2014 JEEP PATRIOT, WAS DRIVING STREETS GOING 45 MPH NO ISSUES AS SOON AS I GO ONTO HIGHWAY AND BEGAN ACCELERATING THE CAR JUST LOST ALL POWER AND I WAS ABLE TO CRUISE IT ONTO SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. TURNED CAR OFF RESTATED AND TRIED AGAIN TO SEE IF IT WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND AS SOON AS I BEGAN ACCELERATING IT STALLED OUT. I HAD SOME JERKING WHEN GOING UPHILL IN MARCH TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DETERMINED SPARK PLUGS WERE THE ISSUE, THEY WERE REPLACED AND NO ISSUES UNTIL NOW. WILL BE DROPPING OFF CAR TO MECHANIC TO SEE WHAT THE CAUSE OF IT STALLING OUT MAY BE. *TR
I LEFT CAR IN GARAGE- FINE. I GO BACK LATER TO GET IN PATRIOT, I FIND THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADREST DEPLOYED/POPPED OPEN. THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING THERE. I HADN'T EVEN TURNED IT ON WHEN I NOTICED IT. I HAVE BEEN IN NO ACCIDENT (AT LEAST WITHIN THE LAST YEAR). IT NOW DECIDES TO DEPLOY ON ITS OWN. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 20 MPH, WITH THE CHECK ENGINE AND THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE VIBRATED ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DAN CUMMINS CHEVROLET BUICK OF GEORGETOWN LOCATED AT (1470 CHERRY BLOSSOM WAY, GEORGETOWN, KY 40324) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DRIVER ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V552000 (ENGINE). THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
I HAD ALL THE ISSUES THAT WAS STATED IN THE RECALLS BUT MY VIN NUMBER WASNT PART OF RECALL I AM ON MY THRID MOTOR REPLACED AND ELECTRICAL STILL ISNT WORKING PROPERLY I PURCHASED BRAND NEW 2014 AND WITHIN FIRST YEAR NEEDED NEW ENGINE WHEN IFILED COMPLAINT NOTHING WAS DONE BY JEEP OR DEALER,JUST REPLACED THE ENGIN LAST MONTH NOW THE ALTERNATOR NEEDS REPLACING AND TRANSMISSION BLEW YESTERDAY ALL OF THESE ISSUES HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING
STARTED OFF BY ACTING AS THOUGH IT WASNT GETTING GAS, (PUTTERING , ETC.) HAD BATTERY CHECKED. NOW SOUNDS AS THOUGH IT IS STUCK IN GEAR. SEVERAL MECHANICS HAVE VERIFIED PREVIOUS RECALLS ON THIS JEEP DUE TO THE PULLEY ON ALTERNATOR. UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND SUGGESTED NO TOO.IM A SINGLE MOM WITH 4 BOYS AND NEED TO BE AT WORK BUT HAVE TO BE AT WORK. WOULD NEED HELP PLEASE!

THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO EXCEED 20 MPH WHILE DRIVING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (O'REILLY CHEVROLET 6160 E BROADWAY BLVD, TUCSON, AZ 85711 (520) 829-3876) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO (LARRY H. MILLER DODGE RAM TUCSON 4220 E 22ND ST, TUCSON, AZ 85711 (520) 395-9311) TO BE DIAGNOSED. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ELECTRIC THROTTLE BODY CONTROL FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATE 80,100. *DT*JB
I WAS DRIVING APPROX 45 MPH WHEN I HEARD A POPPING NOISE FOLLOWED BY GRINDING NOISE WHILE IN 5TH GEAR. TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT LOOKED LIKE THE TRANSMISSION. I THEN TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION SHOP WHO VERIFIED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS SHOT. IT WAS CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES. I HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED WITH A NEW ONE. WHEN I WENT TO PICK UP MY CAR, I ASKED TO TAKE PICTURES SO THAT I COULD TALK TO JEEP ABOUT HAVING A TRANSMISSION FAIL AT 103K MILES. WHILE TAKING PICTURES AND LOOKING AT THE DAMAGED TRANSMISSION, THE MECHANIC SAID " WAIT A MINUTE. WHAT YEAR IS YOUR JEEP?" I TOLD HIM IT WAS A 2014. HE SAID, "LOOK AT THIS STICKER. IT MEANS THAT THIS TRANSMISSION WAS MANUFACTURED IN 2016. SO, YOU ARE ACTUALLY ON YOUR 3RD TRANSMISSION." I WAS ABLE TO TRACK THE TRANSMISSION BY THE PART NUMBER AND FOUND OUT THAT IT WAS INSTALLED IN JULY 2016. THE ORIGINAL TRANSMISSION FAILED AT 51,477 MILES. THE ONE THAT JUST CAME OUT FAILED AT 52, 075 MILES.
