ENGINE HESITATES WHEN TRYING TO ACCELLERATE FROM JUST STOPPED TO 30MPH AND GEAR FEELS LIKE IT IS IN A LOWER GEAR THAN IT IS EVEN THOUGH IT IS AN AUTOMATIC. DASHBOARD COMPLETELY FLICKERS ALL AREAS OF OPERATION UNTIL FINALLY SHOWING MPH. WHEN I PURCHASED VEHICLE BRAND NEW, IT HAD TO BE TOWED INTO DEALER NEXT MORNING. DEALER STATED BATTERY WAS DEAD AND NEEDED CHARGED AS WELL AS THERE BEING LITTLE TO NO OIL IN VEHICLE. I HAVE NEVER ENCOUNTERED THIS WITH A NEW VEHICLE BEFORE. ALSO THE MESH FROM THE PASSENGER DOOR IS SEPARATING FROM THE HANDLE AS OF 1 WEEK FROM PURCHASE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP RENEGADE. AFTER THE GEAR SHIFT WAS SWITCHED INTO THE DRIVE POSITION, THE VEHICLE REVERSED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT FAILED TO GO INTO DRIVE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000.
MY NEW RENEGADE STARTED HESITATING WHEN ACCELERATING AND WAS NOT SHIFTING PROPERLY. YOU COULD TELL IT WAS STUCK IN GEARS TOO LONG BEFORE SHIFTING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES. FIRST TIME THEY UPDATED THE COMPUTER EVEN THOUGH THEY SAID THEY DID NOT NOTICE ANY ISSUES DURING THEIR TEST DRIVE. SECOND TIME THE TECH SAID HE FELT IT AND FIXED THE PROBLEM WITH A MODULE UPDATE. IT DID RIDE GREAT AFTER THAT-BUT LASTED FOR ONLY ONE DAY. TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK FOR THE THIRD TIME AND THEY DID NOTHING-SAID THEY COULD NOT REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE WHOLE TIME I AM THINKING MAYBE I AM IMAGING THE ISSUE,ONLY TO SPEAK TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER IN THE WAITING ROOM ABOUT HER ONGOING ISSUES IN HER 2012 CHEROKEE-SAME TRANSMISSION AS IN THE RENEGADE. NOW, THE INTERIOR LIGHTS DIM AND COME BACK ON AND THE FRONT WIPERS COME ON WHEN YOU TURN THE BACK WIPERS ON. THE VEHICLE HAS 2070 MILES ON IT. AFTER READING THE OTHER COMPLAINTS (CAR STALLING WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS) I AM CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING IT. THE SERVICE MAN SAID I COULD BRING IT BACK-WHICH I AM GOING TO TOMORROW. BUT IF THEY INSIST THEY DON'T FEEL IT I AM NOT SURE WHAT MY RECOURSE IS. DO I HAVE TO WAIT TILL I CRASH DUE TO A SYSTEM DEFECT>
2015 JEEP RENEGADE: VEHICLE SHIFTS HARD; LIKE A CANON. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO DEALER AND THEY SAID IT JUST NEEDED AN UPDATE. PROBLEM STILL NOT FIXED. VEHICLE MAKES A RINGING SOUND LIKE A PHONE WHEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 65 MILES PER HOUR. VEHICLE RATTLES A LOT ESPECIALLY IN THE SPEAKER AREAS AND ALSO THE DRIVER SIDE SEATBELT AREA. WHEN I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM FIGURE OUT THE RATTLES THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD NOT FIND IT. THE SEATS DO NOT HEAT UP WELL. WHEN IT IS TURNED ON HIGH, IT FEELS LIKE IT IS ON THE LOW SETTING STILL. WHEN THE STEERING WHEN IS BEING TURNED AT ANY SPEED IT MAKES A CREAKING SOUND.
ON FEBRUARY 15, 2015 WITH 8260 MILES THE SERVICE TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE COMPUTER AND IT HAD BEEN REPROGRAMMED. ON FEBRUARY 22, 2015 THE SAME ERROR OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER. I WAS INFORMED THE NEXT DAY THAT THE TRANSMISSION WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED.
