ENGINE COOLING RAN MAKING SCREECHING NOISE AND WOBBLING ON SHAFT. SOUNDS LIKE THE FAN IS CONTACTING SOMETHING.
VEHICLE SHIFTS VERY HARD. WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE JUMPS FORWARD AND SIMILARLY JUMPS BACK ON REVERSE. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN A PARKING LOT WENT FROM PARK TO REVERSE AND APPLIED A SLIGHT AMOUNT OF GAS, VEHICLE SHOT BACKWARDS CAUSING ME TO SHARPLY TURN THE WHEEL TO AVOID A COLLISION. SIMILARLY, WHEN FIRST PLACING VEHICLE IN DRIVE GOING AROUND 15 MILES AN HOUR VEHICLE WILL JUMP FORWARD NOTICABLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP RENEGADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THREE WEEKS LATER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. ADDITIONALLY, THE SHIFTER WOULD NOT ENGAGE OUT OF PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO PISCHKE MOTORS OF LA CROSSE (434 4TH ST, LA CROSSE, WI 54601) THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
THE DRIVE TRAIN FAILED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. A NOISE OCCURRED (LIKE A CLICK) WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY (ROUGHLY 50 MPH) AND A WARNING APPEARED ON THE SCREEN TO SERVICE THE TRANSMISSION IMMEDIATELY. THE TRANSMISSION BECAME UNRESPONSIVE FOR 2 MINUTES. I COULD PRESS THE GAS AND THE ENGINE WOULD REV BUT NO FORWARD MOVEMENT OCCURRED. ANOTHER CLICK OCCURRED AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD BUT THE CAR WAS STUCK IN 2ND GEAR. AFTER 30 MINUTES OF IDLING ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THE TRANSMISSION WAS THEN AGAIN FULLY RESPONSIVE.
TRANSMISSION DID NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR AFTER MAKING A TURN AND RETURNING TO THE GAS PEDAL , DID NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR GOING UP A HILL, SOUDING LIKE IT WENT INTO DOWNHILL ASSIST ON FLAT GROUND, ROLLS BACKWARDS AFTER PARKED OR CLUNKS WHEN GOING INOT REVERSE ALSO SLAMS INTO FIRST AT TIME AFTER TAKE OFF . HEATED SEATS TURN DOEN OR OFF AFTER 25 MIN, HEATING STEARING LIGHT WILL BE ON AND WHEEL IS COLD, RADIO CHAMGES CHHANELLS OR VOLUME WHEN CONTROLS ARENT BEING USED, REMOTE START DOESNT ALWAYS WORK CAR HAS BEEN TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR REPAIR AND STILL NOT FIXED AND HAVE NOT RETURNED MY CALLS TO BRING IT BACK NOW AT 36500 MILES SINCE THEY HAVE NOT CALLED BACK. PROBLEMS STARTED AROUND 6000 MILE MARK
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP RENEGADE. THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DISPLAYED 34 DEGREES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. BUT THE ACTUAL TEMPERATURE WAS 21 DEGREES ON THE WEATHER CHANNEL APP. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KOONS TYSONS CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (2050 CHAIN BRIDGE RD, VIENNA, VA 22182, (703) 790-0900) FOR REPAIRS. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER FOR ASSISTANCE AND WAS INFORMED THAT JEEP WAS OPERATING WITHIN THE DESIGN PARAMETERS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,748. *TT THE CONSUMER STATED THE VIN IN SHORT WHEN CHARACTER NOTE PROVIDED WHEN CAR WAS PURCHASED BUT STATED IT IS THE CORRECT VIN. *TR
RADIATOR FAN MAKES RATTLING SOUND WHILE STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING. VERY LOUD AND CAUSES CAR TO OVERHEAT WHEN RAN FOR ANY EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME.
THE ROTORS WEAR OUT BUT THE BRAKE PADS ARE STILL GOOD IT HAS ALREADY WORE OUT 2 SETS THE BRAKES GRAB AND STICK IT JERKS YOU HARD RIGHT OR LEFT.WE CANT GET THE COMPANY TO DO ANYTHING THEY ACT LIKE ITS OUR FAULT. ALSO IT SWAYS REALLY BAD IN THE REAR END FEELS LIKE YOUR RIDING A OLD MULE HOBBITY-HOE.ALSO THE TRANSMISSION HAS A DELAY IN SHIFT &SHIFTS REALLY HARD.THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES. WE ARE GOING TO GET HURT IN THIS VEHICLE AND CAN'T GET ANY HELP.
