EXPERIENCE DANGEROUS FRONT WHEEL WOBBLE WHEN MINOR PAVEMENT BUMPS OR DEFORMATIONS ARE HIT AT BETWEEN 40-45MPH. WAS FIXED ONCE SEVERAL YEARS AGO AT OWNER EXPENSE BY DEALER (REPLACE FRONT DAMPENER). NOW IS SHOWING EARLY SIGNS OF THE DEFICIENCY RETURNING AT LESS THAN 50,000 MILES. TIRES ARE VERY WELL MAINTENANCED AND ARE ROTATED / BALANCED PER TIRE MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATION (COMPLETE RECEIPTS AVAILABLE). VEHICLE HAS VERY LOW (ALMOST NON-EXISTENT) OFF-ROAD USE. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE AND HAVE A COMPLETELY DOCUMENTED HISTORY. I ALSO HAVE OVER 34 YEARS DRIVING EXPERIENCE. THE FRONT DAMPENER SHOULD NOT REQUIRE REPLACEMENT EVERY 20-25K MILES AT AROUND $450 / PER OCCURRENCE. THIS APPEARS TO BE A REGULARLY RECURRING PROBLEM OVER SEVERAL YEARS WITH ALMOST ALL WRANGLERS. THE PLASTIC SWITCH CONTROLLING THE DEFROSTER BROKE, WHICH MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DEFOG THE WINDOWS. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND HAD TO USE A RAG TO KEEP THE WINDOW CLEAR WHILE DRIVING SO I COULD EXIT. *TR
1. NORMAL ROAD DRIVING, 3000 MILES AFTER PURCHASING A CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED JEEP WRANGLER (19700 MILES TOTAL ON VEHICLE), LEAD TO THE VEHICLE BECOMING DANGEROUSLY OUT OF CONTROL AT AROUND 50MPH. THE STEERING VIBRATIONS WERE SO SEVERE, THAT THE JEEP COULD HARDLY BE STEERED. 2. THIS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 5 TIMES IN A 7 DAY SPAN, WITH THE LAST INCIDENT BEING THE MOST SEVERE. 3. I PERSONALLY RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND FOUND IT TO BE CALLED THE 'DEATH WOBBLE', AND APPEARS TO BE DUE TO A FLAWED DESIGN ON JEEP AND OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR, AND WAS BILLED IN EXCESS OF $1,000. A NEW STEERING STABILIZER AND FRONT BUSHING KIT WAS INSTALLED. THIS APPEARS TO HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE. *TR
FUEL SPRAY EVERYTIME I FILL THE VEHICLE. FUEL PUMP DOES NOT SENSE TANK IS FULL AND SPRAYS FUEL EVERYWHERE. WIDELY REPORTED BY FELLOW JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. CHRYSLER DENIES PROBLEM WHILE REPLACING SOME TANKS WITH NEW TANK THAT CONTINUES TO USE FAULTY DESIGN. CURRENTLY THERE IS NO AFTERMARKET HELP OR SUPPORT FOR THIS ISSUE AND CERTAINLY NONE FROM CHRYSLER OR JEEP. *LN
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH THE 2006 JEEP WRANGLER SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND DECELERATED VERY QUICKLY. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. THE RPMS DROPPED TO AROUND 1500, PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL DID NOTHING TO INCREASE THE RPMS. I HAD TO PULL OVER OUT OF TRAFFIC. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP IN JULY 2009. JEEP REPLACED ALL THE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS TO INCLUDE THE MAIN COMPUTER AT THE TIME. THEY SAID THAT THEY FOUND A SENSOR THAT WAS BAD. THE REPAIRS LASTED FOR ABOUT 10 MONTH AND THEN IT DID IT AGAIN IN MAY OF 2010. JEEP HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 7 WEEKS TRYING BEFORE THEY GOT IT REPAIRED THE FIRST TIME. THE LAST TIME IT TOOK 2 WEEKS TO REPAIR IT. *TR
FUEL OVERFLOWS AFTER NOZZLE CUTS OFF WHEN FILLING GAS TANK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT FUEL BEGAN TO SPILL OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, THE TANK WILL OVERFLOW. IT HAPPENS REGULARLY, APPROXIMATELY 1 IN EVERY 5 FILLS. IT OCCURS AT DIFFERENT FILLING STATIONS USING DIFFERENT PUMPS. MANY JEEP OWNERS HAVE REPORTED THIS PROBLEM. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN AND THE DEFECTIVE COMPONENT SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
