I RECENTLY BROUGHT MY 2010 JEEP PATRIOT IN FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. MY MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT MY REAR SUB FRAME HAS ROTTED AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ASAP. AT THIS VISIT, HE CLEANED AND OILED IT AND ALSO ADVISED ME TO TAKE CARE OF THIS ASAP.
ON RANDOM OCCASION WHILE DRIVING, MY 2010 JEEP PATRIOT HESITATES AND LURCHES WHEN I ACCELERATE. IT HAS ALSO STALLED WHILE I WAIT AT A RED LIGHT. IT HAS ALSO STALLED WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP WHILE I AND WHILE MY DAUGHTER HAS DRIVEN THE CAR. I HAVE HAD THREE DIFFERENT MECHANICS DIAGNOSE AND THEY CAN FIND NOTHING ON THE DIAGNOSTICS REPORT. THIS IS UNSAFE AND CAN CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I SEE THERE HAVE BEEN MANY SUCH COMPLAINTS COVERING MANY JEEP MODELS, YEARS AND MAKES AND I CANNOT UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL OR INVESTIGATION INTO THIS PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE APPROACHING TO STOP, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
CAN NOT PUT FUEL INTO THE GAS TANK. THE PUMP SHUTS OFF EVERY FEW SECONDS DUE TO BACK PRESSURE. A MECHANIC CHECKED THE SYSTEM AND SAID THE PROBLEM WAS A STUCK ROLL OVER VALVE INSIDE THE FUEL TANK AND THE ENTIRE GAS TANK WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $1400. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, GAS SPLASHES OUT ONTO CAR AND ANYONE TRYING TO FILL THE TANK. SPILLING GASOLINE ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAR AN MYSELF IS A SAFETY HAZARD!

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000. FUEL SPEWS OUT EVERY TIME I TRY TO PUT GAS IN THE VEHICLE. I AM ONLY ABLE TO PUT 20 OR 30 CENTS IN AT A TIME. THIS STARTED ON 11/01/16 TO PRESENT TIME AND HAPPENS EVERY TIME I TRY TO PUT FUEL IN TANK.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE NOTIFICATION IN OCTOBER OF 2016. AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED WITH THE DEALER (CHRYSLER JEEP RAM, 500 PRESCOTT LAKES PKWY, PRESCOTT, AZ, 86301). WHEN THE CONTACT ARRIVED FOR HIS APPOINTMENT, HE WAS INFORMED THAT PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THAT PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE; HOWEVER, THEY CONTINUED TO SEND RECALL NOTIFICATIONS TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2014 FROM THOROUGHBRED NISSAN IN TUCSON, AZ A FEW MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW THREE YEARS LATER THE TRANSMISSION IS AGAIN SLIPPING AND HAS ALREADY CAUSED STALLS ON THE HIGHWAY. ONE OF THE TIMES THE JEEP STALLED JUST AS I SWITCHED LANES IN FRONT OF A SEMI ON AN INTERSTATE HIGHWAY ,I WAS BARELY ABLE TO PULL THE CAR OVER AND OUT OF THE PATH OF THE TRUCK RIGHT BEFORE THE CAR COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER IN CALIFORNIA WHERE I NOW RESIDE AND THEY HAVE INFORMED ME I HAVE TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AND THERE IS NO LONGER NO WARRANTY. I HAVE ALSO TAKEN THE JEEP TO TWO OTHER PLACES THAT SPECIALIZE ON TRANSMISSION AND THEY HAVE BOTH INFORMED ME THAT THE TRANSMISSION UTILIZED IN THIS TYPE OF JEEP HAS MANY PROBLEMS AND THAT THEY WOULD RECOMMEND I BUY A NEW CAR ALL TOGETHER AS I AM LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE SIMILAR PROBLEMS IN ABOUT 2-3 YEARS IF I CHOOSE TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED, EVEN IF I CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN IT PROPERLY AS I HAVE BEEN. THIS JEEP IS ONLY 7 YEARS OLD AND IS ALREADY IN NEED OF IT'S THIRD TRANSMISSION. I HAVE RESEARCHED COMPLAINTS ON THIS VEHICLE AND TRANSMISSION FAILURE SEEMS TO BE COMMON IN THESE TYPE OF CARS. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO KEEP ALLOWING THESE CARS TO OPERATE WITH THE CURRENT FAULTY TRANSMISSIONS ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THEY START TO STALL WITH NO WARNING. I HAD AN EXTREMELY CLOSE CALL AND WOULD HATE FOR ANYONE TO STALL OUT WITHOUT NOTICE GOING FULL SPEED ON A HIGHWAY. MY CAR STALLED MANY TIMES BEFORE ANY LIGHT CAME ON, AND DEALERS AREN'T EVEN WILLING TO REPLACE A TRANSMISSION WITH SUCH LIGHT. PLEASE I URGE YOU TO REVIEW THIS PROBLEM AND FIND A SOLUTION. THIS PROBLEM FIRST SURFACED IN THE FALL OF 2016 AND THE PROBLEM CONTINUES. I RARELY DRIVE THIS CAR DUE TO THIS.I HAVE RESEARCHED OPTIONS AND FEEL THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY.
