WHEN PUMPING GAS IN MY 2006 WRANGLER THE PUMP DOESN'T CUT OFF AND IT OVERFLOWS EVERYTIME I FILL UP. THE FIRST COUPLE OF TIMES I GOT GAS ON MY CLOTHES, SHOES, THE GROUND, AND THE JEEP. NOW I STAND BACK AND TRY TO LISTEN AND MANUALLY CUT THE PUMP OFF, BUT FAIRLY OFTEN IT STILL SHOOTS GAS BACK OUT(ABOUT HALF A GALLON IF I DIDN'T PAY ATTENTION LIKE THE FIRST TIME). AFTER DOING RESEARCH, THE ONLY SOLUTION I CAN FIND IS REPLACING THE GAS TANK WITH ANOTHER DOOMED TO FAIL TANK. *TR
DEATH WOBBLE ON A 2006 JEEP. I WAS GOING 55 AND HAD IT HAPPEN TOOK IT TO A SHOP THEY SAID MY TIRES NEEDED TO BE BALANCED. A WEEK LATER IT HAPPENED AT 58 MPH AND I LOST CONTROL OF THE JEEP GOING OFF THE RAD TOOK IT IN TO THE SHOP THEY SAID IT WAS MY BRAKES. AFTER THE BRAKES IT STILL HAPPENED AT 58 MPH I HAVE NEW BRAKES , SHOCKS, BRAKE PADS, BALANCED, STEERING ROD TOTAL OF OVER 2000.00 AND 5 DAYS OF MY TIME. *TR
I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED WITH 16,500 MILES ON IT. A WEEK AFTER I WAS ACCELERATING ON TO THE INTERSTATE WHEN I HIT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH THE JEEP STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. I HAD TO COME TO AN ALMOST COMPLETE STOP ON THE INTERSTATE TO GET IT TO STOP. I FIRST THOUGHT IT WAS THE TIRES BUT IT HAD A BRAND NEW SET ON IT. SO I HAD THEM MICRO BALANCED. IT DIDN'T DO AGAIN FOR ABOUT 2 WEEKS UNTIL I TRIED TO GET ON THE INTERSTATE AGAIN AT 50 MPH. I TOOK IT TO JEEP BECAUSE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANT AND WAS TOLD BECAUSE IT HAD ONE SIZE LARGER TIRES IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. AT 19500 MILES I REPLACED 4 BALL JOINTS, COMPLETE HEAVY DUTY DRAG LINK SYSTEM WITH NEW TIE ROD ENDS, NEW HD TRACK BAR, 4 NEW SHOCKS, NEW FRONT SPRINGS, HD STEERING DAMPER, TIRES MICRO BALANCED, WHEEL ALIGNMENT THAT LASTED ABOUT TWO MONTHS BEFORE IT DID IT AGAIN. I NOW HAVE 31,000 MILES ON IT AND STILL FIGHTING THE DEATH WOBBLE. I HAVE SPENT OVER A 1000 DOLLARS TO TRY AND FIX THIS. I BELIEVE THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO BECAUSE SOMEONE WILL GET KILLED. I THINK IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPEWED BACK ONTO THE CONTACT. THE FAILURE RECURRED EVERY TIME THE CONTACT REFUELED THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO PERFORMED AN INSPECTION AND ADVISED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO OFFERED TO COVER HALF OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,000. UPDATED 10/10/12 *CN
2006 JEEP WRANGLER - EXTREME FRONT END SHUTTER AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, USUALLY IN THE AREA OF 55MPH. THE SHUTTER IS SO BAD THE VEHICLE HAS TO BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY TO AVOID LOSS OF CONTROL. THIS HAS OCCURRED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK ALONE. THE DEALER CLAIMS IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE BUT THE PART IS OUT OF STOCK. THEY (JEEP) CALLS IT A SHIMMER, I* SAY IT IS A SHUTTER AND A LIFE SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
DEFECTIVE STEERING DAMPER REPLACED 7/24/2008, 8/5/2008 AND 10/1/2008. SEVER FRONT END WOBBLE AFTER HITTING A ROUGH PATCH OF ROAD OR A BUMP WITH A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED BUT WAS UNABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 43,000.
