As I was driving home from work on Feb. 14, 2023, in Rocky Hill, NJ. the vehicle developed a sudden loss of steering control. I had it towed to Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM of Princeton, NJ. The service manager informed me that the area of the frame to which the steering gear box is bolted had completely rotted, and the steering box had separated. The car was not driveable and could not be repaired. The vehicle will be available for inspection until April 15, 2023.
Ecm computer , o2 heater sensor from ecm and controls transmission shift points . Replaced o2 sensors and transmission is controlled by ecm not shifting correctly will stay in first gear and hard shift to second can create loss of control in wet weather conditions.
The dashboard will display odd behavior and all of a sudden the ignition will cut. Total loss of power. This has happened in the past with children in the vehicle. Very dangerous. Resetting the key will reset but it is random.
Engine failed, speedometer, tach went to 0, all gauges went to 0, power steering failed after I declutched and then coasted to a full stop (power brakes failed but still had some brake input) safely on the shoulder of an off ramp. (This not the first time this has happened, however it was the first time pulling a full trailer, so I drive as if it could happen again) Vehicle was at Branhaven Jeep in Branford, CT last July @ 64429 miles... they were unable to duplicate. It is now at Gengras Jeep in East Hartford, CT, same story. I've asked Gengras to replace the ignition switch again. I have the ignition switch from Branhaven which I found the copper plate worn off to steel and evidence of arcing on the contacts
The contact owns a 2005 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle loss motive power. Several gauges became inoperable with unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact pulled over and waited approximately 15 minutes before the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was towed to the dealer but was not yet diagnosed or repaired. The ignition switch was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,666.
ECU STOPED WORKING NO REASON.
THE PCM HAS A KNOWN HIGH FAILURE RATE DUE TO THE VIBRATION. THE COMPONENTS ARE COVERED IN A RESIN THAT YOU CAN NOT REMOVE. THE PCM IS 500-1300 TO GET A REPAIRED AND REPROGRAMED ONE. I HAVE A 2005 AND THE PCM HAS FAILED AND GIVES BAD PERFORMANCE AND DOES NOT RUN ON TEH 14.7 STOKES FOR AIR/FUEL/ IT DUMPS FUELS AND I DO NOT THINK IT MEETS EMISSON LEVELS IN THIS CONDITION.
: I AM THE OWNER OF A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER. FOR THE LAST 10+ YEARS MY ACCELERATOR HAS STUCK AT FULL THROTTLE 5-7 TIMES. EVERY TIME I HAVE TAKEN IT TO A SHOP - THEY HAVE TEST DRIVEN IT BUT NO STICKING. LAST WEDNESDAY (5/22) AT A 4 WAY STOP SIGN MY ACCELERATOR STUCK AGAIN AT FULL THROTTLE & I HIT A CAR. NO ONE WAS HURT, BUT I WAS GIVEN A CITATION WITH WITNESSES TO THE ACCELERATOR BEING STUCK. THE MAN AT THE SHOP TOLD ME HIS JEEP WRANGLER HAD A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I CONTACTED JEEP CORPORATION & FILED A REPORT (CASE [XXX]) WITH A WORKER "ALY". SHE TOLD ME TO PARK MY JEEP AND AN INSPECTOR WOULD BE THERE TO INVESTIGATE. THAT WAS MORE THAN A WEEK AGO & 5 CALLS TO 1-877-426-5337. CAN YOU HELP ME? MY INSURANCE CO. Keep wobble almost caused head on collision afraid to drive vehicle over 55 mph
MY WRANGLER HAS SEVER RUST DAMAGE ON THE FRAME, WINDSHIELD FRAME, PASSENGER ROCKER, AND FIREWALL. THE FRAME HAS ROTTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT AND CAUSED THE TRANSFER CASE MOUNTING BOLTS TO PULL THROUGH. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENED BUT LUCKILY I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND NOT ON THE HIGHWAY HEADED TO WORK. THE WINDSHIELD FRAME RUST CAUSED HOLES THAT ALLOWED WATER TO LEAK INSIDE THE VEHICLE CAUSING THE FLOOR TO RUST FROM THE INSIDE OUT AS WELL. THESE ISSUES CONTINUE TO HAPPEN AGAIN AND AGAIN WITH EACH NEW REVISION TO THIS MODEL. WHEN AND WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR THE COMPANY TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE?
THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AND PULLING FROM MY DRIVEWAY ONTO A CITY STREET WHEN THIS HAPPENED. BOTH DRIVERS AND PASSENGER CENTER SECTIONS OF THE FRAME RUSTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT WITH NO VISIBLE INDICATION ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE FRAME RAILS. WATER AND DEBRIS ENTER THROUGH HOLES USED IN THE MANUFACTURING PROCESS AND DUE TO NO DRAIN HOLES IN ANY OF THE LOWER POINTS THE WATER AND DEBRIS ROT THE FRAME AWAY. IN MY CASE THE TRANSMISSION PAN ON THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VEHICLE FELL FREE WHEN THE BOTTOM OF THE FRAME RAIL ON THAT SIDE CRUMBLED WHILE ENTERING A CITY ROAD FROM A PRIVATE DRIVE AT LESS THAN 5 MPH. DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE TRANSMISSION, TRANSFER CASE, ONE AXLE, AND THE REAR DRIVE SHAFT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A PRIVATE GARAGE BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO PLACE IT ON A LIFT TO INSPECT THE DAMAGE AS THE FRAME WOULD HAVE CRUMBLED AND SNAPPED IN ADDITIONAL PLACES THUS CREATING A HAZARD AND POSSIBLY DEADLY SITUATION THE TECHNICIAN INSPECTING THE DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN PLACED ON A FLATBED AND BROUGHT BACK TO MY HOME.
At every fuel fill up, gasoline splashes back out onto the vehicle, the person filling the vehicle and creates a very unsafe puddle of gasoline on the ground. There is never a time that it does not happen. I would be readily available to make my vehicle available for inspection of this concern. Chrysler has issued recalls for this exact problem on several of their vehicle models all within the same time period of manufacturing. The fuel tank inlet check valve is a widely known and dangerous issue that should be seriously considered to repair the remaining vehicles on the road with this problem. It has been documented by numerous owners of Jeep Wranglers from 2005-2006 while the same issue forced a recall of the same Jeeps in later model years, 2007-2008. The Jeep has been inspected by a certified mechanic where I was notified of much of this information. With the amount of gasoline that spills out and the motorist re-enters their vehicle, there could be a static charge that could ignite the gasoline and cause extreme personal harm and property damage. There is no indication or warning sign to alert you that it is going to splash out gasoline. I am left to rarely fill my fuel tank to the maximum level to avoid being soaked in gasoline and irritating my skin or worse. I have owned this Jeep for going on 4 years and it has been a concern since day 1. I am noting this report of having been injured but the injuries at this point are only skin irritations as a result of gasoline coming in contact with our skin. I also noted the date as the first time this happened but as mentioned before, it happens or will happen at every fill up.
TAKATA RECALL, OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR, PCM POWERTERRAIN CONTROL MODULE I BELIEVE NEEDS TO BE REPROGRAMMED I HAVE A FAILURE OF POWER WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD LIKE ITS GETTING TO MUCH OR TO LITTLE FUEL AND LAST WEEK MY OIL PRESSURE WILL NOT BUDGE MY GAUGES ARE SLOWLY GOING OUT ON MY DASH AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON DASH BLINKS RAPIDLY WITH THE CHECK GAUGES BECAUSE OF MY OLD PRESSURE I HAVE TAKEN IT TO MULTIPLE PLACES TO GET IT DIAGNOSED AND THEY SAY IT IS THE OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR AND THE PCM NEEDING TO BE REPROGRAMMED ALONG WITH THAT BEING OUT OF LINE MY GROUND CONNECTIONS SEEM TO BE BAD BUT I REPLACE ALL OF THEM FROM THE BATTERY TO THE ENGINE BLOCK THE DASH AND A COUPLE MORE IT HAS PRESSURE BUT DOESN'T SOUND LIKE IT. ALL OF THIS STARTED HAPPENING AT ABOUT 143,000 MILES I HAVE REPLACED MULTIPLE PARTS INCLUDING THE OIL PUMP OIL SENSOR ALL OF THE GROUND WIRES AND TERMINALS AND CHECKED AS MANY RELAYS AS I CAN. ALONG WITH MY DASH WHEN I HAD GOT IT IT HAD 130,000 MILES ON AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS ALWAYS BLINKED AND NOTICED A LOSS IN POWER WHEN I DRIVE SINCE I'VE HAD IT, IT RUNS THROUGH SPARK PLUGS AND COILS PACKS MONTHLY AND HAS SINCE I'VE GOTTEN IT I DROVE IT TO GEORGIA AND BACK AND IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GETTING WORSE AND JUST KEPT GETTING WORSE AND WORSE UNTIL LAST WEEK MY OIL PRESSURE GAUGE SAYS I HAVE NO PRESSURE AND THE ENGINE HAS OIL PRESSURE BUT YOU CAN TELL IT'S GOING MORE AND MORE OUT OF LINE. I KNOW WHEN I LOOK UP MY VIN NUMBER IT SAYS IT'S BEEN UPDATED SINCE MARCH 14, 2019 BUT WHEN I LOG INTO ANOTHER APP IT SAYS I HAVE RECALLS I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO OR HOW TO FIX IT BUT IT DEFINITELY IS THE THREE RECALLS THAT WAS PUT ON THE 2005 JEEP WRANGLER TJ.