WHEN I AM DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY OR STREET THE CAR SEEMS THAT WANTS TO STOP AND FEEL THAT IS LOOSING POWER; THAN IT DOES LIKE A JUMPER AND KEEP GOING AND IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES. THE DEALER SEEMS THAT DO NOT FIND ANYTHING. ALSO THE BACK DOOR OF THE CAR KEEP GETTING LOCK AND NOT ABLE TO OPEN

DRIVING AT APPROX. 40 MPH, DASH LIGHTS CAME ON PWOER TRAIN SKID WARNING, 4WD, LIGHTNING ICON POWER DROPPED UNABLE TO GO MORE THAN 20 MPH EXTREMELY UNSAFE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND LOSS MOTIVE POWER. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VICTORVILLE MOTORS (14617 CIVIC DR, VICTORVILLE, CA 92394, (760) 843-8317) HOWEVER, WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
THE PARTRIOT RANDOMLY STALLS WHILE TRAVELLING AT ANY SPEED. THE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND CAR HAS TO COAST TO A STOP. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. MULTIPLE MECHANICS AND THE JEEP DEALERSHIP HAVE NO CLUE AS TO HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM. ONLINE RESEARCH SHOWS THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE FOR MANY JEEP OWNERS, NOT JUST PATRIOTS. JEEP / CHRYSLER HAS A MAJOR ISSUE AND WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE OR ADDRESS IT. IF THEY REFUSE TO DO ANYTHING, THEY SHOULD BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR THEIR LACK OF ADDRESSING THIS CRITICAL ISSUE. IT TAKES LESS THAN A MINUTE TO SEARCH AND SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE AFFECTED WITH ENGINE STALLING ISSUES WITH JEEP AUTOMOBILES. I HOPE THE NHTSA WILL CONDUCT A THOROUGH REVIEW OF THESE ISSUES AND FORCE MORE ATTENTION TO BE GIVEN TO THE SERIOUS ISSUE. I BOUGHT THIS CAR FOR MY DAUGHTER AND NOW WE CAN'T LET HER DRIVE IT BECAUSE IT IS TOO DANGEROUS. WE HAVE SPENT OVER $2K TRYING TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE NO RECALLS OR OTHER ASSISTANCE THAT JEEP CAN OR WILL OFFER.
DAUGHTER CALLED IN PANIC, JEEP WAS UNABLE TO ACCEPT FUEL WHILE PUMPING. I ADVISED HER TO TRY ANOTHER PUMP, STILL SAME PROBLEM. TOOK ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO GET 5 GALLONS OF FUEL IN JEEP FOR HER TO MAKE IT HOME. TOOK JEEP TO DEALERSHIP AND STATED THAT A SHUT OFF VALVE IN TANK HAD MALFUNCTIONED AND GAS TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ($1500 PARTS AND LABOR) AND DEALERSHIP SAID THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM...WAIT WHAT, A COMMON PROBLEM, WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON SOMETHING LIKE THIS? LESS THAN 50K MILES AND NEEDS A NEW TANK... DEALERSHIP SAID NOT A SAFETY ISSUE??? BEING STUCK ON I95 AT NIGHT NOT BEING ABLE TO GET GAS IS A BIG SAFETY ISSUE.
I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 2 SMALL CHILDREN HOME WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, MY "LIGHTNING BOLT LIGHT" CAME ON AND MY "FISH TAIL" LIGHT CAME ON THEN MY ENGINE STALLED IN MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THANKFULLY WE WERE NOT ON A BUSY ROAD. BUT I NORMALLY AM DRIVING THE INTERSTATE FOR WORK. (I WORK WITH PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES, INCLUDING HAVING THEM IN MY VEHICLE.) THE CODE IS LETTING ME KNOW THE THROTTLE BODY CONTROL IS BAD. I LOOKED UP RECALLS AND 2014 JEEP PATRIOTS HAVE THIS RECALL. BUT MY VIN SPECIFICALLY DOES NOT. THEREFORE I'M NOT SURE IF A DEALERSHIP WILL COVER IT. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A DEVASTATING ACCIDENT IF WE HAD BEEN ON A BUSY ROAD.