'06 JEEP WRANGLER LOOSES POWER, BUCKS, SHAKES AS OF 20,000MI. GAS GAGE SOMETIMES DOES NOT READ CORRECTLY, AC GOES WARM AT NEUTRAL, SMELLED BURNING, COULD NOT SHIFT PAST 1ST . HAS HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER. STALLS AND SHAKES INTERMITTINGLY DURING MOVING AND STOPPED POSITIONS. HAS A ROUGH IDLE, WHICH AT TIMES IS MORE SEVERE THAN OTHERS, BUT HAS NEVER DIED - JUST SHOOK SEVERELY A FEW TIMES. IT INTERMITTINGLY ACTS AS IF IT IS GOING TO LOOSE ALL POWER. THIS CAN OCCUR SEVERAL TIMES IN ONE DAY, 1 TIME DURING THE DAY OR NOT AT ALL FOR 1 OR SEVERAL DAYS IN A ROW. THERE IS NO SET PATTERN. IT OCCURS DURING COLD AND HOT WEATHER, WITH ELECTRICAL DEVICES ON OR OFF, IN NEUTRAL OR DRIVE, IF THE ENGINE HAS WARMED UP OR IS STILL COLD. HAVE TAKEN IT TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. DEALER TELLS ME SOMETHING IS WRONG BUT THEY ARE UNSURE OF WHAT. THEY HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TIMES TO REPLACE OR FIX PARTS WITH NO SUCCESS. CHRYSLER'S STAR MECHANICS ARE NOW WORKING ON IT. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE. DIES AT ALL SPEEDS, TIMES AND ROAD CONDITIONS. *TR
MY JEEP WRANGLER WOULD NOT START AT TIMES AND DID IT 4 TIMES ALL TOGETHER. I BOUGHT IT TO FAMILY JEEP IN CHADDS FORD PA AND THEY TOLD ME THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT EVEN LOOK AT IT BECAUSE CHRYSLER LIMITS WHAT THEY CAN DO. I ALSO HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING DAMPENER BREAKING AND THEY TOLD ME I WOULD BE TOLD WHEN THE PART WOULD ARRIVE. THAT WAS 9 DAY'S AGO AND TODAY I WAS TOLD THAT CHRYSLER DIDN'T HAVE THE PART IN STOCK AND ONE GUY HAS BEEN WAITING SINCE JUNE 5TH FOR THE SAME PART SO I SHOULDN'T EVEN COMPLAIN YET. I HAVE JUST PURCHASED THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR OVER$ 2,400.00 AND I FEEL LIKE A FOOL. THIS SAME PART IS ALSO AVAILABLE ON THE QUADRATEC.COM WEBSITE AND IN THEIR CATALOGS FOR ANYWHERE FROM $40.00 TO $123.00 BUT THEY WON'T EVEN GET IT OR INSTALL IT BECAUSE IT IS NOT A MOPAR PART. MY JEEP SHAKES VIOLENTLY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OF 45 OR MORE AND ALSO SHAKES VERY BAD WHEN BRAKING. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE AND I BELIEVE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE FIRST LANE. AS I WAS GOING DOWN, I FELT MY VEHICLE PULLING TO THE SIDE VERY SLIGHTLY, AND AT FIRST I PUT THE FEELING OFF AS ME OVERREACTING OVER SOMETHING OR IT WAS JUST THE ROAD BEING A LITTLE ROUGH. I WAS GOING AT HIGHWAY SPEED AROUND 75MPH, AND EVENTUALLY MY REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE RUPTURED EFFECTIVELY DESTROYING ALL OF THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE. I MANAGED TO STAY IN CONTROL AND PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER THE INCIDENT AND UPON CLOSER INSPECTION OF THE FAILED TIRE AT HOME, I FOUND THAT THE RUBBER PART WHERE THE VALVE STEM MEETS THE WHEEL OF THE TIRE WAS MOSTLY CRACKED ALMOST TO THE POINT OF DETACHMENT. I FEEL CERTAIN THAT THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF THE TIRE FAILURE, WHERE I LOST AIR PRESSURE CAUSING THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE TO GIVE AWAY AT HIGHWAY SPEED. I HAVE ALSO TAKEN PICTURES OF THE TIRE AND THE VALVE STEM DAMAGE IF NEEDED. *TR
JEEP WRANGLER FAN SPEED SELECTOR SWITCH IS A KNOWN ISSUE FROM THE "TJ" YEARS. THEY TYPICALLY BURN OUT THE FIRST 2 SPEEDS AND THE LAST 2 WILL WORK FOR A WHILE, AND ALSO FAIL LEAVING NO METHOD TO DEFROST OR CLEAR YOUR WINDOW. *TR