JEEP STARTED STALLING EITHER WHEN PARKED OR IN TRAFFIC. DEALERSHIP SAYS ITS THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL UNIT (PCM OR COMPUTER). TWICE ENGINE STALLED AS I WAS DRIVING. ONCE AS I WAS MAKING A TURN LUCKILY HAD ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO PULL OVER AND ANOTHER TIME GETTING READY TO PROCEED AFTER A RED LIGHT IT STALLED ALL OF A SUDDEN AND AGAIN ABLE TO PULL OVER. I HAVE FOUND MANY JEEP OWNERS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM AND I AM AWARE JEEP IS AWARE BUT NOTHING HAS EVER BEEN DONE. STARTED MOTHERS DAY 2018 AND A FEW TIMES UP TILL JULY WHEN I JUST PARKED IT AND HAD IT TOWED TO 3 SHOPS INCLUDING DEALERSHIP.
THE POOR DESIGN OF THE GAS TANK ROLLOVER SAFETY FLOAT BALL IN THIS VEHICLE CONTINUES TO ALLOW GASOLINE TO SPLASH BACK OUT OF THE GAS FILLER NECK OF THE VEHICLE EVERY SINGLE TIME AT AN AUTO SHUT OFF FUELING NOZZLE IS USED. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT BUT WHICH THEY OFFERED A REMEDY THAT HAD AN AGE OR MILEAGE LIMIT. THIS IS A GROSS SAFETY HAZARD AND SHOULD WARRANTY T A RECALL BEFORE SOME ONE BLOWS UP.
HOOD FLUTTER WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AT OR ABOVE 50MPH. HAD TO REPLACE LATCHES WITH A NEW SYSTEM TO ELIMINATE THE FLUTTER AND POSSIBILITY OF IMPENDING FAILURE.
EVERY TIME I FILL THE VEHICLE WITH GASOLINE, WHEN THE PUMP SHUTS OFF A LARGE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE 'BURPS' OUT AND ONTO THE GROUND. THIS IS DUE TO A FAULTY CHECK VALVE INSTALLED FROM THE FACTORY THAT STOPS WORKING BECAUSE OF THE ETHANOL IN THE FUEL. JEEP HAS RECALLED LATER WRANGLERS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE BUT LEFT US 2005-2006 OWNERS STUCK WITH THE ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY, HEALTH, AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. I WILL BE GLAD TO SEND YOU A VIDEO OF THIS HAPPENING.
EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK FUEL SPILLS OUT THE FILLER NECK CAUSING A SIGNIFICANT FUEL SPILL. THE JEEP IS STATIONARY AND ON LEVEL GROUND AT THE GAS STATION
GAS TANK OVERFLOW. ANYTIME I FILL MY TANK, A LARGE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE SHOOTS BACK OUT OF THE TANK, DRIPPING DOWN THE SIDE OF MY CAR, AND OFTEN SPLASHING ME OR GAS ATTENDANT. NOT ONLY IS THIS DANGEROUS, IT IS ALSO DAMAGING THE PLASTIC AND PAINT ON MY CAR, AS WELL AS WASTING GAS.
