WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK, ABOUT 1/4 CUP OF FUEL SPILLS OUT EVERY TIME. *TR
1. WHEN FILLING GAS TANK AT STATION, FUEL SPRAYS AND SPILLS OUT OF FILLER NECK WHEN TANK IS FULL. 2. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP AND CAN RESULT IN QUITE A LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS BEING SPILLED SOMETIMES. IT BEGAN HAPPENING ABOUT 9 MONTHS AGO. 3. NOTHING, JEEP SAYS IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY.*DT
WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK TO FULL CAPACITY, PUMPS SPILLS FUEL OUT OF TANK FILLER TUBE. POSSIBLE ROLL OVER VALVE STICKING CAUSING FUEL TANK TO OVERFILL SPILLING FUEL OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE BECAUSE THE PUMP DON'T STOP WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. *DT
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE NOTICED A HARD VIBRATION UNDER THE CLUTCH, THE CLUTCH MADE A POPPING SOUND WHEN SHE SWITCHED GEARS AND ONCE IN SIXTH GEAR, THE RPMS FLUCTUATED. FURTHERMORE, THERE WERE TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE SEEMED AS IF IT WOULD STALL. THE CONTACT NOTICED THESE PROBLEMS WHEN THE VEHICLE REACHED A SPEED OF 60 MPH. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE CONTACT BELIEVED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO RECALL 06V147000 (POWER TRAIN:CLUTCH ASSEMBLY). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,476. THE CURRENT MLEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,800.
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK FULL, THE GAS OVERFLOWS FROM THE GAS TANK FILL SITE. THIS SPEWS GASONLINE (ABOUT 1-2 CUPS OF FUEL) ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL TIMES THE GAS HAS SPRAYED ON TO ME AS WELL AS PUMP ATTENDANTS. THE GASOLINE SPILLAGE IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS PROBLEM THAT OCCURS EACH TIME THE GAS TANK IS FILLED.
WHEN FILLING UP THE FUEL TANK, THE PUMP ALWAYS OVERFLOWS. EVERY TIME. AS FOR THE APPROXIMATE INCIDENT DATE, IT IS EVERY OTHER WEEK. *TR
WHEN FILLING JEEP WRANGLER, THE AUTOMATIC FUEL SHUTOFF FEATURE OF PUMP DOES NOT WORK, AND GAS SPRAYS OUT BRIEFLY BEFORE SHUTTING OFF, SPILLING ON VEHICLE, OPERATOR, AND GROUND. I HAVE HAD TANK REPLACED BY DEALER AT 50,000 MILES, COST OF $350 TO ME. I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU HAVE CLOSED THE INVESTIGATION INTO THIS, AND IF SO, YOU ARE TRULY INCOMPETENT IDIOTS (I'M SORRY, BUT COME ON). THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT WITH SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL NEGATIVE IMPACT! EVEN THOUGH I HAVE REPLACED MY TANK AT SOME PERSONAL EXPENSE, I BELIEVE THAT IT IS WITH THE SAME PRODUCT, AND I FULLY EXPECT IT TO FAIL AGAIN IN THE FUTURE. WOULDN'T YOU EXPECT A MODERN VEHICLE, EVEN A "SIMPLE" ONE TO BE ABLE TO FILL WITHOUT GETTING GAS ON YOURSELF, THE VEHICLE, AND THE GROUND?!!! PLEASE CONSIDER RE-OPENING THE CASE; THE IDEA THAT THE INTERNET CREATED THIS PROBLEM IS RIDICULOUS.

FUEL OVERFLOWS AND SPILLS ONTO FLOOR AND ALL OVER SIDE OF VEHICLE EVERYTIME I FILL WITH FUEL.