I PURCHASED MY 2015 RENEGADE LATITUDE 6-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE LAST FALL AND FOUND THAT FROM THE BEGINNING AT TIMES I HAD DIFFICULTY GETTING IT INTO GEAR. I'VE BEEN DRIVING MANUAL TRANSMISSION CARS (ALL SEDANS UNTIL THIS) FOR NEARLY 35 + YEARS SO I'M FAMILIAR WITH HOW TO SHIFT ETC. I KNEW AND EXPECTED THAT THERE'D BE A LEARNING CURVE AS EVERY VEHICLE IS DIFFERENT. BUT BY NOW IT SHOULD BE RESOLVED. INSTEAD, IT HAS WORSENED. I HAVE MANEUVERED AROUND THE MINOR PROBLEMS -THOSE AT LOWER SPEEDS-HAVING TO DOWNSHIFT A FEW TIMES WHEN I NEEDED TO UPSHIFT (I RELY ON SOUND AND THE RPMS AS MY GUIDE). THE CAR NOW HAS 6200 MILES ON IT (A MIX OF BACK ROAD DRIVING WITH SUBURBAN STREETS AND SOME HIGHWAY) AND IT IS NOW REVVING UNCONTROLLABLY AT TIMES, THROWING ME OUT OF CRUISE CONTROL, ACTING AS IF ON ICE WHEN THERE IS NONE, SURGING FORWARD WHEN I HAVEN'T ACCELERATED. AND THE ADVERTISED 31/27 MPG HAS NOT HAPPENED. I AM NOW DOWN TO 23 MPG. I WILL BE DROPPING IT OFF TOMORROW FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND FOR THEM TO LOOK AT THIS REVVING PROBLEM AND THE LOW MPG. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR, WHICH I LOVE VERY MUCH, ASIDE FROM THE PROBLEMS BTW. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE I SEE THAT THERE HAVE BEEN COMPLAINTS LISTED ON SITES ABOUT JUST THIS THING AND IT IS A REMINDER OF THE OUT OF CONTROL ACCELERATION PROBLEMS OF CARS IN YEARS PAST (LIKE WITH AUDI). PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT TO DO BESIDES TAKING IT INTO THE SHOP. I SEE BELOW THAT YOU ASK WHEN THIS HAPPENED: AS I SAID, FROM THE BEGINNING-I NOTICED THAT WHEN I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND PUT IT INTO FIRST AND THEN SHIFTED INTO 2ND, I'D HAVE TO GO BACK TO FIRST. THEN, IT WOULD SURGE AHEAD AS IF IT WERE IN THIRD OR FOURTH. THAT HAS CONTINUED.. THE SCARY ISSUE IS THE REVVING IN TRAFFIC LAST WEEK. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE THEN.
ENTIRE CAPLESS GAS TANK HOUSING BROKE OFF AND STAYED ATTACHED TO THE GAS NOZZLE AT THE PUMP. ALSO, CONTINUED SQUEALING BRAKES WITH NO FIX. NEEDED SOFTWARE UPDATE AT 125 MILES.
VEHICLE PURCHASED NEW MAY '15. BEGAN JERKING/LAGGING IN THREE LOWEST GEARS. IS AUTOMATIC 9 SPEED. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES FOR "UPDATES," BUT PROBLEM PERSISTED. AT APPROXIMATELY 40K MILES THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. AT APPROXIMATELY 50K MILES TRANSMISSION AGAIN BEGAN JERKING/LAGGING IN THE THREE LOWEST GEARS. CURRENTLY AT DEALERSHIP FOR THE 7TH TIME FOR SAME ISSUE THAT THEY'RE UNABLE TO CORRECT. IT'S DANGEROUS WHEN YOU'RE PULLING OUT OF AN INTERSECTION AND THE TRANSMISSION LAGS. SOMETIMES IT DOES THIS WORSE WHEN IT'S COLD, AND OTHER TIMES IT'S WORSE WHEN THE ENGINE HAS WARMED UP. ALSO MY MPG HAVE DROPPED SIGNIFICANTLY SINCE THE TRANSMISSION ISSUES BEGAN.
AT AROUND 980 MILES, THE CAR STARTED LOOSING POWER AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS JERKING A LOT. THEN I CAME TO A CONDITION WHERE I CANNOT CONTROL THE SPEED ANYMORE. I HAD TO STOP MY CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF HWY-15 AT NIGHT. THIS HAPPENED ON 1/16 AND SAME PROBLEM RECURRED AFTER THE FIRST FIX ATTEMPT. THIS IS A CRITICAL SAFETY ISSUE. I CANNOT IMAGINE DRIVING THIS CAR AGAIN. JUST AFTER 2 WEEKS, AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 10 MILES, THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPENED. THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO BE PREVALENT. IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATE. I AM GOING FOR A LEMON LAW THIS TIME....
VEHICLE UNPREDICTABLY SHIFTS HARD IN DRIVE AND REVERSE. CAR JERKS WHEN BACKING OUT OR PULLING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT, ACCELERATING AFTER MAKING A COMPLETE STOP, AND LESS FREQUENTLY, WHEN ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 20-30 MPH. DATE AND MILEAGE OF INCIDENT IS THE DATE OF FIRST OCCURRENCE TO THE BEST THAT I CAN RECALL AND CONTINUES AT PRESENT ON A NEAR-DAILY BASIS CREATING INCREASED RISK OF ACCIDENTS.
FORWARD COLLISION WARNING HAS BEEN ACTIVATING RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREETS AND WHILE ENTERING/EXITING HIGHWAY RAMPS, SPECIFICALLY WHERE OVERPASSES ARE PRESENT. ALSO, THE FCW LIGHT WOULD COME ON RANDOMLY AT START UP OF THE VEHICLE FORCING ME TO GO TO SETTINGS AND TURNING BACK ON. IT WAS DETERMINED BY THE LOCAL DEALER THAT THE FCW WAS NOT WORKING AT ALL. THE FCW WOULD NOT BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP DURING DEALER PERFORMED OBSTACLE TEST. SO FAR ALL ATTEMPS TO REPAIR BY THE DEALER HAVE FAILED.
ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON LIGHTING ON AND OFF. I WENT TO MECHANIC AND IT'S THE COOLANT THERMOSTAT. WHICH MIGHT BE AFFECTING MY INTAKE AIR TEMPERATURE. IN COLD WEATHER ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF AND IN HOT WEATHER IT TURNS ON. THIS CAUSES MY JEEP TO STRUGGLE WHEN I WANT TO SPEND UP ON HIGHWAY. THE OTHER ANNOYING PROBLEM IS THAT WHEN I'M IN IDLE AT A STOP LIGHT THE JEEP SHAKES SO MUCH THAT I FEEL IT ALL OVER CAR. IT ALSO HAS A VERY LOUD NOISE TO IT. MY OTHER PROBLEM IS WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE MY VOLUME TO MY RADIO GOES DOWN. NEVER FAILS. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TELL SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I HAD MY JEEP DIAGNOSED 3 TIMES AND IT COMES OUT THAT IT'S THE THERMOSTAT. DEALERSHIP WAS TELLING IT WAS THE FUEL INJECTOR WHICH HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH COOLANT ISSUES. I ALSO HEAR MY TRANSMISSION CLICK HARD WHEN CHANGING GEARS FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE. IT IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.
THE 2015 JEEP RENEGADE HAS HAD ABOUT 800 MILES WHEN THE PROBLEM APPEARED. I WAS DRIVING ON A FREEWAY AT 70 MPH. ALL THE SUDDEN, THE CAR STARTED JERKING AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE EVEN WHEN I PUSH THE PEDAL AS I INTENDED. SO I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND STARTED DRIVING LOCAL AT LOWER SPEED, AND THE CAR WAS ACTING EVEN MORE WEIRD. THE CAR WAS JERKING AND CAME TO STOP. THE ENGINE WAS ON BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. LUCKILY, IT WAS AT NIGHT TIME AND IN RESIDENTIAL AREA, THERE WERE ONLY FEW CARS AROUND SO THEY COULD DRIVE AROUND. I CHANGED THE AUTOMATIC MODE, 'D', TO THE SEMI-MANUAL MODE. THE FREQUENCY OF THE JERKING REDUCED BUT THE CAR CAME TO A STOP AGAIN WHILE I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 6 MILES TO DROP THE CAR AT A REPAIR SHOP AT A MFG AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED SERIOUS PROPERTY DAMAGE AND BODILY HARM. I WAS LUCKY THAT THERE WERE MANY CARS AROUND AT THE TIME AND THE CAR DID NOT STALL ON THE FREEWAY. I AM NOT AN EXPERT, BUT THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE RELATED TO THE POWER TRAIN (AND SPEED CONTROL POSSIBLY.) I HOPE I AM THE ONLY PERSON WITH THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM MUST BE ASSESSED AND APPROPRIATE ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN. MY CAR IS CURRENTLY AT A REPAIR SHOP AND WILL BE ASSESSED, HOPEFULLY TOMORROW.
I BOUGHT MY VEHICLE APPROX MAY 2015 DROVE 7600 WITH VIRTUALLY NO PROBLEMS. ALL OF A SUDDEN BEGAN HAVING SHIFTING ISSUES WITH A BAD HESITATION BETWEEN GEARS TO THE POINT WHERE I DIDN'T THINK THE VEHICLE WOULD MOVE THEN IT DID. TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP & THEY DID AN UPDATE ON THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE. THAT MADE IT BETTER FOR ONLY A SHORT TIME. MY CAR STARTED DOING IT AGAIN BUT WAS A LOT WORSE. CAR HAD 14000 MILES ON IT & IT WAS JERKING INTO GEAR. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP & THEY VERIFIED THE ROUGH SHIFTING SAID THEY WERE TOLD BY CHRYSLER TO DO A RELEARN PROCEDURE ON TRANSMISSION & THAT SOMETIMES WILL CORRECT THE ISSUE. THE TRANSMISSION ISN'T JERKING INTO GEAR AT THE MOMENT BUT YOU CAN STILL FEEL IT SHIFT INTO GEAR. THINK THIS PROBLEM REALLY NEEDS TO BE RESEARCHED.
