGER WORK. THIS OCCURRED AFTER STARTING MY CAR ONE NIGHT WHEN LEAVING SOMEWHERE I HAD ARRIVED DURING THE DAYTIME.
THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED MODULDE (TIPM) IS DEFECTIVE. THE CAR IS 5 YEARS OLD, BUT THIS PLACES THE USER AT A HUGE SAFETY RISK. THE LIGHTS WENT OFF WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT IN A VERY DARK HIGH WAY. LUCKILY THE HAZZARD LIGHTS WORKED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED INJURIES TO THE LEFT ARM AND MULTIPLE BRUISES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
IT WILL BURP GAS BACK OF THE FILLER NOZZLE. TRIED DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. TRIED DIFFERENT TYPES OF PUMPS. ON AUTOMATIC FILL-UP IT WILL CUT OFF, THEN A BIG BURP OF GAS SPEWS OUT OF THE FILLER NOZZLE. HAPPENS MOSTLY IN THE COOL WEATHER, RANDOMLY IN HIGH TEMPS (80F+). DEALER INSPECTED SAID THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEM... TOLD ME THE ONLY OPTION WOULD BE A FUEL TANK REPLACEMENT FOR AROUND 1500 DOLLARS. IT IS THE SAME SYMPTOM THE RECALL/WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR 2008 JEEP LIBERTY'S COVERED IN THE X46 LIFETIME WARRANTY EXTENSION; HOWEVER, THIS DOES NOT COVER ANY OTHER MODEL YEARS AND THIS IS HAPPENING IN OTHER MODEL YEARS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH AND MAKING A TURN, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNED OFF, AND RESTARTED. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED AND RECURRED TWO TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 54,000.
2010 JEEP LIBERTY SPONTANEOUSLY CAUGHT ON FIRE AND EXPLODED ON FRIDAY APRIL 15, 2016. MY STEPDAD AND I WERE OUT AND WE STOPPED AND PICKED UP A PIZZA ON THE WAY HOME AND EVERYTHING WAS JUST FINE THE WHOLE DRIVE HOME, NO SMELL, NO DRIVING ISSUES, NO SMOKE, NO OVERHEATING DINGS, NO FUNKY SOUNDS. WE PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY TO PARK AND TURNED OFF THE CAR, MY STEPDAD GOT OUT FIRST, AND WHEN I OPENED MY DOOR I SAID 'OOH IT SMELLS LIKE FALL!' (I THOUGHT THE NEIGHBORS WERE HAVING A BONFIRE OR SOMETHING.) THEN I SAW IT AND TOLD HIM 'THE CAR IS SMOKING!' AND I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND GOT AWAY FROM IT. HE TRIED TO OPEN THE HOOD THINKING IT WAS A RADIATOR OR SOMETHING BUT IT WAS SO HOT IT BURNED HIS FINGERS AND THEN HE LIFTED IT A BIT WITH A SCREWDRIVER AS WE WENT TO GET THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND WE SAW THE FIRE START SHOOTING OUT OF THE SIDES. IT WAS SO HOT AND SO FAST. I SCREAMED AT HIM TO GET HIM AWAY FROM IT BECAUSE I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO EXPLODE, AND AS SOON AS HE WAS A BIT AWAY FROM IT, THE HOOD DID EXPLODE UP AND THEN IT STARTED REALLY SHOOTING FLAMES OUT AND AND THAT'S WHEN I CALLED 911. THERE WERE SEVERAL MORE EXPLOSIONS WHILE WE WAITED ON THE FIREFIGHTERS. IT WAS TOTALLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES IN 5 MINUTES. THERE IS NOTHING LEFT BUT A SHELL, AND IT WAS ONE LAYER FROM BURNING OUR HOUSE DOWN. IF WE WERE IN IT ANOTHER 60 SECONDS, WE'D HAVE TAKEN THAT FIRST EXPLOSION TO THE FACES. WE COULD HAVE DIED AND WE ALMOST LOST OUR HOUSE, OUR BARN AND ANOTHER CAR INSIDE THE BARN. I'M FURIOUS. OTHER PEOPLE COULD DIE.
