2006 WRANGLER UNLIMITED (RUBICON) OVERFILLS WITH GASOLINE BEFORE THE PUMP STOPS. ABOUT A CUP OF FUEL, DOES NOT MATTER WHICH GAS STATION OR HOW FAST THE TANK IS FILLED. IT HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE I PURCHASED IT FROM JEEP DEALER IN 2013.

JUST PURCHASED THIS JEEP FROM A DEALERSHIP AND WHEN I FILL UP THE TANK WITH GAS IT OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME SPILLING GAS ALL OVER THE GROUND AND OVER THE DRIVERS REAR QUARTER PANEL. IT IS HARD TO STOP THE OVERFLOW DUE TO THE GAS COMING OUT, DANGER OF FUEL GETTING ON MY CLOTHES WHICH THEN MAKES ME FLAMMABLE AND SMELL LIKE FUEL. THERE IS ALWAYS THE DANGER OF FUEL GETTING IN MY EYES AS WELL, I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH THIS FLAW. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT ALL OF THE 2005 AND 2006 JEEP OWNERS SHOULD HAVE TO DISH OUT $900 FOR A NEW FUEL TANK THAT WILL FAIL AGAIN ANYWAY BECAUSE THE ICV VALVE WILL JUST FAIL AGAIN. THIS IS A STATIONARY ISSUE WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK. CAN'T BELIEVE THAT SPILLING GAS ON THE GROUND EVERY TIME IS THAT GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT.
I CALLED MCDONALD CHRYSLER IN CLARE MICHIGAN(624 W. 5TH ST., CLARE MICHIGAN 48617, 1-989-386-7779) I CALLED THEM ABOUT 6-7 MONTHS AGO WHEN I FIRST GOT MY FIRST RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD THE PART SO I SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THEM AND WHEN I GOT THERE THEY TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST THAT THEY HAD HEAD OF THIS RECALL AND SAID THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER THE PART AND WOULD CALL ME WHEN THEY GOT THE PART IN. WELL ON 22 FEBRUARY 2016 I RECEIVED A 3RD NOTICE AND STILL HAVEN'T HEARD BACK FROM THEM. YOU WOULD THINK THAT WITH THIS BEING A SAFETY RECALL THAT THEY WOULD GET OFF THEIR BUTTS TO FIX THIS ISSUE. MY RECALL IS ABOUT THE CLUTCH INTERLOCK SWITCH(R13/NHTSA15V-22). I DO PLAN TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP.
THE HEATER FAN SPEED SWITCH STARTS FAILING BY ONLY WORKING ON HIGH SPEED. THEN IT QUITS COMPLETELY. I HAVE HAD THE WHOLE UNIT REPLACED BEFORE ABOUT 3 YEARS AGO. IT JUST DID EXACTLY THE SAME THING AGAIN AND I HAVE HAD IT REPLACED AGAIN. THIS TIME THE REPLACEMENT UNIT DOESN'T ALLOW ME TO CHANGE THE LOCATION OF WHERE THE HEAT COMES OUT. IT IS STUCK ON THE DEFROSTER.
WAS DELIVERING MAIL STARTED TO SMELL SOMETHING GOT OUT TO CHECK PACKAGE GOT BACK IN SMOKE WAS COMING FROM VENTS AROUND DASH AREA WENT FOR HELP WHEN RETURNING TO VEHICLE IT WAS IN FLAME TRIED TO SALVAGE AS MUCH MAIL AS POSSIBLE AND IT BURNED COMPLETELY
RECALL NUMBER R13/NHTSA15V-222 CLUTCH INTERLOCK SWITCH - THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING IS WE MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH WESTBURY JEEP NEW YORK TO HAVE THIS TAKEN CARE OF THEY KEPT THE CAR FOR THREE DAYS AND COULD NOT REPAIR IT. WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT GET THE PART. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF WESTBURY JEEP INEPT IN PROVIDING THE REQUIRED SERVICE TO CORRECT THIS, HAD A TOTAL DISREGARD FOR THE NEEDS OF THE CUSTOMER TO GET THIS REPAIRED IN A TIMELY FASHION AND WHAT WAS DISAPPOINTING THEY HAD NO IDEA ON A PART THAT THEY MANUFACTURED HOW TO GET A HOLD OF IT. AS A RESULT WE TOOK THE CAR HOME WITH OUT GETTING THIS REPAIRED. AS SUCH I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT THIS DEALERSHIP FOR FAILING TO REMEDY AND PROVIDE PROPER CUSTOMER SERVICE!
WHILE FUELING MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER, THE FUEL FAILED TO STOP DISPENSING WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL. THIS RESULTED IN FUEL SPEWING OUT FROM THE TANK. THE FUEL GOT ON ME AS WELL AS THE JEEP AND THE IMMEDIATE SURROUNDING AREAS. I HAVE FUELED THE JEEP AT MULTIPLE GAS STATIONS WITH THE SAME RESULT. FUEL SPILLING OUT FROM THE TANK IS A SERIOUS FIRE, ENVIRONMENTAL, AND HEALTH HAZARD. AFTER REVIEWING THE NHTSA'S WEBSITE AS WELL AS OTHER REPUTABLE SOURCES, THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM/COMPLAINT. I'M AWARE THAT THE 2007 AND NEWER JEEPS HAVE A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I FAILED TO REALIZE HOW SUCH A COMMON AND SERIOUS PROBLEM CAN BE IGNORED IN THE 2006 JEEPS.
THE JEEP HAS WHAT HAS BEEN TERMED THE JEEP DEATH WOBBLE. THE JEEP IS ALL STOCK, NOT LIFTED AT ALL. I HAVE FIRED THE PARTS CANNON AT THE JEEP...ALL THE WORK HAS BEEN PERFORMED BY FACTORY TRAINED TECHNICIANS USING OE PARTS. I HAVE CHANGED THE TIRES TWICE IN 20,000 MILES. THE JEEP GETS A TERRIBLE WOBBLE ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55MPH (SPEED LIMIT ON 465 IN INDIANAPOLIS) AND CAN ONLY BE BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL BY STOPPING THE VEHICLE. EVEN THOUGH I HAVE NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT CAUSED BY THE EXCESSIVE WOBBLE, IT IS DEFINITELY NOT SAFE TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP ON THE HIGHWAY. IT'S NOT ALWAYS EASY TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD ON A BUSY INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. THE FUEL FILLER NECK OFTEN OVERFLOWS WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK ALSO. THERE WAS A RECALL ON SOME JEEPS FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. HOWEVER, THE JEEP DEALERSHIP SAID MY SPECIFIC JEEP DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR THE FIXING OF THE ISSUE. IT IS DEFINITELY NOT SAFE TO HAVE A FUEL FILLER NECK THAT DOESN'T STOP THE FUEL NOZZLE FROM FLOWING.