BRAKES: BRAKES MAKING NOISE WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION SINCE PURCHASE; SEVERE ROTOR WEAR AND MALFUNCTION SIX MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE; ROTORS DEEPLY GOUGED AND GLAZED BLUE 12 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE; BRAKE FUNCTION IN SERIOUS DECLINE; TWO THIRD PARTY MECHANICS CONFIRMED; JEEP DENIES THERE IS A PROBLEM AND REFUSES TO ADDRESS. TRANSMISSION: (ALL ISSUES WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION - BOTH WHILE DRIVING FORWARD AND IN REVERSE) AUDIBLE THUDS, CLUNKS, "BICYCLE CHAIN" NOISE, DELAY 10-30 SECONDS WHEN CHANGING GEARS, GEARS SLIPPING WHILE IN MOTION (WITH INDICATOR LIGHT), ACCELERATION (DUE TO DOWN SHIFTING) AFTER BRAKING (IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC) BUT I'M NOT STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL; WHEN STARTING FROM A FULL STOP (AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT) I PUSH ON THE GAS PEDAL BUT THE CAR DOESN'T MOVE, THEN LURCHES FORWARD AND CLUNKS); BACKING UP IN REVERSE, WHEN PUTTING THE CAR INTO DRIVE AND TRYING TO MOVE, THE CAR TAKES UP TO 30 SECONDS TO RECOGNIZE THIS BUT STILL CLUNKS AND LURCHES FORWARD ELECTRICAL: SEVERAL INDICATOR LIGHTS (SUCH AS THE ICY CONDITIONS INDICATOR) WORKED IN THE FIRST FEW MONTHS BUT NO LONGER WORK; REMOTE ENTRY ACCESS IS INTERMITTENT AT BEST (I HAVE TO BE PRACTICALLY TOUCHING THE CAR WITH MY REMOTE TO UNLOCK IT); SOMETIMES THE CAR DOESN'T ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS REMOTE ENTRY AT ALL; THE ABILITY TO ADJUST THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT (SEAT RECLINE, SEAT POSITION) HAS FAILED AT TIMES (MOST RECENTLY I WAS ON A FERRY BOAT AND HAD PUT THE SEAT BACK TO NAP (CAR WAS OFF/PARKED) AND THE SEAT WOULD NOT GO BACK UP INTO A REGULAR DRIVING POSTION - HAD TO RESTART THE CAR ON/OFF SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THE ABILITY WAS RESTORED); TWICE IN DECEMBER 2016 THE ENTIRE DASH COMPUTER GAVE ME A WARNING THAT THERE WAS A SYSTEM ISSUE (WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY) AND IT SHUT DOWN AND REBOOTED WHILE I WAS DRIVING; WHEN STARTING THE CAR EVERY SINGLE LIGHTING DASH WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND FLASHES OVER AND OVER (5 MINS)
JUST PURCHASED A JEEP RENEGADE. MUCH TO OUR SURPRISE THE CAR DOES NOT COME WITH A SPARE TIRE EVEN THOUGH IT HAS A SPOT FOR IT IN THE REAR. I BELIEVE IT TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IF A PERSON HAS A FLAT IN A AREA THAT IS NOT WELL TRAVELED AND HAS NO CELL SERVICE THIS COULD BE A LIFE OR DEATH MATTER. IF THE TEMPS ARE FREEZING OR EXTREMELY HOT AND YOU ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE YOU WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE ON THE RIM TILL YOU GOT HELP OR CRASH. WHICHEVER ACCURSE FIRST. IF YOU HAD TO WALK IN EXTREME COLD FOR A LONG DISTANCE YOU COULD GET HYPOTHERMIA OR WORSE. IN EXTREME HEAT YOU COULD DEHYDRATE BEFORE YOU GET HELP. THE LIST GOES ON THERE IS NO GOOD POINTS TO NOT HAVING A SPARE TIRE.

THE CONTACT LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION SETTLEMENT AND AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS ISSUE BUT HAD NOT YET CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,500. TF
I'VE HAD SHIFTING ISSUES WITH MY VEHICLE FOR OVER 1 YEAR NOW. VEHICLE SHIFTS ROUGH AND SURGES UNEXPECTEDLY AND RANDOMLY EVERYDAY. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP MORE THAN 5 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE WITH NO RESOLUTION AND STATEMENTS STATING THEY "CAN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS" WITH MY TRANSMISSION. MY VEHICLE SURGES WITHOUT PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL AND ADHERES MY VEHICLE FROM BRAKING ADEQUATELY TO THE POINT WHERE I'M NERVOUS IT WILL PUSH ME INTO A STOPPING CAR IN FROM OF ME.
SETTING FOR AUTOMATIC TURN-ON OF ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT "HOLD" IN THE UCONNECT (RADIO) SETTINGS AS SET BY THE CONSUMER. THE SETTING REGARDING THE PARKING BRAKE TURNS ON BY ITSELF, MEANING THE PARKING BRAKE CAN COME ON BY ITSELF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS SWITCHED OFF. THIS IS JUST ONE OF THE MANY SETTINGS INCLUDING CORNERING LIGHTS WHICH CHANGES AT THE COMPUTER'S WHIM. THIS SAME UCONNECT SYSTEM CAUSES THE MEASUREMENT OF MILES PER HOUR TO CHANGE TO KILOMETERS PER HOUR RANDOMLY, AND TIRE PRESSURE MEASUREMENT TO CHANGE FROM PSI TO BARS. THE AMOUNT OF TIME HEADLIGHTS REMAIN-ON AFTER ENGINE SHUT DOWN ALSO RANDOMLY CHANGES. THE RADIO/UCONNECT/"BRAIN" OF THE CAR HAS ALREADY HAD THE ONE UPDATE POSTED BY FCA INSTALLED TO PREVENT HACKING WHICH IS THE ONLY UPDATE FCA HAS AVAILABLE. THESE SETTINGS SEEM TO CHANGE RANDOMLY, OBSERVED MAINLY WHEN STARTING THE CAR, BUT THE DASHBOARD "UNITS OF MEASUREMENT" HAVE CHANGED ONCE WHILE IN MOTION.