THE JEEP HAS BEEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER 3 TIME FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE RENEGADE WHEN REACHING SPEEDS OF APPROXIMATELY 30 MILES PER HOUR PRODUCES THE SAME SOUND AS RUNNING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS. THE SOUND CAN GET VERY LOUD MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO HEAR WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE SURROUNDINGS (HORN, SIREN, ETC). THE AUTHORIZED JEEP SERVICE STATION HAS BEEN UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM BUT ACKNOWLEDGES THEY CAN HEAR THE SOUND. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN REPORTED ON SEVERAL JEEP RENEGADE FORUMS, STATING THE WARRANTIED DIFFERENTIAL WAS REQUIRED TO BE REPLACED, THEY DEEMED THIS 'NOT NECESSARILY THE PROBLEM'.FCA HAS BEEN INFORMED OF THIS ISSUE AND SEEMS TO THINK IT POSES NO SAFETY CONCERN. THIS IS A 9 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP RENEGADE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT WOULD AUTOMALICLLY SHIFT IN SPORT MODE WHILE DRIVING, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SLOW DOWN. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO PLACE THE VEHICLE BACK IN GEAR. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE AIR BAG AND OTHER UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER (CRISWELL CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM FIAT (84 BUREAU DR, GAITHERSBURG, MD 20878 (240) 252-2592). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER, BUT NO FAILURES WERE FOUND. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,524.
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP INTO TRAFFIC THE CAR WILL NOT ALWAYS ACCELERATE. THE ENGINE REVS BUT IT'S LIKE IT'S NOT IN THE CORRECT GEAR. YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS AND LET IT REGROUP AND TRY AGAIN. OTHER TIMES IT WILL DO THE EXACT OPPOSITE AND SURGE AHEAD. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. NUMEROUS SOFTWARE UPDATES FOR THE 9-SPEED TRANSMISSION HAVE DONE NOTHING TO HELP.
TAKATA RECALL THERE ARE MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS OCCURRING WITH THE VEHICLE, ALONG WITH MECHANICAL PROBLEMS AND THE CAR IS USED TO COMMUTE TO WORK AND HOME. THESE ISSUES HAVE NEVER OCCURRED WITH ANY OTHER NEW CAR WE HAVE PURCHASED FROM A LOT. I FEEL UNSAFE DRIVING THE CAR WITH MY FAMILY UNSURE OF WHAT OTHER PROBLEM MAY OCCUR.
WHEN TRANSITIONING FROM A STOP INTO TRAFFIC ON A DIRT OR SLIPPERY ROAD THE TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS COME ON BUT THE CAR SENDS NO POWER TO THE ANY OF THE 4 WHEELS. IT JUST STOPS. IN ORDER TO GO YOU HAVE TO TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS AND TRY AGAIN TO MOVE. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS WHEN PULLING INTO TRAFFIC.
THE VEHICLE HAS STARTED SHIFTING REALLY HARD AND HESITATES AT TIMES WHEN NEED TO TAKE OFF QUICKLY FOR EXAMPLE TURNING LEFT WITH ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND IT HESITATES BEFORE SHIFTING WHICH IS DANGEROUS. I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER TWICE WITHIN 2 WEEKS. THE FIRST TIME THEY SAID IT WAS UPDATE RELATED AND THEY UPDATED AND RESET EVERYTHING. IT IS JUST AS BAD OR WORSE NOW AND AFTER THE SECOND TIME THEY STATED THEY CAN FEEL THE ISSUE WHEN THEY ARE DRIVING IT BUT BECAUSE THE COMPUTER SHOWS NOTHING WRONG THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. SO I WILL BE DRIVING THE JEEP UNTIL IT CAUSES AN ACCIDENT. THE DEALER SAYS IT NEEDS A NEW TRANSMISSION BUT HAVE TO HAVE MORE WARNINGS/ALERTS OR AN INCIDENT BEFORE CHRYSLER WILL APPROVE IT. THEY ALSO STATED THIS IS NORMAL ACTIVITY FOR THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE AND THAT IT "WORKS" BETTER AFTER IT WARMS UP A LITTLE. I HAVE HAD THE JEEP FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS AND THE LAST COUPLE OF WEEKS IS THE ONLY TIME I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE.
DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED CLUTCH FAILURE AT 28K MILES. CAR WAS OPERATING COMPLETELY NORMAL AND THE CLUTCH FAILED ON HIGHWAY WHILE THE CAR WAS IN DRIVING IN 5TH GEAR. CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE OR GO IN REVERSE IN ANY GEAR. THIS IS ANOTHER IN A SERIES OF ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. ELECTRIC ISSUES AND A/C ISSUES IN 2016. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP 3 SEPARATE TIMES TO RESOLVE ISSUE.
WHEN TURNING OR VEERING AT SEMI-LOW RATES OF SPEED (15-35 MPH), TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT FLASHES REPEATEDLY AND ALL POWER TO ACCELERATOR IS LOST FOR ABOUT 5-10 SECONDS. THIS HAS REPEATEDLY PUT ME IN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. DESPITE TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND FINDING MANY OTHERS HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE, DEALER CLAIMS NOTHING IS WRONG AND SAID PROBLEM WAS FIXED AFTER A REFRESH UPDATE FOR BOTH COMPUTER SYSTEMS. IT IS DEFINITELY NOT FIXED AS IT HAPPENED TODAY AND I WAS ALMOST T-BONED IN AN INTERSECTION. ONLY HAS 23,120 MILES ON IT AND STILL UNDER JEEP WARRANTY. THIS BEGAN A MONTH AFTER PURCHASE.
THIS 2015 JEEP RENEGADE BEGAN HAVING A THUMPING NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. AFTER SEEING THAT IT WAS THE COOLING FAN, I TOOK MEASURES TO GET THE CAR TO THE DEALER TO GET IT REPAIRED. BEFORE THAT HAPPENED, THE FAN WENT OUT COMPLETELY. THE VEHICLE IS 2 YEARS OLD, HAS 41, 000 MILES ON IT AND IS STILL COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I WAS TOLD BY SOUTHPOINT CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP (WHO I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM) THAT THEY CANNOT OBTAIN THE PART, AND THEY REFUSED TO OPEN A CLAIM WITH THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY SO THAT I COULD GET A RENTAL CAR. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY WILL NOT PROVIDE ME WITH A RENTAL CAR BECAUSE THE DEALER WILL NOT START THE CLAIM PROCESS. RIGHT NOW MY JEEP IS AT THE DEALER, WHO WAS HAPPY TO INFORM ME THAT IF I DROVE IT OFF THE LOT AND IT OVERHEATED, MY 100,000 MILE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY WOULD BE VOID. AFTER CONTACTING FIAT CHRYSLER, I STILL HAVE NOT OBTAINED ANY KIND OF RELIEF. I HAVE A $25,000 CAR THAT IS BASICALLY A BRICK. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT IS WORTHLESS. THE ADMINISTRATORS OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY CONTRACT ACTUALLY SUGGESTED USING AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT PARTS, WHICH WOULD VOID MY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. THE COOLING FAN ISSUE IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2.4 LITER TIGERSHARK ENGINE.SOME OWNERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THEIR CARS CATCHING ON FIRE WHEN THE FAN MELTS. FIAT CHRYSLER KNOWS IT IS A PROBLEM, YET THOUSANDS OF THESE TIGERSHARK EQUIPPED CARS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE BUT THEY ARE AVOIDING RESPONSIBILITY.
TWICE NOW MY ENGINE COOLING FAN MOTOR HAS FAILED AND CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT. I WAS LUCKY THE FIRST TIME IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. THIS TIME MY CAR WAS PARKED IDLING ABOUT 5 MINUTES WITH SLEEPING CHILDREN WHEN THE CAB FILLED WITH SMOKE AND WOKE THE ADULT. WAKE UP CHRYSLER! ..UPDATED 12/11/17 *BF
COOLING FAN IS BAD. HOUSING COMES LOOSE AND FAN HITS OTHER PARTS ON THE VEHICLE CAUSING IT TO OVERHEAT AND SMOKE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NO RECALL! HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE PART HAS BEEN ON BACK ORDER FOR MONTHS! NOW VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY.
