WHEN YOU FILL THE TANK WITH GAS, THE PUMP DOESN'T SHUT OFF RESULTING IN GAS LEAKING ONTO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS THE GROUND. IT LOOKS LIKE THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FROM OTHERS THAT HAVE THIS SAME VEHICLE. IMAGE READ IT IS A FAULTY DESIGN AND FAULTY IVC .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE PUMPING FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPEWED OUT. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ROLLOVER CHECK VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
JEEP HAS SEVERE DEATH WOBBLE WHEN TRAVELING @60 MPH. FRONT WHEELS WILL START TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY AT THIS SPEED AND SEEMS TO START WHEN HITTING A BUMP OR IMPERFECTION IN ROAD SURFACE. REQUIRED ACTION IS TO APPLY BRAKES UNTIL SHAKING STOPS WHICH COULD INVOLVE A DECREASE IN SPEED OF 15 MPH OR MORE CREATING A DANGEROUS SITUATION ESPECIALLY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. I HAVE HAD VEHICLE INSPECTED AT THREE SHOPS WITH NO WORN COMPONENTS FOUND. HAD AN ALIGNMENT PERFORMED TIRES BALANCED TRACK BAR MOUNT REPLACED CONTROL ARM MOUNT REINFORCED REPLACED STEERING STABILIZER REPLACED TIE ROD END REPLACED SWAY BAR LINKS AND STILL PROBLEM IS NO BETTER. JEEP ONLY HAS 49,000 MILES SO NOTHING IS REALLY WORN TOO BAD. THIS PROBLEM STARTED ROUGHLY 10,000 MILES AGO AND I AM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO NEXT OTHER THAN REPLACING EVERY STEERING AND SUSPENSION COMPONENT AT A COST OF PROBABLY A COST OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE COIL SPRUNG JEEPS WITH A TRACK BAR WHICH SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW. JUST WANT TO ADD THE VEHICLE IS A SAFETY HAZARD DUE TO THE FACT YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN THE WOBBLE WILL START AND IF YOU ARE IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND ALL OF A SUDDEN YOU HAVE TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES TO REGAIN CONTROL OF YOUR VEHICLE IT COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. CHRYSLER/JEEP NEEDS TO REMEDY THIS ENGINEERING FLAW NOT EXPECT CONSUMERS TO FOOT THE BILL.
WHEN FILLING FUEL WILL NOT SHUT OFF CAUSING FUEL OVERFLOW, WHICH SHOOTS OUT OF FUEL FILLER HOSE.
LIKE ALL THE OTHER JEEP WRANGLERS MINE CANNOT FILL UP WITH GAS WITHOUT THE GAS OVERFLOWING OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THIS CAUSES POLLUTION, DAMAGES THE FINISH OF THE CAR AS WELL AS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE MAKE THEM RECALL THIS GAS ISSUE AS THE FLAPPER IN THE LINE GETS STUCK OPEN. AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT ALL THE FORUMS SEEM TO SAY. GAS OVERFLOWS WHEN FILLING GAS TANK. WHEN AUTO FILL LEVER IS ENGAGED AND TANK IS FULL GAS BURPS AND OVERFLOWS SPILLING ON GROUND
WHEN REFUELING THE PUMP DOES NOT SHUT OFF BEFORE GAS SPILLS OUT OF THE FUEL INLET.
WHEN FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH GAS IT DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY STOP FILLING WHEN THE TANK IS FULL, WHICH RESULTS IN GAS SQUIRTING OUT OF THE FILLER. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I GET GAS. GETTING GAS ON MYSELF, MY CLOTHES, MY SHOES AND DOWN THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE IS NOT ON MY TO DO LIST. JEEP/CHRYSLER SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL OR NOTICE TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS A FIRE HAZARD AND IS NOT SAFE FOR WHOMEVER IS PUMPING GAS.
EVERYTIME, WHILE FILLING MY TANK FUEL WILL SPILL OUT AS THE AUTO SHUT OFF ENGAGES ON THE PUMP. FUEL WILL SPILL OUT ONTO THE GROUND, MY CLOTHES, MY HANDS AND THE SIDE OF MY JEEP. I AM NOT ATTEMPTING TO TOP OFF MY TANK WHEN THE ISSUE OCCURS, IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL MY TANK HOWEVER I HOLD THE HANDLE WHEN THE AUTO SHUT OFF ENGAGES.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, SMOKE EMITTED FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND THEN THE FRONT END AND UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE IGNITED INTO FLAMES. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE SAFELY AND NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED ONTO THE GROUND. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES AND INFORMED THE FIRE ORIGINATED WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
FUEL SPILLS/SPRAYS OUT OF FILLER WHEN REFUELING. PUMP SHUT-OFF DOES NOT ENGAGE CORRECTLY. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME VEHICLE IS REFUELED AND RESULTS IN EXCESS FUEL SPILLAGE ON VEHICLE AND GROUND.