I HAVE NOTICED THAT ALMOST EVERY MANUFATURER IS RECALLING AIR BAGS FROM YEARS 2002 AND UP, I CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY SAID THE VEHICLE IS TOO OLD AND NOT ENOUGH OF THEM ARE STILL AROUND, WHICH IS NOT TRUE. THERE ARE LOTS OF OLDER JEEPS STILL IN SERVICE AS OFF ROAD VEHICLES, BUT MINE IS A DAILY DRIVE VEHICLE. HOW DO I KNOW IF MINE WILL WORK WHEN NEEDED? KNOCK ON WOOD IT WILL NEVER BE NEEDED, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW I'M SAFE WITH MY FAMILY. MY 2005 WRANGLER IS STRONG
I BOUGHT 4 NEW TIRES FROM DISCOUNT TIRE IN JACKSONVILLE FLORIDA. THEY ARE P235/75 R15 108S XL OWL PTF PATHFINDER SPORT SAT. I PAID $100 FOR EACH TIRE ON AUGUST 22, 2015 (NOT INCLUDING COST OF INSTALLATION, LIFETIME BALANCING, ETC) AND THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO COME WITH A 60,000 MILE WARRANTY. CURRENTLY THEY HAVE LESS THAN 28,000 MILES ON THEM AND HAVE EXTREMELY IRREGULAR WEAR. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS FLATS AND LOSS OF PRESSURE OVER THE PAST 24 MONTHS. I SPOKE TO CHARLES (THE MANAGER OF THE TIRE STORE) WHEN I WAS IN THERE WITH MY 3RD FLAT IN 2 MONTHS ON DECEMBER 4TH, 2017. I EXPRESSED MY DISPLEASURE AT HAVING SO MANY ISSUES WITH RELATIVELY NEW TIRES. CHARLES RESPONDED THAT MY TROUBLE IS BECAUSE OF THE RECENT HURRICANES...AND I SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT MICHELIN TIRES! THESE TIRES ARE EXTREMELY INFERIOR QUALITY PRODUCTS, BUT HE SAYS IT'S NORMAL WEAR FOR THESE TIRES. CAN YOU HELP?
AT 45-50 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES VIOLENTLY. IT HAS THE "DEATH WOBBLE".
WHILE FILLING WITH FUEL, IT WILL SPIT FUEL BACK OUT AND WILL NOT FILL WITH GAS PROPERLY. HAVE TRIED GOING AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE ON THE FUEL LEVER WHILE FUELING AND WILL STILL SPIT GAS BACK OUT LIKE THERE IS A PROBLEM IN THE FUEL FILLER HOSE AND FLAP INSIDE IT.
005-2006 JEEP WRANGLERS ARE INCURRING AN APPARENT LARGE NUMBER OF PCM/ECU FAILURES (AS EVIDENCED IN MANY ONLINE FORUMS AND A HIGH BACKLOG OF PCM ORDERS WHICH JEEP/CHRYSLER IS UNABLE TO FILL OR PROVIDE AN ETA FOR). THE FAILURE OF THE PCM REVEALS ITSELF IN MANY WAYS INCLUDING EMISSIONS SYSTEM FAILURES (AND RESULTANT VEHICLE INSPECTION FAILURES I WILL ADD), TRANSMISSIONS FAILING TO SHIFT, HARD FORCEFUL TRANSMISSION SHIFTS WITH VEHICLE LUNGES AND MORE. ON MY VEHICLE SPECIFICALLY THE TRANSMISSION CODES ARE COMING ON AND THE VEHICLE WILL RANDOMLY NOT SHIFT OUT OF SECOND GEAR AND RANDOMLY SHIFTS TO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND PRESENTS ITSELF AS A SAFETY HAZARD WHEN ENTERING HIGH SPEED FREEWAYS AND INTERSTATES. TO THE PCM AND FURTHER ONLINE INVESTIGATION INDICATES THIS A FREQUENT AND RECURRING ISSUE. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE PCM THROUGH JEEP/CHRYSLER I AM UNABLE TO BECAUSE THE PART IS BA CKLOGGED. I HAVE PLACED A PRICEY $1600 ORDER FOR THE PART BUT THUS FAR OVER 3 MONTHS MY VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO OBTAIN A WORKING REPLACEMENT PART BASED ON THE LARGE NUMBER AND TYPE OF ISSUES REPORTED ONLINE WITH THIS PCM I AM LEFT WONDERING WHY IT IS NOT A SAFETY, EMISSIONS AND/OR RECALL ISSUE.

