TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP RENEGADE. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND A BURNING ODOR WAS DETECTED IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BRENNAN DODGE (1371 NORTH SERVICE RD E, RUSTON, LA 71270 (318) 497-4203) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE COOLING FAN MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD NOT BE DRIVEN AND THE PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL OCTOBER. THE DEALER FURTHER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS REPLACING 600 COOLING FAN MODULES WEEKLY NATIONWIDE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA, STATING THAT NHTSA WOULD HAVE TO ISSUE A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. WHILE ACCELERATING TO PULL OUT OF A FULL STOP AT A STOP SIGN INTERSECTION I PRESSED THE GAS BUT THE CAR DIDN'T MOVE. IT FELT LIKE IT WAS ALMOST IN NEUTRAL OR HAD STALLED COMPLETELY. AFTER DOUBLE CHECKING THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND CHECKING MY DASHBOARD FOR ERRORS, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND THEN SHIFTED BACK TO DRIVE AND IT BEGAN MOVING FINELY WITH THE GAS PEDAL. THE EVENT WAS SCARY HOWEVER BECAUSE FOR THAT MOMENT AS I WAS PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL WHILE THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE, THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE AT ALL. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DANGEROUS HAD I BEEN ON A BUSIER ROAD. THE CAR HAD BEEN TURNED ON AND RUNNING FOR 2 MINUTES PRIOR TO THIS EVENT OCCURRING. I WAS PULLING OUT OF A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT.
MY JEEP RENEGADE OVERHEATED AND BROKE DOWN ON 8-1-17, MORE THAN 4 HOURS FROM OUR HOME. WE HAD TO GET THE JEEP BACK TO WHERE WE LIVED AND THE DEALER LET US KNOW IT WAS THE COOLANT FAN. THEY LET US KNOW IT WAS ON A MAJOR BACK ORDER AND THERE WAS NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR THIS TO BE RECTIFIED. WE ARE NOW IN SEPTEMBER AND STILL NO PARTS TO FIX MY JEEP THAT I AM PAYING A PAYMENT FOR AND IS UNDER WARRANTY. JEEPS SHOULD RECALL THIS PART AND HONOR THEIR WARRANTIES AND MAKE GOOD ON THESE CAR NOTES.
VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY ACCELERATE WITHOUT ANY INPUT FROM THE GAS PEDAL. THIS CAN VARY FROM A SHORT BURST OF SPEED AND A SPUDUR TO A LONG TERM ACCELERATION THAT ONLY STOPS WHEN APPLYING THE BREAK. EVEN WHEN STATIONARY THE VEHICLE WILL RAISE RPMS CONSIDERABLY WANTING TO LURCH FORWARD IF NOT IN PARK. THIS ISSUE BEGAN TO BE NOTICEABLE AROUND THE 25,000 MILE MARK IN MY CASE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP RENEGADE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY OVERHEATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE COVERT JEEP CHRYSLER AND DODGE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR AND COOLING FAN FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PARTS WERE ON BACKORDER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PROVIDE ANY TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE FOR THE DURATION OF THE MONTH UNTIL THE REPAIR BECAME AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,914.
THE VEHICLE WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP BUT STILL IN DRIVE. I PUSHED ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE ENGINE REVED AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE FORWARD. A MESSAGE POPPED UP THAT SAID PLEASE SELECT A GEAR AND THAT THE CAR WAS NOT IN GEAR AND THE LIGHTS FLASHED ON THE SHIFTER. I SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL AND BACK TO DRIVE AND THE ENGINE REVED AGAIN WITH NO MOVEMENT STILL. I PUSHED THE 4 WHEEL DIVE BUTTON ON AND OFF AND FINALLY SHIFTED INTO PARK AND SHUT THE ENGINE OFF BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT ELSE TO TRY. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND SHIFTED IT INTO DRIVE AND I WAS ABLE TO MOVE AGAIN. I BROUGHT THE CAR HOME AND PARKED IT OUT OF FEAR THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN AGAIN IN TRAFFIC. I TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I LOOKED UP TRANSMISSION RECALLS AND FOUND S55, A TRANSMISSION RECALLED THAT DESCRIBED EXACTLY MY PROBLEM. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID WHILE MY CAR HAS THE TROUBLESOME 9 SPEED TRANSMISSION, THAT SOME RATIO WAS SET AT 3.7 SO THAT RECALL DOESN'T AFFECT MY VEHICLE. CLEARLY THIS DOES AFFECT MY VEHICLE BECAUSE MY SON AND I EXPERIENCED IT. WHAT DO I DO IF THIS HAPPENS AGAIN??!! I NOW KNOW TO TAKE VIDEO TO PROVE THIS IS A PROBLEM BUT MY SON DRIVES THIS CAR TO SCHOOL, WILL HE BE SAFE?
