SO, I HAVE HAD MY 2015 JEEP RENEGADE SPORT FRONT WHEEL DRIVE FOR ALMOST 3 1/2 YEARS. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE JERKING OF THE SHIFTING OF MY CAR WHEN I DRIVE, THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE SUMMER OF 2017, I BOUGHT MY RENEGADE NEW FEBRUARY 2016. WINTER 2017 IT STARTED REVVING TOO HIGH WHEN STOPPED AT THE STOPLIGHTS OR AT A STOP SIGN. THEN AT THE BEGINNING OF NOVEMBER 2018 MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POPS ON AND I TOOK IT RIGHT AWAY TO AUTO ZONE SO THEY CAN RUN DIAGNOSTICS AND CAME TO FIND OUT THAT MY THERMOSTAT WENT OUT, MY CAR JUST ROLLED OVER 38,000 MILES, MY WARRANTY WAS UP AT 36,000, I HAD TO SHELL OUT OVER $500 TO REPLACE THAT, I'M GLAD I DID BECAUSE I LIVE IN THE MIDWEST IN THE QUAD CITY AREA ON THE ILLINOIS SIDE AND OUR COLDEST DAY WAS 55 BELOW 0. THEN JUST TODAY, JUNE 1ST, 2019 MY RADIATOR COOLING FAN MOTOR WENT OUT ALL OF THE SUDDEN. I WAS AT SAM'S CLUB, TURNED MY CAR ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT POPPED ON AGAIN AND IT STARTED TO OVERHEAT AND AGAIN MADE MY WAY OVER TO AUTO ZONE AND THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS AGAIN AND AS SOON AS I GOT IN MY CAR MY AIR CONDITIONING WENT OUT AND CALLED MY MOM AND TOLD HER WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT, CALLED MY DAD, THEN IT STARTED TO COMPLETELY OVERHEAT AND THE WARNING POPPED UP AND I CALLED MY DAD AND MY OLDER BROTHER TOOK THE PHONE AND TOLD ME TO TURN THE HEATER ON IN MY CAR TO DRAW HEAT AWAY, IT WORKED AND I MADE IT HOME TO PORT BYRON, IL WITHOUT HAVING TO PULL OVER BECAUSE MY BROTHER TOLD ME TO TURN THE HEATER ON AND ROLL THE WINDOWS DOWN AND LOTS OF PRAYER HELPED GET ME HOME SAFELY.
THE TRANSMISSION OF MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN DOING HARD SHIFTS AND, AT TIMES, NOT SHIFTING AT ALL WHEN THE GAS PETAL IS PRESSED WHICH HAS SUBSEQUENTLY HAS ALMOST CAUSED MAJOR ACCIDENTS. THE RPM GAUGE ROTATES EXCEEDINGLY HIGH TO THE POINT OF THE FEELING OF STALLING OUT BEFORE THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY SHIFTS INTO GEAR, ESPECIALLY WHEN IN HIGH TRAFFIC, STOP AND GO ROADS SUCH AS CITIES WHERE BREAKING AND ACCELERATING ARE FREQUENT. WHEN THE VEHICLE DOES FINALLY SHIFT INTO GEAR, IT FEELS AS THOUGH THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN HIT BECAUSE IT LURCHES FORWARD IN SUCH AN EXTREME AND FORCEFUL MANNER. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN COMPLAINED UPON BY MANY 2015 RENEGADE OWNERS AND UPON BRINGING THE CAR IN FOR MAINTENANCE, ARE TOLD ITS 'JUST THE WAY THE CAR IS BUILT' OR 'IT'S PERFORMING AS IT'S SUPPOSED TO'. I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND INVESTIGATED FOR A SOLUTION BEFORE HARM COMES TO THE OCCUPANTS OR OTHER NEARBY MOTORISTS.