EVERY SINGLE TIME I FILL UP THE GAS TANK ON MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER TJ UNLIMITED, THE FUEL SHOOTS OUT OF THE TANK BECAUSE THE NOZZLE STOP MUST BE SET TO SHUT OFF HIGHER THAN THE JEEP FUEL TANK WILL ALLOW FOR IT TO FILL. I HAVE EVEN TRIED TO TRICKLE FUEL IN AT THE END OF THE FILL UP AND IT STILL SHOOTS FUEL EVERYWHERE. THIS IS AN EVERY FILL UP OCCURRENCE AND NOT JUST FROM TIME TO TIME.
EVER SINCE I BOUGHT MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON, I HAVE PROBLEMS WHEN REFUELING THE CAR. I BOUGHT MY CAR SECOND-HAND. IF I LEAVE THE GAS NOZZLE ON 'AUTO', THE AUTO-SHUTOFF OF THE PUMP SHUTS OFF TOO LATE, RESULTING IN A GUSH OF GASOLINE SQUIRTING OUT OF THE TANK. THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT ANY SPILLING OF GAS DURING FUELLING IS TO LISTEN TO THE NOISE THAT THE ESCAPING AIR OUT OF THE TANK MAKES, OR GUESSTIMATING ROUGHLY HOW MUCH GAS THE CAR NEEDS, THEN MANUALLY VERY SLOWLY CONTINUE TO FILL UP. *TR
CRACKED VALVE STEM CAUSED TIRE TO RAPIDLY DEFLATE ON EXPRESSWAY. AFTERMARKET TIRES AND WHEELS WERE PURCHASED IN MAY OF 2007 FROM DISCOUNT TIRE. *TR
BOUGHT A 06 JEEP WRANGLER THAT INTERMITTENTLY SHUTS OFF POWER WHILE AT SPEEDS GREATER THEN 50 MPH. IT IS A MANUAL, SO THE JERK ALMOST PUTS YOU IN THE WINDSHIELD. BUZZ LEONARD DEALERSHIP HAS FAILED TO CORRECT THIS MALFUNCTION 5 TIMES. THERE IS A GREAT DANGER DRIVING THIS CAR, BUT THEY DON'T SEEM TO CARE. *TR
I PURCHASED A PRE OWNED JEEP WRANGLER IN 1/08 AND HAD NO PROBLEMS UNTIL JUNE OF THIS YEAR I EXPERIENCE A VIOLENT SHAKING ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK ONE DAY AND THOUGHT I HAD BLOWN A TIRE OR HIT GRAVEL ON THE ROAD I CHECKED MY TIRES AND THERE WAS NOTHING ON THE ROAD I WAS BAFFLED IT HAPPENED AGAIN 2 WEEKS LATER AND I TOOK IT TO THE NEAREST JEEP DEALERSHIP I WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW STEERING DAMPER BUT THEY WERE ON SHORT SUPPLY (I KNOW WHY NOW) I THEN CALLED THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM AND WAS TOLD TO BRING IT IN FOR A REPLACEMENT PART TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORTER THEY HAVE REPLACED MY STEERING DAMPER 3 TIMES AND I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS VIOLENT SHAKING 5 TIMES THEY HAVE RELEASED MY CAR BACK TO ME ASSURING ME IT WAS FIXED. THEY NOW WANT TO PUT A HEAVY DUTY DAMPER ON MY JEEP STATING THIS WILL FIX IT I HAVE CONTACTED A LEMON LAW ATTORNEY AND SHE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM FOR ME SHE FOUND SEVERAL REPORTS FROM CONSUMERS AND TOLD ME THAT THE JEEP TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN SPECIFICALLY STATES HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM ON THE 2006 MODELS IT DESCRIBES IT AS A "SHIMMY" AND THEY ARE TO REPLACE THE STEERING DAMPER ON THE 2007 THEY DESCRIBE IT AS A "RUMBLE" AND GIVE A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT FIX FOR THIS OTHER THAN THE STEERING DAMPER I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP TODAY AND TOLD THEM THEY NEED TO FIND OUT WHAT REPLACEMENT IS FOR THE 2007 BECAUSE IT IS OBVIOUSLY NOT THE DAMPER I AM AT MY WITS END WITH THE VEHICLE I AM TERRIFIED TO DRIVE IT FOR ONE OF THESE TIMES I MAY ROLL IT AND CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO MYSELF CHRYSLER WILL NOT GIVE ME A LOANER UNTIL THIS PROBLEM IS FIXED I HOPE THIS HELPS IN YOUR INVESTIGATION FOR THERE IS SOMETHING DANGEROUSLY WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE THANKS MARTI MULHOLLAND *TR