WHEN SITTING STILL WITH THE ENGINE OFF AND PUTTING GAS IN MY 06 JEEP WRANGLER, THE GAS PUMP DOES NOT KICK OFF QUICK ENOUGH WHEN THE TANK IS FULL AND SPILLS GAS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND ONTO THE GROUND CREATING A VERY DANGEROUS FIRE HAZARD - IF YOU ARE NOT STANDING BACK, IT WILL SPLASH GAS ONTO YOUR CLOTHES WHICH COULD BE A DANGEROUS PERSONAL HAZARD WITH THE POTENTIAL OF BURNS TO A PERSONS BODY. GETTING IN AND OUT OF A VEHICLE PRODUCES STATIC ELECTRICITY AND COULD BE ENOUGH TO START A FIRE WITH THE JEEP AND POTENTIAL DANGER TO PEOPLE AND PROPERTY. THE JEEP WILL "BURP" GAS EVERYTIME THAT YOU FILL IT - THIS HAS HAPPENED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. I DO NOT EVEN FILL THE TANK AND LET THE PUMP KICK OFF ANYMORE FOR THIS REASON - IT IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION IF YOU WAIT FOR THE PUMP TO KICK OFF.
IN ONE EXAMPLE OUT OF MANY ENGINE CUTS OUT COMPLETELY, VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN THEN CUTS BACK IN. 15 TIMES, THEN ENGINE CUTS OUT AND STALLS. LEAVING ME IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION ON THE FREEWAY. ALL THIS DURING A 40 MILE TRIP.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP, THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED VIOLENTLY INTO SECOND GEAR. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV RAPIDLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ONLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS INITIALLY STARTED OR WHENEVER THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE PCM WAS REPROGRAMMED. THREE WEEKS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE PCM WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED NINE MONTHS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE, WHEN THE TANK IS FULL AND THE GASOLINE NOZZLE SHUTS OFF, APPROXIMATELY ONE CUP OF GASOLINE COMES OUT OF THE VEHICLE FILLER TUBE AND SPRAYS THE AREA AROUND THE FILLER INLET AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS EVENT OCCURS REGARDLESS OF THE RATE OF FUEL FLOW. THIS EVENT OCCURS WHEN THE FILLER NOZZLE TURNS OFF AUTOMATICALLY OR WHEN THE USER MANUALLY CONTROLS THE RATE OF FUEL. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED BY FCA AS A DEFECT IN A PLASTIC VALVE LOCATED IN THE VEHICLE'S FUEL TANK THAT REACTS NEGATIVELY WITH GASOLINE ADDITIVES, SPECIFICALLY ETHANOL. FCA DOES NOT CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE. AS THE VEHICLE OWNER, I CONSIDER THE FACT THAT THE VEHICLE SPEWS GASOLINE OUT AT ME WHILE REFUELING TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE AND REQUEST THAT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION TAKES STEPS TO REQUIRE FCA TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOMEONE IS BURNED. WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL SPLASHES BACK AT NEAR FULL. THE FUEL LEAKS DOWN THE PLASTIC FUEL DOOR AREA AND ONTO THE PAINTED FINISH ON THE BODY. I HAVE HAD IT SPLASH BACK ONTO MYSELF, ALSO. THERE IS SUPPOSEDLY A FAULTY FLAPPER VALVE INSIDE THE FILLER HOSE BEFORE THE FUEL ENTERS THAT TANK. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE ON THE 97-06 WRANGLERS.

