2017 their was a recall on the 2010 jeep liberty oil pump and we were not notify at all, [XXX] the engine seized and the oil light came on and then the engine just stopped, It was full of oil and the oil was very clean, the mechanic look at it and said that the oil pump went out I am [XXX] the jeep stop in the middle of the road me my husband could have got kill cars almost hit us we have witnesses that can testify to this, we never receive a letter from your company at all about the recall. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES (CRITICAL ERROR - CYLINDER MISFIRE) AND MY CAR VIBRATES/SHAKES WHENEVER I ACCELERATE OR GO UP ANY INCLINE ON A HIGHWAY. I WENT TO SEE A CERTIFIED MECHANIC TODAY (IN MICHIGAN) AND THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE 3.7L ENGINE HAS A DESIGN FLAW THAT ALLOWS A LARGE AMOUNT OF CARBON BUILDUP IN THE CYLINDERS, WHICH LEADS TO MISFIRE ISSUES. IT WILL COST OVER $2,000 TO REPAIR THIS ISSUE (12 HOURS WORTH OF WORK - THEY HAVE TO TAKE APART THE CYLINDERS AND WHOLE IGNITION/INTAKE SYSTEM, CLEAN THE PARTS, AND REPLACE GASKETS). THE MECHANIC SAYS THAT MY CAR IS NO LONGER SAFE FOR HIGHWAY DRIVING AND CAN BREAK DOWN AT ANY TIME. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 104,000 MILES. JEEP SHOULD NOT GET AWAY WITH SUCH A HORRIBLE DESIGN FLAW THAT WILL CAUSE MY CAR TO BREAK DOWN.
WHEN WE DRIVE TO GREATCLIP HAIR CUT STORE FROM DOLLARS STORE THRU FREEWAY, JEEP DIDN'T WARNING ANYTHING THAT WILLING TO BREAK DOWN, I STARTED SMELLED LITTLE OIL BURN AND WE PARKED JEEP BY GREATCLIP TO DROP WIFE THERE AND I TURNED ENGINE TO GOING AND IT'S SMELL STRONGER BURNS . I CHECKED IT OUT THAT VALVE COVER GOT CRACKED AND LITTLE HOLE. I ASKED WIFE TO START UP AND I SAW A LOT OF OIL COME OUT OF VALVE COVER HOLE . WE CALLED TOW TO COME PICK UP TO AVOID GET ENGINE SEIZURES AND I THOUGHT IT'S VALVE COVER THEN I WENT TO AUTOZONE TO BUY VALVE COVER AND GASKET AND WENT HOME TO WORK ON JEEP. I REMOVED VALVE COVER AND FOUND A ROCKER BROKE THE METAL OF ENGINE HEAD IN PASSAGES SIDE. I HEARD A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO WORK AT DEALERSHIP SHOP AND OTHER SHOP SAID ALL 3.7 LITER V6 ISN'T GOOD ENGINE FOR JEEP BECAUSE IT'S KEEP BLEW OR PROBLEMS. IT'S ONLY 170,000 MILES ON ENGINE. WE JUST BOUGHT 2 MONTHS AGO IT'S WAS GOOD ENGINE AND RUN WONDERFUL THEN IT'S BROKE DOWN FOR NO REASON. I HAD OLDER JEEP HAS NEVER PROBLEMS WITH ME UNTIL THIS ONE CAUSED ME PROBLEMS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PALLIES AUTO SALES (856-589-6888, LOCATED AT 540A DELSEA DR, SEWELL, NJ 08080) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN TOPPED OFF THE ENGINE COOLANT AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO LEAVE THE VEHICLE AT THE SHOP FOR OBSERVATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS FAILING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,000.

AFTER MY BATTERY DIED AND WAS REPLACED, I STARTED THE ENGINE AND IT HAD DEVELOPED A KNOCKING NOISE IN THE ENGINE. I HAVE SPOKEN TO SEVERAL MECHANICS AND RESEARCHED ON THE INTERNET, THE 3.7L JEEP ENGINE IS BAD. AT AROUND 90,000 MILES, THE RODS GO OUT AND THE ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED. LUCKILY FOR ME, I WAS AT MY HOUSE WHEN THIS HAPPENED, BUT THE VEHICLE IS NOT USABLE. I HAVE HEARD WHERE THE ENGINE HAS QUIT WORKING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR THE SAME REASON. THE MANUFACTURER KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT WON'T DO ANYTHING.