THERE WERE TWO SEPARATE INCIDENTS WHERE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT BETWEEN 30 TO 40 MPH AND ENCOUNTERED TOTAL LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE"S STEERING DUE TO CONSTANT BACK AND FORTH OSCILLATIONS OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS WAS DUE TO A DEFECTIVE OR BROKEN STEERING DAMPER ON THE FRONT SUSPENSION. *TR
2006 JEEP WRANGLER THAT HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH OVERFLOWING FUEL WHILE FILLING IT UP SINCE ACQUIRED AT 7,000 MILES. THIS PROBLEM POSES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY PROBLEM AS WELL AS A NEGATIVE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO CHRYSLER, BUT THEY STATED MY JEEP WASN'T AFFECTED BY THE RECALL THAT THEY HAVE ISSUED ON THE EXACT SAME FUEL TANK COMPONENTS BEING USED IN OTHER MODELS. *TR
I WAS FILLING UP MY 06 JEEP WRANGLER AND I GOT SPRAYED WITH FUEL ON MY BODY, JEEP AND GROUND. THE PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED EVERY TIME I TRY TO FILL MY TANK UP TO FULL. IM CONCERNED THAT STATIC ELECTRICITY MIGHT IGNITE THIS, MYSELF OR ANOTHER HUMAN BEING. JEEP/ CHRYSLER REFUSES TO FIX THIS ON MY JEEP. THE SAME EXACT SAME THING WAS HAPPENING TO MY WIFE'S 07 CHRYSLER ASPEN AND IT WAS RECALLED AND FIXED. WE BOUGHT BOTH VEHICLES NEW AND THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN WRECKED. JEEP/ CHRYSLER ARE RISKING PEOPLES LIVES WITH THIS ISSUE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 TO 50 MPH HE NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A VIOLENT SHAKE IN THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE SHAKING BECAME SO EXCESSIVE THAT IT CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO MOVE INTO THE NEXT LANE DUE TO THE DRIVER NOT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL IT. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THE SHAKING MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY THE TIRES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE TIRES AND PERFORMED AN ALIGNMENT. WITHIN 10,000 MILES OF HAVING THE ALIGNMENT DONE AND THE TIRES CHANGED THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
FIRST I STARTED TO HAVE A LOUD RATTLING SOUND WHEN I AM IDLING, NEUTRAL WITH THE CLUTCH OUT. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NORMAL WEAR NOISE, BUT I COULD REPLACE THE THROW OUT BEARING TO MAKE IT QUIETER. AFTER IT WAS REPLACED I STARTED HEARING A LOUD WHISTLING SOUND WHEN MY JEEP IS COASTING AND ABOVE 2000 RPMS WITH THE CLUTCH OUT. THE DEALERSHIP KEEPS TELLING ME IT'S NORMAL. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK 2 TIMES, BUT THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM. I'M STILL HAVING THE NOISE AND THERE IS NO SIGN OF A FIX FROM THE DEALERSHIP. THEY JUST KEEP SAYING IT'S NORMAL. JUST LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE THEY HAVE HAD TO FIX!!! *TR
1. EMPTY GAS TANK. THEN WENT TO FILL SAID EMPTY TANK. 2. JEEP OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK. SPLASHES FUEL DOWN THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND ONTO THE GROUND. 3. I HAVE HELD THE NOZZLE AT DIFFERENT ANGLES AND DIFFERENT DEPTHS IN THE FUEL TANK FILLER NECK BUT ALL LEAD TO THE SAME RESULTS WITH NO VARYING IN FUEL OVERFLOW AMOUNTS. MENTIONED TO JEEP DEALERSHIP, NO PROBLEM MUST BE MY FAULT, DISCUSSED WITH FELLOW JEEP OWNERS AND SEARCHED ONLINE ALL TO NO AVAIL. *TW
FUEL OVERFLOW WHEN FILLING UP, HAPPENS EVERY TIME.
