EVERY TIME THAT I FILL THE FUEL TANK, MY JEEP STALLS ONE TO THREE TIMES WITHIN THE FIRST COUPLE MILES. THIS CAN HAPPEN AT A STOP LIGHT, DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, OR WHILE MAKING A LOW SPEED TURN. I HAVEN'T BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT DUE TO THIS ISSUE YET, BUT THERE HAVE BEEN CLOSE CALLS TO DATE. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC TO GET THE ISSUE DIAGNOSED AND I WAS INFORMED THAT IT IS DUE TO A FAULTY ROLL OVER VALVE LOCATED ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE ONLY WAY TO CORRECT THE ISSUE IS TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK WHICH IS VERY COSTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP PATRIOT. AFTER THE CONTACT REFILLED THE FUEL TANK, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF WHILE ACCELERATING. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR FROM WORK AND THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS UNSTEADY, THE RED LIGHT ALSO CAME ON BUT I DID NOT STOP. UPON ARRIVING HOME THERE WAS BEEPING SOUNDS BUT I HAD MY KEY AND LIGHTS OFF. I PROCEEDED TO THE HOUSE AND THE FOLLOWING MORNING THE CAR WONT START, TRIED JUMP STARTING TO NO AVAIL. CONTACTED JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THE SAID IT WAS WIRELESS IGNITION MODULE AND A NEW KEY NEEDED. I HAVE ALSO SEEN HUNDREDS OF OTHER DRIVERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE. TWO DAYS AGO THE CAR COULD NOT ENGAGE GEAR AND WAS LEFT SHAKING AND AFTER SHIFTING TO A LOWER GEAR IT GAINED CONTROL.
I'VE MADE A COMPLAINT ALREADY BUT MY 2010 JEEP PATRIOT AGAIN STALLED OUT AFTER GETTING A FULL TANK OF GAS AND DRIVING OFF, LUCKILY STILL AT THE GAS STATION AND WHEN I WAS GETTING COFFEE FOR MY 3 AND A HALF HOUR DRIVE TO SCHOOL, IT STALLED OUT 3 MORE TIMES WHEN I AM IN DRIVE. I WAS SCARED IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT ON ME WHILE I'M DRIVING FOR THE WHOLE DRIVE. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED AND WHAT IF IT HAPPENED WHEN I AM ON THE ROAD AND THERE IS A CAR BEHIND ME? I COULD GET REAR ENDED. MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE PATRIOT.
AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS CAR STUMBLES AND DIES AT STOPS FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES MINUTES AFTERWARDS. THIS PROCEDURE GOES ON FOR ABOUT TEN MILES ALL I READ SAYS IT IS A SAFETY VALVE ON TOP OFF GAS TANK. ONLY WAY TO FIX IS RELACE THE WHOLE GAS TANK. THIS HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR JUST SETTING IDLELING. RPM STARTS TO DECREACE AND SMOTHERS PLUM OUT. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED IT HAS DONE THIS EVER SINCE IVE OWNED IT.
WHENEVER I PUT A FULL TANK OF GAS IN MY CAR, MY CAR STALLS OUT. ONE TIME, I JUST LEFT THE GAS STATION AND IT STALLED AND THEN WHEN I WENT TO GET FOOD, IT STALLED OUT AGAIN. I'VE HEARD OF OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE PATRIOTS, IT HAPPENS TO THEM. MY CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND IT ALSO HAPPENED WHEN I WAS STOPPED WITH MY FOOT ON THE BRAKES. ONE TIME IT HAPPENED WHEN MY PATRIOT WAS IN PARKED. IT'S VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF SOMEONE WAS TURNING, THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO SINCE THE WHEEL LOCKS SO YOU CAN'T TURN IT. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS BECAUSE IT COULD BE THE FUEL TANK OR THE GAS CAP FROM WHAT I'VE HEARD AND IT'S NOT JUST ME HAVING THIS ISSUE.