EVERY TIME I FILL UP WITH GAS, IT OVER FLOW SPRAYING GAS OUT CREATING A SAFETY AND ECOLOGICAL HAZARD. *TR
WHEN FUELING UP AND THE HAND PUMP CLICKS OFF, GAS CONTINUES TO SHOOT OUT OF THE FUEL TANK. ITS ENOUGH TO LEAVE A SMALL PUDDLE ON THE GROUND NOT TO MENTION ALL OVER THE REAR OF MY JEEP AND IT HAS STAINED MY NEW FENDER FLARE. I UNDERSTAND THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH JEEP WRANGLERS.
THE DEATH WOBBLE AT APPROX 60-65 MPH/ REPAIRED STEERING STABILIZER/FRONT AXEL JOINT/ RIGHT OUTER PITMAN ADJUSTMENT SLEEVE/ LEFT HAND STEERING ARM TO CONNECTING TIE ROD/ LEFT INNER TO LH ADJUSTMENT SLEEVE/ ALIGNMENT, REPAIRS COST $675, HAVE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND STILL SHIMMIES. *TR
VIOLENT FRONT END VIBRATION / WOBBLING KNOWN AS "DEATH WOBBLE". *TR
MY JEEP STARTED MAKING A VERY LOUD NOISE WHEN DRIVING. THE MORE GAS I GAVE IT THE LOUDER IT GOT AND NOW IT IS UN DRIVABLE DUE TO A DISTRIBUTOR OIL PUMP. BIGGEST PROBLEM IS ALL THE JEEP PARTS PEOPLE HAD NO IDEA WHAT THE PART IT WAS AND NOW THEY DO NOT HAVE ANY IN THE SYSTEM NOR CAN THEY TELL ME WHEN THEY CAN HAVE ME ONE. THERE IS A LOT OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS, STAND UP AND DO RIGHT FOR US JEEPERS!

THE BUSHING THAT ATTACHES THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER LINKAGE CABLE BROKE AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS RENDERED INOPERABLE. THIS SITUATION HAS HUNDREDS OF INCIDENTS DETAILED ON THE INTERNET AND JEEP SHOULD BE FORCED TO RECALL THE EFFECTED VEHICLES SINCE THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECTIVE DESIGN AND MANUFACTURER PART. CHRYSLER/JEEP IS BEING DISHONEST WITH CONSUMERS BY SAYING THEY HAVE NOT HEARD OF THE PROBLEM, YET THE PARTS MANAGER AT MY DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED ISSUE AND JEEP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. ALSO ASSOCIATED WITH THIS ISSUE, IS THE DEFECTIVE SHIFTER TUBE SLEEVE NYLON INSERT THAT CRACKS. THIS IS ALSO WELL DOCUMENTED ON THE JEEP FORUMS. JEEP IS AWARE THAT BOTH PARTS ARE DEFECTIVE AND THEY SHOULD BE FORCED TO FIX THE PROBLEM FREE OF CHARGE FOR OWNERS. PLEASE HELP! *TR

I OWN A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED (LJ) THAT I PURCHASED IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR. FROM DAY 1, LIKE MANY OTHERS, WHEN I FILL THE VEHICLE'S FUEL TANK, THE PUMP WILL NOT SHUT OFF, CAUSING FUEL TO SPRAY / SPILL OUT AND RUN DOWN THE BODY ONTO THE GROUND. SINCE PURCHASE IN NOVEMBER, THIS VEHICLE HAS ALWAYS SHOT FUEL OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER WHEN IT REACHES A FULL TANK. THE GAS PUMP WILL SHUT OFF, BUT NEVER BEFORE IT HAS EXPELLED FUEL ONTO ME PERSONALLY, MY SHOES, THE GROUND, THE FILLER CAP (WHICH IS ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE BY TETHER), AND DOWN THE BODY PANEL BELOW THE FILLER. THIS IS A SERIOUS FIRE AND HEALTH HAZARD FOR MYSELF AND OTHER PATRONS OF THE FUEL STATION. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE SWAY BAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.