BACK SEAT BELTS DOES NOT WORK WON'T RETRACT PROPERLY SO I CAN'T BUCKLE MY BABY CAR SEAT IN.ALREADY HAD THEM REPLACED AND THEY ARE STILL DOING THE SAME THING
DRIVING ALONG AT ABOUT 40 MPH ON A RURAL ROAD ON VACATION OUT WEST WHEN THE VEHICLE QUIT ACCELERATING. COASTED TO ROADSIDE. UPON TURNING VEHICLE OFF, MADE SOUNDS FOR A WHILE. LET IT REST AND TRIED TO RESTART ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. NO LUCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEALERSHIP SAID THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. MILEAGE WAS 64K. THE FUEL PUMP IS NOT CONSIDERED PART OF THE POWER TRAIN SO THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
IN MY DRIVEWAY. I LOVE BEHIND MY MOM AND WHEN I STOP TO TALK WITH WHILE SHE IS IN THE YARD AND LEAVE MY CAR RUNNING WHEN I GO TO TAKE OFF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE COMES ON AND STOPS ME. GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND STOP AT STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHTS OR JUST STUCK IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC WHEN I GO TO TAKE OFF THE TRANSMISSION EITHER JERKS REAL HARD OR MAKES THE CAR FEEL LIKE I HAVE BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND. COOLING FAN HAS ALREADY BEEN REPLACED WHEN THE VEHICLE WASN'T 2 YRS OLD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP RENEGADE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, IT STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE STATIONARY. IN ADDITION, THERE WERE SEVERAL ELECTRICAL FAILURES WITH THE LIGHTING AND THE DOOR LOCKS. ON A SEPARATE OCCASION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED. SEVERAL UNKNOWN DEALERS WERE CONTACTED ABOUT THE SERIES OF FAILURES OVER A PERIOD OF 15 MONTHS EVER SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE DEALERS COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE MATTER WAS IN THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT OF CHRYSLER. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,240.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP RENEGADE. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOWN AND COUNTRY JEEP (3156 HEMPSTEAD TURNPIKE, LEVITTOWN, NY 11756) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STAND MODULE ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE TO SHIP. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,200.
SOMETIMES WHEN TURNING THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT TURNS ON AND THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE EVEN WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED - LASTS MOMENTARILY THEN CORRECTS ITSELF
ONE PROBLEM I DEALT WITH WAS A CRACK ON MY FRONT WINDSHIELD FROM TOP TO BOTTOM, DEALERSHIP SHIP HAD ME BACK AND FORTH WITH THIS ! IT DOESN'T SHOW THAT SOMETHING HIT IT , THE OTHER PROBLEM IS THE RADIO TURN OFF WITH OUT ME ABLE TO TURN IT BACK ON WITH EVERYTHING ELSE GOING OFF AFTER THAT . MEANING I COULDN'T TELL THE SPEED I WAS GOING AS I WAS DRIVING , GAS LEVEL , ANYTHING ELSE . AFTER IT TURN BACK ON THE EMERGENCY BREAK GOES OFF AND I'M ON THE FREEWAY AND ALMOST COST A SEROUS CRASH. THE LAST THIS THAT HAPPEN ON SATURDAY 6/17/2017 WAS THE SAME THING WITH THE RADIO GOING OFF AND AC NOT WORKING AT ALL AND OVER HEATING. TURN OFF MY CAR AND IT WAS LEAKING FROM THE RADIATOR. SECOND TIME I SEEN IT OVER HEAT AND LOW ON THE RADIATOR. I HAVE COMPLAIN MANY TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP SHIP ABOUT ELECTRONIC PROBLEMS AND THE EMERGENCY BREAK SETTING OFF WHEN I'M ON THE FREEWAY . THE FRONT WINDSHIELD I COMPLAIN SINCE I GOT MY CAR . ALL THEY DID WAS HAVE ME BACK AND FORTH WITH IT . ALSO THE BACK SET SEATBELT SIT BELTS SOMETIMES LOCK WHERE YOU CAN'T PUT IT ON OR IT'S STUCK .
VEHICLE REFRIGERANT FOR THE AC COOLING SYSTEM IS CONSTANTLY LEAKING. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR SERVICE IN JUNE 2017 AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO LEAK. SERVICE CENTER REFILLED THE REFRIGERANT AND LESS THAN A YEAR LATER I AM EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE WITH NO COLD AIR RUNNING THROUGH THE SYSTEM. THIS MEANS THE REFRIGERANT LEAKED INTO THE ATMOSPHERE TWICE DUE TO NEGLIGENCE. WHENEVER THE AC COMPONENT TRIES TO RUN, WHETHER IT IS PARKED OR MOVING, A LOUD HISSING NOISE IS HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.