FUEL TANK FILLER NECK SPILLS GASOLINE FORCEFULLY OVER THE SIDE, FENDER FLARE AND GROUND, WHICH REQUIRES A SPILL KIT TO BE USED TO CLEANUP THE PUDDLE CREATED BY THIS SPILL. THIS PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED BEFORE AND WAS FIXED USING THE SAME FAULTY PARTS WHICH AT THAT TIME WAS UNDER WARRANTY. APPROXIMATELY 4000 MILES LATER THE SAME SPILLING OF GASOLINE OCCURRED BUT DEALERSHIP SAID THE VEHICLE WAS OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD AND THAT IT WOULD COST ME $1000 TO REPAIR. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN EXTREME FIRE HAZARD AS WELL AS A POSSIBLY SEVERE INJURY TO MYSELF AS THE GASOLINE COULD FLY INTO MY EYES OR UNTO MY CLOTHES. I DEMAND A COMPLETE NEW FUEL TANK CONFIGURATION AND FUEL FILLER NECK PARTS. TWO EXACT PROBLEMS MEANS FAULTY EQUIPMENT PARTS AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED WITH UPDATED PARTS. THE FIRST TIME IT WAS FIXED IS LISTED BELOW.
SUMMARY:EACH TIME THE FUEL TANK IS FILLED, GASOLINE GUSHES OUT THE FILL SPOUT ON TO THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND OR PAVEMENT. THIS CAN NOT BE AVOIDED IF COMPLETELY FILLING THE VEHICLE WITH FUEL. FUEL TANK CAN ONLY PARTIALLY BE FILLED. THIS PROBLEM POSES AN EXTREME FIRE DANGER TO ANY PERSON FILLING THE FUEL TANK. SURE HOPE THAT SOMEONE DON'T DIE IN ORDER FOR SOMETHING TO ACTUALLY GET DONE! *TR
WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN THE SPEEDS OF 40 MPH TO 50 MPH THE FRONT END SHAKES VERY HARD AND IS HARD TO KEEP IN YOUR OWN LANE. *TR
I OWN A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER SE WHICH I BOUGHT IN MAY 22, 2009 WITH 14000 MILES. ON JUNE 7TH THE VEHICLE FRONT END BEGAN TO SHAKE AND WOBBLE THE ENTIRE CAR AND STEERING WHEEL UNCONTROLLABLY AFTER REACHING 45-50 MPH OR ON A ROUGH ROAD OR JUST A SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD MAKES THE VEHICLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM. THIS HAPPENED TO ME 5 SEPARATE TIMES TODAY ALL WHILE EITHER THE VEHICLE WAS IN GEAR OR IN NEUTRAL AND WOULDN'T STOP UNTIL I SLOWED THE VEHICLE DOWN TO 30 OR CAME TO A STOP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING AND MADE A RATTLING NOISE. IN ADDITION, THE CLUTCH BECAME DISENGAGED WHEN THE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V147000 (POWER TRAIN:CLUTCH ASSEMBLY). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
I OWN A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER, I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A VIOLENT SHAKE OR ALSO KNOWN AS THE DEATH WOBBLE SINCE 2009. LATELY, IT HAS GOTTEN FAR WORSE. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AT THE FIRST SIGNS OF THE PROBLEM, THEY TOLD ME THAT IT WAS THE TIRES AND THAT THEY WOULD REIMBURSE ME. I CALLED BACK SEVERAL TIMES AFTER I GOT THE TIRES, BUT THE MANAGER ALWAYS HAD AN EXCUSE. SO, NO I DID NOT GET REIMBURSED. THE TIRES FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT TIME, BUT NOW IT'S BACK AND WORSE THAN EVER. IT STARTS THE DEATH WOBBLE AT AROUND 55MPH, IT IS SO VIOLENT THAT IT TAKES EVERYTHING I HAVE JUST TO KEEP CONTROL. THE ONLY WAY THAT I CAN GET IT TO STOP IS TO EITHER SPEED UP TO 60 OR COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM AND NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION FROM NHTSA BEFORE A DEATH OCCURS DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO STOP THE VIBRATION. SHE SPOKE TO TWO OTHER JEEP OWNERS AND THEY REFERRED TO THIS ISSUE AS A "DEATH SHAKE". THE CONTACT STATED THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE IT FEELS AS IF THE FRONT WHEELS ARE COMING OFF. THE CAR EXPERIENCED VIOLENT FRONT END WOBBLE WHEN GOING OVER UNEVEN PAVEMENT, MORE SEVERE WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE DEALER SAID THAT THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE WARPED AND REPLACED THEM (THERE WAS ONLY APPROX. 11,000 MILES ON THE CAR AT THAT TIME, WHICH I HAD BOUGHT NEW). THE PROBLEM RECURRED OFF AND ON, BUT TO A LESSER DEGREE. THE PROBLEM RECURRED IN THE SUMMER OF 2009, WITH LESS THAN 20,000 MILES DRIVEN. I HAD THE FRONT STABILIZER BAR REPLACED ON 9-3-11. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES TO OCCUR SOMETIMES TO A LESSER DEGREE AND SOMETIMES TO A GREATER DEGREE DEPENDING ON VEHICLE SPEED. WHEN THE WOBBLE IS SEVERE, CONTROL OF THE JEEP IS DIFFICULT, WITH ONE INSTANCE OF GOING OFF OF THE ROAD UNTIL I SLOWED DOWN TO APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH AND REGAINED CONTROL. *TR

2006 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED 4.0 L WHEN FUELING THIS VEHICLE, FUEL SPILLS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK EVERY TIME. THIS OCCURS EVEN WHEN THE FUEL NOZZLE IS NOT DEPRESSED TO FULL VOLUME. FUEL CAN SLOSH SEVERAL FEET FROM THE FILLER NECK. THIS IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD FOR SEVERAL REASONS. I HAVE HAD FUEL SPILLED ONTO MY SKIN AND NEARLY INTO MY EYES. THERE IS ALSO SIGNIFICANT FIRE HAZARD DUE TO THE PRESSURIZED NATURE AND VELOCITY OF THE FUEL COMING UP THE NECK. PLEASE INVESTIGATE, THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I PURCHASED THIS JEEP IN APRIL 2009 AND IT HAS OCCURRED EVERY FILL. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, BUMP OR LIGHT APPLICATION OF BRAKES DURING SLIGHT TURN CAUSES STEERING WHEEL TO SHUDDER VIOLENTLY. STEERING WILL NOT STOP SHAKING UNTIL SPEED IS REDUCED, WHICH ON THE LAST OCCASION, RESULTED IN NEAR MISS ON FREEWAY DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY USED ON CITY STREETS ONLY AND ISSUE WAS OBSERVED ON A COUPLE OF OCCASIONS, BUT FREQUENCY AND SEVERITY INCREASES DRAMATICALLY AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. ALTHOUGH VEHICLE ONLY HAS 17,699 MILES, IT IS 2 MONTHS OUT OF 36MO WARRANTY. DEALERSHIP AND CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE REFUSED TO ASSIST WITHOUT CUSTOMER PAY DIAGNOSTIC OR CUSTOMER PAY REPAIR. THE CONDITION IS INTERMITTENT AND THE LAST TIME IT OCCURRED WITH MY WIFE DRIVING, SHE HAD TO VEER OFF THE ROAD ACROSS SEVERAL LANES OF FREEWAY TRAFFIC, ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. SHE SUFFERED A SLIGHT SPRAIN OF HER WRIST. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH HE NOTICED THAT THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING AND VIBRATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND INSPECTED WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE STEERING DAMPER FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR $50.00. THE FOLLOWING DAY THE FAILURE RECURRED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. A LOCAL MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A FRONT END ALIGNMENT AND LATER STATED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE ROTATED AND BALANCED FOR $20.00. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