DURING PRODUCTION OF MOST JEEP MODELS USING THE JR ENGINES, THERE WAS AN ISSUE IN THE COOLING SYSTEM CAUSING BLOCKAGE OF THE HEATER CORE, RADIATOR, ENGINE BLOCK, THERMOSTAT, AND/OR WATER PUMP. THE ISSUE IS WELL KNOWN BY JEEP OWNERS FROM MAINLY 2010-2012 JEEPS, BUT CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADMIT AND FIX THE ISSUE. THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE TYPICALLY HAS BEEN LINKED TO EITHER A) CASTING SAND USED IN THE PRODUCTION OF THE MOTOR, OR B) CHEMICALS IN THE COOLANT DEVELOPING A SAND-LIKE SLUDGE. MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN TWO FAILED HEATER CORES WITHIN 9 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. THE FIRST INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 25DEC2013 AND WAS REPAIRED 30DEC2013 AT 68,345 MILES. ON A TRIP AWAY FROM HOME IT FAILED AGAIN ON 11SEP2014 AT 85,157 MILES. ON THE MOST RECENT OCCURRENCE, WHEN THE HEATER CORE CLOGGED AND BLEW, THE SYSTEM BLEW HOT STEAM INTO THE CABIN AND COOLANT (AROUND A TEMPERATURE OF 200*F) POURED ONTO THE PASSENGERS SIDE FLOORBOARD. LUCKILY I DID NOT HAVE THE HEAT VENTS TURNED TO ME OR HAD A PASSENGER AT THE TIME BECAUSE I OR MY PASSENGER WOULD HAVE LIKELY BEEN INJURED. THE SAFETY ISSUED CALLED INTO QUESTION DUE TO THE ISSUE ARE A) BURNS RESULTING FROM FAILURE OF HEATER CORE, B) BECOMING STRANDED WITH NO HEAT DUE TO HEATER CORE OR RADIATOR FAILURE, C) BECOMING STRANDED BECAUSE OF ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO OVERHEATING CAUSED BY CLOGGED COOLING SYSTEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED SIX TIMES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND 02 SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 35221828. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,355. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
THE NOIL FILTER IS IN A BAD PLACE THAT CAUSES OIL TO COLLECT IN ALL AREAS OF THE ENGINE AND SKID PLATES THAT CAUSE EXCESS DRIPS ON MY GARAGE FLOOR. SMOKE ON THE HOT ENGINE PARTS AND COULD CAUSE A FIRE EACH TIME THE OIL FILTER IS CHANGED. I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY REMIND THE DEALER TO COMPLETELY SPRAY AND DEGREASE THE UNDER AREAS AND SIDES OF THE ENGINE EACH TIME OR I HAVE TO RETURN NUMEROUS TIMES ABOUT OIL LEAKS. NOT ON A INCLINE, CAR WAS FLAT, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, 68 DEGREES OUTSIDE, NOT HOT/OVERHEATING, NO GAUGE OR WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON BEFORE OR AFTER IT DIED. NO AC WAS IN USE. ONLY THING BEING USED WAS VENT AND THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER TO POWER MY SON'S DVD PLAYER IN THE BACK SEAT. NO STEREO WAS ON EITHER. ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWED IN JEEP FORUMS THAT OTHER OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THEIR JEEPS STALLING OUT FOR NO APPARENT REASON. JEEP HAS GIVEN THEM NO EXPLANATION OR OFFER TO FIX. TAKING MINE IN ON MONDAY AM TO DEALER TO INQUIRE AS TO WHAT COULD HAVE POSSIBLE CAUSED THIS. DO NOT KNOW IF MINE IS PART OF THE TWO RECALLS THAT JEEP HAS OUT NOW FOR THE LIBERTY BUT WILL INQUIRE ABOUT THEM AS WELL, AND ASK IF THEY COULD BE THE CAUSE OF MINE STALLING OUT FOR NO REASON. *TR