VEHICLE IN MOTION - CUT OFF/LOSS OF POWER WHEN ACCELERATING FROM RAMP ONTO BUSY HIGHWAY WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD IN VEHICLE [CAUSE UNKNOWN, VEHICLE IS NOT THROWING ANY CODES] VEHICLE IN GOING FROM STATIONARY TO IN MOTION - WHEN GOING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN OUT OF A SHOPPING CENTER CAR STALED WITH ME AND MY 2 YEAR OLD IN IT, WITH ON COMING TRAFFIC. QUICKLY PUT CAR IN PARK, CAR WOULD NOT START, HAD A LONG START, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FREAKED OUT, I COULD NOT STOP IT BY TURNING OFF THE KEY, KEY WOULDNT MOVE. [UNKNOWN CAUSE] VEHICLE IN MOTION - BUCKING AND STALING AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS [CAUSE UNKNOWN, COULD BE VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE] VEHICLE STATIONARY - WHEN FUELING, AFTER REMOVING NOZZLE SOUND OF AIR BEING SUCKED INTO THE GAS TANK [VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE AT TOP OF FUEL TANK] VEHICLE STATIONARY/RUNNING - AT IDLE CAR RANDOMLY DROPS RPMS AND TRIES TO STALL [UNKNOWN CAUSE] VEHICLE IN MOTION - GRINDING SOUND WHILE DRIVING, LOSS IN THE ABILITY TO RESPOND QUICKLY TO PUSHING ON GAS PEDAL, CAUSING AN OVERLOAD ON CVT TRANSMISSION [UNKNOWN CAUSE, MAYBE DRIVE TRAIN] VEHICLE IN MOTION - WHEN DRIVING WHINING SOUND [UNKNOWN CAUSE] MIXED ADVICE FROM MECHANIC SOME SAY COULD BE CVT TRANSMISSION OTHERS HAVE CITED TECHNICAL REPAIR NOTICE FOR WHINING OF POWER STEERING. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON RANDOMLY SINCE FEB 2018.
THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING, FOLLOWING A FILL UP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF, AND ALL POWER IS LOST, INCLUDING POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKES. REQUIRES ATTEMPTING TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE STOP. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE WE WERE ALMOST REAR ENDED DUE TO HAVING TO STOP IN THE ROADWAY. REQUIRES WAITING BRIEFLY, AND THEN THE VEHICLE MAY RESTART, HOWEVER, IT WILL ALSO STALL OUT AGAIN UNTIL THE FUEL LEVEL IN THE TANK DECREASES. IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT THIS IS OCCURRING ON MANY JEEP PATRIOT AND COMPASS MODELS OVER MANY MODEL YEARS.
VEHICLE STALLS OUT DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AFTER FILLING GAS TANK TO FULL LEVEL. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT MANY PEOPLE WITH THE JEEP PATRIOT ARE EXPERIENCING. THE FIX IS KNOWN. WHEN WILL THIS ISSUE BE RECALLED AND ADDRESSED?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL SUDDENLY DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DISCOVERED THAT THE FRONT CROSS MEMBER FAILED DUE TO CORROSION OF THE SUBFRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000. *TT *TR
PASSENGER SEAT 11/10/2018HEADREST DEPLOYED ON ITS OWN
THE CAR STALLS AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK. HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES.
WHEN I TRAVEL AND I WANT ACCELERATION CAN'T DO BECAUSE TURNING OFF AND CAN'T MOVE THE CAR. BEFORE WAS AFTER 70 AND NOW AFTER 55 MPH.
AT ANY SPEED THE JEEP IS APT TO START WOBBLING SIDE TO SIDE AFTER DRIVING OVER BUMPS. (FREQUENTLY CALLED THE "DEATH WOBBLE" BY JEEP OWNERS WHEN DESCRIBING THIS CONDITION.) AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO STAY IN LANES. THE HOOD HINGES DO NOT HOLD THE HOOD SECURELY DOWN. AT SPEEDS ABOVE 30MPH YOU CAN WITNESS THE HOOD WOBBLING UP AND DOWN AND SIDE TO SIDE. MY JEEP PATRIOT 2010 TURNED ON THE HEAD LIGHTS ON WITHOUT ME TO DOING IT AND TURNED THE LIGHTS OFF WHEN DRIVING.