RADIATOR COOLING FAN SEIZED UP, PRODUCING BLACK ELECTRICAL SMOKE WHICH CONSEQUENTLY CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT. THIS HAPPENED STATIONARY ON A STOP LIGHT.
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE WHEN I WAS GETTING NOTIFICATIONS ON MY DASHBOARD OF DIFFERENT THINGS FROM TORQUE TO TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE THEN SUDDENLY STALLED WHILE I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I WAS AT A RED LIGHT THANKFULLY. I TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF/ON, THEN AS PUT THE VEHICLE IN DRIVE, I COULD HEAR A LOUD BANG AND THEN I DROVE INTO A PARKING LOT.
I PARKED MY RENEGADE IN A STORE PARKING AREA, CAME OUT OF THE STORE AND RESTARTED MY CAR. THE CAR LET ME DRIVE 1/4 MILE THEN AT A STOP LIGHT I CHANGED GEARS AND THE CAR WOULD NOT GO INTO ANY GEAR. IT WILL NOT SHIFT INTO A GEAR, INCLUDING REVERSE. THE CLUTCH PEDAL WORKS. THE CAR WILL MOVE IN LIMBO GEAR SLOWLY IF I ATTEMPT TO DRIVE IT. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT GEAR OR HOW FAST IT WILL GO. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING. I'M GLAD I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN IT HAPPENED AND NOT WHILE SHIFTING THE GEARS.
DRIVER'S SEAT BELT BUCKLE MECHANISM BROKE WHEN INSERTING SEAT BELT WHILE STATIONARY. NO ACCIDENTS OR INCIDENTS FOR THIS VEHICLE, POOR MANUFACTURING. BUCKLE MECHANISM DOES NOT ALLOW SEATBELT TO BE INSERTED OR LOCKED. UPON INFORMING A JEEP DEALER, THEY WILL NOT REPLACE WITHOUT FULL CHARGE FOR BUCKLE AND LABOR. THEY STATED EVEN MANUFACTURING DEFECTS ARE NO LONGER COVERED AFTER BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY IS EXPIRED. UPON CONTACTING CHRYSLER TO REQUEST FOR THE SEAT BELT TO BE REPAIRED AS THIS IS A SAFETY ITEM AND REQUIRED TO UTILIZE THE VEHICLE ON ANY ROADS; ITS INTENDED PURPOSE, WAS DENIED BASED ON BUMPER TO BUMPER IS ONLY 36 MONTHS OR 36,000 MILES.
THE HEAT IN THE VEHICLE WAS COMING OUT COLD. CAR BEGAN OVERHEATING AND TEMPERATURE ROSE TO OVER 220. CAR BEGAN TO OVERHEAT. HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE FOR 25 MINUTES TO ALLOW IT TO COOL. THIS HAPPENED TWICE. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. BROUGHT TO A MECHANIC WHO RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND THE COOLING FAN WAS FAILING. MECHANIC STATED WHEN THE CODE WAS PUT IN THE JEEP RENEGADE WAS THE FIRST VEHICLE TO POP UP. THIS SHOULD BE A KNOWN MECHANICAL RECALL. CAR ONLY HAS 50,000 MILES ON IT AND THE FAN SHOULD NOT BE FAILING.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND MY CAR STARTED LOSING POWER THEN STARTED JERKING AND SHAKING THE CAR. I COULDN'T SPEED UP, I COULD HEAR THE ENGINE REVVING UP BUT NOTHING. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND TURN OFF CAR AND START BACK UP, I STILL COULDN'T HIT 60MPH I THE FREEWAY SO I GOT OFF THE FREEWAY AND TOOK THE STREETS HOME. WHEN RUNNING THE CAR UNDER 30MPH THE CAR WAS FINE BUT ONCE I HIT THE HIGHER GEARS MY CAR WOULD SHAKE OR JUST DOWN SHIFT ON ITS ON.