THE FAULT WAS TRACED BY A REPUTABLE MECHANIC (CHRISTIAN BROTHERS AUTOMOTIVE) TO THE PCM AND FURTHER ONLINE INVESTIGATION INDICATES THIS A FREQUENT AND RECURRING ISSUE. WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO REPLACE THE PCM THROUGH JEEP/CHRYSLER I AM UNABLE TO BECAUSE THE PART IS BACKLOGGED. I HAVE PLACED A PRICEY $1600 ORDER FOR THE PART BUT THUS FAR (1 WEEK) I HAVE NOT BEEN PROVIDED WITH AN ETA OR ANY ANSWERS AS TO WHY THIS DESIGN DEFECT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. BASED ON THE LARGE NUMBER AND TYPE OF ISSUES REPORTED ONLINE WITH THIS PCM I AM LEFT WONDERING WHY IT IS NOT A SAFETY, EMISSIONS AND/OR RECALL ISSUE. MY SPECIFIC PCM PN IS R6044529AC BUT MULTIPLE VARIATIONS OF THE PN APPEAR TO BE EFFECTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE BRAKE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOORBOARD WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE. DURING THE INCIDENT, THE BRAKE SENSOR INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE DRIVER HAD TO ENGAGE THE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT BRAKE FLUID HAD LEAKED NEAR THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL BRAKE CYLINDER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (BAYSIDE CHRYSLER/JEEP IN QUEENS, NY) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 151,000.
TRANSMISSION KEPT POPPING OUT OF REVERSE AND WOULDN'T GO INTO REVERSE, HAD TO HAVE IT REPLACED.
THE 2005 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT WAS A TOTAL LOSS AFTER IT CAUGHT ON FIRE AND SEVERELY DAMAGED THE ENGINE AND THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IT JUST HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED THE DAY BEFORE THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO DEMONSTRATE TRANSMISSION ISSUES DESPITE THE NEW TRANSMISSION (INCLUDING DIFFICULTY SHIFTING AND A LOSS OF POWER WHILE GOING UPHILL). WHILE DRIVING UPHILL, THE VEHICLE'S TRANSMISSION SLIPPED AND SMOKE STARTED POURING OUT OF THE ENGINE. THE DRIVER IMMEDIATELY PUT IT IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. THE DRIVER RAN FROM THE VEHICLE AND SAW THAT THERE WAS A FIRE UNDERNEATH THE CAR - NEAR THE TRANSMISSION PAN. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WENT UP IN FLAMES WITHIN 2 MINUTES. UNFORTUNATELY, IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. AN INVESTIGATION WILL BE COMPLETED TO DETERMINE IF A TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAK CAUSED THE FIRE. THE JEEP WRANGLER WAS A RIGHT HAND DRIVE THAT WAS BEING USED ON THE MAIL ROUTE THE DAY THAT THE FIRE OCCURRED.
I GET A CODE THAT POPS UP AFTER BEING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR A TIME THAT SAYS SOMETHING REGARDING TRANSMISSION. ALSO THE TRANSMISSION IS SLOW TO SHIFT BETWEEN DRIVE AND REVERSE SOMETIMES AND GRINDS (AUTO TRANS). THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE REPORTS OF PCM ISSUES THAT REQUIRE REBUILD OR REPLACEMENT BUT AVAILABILITY IS SCARCE. COULD BE POOR DESIGN.