MY JEEP STALLS AFTER FILLING TANK WITH GAS AND I BELIEVE IT IS A FAULTY VALVE INSIDE THE TANK ITSELF WHICH REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE TANK AND SHOULD BE A RECALL--THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO STALL WHILE DRIVING AWAY FROM GAS STATION. I HAVE A 2010 JEEP PATRIOT AND IT HAS BEEN HAVING RANDOM ISSUES THAT IT TURNS OUT ARE RELATED TO A FAILED TIPM WHICH CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT AND IS NOT ADDRESSING. MY HORN RANDOMLY HONKS, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY IN A RECENT SMALL ACCIDENT, AND NOW THE CAR WON'T START. ALL OF THESE ITEMS ARE NOTED AS RELATED TO A FAILING TIPM AND ALL CAN BE FOUND ALL OVER THE INTERNET WHEN SEARCHING FOR "2010 JEEP PATRIOT WON'T START". BASED ON THE MOST RECENT PROBLEM (NO STARTING), I REPLACED THE BATTERY AND THE STARTER WITH NO FIX. JEEP SHOULD HAVE TO FIX THIS IF THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT IT AND THE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IMPLICATIONS. RIGHT NOW THE CAR IS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY BECAUSE I HAD TO GET IT TOWED HOME.
MY 2010 JEEP PATRIOT WAS PURCHASED AT JEEP, DODGE, CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN JAX FL OFF BLANDING BLVD. I HAVE HAD MY VEHICLE SINCE MAY 2018 AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DRIVE IT IN ALMOST 3 MONTHS DUE TO TRANSMISSION THAT IS TO COSTLY TO FIX. IT BROKE DOWN IN AUGUST 2018, GOT IT FIXED IN OCTOBER 31ST 2018 AND IT BROKE DOWN ON ME AGAIN ON NOVEMBER 3RD 2018. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES BECAUSE ALL THE REPORTS I READ ON THEM ARE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE CVT TRANSMISSIONS THAT'S IN THEM. I GOT ANOTHER TRANSMISSION AND IT'S DOING THE SAME THING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF THE DRIVER. WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE SEAT BELTS FAILED TO KEEP THE OCCUPANTS RESTRAINED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE CHILD IN A CHILD SAFETY SEAT ON THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE SUSTAINED A BURN FROM THE SEAT BELT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT EMAILED THE MANUFACTURER IN REGARDS TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,772.
AFTER FILLING MY TANK THE JEEP WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF. THIS HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN 10 TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR.

THE VEHICLE REGULARLY STALLS, BUT UNEXPECTANTLY TO THOSE AROUND ME IN TRAFFIC, AFTER FILLING THE TANK.
SINCE FEBRUARY 5TH, 2018, MY 2010 PATRIOT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3 TIMES FOR STALLING ISSUES, ALL SEEMINGLY AFTER FILLING MY GAS TANK. THE STALLING HAPPENS WITHIN MOMENTS AFTER DRIVING AWAY FROM THE GAS PUMP, AND MY VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE TOWED EACH TIME, COSTING ME EVERY TIME. VARIOUS 'FIXES' HAVE BEEN MADE, INCLUDING NEW SPARK PLUGS, TRANSMISSION FUEL CHANGE AND MOST RECENTLY, A ESIM AND DETECTOR. THE LATEST MECHANIC AT THE JEEP DEALER THAT REPAIRS MY VEHICLE SAID THE ISSUE WAS FROM GASOLINE GETTING INTO THE ESIM AND CAUSING A SAFETY STALL. FROM OTHERS I HAVE READ FROM, THIS ISSUE IS VERY COMMON AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED PERMANENTLY AND CORRECT FOR OWNERS, IN PREVENTION OF INJURY OR DEATH. SOME I HAVE READ FROM MENTION THE ROLLOVER VALVE IN THE GAS TANK NEEDS REPLACEMENT, WHICH WOULD THEREFOR REQUIRE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK TO NEED REPLACEMENT, A HEFTY PRICE FOR SOMETHING THAT SEEMS TO BE THE ERROR ON CHRYSLERS' BEHALF. I NO LONGER FEEL SAFE TO GO ON LONG TRIPS WITH MY VEHICLE, WHICH I PURCHASED PRE OWNED JUST LAST YEAR. PLEASE TAKE ACTION ON THIS ISSUE AS I KNOW MANY OWNERS ARE SUFFERING FROM THE SAME ISSUE THAT CAN BE DANGEROUS.