THE SEATBELT ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IS NOT LOCKING INTO THE LATCH. IT IS NOT CLICKING INTO LATCH TO SADLY SECURE THE SEATBELT AROUND MY WAIST AND SHOULDER.
CAR SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL FROM DRIVE. HAPPENED WHILE I WAS EXITING STARBUCKS INTO TRAFFIC
NOT EVEN 1 MONTH OF PURCHASING THE JEEP I WAS DRIVING ON I 40 WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN THE JEEP SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL SO SHIFTED IT BACK INTO DRIVE AND TOOK IT STRAIGHT TO LARRY H MILLER AND THEY HAD IT FOR 3 DAYS I GOT IT BACK AND SINCE THAT DAY IT POPS INTO NEUTRAL AGAIN AT LEAST 5 MORE TIMES THIS TIME I WAS DRIVING IT ON A BUSINESS ROAD SO NOW I ALWAYS HAVE TO KEEP MY HAND ON THE SHIFTER JUST INASE IT HAPPENS AGAIN AND ALSO MY LIGHTS KEEP GOING DIM MY RADIO LIGHTS AND MY LIGHT IN THE WHOLE JEEP AND EVERY TIME APON ACCELERATION THE JEEP SEEMS LIKE IT SKIPS.
TRANSMISSION KEEPS JERKING - NO POWER TO ENGINE
THE CAR WILL TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING, THINKING THAT IT IS OUT OF GAS, WHEN IN ACTUALITY THE CAR HAS BETWEEN 3-4 BARS OF GAS LEFT. NO "LOW FUEL" WARNING LIGHT OR NOTIFICATION WILL APPEAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIMES IN THE PAST MONTH, ONCE WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE TRAVELING OUT OF TOWN & THE CAR LITERALLY STARTED SPUTTERING AND CUT COMPLETELY OFF AT 65 MPH ALMOST CAUSING A REAR END COLLISION WITH A SEMI. I HAVE TWO SMALL CHILDREN & I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AT ALL, ESPECIALLY WITH THEM IN THE CAR. I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN NOVEMBER 2018 & EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS LOW ON GAS, I WOULD RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION & THE LIGHT WOULD APPEAR. HOWEVER AS I STATED PREVIOUSLY ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AT 3-4 BARS OF GAS WITHOUT ANY NOTIFICATION WHATSOEVER.
INTERMITTENTLY, THE POWER STEERING WOULD GO OUT AND SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT WOULD COME ON DASHBOARD. AFTER SEVERAL TIMES RESTARTING THE CAR, THE CAR POWER STEERING WOULD CONTINUE TO GO OUT AND LIGHT COME ON. AFTER ABOUT 4 HOURS, THE CAR WAS TURNED OFF ON A CITY STREET, ALL RUNNING LIGHTS AND RADIO STAYED ON, KEYS WERE REMOVED, AND CAR WAS COMPLETELY UNRESPONSIVE TO KEYS, KEY FAB, OR BUTTONS ON DOOR SUCH AS POWER LOCKS/ WINDOWS. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE.
THE GEAR RANDOMLY KICKS IN DURING CITY AND HIGHWAY DRIVING (BELOW 80 MPH), STALLING OUT THE VEHICLE. *TR
AT TIMES, MY RADIO HAS TURNED OFF ON ITS OWN AND WHEN I'M ON THE PHONE IT WILL DISCONNECT FROM THE BLUETOOTH TO MY PHONE MULTIPLE TIMES DURING THE CALL. ANOTHER ISSUE I'M HAVING IS WHEN I AM DRIVING, IT HAS FALLEN DEAD ON ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND WON'T RESTART. IT'S HAPPENED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WHILE DRIVING. I'VE TRIED TURNING OFF MY LIGHTS, RADIO, A/C TO RESTART WITH NO LUCK. EACH TIME I'VE HAD TO GET TOWED HOME. I HAVE A STANDARD TRANSMISSION. EACH TIME IT'S HAPPENED, I'VE HAD FRESH OIL, GAS AND A GOOD BATTERY. LASTLY, SOMETIMES I'LL START SMELLING SOMETHING LIKE A BURNING SMELL AS IF SOMETHING IS HOT OR OVERHEATING, BUT I NEVER GET A MESSAGE ON MY DASH. IVE ALSO TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON AND I GOT IT NOV 2017.