JEEP HAS FAILED TO FIX THE ISSUE WITH RECALL NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 16V-668 MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBER: S61 RECALL DATE: OCTOBER 1, 2016 I DRIVE MY CHILDREN IN THIS CAR, I WOULD LIKE TO THINK WE ARE PROTECTED BY THE SEAT BELTS AND AIR BAGS.
IVE BEEN WAITING AN UNREASONABLE LENGTH OF TIME (8.5 MONTHS) FOR JEEP TO MAKE A OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROL MODULE FOR MY CAR. I'M TRYING TO USE MY CAR FOR EMPLOYMENT (UBER, LFYT, DELIVERY DRIVING) BUT UNABLE TO BECAUSE I KEEP FAILING AN INSPECTION BECAUSE THERE IS A SENSOR LIGHT THAT SHOWS UP ON MY DASH BOARD. I CAN'T WAIT TILL AUGUST, I WOULD LIKE TO RETURN MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A FUNCTIONING CAR PLEASE. I HAVE BILLS AND CAN'T AFFORD TO WAIT ANY LONGER.
I WAS INFORMED ABOUT THE LATEST RECALL FOR THE ORC (16V-668) LAST OCTOBER AND IT IS ALMOST THE END OF JUNE WITH NO WORD ON WHEN TO EXPECT REPLACEMENT PARTS. THE NOTICE MENTIONED PARTS MAY BE AVAILABLE STARTING IN JUNE 2017. I FEEL THAT THIS SHORTING CONDITION THAT MAY CAUSE MY AIRBAGS TO NOT DEPLOY IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN AND A REMEDY SHOULD HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE BY NOW. IN THE MEANTIME, I'M DRIVING AROUND IN THIS VEHICLE AND RISKING MY LIFE DOING SO. THIS MATTER IS NOT BEING REMEDIED IN A TIMELY MANNER. I AM VERY UPSET WITH FCA ON HOW THIS IS BEING HANDLED.

THE SUNROOF LEAKS INTO THE HEADLINER WHILE PARKED OR IN MOTION, THE WATER EVENTUALLY FINDS ITS WAY INTO THE FRONT DOME LIGHT WHICH THEN PRECEDES TO LEAK ALL OVER THE RADIO AND CLIMATE CONTROL KNOBS. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES TO MY VEHICLE AND SEEMS TO BE A NATION WIDE PROBLEM WITH PATRIOTS IN MOST MODEL YEARS. THE MOST RECENT EPISODE RUINED MY RADIO AND I'M AFRAID TO INSTALL ANOTHER BECAUSE THIS WILL EVENTUALLY HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN.
THIS COMPLAINT IS ABOUT THE SAFETY RECALL BEING IDENTIFIED, BUT NO PARTS EVER AVAILABLE. RECALL DATE WAS SEPTEMBER 13, 2016, AND WE ARE ABOUT TO ENTER AUGUST 2017.
MANUFACTURER RECALL NUMBERS 61 NHTSA RECALL NUMBER 16V-668 RECALL STATUS RECALL INCOMPLETE. I HAVE BEEN AWARE OF THIS RECALL FOR OVER 12 MONTHS WITH NO AVAILABILITY FOR RESOLUTION. MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP STATED THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY REPLACEMENT PARTS IN SPITE OF THE EXTENDED DURATION OF TIME THAT HAS PAST. PLEASE NOTE THIS SAFETY COMPLAINT IS BEING MADE DUE TO THE ONGOING AND UNREASONABLE TIME FRAME I AM EXPERIENCING. I DON'T FEEL SAFE TO HAVE MY WIFE IN THE CAR DUE TO THIS RECALL. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR APPROXIMATELY AN HOUR, GOING FROM 65-75 MPH, AND OCCASIONALLY USING THE CRUISE CONTROL, THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEAT LIGHT TURNED ON. I SLOWED TO ABOUT 60 MPH AND EXITED AT THE NEXT OFF RAMP, WHICH WAS SLIGHTLY UPHILL. WHILE IN MOTION, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. I USED THE REMAINING MOMENTUM TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. I READ THE MANUAL, WHICH STATES TO LET THE TRANSMISSION COOL DOWN AND THEN CONTINUE DRIVING. I DID AS IT SAID AND CONTINUED TO MY DESTINATION WITHOUT THE WARNING LIGHT RETURNING, BUT THE CAR FELT SLUGGISH AND THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WAS SHIFTING ROUGHLY. I WAS NOT TOWING OR CARRYING ANYTHING IN THE CAR. THE CAR HAS ABOUT 58,000 MILES, IS SERVICED REGULARLY, AND HAS NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS BEFORE THIS.