AFTER FILLING UP WITH GAS, THE CAR STARTED JERKING WHEN DRIVING. WHEN SITTING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF. THIS OCCURS AFTER FILLING UP THE TANK WITH GAS. WHEN SITTING AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, THE CARS RPM'S DROP THAT THE CAR ALMOST SHUTS OFF IF YOU DON'T KEEP IT MOVING.
MY SON JUST CALLED ME AND THIS IS THE SECOND VALVE STEM WHICH HAS BROKEN OFF, ENDING UP WITH A FLAT TIRE. HE WAS ATTEMPTING TO UNSCREW THE VALVE STEM CAP WHEN THE STEM BROKE OFF AND THE TIRE WENT FLAT. THE FIRST ONE WHICH BROKE, SIMILAR SITUATION, APPEARED TO HAVE DEFECTIVE METAL OR FLAW. I BELIEVE THIS COMPONENT SHOULD LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE (UNLESS DAMAGAE THROUGH AN ACCIDENT OR SIMILAR).
WITHIN 7 YEARS IN A RUST BELT STATE THE JEEPS CROSSMEMBER IS SO RUSTED ITS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE. MY JEEP HAS BEEN SITTING PARKED FOR TWO YEARS BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO REPARE THIS HORRIBLE RUST DAMAGE, ONLY TO FIND OUT THERE HAS BEEN AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS SINCE 2017, I WAS NOT INFORMED BECAUSE ITS NOT A RECALL.. THIS WAS KNOWN BY CHESTER/JEEP SINCE THE 2007 MODEL, I'M GLAD THEY AT LEAST OFFER A 10 YEAR EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE CROSSMEMEBER, HOWEVER THATS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. PEOPLE NEED TO BE MADE AWARE THAT THEIR VEHICLE MAY SNAP IN HALF WITH LITTLE OR NO WARNING TO THE AVERAGE DRIVER. THIS IS JUST AS SERIOUS AS A SEAT BELT OR AIRBAG MALFUNCTION AND YET THIS ISN'T A RECALL? THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW THEIR VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE, A RECALL IS THE ONLY WAY THAT INFORMATION WILL SPREAD FAST AND FAR ENOUGH TO MATTER AND POSSIBLY SAVE LIVES, NOT JUST A FEW DOLLARS.
WHEN FILL GAS TANK, CAR STALLS OUT WHEN MAKING TURNS ON ANY ROADWAY.
MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. I TOOK TO JEEP DELEARSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT EVEN AFTER THE REPAIR, THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THE AIRBAG WOULD DEPLOY. THEY PREFORMED THE REPAIR BUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS STILL ON. THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR SOME REWIRING IN THE DRIVER SEAT WHICH WOULD COST ABOUT $300. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAG WILL JUST DEPLOY SPONTANEOUSLY OR NOT DEPLOY IN A COLLISION. WILL YOU PLEASE ADVISE ME WHAT IS SUPPOSE TO HAPPEN AFTER THIS RECALL AND WHAT I SHOULD EXPECT. THANKS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TAYLOR AUTOMOTIVE (11989 HWY 22, MARTIN, TN) WHERE THEY REPLACED THE FUEL CAP AND PARTS RELATED TO THE FUEL SYSTEM, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
EVERY TIME I FILLUP MY JEEP I GET WITHIN 1 MILE OF GAS STATION IT BEGINS TO STALL. THIS HAPPENED EVERYTIME I FILL UP FOR THE PAST 5 YEARS. THE JEEP WILL JUST SHUTOFF AND THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING BEING THAT IT STALLED. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO CRASH MANY TIMES AND TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED JEEP DEALERSHIP SAID I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK. DOING SOME RESEARCH LOTS OF PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO THEM AND BEING VERY COSTLY TO FIX. THE ITEM THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED IS THE (FUEL TANK ROLLOVER VALVE) JEEP DOESN'T MAKE A REPLACEMENT PART FOR THIS AND THAT IS WHY YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. WHILE DRIVING AROUND 40 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY THE JEEP SLOWED DOWN AND STALLED. NO WARNINGS OR INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON AT THAT TIME. SHUT JEEP DOWN AND RESTARTED WAITING A FEW SECONDS BEFORE ACCELERATING. AT THE TIME OF ACCELERATING JEEP STUTTERED A BIT AND THEN DROVE FROM 5 MPH TO 20 MPH WITHOUT ENCOURAGEMENT FROM GAS PETAL. IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BREAK AND CAR STALLED AGAIN. AGAIN RESTARTED THE CAR TO MOVE OFF OF HIGHWAY AND THE THROTTLE INDICATOR LIGHT FINALLY CAME ON. VERY CONCERNED THAT THERE WAS NO WARNING, LIGHT, OR CHANGE IN DRIVING BEFORE STALLING WITH KIDS IN THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A DEADLY ACCIDENT HAD I NOT BEEN DRIVING AT 7 AM WITH NO TRAFFIC ON THE ROAD.
SAFTY RECALL N01 / NHTSA 13V-233 AND S61 / NHTSA 16V-668 I TOOK MY 2010 JEEP PATRIOT IN FOR THE ABOVE FACTORY RECALLS ON 11/21/2017 TO YOUNG CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF IONIA IN IONIA, MI AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PARTS TO FIX THIS RECALL. I WAS TOLD I WOULD BE CONTACTED WHEN PARTS WERE AVAILABLE BUT NOT OFFERED A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE UNTIL THE REPAIRS ARE MADE. I FEEL THAT IS VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT COULD HAVE THESE POSSIBLE LIFE THREATENING PROBLEMS.

WHEN TRYING TO FILL THE GAS TANK IN A STOPPED POSITION WITH THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF, THE HOSE CONTINUALLY SHUTS OFF AS IF THE TANK IS FULL WHEN IT IS NOT. PRIOR TO THIS ISSUE, THE CAR WOULD SOMETIMES SHUTTER AND FEEL LIKE IT WAS GOING TO STALL OUT AFTER FILLING THE TANK.
BAD BALL JOINTS SAME AS MANY OTHERS. ALSO BAD SUB FRAME. TOOK AUTO IN FOR MAINTENANCE AND WAS SHOWN BAD BALL JOINTS AND A RUSTED OUT SUB FRAME. THESE WERE ISSUES AND EARLIER PATRIOTS BUT NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE.
ADDING FUEL TO VEHICLE TANK RESULTS IN FUEL GUSHING OUT OF FUEL FILLER PIPE. IT APPEARS THE FUEL TANK CANNOT VENT THE AIR IN THE TANK AS NEW FUEL IS ADDED AND THIS FORCES NEWLY ADDED FUEL BACK OUT OF THE FILLER PIPE. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS AND COMMON PROBLEM REGARDING FAULTY ROLLOVER VALVES ON THE FUEL TANK ON SEVERAL JEEP MODELS/YEARS ACCORDING TO ONLINE FORUMS .
AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OVERHEATING. VERY DANGEROUS TO HAPPEN SPECIALLY IF YOU ARE IN THE FREEWAY. I BELIEVE THAT THEY MAKE THIS MODEL THINKING THAT DRIVERS WILL CONSIDER NOT TO ACCELERATE SPEED IN A HOT CLIMATE. CAR IS AT 75 MPH IN THE FREEWAY ON A HOT CLIMATE OF 80F.