CHECK VALVE FOR GAS OVERFLOW DOES NOT WORK. EVERY FILL UP GAS WILL SPILL OUT AND ONTO PANTS LEGS AND GROUND.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SKY SLIDER SUN ROOF HAD A MISALIGNMENT IN THE TRACK AND THE PIN FRACTURED OUT OF PLACE. THE GLASS WAS MISALIGNED IN THE REAR PORTION OF THE TRACK VERSUS FLUSH. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO FURTHER INSPECT THE SKY SLIDER SUN ROOF TRACK TO PLACE THE PIN IN LINE BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED WITH THE MISALIGNMENT. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
FUEL BLOWS BACK EXPLOSIVELY WHILE FILLING TANK. DEALER REPORTS CHECK VALVE IN INSIDE THE GAS TANK NOT ON THE FILLER NECK AND THAT REPLACING FUEL TANK IN ONLY WAY TO FIX. COST ESTIMATE $1370, PLUS $146.50 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM FOR A TOTAL OF $1,517.31. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHICH JEEP IS WELL AWARE AND WIDELY DISCUSSED ON VARIOUS FORUMS. JEEP HAS RECALLED OTHER MODELS, BUT NOT THIS SPECIFIC MODEL AND YEAR. SERIOUS BODILY HARM AND DEATH IS A POTENTIAL WITH THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. JEEP REFUSES TO ASSIST ON ANY COST OR REPAIR OF THE VEHICLE. FUEL TANKS ARE MADE TO LAST THE LIFE OF A CAR, THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT WHICH SHOULD BE DEALT WITH. CAR IS SINGLE OWNER, WAS BOUGHT NEW IN AUGUST 2010, NO OTHER PROBLEMS. CASE #28823444 AT JEEP. CALLED 3 TIMES, WAS OFFERED ZERO ASSISTANCE TO MITIGATE THE PROBLEM.
2010 JEEP LIBERTY - WITH A MOON /SKY SLIDER. AFTER RAIN OR SNOW STORM ACCUMULATED WATER SOMEHOW IS TRAPPED AND LEAKS THRU THE INSIDE FROM THE DOME LIGHTS. SECOND MAJOR ISSUE IS THE HORRENDOUS WIND NOISE, ANY TIME THE VEHICLE OPERATES OVER A SPEED OF 45 PLUS MILES YOU CAN HEAR IT INSIDE. THEY SAY WHEN YOU DRIVE AN SUV DON'T TURN YOUR CORNERS TOO FAST, HA! WHEN YOU DRIVE A JEEP MADE WITH THIS MOONSLIDER IT DRAGS YOU LIKE YOU CAN FLIP ANY MINUTE ON THE HIGHWAY, THE DEALER IS ABSURD AND WANTS TO CHARGE YOU OVER $3000.00 TO FIX IT. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE SINCE I PURCHASED IT - JUST GOT ANOTHER QUOTE.
MY 2010 JEEP LIBERTY HAS A OIL PAN THAT IS ALMOST RUSTED THROUGH AS WELL AS THE TRANSMISSION PAN. I LEARNED THIS THROUGH GETTING MY OIL CHANGED AND THE WORKERS TOLD AND SHOWED ME THE DECAYING PARTS. I HAVE PICTURES OF THESE ITEMS AND BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING BEING ITS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. AND OF COURSE THE WARRENTY JUST ENDED.
TIPMS IS BAD. WHILE GOING DOWN HIGHWAY THE HORN STARTED BLOWING NON STOP THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND FLUID BEGAN TO GO EXTREMELY FAST, THE CAR STALLED OUT WHEN I TRIED TO TURN IT OFF BUT HORN WINDSHIELD ETC CONTINUE TO GO AFTER CAR WAS OFF AND KEYS OUT. THE LOCKS AND SECURITY NO LONGER WORK, THE AC/HEAT NO LONGER WORKS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL LIGHTS (AVS, ESP, VAS, SERVICE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE) REMAINED ILLUMINATED. ALL OF THE WHEEL SENSORS WERE REPLACED, THE SYSTEM WAS CLEANED, AND THE BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,200.