WHEN FILLING UP WITH GAS AT CALIFORNIA PUMPS, THE NOZZLE KEEPS SHUTTING OFF. IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER HOW FAST OR SLOW I TRY TO FILL, WHAT ANGLE I TURN THE NOZZLE, OR HOW DEEP I ENTER THE NOZZLE, IT KEEPS SHUTTING OFF. IT TAKES ABOUT 15 MINUTES TO FILL THE TANK, A FEW SECONDS AT A TIME. *JS

JUST PURCHASED THIS USED JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON ABOUT 2 1/2 MONTHS AGO AND EVERYTIME I FILL THE GAS TANK, FUEL PUKES BACK OUT THE FILLER OPENING AND RUNS DOWN THE SIDE ALL OVER THE GROUND BEFORE THE GAS PUMP CAN SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER AND LANDED ON ITS ROOF IN A DITCH. THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES TO THE HEAD. THE PASSENGER WAS ALSO FATALLY INJURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. TURNED MY JEEP ON AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, SENTRY KEY LIGHT, FUEL LIGHT CAME ON AND FUEL GAUGE WENT TO 0, JEEP RAN FOR APPROX 30SEC AND SHUT OFF. FUSES WERE CHECKED, NOTHING FOUND OUT OF PLACE. TRIED IT AGAIN, SAME THING HAPPENED. WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP TO CHECK AND FIX. WAS INFORMED THAT THE MAIN WIRING HARNESS NEAR AN O2 SENSOR WAS "FRIED" AND THAT WIRES WERE FUSED AND MELTED TOGETHER. GRANTED, MY JEEP IS 9 YEARS OLD, BUT THIS IS A DESIGN ISSUE, NOT A WEAR AND TEAR ISSUE. WHY WOULD WIRING BE PLACED CLOSE ENOUGH TO A HEAT SOURCE TO WHERE IT'S ABLE TO CATCH FIRE AND FUSE TOGETHER? *TR
WHILE FUELING MY JEEP, FUEL CAME SPEWING FROM THE FILLER NECK BEFORE THE PUMP SHUT OFF. THIS CAUSED APPROXIMATELY 1/8 GALLON OF FUEL TO SPILL ON MY VEHICLE AND MYSELF. WHILE DRIVING AFTER THIS INCIDENT I HAD TO PULL OVER AND GET OUT OF MY VEHICLE AS I WAS BECOMING DISORIENTED FROM EXPOSURE TO THE FUEL/FUEL VAPORS THAT SPILLED ON ME. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO REALIZE QUICKLY THAT MY LEVEL OF ALERTNESS WAS DETERIORATING AND WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, ROLL DOWN MY WINDOWS, AND ALLOW THE FUMES TO DISSIPATE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A VERY BIG SAFETY CONCERN THAT COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF NOT ADDRESSED AND FIXED QUICKLY. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK THE BACK FLOW PREVENTER DOES NOT WORK AND UP TO A CUP OF GASOLINE WILL SPILL OUT OF THE NOZZLE LEAVING A FLAMMABLE MESS THAT NEEDS TO BE CLEANED.
WHEN REACHING SPEEDS OF 55 MILES PER HOUR THE JEEP SHAKES TO A POINT OF ALMOST LOSING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL THE JEEP REACHES A SPEED OF 65 - 70 MPH THEN SETTLES DOWN. *TR
KEY SWITCH SPINDLE WENT BAD, HAD TO REPLACE KEY, THEN HAD TO REPLACE THE COMPLETE KEY SPINDLE AND THE WIRING HARNESS, IT STARTED TO SHORT OUT AND CAUSE A FIRE. HAD TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS, COST $ 2087.00 DOLLARS. *TR
FOG LIGHTS WOULD NOT SHUT OFF, HAD TO PULL FUSE. MECHANIC FOUND LEFT SIDE MULTI FUNCTION SWITCH HAD AN INTERNAL DEFECT AND THE CONNECTOR WAS MELTED AT THE SWITCH. BOTH THE SWITCH AND THE CONNECTOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. CONCERNED THAT THIS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. *TR
GAS TANK OVERFLOWS WHEN FILLING WITH FUEL. *TR
WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK, FUEL COMES OUT WITHOUT WARNING AND SPILLS ALL OVER THE GROUND AND THE VEHICLE. WHEN ADJACENT TO A HOT BRAKE CALIPER, THIS COULD CREATE A FIRE HAZARD. ABOUT A PINT OF FUEL IS SPILLED WITH EVERY FILL-UP. IF THE OPERATOR TRIES TO LISTEN FOR THE FUEL TO COME UP THE FILLER TO STOP, THERE IS A SPLASH AND EYE HAZARD.
TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 50-65 MPH, THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO MOVE UP AND DOWN UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER FOR THE FAILURE TO CEASE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC SPECULATED THAT THE STEERING STABILIZER, BALL JOINTS, BRAKES, OR CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
EVERY TIME WHEN FUELING THE CAR, THE GAS TANK OVERFLOWS. THE SHUT OFF VALVE IS FAULTY. THE JEEP BOARDS HAVE MANY DOCUMENTED INCIDENTS OF THIS OCCURRING. THE CAR IS A 2005 BUT ONLY HAS 20,000 MILES ON IT. THERE ARE RECALLS FOR 2007 AND NEWER BUT NOTHING FOR MY CAR WHICH IS A 2005. THE RESPONSE FROM JEEP IS IT IS THE FAULT OF THE GAS. ETHANOL CAUSES THE SHUT OFF VALVE TO EXPAND. FROM MY PERSPECTIVE IT'S FAULTY ENGINEERING. *JS
WHILE FILLING UP AT A GAS STATION, THE FUEL PUMP DID NOT "AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF" AND SHOT ROUGHLY 1/4 GALLON OF GASOLINE OUT ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ON THE GROUND. THOROUGHLY CLEANED VEHICLE BUT STILL SMELT GASOLINE VAPORS INSIDE OF THE CAB FOR 30 MINUTES WITH THE WINDOW DOWN. DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND IT IS DUE TO THE VEHICLE'S ICV BECOMING STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION, WHICH BUILDS PRESSURE INSIDE OF THE GAS TANK, ALLOWING THE FILLER NECK TO FILL WITH GASOLINE, AND THEN RELEASES THE PRESSURE WHICH PROPELLS THE GASOLINE OUT OF THE FILLER NECK AND ONTO THE GROUND. IN ORDER TO FIX THIS PROBLEM I MUST REPLACE THE ENTIRE GAS TANK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ENGINE AND CHECK GAUGE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,000.
WHEN REFUELING, ONCE THE FUEL TANK IS FULL THE SERVICE STATION FUEL SUPPLY HOSE NOZZLE CLICKS OFF, THEN A SURGE OF FUEL EXPELS FROM THE JEEP FUEL TANK FILL PORT SPLASHING ONTO THE VEHICLE EXTERIOR, ONTO MYSELF, AND ONTO THE GROUND. THIS IS A SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD. IT APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE JEEP WRANGLER ACROSS MANY YEARS, WITH NO RESOLUTION TO DATE. *TR
EVERY TIME YOU FUEL THE VEHICLE, IT OVERFLOWS GAS BADLY AS THE PUMP CUTS OFF. THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF THE PUMP OR LOCATION THAT I BUY FUEL FROM. IT DUMPS GAS ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND ON THE GROUND. SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF GAS SPILLS OUT. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK THE GAS PUMP AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHES OFF WHEN THE TANK IS FULL (LIKE IT DOES WITH ANY OTHER CAR), HOWEVER WITH THE JEEP GASOLINE IMMEDIATELY GUSHES OUT OF THE FILLER HOLE. I'D ESTIMATE THAT AT LEAST A PINT TO A QUART OF FUEL SPILLS (AND SOMETIMES SPRAYS) OUT. IF SOMEONE IS STANDING NEAR-BY THEY WILL GET SOAKED WITH GASOLINE. THIS DOESN'T ALWAYS HAPPEN, BUT SEEMS TO BE OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY. NOT ONLY IS THIS AN INCONVENIENCE, IT'S AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD AND A FIRE RISK. WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMEONE'S PANT-LEG GETS SOAKED IN GASOLINE (AS HAS HAPPENED TO ME) AND THEN THEY PICK-UP A MILD STATIC CHARGE WHEN ENTERING/ EXITING THE VEHICLE (WHICH IS NOT UNCOMMON). SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT. I CANNOT LET ANYONE PUT GAS IN THE JEEP (LIKE MY WIFE). ANYONE WHO IS NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS 'QUIRK' WILL LIKELY GET SOAKED WITH FUEL AT SOME POINT WHEN FILLING UP THE JEEP. *TR
WHEN I GET GAS THE PUMP DOESN'T SHUT OFF AND GAS SPILLS ON THE GROUND. IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES AT MANY DIFFERENT FILLING STATIONS. *JS
THE EVAPORATED SYSTEM IN THE JEEP IN TURNING ENGINE LIGHT AND WILL NOT PASS SAFETY AND EMISSIONS WITHOUT FIXING IT. WE HAVE A NEW FUEL CAP AND HAVE ALSO CHECKED THE CONSOLE AND IT STILL TURNS ON HEARD THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT NO RECALLS FOR IT. *TR