2006 JEEP WRANGLER: AT ABOUT 11,500 MILES, I NOTICED THAT A SHUDDER STARTED TO DEVELOP IN MY FRONT END AND WOULD VIBRATE UP THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL AT AROUND 45 MPH. IT DOES NOT OCCUR BELOW 40 MPH OR ABOVE 50 MPH. NOW, AT 12,000 MILES, I HAVE A VIOLENT SHUDDER AT 45 MPH, THAT IT FEELS LIKE I'M ABOUT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS MORNING IT WAS SO BAD THAT I HAD TO BRAKE IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR IN THE LANE NEXT TO ME. TO ME THIS SEEMS LIKE AN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. I HAVE CALLED MY JEEP SERVICE MANAGER AND I AM CURRENTLY WAITING FOR A CALL BACK TO GET MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE. PLEASE NOTE. THIS VEHICLE IS 100 % STOCK FROM THE DEALER AND HAS HAD NO MODIFICATIONS, NOR HAS IT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS. *TR
2006 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER STATES SHIFT CABLE BUSHING BROKE WHICH CAUSED THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER TO BE INOPERABLE. *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE SHIFT CABLE FAILED TWICE. *JB
WHEN VEHICLE IS BEING FUELED UP, GAS LEAKS OUT OF TANK AND SPILLS. SEEMS THE CHECK VALVE IS STUCK OF BROKEN. I MUST MAKE SURE I STOP FILLING BEFORE IT GETS FULL SO IT DOESN'T SPILL. *TR
FRONT BRAKES ON MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER WITH 8785 MILES ON IT VIBRATE VIOLENTLY WHEN MAKING A SUDDEN STOP AT SPEEDS AROUND 50-60 MILES. DURING A SUDDEN STOP THE STEERING WHEEL WAS ALMOST RIPPED FROM MY HANDS. TOOK THE WRANGLER TO THE DEALER. DEALER STATED THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT WARRANT WEAR ITEMS. DEALER MACHINED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS. TEST DROVE AND BRAKES WORKED OK. MY CONCERN IS FOR MY SAFETY. WITH MACHINED ROTORS NOW THE ROTORS ARE THINNER (WEAKER) THEN BEFORE. *TR
2006 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON - PROBLEM STARTED TO OCCUR AT 49K MILES(COULD HAVE BEEN EARLIER-I BOUGHT THE CAR AT THIS MILEAGE, 2ND OWNER). GAS WOULD SPIT/FLOW OUT OF THE FILL PORT BEFORE THE PUMP CLICKS OFF FOR FULL. IT ALWAYS GOES ON YOUR HANDS, CLOTHES, FLOOR AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE JEEP. AT 52K(CURRENTLY HAVE 84K) IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME NOW. SO NOW YOU HAVE TO PUT YOUR EAR CLOSE TO THE GAS TANK AND LISTEN FOR IT TO BECOME ALMOST FULL, AND STOP PUMPING QUICKLY BEFORE IT OVERFILLS AND SPITS OUT.(THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO GET A FULL TANK) ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, IF THERE IS A LOT OF AMBIENT NOISE, YOU WILL MISS THE "ALMOST FULL" SOUNDS AND IT'LL SPRAY GASOLINE ON YOUR FACE/CLOTHES. I'M SICK OF DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE, IM OUT OF WARRANTY, SO DEALER IS NO HELP. ALSO WHEN TRAVELING TO NJ, THE GAS ATTENDANTS ARE FULL SERVE ONLY BY LAW, AND THEY COMPLAIN TO ME EVERY TIME I NEED TO GET GAS IN NJ. IT SPITS GAS ALL OVER THE ATTENDANT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, I GET GAS ON MY SKIN ALMOST EVERY TIME I'M REFUELING THE JEEP. CHRYSLER/JEEP NEEDS TO DO A RECALL. THERE ARE THOUSANDS+ OF THESE COMPLAINTS. *TR