JEEP IS CONSISTENTLY JUMPING INTO GEAR WHEN PLACED IN REVERSE. MOST RECENTLY, WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, WITH MY FOOT ON THE BREAK IT LUNG FORWARD! (UNGOOD). WHILE DRIVING, PERIODICALLY GETS STUCK IN A GEAR. (?). AT LEAST TWICE, THE CAR HAS REFUSED TO TURN OVER UPON IGNITION ENGAGEMENT. SINCE I HAVE OBTAINED THE JEEP, ANYTHING THAT HAS TO DO WITH THE STEREO GIVES ME INTERMITTENT SIGNALS/SOUND, INCLUSIVE OF THE USB CONNECTIONS ETC. (NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE). THE DRIVER'S SEATBELT FOR SOME REASON OCCASIONALLY WILL NOT LATCH. SOMETHING IN THE UNDERCARRIAGE SOUNDS AS IF IT IS GOING TO FALL OF OR BREAK AT ANY TIME ESPECIALLY WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS OR RUFF TERRAIN.
I LIVE OFF A BUSY HIGHWAY IN HOUSTON, TX. I FEEL I PLAY A GAME OF CHICKEN EACH TIME I ATTEMPT TO TURN OUT OF MY NEIGHBORHOOD IN MY JEEP RENEGADE. THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES, THE ENGINE LIGHT MAY OR MAY NOT COME ON. A HOST OF NEW ELECTRICAL MESSAGES MAY OR MANY NOT POP UP. I HAVE HAD LIGHTS STOP AND START WORKING. THE CAR CUT OFF WHEN MAKING A TURN AS THE CAR IS BURNING INSANE AMOUNTS OF OIL. IT IS NOT THE DEPENDABLE VEHICLE I HAD HOPED FOR. I UNDERSTAND SOME ISSUES HOWEVER THERE APPEARS TO BE A NEW ONE ALMOST WEEKLY. I HAVE HIRED A LAWYER TO INVESTIGATE MY CASE S THIS THE ABSOLUTE WORST VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED. THE CAR JERKS LIKE SOMEONE IS SMASHING INTO THE BACK OF YOU WHEN GOING 15 MPH OR LESS. IT LOSES POWER AND HESITATES ON TAKEOFF. THE CAR SUFFERS FROM MAJOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES AND I FEEL THIS IS A CASH COW FOR THE MANUFACTURE TO KEEP OWNERS SERVING THEIR VEHICLES ON A REGULAR BASIS. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. MANY OWNERS GIVE THE SAME COMPLAINTS AND THE SAME ISSUES, HOWEVER NO ONE SEEMS TO WANT TO LISTEN OR HOLD THE MANUFACTURE ACCOUNTABLE.
SEEING LOSS OF POWER LOUD MUFFLER AND UNDERCARRIAGE. RANDOM INDICATORS SUCH AS CHANGE OIL, POWER LOCKS AND DOORS, 4X4 NOT WORKING. HEAT AT 75 DEGREES BLOWS COLD AIR.
SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED THE CAR IT SOMETIMES STOPS DEAD IN ITS TRACK AS I START TO DRIVE. I AM USUALLY GOING SLOW WHEN THIS HAPPENS. I TOOK IT IN AND WAS TOLD THE SOFTWARE HAD TO BE UPDATED AND I HAD A LOT OF THEM. NOW, THE AIR BROKE AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR STARTED OVERHEATING. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND WAIT FOR SERVICE. I AM WAITING TO HEAR BACK WHAT THE PROBLEM IS NOW. CONSIDERING TURNING THE CAR IN.
THE TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO GEAR BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. WHEN TURNING THE TRANSMISSION HAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER. INABILITY TO ACCELERATE. HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES. THE LAST TIME ALMOST RESULTED IN MY VEHICLE BEING HIT DURING A LEFT TURN WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN REPAIRED ONCE ALREADY. COMPUTER UPDATES DONE AND SINCE THE UPDATES IT IS WORSE THAN BEFORE. FEEL THAT THE VEHICLE IS BECOMING UNSAFE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY
HORN WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. TOOK IT INTO DEALER AND THEY REPLICATED THE PROBLEM AND PERFORMED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. WORKED FINE FOR A WEEK OR TWO, BUT INTERMITTENT INOPERABLE HORN ISSUES BEGAN AGAIN. SAFETY ISSUE WHEN IT'S NEEDED TO ALERT PEDESTRIANS OR VEHICLE THAT DON'T SEE YOU. ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, I BARELY AVOIDED A CARS THAT APPARENTLY DIDN'T SEE ME WHEN THEY CUT IN FRONT OF ME. ONCE WAS AT SLOW SPEED IN THE CITY AND THE OTHER WAS AT HIGH SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE. AN INOPERABLE HORN IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE TO SCHEDULE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT TO HOPEFULLY FIND THE PROBLEM.