TWICE IN TWO WEEKS, WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE HAS SHUT OFF. THE FIRST TIME IS HAPPENED WAS ON OCTOBER 29TH, 2017 AND THE NEXT TIME WAS THIS MORNING NOVEMBER 9TH. THE FIRST TIME HAPPENED ON A CITY STREET WHILE SLOWING DOWN TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN, AND THE OTHER HAPPENED WITH THE FOOT ON THE GAS TRYING TO MERGE ONTO I-90 FROM THE OGDEN ON RAMP. THE RADIO AND INTERIOR ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS CONTINUE TO WORK, BUT THE ENGINE HAS SHUT OFF. TURNING THE KEY WON'T JUST TURN ON THE CAR AGAIN. YOU HAVE TO HOLD IT IN THE ON POSITION A FEW TIMES FOR IT TO FINALLY TURN ON.
THE COOLING FAN HAS COME LOOSE AND APPEARS TO BE NEAR FAILURE, WHICH HAS PREVENTED ME FROM OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS ONLY TWO YEARS OLD WITH 27,000 MILES AND APPEARS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL; THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING IN A VEHICLE THIS NEW!
THE COOLING FAN "BURNED OUT" ON MY 2015 JEEP RENEGADE. ON NOVEMBER 4, 2017, I WAS TRAVELING I10 E BOUND FROM HOUSTON, TX TO RAYNE, LA (3 HR DRIVE) TO ATTEND MY YOUNGER BROTHER'S WEDDING WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CAR RAN HOT. LUCKILY FOR ME I WAS AT THE EXIT RAMP TO GET TO MY PARENT'S HOUSE WHEN IT HAPPENED. I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND I SAW, AND SMELLED SMOKE. I THEN CALLED MY DAD (WHO LITERALLY LIVES A MINUTE OR LESS FROM WHERE I WAS) FOR HIM TO COME AND CHECK OUT WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. HE LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD, FLUIDS WERE ALL IN TACT, NOTHING SEEMED OUT OF PLACE, HE BASICALLY COULDN'T SEE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. HE THEN STARTED THE CAR AND WATCHED THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE AND NOTICED THAT IT HADN'T SPIKED UP SO HE DROVE IT OFF THE EXIT AND HOME. THE CAR SAT ALL NIGHT AND WASN'T DRIVEN AGAIN UNTIL THE NEXT DAY WHEN MY DAD DROVE IT TO ADVANCED AUTO. THE EMPLOYEE CONNECTED THE MACHINE TO CHECK FOR ERRORS BUT NOTHING CAME BACK. MY DAD STARTED THE ENGINE AGAIN, LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND NOTICED THAT THE FAN WASN'T SPINNING. HE CHECKED THE FUSE FOR THE FAN, NOTICED THE METAL PIECE INSIDE HAD SPLIT, SO WE BOUGHT ANOTHER FUSE. PUT THE FUSE IN, STARTED THE ENGINE AND A SECOND LATER THE FUSE POPPED AND SMOKE APPEARED. I'VE CALLED SEVERAL CDJR PLACES BETWEEN LOUISIANA AND TEXAS AND THEY'RE ALL TELLING ME THAT IT'LL TAKE UP TO 4 MONTHS BEFORE THE PART COMES IN AND GET FIXED BECAUSE IT IS ON BACK ORDER. IT IS FRUSTRATING FOR ME BECAUSE THIS IS MY ONLY SOURCE OF TRANSPORTATION. OBVIOUSLY THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL IF THIS MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE SINCE I CAN'T GET IT FIXED WITHIN THE NEXT 4 MONTHS AND I'VE BEEN QUOTED $600+ TO GET IT FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP RENEGADE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE SUDDENLY INCREASED TO HIGH. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND HAD IT TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLING FAN WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