GAS TANK ROLL OVER VALVE: THERE SEEMS TO BE A DEFECTIVE COMPONENT AT THE TOP OF THE GAS TANK WHICH IS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL AT LEAST ONCE AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AS IT AFFECTS A LOT OF VEHICLES BASED ON MY SEARCHES.
SEATBELT LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON
CLOCK SPRING IS BAD. SAME MODEL THAT'S UNDER RECALL ON THE WRANGLER. FIRST PROBLEM NOTICED WAS WHEN USING TURN SIGNAL, RADIO DISPLAY WOULD DIM. SECOND PROBLEM WAS THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. AIR BAG LIGHT SOMETIMES GOES OFF WHILE TURNING STEERING WHEEL.
WE HAVE 2 VEHICLES UNDER RECALL S61/NHTSA 16V-668 DATED 10/01/16 AND STILL NO REMEDY. THIS RECALL PUTS OUR LIVES IN JEEP'S HANDS EVERY TIME WE DRIVE OUR CARS. THE OTHER PATRIOT UNDER THIS RECALL WAS HIT BY A DEER WHILE DRIVING AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. LUCKILY, THAT TIME WE WERE NOT INJURED, BUT WHAT ABOUT NEXT TIME?
STILL NO REMEDY FOR THIS RECALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OUR OTHER CAR IS ON THE SAME RECALL!!!!!!!!!! WE HIT A DEER & THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO MAKE A LOUD WHIRRING SOUND. SUDDENLY THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEAT LIGHT TURNED ON AND I LOST POWER. FIRST DROPPING FROM 75 TO 40 MILES PER HOUR AND ULTIMATELY TO 0 MILES PER HOUR. THIS LEFT ME IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE FOR 30-40 MINUTES WHILE I WAITED FOR THE CVT TO COOL DOWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED 2 ADDITIONAL TIMES. EACH TIME THE DEALERSHIP HAS PULLED FLUID AND STATED THAT THEY COULD FIND NO PROBLEM. THE WARRANTY IS ABOUT TO EXPIRE, AND IT APPEARS AFTER RESEARCHING ONLINE, THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CVT ON BOTH THE PATRIOT AND COMPASS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN LOOSENED AND AFFECTED HOW THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,786.
2010 JEEP WITH 65,000 MILES HAS "TICKING" NOISE COMING FROM DIFFERENTIAL. DEALER STATES THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAS TO BE REPLACED. ALTHOUGH IT IS BELOW THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY, IT IS JUST OVER THE 5 YEAR LIMIT AND IS NO LONGER COVERED BY THE WARRANTY. WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY, THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND SIMPLY CHANGED THE FLUID AND FILTER. NOW I HAVE TO PAY!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A RECURRING FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,012.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT WAS INJURED BUT NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS REQUIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
THE TIPM ON MY 2010 JEEP PATRIOT (26,515 MILES) WAS DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY RESULTING IN VARIOUS PROBLEMS WITH MY JEEP, INCLUDING THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE AND LIGHT POPPING ON, VEHICLE OVER HEATING AND AIR CONDITIONER NOT WORKING PROPERLY. VARIOUS MECHANICS SUGGESTED I ADDRESS THE PROBLEM WITH JEEP/CHRYSLER DIRECTLY AS THE TIPM BECOMING FAULTY ON A VEHICLE IS ALMOST UNHEARD OF. THIS FUSE BOX CONTROLS ALMOST EVERYTHING ON THE CAR. AFTER GOOGLING THE ISSUE TO GAIN MORE KNOWLEDGE, I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING TIPM ISSUES AND CHRYSLER; INCLUDING A CURRENT LAWSUIT AGAINST CHRYSLER ADDRESSING THE ISSUE. WHEN I BROUGHT THE PROBLEM TO MY JEEP DEALERSHIP, I WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT HELP ME AS THE CAR WAS PURCHASED PRE-OWNED WITH NO EXTENDED WARRANTY. I REACHED OUT TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD VIA EMAIL "TIPMS DO GO OUT ON VEHICLES AND IT WOULD ONLY BE COVERED UNDER 3 YEARS/36,000 MILES ON WARRANTY. I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO ASSIST YOU AT THIS TIME." SO, WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE? MY VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE FIXED AND I'M STUCK WITH A $1200 ESTIMATE (TIPM PART $800 PLUS LABOR). MY MECHANIC ORDERED THE PART AND CALLED ME TODAY TO SAY "IT IS ON BACK ORDER AS THIS PART IS IN HIGH DEMAND" I CANNOT BELIEVE JEEP CHRYSLER IS FAILING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AMONG ITS FLEET OF CARS. CLEARLY THIS PROBLEM IS NOT A CHEROKEE OR DURANGO PROBLEM, IT IS A CHRYSLER PROBLEM. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND ISSUE A RECALL!