DURING A ROAD TRIP, I WENT TO GAS UP MY JEEP AND THE PUMP WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO PUT GAS IN THE CAR. I WAS 5 MONTHS PREGNANT STRANDED WITH NO GAS. I LATER WHEN TO SEVERAL OTHER GAS STATIONS SAME ISSUE. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE CURLER NECK WHICH WAS $180, WHEN THEY INSTALLED IT, THE ISSUE WAS NOT RESOLVED. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER SHOP AND THEY COULD NOT FIX THE ISSUE AS WELL. I FINALLY TOOK IT TO A DEALERSHIP AND THEY MENTIONED IT COULD BE THE FUEL TANK WHICH WAS $1200 OR THE EVAP SYSTEM WHICH IS $900 BUT THEY WEREN'T ENTIRELY SURE WHAT THE ISSUE WAS EITHER. I AM CURRENTLY USING A GAS CAN BUT THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE BECAUSE NOW IT WILL ONLY ALLOW ME TO PUT SMALL AMOUNT OF GAS EVEN WHEN THE TANK IS EMPTY.
ANYTIME I ACCELERATE FROM A STOP MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT JERKS AND SHUDDERS. SO I'LL BE IN TRAFFIC ON THE FREEWAY OR AT A LIGHT AND ONCE I START GOING THE JEEP WILL BE JUMPY AND NOT ACCELERATE. IT'S GETTING TO THE POINT WHERE IT'S ALMOST EVERY STOP AND I FEEL LIKE EVENTUALLY THE ENGINE WILL JUST STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF A LIGHT. WHICH IS DEFINITELY IS A CONCERN BECAUSE I DRIVE WITH A 4 YEAR OLD MOST OF THE TIME. NO ENGINE LIGHT HAS CAME ON SO THAT'S ALSO A CONCERN WHEN TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. IT'S NOT OKAY.
MY 2014 JEEP PATRIOT VEHICLE STARTED TO LOOSE ENGINE POWER REALLY FAST AND STARTED TO JERK AND SLOW DOWN ON IT'S OWN BARELY ANY POWER. TWO DASH TROUBLE LIGHTS CAME ON. A ENGINE TROUBLE LIGHT AND A LIGHTING BOLT TROUBLE LIGHT BOTH CAME ON. I IMMEDIATELY BARELY PULLED THE CAR INTO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT CLOSE BY. HAD I BEEN ON A HIGHWAY TRAVELING A HIGHER SPEED AREA THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS ! I WAS ABLE TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTART THE CAR AFTER WAITING AND LUCKILY THERE WAS AN AUTO PARTS STORE NEARBY. UPON CHECKING THE DASH LIGHTS WITH THEIR COMPUTER UNIT IT WAS DETERMINED IT WAS A FAILED THROTTLE CONTROL UNIT . AFTER IT WAS CHECKED A DAY LATER AT THE LOCAL JEEP DEALER IT WAS DETERMINED THE THROTTLE UNIT DID FAIL. SINCE I ONLY HAD 20K MILES BUT BEYOND THE 3 YEAR LIMIT WARRANTY THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE EXPENSIVE REPAIR. I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE A JEEP SAFETY RECALL ON THIS PART BECAUSE THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN MODIFIED FROM THE ORIGINAL. DUE TO THE MODIFICATION I HAD TO ALSO PURCHASE A NEW WIRE HARNESS EVEN THOUGH THE OLDER ONE WAS PROBABLY FINE BUT WOULDN'T FIT THE NEWER MODIFIED REPLACEMENT THROTTLE UNIT. WHEN THIS THROTTLE UNIT FAILS YOUR VEHICLE GETS NO GAS SO IT ALMOST SHUTS DOWN IMMEDIATELY ! IN CONFIDENCE I WAS TOLD BY SEVERAL DEALER MAINTENANCE PEOPLE THIS ISN'T A RARE PROBLEM, BUT THE CHRYSLERS JEEP CO. REFUSED TO ABSORB ANY LIABILITY OR PAYMENT TOWARD THIS REPLACEMENT REPAIR AFTER I CONTACTED THEM . THIS IS STRANGE THAT THE REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN MODIFIED OR UPDATED .....WHY ? THE ORIGINAL UNIT IS DEFECTIVE IS MY GUESS AND SHOULD BE RECALLED ON ALL JEEP PRODUCTS BEFORE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT HAPPENS !

THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE TO 20 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO ACTIVE RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO CALL NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,550.
VOLTAGE LIGHT COMES ON AND JEEP GOES INTO "LIMP MODE", BASICALLY LOSES ALL POWER. COSTING $1000.00 PLUS 2 TOWING FEES TO GET FIXED. ONLY 85,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. AFTER A LITTLE RESEARCH, I'VE FOUND THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME.

NO RECALL FOR THIS AS OTHERS HAVE HAD SAME ISSUE IN THEIR JEEP PATRIOTS...I HAD A BABY IN JEEP TOO...I MIGHT AS WELL LET BANK TAKE IT BACK AS I DON'T HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY OR MONEY FOR REPAIRS...
NEXEN N5000 2115/65/R17 TIRE TREAD SEEMS TO MELT AWAY OR PEEL UP AND CAUSES EXCESSIVE USE OF THE BRAKES. THEY WERE ADDED AT 36043 MILES AND AT 59644 I WAS TOLD TO REPLACE THE TIMES AND THE BRAKES. THE STATED MILEAGE IS 65000. 1 TIRE HAS A CHUNK OF TORN TREAD THAT IS GONE. THE OTHER TIRES SEEM TO BE PEELING OR MELTING AWAY. VEHICLE IS A JEEP PATRIOT. WHEN FIRST PURCHASED THE TIRES MADE THE BREAKING FASTER AND SLIDING WAS REMOVED IN RAIN, SLEET OR MOUNTAIN SNOW. NOW THAT IS ALL REDUCED.
TAKATA RECALL: AS YOU DRIVE THIS VEHICLE THE ENGINE WILL SLIGHTLY STALL OUT AND HICCUP. ALSO CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION TO JITTER SLIGHTLY BUT NOTICEABLY SO. IT DOES IT WHETHER ITS HOT, COLD REGARDLESS. I FEEL AS IF THIS VEHICLE IS AFFECTED BY THE ENGINE RECALL BECAUSE IT DOES STALL AND STUTTER WHILE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING AROUND PARKING LOT VEHICLE STARTED TO RUN EXTREMELY ROUGH ALMOST TO THE POINT OF STALLING. BECAME VERY HARD TO DRIVE INCLUDING LOOSING STEARING AND BRAKE FUNCTION CAUSING VEHICLE TO LOOSE CONTROL AND COMING TO A STOP INTO A BUSH. WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON ON THE DASH AT THE TIME, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ELECTRIC SYMBOL. DEALER STATED THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THAT IT WAS A COMMON REPAIR THEY HAD SEEN MANY TIMES. WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY WHICH LEFT ME WITH A $1000 REPAIR BILL. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. CALLED UP JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY WERE COMPLETELY UNWILLING TO COVER ANY COSTS OF THE REPAIR OR ADMIT THERE WAS ANY ISSUE. THANKFULLY THIS ISSUE DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY OR I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT.
WIFE AND DAUGHTER WAS IN A 8CAR ACCIDENT AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF HIT FROM THE BACK AND PUSHED INTO OTHER CARS AND NONE OF AIRBAGS WENT OFF .BOTH OF THEM WENT TO THE HOSPITAL AND WE SPENT ALL DAY IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM.