MAYBE 5 MINUTES AFTER REFUELING MY GAS TANK, THE CAR WILL UNEXPECTEDLY LOSE POWER AND SHUT OFF. IT IS DIFFICULT TO RESTART. I END UP SITTING IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY ROADS UNABLE TO RESTART MY CAR OR PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER PEOPLE WITH JEEPS HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM. VERY DANGEROUS. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO BELIEVES IT IS A FAULTY ROLLOVER VALVE/SENSOR.
A FEW DAYS AFTER HIITTING A POTHOLE ON A COUNTRY PAVED ROAD, MY PATRIOT LOST WIPERS, HEADLIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS & REAR WIPER. NONE OF THE FUSES WERE DAMAGED OR BLOWN. I HAD THE DEALER RUN DIAGNOSTICS BUT NOTHING SHOWED UP. I HAD THE FUSE BOX & RELAYS REPLACED. IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN WITHOUT WARNING WHILE SITTING STILL & SOMETIMES WHILE IN MOTION. VERY DANGEROUS IN RAIN.
MY SISTER WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE. SHE FELT CAR WHEELS PULLING TO ONE SIDE. VEHICLE BEGAN TO VEER OUT OF CONTROL WHERE SHE TRIED TO STABLIZE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON TWO WAY STREET WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS KEEPING STRAIGHT WITH NO TURNS.
WHEN I GO TO PUT FUEL IN TANK, THE GAS PUMP KEEPS SHUTTING OFF EVERY FEW SECONDS. IT TAKES FOREVER TO PUT ANY AMOUNT OF FUEL IN TANK. THIS PROBLEM STARTED A FEW MONTHS BACK.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND DID NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WOULD ARRIVE. THE CONTACT WAS UPSET THAT HE COULD NOT TRADE IN THE VEHICLE DUE TO AN OPEN RECALL. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
UPON REFILLING THE GAS TANK TO FULL FROM NEAR EMPTY, THE CAR WILL IMMEDIATELY STUTTER AND OCCASIONALLY STALL FOR UP TO FIVE MINUTES. I DISCOVERED THIS UPON PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC AND THE ENGINE TURNING OFF. THIS LED TO LOSS OF POWER STEERING AS WELL. OTHER CARS HAD TO IMMEDIATELY DIVERT OR COLLIDE INTO MY CAR. UPON RESTARTING THE CAR DID THIS THREE MORE TIMES WITHIN 2 MILES. NO EMERGENCY LIGHTS OR WARNING LIGHTS GO OFF. THIS IS ALLEGEDLY A FUEL SYSTEM PROBLEM AND THE ENGINE IS "CHOKING" DUE TO A FAULTY SENSOR. THIS HAS OCCURRED THREE TIMES NOW.
THE SUNROOF ON THE 2010 JEEP PATRIOT DOES NOT SEAL AGAINST THE EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE ALLOWING MORE WATER INTO THE CABIN THEN THE TWO DRAINS CAN HANDLE. THE DRAINS CLOG EASILY DUE TO THE EXCESS WATER MAKING THE ISSUE EVEN WORSE. WATER ENTERS THE CAR AS THE SUNROOF WATER PAN FILLS UP AND LEAKS OUT OF THE CABIN DOME LIGHT AND DOWN THE SIDES OF THE CAR. WATER THEN ENTERS ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS BEHIND THE DASH RESULTING IN RADIO FAILURE, SHORTING MULTIPLE COMPONENTS THAT PREVENT THE CAR FROM TURNING OFF WITHOUT REMOVING THE IOD FUSE, AND CAUSING THE ENGINE WATER TEMPERATURE TO PEG. DEALERSHIPS HAVE TRIED MULTIPLE SOLUTIONS EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY, BUT THE ISSUE REMAINS AND THEY HAVE BEGUN TO CLAIM IT IT A DRAIN MAINTENANCE ISSUE AND NOT A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

I PAID EXTRA TO HAVE EXTRA PROTECTIVE UNDERCOATING PUT ON.STATIONARY MY COMPUTER CANNOT SEND YOU ANY OF THE DOCUMENTATION I HAVE. I AM ALSO CONTACTING OHIO ATTORNEY GENERALS OFFICE AS I SEE THERE ARE MANY OTHER COMPLAINTS JUST LIKE MINE ABOUT THE EXACT SAME THING.