THE FILLER NECK DOESN'T CLOSE FAST ENOUGH WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, THUS RESULTING IN GAS SPEWING OUT ONTO THE JEEP (CONSEQUENTLY FADING ANY FENDER YOU HAVE INSTALLED) AND ONTO YOUR PERSON. AS PER SEVERAL CAR MECHANICS' CONSULTATIONS, THE ETHANOL IN GAS IS/HAS ERODED THE FILLER NECK AND IT CAN'T CLOSE IN TIME. APPARENTLY THE ISSUE WAS ADDRESSED IN LATER MODELS OF THE JEEP WRANGLER. IT IS A NEARLY $600 FIX (INCLUDING LABOR). TEMPORARY SOLUTION: ONLY PUT ABOUT $25 IN THE GAS TANK AT A TIME (WHICH IS INCONVENIENT IS YOU ARE CONSTANTLY TRAVELING).

2006 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED AFTER GETTING FUEL FILLED I PULL OUT OF STATION AND IT STARTS HESITATING AND THEN STALLS IN MIDDLE OF STREET. IT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT FROM CAR BEHIND ME I HAD TO RESTART AND IT WOULD STALL AND BOG FEW MORE TIMES THEN RUN OK. TODAY I FUELED UP AND PULLED OUT OF STATION AT A 6 LANE DIVIDED ROAD WITH AN INTERSTATE WITH ON AND OFF RAMPS BOTH SIDES SO I HAD ONLY 100 FEET TO CROSS THREE LANES TO GET INTO LEFT TURN LANE FOR INTERSTATE AS THIS LANE GOES UNDER AND AT LIGHT TURNS LEFT TO ON RAMP, JUST TO GIVE YOU INSIGHT ON SITUATION, I FUEL UP PULL OUT AND IT SHUTS OFF CARS HAVE TO STOP I AM IN MIDDLE OF THREE LANE DEAD IN THE WATER IT STARTS BACK UP AND I PULL UP THANK GOD A SAFE DISTANCE TO CAR IN FRONT OF ME AND IT BOGS DOWN AND THE SURGES MAKING THE JEEP THRUST FORWARD HAD TO BRAKE HARD NO ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED BUT GOD FORBID IT COULD HAVE PLEASE RESEARCH THIS. *TR

WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK THE FUEL FILLER HOSE FAILS TO STOP THE FLOW OF FUEL COMING BACK OUT OF THE TANK. THIS RESULTS IN FUEL SPILLING ON THE GROUND AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT OPENED THE PANELING AND NOTICED THAT THE WIRES AND VARIOUS COMPONENTS WERE MELTED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE GROUND WIRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND FURTHER INSPECTION WAS REQUIRED TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.

GAS TANK OVERFLOWS AT THE GAS PUMP, SPITING FUEL EVERYWHERE. ALSO WHILE FILLING, THE PUMP CONSTANTLY SHUTS OFF AS IF THE FILL NECK OF THE JEEP IS OVERFLOWING. CAR BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE WHEN I HIT A POTHOLE ON THE FREEWAY GOING 65MPH. SEAT BELT PINNED ME TO SEAT SO I COULDN'T SAFELY TURN AROUND TO CHANGE LANES TO GET OFF FREEWAY. IT WAS DARK OUTSIDE AND VERY DANGEROUS. THIS PROBLEM IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND KNOWN AS THE DEATH WOBBLE. IT WAS TAKEN THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED RIGHT AFTER IT HAPPENED. THEY REPLACED THE STEERING STABILIZER, BUT 5 WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR I HAVE ONLY OWNED FOR 7 MONTHS. *TR