WHEN I FILL UP FUEL TANK, AS I GET CLOSE TO FULL, GAS SPITS OUT OF TANK, ALSO HAPPENS IF I RELAEASE FUEL PUMP HANDLE. HAVE HAD TANK REPLACED. WORK OK FOR ABOUT A YEAR, NOW IT SPITS GAS AGAIN. *TT
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE VEHICLE IS A RIGHT HAND RIDE JEEP. AT 9,000 MILES, THE CONTACT HAD TO REPLACE THE HEATING SWITCHES AND WIRING HARNESS. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY DISMANTLED THE DASHBOARD. THEY NOTICED SEVERAL MALFUNCTIONS AND REPLACED A NUMBER OF WIRING HARNESSES IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE HEATING SWITCHES. RECENTLY, THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE RETURNED TO THE DEALER DUE TO ALTERNATOR FAILURE. THE ALTERNATOR SENT SO MUCH HEAT TO THE BATTERY THAT IS CAUSED THE WATER TO BOIL. SULFURIC ACID SPILLED ALL OVER THE FIREWALL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS SENDING CURRENTS OF UP TO 19 VOLTS TO THE BATTERY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000. UPDATED 05/21/08 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED HE REPLACED THE HEATER SWITCH 3 TIMES, THE ALTERNATOR AND STARTER WERE REPLACED AS WELL. THE DEFROSTER WAS INOPERATIVE. UPDATED 05/20/08
WHEN FILLING GAS TANK, FUEL GUSHES (NOT A DROP, NOT A TRICKLE, RATHER A VIOLENT EXPULSION OF FUEL) FROM THE FILL NECK. MANY JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS REPORT THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
EVERY TIME WE FILL UP THE FUEL TANK THE FUEL SPILLS OVER AND RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE CAUSING A STAIN ON THE PAINT WE HAVE NOW RESORTED TO LISTENING TO THE FUEL AS IT FILLS IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP IT AND THAT ONLY WORKS ONCE IN A WHILE WE HAVE PUT THE PUMP ON SLOW BUT THIS DOES NO GOOD EITHER I HAVE READ MANY JEEP FORUMS AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM NOT ONLY DOES IT WASTE FUEL BUT IT IS AN AIR POLLUTION ISSUE AND A FIRE SAFETY HAZARD MOST OF THE FORUMS SAY THE FUEL TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A STICKING VALVE BUT THAT IS VERY EXPENSIVE (THIS IS WHAT SOME HAVE HAD TO DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM) ALSO I OWN TWO JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH EITHER OF THEM SO I WAS SURPRISED WHEN THIS HAPPENED ON THE WRANGLER AS IT WAS THE MOST RECENT PURCHASE IF IT IS A DEFECT IN DESIGN I THINK CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX IT AT NO CHARGE TO THE CONSUMER BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT. *TT
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE VEHICLE HAS GOODYEAR WRANGLER GSA TIRES, SIZE 225/70/R15 (NA). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY. THE MALFUNCTION CAUSED STEERING DIFFICULTY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE PROCEEDED TO A COMPLETE STOP AND BEGAN TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE AND NOTICED BLISTERING ON THE SIDEWALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO BLISTERING OF A DEFECTIVE TIRE. THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE WAS REPLACED FOR FREE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR THE SAME FAILURE FOR THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE; HOWEVER, THEY REFUSED TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE REPAIR. THE DEFECTIVE TIRE HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,118.