TAKATA RECALL I WAS NOT ABLE TO SHIFT MY JEEP INTO PARK. I CAN NOT SHUT IT OFF. I WAS NOT ABLE TO GO TO MY JOB. I HAD TO LET IT RUN OUT OF GAS FOR IT TO SHUT OFF. BECAUSE OF THIS I LOST MY JOB. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO MAKE MY PAYMENT. PLEASE HELP.
TIRE PRESSURE SYSTEM NEEDS SERVICE, PARKING LIGHTS OUT, DAYTIME DRIVING LIGHTS OUT
WHEN DRIVING IF YOU HAVE TO ACCELERATE QUICKLY THE RENEGADE WILL ESSENTIALLY IDLE AND HESITATE BEFORE JERKING FORWARD. HAPPENS SPECIFICALLY WHEN HAVING TO CHANGE GEARS. HAS NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT NUMEROUS TIMES.
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE SHIFTS HARD AND JERKS OUT OF THE FIRST 1 TO 2 GEARS.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK. WHEN I GOT HOME AND PARKED MY CAR IT WAS IMMPOSSIBLE TO UNLATCH THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEATBELT. I WAS TRAPPED IN MY OWN VEHICLE. THE SITUATION FORCED ME TO SLIDE OUT BENEATH THE SEATBELT, ALMOST SLIPPED TO THE GARAGE FLOOR. I FEARED THAT IF IN ANY TYPE OF ENERGENCY LIKE A FIRE OR MUDSLIDES, ETC., I WOULD HAVE BEEN TRAPPED BY THE SEATBELT.

KEY STICKING IN IGNITION SWITCH. 2015 WITH LESS THAN 6000 MILES ON IT. STUCK ONCE DURING TEST DRIVE WITH SALESMAN ONBOARD. STUCK WHEN ANOTHER SALESMAN MOVED IT FOR PICTURE TAKING EVENT. LOST TRACK OF HOW MANY HOURS AND TRIPS TO THE DEALER TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION. TALKED TO OWNER,PREVIOUS OWNER,BUSINESS MANAGER,PARTS DEPT,HALF A DOZEN MECHANICS AND SHOP ASSOCIATES,AND EVEN GETTING BS FROM THE SHOP MANAGER. LAST TIME HE TOLD ME THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD NO SUCH ISSUE. I ASKED HIM IF HE WAS SUGGESTING I WAS A LIER! NO RESPONDS. AT THAT TIME
VEHICLE SHUT DOWN AFTER TAKING A LEFT TURN AND WHEN STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE VEHICLE: 2015 JEEP RENEGADE SPORT 2WD, HIGHWAY MILES MINIMAL STOP AND GO, MAINTENANCE IS ON TIME THROUGH THE DEALERSHIP, ZERO ACCIDENTS. I NOTICED A WHINING SOUND IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. THE TEMP IS TYPICALLY 198-201 THE TEMP CLIMBED TO 223 AT HIGHEST. WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION THE TEMP REVERTS TO 198. ARRIVED HOME, OPENED THE HOOD WHILE ENGINE WAS RUNNING TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE THE FAN MOTOR STARTED TO WHINE BUT NOT MOVE.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN APRIL 2018 WITH 15,000, ABOUT A MONTH AFTER DRIVING IT STARTED MAKING SQUEAKING NOISES WHEN I BRAKED, WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN THEY TOLD ME IT WAS FINE AND THAT IT WAS POSSIBLY A ROCK. IT DIDN'T STOP, SO I BROUGHT IT TO ANOTHER DEALER WHO COULDN'T FIND THE ISSUE, THEN I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM TO GET A TIRE KEY AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKES FOR FREE ONLY IT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN I BRAKE IT SOUNDS LIKE METAL IS CRUSHING TOGETHER, IT IS THE WORST SOUND AND IT IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE,SO I BROUGHT IT IN AGAIN, AND WHEN I BROUGHT IT IN THIS LAST TIME I MADE A SERVICE TECH GET IN THE CAR WITH ME AND HE AGREED THAT WAS NOT RIGHT AND THEN THE NEXT DAY HE CALLS ME AND SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG EVERYTHING LOOKS PERFECT. THEY THEN TELL ME THEY TEST DROVE THE OTHER RENEGADES IN THE LOT AND THEY ALL MAKE THE SAME SOUND WHEN YOU BRAKE, CLEARLY SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE.