JUST BEFORE SHUTTING DOWN, MY CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS AND BEGAN TO LOSE SPEED EVEN THOUGH THE RPMS WERE HITTING THE RED MARKS. IT WAS SERVICED, AND GIVEN 2 SOFTWARE UPDATES. A WEEK LATER, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. YOU CAN PUSH THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, BUT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCELERATE, INSTEAD IT DIES, HOWEVER THE RPM'S GO UP AS HIGH AS THEY CAN GO BUT MY CAR WON'T SHIFT GEARS. NOW IT IS IN THE SHOP (FOR OVER A WEEK), SUPPOSEDLY GETTING A NEW FUEL PUMP, WHICH I DO NOT THINK IS THE ULTIMATE PROBLEM. I HAVE READ ABOUT THE 9 SPEED AUTOMATIC PROBLEMS AND THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT KEEPS HAPPENING. AFTER PUTTING ME IN DANGER TWICE, I FEEL CERTAIN AS SOON AS I GET MY NEW FUEL PUMP AND DRIVE HOME, THIS WILL BREAK DOWN AGAIN. I HAVE HAD THE JEEP ONE MONTH, BRAND NEW.

ANOTHER QUESTION UNANSWERED BY THE JEEP SERVICE DEPT OF ROCKLAND CNTY NY.NOW THAT MY JEEP IS OVER 150,000 MILES THE ELECTRICAL IS SHOT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND GOES OFF FROM TIME TO TIME. "TAKATA RECALL" AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE FROM A PARKING SPOT AT THE VA, I SMELLED GAS, AND IT STALLED. AFTER STARTING SEVERAL MORE TIME, AND ONLY ABLE TO MAKE IT APPROXIMATELY SEVERAL FEET EACH TIME. THE VEHICLE FINALLY DIED, LEAVING A TRAIL OF GAS, AND A HUGE PUDDLE UNDERNEATH. IT WAS THE FUEL RETURN LINE WHERE THE PLASTIC CONNECTS TO METAL. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS.

WHEN USING "AUTOSTICK" TO DOWNSHIFT THE 9-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION THE COMPUTER "UNLOADS" THE DRIVETRAIN AND AT TIMES IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS BEING SHOT OUT OF A CANON. THIS IS WORST AT HIGHER SPEEDS, WHEN TOWING, AND ON DOWNGRADES. IT HAPPENS WHEN SHIFTING FROM 8 TO 7 AND 5 TO 4. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE CAR IS OPERATING "AS DESIGNED" SO THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING. THE OTHER FIX IS A SOFTWARE UPDATE BUT I'VE GOTTEN ALL AVAILABLE AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. JEEP HAS THE SAME ATTITUDE. WHEN USING AUTOSTICK TO DOWNSHIFT FROM 5 TO 4 ON A 9% DOWNGRADE THE CAR SPEEDS UP FROM 45MPH TO 50 MPH DURING THE 2 SECOND SHIFT. THEN, BECAUSE OF OVERLY CONSERVATIVE DOWNSHIFT PROTOCOLS (THE ENGINE HAS A MAX RPM OF 6500 BUT DURING DOWNSHIFTING THE COMPUTER NEVER LETS IT EXCEED 3000 RPM), THE COMPUTER WON'T LET ME DOWNSHIFT THE TRANSMISSION AT ALL, THERE IS NO ENGINE BRAKING AND THE CAR KEEPS GAINING SPEED. AS LONG AS THE BRAKES ARE WORKING THERE IS HELP BUT WITHOUT NORMAL BRAKES THERE IS NO WAY TO SLOW THE CAR. THE COMPUTER KEEPS SAYING NO TO A DOWNSHIFT AND THERE IS NO EMERGENCY BRAKE, ONLY A PARKING BRAKE THAT IS EITHER ALL OFF OR ALL ON/REAR WHEELS LOCKED. LOCKING THE REAR WHEELS AT 70MPH, OR WORSE TURNING THE WHEELS TO MAKE A TURN WITH LOCKED REAR WHEELS RESULTS IN A SPIN AND THEN TRAGEDY. I TOOK DELIVERY OF THE CAR NEW IN OCTOBER OF 2015 AND IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS THE WHOLE TIME. ONE OF THE DEALER MECHANICS TOLD ME THAT THE REASON THIS HAPPENS IS THAT FOR THOSE SHIFTS A SLEEVE ON A SPLINED SHAFT HAS TO SLIDE SO ALL PRESSURE HAS TO BE REMOVE FROM THE SLEEVE. IT SOUNDS LIKE A BAD DESIGN FOR THE SAKE OF FUEL MILEAGE WITHOUT DUE CONSIDERATION FOR SAFETY.