I'VE CONTACTED JEEP DIRECTLY AND CUSTOMER SERVICE STATES THAT IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THERE IS NO RECALLS ON THIS ISSUE. I'VE REPLACED 3 VALVE STEMS IN ONE WEEK. MY LATEST ONE HAPPENED TODAY ON AN INTERSTATE THAT COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A HORRIBLE CRASH. I DO HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF RECEIPTS THAT I CAN'T UPLOAD AT THE MOMENT THAT STATE "BAD" VALVE STEMS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 (NA) JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING FAILED. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000.
THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH. I WAS DRIVING ON A BACK COUNTRY ROAD AND SLIGHTLY TURNED THE WHEEL TO FOLLOW THE CURVE IN THE ROAD WHEN THE WHEEL LOCKED UP. FORTUNATELY, I WAS SHARING THE ROAD WITH JUST A FEW OTHER DRIVERS, IT WAS A SLIGHT BEND IN THE ROAD, AND I WAS ABLE TO USE THE BREAKS. AFTER I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP, I HAD TO UTILIZE GREAT FORCE TO TURN THE LOCKED STEERING WHEEL. IT SEEMED LIKE THAT MAYBE LOOSENED IT UP SOME BUT NOT QUITE ALL THE WAY??? THEN, I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES, RESTARTED IT, AND THEN IT SEEMED TO BE OK. AFTER BEING INSPECTED BY A MECHANIC, I WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ISSUE FOR THIS TO HAVE HAPPEN. THEY SAID THAT FURTHER DISASSEMBLING COULD POSSIBLY LOCATE A PROBLEM. THIS IS EXTREMELY CONCERNING AND HAZARDOUS! I'M NOT SURE IF OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AS WELL BUT IT SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE LOOKED INTO!

AS I WAS DRIVING ON I-70 FROM MY HOSPITAL JOB IN THE MORNING RUSH COMMUTE, MY PATRIOT DECIDED TO DROP SPEED FROM 70 MPH TO 30 MPH ON A BLINK OF AN EYE. THIS TIME SINCE I WAS ALONE JUST PUTTING ME IN DANGER UNLIKE THE LAST TIME IN 2013 WHEN IT HAPPEN THAT MY 11 YEAR OLD AND 1 YEAR OLD BABY WERE ON BOARD. I SWERVE TO THE SHOULDER YET AGAIN TO AVOID BEING HIT BY TRAFICC I PROCEED AS I RECALL TO TURN IGNITION OFF AND TRY TO MAINTAIN TACOMETER FROM REACHING 3000 RPM TO AVOID TRANSMISSION SAFE MODE TO KICK IN AGAIN AS I MAKE IT HOME.

I TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON AND LIGHT CAME OFF AND POWER WAS RESTORED BUT AS SOON AS THE TACHOMETER REACH 3000 RPM TEMP LIGHT BACK ON AND LOSS OF POWER CAME BACK. I TURN OFF VEHICLE ONCE AGAIN AND RETURNED TO COLORADO SPRINGS STRAIGHT TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS DIAGNOSED WITH TRANSMISSION INTERNAL FAILURE 3 YEARS AFTER I PURCHASE BRAND NEW AT 73,687 MILES ON ODOMETER. POWER TRAIN WARRANTY COVER THE CVT REPLACEMENT AND FOUND OUT THAT 100'S OF PATRIOTS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. FAST FORWARD 3 YEARS LATER 2/2017 WHINING NOISE CAME BACK LIGHT CAME BACK BUT NO WARRANTY AND UNFORTUNATELY DEALER ESTIMATES $6000.00 REPLACEMENT BILL. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH JETCO CVT'S ARE THE PROBLEM AND AFTER MANY COMPLAINS PATRIOTS NO LONGER WITH CVT'S BUT I'M STUCK WITH A NON WORKING WORTHLESS VEHICLE IN MY DRY WAY.