STARTED VEHICLE AND DROVE ABOUT 1/4 OF A MILE. THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN AND I HAD TO MANUALLY STEER IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. CAR WOULD NOT START AND POWER TO EVERYTHING WAS LOST. COULD NOT JUMP START EVEN THOUGH BATTERY WAS FULLY CHARGED. TURNED OUT TO BE FAULTY TIPM. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 36,000 MILES ON IT!
THIS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM SHOWED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THE ENTIRE CAR SHUT DOWN GOING 40 MPH. LIGHTS FLASHED, WIPERS WENT OFF, HORN TOO, ALL FOR 10 SECONDS, WHILE CRUISING WITH NOW POWER/GAS. THEN THE CAR STARTED AGAIN ON ITS OWN, AND KEPT DRIVING. EVER SINCE, THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS SCREWED UP. WIPERS WILL RUN, BUT DO NOT PUSH FLUID. CAR DOORS WILL NOT LOCK/UNLOCK WITH KEYFOB OR DRIVER'S SIDE CONTROLS. MUST MANUALLY LOCK/UNLOCK ALL DOORS. THE TAILGATE CANNOT UNLOCK, THEREFORE WILL NOT OPEN. FAN DOESN'T WORK, SO NO A/C OR HEAT. MECHANIC SAID THE TIPM MUST BE REPLACED, AND IT IS NOT COVERED BY JEEP/CHRYSLER WARRANTY. $1300 OUT OF POCKET! THIS IS RIDICULOUS, IT IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT.

OVER 2 WEEKS AGO, I WAS COMING HOME WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD, AND AS WE CAME OFF THE HIGHWAY, THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON, THEN A BUNCH OF OTHER RANDOM LIGHTS ON THE DASH POPPED ON AND BEEPED AT ME. I HEARD THE CAR DIE RIGHT AS I COASTED INTO A GAS STATION. TRIED TO JUMP WITH 3 DIFFERENT CABLES AND IT WOULDN'T JUMP. NEXT DAY, REPLACED THE BATTERY AND IT STARTED UP FINE. DROVE TO WORK (ABOUT 5 MILES) AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AS I CAME ACROSS A HILL. MORE DASH LIGHTS CAME ON AND IT DIED AGAIN. HAD A MECHANIC REPLACE THE ALTERNATOR, AND THEN WE HAD TO GET A 2ND NEW BATTERY BECAUSE I KILLED THE FIRST ONE. LATER THAT DAY I DROVE IT AROUND, AND AFTER ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES OF DRIVING, AS I WAS COMING UP A HILL, THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. TURNED AROUND AND CAME HOME. NEXT DAY I DROVE ABOUT 10 MINUTES ACROSS TOWN AND BACK AND THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, BUT IT MADE IT. I THOUGHT MAYBE THE BATTERY WAS JUST TRYING TO GET CHARGED UP, SO I DROVE ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND IT WAS FINE. WHEN I CAME OFF THE HIGHWAY, ALL THE DASH LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON AND DINGING AT ME... AND THEN IT DIED AGAIN IN A PARKING LOT. WOULD JUMP AT FIRST BUT RPM METER WOULD JUMP UP AND DOWN AND THEN DIE. EVENTUALLY IT WOULDN'T JUMP AT ALL. REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AGAIN. JUMPED THE VEHICLE, LET IT SIT RUNNING FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. REVVED THE ENGINE AND IT DIED. WON'T START. WON'T EVEN CLICK. CALLED JEEP AND THEY THOUGHT IT WAS A BAD PCM. MECHANIC RENTED A SPECIAL TOOL TO TEST IT. THE PCM IS FINE, BUT THE TIPM MODULE IS BAD. NOW ALL MY OTHER WEIRD ISSUES ARE MAKING SENSE: RADIO DIALS SOMETIMES DON'T WORK, SOMETIMES IT STALLS IN THE COLD AT RANDOMLY. AND THE AIR FLAP ACTUATORS STOPPED WORKING, MEANING THAT NO AIR/HEAT BLOWS OUT THE TOP VENTS. AND THEN IT DYING ON ME RANDOMLY, WITH NO OTHER WARNINGS THAT THINGS WERE GOING WRONG.