THEY TELL ME THE REMOTE START DOES IT IF BATTERY IS LOW. SO I START PARKING IT OUTSIDE AS NOT TO DIE FROM CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING TO FIND IT OUTSIDE RUNNING EVERY NIGHT. AT 1200 MILES THE REAR END STARTS GROWLING AND TRANSMISSION WON'T SHIFT AND IT RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. ITS THE REMOTE STARTER THEY SAY SO THEY REMOVE IT. THEY GAVE IT BACK TO ME WITH MY MONEY BACK. DOES IT AGAIN 3 MORE TIMES AND TOOK IT IN 3 MORE TIMES FOR SHUTTING OFF ON HIGHWAY, REAR END GROWLING STILL AND TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING. GET IT BACK WE COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT BUT WE DID UPDATES TO THE COMPUTER AND TRANSMISSION. NEXT DAY RADIO STARTS CHANGING STATIONS ON ITS OWN AS I RECORD IT WITH MY PHONE, LIGHTS GOING OFF AND ON, WINDOWS NOT WORKING AND STILL NOT SHIFTING. THEY REPLACED REAR END PIG, RADIO, WIRING HARNESS AS THEY SAID THE GUY BENT A PIN INSTALLING REMOTE STARTER. THEN AT 17,000 MILES REAR END AND TRANSMISSION START DOING IT AGAIN AND THE SHORTING COMES BACK, NEW REAR PINION AT ANOTHER DEALERSHIP, NEW RADIO AGAIN AS THE OTHER ONE SHORTED OUT, TRANSMISSION STILL NOT SHIFTING. FILED FOR LEMON LAW CHRYSLER COMES BACK WITH THE CAR IS FINE ITS DUE TO THE AFTER MARKET EQUIPMENT I HAD INSTALLED. YOUR DEALER SHIP IS WHO HAD IT INSTALLED BRAND NEW VEHICLE. STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH TRANSMISSION NOT SHIFTING OR TAKING OFF WHEN PUSHING GAS PEDAL. STUCK WITH THIS JUNK CAUSE THEY WON'T TAKE IT BACK. PURCHASED 2015 JEEP RENEGADE AND HAVE 531 MILES ON IT CURRENTLY. THE SERVICE 4WHEEL DRIVE HAS FLASHED THREE TIMES IN NORMAL CITY DRIIVING WHILE THE AUTOMATIC 4X4 IS ENGAGED. THE JEEP HAS BEEN TAKEN INTO THE DEALER FOR WARRANTY REPAIR SINCE 8 OCT 15. ON OCTOBER 2, 2015 I WAS DRIVING DOWN A CITY STREET NEAR MY HOME. AS I CAME TO A STOPLIGHT THE ENGINE CUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS OR MESSAGES ON THE DASHBOARD, THE ENGINE SIMPLY CUT OFF. I TRIED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, AND RECEIVED THE MESSAGE 'SHIFT TO PARK, THEN TO DRIVE.' AT THIS POINT I WAS A HAZARD IN THE ROAD THAT OTHER VEHICLES HAD TO SWERVE TO AVOID. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE ENGINE RESTARTED AND TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY MILE TO A SPOT WHERE I COULD TURN AROUND. AS I TURNED ONTO A SIDE STREET THE ENGINE AGAIN CUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO COAST TO THE SIDE STREET TO A SAFE PARKING SPOT. AFTER ABOUT 15 MINS I WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND DRIVE IT MILE TO MY HOME WHERE I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER. THE DEALERSHIP KEPT MY VEHICLE FOR NEARLY A WEEK, BUT WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY STATED TO ME THAT THEY ATTACHED THE CHRYSLER COMPUTER DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND NO ERRORS REGISTERED AND THAT THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THEY DROVE IT FOR 10 MILES AND COULD NOT GET THE ISSUE TO REPEAT, SO THEY TOLD ME TO PICK UP THE VEHICLE AND CONTINUE DRIVING IT. ON OCT 9 THE VEHICLE LOST POWER WHILE TURNING, BUT THE ENGINE DID NOT SHUT OFF AND AGAIN DISPLAYED NO WARNING LIGHTS. ON OCT 15 THE ENGINE AGAIN CUT OFF, BUT THIS TIME ON AN INCLINE AND ALMOST ROLLED INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND DISCOVERED THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE. MY SAFETY CONCERNS WITH THE RENEGADE ARE AS FOLLOWS:1) NONE OF THE ENGINE SENSING SYSTEMS REGISTERED THE LOW OIL, 2) IF THE LOW OIL LEVEL TRIGGERED THE ENGINE SAFETY CUTOFF WHY WAS THIS NOT REGISTERED IN THE VEHICLE'S FAULT LOG, AND 3) AFTER THE ENGINE SAFETY CUTOFF WAS TRIGGERED AND THERE WERE NO ERROR OR CHECK ENGINE MESSAGES OF ANY KIND. THEY COULD FIND NO RECORD OF ANY PROBLEMS.