IN REFERENCE TO ALL LATE MODEL JEEP WRANGLERS. WHAT IS KNOWN AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE". AT A SPEED OF 35 TO 55 MPH, A VIBRATION IN THE FRONT END WILL OCCUR THAT MAGNIFIES IN INTENSITY UNTIL THE DRIVER MUST STOP THE VEHICLE TO REGAIN CONTROL. VERY DANGEROUS. JEEP SAYS THAT IT THINKS A STEERING DAMPER CHANGE COULD STOP THIS FROM OCCURRING,BUT HAS NEVER ISSUED A RECALL OR DESIGN CHANGE. PROBLEM SPANS SEVERAL YEARS OF THE WRANGLER MODEL. I HAVE HEARD OF MID 90'S ALL THE WAY TO MY 06' HAVING THE "DEATH WOBBLE". IN MY OPINION JEEP HAS NEGLECTED TO FIX A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT IM SURE HAS CAUSED MORE THAN A FEW ACCIDENTS. I HAVE HAD TO STOP COMPLETELY GETTING ON THE INTERSTATE TO REGAIN CONTROL . THAT CANT BE SAFE. I WOULD THINK THAT A FIX SHOULDN'T BE THAT HARD FOR THE ENGINEERS AT DAIMLER/CHRYSLER TO COME UP WITH . I TOLD THEM THE TIRES HAVE ONLY 15,000 MILES ON THEM THEN THEY TOLD ME TO SEE THE PLACE (POMPS IN RACINE) THAT SOLD ME THE TIRES. POMPS SAID I NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. THEN, ON THE 8TH OF APRIL DRIVING AT 40MPH ON A BUMPY ROAD, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK VIOLENTLY AGAIN WITH WHAT FELT LIKE THE FRONT WHEELS WERE LOOSE. EVERY WRANGLE UNLIMITED OWNER I HAVE ASKED EXPERIENCES THE SAME PROBLEM, YET CHRYSLER FAILS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE. I HAVE TRIED TO BE ULTRA CAREFUL TO STOP IT WHEN IT SOUNDS LIKE IT'S GETTING FULL, BUT EVEN THEN WITHIN A COUPLE OF SECONDS IT STILL OVERFLOWS OUT ONTO THE VEHICLE, THE GROUND AND ME. THE AUTO SHUT-OFF FEATURE OF THE FUEL SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK. WHEN I FILL UP THE GAS TANK, FUEL WILL SPRAY / SPILL OUT. THE FIRST OCCURRENCE THAT I EXPERIENCED WAS AROUND 40K MILES. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALERSHIP (AS IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY). THEY ADVISED ME THAT THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG. AT THAT POINT, IT WAS OCCURRING INTERMITTENTLY. AT SOME POINT SHORTLY AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, THE AUTO SHUT-OFF FEATURE OF THE FUEL SYSTEM FAILED COMPLETELY. NOW, EVERY TIME THAT I FILL UP THE GAS TANK, FUEL WILL SPRAY / SPILL OUT. THIS ISSUE CONTINUES TO THIS DAY. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE (FUEL SPILLED ON THE VEHICLE, ON THE OPERATOR AND ON THE GROUND) AND AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE (FUEL SPILLED ON THE GROUND), NOT TO MENTION THE ECONOMIC ISSUE OF PAYING FOR WASTED GASOLINE AT ABOUT $4 PER GALLON. WHEN ADDING FUEL TO THE 2006 JEEP WRANGLER EITHER WITH AN AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF PUMP OR BY HAND THE FUEL OVER SPRAYS OUT OF THE NOZZLE HOLE WHEN THE TANK BECOMES FULL. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY SPEED YOU ADD FUEL SPILLING GAS ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, ON THE PERSON ADDING THE FUEL, AND ALL OVER THE GROUND AT THE GAS STATION. THEY SAY THE TIE RODS AND TRACBAR NEED REPLACEMENT BUT THEY CAN'T GET THE PARTS UNTIL AFTER 12/24/08. I RESEARCH THIS DEATH WOBBLE AND FOUND OUT THAT IT HAPPENS TO MANY, MANY OTHER JEEP OWNERS. BOUGHT A 2006 WRANGLER W/ 3500 MILES. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, REALIZED THAT VEHICLE HAD A PROBLEM - WHEN BRAKING AT SPEEDS OF 55 TO 60 MPH (GENTLY, MIND YOU, NO HARD BRAKING), VEHICLE AND STEERING WHEEL WOULD SHUDDER AND WOBBLE VIOLENTLY, AND THIS WOULD INCREASE IN SEVERITY UNTIL VEHICLE SLOWED TO 40 MPH, THEN SHUDDERING/WOBBLING WOULD STOP. TOOK TO PURCHASE DEALER FIRST (FORD) TO HAVE WHEEL BALANCED. THIS DID NOT FIX IT, SO, TOOK TO WARRANTY (JEEP) SHOP, WHO FIRST TRIED TO BLAME DEALER (FORD) SHOP, SAID LUG NUTS WERE SCREWED ON TOO TIGHT, THUS CAUSING ROTORS TO WARP. HAD FORD DEALER TURN ROTORS, BUT PROBLEM RETURNED SHORTLY. TOOK TO WARRANTY (JEEP) SHOP, INSISTED THEY FIX. THEY REPLACED ROTORS, BUT PROBLEM RETURNED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. RETURNED VEHICLE TO THEM, THEY "MACHINED" NEW ROTORS. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, THE PROBLEM RETURNED. TOOK TO JEEP AGAIN, THIS TIME, THEY SAID IT WAS THE BALL JOINTS, REPLACED UPPER AND LOWER RIGHT BALL JOINTS. PROBLEM REMAINED, BUT WAS SPORADIC RATHER THAN CONSTANT.. TOOK IT BACK TO JEEP, THEY SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM, "COME BACK WHEN PROBLEM MORE PRONOUNCED". WITHIN A FEW WEEKS, PROBLEM WAS CONSTANT AND VERY PRONOUNCED; SCARY, EVEN. TOOK BACK TO JEEP AGAIN THIS WEEK, THEY SAY IT IS THE ROTORS AGAIN, AND THEY WILL REPLACE THEM ONE MORE TIME UNDER WARRANTY, BUT NEVER AGAIN. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SHOP(S) FOR WORK ON THIS PROBLEM NO LESS THAN 5 OR 6 TIMES. DEALER IMPLIES THAT THIS IS ALL MY FAULT, EVEN THOUGH I DRIVE SUBSTANTIALLY FEWER MILES THAN MOST PEOPLE, AND MY DRIVING HABITS ARE QUITE DULL, TO SAY THE LEAST: NO TOWING, NO DRIVING ON THE BEACH, OVER ROCKS, ETC., NO HARD BRAKING, NO EXCESSIVE SPEED, ETC., ETC. (THEY TELL ME THAT NO ONE ELSE HAS THIS PROBLEM, EVEN THOUGH THE INTERNET IS FULL OF THESE KINDS OF COMPLAINTS.) IN THE LAST 16 YEARS, I HAVE DRIVEN 4 JEEPS, 3 FORDS, 1 MAZDA, AND 2 VW'S, AND THIS 2006 WRANGLER IS THE ONLY ONE THAT HAS EVER HAD A ROTOR PROBLEM OF ANY KIND, MUCH LESS A CONSTANTLY RECURRING ONE. *TR

I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FILL UP MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. WHEN THE TANK IS "FULL", THE GAS OVER FLOWS OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE AND GOES ALL OVER THE FENDER FLARE AND REAR QUARTER PANEL. SOMETIMES, IF I DON'T GET OUT OF THE WAY FAST ENOUGH, I'LL GET GAS ON ME AS WELL. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP MY VEHICLE AT THE GAS PUMP, THE GASOLINE WOULD OVERFLOW. THE GAS WOULD PUMP NORMALLY. WHEN THE TANK FILLED UP, THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF WOULD CLICK OFF AND GAS WOULD STOP FLOWING. ABOUT 2 SECONDS LATER GAS WOULD COME SPEWING OUT OF THE NECK. THIS WOULD HAPPEN NO MATTER WHAT GAS STATION OR PUMP I USED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CHRYSLER DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE ENTIRE GAS TANK. THIS SOLVED THE PROBLEM. *TR