I HAVE A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT SPORT 2.0L 4CYL WUTH A CVT TRANSMISSION. I BOUGHT IT USED CERTIFIED IN FEB 2018. ABOUT A MONTH INTO OWNING THE VEHICLE IT STARTED TO BUCK AND JERK. THE CAR SHAKES WHILE ON IDLE AND THERE IS A LOUD HELICOPTER SOUND COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE CAR. I TOOK TO TO 3 DIFFERENT JEEP DEALER AND NOBODY COULD TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. ABOUT 3 MONTHS AFTER THAT THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THIS HAPPENED AS I TURNED ON MY STREET TO GO HOME. I HAD TO WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND IT TURNED IT BACK ON AND DROVE AS IF NOTHING HAPPENED. I TOOK IT TO LOCAL MECHANIC AND HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FIRING ANY CODES NOR WAS THERE ANY WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH. THE LATEST INCIDENT HAPPEND ON AUGUST 18, 2019 DRVING HOME FROM A CAMPING TRIP. I HAD 2 PASSENGERS IN THE CAR WITH ME.THE CAR BUCKS AND JERKS WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR STALLS WHILE IM DRVING THE SPEED LIMIT AT 60 MPH. THANKFULLY I WAS IN THE SLOW LANE AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE RIGHT. AFTER BEING ALL SHAKEN UP, AGAIN I HAD WAITIED A FEW MINUTES AND CAR STARTED AND DROVE AS IF NOTING HAPPEND. IT WAS ONE OF THE SCARIEST THINGS I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO LOCAL MECHANICS AND THEY DINT KNOW WHATS WRONG WITH IT. SO I AM CURRENTLY DRVING MY CAR AND WONDERING WHEN THE CAR WILL STALL AGAIN. IT STILL BUCKS AND JERKS, FEELS LIKE IT WILL STALL SO I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDDLE AND THAT SEEMS TO HELP. I NO LONGER DRIVE THIS CAR ON THE HIGHWAY AS I AM SCARED TO DEATH OF GETTING INTO A CAR ACCIDENT. I STRICTLY USE THIS CAR TO TRAVEL TO AND FROM WORK. I AM TIRED OF SENDING THIS CAR TO THE DEALERSHIPS AND MECHANICS WITH NO RESOLUTIONS. I WANT TO TRADE THIS CAR IN, BUT AM AFRAID FOR THE NEXT PERSON. I THINK THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. THESE CARS SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD PERIOD!!
AFTER BEING PARKED FOR THREE OR FOUR DAYS, I ENTERED THE VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND HEADREST FELT WRONG. WAS NOT DRIVING YET. JUST SITTING IN SEAT. A QUICK INSPECTION SHOWED THAT THE DRIVER'S HEADREST HAD SPONTANEOUSLY ACTIVATED WHILE PARKED, LEAVING IT SPLIT IN TWO PIECES. THE VEHICLE, OF COURSE, IS FIVE YEARS AND ONE MONTH OLD, SO OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS WILL BE AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR OF THIS MANDATORY SAFETY EQUIPMENT THAT IS DEFECTIVE. ALSO DANGEROUS IF IT HAD DEPLOYED WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING IN SEAT. SHOULDN'T THIS BE SUBJECT TO AN INVESTIGATION AND POSSIBLE RECALL?
OUR 2014 JEEP PATRIOT CAME EQUIPPED WITH FIRESTONE AFFINITY TIRES . AT 19K MILES ALL 4 TIRES WOULD NOT PASS PA. INSPECTION AND NEEDED REPLACED. THESE TIRES ARE A SAFETY HAZARD TO ANYONE WITHOUT CONSTANT INSPECTIONS OF TREADS. EVEN FOLLOWING PROPER ROTATIONS AND AIR INFLATION REGULATIONS THEY WERE SHOT ! TOTAL JUNK AND VERY UNSAFE TIRES ESPECIALLY IN NORTHERN WINTERY STATES. I REPLACED WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND OF SAFER TIRES....NEVER AGAIN WILL I TRUST FIRESTONE TIRES!
I NEEDED TO REPLACE MY THROTTLE BODY UNIT ON THIS CAR AT 75,000 MILES. THE CAR IS ONLY 5 YEARS OLD. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS SAME ISSUE. 3 LIGHTS CAME ON: THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, MALFUNCTION INDICATOR (CHECK ENGINE), AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL. MY CAR COULD NOT SURPASS 30 MPH WHICH WAS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY. ADDITIONALLY, THE CAR WAS JERKY AND WOULD JERK FORWARD EVEN WHEN BRAKING. THIS SEEMS TO BE A RECURRING/KNOWN ISSUE. I BELIEVE A RECALL OF THIS SPECIFIC PART IS NEEDED.
ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT BEGAN TO GO OFF. RPMS WERE RUNNING HIGHER THAN NORMAL. AFTER THE SENSOR TRIGGERED TWICE, NO PROBLEMS OTHER THAN RMPS RUNNING HIGH. 5 DAYS AFTER THE INITIAL WARNING LIGHT, UPON STOPPING AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND RESUMING ACCELERATION, CHECK ENGINE CAME ON, THEN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL, THEN TRACTION CONTROL. THIS CONTINUED TO HAPPEN EVERY TIME THE CAR HAD TO DECELERATE OR STOP AND THE RPMS DROPPED BELOW 1. AT ONE POINT, IT STALLED. I HAD TO PULL OVER, STOP THE CAR AND RESTART IT. IF YOU WERE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY WITH CONTINUOUS GAS THERE WASN'T A PROBLEM. THE DIAGNOSTIC REPAIR IS THE THROTTLE BODY HOUSING NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE ECM SOFTWARE NEEDED TO BE FLASHED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SANSONE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (100, 90 US-1, AVENEL, NJ 07001, (732) 815-2424) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT A SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS NEEDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,299. THE VIN WAS INVALID.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY THE RPM'S WILL DROP DOWN TO 0 AND WITHIN 1-3 SECONDS IT POPS BACK UP TO NORMAL RANGE. SOMETIMES IT KILLS WHILE DRIVING. UNKNOWN REASON. HAVE REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COILS HOPING TO FIND THE CAUSE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HEARN STEIN JEEP (215 WEST EMMITT AVE, WAVERLY, OH) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
ENGINE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AFTER A WEEKEND DRIVE. WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AS WE WERE PARKING. TOOK IT IN TO GET COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR REPLACED, COOLANT FLUSH, AND THERMOSTATS REPLACED. COME TO FIND OUT THE HEAD GASKET BLEW AND DAMAGED THE PISTON RINGS. I NEED A NEW ENGINE! THERE WAS NO WARNING OF HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURES UNTIL 5 SECONDS BEFORE WE PARKED! CAR WAS ALWAYS MAINTAINED. THE ENGINE HAD 79,000 MILES.
WOW, JUST WOW!! ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON THE 2014 JEEP PATRIOT. MINE IS AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP GETTING A NEW THROTTLE BODY KIT. (600$$)....I AM NOT SURE IF I EVER WANT TO DRIVE IT AGAIN AFTER WHAT HAPPENED TO ME. I WENT TO START MY CAR AND THERE WAS NO POWER EVEN WITH A JUMP. AFTER REPLACING THE STARTER, BATTERY, RELAYS, EGINITION SWITCH, THERMOSTATS, ALTER ALTERNATOR AND THROTTLE BODY THE ISSUE CONTINUED. ON THE HWY THE TEMP LIGHT COMES ON AND HAS ISSUES ACCELERATING AND WHEN YOU TRY TO START IT CLICK SEEMS LIKE IT'S NOT GOING TO START AND FINALLY DOES. THE BATTERY LIGHT STAYS ON. AND JUST OVER ALL JERKY AND LIGHTS DIM.
THE ROLL-OVER CHECK VALVE IN THE GAS TANK BECOMES STUCK OPEN AND THE GAS TANK WILL NOT FILL. IF THE CAR ROLLS OVER, ALL THE GAS WOULD SPILL OUT. THE ONLY FIX ACCORDING TO JEEP IS FOR ME TO PAY $1600 FOR A NEW GAS TANK FOR A PROBLEM THAT HAPPENS WITH NORMAL USE OF THE CAR.