HAVE A BAD TIPM. DOORS AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. BROUGHT TO DEALER AND THEY MADE WORSE NOW WINDOWS ARE STUCK OPEN. THEY TOLD ME BAD TIPM AND THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER FOR AN UNKNOWN AMOUNT OF TIME
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT FILLED THE FUEL TANK NUMEROUS TIMES, BUT THE FUEL SPEWED OUT WITH FORCE EACH TIME. THE CONTACT HAD TO MOVE AWAY FROM THE AREA OF THE FUEL TANK EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT OBSERVED STRONG FUEL FUMES INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT COMPLAINED ABOUT THE FUMES AFFECTING HER BREATHING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. A SECOND DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL FILLER TUBE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
DRIVER'S DOOR LOCK QUIT WORKING, NOW WHEN YOU PUT ON WIPERS THE CONTROL PANEL GOES BLACK OR CONSTANTLY FLICKERS. ALSO, AFTER FILLING GAS TANK GAUGE SHOWED EMPTY UNTIL MORE GAS WAS PUT IN. HAD INCIDENT WHERE ALARM WENT OFF WHILE I WAS IN CHURCH. EVERYTHING EXCEPT FILLING GAS TANK AND ALARM WAS WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION.
THIS CONCERN IS RELATED TO THE L15 CUSTOMER SATISFACTION RECALL THAT WAS ISSUES FOR SOME DODGE NITRO AND JEEP LIBERTY MODELS FROM 2010. ONLY SOME OF THE VEHICLES WERE ELIGIBLE FOR REPLACEMENT OF LOCK MECHANISMS ON BOTH RIGHT SIDE DOORS. MY 2010 JEEP LIBERTY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED, BUT IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES WITH THE LOCKING MECHANISM. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING AT THIS POINT UNTIL IF AND/OR WHEN THE RECALL IS EXPANDED TO INCLUDE MY VEHICLE. THIS RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE ALL 2010 DODGE NITRO AND JEEP LIBERTY LOCKING MECHANISMS ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE - NOT JUST SOME VEHICLES. WHEN THERE IS AN ISSUE THAT IS KNOWN, GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE SHOULD REMEDIATE THE ISSUE FOR ALL NOT JUST FOR SOME. I ENCOURAGE THE NHTSA TO LOOK AT THIS CLOSELY AND EXPAND THE REPAIRS FOR THIS TO ALL VEHICLES FOR THIS PRODUCTION YEAR - AND NOT JUST SOME.
AFTER MY BATTERY DIED AND WAS REPLACED, I STARTED THE ENGINE AND IT HAD DEVELOPED A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE. I HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL MECHANICS AND RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET, THE 3.7L JEEP ENGINE IS BAD. AT AROUND 90,000 MILES, THE RODS GO OUT AND THE ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED. LUCKILY FOR ME, I WAS AT MY HOUSE WHEN THIS HAPPENED, BUT THE VEHICLE IS NOT USABLE. I HAVE HEARD WHERE THE ENGINE HAS QUIT WORKING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR THE SAME REASON. THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT WON'T DO ANYTHING.