SUN VISORS WILL NOT STAY UP ON BOTH SIDES.
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, CODE P0128, FAULTY THERMOSTAT. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM.
MY CAR DELAYS TO SHIFT. YOU CAN FEEL THIS GOING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE OR SIMPLY TRYING TO PICK UP SPEED ON ROADS WITH HIGH SPEED LIMITS. OR FROM PRESSING BRAKE TO PRESSING GAS. (NOT STEPPING ON GAS HARD) IT HAS JOLTED MANY TIMES MAKING IT FEEL AS THOUGH SOMEONE HIT THE BACK OF THE CAR. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING ISSUE. BUT WILL USE THE DATE WHEN MY CAR TURNED OFF BY ITSELF. MY CAR TURNED COMPLETELY OFF BY ITSELF WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
INITIAL TAKE OFF FROM A PARKED POSITION, THE TRANSMISSION JERKS HARD THROUGH GEARS 1-3 IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. COMING TO A STOP OR SLOWING DOWN IT KICKS HARD, OFTEN TIMES JERKING FORWARD AND NOT STOPPING. TURNING THE WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT, THERE IS A GRIND OR RUB WITHIN THE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS ARE PRESENT.
MY VEHICLE WILL STOP GOING DOWN THE ROAD AND TELL YOU TO SHIFT TO PARK. THEN WILL NOT CRANK FOR SEVERAL MINS AFTER THIS. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SEVERAL MONTHS.TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THEY UPDATED THE TRANSMISSION MODULE AND HERE WE ARE SEVERAL MONTHS LATER WITH THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND SOMEONE COULD BE KILLED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP RENEGADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT MOST OF THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, SUCH AS THE FUEL GAUGE, OIL CHANGE NEEDED, AND CHECK ENGINE. ALSO, THE CONTACT COULD NOT UNLOCK THE VEHICLE WITH THE KEY FOB. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO YOUNGBLOOD AUTO GROUP (3505 S CAMPBELL AVE, SPRINGFIELD, MO 65807) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
THE ENGINE COOLANT FAN KEEPS BURNING OUT, HAVING MY SECOND FAN REPLACED AT 62,000 MILES.