ON OCTOBER 12TH THE CAR STARTED MAKING AN ODD NOISE DRIVING IN THE CITY (NEVER OFF ROAD). I DIDN'T DRIVE IT AGAIN UNTIL OCTOBER 14TH AND IT WAS MAKING THE NOISE AGAIN. WE WERE TRYING TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THE CAR STARTED SMOKING NEAR THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND WE DRIVE IT TO MY MECHANIC. HE SAID THE FAN HAD STOPPED WORKING. WE CALLED THE ARRIGO DEALERSHIP IN FORT PIERCE WHO SAID I NEED A FAN ASSEMBLY UNIT AND NEEDED TO PAY $263 UPFRONT. THE PART IS ON BACKORDER AND SHOULD TAKE 1-2 MONTHS BUT MAY BE LONGER. ONCE IT IS DELIVERED IT WOULD COST $260 FOR LABOR. SINCE MY CAR HAS 49,000 MILES ON IT AND THE WARRANTY ENDED AT 36,000 THE REPAIR ISN'T COVERED AND NO LOANER CAR WILL BE PROVIDED. ALSO, DO NOT DRIVE THE CAR TO PREVENT ENGINE DAMAGE. WHAT? SO MY MECHANIC CALLED AROUND TO FIND THE PART ELSEWHERE. HE SPOKE TO SCHUMACHER JEEP AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID IT IS A KNOW ISSUE AND ASKED MY MECHANIC IF HE WOULD LIKE TO BE PUT ON THE WAITING LIST. WHEN HE ASKED HOW LONG THE WAITING LIST IS, THE GENTLEMAN REPLIED THERE ARE APPROX 4700 PARTS REQUEST BEFORE US AND THERE IS NO ETA AT THIS TIME IT COULD BE 1-4 MONTHS. THIS IS UTTERLY RIDICULOUS. WHEN I SEARCH THE NET, THERE ARE SOOOOOOOO MANY SIMILAR ISSUES AND JEEP IS SAYING THIS IS NOT A RECALL. HAVE YOU SEEN THIS SITE? I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, SPEEDING UP TO REACH THE 70 MPH SPEED LIMIT, WHEN SUDDENLY MY CAR STALLED OUT AND BEGAN DECELERATING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE WARNING "SERVICE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL " FLASHED ACROSS THE SCREEN. THE CAR CONTINUED TO DECELERATE SO I PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE CAR.
THE RADIATOR FAN HAS GONE OUT FOR THE THIRD TIME AND THE PART IS ON NATIONAL RECALL. THE FAN WAS FIRST REPLACED AT ABOUT 38,000 MILES AFTER FAILING. THE PART FAILED AGAIN AT ABOUT 67,000 MILES. I TOOK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND, AFTER SEVERAL DAYS, WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACKORDER AND THAT THEY COULD NOT GUARANTEE THAT I WOULD RECEIVE A PART IN THE NEXT SHIPMENT IN ABOUT A WEEK AND THEY DID NOT KNOW WHEN MORE WOULD BE AVAILABLE. THIS IS MY ONLY CAR. I FOUND A UNIVERSAL FAN THAT WAS COMPATIBLE AND HAD IT INSTALLED IN EARLY SEPTEMBER. YESTERDAY, THE FAN FAILED AGAIN AND WIRING LEADING TO FAN HAS MELTED. PARTS ARE STILL ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. THE FIRST TIME THE PART FAILED (PREVIOUS REPORT FILED), I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 35 MPH. THE SECOND TIME WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE THIRD TIME, THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND IDLING AND HAD BEEN FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES.
TRANSMISSION ISSUES - HESITATION AT ACCELERATION & SURGING OR HARD SHIFTS
THE 9-SPEED TRANSMISSION ON MY 2015 JEEP RENEGADE SLIPS OUT OF GEAR AND SLIPS INTO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN. IT ALSO DOESN'T SHIFT DOWN INTO LOWER GEARS QUICKLY ENOUGH WHEN NEEDING A BURST OF SPEED TO GET OUT OF THE WAY OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. THIS ISSUE HAS SLOWLY BEEN GETTING WORSE OVER THE PAST YEAR. THIS ISSUE TYPICALLY ARISES WHEN DRIVING IN THE CITY AND NEEDING TO MAKE LEFT TURNS QUICKLY, IT ALSO HAPPENS WHEN SLOWING DOWN AT A RED LIGHT AND THE LIGHT TURNS GREEN AND YOU STEP ON THE GAS.