AS TIME WENT ON, CONDITION WORSENED AND AT CURRENT TIME, FUEL NOZZLE AT STATION CAN ONLY BE HELD OPEN HALF WAY OR AN AUTOMATIC NOZZLE SHUTOFF OCCURS, REGARDLESS OF TANK LEVEL. FUEL SPILLAGE HAPPENS AT EVERY REFUELING STOP, REGARDLESS OF NOZZLE FLOW POSITION, WHEN FULL TANK CONDITION IS REACHED. *TR
THE RIGHT SIDE HOOD LATCH HAS FAILED 4 TIMES IN THE SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE JEEP WHICH WAS PURCHASED NEW IN JUNE 2006. THIS IS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ALLOWS THE HOOD TO LIFT AND PLACING ALL OF THE LOAD ON THE EXISTING LEFT HOOD LATCH. THIS CAUSES THE HOOD TO BEND BUT MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY IF THE LEFT LATCH FAILS WOULD ALLOW THE HOOD TO LIFT AN OBSCURE THE WINDSHIELD. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. LATCH HAS BEEN REPLACE BY JEEP DEALER UNDER MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. *TR
THE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED, MORE VIOLENTLY THE FASTER THE VEHICLE WAS GOING. I HAD THIS CHECKED AT A BRAKE SHOP FIRST, WHERE THEY SAID THE PADS WERE FINE, BUT THE ROTOR WAS WARPED. I THEN TOOK IT TO THE TIRE SHOP TO HAVE THE TIRES ROTATED AND BALANCED, ALTHOUGH THIS WAS ALSO JUST DONE A FEW MONTHS PRIOR. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER SINCE THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 23000 MILES ON IT. NOT ONLY DID MY DEALER NOT WARRANTY THE PROBLEM, THEY WANTED TO PUT A "MAKE IT NEW KIT" ON FOR $355, PERFORM DIFFERENTIAL SERVICE $121, DRAIN AND REFILL REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID $121, AND ROTATE AND BALANCE TIRES (BECAUSE THEY LISTENED TO NOTHING I TOLD THEM) FOR $49.95 FOR A GRAND TOTAL OF $671.90. WHEN I TOLD HIM I WOULD TAKE IT ELSEWHERE, I WAS CHARGED FOR THE ESTIMATE $24.95. I WAS ALSO TOLD BY MY SERVICE ADVISOR THAT HE OR HIS MANAGER SAW NO REPORTS ON THIS WEB SITE. HMMMM....MINE IS THE 6TH SUCH CASE ON HERE. I JUST WONDER HOW MANY THERE ARE THAT HAVE NOT BEEN REPORTED? THIS IS MY FOURTH WRANGLER AND I'VE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO RUDELY IN MY LIFE. A WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND REMAINED LIT UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED, WHICH RESULTED IN A CRASH. THERE WERE NO INJURIES; HOWEVER, THREE VEHICLES WERE DAMAGED. THE POLICE WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE AND IS CURRENTLY INOPERABLE. NO REPAIRS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,596 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 3,273.

2006 JEEP WRANGLER REPLACED BRAKES. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE BRAKE BACKING PLATES WERE REPLACED DUE TO DAMAGE. HE STATES THAT THE VEHICLE BECAME STUCK IN A SNOWDRIFT AND AFTER BEING SHOVELED OUT THE BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. *KB THE DEALER STATED THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS BLOWN AND THE BRAKE PADS WERE RUINED DUE TO DRIVING WITH THE BRAKES BEING FROZEN. Unrecalled, unreplaced TAKATA air bags. This particular Jeep has been operated in high temperature/high humidity conditions and which was known to the manufacturers to cause potentially fatal injuries to the driver and front seat passenger. The truck was built by Daimler Chrysler (2006), and neither they, nor the successor companies Fiat/Chrysler and Stellantis have made no efforts whatsoever to contact the owners (I am the original owner from day 1) to effect repair or replacement of the defective air bags and initiator units. The unit was extensively operated in the Paris , Texas area for 2-1/2 years in extremely high humidity/hot temperatures in normal service. They should be considered compromised by your own tests done in the 2006-2012 period.