COLD CRANK VEHICLE WARMS UP FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES BEFORE DRIVING. THEN PUTS GEAR IN REVERSE AND THE TRANSMISSION KICKS VIOLENTLY. SHIFT IN TO DRIVE ACCELERATE LET GO OF GAS PEDAL AND THE TRANSMISSION KICKS AGAIN TO A LOWER GEAR. TRANSMISSION FEELS LIKE IT TAKE A WHILE TO CHANGE GEARS WHILE ACCELERATING
RADIATOR FAN IS MELTING FROM THE HEAT OF THE ENGINE. THIS ISSUE IS WIDESPREAD AND THERE ARE TONS OF VIDEOS ON THE INTERNET AND COMPLAINTS? THE REPLACEMENT HAS A HEAT SHIELD. SAD I HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE IT INSTALLED.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND DISABLED MY 4WD. ALL IT NEEDED WAS A THERMOSTAT. THEY TOLD ME ANYTIME THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON IT WILL DISABLE THE 4WD. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT TURNS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON IT WILL DISABLE THE 4WD. I TRIED GOING THROUGH THE DEALER, JEEP, FIAT, CHRYSLER. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IT WOULD DISABLE THE 4WD. I TOLD THEM I BOUGHT A JEEP FOR IT'S 4WD CAPABILITIES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT SHOULD ONLY DISABLE 4WD IF IT IS A DRIVE TRAIN PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME IF THE WEATHER WAS BAD I SHOULD STAY HOME. WHAT GOOD IS A 4WD IF YOU CAN'T DEPEND ON IT. JEEP IS RATED OFF-ROAD. I CAN'T FIND ANY HELP IN THIS MATTER. ALL IT NEEDS IS A CHANGE IN THE COMMAND MODULE.
CAR WAS SITTING IDLE WITH FAMILY IN IT AND AIR CONDITIONER ON. CAR BEGAN TO SMELL LIKE BURNING RUBBER AND COLD AIR TURNED WARM AND HUMID. RADIATOR FAN FAILED. BLEW 2 FUSES. NEEDS TO BE REPLCED AFTER ONLY 27000 MILES.
THERMOSTAT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND NEED REPLACING AND CAR HAS LESS THAN 54000 MILES ON IT..WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION.
THE VEHICLE SWITCHED GEARS ON ITS OWN, COULDN'T RECOGNIZE WHEN I TRIED TO PUT IT IN PARK OR ANY OTHER GEAR, AND STALLED OUT ON ME. NOW SHOWS THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDS TO BE SERVICED.
WON'T START - THEN STARTS. HAVE REPLACED BATTERY TWICE AND ABS MODULE. NO IMPROVEMENT DEALER HAS HAD A MONTH NOW WITH NO SOLUTION
MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE OWNING THIS VEHICLE THE PAST 7 MONTHS, I HAVE HAD TO GET 3 OIL CHANGES AND TOP OFF THE OIL MANY TIMES IN BETWEEN, WHICH IS MUCH MORE THAN THE MANUAL STATES IS NECESSARY. THIS VEHICLE BURNS THROUGH OR LOSES OIL TOO QUICKLY, WHICH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING (IN MOTION) WHICH IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. IT OFTEN TURNS OFF GOING UP OR DOWN HILL, AND AFTER OR MID TURN (WHAT LITTLE OIL IS REMAINING SHIFTS) ON CITY STREETS. MY CAR HAS TURNED OFF ITSELF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES. SOMETIMES IT TAKES A COUPLE MINUTES BEFORE IT WILL TURN ITSELF BACK ON. LIKE MENTIONED, THIS HAS OCCURRED MORE THAN A DOZEN TIMES SINCE MAY 2018 (PURCHASED VEHICLE IN MARCH 2018). BETWEEN 10/29 AND 10/31, IT OCCURRED 9 TIMES. IF NECESSARY, I HAVE DOCUMENTATION OF THE FREQUENCY OF SERVICE NEEDED.
INDICATOR LIGHT FOR RIGHT TURN SIGNAL OUT, LEFT TURN SIGNAL OUT, DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS OUT, BRAKE LIGHT OUT AND PARKING LIGHTS OUT CYCLED WHILE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION. ALL LIGHTS ARE WORKING PROPERLY. TURNED CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, ALL LIGHTS DISAPPEARED. RESEARCHED THAT OTHER RENEGADES HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE, BUT ONLY 2017 MODELS WERE RECALLED.