JULY 2016 - 83,000 MI. -FAILURE OF OIL PUMP GEAR DRIVE. REPAIRED BY JEEP DEALER IN MONTROSE, CO. JUNE 2017 - 88,000 MI. - OIL PUMP GEAR DRIVE FAILED AGAIN, THIS TIME CAM SHAFT GEAR DRIVE ALSO FAILED REQUIRING A MAJOR ENGINE OVERHAUL. REPAIRED BY JEEP DEALER IN MONTROSE, CO. RESEARCHING ON INTERNET I DISCOVERED THIS IS A REOCCURRING PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. A RECALL WAS ISSUED BY JEEP/CHRYSLER FOR A LIMITED NUMBER OF VIN NUMBERS BUT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS OUTSIDE OF THEIR RECALL RANGE, INCLUDING MINE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER WARRANTY DEPT BUT THEY REFUSE TO MAKE AN EXCEPTION.
I WAS DRIVING MY JEEP TO WORK ON SUNDAY JUNE 4TH GOING APPROXIMATELY 35MPH WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND CHECK GAUGES LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD NO OIL PRESSURE AND IT WAS MAKING A HORRIBLE NOISE FROM THE ENGINE BAY SO I IMMEDIATELY SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I HAD FOUND THAT THERE WAS AN E05 RECALL ON 2005 AND 2006 JEEPS FOR THE CAMSHAFT SYNCHRONIZER, CAMSHAFT GEAR AND OIL PUMP DRIVE ASSEMBLY. THE RECALL COVERS ALL JEEPS WITH THE 8TH CARACTER OF THE VIN BEING LETTER S WHICH MINE IS AND THEY ALSO COVER SPECIFIC BUILD DATES AND MY JEEP FALLS 1 MONTH SHORT OF THOSE DATES BUT I AM EXPERIENCING ALL THE SAME PROBLEMS AS OTHERS. I HAD CALLED CHRYSLER AND THEY ARE MAKING A CASE FOR ME BUT SAID IT IS NOT CERTAIN THAT ANYTHING CAN BE DONE AND THAT I SHOULD FILE ON NHTSA AS WELL. I AM VERY DISSAPOINTED AS WELL BECAUSE MY 2005 JEEP WRANGLER ONLY HAS 88K MILES ON IT AND ID LIKE TO GET ALOT MORE LIFE OUT OF IT
WHEN PUTTING GAS INTO THE JEEP, THE NOZZLE DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF AND GAS OVERFLOWS OUT OF THE GAS LINE (AT THE POINT WHERE THE CAP GOES ON).
OVER A PERIOD OF SEVERAL DAYS THE VEHICLE STARTED SHIFTING HARD AND EVENTUALLY WENT INTO "LIMP" MODE AND STARTED THROWING DIFFERENT CODES FOR VARIOUS SENSORS. AFTER MANY VISITS TO DIFFERENT MECHANICS I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM MYSELF AND PINPOINTED THE PCM AS THE PROBLEM.
2014: DASH AND REAR LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING. HAD TO REPLACE MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH. MODULE AND WIRING MELTED AND FUSED TOGETHER. 2017: DURING INSTALL OF NEW STEREO, MECHANIC DISCOVERED MULTI-FUNCTION SWITCH AND MODULE MELTED AGAIN. REPLACED ALL WIRING WITH HEAVIER GAUGE, REPLACED ALL BULBS WITH LOWER WATTAGE LEDS. WONDERING WHEN NEXT ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WILL SURFACE.
WHEN THE EMERGENCY/ PARKING BRAKE IS ON THE CAR WILL STILL ROLL. VERY DANGEROUS FOR ANYONE NEAR IT . CANNOT PARK ON ANY HILL AND MUST ALWAYS PARK ON FLAT SURFACES OR THE JEEP WILL ROLL DOWN THE HILL. THIS IS HOW IT HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM SINCE I GOT THE JEEP INTO 2005. ALMOST RAN OVER ONE OF MY KIDS THE OTHER DAY BECAUSE OF THIS.
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, GASOLINE ROUTINELY BACK FLOWS AS IT GETS FULL. THIS CAUSES GASOLINE TO SPILL OVER THE FUEL FILLER DOOR AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE FOR THREE YEARS AND SINCE 51K MILES WERE ON IT. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS WHEN REFUELING.