THERE ARE NO CRASH TEST RATINGS FOR THE REAR OCCUPANTS IN JEEP WRANGLERS. PASSENGERS ARE EXTREMELY VULNERABLE IN THE BACK SEAT SINCE THERE IS NO PROTECTION EXCEPT THE ROLL BAR BUT IF THEY ARE REAR-ENDED, THE OTHER CAR COULD SIMPLY HIT THE BACK SEAT DIRECTLY. THERE IS NO NECK PROTECTION AS THE SEAT IS TOO SHORT. WHEN CHILDREN RIDE BACK THERE, THEY ARE BASICALLY UNPROTECTED. THIS SITUATION NEEDS TO BE ADVERTISED SO PEOPLE DON'T ASSUME IT IS SAFE TO HAVE PASSENGERS, ESPECIALLY CHILDREN IN THE BACK OF JEEP WRANGLERS. THE BACK SEAT IS ONLY DESIGNED FOR CARGO, NOT PEOPLE! DURING GAS FILL UPS, GASOLINE WILL SHOOT OUT OF THE FILL NOZZLE WHEN THE TANK REACHES FULL. THIS CAUSES GASOLINE TO SPILL TO THE GROUND. THE AMOUNT VARIES FROM A DRIBBLE TO ABOUT A CUP. SLOWING THE FILL RATE TOWARDS THE END OF THE FILL WILL GENERALLY PREVENT THE SPILLAGE BUT IS NOT GUARANTEED. THIS IS AN EVERY FILL UP OCCURRENCE. *TR

I BOUGHT MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON NEW FROM A DEALERSHIP. AFTER ABOUT TWO YEARS I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH FUEL SPITTING PUT OF THE GAS FILLER WHEN FILLING UP AT A GAS STATION. THIS IS MY WIFE'S VEHICLE AND SHE COMPENSATED BY NOT FILLING IT FULL BY SHUTTING THE FUEL PUMP OFF BEFORE THE HANDLE WOULD CLICK. OVER THE YEARS I HAVE MENTIONED IT TO DEALERSHIPS AND REPAIR SHOPS AND NO ONE EVER HEARD OF IT. IT IS AT A DEALERSHIP NOW FOR ANOTHER ISSUE AND AGAIN I MENTIONED THE GAS SPITTING OUT OF THE GAS NECK AND RUNNING DOWN THE JEEP SIDE AND GETTING ME WET. THEY SAID THEY KNOW ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THAT JEEP AND NHTSA HAD ADDRESSED THE ISSUE IN A COMPROMISE BY JEEP OFFERING AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON 2007 AND 2008 MODELS AND JEEP SENT OUT COMMUNICATIONS TO THAT EFFECT. SINCE I HAVE A 2006, I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTIFICATION ABOUT THE FUEL OVERFLOW PROBLEM, UNTIL NOW. I CONTACTED JEEP AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE BUT REFUSED TO ADDRESS IT. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM IN THAT NOT ONLY IS IT DAMAGING MY PAINT AND WHEEL WELL FLARES BUT ALSO SPILLING GAS ON THE GROUND CREATING AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD AS DEFINED AND REGULATED BY THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY, AS WELL AS SPLASHING ONTO THE PERSON FILLING THE JEEP COVERING THEM IN FLAMMABLE CHEMICALS AND EXPOSING THEM TO LONG-TERM HEALTH ISSUES THROUGH INHALATION AND SKIN ABSORPTION AS ADDRESSED BY THE NATIONAL INSTITUTES OF HEALTH.