BALL JOINTS FAIL PREMATURELY ONLY 34000 MILES ON VEHICLE
ABS SENSOR , ELECTRICAL STABILITY CONTROL AND 4X4 WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN. WE SLOWED DOWN AND PULLED OVER. WE RESTARTED THE CAR AND DROVE FOR A COUPLE OF MILES WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. IT HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE; THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS BECAUSE OF THE WAY TO CAR SLOWS DOWN UNWARRANTED. THE ABS LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED, MEANING THE ABS MAY NOT WORK IN AN EMERGENCY. I HAVE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON CAR FORUMS. WE HAD A MECHANIC WORK ON OURS AND THEY REPLACED THE WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AND THE WHEEL BEARINGS; THIS FIXED THIS ISSUE FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS BUT IT HAS BEGUN AGAIN. ITS POSSIBLE THIS MAY BE AN ISSUE FOR ALL THE WHEELS???
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND AUTO SUDDENLY LOST POWER ALTHOUGH ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING IT WOULD JUST IDLE, EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, TURNED AUTO OFF AND LET IT SET FOR A FEW MINUTES AND WHEN IT RESTARTED IT APPEARED TO BE OK, WOULD TAKE GAS, THEN ON 3-19-2015 THIS HAPPENED 3 DIFFERENT TIMES WITHIN A 150 MILES ON THE INTERSTATE,WOULD HAVE TO UNHOOK THE BATTERY AND RECONNECT IT BEFORE THE PROBLEM WOULD CLEAR UP, THEN DRIVE IT JUST A BIT MORE AND IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN. *TR
MY 2010 PATRIOT LIMITED STALLS ALL THE TIME. IT GETS WORSE WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. I HAVE TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL, REV UP THE ENGINE SO IT DOES NOT GO DEAD. IT SEEMS TO GET WORSE IF THE GAS TANK IS BELOW 1/2 TANK. ALSO I REALLY THOUGHT SOMEONE WAS STEALING MY GAS BECAUSE THE GAUGE GOES UP AND DOWN. THE ALLOY METAL JUST EVAPORATES OVER TIME AND SNAPS OFF WHEN ADDING AIR OR WASHING THE RIMS BUT HAVE HEARD OF THEM COMING APART DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. SEEMS TO OCCUR JUST BELOW THE VALVE CAP EDGE. SWITCHED TO RUBBER VALVE STEMS BUT LOST AUTO TIRE AIR PRESSURE MONITOR.