WHEN I'M DRIVING MY VEHICLE WILL NOT SPEED UP. I PRESS ON THE GAS AND IT KEEPS GOING AT THE SAME SPEED. WHEN I BRAKE IT PULLS, LIKE IF I WAS REPEATEDLY PRESSING AND LETTING GO OF THE BRAKES. THE WHEELS HAVE WORN OUT TWICE, HAVING HAD NEW CARS BEFORE AND DRIVING THE SAME ROADS AND DISTANCE I KNOW THIS IS NOT NORMAL. I HAVE FIXED MY BREAKS ONCE WICH IS UNUSUAL FOR HOW NEW THIS CAR IS AND NOW MY BREAKS ARE MAKING SQUEAKING NOISE.

THERE IS A BACK ORDER ON THE REPLACEMENT FAN AND IT IS APPARENTLY A COMMON PROBLEM FROM WHAT WE WERE TOLD. WE HAVE ABOUT 34,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE.
AUDIBLE RADIATOR FAN WOBBLE NOTICED 9/22/17. OPENED HOOD TO SEE FAN CLEARLY OUT OF BALANCE/WOBBLING VIOLENTLY IN HOUSING. FAN STOPPED FUNCTIONING 9/24, SPIKING COOLANT TEMPERATURES AND TRIGGERING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. CODE READ AS P0481 OBD-II TROUBLE CODE: COOLING FAN 2 CONTROL CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION. REPLACED RELAY AND CHECKED WIRE CONNECTIONS TO VERIFY ISSUE LIES WITH FAN. ISSUE SPANS ACROSS 2015-2016 RENEGADES, PARTS ON BACKORDER WITH 4000-7000 WAITING NATIONWIDE, NOT AN ISOLATED INSTANCE.

CHRYSLER STATES TRANSMISSION RUNS AS DESIGNED. THE ONLY WAY TO NOT FEEL THE LAG IS TO GUN THE GAS FROM A STOP. TAKEN VEHICLE IN TWICE, FIRST TOLD A SERVICE BULLETIN WAS ISSUED FOR THE PROBLEM, SAID COMPUTER SOFTWARE NEEDED UPDATE. DIDN'T WORK, AS SOON AS I PULLED OUT OF DEALERSHIP, PROBLEM REMAINS. SECOND TRIP, THEY SAID THEY CAN DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS BECAUSE OF NO-CODES. (SAME PROBLEM IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET FROM OTHER CONSUMERS)

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE UNDER CASE NUMBER: 32348701 AND STATED THAT THEY WERE AWAITING ON THE DEALER INFORMATION TO DETERMINE WHAT THEY WOULD DO AND THEN THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT HIM BACK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 47,000.
WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT, SMOKE BEGAN TO COME OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER AS SOON AS CAME TO A PARKING LOT. THE RADIATOR COOLING FAN HAD MELTED AND WAS SMOKING. THE VEHICLE HAS 40,813 MILES ON IT, AND THIS IS COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE ISSUE IS THAT THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE FROM THE MANUFACTURE. THE DEALER HAS ANOTHER ONE JUST LIKE MINE THAT HAS BEEN THERE FOR OVER A MONTH FOR THE SAME ISSUE.

I WAS DRIVING AND STARTED TO SMELL BURN RUBBER. THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE SHOP. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE RADIATOR FAN ASSEMBLY SEIZED UP AND WILL NOT ROTATE ANY LONGER. APPARENTLY, THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH RENEGADES AND THE PARTS ARE ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER. NO ETA WAS GIVEN FOR WHEN THERE WOULD BE PARTS AVAILABLE.
THE FAN ASSEMBLY (68360299AA) IN THE FRONT OF MY ENGINE STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE. THIS CAUSES A CHAIN REACTION THAT KILLED MY RESISTOR (68247207AA) AND RELAY (4727370AA). WITHOUT THESE PARTS OPERATING, MY ENGINE QUICKLY OVERHEATS. AFTER TAKING MY RENEGADE TO THE DEALERSHIP I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAN ASSEMBLY IS ON BACK ORDER UNTIL DECEMBER 2017 AND THEY DO NOT HAVE AN ETA.