FIRST INCIDENT WAS IN NOVEMBER TO WHERE MY HEADLIGHTS QUIT WORKING. I SWITCHED OUT THE DUAL SWITCH BUT THAT DID NOT HELP AND THEN TRIED CLEANING AND SWITCHING THE RELAYS AROUND IN THE TIPM AND THAT HELPED SOMEWHAT. NOW I HAVE A WHOLE SET OF PROBLEMS. MY WIPERS WILL NOT SHUT OFF AND HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT SHUT OFF UNLESS I TURN CAR OFF, AND MY BLINKERS ARE NOT WORKING AT ALL. I HAD TO PULL THE FUSE FOR THE WIPERS BUT CANNOT FIND THE FUSE FOR THE BLINKERS BECAUSE IT IS PART OF THE TIPM AS WELL AS THE HEADLIGHTS. I AM WORRIED THAT WITH THESE LITTLE ISSUES COMING UP THAT EVENTUALLY BIGGER ONES WILL HAPPEN IF THE TIPM IS THE PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS, WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL. I DO NOT SEE WHY I SHOULD DISH OUT ALL THIS MONEY TO REPAIR SOMETHING THAT IS A DEFECT.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE CONVENIENCE STORE IN MY TOWN WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS JUST STOPPED WORKING. THE ONLY LIGHTS I HAD WERE THE PARKING LIGHTS. CAR WERE FLASHING ME TO TELL ME TO TURN MY LIGHTS ON BUT THEY WOULD NOT COME ON. I HAVE FOUND OUT BY RESEARCHING ON LINE THAT THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE. I CONTACTED JEEP CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY WOULD NOT OFFER ANY FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER JEEP SHOULD RECALL. THE TOTAL COST TO REPAIR THIS IS $900.00
DURING RAINY WEATHER, DRIVING THE SPEED LIMIT, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE FELT THAT IT WAS GOING UNSTABLE. TRIED CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE WHEN IT VEERED TOWARDS THE RIGHT. LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND WENT INTO A DITCH FOR A ALMOST THIRTY FEET. WAS FINALLY ABLE TO STOP WHEN CRASHED INTO A TRE. SIDE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED BUT NOT THE FRONT AIR BAG. INJURIES TO MY HEAD, NECK AND SHOULDER.
I HAD ORIGINAL HEATER CORE REPLACED DUE TO FOGGING OF WINDSHIELD, NO HEAT AND SMELL OF ANTIFREEZE DURING NOV 2014 WITH APPROXIMATELY 48000 MILES. HEATER CORE WENT AGAIN. STARTED TO HEAR RATTLE UNDER CAR IN MAY 2015. SET UP TO HAVE JEEP LOOKED OVER AT A DEALERSHIP. ON THE WAY TO THE DEALER TEMP GUAGE WENT UP AND BACK DOWN THE HOT! ENGINE SEIZED. I HAD TO PAY OVER 4600 DOLLARS TO HAVE ENGINE REBUILT NOT REPLACED AS WELL AS HEATER CONTROL AND HEATER CORE REPLACED. CHRYSLER IS DENYING THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS NEVER ANY SIGN OF COOLANT LEAK ON MY GARAGE FLOOR
DRIVING WITH MY WIFE ON I-95 NORTH IN CONNECTICUT EARLY SATURDAY MORNING, OUR RIGHT REAR TIRE INSTANTLY LOST AIR PRESSURE. I SAW THE LOW AIR WARNING LIGHT GO ON FIRST, THEN IMMEDIATELY FELT THE VEHICLE WOBBLE TO THE POINT WHERE I COULD BARELY CONTROL IT. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET IT TO THE RIGHT SIDE SHOULDER WHERE I CHANGED THE TIRE. I NOTICED THAT THE ENTIRE VALVE WAS MISSING FROM THE RIM. I DID NOT NOTICE ANY NAILS OR OTHER PENETRATIONS OF THE TIRE ITSELF. HAD IT BEEN ONE OF THE FRONT TIRES, I MIGHT HAVE LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. WHEN WE GOT TO A TIRE STORE TO HAVE THE BAD TIRE CHECKED OUT, THE MECHANIC & THE OWNER SAID WE HAD DEFECTIVE AIR PRESSURE SENSOR VALVES AND THAT WE ESSENTIALLY EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT. THE MECHANIC SHOWED US THE OTHER VALVES AND THEY WERE ALL CRACKED AS WELL. WE HAD THEM ALL REPLACED AND HAD TO BUY A NEW TIRE AS WELL. THE CRACKS IN THE SENSOR VALVES WERE OBVIOUS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY MATTER THAT COULD CAUSE FATALITIES IF THEY HAVE NOT OCCURED ALREADY.