VEHICLE CUTS POWER WHILE TURNING AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE AT LOW SPEEDS, SUCH AS WHILE DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT AND MAKING A LEFT/RIGHT TURN, OR PULLING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY INTO TRAFFIC. SYMPTOMS ARE THAT THE VEHICLE STOPS ACCELERATING, LOSES POWER AND SLOWS TO A STOP FOR 5-10 SECONDS DESPITE HAVING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CONSISTENTLY PUSHED. I HAVE BEEN ALMOST HIT WHEN THIS OCCURS. IT POSSIBLY HAS TO DO WITH THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM TURNING ON INADVERTENTLY, SINCE IT OCCURS USUALLY WITH UNEVEN PAVEMENT. DEALERSHIP STATES THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND HAVE PERFORMED SEVERAL SOFTWARE UPDATES TO NO AVAIL. THIS IS THE FIAT 9 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION.
ON 2 OCCASIONS THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE WOULD NOT DEACTIVATE. AFTER NUMEROUS RESTARTS AND WAITING THE PARKING BRAKE RELEASED.ON BOTH OCCURRENCES THE PARKING BRAKE LEVER DID NOT RESPOND NOR DID PUTTING IT IN GEAR . THE JEEP RENEGADE IS A MANUAL SHIFT AND BOTH OF THESE OCCURRENCES THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A SHOPPING CENTER PARKING LOT.
BOUGHT MY JEEP BRAND NEW 2015 JEEP RENEGADE IN OCTOBER 7,2015. MY RADIATOR FAN IS NOT WORKING AND THE CAR IS STARTING TO OVER HEAT. AT FIRST KEPT HEARING A LOOSE DRAGGING NOISE BEFORE LEAVING TO THE STORE FROM MY HOUSE AND I POPED THE HOOD OPEN OF MY CAR AND I SAW THE FAN NOT WORKING TO COOL THE CAR DOWN WHEN THE TEMPERATURE OF THE CAR WAS GOING UP. SO I CALLED THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR MONDAY FOR THEM TO CHECK OUT THE CARS ISSUE. MY CAR ONLY HAS 31,000 MILES. I HAVE ALSO TAKEN MY JEEP TO THE DEALER THIS SAME YEAR FOR THEM TO REPLACE THE THERMOSTAT. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOW ON. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED IT'S NOT SAFE AND IT'S DANGEROUS FOR ANY VEHICLE TO OPERATE WITH ANY MALFUNCTION IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ESPECIALLY FOR A BRAND NEW CAR NOT EVEN 5 YEARS AND THE RADIATOR FAN IS ALREADY BROKEN.
AFTER STOPPING, THE TRANSMISSION HAS TROUBLE CATCHING ON. THE CAR JOLTS FORWARD AND IT DOESN'T FEEL SAFE AT ALL. IF I EVER BRING IT UP TO MY DEALER OR A MECHANIC, THEY SAY IT'S JUST A JEEP PROBLEM. THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO FIX IT. I'M WORRIED THERE MIGHT BE A BIGGER ISSUE WITH THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE HAD SEVERAL OF MY FRIENDS WHO ALSO OWN A RENEGADE HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
DAYTIME/PARK RUNNING LIGHT HAS BLOWN OUT 3-4 TIMES SINCE PURCHASING IT IN 2015. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND ALL THEY DO IS REPLACE THE BULB. I AM NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE BULBS CONTINUE TO BLOW OUT. I ONLY HAVE 75K MILES ON THIS TRUCK. NOT TO MENTION, I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL VEHICLES THROUGHOUT MY LIFE AND I HAVE NEVER HAD A CHANGE A LIGHT BULB OF ANY KIND ON ANY OF MY PREVIOUS VEHICLES LIKE I DO WITH THE RENEGADE. SERIOUSLY THINKING ABOUT TRADING THIS IN FOR A TOTALLY DIFFERENT BRAND OF VEHICLES ALTOGETHER.