THE RADIATOR FAN IS MESSING UP. MOVING AROUND IN THE ENGINE AND NOT WORKING MOST OF THE TIME. THE TEMPS IN THE ENGINE ARE GOING HIGHER THAN THEY SHOULD BEUCASE THE FAN IS FAILING.
THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT BUT RUNNING. THE AC STOPPED BLOWING COLD AIR. I TURNED THE AC OFF AND BACK ON AND THE COLD AIR WASN'T WORKING. I THEN SMELLED A BURNING SMELL. THAT'S WHEN I NOTICED THE VEHICLE WAS STARTING TO OVERHEAT. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY. TWO DAYS LATER THEY IDENTIFIED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE FAN MODULE AND THAT THE PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND IT MIGHT BE A WEEK, MONTH(S) BEFORE THE PART CAME IN. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS HAPPENING A LOT WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE. THE FOLKS THAT SPOKE WITH ME HAVE BE FRIENDLY BUT THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IF THE JEEP RENEGADES ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. IT'S NOT SAFE AND REALLY INCONVENIENT, ESPECIALLY WHEN YOUR A SINGLE VEHICLE FAMILY.
AT JUST UNDER 48K MILES, RADIATOR FAN GAVE OUT. UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS ON A CITY STREET, THE AC BEGAN TO BLOW OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE AIR AND SERVICE ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. TROUBLESHOOTING THE FOLLOWING DAY REVEALED THAT THE FAN WAS NO LONGER WORKING AND ENGINE RISKED OVERHEATING. SEEMS TO BE A CONTINUOUSLY REOCCURRING ISSUE SINCE THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER FOR 4 MONTHS FOR THE 2.4L 9-SPEED RENEGADE.
THE RADIATOR COOLING FAN IS DEFECTIVE. THE MOTOR IS BURNT OUT. WHILE DRIVING THE FAN STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD NOISE AND I BEGAN TO SMELL SMOKE FROM THE VENT. THE COOLING FAN WILL NO LONGER TURN ON TO COOL THE ENGINE RISKING THE ENGINE OVERHEATING AND DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. THE TROUBLE CODE IS P0481. CHRYSLER HAS STATED THE COOLING FAN IS ON BACK ORDER. THIS HAS BECOME AN ISSUE FOR RENEGADE OWNERS. YOU CAN SIMPLY TYPE IN 'RADIATOR COOLING FAN' IN THE RENEGADE FORUMS AND YOU WILL SEE THAT MANY OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THIS ISSUE AND MULTIPLE DEALERS HAVE STATED THE FANS ARE ON BACK ORDER. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. THANK YOU.
RADIATOR FAN SHORTS OUT CAUSING A POSSIBLE FIRE RISK. MECHANICAL BURNING SMELL FILLED THE CAR .
I WAS DRIVING MY JEEP RENEGADE WHEN IT STARTED TO MAKE A LOUD CLANKY NOISE. I IMMEDIATELY DROVE IT TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP SINCE I WAS VERY NEAR ONE AND IMMEDIATELY A SERVICE TECHNICIAN SAID TO TURN CAR OFF BECAUSE IT WAS GOING TO OVER HEAT. I WAS TOLD IT IS THE RADIATOR COOLING FAN THAT IS BAD. THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN THE VEHICLE WILL BE ABLE TO FIXED SINCE THE PART IS SEVERELY BACKORDERED SINCE THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM OCCURRING WITH SIMILAR JEEP VEHICLES. I ASKED IF THIS IS SUCH A COMMON PROBLEM WHY THERE ISN'T A RECALL. I READ MANY COMPLAINTS IN JEEP FORUMS AND BLOGS OF PEOPLE HAVING SAME PROBLEM AND CARS ACTUALLY OVERHEATING AND ALMOST CATCHING ON FIRE. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION TO BE IN. MY CAR IS SITTING AT THE DEALER WITH AN UNKNOWN TIMELINE TO GET FIXED AND COMING OUT OF POCKET FOR A RENTAL. UNACCEPTABLE TO BE PUT IN THIS KIND OF RISK IF IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM. RECALL NEEDS TO BE INITIATED.