WHEN BRAKING, THE JEEP SEEMS TO LOOSE REAR CONTROL FEATURES. THE SAME OFTEN OCCURS WHEN SLOWLY ACCELERATING. IT HAS "SHIFTED" FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER AT TIMES WHEN GENERAL STRAIGHT ROAD DRIVING OCCURS. SPEEDS HAVE NEVER EXCEEDED 30 MPH. BRAKING LOSS OF REAR CONTROL OCCURS AT SPEEDS NEVER EXCEEDING 5 MILES AN HOUR

ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL RANDOMLY COMES ON AND THE CAR WONT GO, I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND RESTART (INTERMITTENT PROBLEM OVER SEVERAL MONTHS) NOW THE THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON AND WONT GO OVER 20MPH. ABS SENSOR , ELECTRICAL STABILITY CONTROL AND 4X4 WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND VEHICLE SLOWED DOWN. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED IGNITION OFF , RESTARTED IT ...WARNING LIGHTS CAME BACK ON AND THIS CONTINUED, VEHICLE WAS DRIVABLE. NOW CAR IS IN THE SHOP BUT MECHANIC IS UNABLE TO FIND ANY ISSUES. HE HAS CHECKED BRAKES, STRUTS , SENSORS SO FAR NOTHING IS PROBLEMATIC. I CALLED JEEP FOR HELP WITH ISSUE BUT REPRESENTATIVE ACTED AS IF HE HAS NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING. *TR
THE VEHICLE IS A 2010 JEEP PATRIOT LATITUDE, TRAIL RATED MODEL. APPARENTLY STRUCK A ROCK WITH THE TAILPIPE WHICH CAUSED THE MUFFLER TO MOVE UPWARD, RESULTING IN THE MUFFLER GETTING CAUGHT ON THE MUFFLER HANGER MOUNTS. THIS ALLOWED THE TAILPIPE OUTLET TO REST ABOVE AND ON THE INSIDE OF THE BUMPER COVER FASCIA. DAMAGE TO MUFFLER AND TAILPIPE WAS COSMETIC, BUT HEAT FROM THE EXHAUST CAUSED THE BUMPER TO MELT AND CHAR. CANNOT BE CERTAIN IF THERE WAS ANY FLAME OR FIRE AS OTHERS HAVE REPORTED. WE ATTEMPTED TO DISLODGE THE MUFFLER BY HAND, BUT IT IS TOO TIGHTLY WEDGED IN. ROAD HAZARDS ARE A FACT OF DRIVING, AND DRIVERS SHOULD DO THEIR BEST TO AVOID THEM. HOWEVER, LIGHT TO MODERATE IMPACT TO A MUFFLER SHOULD NOT CAUSE A SITUATION WHERE A HOT TAILPIPE CAN COME IN CONTACT OR CLOSE PROXIMITY WITH ANY PLASTIC PARTS (SUCH AS THE BUMPER COVER) THAT COULD MELT, CHAR OR POSSIBLY IGNITE. THE PROBLEM WITH BOTH THE PATRIOT AND COMPASS HAVE BEEN NOTED IN ELSEWHERE ON THE INTERNET AND IT IS FOR CERTAIN THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. AT THIS TIME, I WOULD RESPECTFULLY ASK THAT JEEP - CHRYSLER PROVIDE A FIX FOR THIS DESIGN PROBLEM FOR ANY POTENTIALLY AFFECTED VEHICLES, AND IN ADDITION, WORK WITH THOSE OWNERS WHOSE BUMPERS HAVE BEEN DAMAGED. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ON I-75 IN JUNE 2014 THE JEEPS TEMP. LIGHT WENT ON REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION WAS OVERHEATING AND STARTED TO SLOW DOWN. I PULLED OFF THE AND WAS LUCKY TO FIND A JEEP DEALER. I EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED,AND THE DEALER CHECKED THE TRANS FLUID AND SAID IT WAS FINE HE ALSO SAID IT WAS THE HEAT FROM THE HIGHWAY AND THE OUTSIDE TEMP WAS 90 DEGREES. WE CONTINUED AND THE CAR RAN FINE AFTER THAT. THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON SUNDAY SEPT 21 2014 DRIVING THROUGH PA. ON I-80 THE LIGHT WENT ON AND SLOWED DOWN THE OUTSIDE TEMP. WAS ABOUT 72 DEGREES AND I WAS GOING ABOUT 70 MPH. , I HAD TO GO ON THE SOFT SHOULDER AND WAIT. I SHUT THE ENGINE OF A WAITED ABOUT 15 MIN. I STARTED THE CAR THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND WE DROVE TO CLARION PA. TO A MOTEL. NEXT DAY WE LEFT THE MOTEL AND DROVE TO IL. THE LIGHT NEVER WENT ON AGAIN. I BELIEVE THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE JEEP AUTOMATICALLY SLOWED DOWN IN HEAVY HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC. IT PUT ME IN A DANGEROUS POSITION. THE FAN ON THE HEATER QUIT WORKING AND SMOKE CAME FR POO M AROUND THE THREE KNOBS FOR THE HEATER AND AIR CONDITIONER. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. I JUST REPLACED IT AGAIN LAST WEEK.