THIS SPECIFIC PART WAS RECALLED ELEVEN OR SO YEARS AGO. SINCE THAT TIME, THE SAME PART HAS BEEN REPLACED 6 TIMES. ONE TIME REQUIRING A TOTAL ENGINE OVERHAUL. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PART, I HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS WITH THE FAILURE OF THIS SAME MODEL YEAR OF JEEP WRANGLERS AND THIS PART (OIL PUMP DRIVE). WE HAVE POURED OVER $5000 INTO THIS VEHICLE DUE TO THIS PART AND WE STILL HAVE A VEHICLE THAT DOES NOT RUN. I HAVE CALLED JEEP THREE TIMES NOW AND THEY HAVE NO ADVICE FOR ME OR OFFER OF ASSISTANCE FOR THIS PART. ENGINE LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. *TR
THIS IS AN UPDATE TO NHTSA COMPLAINT 10919983 - REGARDING CHRYLSER E05 CAMPAIGN CAMSHAFT REPLACEMENT - I STILL NEED A NEW CAMSHAFT BUT HAVE PERFORMED A TEMPORARY FIX IN REPLACING THE OPDA. THE NEW GEAR ON THE OPDA HAS PREVENTED ENOUGH WEAR GAP FOR THE ENGINE TO NOT GO INTO LIMP MODE AND WILL START IMMEDIATELY WHEN TEMPS ARE UNDER 40 DEGREES F. I STILL NEED A NEW CAMSHAFT TO COMPLETE THIS FIX. I MAY TRY THE CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE TO RESOLVE, BUT THE E05 RECALL DOES NOT COVER MY MANUFACTURE DATE AND THE CAMPAIGN HAS BEEN CLOSED. I AM STUCK WITH A USED LEMON! BUYER BEWARE OF THIS MODEL YEAR, THERE IS A CAMSHAFT GEAR ISSUE THAT WILL PREVENT ENGINE TIMING TO RUN CORRECTLY AND ABILITY TO PASS EMISSIONS! CODES P340 AND P344 PLUS ENGINE WILL NOT REV BEYOND 2500RPM (LIMP MODE) ARE THE TELL TALE SIGNS. A NEW OPDA IS WORTH A TRY TEMPORARY FIX $80. BUT DO NOT BUY THIS YEAR OR 2004, 2006 WITHOUT CHECKING IF CAMSHAFT HAS BEEN REPLACED, OR PLAN ON DOING SOME MAJOR ENGINE WORK/ENGINE REBUILD.
THIS IS AN UPDATE TO NHTSA COMPLAINT 10919986 - DEATH WOBBLE, I HAVE REPLACED THE STOCK STEERING DAMPER AND ADDED AN ADDITIONAL STEERING DAMPER FOR THE DRIVER SIDE STEERING ROD. THIS HAS RESOLVED THE REPORTED DEATH WOBBLE WHEN DRIVING OVER 50 MPH. ROD DEFLECTION HAS BEEN PREVENTED BY ADDING THE DRIVER SIDE DAMPER. PLEASE MAKE THIS AVAILABLE AS A SOLUTION. I SEE MANY PEOPLE HAVE SPENT WELL OVER $1,000 FOR NEW SUSPENSION PARTS ETC. THIS IS A $60 STEERING DAMPER SHOCK FIX!! PLEASE PASS ALONG. I SHOCKED THIS IS NOT OBVIOUS AT THE DEALER, THE DRIVER STEERING ROD IS LONG AND WILL HAVE DEFLECTION AT HIGH SPEED/BUMPS, LIKE A TUNING FORK. *TR
GAS OVERFLOWS AND SPILLS OUT OF VEHICLE WHEN FUELING.
WHEN HAVING TO FILL UP ON GAS IT IS OVERFLOWING. EVEN IF YOU SET THE CONTROL ON THE PUMP, WHEN YOU PULL OUT THE NOZZLE, GAS IS SPILLING ALL OVER THE JEEP, FLOOR AND HAS EVEN HAS SPILLED ALL OVER MYSELF. THIS FULL TANK NEEDS TO BE RECALLED FOR THE SAFETY OF ALL CONSUMERS.
ENGINE CODES P0340 AND P0344 CHRYSLER CAMPAIGN E05 REPLACE OPDA AND CAMSHAFT - MY MANUFACTURE DATE IS JUNE 2005, THERE IS 113K ON THE ENGINE, WHEN THE WEATHER IS COLD (40 F OR BELOW) THE ENGINE HAS LONG START ISSUES, THERE IS PLAY IN THE OPDA ENOUGH TO PUT THE ENGINE IN LIMP MODE NOT REVVING PAST 2500RPM. FOR SURE THIS NEEDS A NEW CAMSHAFT AND NEW OPDA, BOTH GEARS ARE WORN. THE CHRYSLER CAMPAIGN ONLY COVER UP TO A FEB 2005 MANUFACTURE. THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED FOR ADDITIONAL MANUFACTURE DATES WITH MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA ABOUT THIS ISSUE.
JEEP DEATH WOBBLE - MINE TOO, OVER 50 MPH, RANDOM WOBBLE OTHER TIMES DRIVES SMOOTH, BUMPS DO INITIATE IT NOT ALWAYS THOUGH, READ ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON NHTSA, STABILIZER IS KEY TO RESOLVING THE ISSUE AND STEERING DAMPER. I BELIEVE THIS DESIGN PROMOTES ACCELERATED WEAR OF THESE PARTS WHICH IS WHY THERE ARE REPORTS OF IT COMING BACK AFTER A YEAR OR SO. I'M SURPRISED THERE IS NO DEALER FIX FOR THIS, ADMITTING THE NEED FOR HEAVIER STEERING COMPONENTS. I'LL BE GETTING AFTER MARKET HEAVY DUTY JUST TO DRIVE ON THE STREET. THE FUEL ISSUE IS ANOTHER ONE THAT SHOULD BE RECALLED, HAD TO GO THROUGH 300 PLUS ENTRIES HERE TO FIND ANSWERS TO THE OPDA PROBLEM. MINE HAS NOT STARTED WITH THE FUEL ISSUE BUT AT LEAST I WILL KNOW WHAT IT IS WHEN IT DOES OCCUR.
STEERING STABILIZER GOES OUT ON AVERAGE ABOUT 20,000 TO 30,000 MILES WITH NORMAL STREET OR HIGHWAY DRIVING. STEERING WHEEL STARTS SHAKING BACK AND FORTH AND WHEELS SHAKE VIOLENTLY . I SEE JEEP IS NOW RECALLING SOME 2018-2019 JEEPS AND WOULD LIKE MINE FIXED TOO .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING, THE RPMS WOULD NOT INCREASE PAST 3,000 RPMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL PUMP DRIVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,201.
AS THE FUEL TANK IS BEING FILLED WITH FUEL AND THE FUEL PUMP CUTS OFF WHEN THE TANK IS FULL, THE TANK ALLOWS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL TO BE "BURPED" OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER ONTO THE VEHICLE, GROUND, AND THE PERSON FILLING THE VEHICLE. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME THE TANK IS FILLED AT EVERY FUEL DEPOT.
'DEATH WOBBLE" THE JEEP SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY BETWEEN 50 AND 55 MPH MAKING SPEED AND STEERING VERY HARD TO CONTROL. NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT CAUSES IT. BEEN TO MANY JEEP MECHANICS.
WAS CROSSING A BUSY 4-LANE ST RT WHEN THE THROTTLE CABLE CAME APART AND PROPULSION WAS LOST. NEARLY GOT T-BONED BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. A MULTI-CAR PILEUP WAS NARROWLY AVERTED. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 85,000 MILES. THROTTLE CABLE FRAYED JUST INSIDE THE FIREWALL IN THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. IT HAS NO HISTORY OF ACCIDENTS OR REPAIRS ON THIS ASSEMBLY. NO WARNING. VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE. STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, PERPENDICULAR TO TRAFFIC.
VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT INTO 3RD GEAR. THIS STARTED WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN TOWN AND NOW ONLY RUNS IN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR. DIAGNOSTIC CODE P0765 (SHIFT SOLENOID D) IS THE ONLY CODE SHOWING. OTHER (03-05) JEEPS WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM.
WHILE IN MOTION ON A COUNTRY ROAD, COMMING OUT OF SOME TURNS THE FRONT END/STEARING SUDDENLY BEGAN SHAKING HARD RENDERING THE VEHICLE UNABLE TO CONTROL. THE VEHICLE THEN BEGAN TO SWERVE UNTIL HITTING AN ENBANKMENT AND ROLLING MULTIPLE TIMES.