THEN, JANUARY 15TH I WAS DRIVING THROUGH THE IMPERIAL DUNES AREA ON THE WAY TO CALIFORNIA AND THE HARD PLASTIC STRIP THAT COVERS THE ROOF RACK HARDWARE (I DO NOT HAVE A ROOF RACK SO JEEP PUT A STRIP IN THERE TO COVER THE HARDWARE) BROKE IN HALF AND FLEW OFF MY VEHICLE WHILE GOING 70 MILES AN HOUR INTO THE TRAFFIC BEHIND ME.
POWER DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING 9-17-15. WENT TO DEALER 9-22-15, THEY SAID THAT KEY FOB WAS BAD, NEW ONE ON ORDER. TURN ON FRONT WIPERS THE BACK WIPER WILL TURN ON SOMETIMES, WITH THE BACK WIPER SWITCH OFF. THE CAR SAT IDLE FOR 8 DAYS, THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. I TRIED TO START COULD'NT GET KEY OUT OF IGNITION. HAD TO JUMP BATTERY 3 TIMES WITH BATTERY PACK TO GET CAR STARTED. WHEN BATTERY WENT DEAD THE CAR COMPUTER RESET AND MY POWER DOOR LOCKS NOW WORK WITH KEY FOB. WAITING TO SEE HOW LONG CAR WILL RUN, CAN'T TRUST IT.

I NOTICE THAT WHEN IN PARK THE TACHOMETER WOULD REV UP WITHOUT THE GAS PEDAL BEING PRESSED DOWN. I WOULD HAVE TO PUT CAR IN PARK AT STOPS OR RED LIGHTS TO RESTART CAR AND PUT BACK INTO DRIVE TO GET GOING. EVEN THEN THE CAR WOULD LAG TRYING TO GET BACK UP TO SPEED. IT WOULD SHUTTER WHEN DRIVING AT LOW MPH. THIS IS HORRIBLE AND I AM AFRAID I WILL GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. MY DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT WHEN I HAD THE PROBLEM THE FIRST TIME( AFTER I DROVE RIGHT OF THE LOT). SO HERE IT IS A MONTH AND HALF LATER AND THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED BUT WORSE THAN BEFORE. I AM TAKING THE CAR BACK TO SERVICE AGAIN. I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND THEN SHIFTED IT FROM PARK TO DRIVE. ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS FLASHED AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR SYSTEMS WENT DEAD. I SHIFTED BACK TO PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN. IT DID NOT START AND TURNING THE KEY RESULTED IN ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS LIGHTING UP. THE PARKING BRAKE ENGAGED AND DID NOT RELEASE. THE POWER DOOR LOCKS AND WINDOWS DID NOT WORK BUT AFTER THE KEY WAS TURNED THE HEADLIGHTS DID FLASH IF THE LOCK OR UNLOCK BUTTONS ON THE KEY FOB WERE PUSHED. ALSO THE STEERING WHEEL DID NOT TURN WITH THE KEY IN PLACE AND THE KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAD TO RESORT TO USING A POWER PACK ON THE BATTERY TERMINALS TO GET POWER TO THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SO HE COULD RESTORE THE STEERING AND RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE. AT THE DEALERSHIP THAT REPAIRED THE CAR THEY FOUND THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS FUNCTIONAL AND THE BATTERY FULLY CHARGED. THE SERVICE RECIEPT STATES THE DTCM HAD AN ACTIVE CODE C2502-64 AND THEY FLASHED DTCM WITH LATEST FLASH NUMBER AND CLEARED CODES.
THIS IS THE SECOND COMPLAINT ABOUT THE 2015 JEEP RENEGADE, AFTER THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED WITH 2000 MILES ON IT, NOW THE BRAKE LININGS NEED REPLACED WITH 2,700 MILES ON IT. PLEASE WILL SOMEONE DO AN INVESTIGATION ON THIS VEHICLE.

ALTHOUGH VEHICLE DIDN'T STOP OR JOLT IN THE MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY BUT COULD FEEL THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. TOOK IT TO DEALER, STILL SITTING THERE, APPARENTLY NEEDS A WHOLE TRANSMISSION COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND SOME HARNESS REPLACED. SUPER UNRELIABLE CAR! NOT SURE IF IT WILL DO SAME THING AGAIN. GLAD IT DIDN'T STOP IN MIDDLE OF HIGHWAY! JEEP NEEDS TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES BEFORE SOMEBODY DIES! NOT SURE WHY SAFETY OFFICIALS ARE NOT TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY YET EVEN AFTER SO MANY COMPLAINTS ON A BRAND NEW MODEL CAR!