I STOPPED AT A CONVENIENT STORE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK PRIOR TO THIS MY RADIO CONTINUE TO TURN OFF AND ON. WHEN I WENT TO START MY JEEP BACK UP IT WOULD NOT START AND WAS SMOKING. I HAD IT PULLED TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE STARTER WIRE HAD CAUGHT AFIRE AND FRIED THE STARTER AND POSSIBLE THE FUSE BOX. HAD I NOT STOPPED AND CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE OTHER 15 MILES HOME I WOULD PROBABLY BE DEAD. THE CAR WOULD HAVE STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE WHERE THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO PLACE FOR ME TO PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY AND WITH NO LIGHT ANY OTHER CAR TRAVELING THE HIGHWAY COULD HAVE HIT ME AND WITH ME AT A STANDSTILL AND THE SPEED LIMIT 50 IN THE CONSTRUCTION AREA I WOULD POSSIBLY BEEN KILLED OR HURT SEVERELY. AS I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK IN A THUNDERSTORM AT 2AM ON THE HIGHWAY AT 65 MILES PER HOUR, THE DOME LIGHT BEGAN POURING WATER LIKE A WATERFALL ALL OVER ME, THE RADIO, THE SHIFTER, AND MY IPHONE WHICH WAS IN THE CUP HOLDER. THE NEXT DAY I CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER TO ENACT MY 5 YEAR 50,000 MILE WARRANTY AND SCHEDULE SERVICE. I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE ANYONE AVAILABLE TO WORK ON MY LEAK UNTIL 3 WEEKS FROM NOW. ADDITIONALLY THE SERVICE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AS WINDOW SEALS ARE ONLY COVERED FOR 3 YEARS 35,000 MILES. MY CONCERN IS NOT ONLY ONE OF BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM JEEP'S POINT OF VIEW, BUT ALSO SAFETY AS IT IS VERY DISTRACTING TO DRIVE WHILE BEING SOAKED WITH WATER. THE WATER COULD ALSO CAUSE OTHER DAMAGES TO THE VEHICLE WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH OR FIRE. *JS

WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL INCIDENTS WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE A ROUTINE SERVICE AND UNKNOWN RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN AUGUST OF 2013. USING ONLY AUTHORIZED JEEP DEALERS TO EVALUATE THERE SEEMED TO BE NO PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE. MY DAUGHTER WAS ROUTINELY DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AND IT BURST INTO FLAMES AND WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF 3 FIRE TRUCKS AND 3 SHERIFF CARS THE FLAMES WERE EXTINGUISHED. FORTUNATELY SHE IS NOT INJURED BUT THE CAR IS TOTALED. IN MY OPINION, THIS IS A HIGHLY UNUSUAL SITUATION AND MY SUSPICIONS IS THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC HE CONFIRMED THE CAR NEEDED THE THROTTLE BODY. THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER DUE TO A REDESIGN (RED FLAG THERE). IT TOOK THREE WEEKS FOR THE PART TO COME IN. MY MECHANIC REPLACED THE PART AND MY PATRIOT IS STILL GOING INTO LIMP MODE. THE COMPUTER THREW OUT MANY CODES. MY MECHANIC AFTER WORKING ON THE CODES FOR TWO WEEKS SAID THAT HE COULD NOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM AND SUGGESTED I HAVE MY PATRIOT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. I GET A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP THAT MY PATRIOT IS THROWING 3 PAGES OF CODES. I LEARNED MY PATRIOT IS NOT THE ONLY JEEP/CHRYSLER VEHICLE HAVING THESE ISSUES. I THINK THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE, TO HAVE A CAR GO INTO LIMP MODE WHILE DRIVING 60MPH CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS! *TR

I BACKED OUT THE CAR AND IT WAS SHAKING AND LOUD. I DECIDED TO DRIVE ANOTHER VEHICLE A FEW DAYS LATER I DROVE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TAKING THE BACKROADS AND IT WOULD NOT GO OVER 20 MPH AND SHOOK FREQUENTLY. I WAS CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. I HAVE A LIFETIME POWERTRAIN ENGINE WARRANTY AND THOMAS DODGE DEALERSHIP IN HIGHLAND, IN IS NOT COVERING UNDER WARRANTY. THEY STATE THE THROTTLE IS NOT A COMPONENT OF THE ENGINE OR POWER TRAIN. THE COST OF REPAIR IS $690. I WAS WONDERING IF ANY RECALLS EXIST ON THE CHRYSLER, DODGE AND JEEPS IN REGARDS TO THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY AND TO CONSIDER MY MODEL, MAKE AND YEAR. *TR