JEEP IS BURNING OIL AND COOLANT BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. NEED TO ADD OIL AT LEAST EVERY 2 TO 3 WEEK AND COOLANT MONTHLY. NO WARNING LIGHTS HAVE EVER COME ON INDICATION THE VEHICLE IS LOW, IT HAS NOT OVER HEATED. HAVE FOUND JEEP TO BE UPTO 3 QUARTS LOW ON OIL AND NO COOLANT IN RESERVOIR. NO SIGNS OF LEAKING OF ANY KIND. HAVE NOTICED A DISTINCT SMELL OF BURNT OIL AFTER LONG DRIVES. WHEN ADDING OIL AND COOLANT TODAY I FOUND A PINK FROTHY RESIDUE ON ALL THE HOUSE JOINTS FOR THE COOLANT. WHY AM I NOT GETTING ANY WARNING LIGHTS AND WHERE ARE THESE FLUIDS GOING TO. THERE IS DISTINCT METAL SOUND WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING NOW. I ADDRESSED THE OIL ISSUE WITH THE DEAL THE LAST TIME IT WAS IN AND I WAS TOLD I JUST NEED TO ADD OIL PERIODICALLY THAT "ALL VEHICLES" PERIODICALLY NEED OIL. I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE WITH ANY OTHER VEHICLE I OWNED.
I BOUGHT MY 2015 JEEP RENEGADE BRAND NEW IN SEPTEMBER 2015 AND BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS RIGHT AWAY. THERE'S A POWER ISSUE WHERE THE CAR WILL JUST SHUT OFF AND LOSE POWER AND THE KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. I HAVE HAD IT JUMPED SEVERAL TIMES JUST TO GET IT MOVING AGAIN. TOOK THE CAR TO SEVERAL AUTO ZONES TO TEST OUT THE BATTERY JUST TO SEE IF I WOULD GET A DIFFERENT RESPONSE BUT EACH CONFIRMED THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE BATTERY. IT EITHER COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF OR STOPS PICKING UP SPEED IN THE MIDDLE OF BUSY HOUSTON TRAFFIC. YOU CAN FEEL WHEN IT SWITCH GEARS SOMETIMES, IT MAKES THIS HARD AND LOUD POPPING NOISE WHEN IT'S TRYING TO SWITCH GEARS. IT'S ALWAYS DONE THAT. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS IF I'M AT A SLOWER DRIVING SPEED, LIKE TURNING AT A LIGHT, AND THEN ACCELERATE TO PICK UP SPEED, IT EITHER MAKES THAT LOUD POPPING SOUND, OR STRUGGLES TO PICK UP SPEED AND EVENTUALLY STALLS AND/OR LOSE POWER. IT'S REAL SCARY. I'VE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT IT AND HAVE HAD IT CHECKED OUT MANY TIMES BUT NO ONE CAN TELL ME WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. I HAVE BEEN MONITORING THE RECALLS AND HAVE BEEN SEEING NUMEROUS CASES FROM PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE I'M HAVING BUT SOMEHOW MY VIN ISN'T ASSOCIATED WITH ANY RECALLS.
I WENT OUT TO PICK UP DINNER.I LEFT THE VEHICLE RUNNING WHEN I WENT INTO THE RESTAURANT, CAME OUT TWO MINUTES LATER AND NOTICED A REALLY WEIRD RATTLING/REVVING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I POPPED THE HOOD AND THE WHOLE RADIATOR FAN AND HOUSING WAS WOBBLING AND HAD A TERRIBLE ELECTRICAL FIRE SMELL. I WAS THANKFULLY ABLE TO GET HOME,WHICH WAS ONLY FIVE MINUTES AWAY, BUT AS SOON AS I GOT IN THE DRIVEWAY THE MESSAGE "SERVICE ENGINE" CAME ONTO THE SCREEN.I POPPED THE HOOD AGAIN AND THE FAN LOCKED UP AND IS NO LONGER SPINNING. I SEE I'M NOT THE FIRST WITH THIS ISSUE...CAN WE PLEASE GET A RECALL?THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.