ON 7-23-2014, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO BACK UP, THE JEEP WOULD NOT MOVE AND NO LESS THAN 5 WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. MULTIPLE MESSAGES:SERVICE HILL START ASSIST, SERVICE ENGINE, SERVICE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE, SERVICE TRANSMISSION. SHIFTED TO PARK, HUGE CLUNK, SHIFTED BACK TO REVERSE, HUGE CLUNK, THEN WAS ABLE TO BACK UP. SHIFTED TO DRIVE, WOULDN'T MOVE. REPEATED PROCESS, CLUNKING TRANSMISSION, THEN MOVED FORWARD. DROVE HOME SLOWLY THEN HAD TOWED TO DEALER. SEE ONLINE THAT THE 9 SPEED 948TE AUTO TRANSMISSION IS A PROBLEM. WHY ISN'T ANYONE LOOKING AT THIS?? DEALER HAS JEEP AND HAS DONE 7 SOFTWARE UPDATES AND AREN'T SURE IF IT WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. I PAID $28,000 AND DON'T KNOW IF THE &#@% THING IS GOING TO DO THIS EVERY TIME I LEAVE THE DRIVEWAY. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS. I UNDERSTAND THE 2013 FORWARD CHEROKEE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND NO ONE IS HELPING THESE OWNERS EITHER.
BOTH KEY FOBS BEGAN TO HAVE DELAYED RESPONSE WHEN LOCKING AND UNLOCKING VEHICLE. AUTOMATIC LOCKS STOPPED WORKING, BUT BACK HATCH WOULD STILL LOCK AND UNLOCK. LOCK AND UNLOCK BUTTONS WOULDN'T WORK ON DRIVER-SIDE AND PASSENGER-SIDE DOORS. DISCONNECTED AND RECONNECTED BATTERY, THEN THE LOCKS WORKED AGAIN.
PRESS REMOTE TO LOCK DOORS, REAR DON'T LOCK, TRIED AGAIN THEN FRONT DOESN'T LOCK. SO NOW CAR WON'T OPEN OR LUCK WITH REMOTE. I REPROGRAM LOCKS ON UCONNECT STILL DOESN'T WORK. YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK THE DOORS. I CONSIDER THIS A SAFETY RECALL . IF YOU HAVE KIDS IN BACK THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO GET OUT UNLESS YOU REACH INSIDE VEHICLE TO OPEN. HOPE THE CAR DOESN'T CATCH FIRE WITH KIDS IN BACK. KEY IS ALSO HARD TO PUT IN IGNITION AND TAKE OUT.(BATTERIES IN REMOTE ARE FINE I CHECKED FULL POWER). I THINK THE MANUFACTURERS ARE IN A HURRY TO RELEASE THE VEHICLES BEFORE THEY ARE PROPERLY TESTED.
I PURCHASED THE CAR BRAND NEW AND HAD IT FOR 6 DAYS. WE DROVE FROM DENVER TO BRECKINRIDGE. WE WERE COMING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN WHEN THE CAR SHUT OFF GOING 70 MILES AN HOUR. AT ONE POINT THE HYDRAULICS WENT OUT AND THE BRAKES DID NOT WORK. WE PULLED THE CAR OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT TOOK ABOUT 10 MINUTES TO START UP THE CAR AGAIN. WE PROCEEDED ON, THINKING IT WAS SOMETHING WITH THE ALTITUDE AND WAS A FLUKE. NO, IT HAPPENED TO US AGAIN. THE SAME THING. THE CAR SHUT OFF AGAIN GOING 70 AND THE BRAKES DIDN'T WORK. IT WAS TERRIFYING. THE CAR WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION AND ASSOCIATED PARTS, ON A NEW CAR WITH 400 MILES. IF THIS WAS IN THE WINTER AND THE ROADS WERE ICY, MY FAMILY AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD.
THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED AT HIGH SPEEDS, OR IDLED AND SHOOK BEFORE FINALLY SPUTTERING AND ENGINE DYING. VARIOUS ISSUES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. COULD NOT RESTART AND HAD TO TOW. ENGINE STALLED AT FULL SPEED THREE TIMES ALL WHILE VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW, FIRST MONTH OF OWNERSHIP AND UNDER 1500 MILES.
I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY MY BRAND NEW CAR STALLED AND WOULD NOT SHIFT BACK INTO GEAR. THE CAR BECAME IMMOBILIZED AND HAD TO GET TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY REPLACED THE FUEL VALVE AND DID NOT TEST FOR TRANSMISSION OR ELECTRICAL ISSUES. TWO DAYS LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY. I TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT, SO THEY UPDATED THE SOFTWARE IN THE CAR BECAUSE TWO UPDATES WERE AVAILABLE. I GOT THE CAR BACK AND IT BROKE DOWN FOR A THIRD TIME, AGAIN AFTER ONLY 2 DAYS. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY IN THE SHOP AND CHRYSLER IS RELUCTANT TO BUYBACK THE VEHICLE. NOBODY CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG.
WATER HAS BEEN LEAKING INTO THE CAR AND FORMING A PUDDLE IN THE CARPETING ON THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AND REAR FLOOR. I BELIEVE IT IS COMING FROM THE AC.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHEN APPROACHING A STOP AND WHILE TURNING IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DEALERS: THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS: CHAMPION CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (4505 WEST 96TH STREET, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46268, (317) 872-6200) AND TOM O'BRIEN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM INDIANAPOLIS (4630 E 96TH ST, INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46240, (317) 805-4400). THE TRANSMISSION WAS FLUSHED AND DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS PROVIDED, BUT THE DEALERS WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A PERMANENT REMEDY FOR THE FAILURES. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V529000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