I LOOK AROUND AND NOTICED A CRACK IN MY WINDSHIELD COMING FROM UNDER THE BOTTOM SEAL. I CALLED MY DEALERSHIP WHICH THEY TOLD ME IT WAS PROBABLY A CHIP THAT EXPANDED. I BROUGHT IT DOWN AND FOUGHT WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THIS SHOULD HAVE NOT HAPPENED EVEN IF THERE WAS A CHIP IN THE WINDOW BECAUSE EVERY CAR THAT HAS A CHIP AND TURNS THEIR DEFROSTER ON SHOULD DO THE SAME THING. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME I HAD TO PAY FOR THE WINDOW AND THAT IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN. I CAN BE DRIVING IN CITY LIMITS AT 25 MPH AND IT WILL DO ALL THE SAME THINGS SHAKES, ROCKS, MOVES UNCONTROLLABLY TO ALL DIRECTIONS. IT OCCURS MORE THAN 10 TIMES A MONTH. I TOOK MY JEEP WRANGLER TO THE JEEP AGENCY AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE BREAKS SO I TOLD THEM OK FIX IT. THEY CALLED ME TO PICK UP MY CAR THAT IT WAS READY. SO I DRIVE ON TO GET ON THE EXPRESSWAY AS SOON AS I GET TO 25MPH THE CAR SHOWS THE SAME PROBLEM. I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REFUNDED MY MONEY AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULDN'T FIGURE IT OUT AND THEY SUGGESTED THAT I TAKE IT TO ANOTHER DEALER THAT ISN'T JEEP. I OWN A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER X WITH 9,060 MILES. I HAVE GOODYEAR GS-A TIRES. I AM REPLACING MY SECOND TIRE ON THE JEEP IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS. THIS TIRE HAS A "SIDEWALL FAILURE" AND MUST BE REPLACED. I ALSO HAVE OWNED A 2001 JEEP WRANGLER. I PUT 24,000 MILES ON THAT CAR BUT HAD TO REPLACE 3 GOODYEAR TIRES SIMILAR TO THE GS-A'S. THE LATEST INCIDENT INVOLVING MY JEEP AND GOODYEAR TIRES TRANSPIRED TWO DAYS AGO. I NOTICED THE TIRE WAS LOSING AIR BEFORE I GOT BEHIND THE WHEEL. CONSIDERING I WAS ABOUT TO DRIVE ON A HIGHWAY, IT MAY HAVE BEEN RECIPE FOR DISASTER. I PUT AIR BACK INTO THE TIRE AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO A SEARS AUTOMOTIVE CENTER. THE MECHANICS INFORMED ME THAT THE TIRE HAD A "SIDEWALL FAILURE" AND WAS UNFIXABLE. SEARS DID STATE THAT THE TIRES HAD LITTLE TO NO WEAR ON THEM AND WERE "LIKE NEW". I CONTACTED GOODYEAR PERTAINING TO THE ISSUES. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE WAS NOT ENTIRELY HELPFUL. I GAVE MY HISTORY WITH THE GOODYEAR TIRES AND THE JEEP WRANGLER TO GOODYEAR. I WAS TOLD TO SEEK A SECOND OPINION BY GOODYEAR. I HAD ANOTHER GOODYEAR RETAILER LOOK AT THE TIRE WITH THE SAME RESULT. I CONTACTED GOODYEAR AGAIN. GOODYEAR WAS QUITE UNHELPFUL AND I FELT "BLOWN OFF". I SINCERELY HAVE A CONCERN THAT EVERY TIME I GET IN MY JEEP ONE OF MY TIRES MAY BECOME DAMAGED. JEEP WRANGLERS ARE AN SUV, SO THE CHANCES OF ROLLOVER ARE HIGHER. THE FIRST TIRE THAT WENT ON MY CURRENT 2006 JEEP WRANGLER ALMOST CASED ME TO SPIN OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. THAT INCIDENT TRANSPIRED IN SEPTEMBER OF 2006. I AM HOPING THAT THIS COMPLAINT WILL INSPIRE SOME SORT OF INVESTIGATION INTO THE PRODUCT, GOODYEAR DID NOT SEEM INTERESTED IN DOING SO.