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED. ALMOST EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS FUELED UP, A SIGNIFICANT QUANTITY OF GASOLINE IS FORCEFULLY EJECTED/SPRAYED FROM THE FILLER NECK AS THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. THIS IS NOT A "TOP-OFF" SITUATION IT IS ON THE FIRST AND ONLY ATTEMPT. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT MULTIPLE STATIONS AND MULTIPLE PUMPS AT THOSE STATIONS. THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEM. *TR
2006 JEEP WRANGLER - WHEN FILLING WITH FUEL AT ANY SERVICE STATION THE FUEL TANK WILL OVERFILL CAUSING FUEL TO RUSH OUT OF THE FILLER NECK AND ONTO ANYONE OR ANYTHING STANDING IN THE WAY. SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE BEEN COVERED IN FUEL BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT SHUT OFF WHEN FULL. THIS IS A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD AND HEALTH HAZARD WITH FUEL BEING DUMPED ON THE GROUND AT SERVICE STATIONS. DURING FILLUP, FUEL WILL EJECT OUT OF THE TANK OPENING NEARLY EVERY TIME. THE GAS STATIONS PUMP WILL SHUT OFF WHEN IT DETECTS A FULL TANK, BUT ABOUT 1 SECOND LATER GASOLINE WILL ERUPT OUT ONTO THE JEEP'S BODY, THE FILLER HOSE, AND SOMETIMES MYSELF. THE ONLY TIME IT DOESN'T OCCUR IS WHEN THE FILLING STATION HAS THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF SENSITIVITY SET MORE SENSITIVE THAN IS NORMAL. *TR
THIS COMPLAINT IS THAT I HAVE A 06 JEEP WRANGLER THAT EACH TIME SOMEONE FILLS THE GAS TANK WITH FUEL IT OVERFLOWS. THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY GAS STATION THAT IT HAS EVER BEEN FILLED UP AT. IT IS A HAZARD THAT FUEL SPILLS OUT OVER THE GROUND EACH TIME THAT IT IS FILLED UP. THE FUEL TANK HAS TO BE FIXED. *TR
ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME I FILL MY JEEP'S TANK IT WILL GUSH FUEL WHEN THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. I'VE TRIED GOING TO DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AND IT STILL HAPPENS. NONE OF MY OTHER CARS DO THIS. AS A CONSEQUENCE IT SPILLS ABOUT A CUP OF FUEL ALL OVER THE SIDE OF MY JEEP AND ON THE GROUND. JEEP WON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT EVEN THOUGH THEY'RE AWARE OF IT. *TR
FUELING THE VEHICLE ALWAYS RESULTS IN FUEL SPRAY FROM THE VENT ON THE FILLER NECK. THIS SPRAY HAPPENS 100% OF FUELINGS. THE TANK IS OFTEN LESS THAN 90% FULL AFTER THIS AND REQUIRES TOPPING AND ADDITIONAL FUEL SPRAY. I HAVE HAD TO REPORT TO NAVY MEDICAL TO HAVE MY EYES FLUSHED AND CHECKED AFTER BEING SHOT DIRECTLY IN THE EYES WHILE LISTENING FOR THE DISTINCT SOUND OF FUEL BUBBLES RISING TO THE TOP OF THE FUEL FILLER NECK. THIS CAUSES ON AVERAGE 1/8 GALLON OF FUEL TO BE SPILLED PER FILL UP. OVER 40K MILES AT AN AVERAGE OF 14MPG THAT IS 22 GALLONS OF FUEL SPILLED AND MORE EVAPORATED. IF FILLING STATIONS REQUIRE SHUT OFF VALVES, AND ALL NEW VEHICLES REQUIRE EVAPORATIVE EMISSIONS SYSTEMS TO CONTROL ENVIRONMENTAL AIR QUALITY, TO THE GREAT DETRIMENT OF GAS MILEAGE, WHY HAS THIS ISSUE NOT BEEN INVESTIGATED BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT? WHY DO WE HAVE TO USE SHODDY GAS CANS WITH CARB COMPLIANT NOZZLES WHICH CAUSE MORE FUEL SPILLS THAN NORMAL FUEL CONTAINERS IF THE GOVERNMENT IS PREPARED TO IGNORE THIS? I'VE BEGUN USING SURPLUS NATO JERRY CANS TO FILL MY TRUCK AND AVOID BEING SOAKED IN DANGEROUSLY FLAMMABLE AND CANCER CAUSING FUEL. *TR
MY '06 JEEP WRANGLER OVERFLOWS WITH GAS EVERY TIME I FILL UP NOW. IT BEGAN DOING THIS ABOUT A MONTH OR SO AGO, AND NOW DOES IT EVERY TIME I FILL UP REGARDLESS OF HOW SLOW I TRY TO PUMP THE GAS. GAS SPITS OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE ALL OVER THE JEEP AND THE GROUND. SEVERAL DAYS AGO MY WIFE, WHO WAS UNAWARE OF THE PROBLEM, DROVE MY JEEP AND AS A KIND GESTURE THOUGHT SHE WOULD FILL IT UP FOR ME. AS A RESULT, SHE ENDED UP GETTING GAS SPLASHED ON TO HER CLOTHES, THE JEEP, AND THE SURROUNDING GROUND. THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. I HAVE COME TO LEARN THAT MANY JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM. JEEP HAS IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM AS BEING A STUCK CHECK BALL THAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM. TO REMEDY THE SITUATION, THEY RECOMMEND THAT YOU BUY A NEW GAST TANK. HOWEVER, NO CHANGES HAVE BEEN MADE TO THE NEW GAS TANKS, SO IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE YOU WOULD START TO EXPERIENCE THE SAME PROBLEMS AGAIN. UNFORTUNATELY, MOST OF US ARE RECENTLY OUT OF WARRANTY AND JEEP IS REFUSING ANY OTHER HELP. BESIDES THE OBVIOUS PERSONAL HAZARDS THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS PROBLEM, YOU ALSO FACE AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD EVERY TIME YOU NEED TO FUEL UP YOUR VEHICLE. I SINCERELY HOPE THAT YOU CAN HELP ME AND TENS OF THOUSANDS OF OTHER JEEP OWNERS WHO ARE EXPERIENCING THESE PROBLEMS BEFORE SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATHS OCCUR FROM THIS DEFECT. ALMOST EVERY TIME I FILL MY JEEP WITH GAS IT OVERFLOWS. A GOOD AMOUNT OF GAS SPILLS OUT OF THE GAS TANK BEFORE THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT SUSPENSION WOULD BOUNCE AND CAUSE ROUGH HANDLING OF THE VEHICLE, MORE SO IN COLDER TEMPERATURES. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING 12 MPH. THE DEALER TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A TEST DRIVE BUT COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. HE DID STATE THAT THE THROTTLE BODY COULD HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,000. UPDATED 5/3/10 *CN THE CONSUMER WAS ALSO HAVING PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSON. EVERYTIME I FILL MY GAS TANK, GAS SQUIRTS OUT OF THE FILL AND SPLASHES ALL DOWN THE SIDE OF MY JEEP AND ALL ONTO THE GROUND. *TR

THE CONTACT FEARED THAT A FIRE COULD START DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND NUMEROUS OWNERS WITH THE SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
GAS SPLASHES OUT OF THE GAS TANK ON EVERY FILL UP. SOME TIMES ITS A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT. THIS CANNOT BE CONTROLLED BY SPEED OF FUELING. I AM AFRAID OF A FIRE CAUSED BY FUEL EVERY WHERE. *TR

I HAVE A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON UNLIMITED THAT HAS A GAS TANK ISSUE AND BASED ON THE WEB BLOG MOST OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM HAS TO DO WITH THE GAS TANK AND FILLING THE CAR UP. THE STOP VALUE IS DEFECTED IN THE GAS TANK SO WHEN YOU FILL UP YOUR CAR GAS SHOTS OUT OF THE GAS TANK ONCE WHEN IT IS FULL. I HAVE TRIED NUMEROUS GAS STATIONS, DIFFERENCE POSITIONS AND HAVE TAKEN IT INTO CHRYSLER-JEEP AND THE RESPONSE BACK THAT I HAVE GOTTEN IS "YES WE KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO FIX IT. I WOULD SUGGEST JUST NOT FILLING THE TANK ALL THE WAY UP." THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AS THE GAS SHOOTING OUT COULD GET ON SOMETHING, IGNITE AND IF NOTHING ELSE IT IS SPILLING GAS ON THE CEMENT OF GAS STATIONS ON A DAILY BASES AROUND THE COUNTRY LEADING TO ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINATION. JEEP WRANGLER SPEWS GAS AND VAPOR WHEN FILLING THE TANK USING THE AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF FEATURE OF THE GAS PUMP. I WAS SPRAYED WITH GASOLINE IN MY EYES AFTER A FILL UP. PURCHASED A 06 JEEP UNLIMITED (LJ) WITH THE 4.0 ENGINE. WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, THE TANK BECOMES FULL AND GAS THEN SPILLS OUT THE FILL TUBE. THIS IS EVERYTIME YOU FILL UP THE JEEP. CHRYSLER SAYS THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT THAT THERE IS NO FIX OR REAL CONCERN BY THEM FOR THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE A 2006 WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON. I HAVE HAD FUEL SPILLING OUT AT THE END OF FILLING UP MY TANK. WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE TANK. THAT WAS ALMOST 2 YEARS AGO. THE ISSUE HAS SINCE RE-APPEARED. NOW THAT MY JEEP IS OUT OF WARRANTY I FEEL IT IS RIDICULOUS TO GET ANOTHER TANK AT MY EXPENSE SINCE IT DID NOT FIX IT THE FIRST TIME. 2006 JEEP WRANGLER: AT ABOUT 10,000 MILES, I NOTICED THAT A SHUDDER STARTED TO DEVELOP IN MY FRONT END AND WOULD VIBRATE UP THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL AT AROUND 45 MPH. IT DOES NOT ALWAYS OCCUR AT 40 MPH USUALLY BETWEEN 40 AND 60 AFTER HITTING A BUMP. NOW, AT 22,000 MILES, I HAVE A VIOLENT SHUDDER BETWEEN 40 AND 60 MPH, THAT IT FEELS LIKE I AM ABOUT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND HIT A BUMP AT ABOUT 55 AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT WAS SO BAD THAT SHE HAD TO BRAKE IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN THE LANE NEXT TO HER. THIS SEEMS LIKE AN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE TAKEN THE JEEP TO THE JEEP DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE ACTED LIKE THIS WAS NOT UNUSUAL AND CALLED IT THE "DEATH WOBBLE" (NICE NAME FOR IT) AND THEY REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER. THE VEHICLE STILL OCCASIONALLY SHAKES AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND SOMETIMES WHEN BRAKING AND SOMETIMES IT ACTS "NORMAL" THIS VEHICLE IS 100 % STOCK FROM THE DEALER(NOT LIFTED AND ORIGINAL 215/75-15 TIRES AND HAS HAD NO MODIFICATIONS, AND HAS NOT BEEN OFF ROADING. I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND THE REPLACEMENT DAMPER IS JUST TEMPORARILY MASKING THE PROBLEM( NOT VERY SUCCESSFULLY EITHER). AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET IT IS OBVIOUS THIS IS NOT AN UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED I GUESS THIS WONT BECOME A BIG ISSUE FOR THE CHRYSLER OR THE GOVERNMENT UNTIL THERE ARE NUMEROUS INJURIES OR FATALITIES. ITS A SHAME THAT MANUFACTURERS WAIT UNTIL THE PROBLEMS REALLY ESCALATES BEFORE THEY ARE ADDRESSED (LIKE TOYOTA). *TR
2006 JEEP WRANGLER- AT 65,000 MILES DEVELOPED WHAT IS KNOWN AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE". I HAVE SPENT OVER $1500.00 TRYING TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AND STILL AT 50- 65 MILES PER HOUR DEVELOPS A VIOLENT SHAKE THAT FELLS AS THOUGH THE FRONT WHEEL WILL FLY OFF THE VEHICLE- THE ONLY THING TO DO IS SLOW DOWN. NOW DUE TO THIS PROBLEM OTHER PARTS OF THIS VEHICLE ARE BREAKING INCLUDING THE FRONT HOOD LATCH THAT ALLOWS THE HOOD TO FLY UP INTO THE WINDSHIELD. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL OF THIS DANGEROUS AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY VEHICLE. *TR
WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE GAS TANK OVERFLOWS AND SPILLS A LOT OF GAS. INITIALLY THOUGHT IT WAS THE PUMP, HOWEVER, IT HAPPENS AT EVERY GAS STATION. THIS SEEMS TO BE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD AND SOMEONE COULD GET HURT. *TT
2006 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT BRAKE ROTORS: WARPED AT 6K MILES, TURNED BY DEALER, 8K MILES, ROTORS REPLACED, 15K ROTORS TURNED BY INDEPENDENT SHOP, 20K ROTORS REPLACED - AND DIAGNOSTICS SHOP FOUND THAT THE PROPORTIONAL VALVE WAS NOT SET PROPERLY, LEAVING FRONT BRAKES TO DO 75 PERCENT OF STOPPING, CAUSING EXCESSIVE HEAT/WARP. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED VIOLENT SHAKING OF JEEP DURING SLOW DOWN - I NEARLY LOST CONTROL ON MANY OCCASIONS - VERY VERY DANGEROUS. I DRIVE A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED (LJ). WHEN I FILL UP THIS GAS, IT ALWAYS OVERFILLS...EVERYTIME. *TR
UNCONTROLLABLE STEERING VIBRATION AT FREEWAY/HIGHWAY SPEEDS. BRAKING MAKES PROBLEM WORSE. I HAVE HAD IT INSPECTED, TIRES REPLACED, ALIGNED, ETC. ISSUE CONTINUES. THERE ARE MANY JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS THAT REPORT THE SAME PROBLEM. IN THE COMMUNITY OF OWNERS IT IS CALLED THE 'DEATH WOBBLE'
GAS SPEWS OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE JUST BEFORE THE TANK REACHES FULL AND THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. THIS PROBLEM DID NOT APPEAR UNTIL I OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR OVER A YEAR AND NOW HAPPENS AT EVERY FILL UP. *TR
WHILE DRIVING DOWN A DIRT ROAD, THE CONNECTOR THAT ATTACHES THE PLASTIC FUEL LINE COMING OUT OF THE FUEL TANK TO THE METAL LINE THAT RUNS TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT SNAPPED IN TWO, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STOP RUNNING FUEL TO BE PUMPED ONTO THE GROUND UNDER THE JEEP WHERE IT STOPPED. DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO THE COMPONENT INVOLVED, WHICH WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. *TR
GAS SPILLS, SPLATTERS, SHOOTS VIOLENTLY WHEN TANK IS FULL. IT OCCURS EVERY TIME I FILL UP AT ANY GAS STATION. OCCURS WHETHER I HAND CONTROL FILLUP OR WHETHER I RELY ON AUTO SHUT OFF. HAND FILLUP DOES SEEM TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF EXCESS GASOLINE SPEWING FROM TANK. GAS ENDS UP ON MY PAINT, PLASTIC, THE FUELING STATION GROUND, AND OFTEN MY CLOTHING AND/OR SHOES. VERY FRUSTRATING, CONCERN FOR FUEL SPARKS. *TR
WHEN I AM FILLING UP MY GAS TANK AT THE GAS STATION, THE TANK OVERFLOWS AND SPILLS OUT ONTO THE GROUND AND ON THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. I CANNOT FILL THE TANK UNTIL THE NOZZLE SHUTS OFF THE GAS BECAUSE IT IS FULL. I MUST ESTIMATE ABOUT HOW FULL THE GAS TANK IS, AND STOP IT BEFORE IT IS FULL. IT DOES NOT MATTER IF I LEAVE THE NOZZLE CLICKED ONTO SELF PUMP OR IF I AM TRYING TO TOP IT OFF, THERE IS NOTHING THAT SENSORS THAT IT IS FULL SO IT SPILLS OVER. *TR

ON MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER THE FUEL FILLER OVERFLOWS LONG BEFORE THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF WHEN THE AMBIENT TEMP. IS BELOW 40 DEGREES F. *TR
I RAN OUT OF GAS, I PULLED INTO A GAS STATION, I FILLED MY TANK. AS MY TANK BECAME FULL, I EXPECTED THE PUMP TO AUTOMATICALLY STOP, AS THEY ARE DESIGNED TO DO. INSTEAD, I WATCHED FUEL SPEW OUT OF MY FILLER NECK, AND HAD TO STOP THE PUMP MYSELF. I WENT INSIDE THE GAS STATION TO TELL THE ATTENDANT THAT THEIR PUMP MUST BE FAULTY. THEY EXPLAINED TO ME THAT THEY HAVE NEVER RECEIVED THAT COMPLAINT BEFORE, SO I LEFT. THE NEXT TIME I NEEDED FUEL, I WENT TO A DIFFERENT GAS STATION, AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM. I THEN WENT THREE FILL-UPS WITH NO ISSUE. ON THE FOURTH RE-FUELING EPISODE, IT HAPPENED AGAIN, AT A TOTALLY DIFFERENT STATION. THEREFORE, I BELIEVE THE PROBLEM IS IN THE JEEP'S FILLER NECK, NOT THE FUEL PUMPS I WAS USING. THE CONSEQUENCES OF THIS PROBLEM ARE OBVIOUS, IT IS A FIRE HAZARD, IT SPEWS GASOLINE ALL OVER THE VEHICLE'S PAINT, AND ALL OVER YOUR LEGS AND SHOES, DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU ARE STANDING. ALSO, IT IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED, EVERY TIME I REFUEL THE JEEP IT OVERFLOWS. THE PUMP WILL AUTOMATICALLY SHUTOFF AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO, BUT THEN WITHIN A SECOND OR SO FUEL WILL SPLASH OUT OF THE TANK. I CALLED JEEP CORPORATE AND THEY DON'T THINK IT IS A BIG DEAL. AT EVERY FILL UP REGARDLESS OF PUMP HANDLE STYLE, ANGLE OR DEPTH OF PUMP NOZZLE OR STATION LOCATION, A LARGE AMOUNT OF FUEL SPLASHES BACK AT THE POINT WHEN IT SHOULD CUT OFF. IT DOUSES ME AND MY VEHICLE AND THE GROUND WITH GASOLINE. PROBLEM BEGAN APPX 2 YEARS AGO AT ROUGHLY 40K MILES AND HAS BEEN CONTINUOUS TO DATE. WHEN FUELING THE JEEP THE PUMP TURNS OFF AND FUEL SPRAYS OUT OF THE OPENING. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE TANK IS FILLED TO FULL. WHEN PUMP NOZZLE DOES NOT HAVE A RUBBER BOOT THE SPRAY CAN COVER CLOTHING AND SKIN. TYPICALLY THE SPRAY INVOLVES BETWEEN A HALF A CUP TO A CUP OF GASOLINE. *TR
SINCE I'VE BOUGHT MY WRANGLER IN DECEMBER 2009 THE GAS TANK WILL OVERFLOW AND SPILL OUT ENOUGH GAS TO COVER THE VEHICLE ON THE SIDE BELOW THE GAS CAP AND SPILL A PUDDLE ON TO THE GROUND. I'VE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THERE IS NO RECALL CURRENTLY OUT THERE FOR IT. I FEEL THIS IS A HAZARD BECAUSE IT MEANS SOMETHING IS BEING LEFT OPEN INSIDE THE TANK TO ALLOW THE GAS TO OVERFLOW OUTOF THE FILL TUBE. ON TOP OF THIS EVERY TIME I FILL THE VEHICLE UP IM SPILLING GAS ONTO THE GROUND WHICH IS BOTH AN ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN AND A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
FUEL TANK OVERFLOWS WHILE GAS IS BEING PUMPED. PUMP WILL NOT FILL THE TANK. THE PUMPS SAFETY SHUT OFF IS ACTIVATED AND PUMPING MUST BE RESTARTED. AS FUELING IS ENDING A RUSH OF AIR AND GAS SPRAYS OUT OF GAS TANK AS PUMP SHUTS OFF. I HAVE HAD GAS SPRAYED ONTO ME ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. *TR