THE ACCIDENT AVOIDANCE SYSTEM WILL SHOW UP ON THE DASH SCREEN AS TEMPORARILY DISABLED WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET.
THIS IS MY 2ND COMPLAINT AGAINST THIS VEHICLE REFERENCE NUMBER (FEBRUARY 21 2017 NHTSA ID NUMBER: 10956054). THE CAR WILL OCCASSIONALY SIMPLY STOP WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING, BUT THE NORMAL PROBLEM IS QUITTING AS WE ARE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT. THIS CAR WAS IN THE SHOP IN FEBRUARY FOR OVER A WEEK, WHERE THEY SERVICED A RECALL. THE PART WAS BACK ORDERED AND ONLY BEING INSTALLED WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS HAVING PROBLEMS. MY WIFE IS CURRENTLY DRIVING HER CAR BACK FROM SOUTH CAROLINA AND HAS HAD THIS ISSUE TWICE SINCE LEAVING. IT IS NOT THROWING ANY INDICATORS, WARNINGS OR SOUNDS.
RECENTLY HAD MY APARTMENT BROKEN INTO AND ONE OF THE THINGS STOLEN WAS MY 2015 JEEP RENEGADE KEYLESS ENTRY/START KEY FOB. SINCE THIS PERSON KNOWS WHERE I LIVE I NEEDED TO HAVE MY FOB RESET AND THE STOLEN ONE DELETED FROM THE MEMORY. TURNS OUT FOR THE JEEP RENEGADE ONLY THE EXISTING FOBS CAN NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE MEMORY UNLESS THEY HAVE THE PHYSICAL FOB. NOW I HAVE TO FEAR THAT MY CAR CAN BE STOLEN AND BROKEN INTO AT ANY TIME AS I AM UNABLE TO MOVE ANYTIME SOON. JEEP IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND STATES THERE IS SIMPLY NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT AND IT HAS BEEN FIXED IN NEWER MODELS. I HAVE GOTTEN ZERO SUGGESTIONS AS TO HOW TO PROCEED SO MY CAR IS NOT STOLEN OR DAMAGED BY THE CREEP WHO HAS MY FOB. THE COMPUTER IN THE CAR CANNOT BE COMPLETELY RESET TO MAKE A WHOLE NEW SET OF FOBS SINCE THE VIN ON THE RENEGADE DOES NOT ALLOW FOR TOTAL RESET OF KEYLESS SYSTEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP RENEGADE. WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, ANOTHER VEHICLE REAR ENDED THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO RETRACT. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE, WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED CHEST INJURIES AND WHIPLASH THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SEAT BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IT WAS UNKNOWN WHAT CAUSED THE SMOKE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
TAKATA RECALL. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING FOR YEARS THAT THE CAR JERKS WHEN I CHANGE GEARS OR WHEN I PUSH ON THE GAS TO EXCELERATE WHILE ON THE FREEWAY. ALSO WHEN I TURN ON MY CAR AND CHANGE GEAR IT JERKS. I CAN FEEL THE JERKS NOT IN MOTION AND WHEN IN MOTION.
2ND OCCURRENCE OF ALL THE SENSOR LIGHTS COMING ON AND ENGINE SIMPLY STOPPING. BOTH TIMES, THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN BRAKED AND WAS READY TO ACCELERATE WHEN ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH AND GEAR SHIFT BEGAN TO FLASH. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE ALL THE LIGHTS FLASHED AND HALTED BEFORE IT COULD COMPLETELY CROSS THE HIGHWAY. THE DEALERSHIP APPLIED ALL UPDATES TO THE COMPUTER KEEPING THE CAR OVERNIGHT. THE SECOND OCCURRENCE VEHICLE WAS JUST TOWED TO THE DEALER AS UNFIT TO DRIVE. AFTER RESTING, ONLY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WILL KNOW MORE AFTER AUTO IS CHECKED.
WHILE DRIVING CAR LOST POWER LOOKED DOWN CAR SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL BY ITSELF. THEN A FEW DAYS LATER RADIO N BACKUP CAMERA DID NOT TURN ON FINALLY DID AFTER PUSHING THE RADIO ON BUTTON THEN AFTER A FEW MILES JEEP STARTED BUCKING AND HEARD A WHINING NOISE WHILE STEPPING ON GAS. READ MAY COMPLAINTS AND THIS IS A DANGEROUS VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENED THE FIRST TIME WHILE DRIVING @ 50 MPH THE SECOND TIME I WAS STATIONARY STARTING UP AT FIRST THEN BUCKING N NOISE STARRED AT @ 30 MPH.

THE RIGHT REAR PASSENGER SEAT BELT WAS REPLACED AFTER THE RETRACTOR MECHANISM FAILED, WHICH LEFT THE PASSENGER UNABLE TO TIGHTEN THEIR SEATBELT.