"TAKATA RECALL" I HAVE A 2014 JEEP PATRIOT IT HAS 20,456 MILES. THE LAST SIX MONTH I HAVE HAD REPAIRS ON FUEL TANK, FIRST ONE LAST ABOUT 3 MONTH THE LAST ONE DON IN JULY 2019 LASTED 2 DAYS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS SAME PART HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN REPLACED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WOULD NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
2014 JEEP PATRIOT IS STALLING WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE, ESPECIALLY UPHILL. IT IS ALSO STALLING AFTER SLOWING DOWN AND THEN ACCELERATING AGAIN. WHILE GOING UPHILL RECENTLY THE VEHICLE SPUTTERED TO CLIMB UPHILL. LUCKILY THE VEHICLE HAS NOT COMPLETELY STALLED OUT YET. THIS MOSTLY HAPPENS ON CITY STREET HOWEVER WHEN GETTING ONTO THE ON RAMP IT SPUTTERS TO ACCELERATE SOMETIMES AND ALSO IF TRAFFIC COMES TO A STOP ON THE HIGHWAY AND I TRY TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS CAUSING THIS. I HAVE COMPLETED REGULAR MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR SO THIS HAS COME OUT OF NOWHERE. I SEE PREVIOUSLY THERE WAS A RECALL FOR A LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE WHICH COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO STALL BUT I'M NOT SURE IF MY VEHICLE WENT THROUGH THIS RECALL.
I ACCELERATED UP TO 30 MPH ON A CITY STREET AND THEN COASTED UP TO TRAFFIC AND WAS SLOWING DOWN, AT THE LIGHT AND MY CAR ALL THE SUDDEN TURNED ON 3 LIGHTS THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE TROTTLE POSITION LIGHT. I STOPPED MY CAR AT THE LIGHT AND ONCE I DID THE CAR JERKED FORWARD SENDING ME INTO THE INTERSECTION. LUCKY NO ONE WAS COMING BUT I ENDED UP HAVING TO RUN THE RED LIGHT BECAUSE MY CAR JERK FORWARD AGAIN AND ONCE I GAVE IT GAS IT ONLY GOT WORSE. I PULLED OFF INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURNED MY CAR ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES TO RESET THE COMPUTER. IT FINALLY DID AFTER TURNING IT ON AND OFF FIVE TIMES. ALL THE LIGHTS WENT OFF. SO I TRIED TO DRIVE IT TO WORK AND ONCE I DROVE DOWN THE CITY ROAD A LITTLE WAYS (MAYBE A MILE). THE CAR JERKED AND ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT UP AND THEN DOWNSHIFTED AND MY ENGINE THEN REVED TO FIVE THOUSAND RPM. AND ALL THE LIGHTS TURNED BACK ON AND MY CAR JERK VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH. THE RPM'S STAYED AT THREE TO FOUR THOUSAND REVING MY ENGINE NEEDLESSLY. I FINALLY PULLED OFF THE ROAD INTO A PARKING LOT AND HAD TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO A SHOP. THE JEEP CERTIFIED MECHANIC REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY. I HAVE HEARD OF A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS ISSUE
EVERY SUMMER SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR THE CVT TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS OVE 60MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. SEVERAL TIMES MY VEHICLE HAS LOST POWER AND IM FORCED TO THE ROADSIDE TO WAIT UNTIL IT COOLS DOWN. IT HAPPENED TO ME IN CHICAGO ONCE WHERE THERE IS NO SHOULDER TO THE THRUWAY AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO BE KILLED. IVE HAD IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AT LEAST 6 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE HAD NO RESOLVE. THE CAR HAS CURRENTLY BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR OVER A MONTH NOW AND IVE ALSO BEEN DEALING WITH JEEP CUSTOMER CAR AND ALL THEY KEEP TELLING ME IS THAT THEY CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IM LOST AT THIS POINT. I THINK THIS MAY FALL UNDER THE LEMON LAW BUT JEEP WILL NOT WORK ON ANYTHING WITH ME. PLEASE HELP

THEN YESTERDAY I TOOK MY BAXTER JEEP DEALER 17950 BURT STREET OMAHA NE 68118 .. THEY DID COVER MY REPAIR AND PARTS REPLACEMENT COST UNDER JEEP WARRANTY . THEY CHARGE MY $ 716. 63 BAXTER REPLACED CPC 68420395AB T/BODY -KIT & 4884551AA GASKET -THROTTLE BODY $631.31 PLUS TAX TOTAL $ 716.63 THEY CHARGED FROM ME. I FEEL JEEP SHOULD BE CHECKED FOR RECALL AND MY EXPENSES PLEASE BE GIVEN BACK TO ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. AS THIS WAS NOT MY MISTAKE . ITS JEEP COMPANY SHOULD MAKE ASSURE THIS JEEP NOT HAVE THIS DEFECTIVE AGAIN IN ANY OTHER VEHICLES ON THE ROAD. EVERY MUST BE SAFE WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD .
