WHEN I FILL THE GAS TANK ON MY 06 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED IT ALWAYS OVERFLOWS. THE PUMP DOES NOT SENSE THAT THE TANK IS FULL AND THE BACK WASH FLOWS OUT ONTO THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND THE GROUND AT MY FEET. FORTUNATELY MY JEEP HASN'T BEEN HIT BY A CIGARETTE AFTER ONE OF THESE INCIDENCES. *TR
FUEL SPITS OUT OF FILLER NECK WHEN PUMP SHUTS OFF AT FULL TANK SPILLING A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF FUEL. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK, THE AUTOMATIC CUT-OFF DOES NOT FUNCTION CAUSING THE TANK TO OVERFILL SPILLING GASOLINE ON THE VEHICLE AND GROUND. *TR
MY JEEP DOES NOT STOP THE PUMP BEFORE IT IS CLOSE TO BEING FULL CAUSING THE GAS TO OVERFLOW FROM MY TANK AND LEAK OUT ALL OVER THE CAR, IT IS A COMMON DEFECT AMONG CHRYSLERS. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER AND EVERYTIME I FILL UP THE FUEL TANK IT OVERFLOWS AND SPILLS EVERYWHERE. THIS COULD BE A MAJOR CAUSE FOR FIRE OR EXPLOSION. *TR
THE GAS TANK ON MY 2006 WRANGLER RHD OVERFLOWS WHEN FUELING AT THE GAS STATION. *TR
EVERY TIME I FUEL UP AT THE GAS STATION IT OVERS FLOWS SPILLING ON THE GROUND BEFORE SHUTTING OFF. THIS IS WELL KNOW DEFECT AND HAPPENS TO ALMOST EVER JEEP OWNER I KNOW. *TT
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF GAS SPILLS OUT SIMULTANEOUS WITH THE FIRST SHUT-OFF OF THE GASOLINE PUMP. MULTIPLE DIFFERENT PUMPS AT MULTIPLE DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS OF MULTIPLE DIFFERENT BRANDS DO IT CONSISTENTLY -- I CAN NO LONGER REMBER THE LAST TIME THIS DID NOT HAPPEN. MANUALLY SLOWING THE DELIVERY RATE DOWN TO 1% OF THE NORMAL DELIVERY RATE AS THE TANK APPROACHES FULL CAN REDUCE, BUT ONLY SOMETIMES ELIMINATE THE CONDITION. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD DUE TO THE SPILLED GAS. I BELIEVE THIS IS A FIRE RISK, AS WELL AS A RISK TO PERSONAL PROPERTY FROM THE SPLASHING GAS. I'M TOLD THAT THIS IS DUE TO A BAD VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK THAT WAS DESIGNED TO STOP THIS CONDITION, BUT THAT VALVE STICKS. MY VEHICLE HAS NEVER HAD ANY GAS OVER 10% ETHANOL (UNLESS SOME GAS STATIONS.. WELL, YOU KNOW), AND CERTAINLY NOT OFTEN (UNLESS, OF COURSE, GAS STATIONS LIE A LOT). *TR
WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF TOO LATE, RESULTS IN FUEL SPILLAGE EVERY TIME VEHICLE IS FILLED UNLESS THE TANK IS NOT FILLED COMPLETELY. GAS BLOWS BACK ONTO HAND OF PERSON FILLING VEHICLE CAUSING PERSONAL INJURY HAZARD, AND ALSO SPILLS ONTO GROUND AND VEHICLE CAUSING FIRE HAZARD. THE SHUT-OFF WORKS, BUT COMES TOO LATE TO BE EFFECTIVE - USUALLY PUMP SHUTS OFF THEN MOMENTARILY LATER GAS FLIES OUT OF FILLER NECK. *TR
FUEL SPILLS EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK. THE THING THAT IS SUPPOSED TO SHUT OFF THE NOZZLE DOES NOT WORK. *TR
FUEL TANK NOZZLE SPITS FUEL OUT OF FUEL TANK. ALL OVER THE GROUND, ON VEHICLE, & ON ME. IT OCCURS ON EVERY FILLUP AT ANY FUEL STATION. I ATTEMPTED TO INSERT NOZZLE HEAD IN FULLY OR INSERT HALF WAY. NEITHER ATTEMPT YIELDS POSITIVE RESULTS. *TR
EVERYTIME I FILL MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER WITH FUEL IT WILL CLICK THE AUTO SHUTOFF ON THE PUMP AND THEN PUKE FUEL ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR AND THE GROUND. APPROX. A QUART IF NOT CAREFUL. *TR
2006 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON. EVERY TIME I FILL IT UP WITH GAS, A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF GAS SHOOTS OUT BEFORE THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY PUMP I'VE TRIED. GOING SLOW AT THE END DOESN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM. ENOUGH FUEL COMES OUT THAT I USUALLY HAVE TO MOP IT UP OFF THE GROUND. THIS IS A DANGEROUS FIRE HAZARD. *TR
AT THE COMPLETION OF ADDING GAS THE FUEL SPOT OVER FLOWS, THE GAS FLOW DOES NOT STOP AT THE PUMP AUTOMATICALLY. GAS IS SPILLED OVER THE PUMP HANDLE AND GROUND. *TR
WHILE FILLING UP MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER (TJ), GAS HAS COME SHOOTING OUT OF THE INLET FOR THE GAS PUMP NOZZLE. I AM *NOT* ATTEMPTING TO 'TOP OFF' MY FUEL TANK, THIS OCCURS IN THE NORMAL PROCESS OF FILLING MY TANK UP. TODAY'S INCIDENT (12/23/2009) IS THE THIRD INCIDENT IN LESS THAN TWO MONTHS. PREVIOUSLY, I HAD THOUGHT THAT PERHAPS IT WAS ME EXCEEDING THE FILL LIMIT OF THE TANK ('TOPPING OFF') BECAUSE I WAS USING THE 'AUTO FILL' SWITCH ON THE GAS NOZZLES HANDLE. HOWEVER, AFTER THE SECOND INCIDENT IN TWO MONTHS I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMPLAINT WITH LATER MODEL JEEP VEHICLES. TO THIS DATE AND TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, HOWEVER, CHRYSLER HAS NOT ISSUED ANY RECALL OR WARNING CONCERNING THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I AM FILING THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY HAZARD INVOLVED WITH THE SPLASH BACK OF FUEL WHICH CAN HIT THE PERSON FILLING UP THE TANK; AND BECAUSE THE SPLASH BACK COVERS THE REAR CORNER PANEL OF THE JEEP AFTER IT HAPPENS, LEADING TO A FIRE HAZARD TO THE VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT YET CONTACTED CHRYSLER, BUT I WILL BE DOING THAT TODAY AS WELL. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER X. WHEN I FILL UP AT THE GAS STATION THE TANK WILL OVERFLOW WITH NO WARNING AND SPILL GAS ALL OVER THE PLACE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSES IT BUT I HAVE TRIED FILLING SLOW, ALL KINDS OF POSITIONS WITH THE NOZZLE AND NOTHING WORKS. I THINK THAT SOMETHING IS DEFECTIVE IN THE TANK. 2006 JEEP WRANGLER X. WHEN I GO TO FILL UP MY GAS TANK, IF I LET IT FILL TO COMPLETE I GET A HUGE BACK SPRAY OF GASOLINE IN MY FACE, ON MY CAR, AND ALL OVER THE GROUND. I HAVE TRIED TO FILL IT UP SLOW, ADJUST THE NECK OF THE FILLER, TAKEN MY JEEP TO A MECHANIC, ALL TO NO AVAIL. IT OCCURS EVERYTIME I GO TO FILL UP MY GAS TANK IF I LET IF FILL COMPLETELY UP. APPARENTLY THE PROBLEM IS THE GAS TANK ITSELF. GASOLINE SPRAYING FROM MY FILLER IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY CHRYSLER JEEP CORP. PLEASE CONSIDER THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
WHEN I FILL UP MY 2006 JEEP UNLIMITED GAS SPILLS OUT THE FILLER WHEN IT SHUTS OFF THIS HAPPENS MOST OF THE TIME NOT ALWAYS. *TR
MY CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR ON MY 2006 JEEP UNLIMITED LJ HAS CAUSED MY JEEP CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO COME ON AND TO HAVE MISFIRE CODES, TRANSMISSION FAILURE CODES, AND EMISSION SENSOR CODES, CAUSING MY JEEP TO RUN ROUGH AND MAY CAUSE FURTHER DAMAGE TO MY MOTOR IF THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED. THE CODES PRODUCED, DOES NOT POINT OUT MY THAT MY CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IS THE PROBLEM BUT MASKS THE PROBLEM WITH OTHER SENSOR CODES.THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WHILE AND THE DEALERSHIP COULDN'T EVEN TELL ME WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY JEEP AND SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO JUST START WITH ONE THING AND KEEP REPLACING PARTS TILL THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. I AM STILL TRYING TO GET THE PROBLEM FIXED AND I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED WITH A REPUTABLE JEEP MECHANIC AT A SPECIALTY JEEP SHOP TO TRY AND FIX THE PROBLEM THIS WEDNESDAY 8/4/2010. HOPEFULLY MY ENGINE HAS NOT BEEN DAMAGED DUE TO THIS PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER IS FULLY AWARE OF! MY MILEAGE IS IN THE 76,000 MILE RANGE AND I DO NOT KNOW IF MY DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY COVERS THIS. *TR
DURING EVERY FILL UP OF GAS, THE NOZZLE DOES NOT SHUT DOWN IN TIME AND FUEL SHOOTS OUT OF THE FILL TUBE ALL OVER ANYONE FILLING THE TANK AND ONTO THE GROUND. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING OF THE SAME THING, ALL WITH JEEP WRANGLERS. *TR
FUEL SPILLS OUT OF THE TANK WHEN I REFUEL MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. IT STARTED ABOUT ONE MONTH AGO,AND HAPPENS EVERY TIME. I PLACE THE GAS NOZZLE ON AUTOMATIC AND THE PUMP WILL SHUT OFF AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THE TANK IS FULL, BUT GAS WILL COME SHOOTING OUT OF THE FILLER NECK AND SPILL ALL OVER THE VEHICLE AND GROUND. MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER TJ OVERFLOWS ABOUT EVERY OTHER TO 2/3 OF THE TIME I FILL THE GAS TALK UP ALL THE WAY, NO MATTER WHAT STATION OR PUMP I USE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CLOSE THE HOOD, BOTH SAFETY LATCHES FRACTURED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE HOOD LATCH WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
THE FUEL SHUT OFF VALVE DOES NOT ENGAGE CAUSING GAS TO SHOOT OUT ALL OVER WHEN FILLING UP THE TANK. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, THE GAS CONTINUALLY OVERFLOWS. IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE IF THE TANK IS FUELING FAST OR SLOW. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND IF YOU DON'T REMEMBER TO STAND BACK YOUR SHOES AND CLOTHING ARE SATURATED. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK ON MY 06 RUBICON UNLIMITED WRANGLER. BEFORE THE PUMP AUTOMATICALLY STOPS PUMPING THE GAS WILL SPILL OUT FROM THE FILLER TUBE. THE AMOUNT OF FUEL SPILLAGE CAN BE UP TO ABOUT A QUART. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I TRY TO FILL THE GAS TANK. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THE ONLY FIX IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL TANK. THIS REPAIR WOULD NO BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. I BELIEVE HAVING FUEL RUSH OUT OF THE FILLING NOZZLE WHILE PUMPING GAS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP WITH GAS, ONCE IT TANK GETS FULL AND THE PUMP AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS OFF, FUEL SPITS OUT OF THE TANK. IT GOES ALL OVER YOUR HANDS, CLOTHES AND THE FENDER. *TR
2006 JEEP WRANGLER SPEWS FUEL OUT THE FUEL FILLER NECK BEFORE THE PUMP CUTS OFF WHEN FILLING TANK. THIS RESULTS IN FUEL ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, ON THE GROUND, AND POSSIBLY ON THE INDIVIDUAL FILLING THE TANK. IT OCCURS FREQUENTLY WHEN FILLING TANK, BUT NOT 100% OF THE TIME. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP MY FUEL TANK NORMALLY AND NOT TOPPING IT OFF, FUEL SPRAYS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK BEFORE THE PUMP CAN SHUT OFF. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK SPILLING GAS ON MYSELF AND ON THE GROUND. THERE IS NO WAY TO AVOID IT UNLESS I DO NOT FILL THE TANK UP. I TOOK THE JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY I NEED A NEW FUEL TANK. MY JEEP IS OUT OF WARRANTY BUT THERE ARE MANY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM INDICATING THAT IT'S A FAULTY ROLLOVER VALVE YET CHRYSLER DENIES THAT IT'S A DEFECTIVE PART. *TR
MOST OF THE TIME WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK ON MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER THE FUEL OVERFLOWS FROM THE TANK AND ONTO THE GROUND PRIOR TO THE PUMP SHUTTING OFF. THERE SEEMS TO BE A SIGNIFICANT RISK OF FIRE. THIS HAPPENS AT VARIOUS FUEL STATIONS AND VARIOUS TYPES OF PUMPS. IT APPEARS THAT JEEP IS CLAIMING THIS IS A "NORMAL" WEAR ITEM WHEN IN FACT IT ISN'T. IT IS A PROBLEM WITH SIGNIFICANT RISK INVOLVED. *TR

GAS TANK OVERFILLS DURING FILLUP...AUTOMATIC GAS SHUT OFF FAILS AND GAS SPILLS ON THE GROUND (ABOUT 1 CUP OR SO EACH INSTANCE). THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME, HARMING THE ENVIRONMENT AND PRESENTING A FIRE DANGER. OTHER JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS ON JEEPFORUM.COM HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THE FAULT APPARENTLY IS THE ROLL OVER CHECK VALVE, AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE GAS TANK. SO THE FIX IS TO REPLACE THE TANK. BUT THE FAULTY PART IS ALSO REPLACED IN THIS PROCESS. *TR
2006 JEEP WRANGLER; STARTING IN 2009, FUEL TANK OVERFLOWS EVER TIME TANK IS FILLED AT GAS STATION. THE FUEL TANK IS DEFECTIVE, AND THE RECOMMENDED REMEDY IS TO REPLACE THE TANK. CREATES A SIGNIFICANT FUEL SPILL. THIS IS A COMMON DEFECT ON JEEP WRANGLER FUEL TANKS.*TR
DURING REFUELING - THE TANK FILLS UP FINE EXCEPT FOR THE "FINAL" MOMENT. AT THE TIME A NORMAL SYSTEM REGISTERS "FULL" THE REFUELING HANDLE WILL CLICK "OFF" AND STOP THE FUEL FLOW INTO THE FILLER NECK. IN MY INSTANCE, THE REFUELING HANDLE DOES CLICK/SHUT OFF, BUT ABOUT A PINT OF FUEL SPITS OUT ONTO THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND. I HAVE ATTEMPTED MANY DIFFERENT METHODS, I.E. REPOSITIONING THE REFUELING HANDLE, FILLING FAST OR SLOW, DIFFERENT GRADES OF FUEL, DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AND EVEN DIFFERENT STATIONS IN DIFFERENT STATES. THE ONLY THING THAT SEEMED TO HELP WAS USING A FUEL ADDITIVE EVERY 2ND FILL UP, BUT THE PROBLEM ALWAYS RESURFACES. THROUGH RESEARCH, THE GENERAL PUBLIC SEEMS TO SUSPECT A FAULTY "ROLL OVER VALVE" WHICH CAN ONLY BE REPLACED BY REPLACING THE FUEL TANK. *TR
WOULD GO FROM 30 MPH AND UP APPLY THE BRAKES AND GET A VIOLENT SHAKING. TOOK IT TO GOODYEAR (HAD ONLY 24000 BTW) WHEN WE GOT NEW TIRES PUT ON IT AND THE GUY SAID THE ROTORS WERE 3/16 PAST TURNING. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE US $875 FOR NAPA ROTORS. WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT WASN'T THEIR PROBLEM AND NOTHING HAD BEEN REPORTED. SO SEEING WE WERE DEFEATED WE ASKED FOR PRICES ON ROTORS (SINCE WE WERE THERE) $310 FOR DRIVER SIDE AND $325 FOR PASSENGER. I WAS LIKE UHM OK....WENT TO FOUR WHEEL PARTS GOT A DRILLED SET MADE IN USA WITH PADS FOR $275 OUT THE DOOR.I MEAN I FIGURED WHY PAY OVER 600 AND HAVE THEM ONLY LAST ANOTHER 24000 MILES? GOT 54000 ON IT NOW WITH THE US BRAKES AND HAVEN'T HAD A PROBLEM. BTW IT STOPS ALOT BETTER THAN THE STOCK ONES DID. OH AN I SAID 1 INJURY BECAUSE I DID INJURE MY WRIST TRYING TO HOLD IT ON THE ROAD EVERYTIME I DROVE IT. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED 2 DOOR THAT EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK UP AT THE PUMP IT RELEASES A SUBSTANITIAL AMOUNT OF GASOLINE THROUGH THE INLET AS IT IS TURNING THE PUMP OFF. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME I FILL MY TANK AND IS VERY DANGEROUS SEEING AS I GET FUEL ON MY SKIN AND THEN HAVE TO GET IN THE VEHICLE W/ MY 4YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. I AM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO TO CORRECT THE FAILURE.
I OWN A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT AND EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY JEEP I GET GAS OVERFLOW. REGARDLESS OF THE TYPE OF GAS, GAS STATION OR PUMP. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP. STARTING WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD APPROX 30K MILES, THE HANDLE AT THE GAS STATION WOULD SHUT OFF ONE TO TWO SECONDS AFTER GAS WOULD COME SPRAYING OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS OR HANDLE STYLES HAD NO EFFECT ON THE PROBLEM. I DID DISCOVER THAT IF FILLED VERY SLOWLY, IT WOULD CLICK OFF BEFORE OVERFILLING; HOWEVER, THE PROBLEM IS PROGRESSIVE AND THAT METHOD IS NO LONGER EFFECTIVE. LAST WEEK (MARCH 21ST 2010) I WENT TO ADD GAS AND FOUND THAT THE HANDLE WOULD CLICK OFF INSTANTLY WHEN MORE THAN 1/4 FLOW WAS ATTEMPTED, EVEN THOUGH THE GAS TANK WAS EMPTY. ATTEMPTS AT REMOVING THE GAS TANK AND ASSOCIATED COMPONENTS HAVE FOUND NO OBSTRUCTIONS OR OBVIOUS DAMAGE; HOWEVER THE MALFUNCTION REMAINS. *CN

FUEL SPRAY FROM FILLING VEHICLE UP. DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS ALL PRODUCE THE SAME RESULT. IF I SET THE AUTO FILL ON THE PUMP OR IF I HOLD THE PUMP HANDLE, FUEL WILL SPRAY OUT OF THE FILL NECK AND ONTO THE VEHICLE, GROUND OR MYSELF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING, FUEL BEGAN TO SPILL OUT FROM THE FILLER NECK ONCE THE TANK WAS FULL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000. UPDATED 03/30/12
