I JUST BOUGHT THIS JEEP USED. I WAS FILLING IT UP AT THE GAS STATION WAITING FOR THE PUMP TO CLICK OFF. WELL, IT DIDN'T. THE GAS SPEWED OUT OF THE FILLER NECK. I THOUGHT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A FAULTY PUMP. THE SECOND TIME I FILLED IT UP, IT DID IT AGAIN, AT A DIFFERENT STATION. THIS TIME I THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE SOMETHING THE PREVIOUS OWNER DID. IT DID IT AGAIN TONIGHT AT A THIRD STATION. I LOOKED UP THE CONDITION ON THE INTERNET AND LOW AND BEHOLD, IT IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH MY MODEL YEAR. THIS VEHICLE IS A 2006. WE ARE NOW IN 2014. 8 YEARS AFTER PRODUCTION OF THIS VEHICLE. WHY HASN'T THE MANUFACTURE RECALLED THESE VEHICLES FOR A FIX. SURELY THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. GAS SPEWING OUT OF THE TANK????? OBVIOUSLY THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS YET YOU GUYS ARE IGNORING THEM. YOU FILL UP WITH GAS AND AT TOP OFF IT SPITS GAS OUT THAT GETS ALL OVER THE PERSON FILLING CLOTHES. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT YOU NEED TO GET OFF YOUR ASSES AND GET THIS PROBLEM RESOLVED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE RECENTLY AND FILLED UP 5 TIMES AND THIS OCCURRED EVERYTIME. FIX IT! *TR
FUEL SPILLAGE AT THE PUMP. BELCHES GAS OUT AFTER THE PUMP CLICKS OFF. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK THE PUMP CUTS OFF TO LATE AND CREATES SPLASH BACK AND POURS GASOLINE ON THE GROUND AND ALL OVER WHOEVER IS NEAR BY. *TR
FUEL PUMP WILL NOT SHUT OFF WHEN THE TANK IS FULL RESULTING IN GASOLINE SPILLED ON THE VEHICLE AND ALL OVER THE GROUND. *TR
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V322000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
FUEL SPILLS ALL OVER, EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK. *TR
I WAS FUELING THE VEHICLE AND THE AUTOMATIC FUEL SHUT OFF VALVE OR WHATEVER IS INSIDE THE FUEL TANK MALFUNCTIONED. FUEL EJECTED FROM WITHIN THE FILL NECK AND WAS PROPELLED ONTO MY FACE AND IN MY EYES! I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS HAPPEN WITH ANY VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED OR FUELED. I WAS STANDING ADJACENT TO MY VEHICLE AS MOST DO WHEN GETTING GAS, I HEARD THE GAS GURGLE LIKE IT NORMALLY DOES, THE PUMP CLICKED OFF AND A SECOND LATER MY EYES WERE SLAMMED SHUT AND BURNING. AFTER RESEARCHING THE ISSUE I HAVE COME TO FIND THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND HAS ACTUALLY TAKEN STEPS TO CORRECT IT IN 2007 AND NEWER VEHICLES. I DON'T KNOW TO WHAT EXTENT THAT IS TRUE BUT THIS IS A HUGE HAZARD. THERE IS SOME PLASTIC VALVING WITHIN THE FILLER NECK THAT FAILS TO KEEP FUEL WITHIN THE TANK AND IT IS APPARENTLY ADVERSELY AFFECTED BY THE ETHANOL MIXTURE IN GASOLINE. THAT'S THE EXPLANATION ON MANY WEB SITES. I DON'T CARE WHAT CAUSES THE ISSUE BUT IT IS A POOR, DANGEROUS DESIGN. IF IT WAS A FREAK ISSUE THEN I WOULD TAKE IT IN STRIDE BUT TO FIND THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF IT AND DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT FOR MY MODEL YEAR IS APPALLING. THIS IS AN ISSUE OF A HIGHLY FLAMMABLE FUEL UNDER PRESSURE BEING PROJECTED UPWARDS TOWARD ANYONE FUELING A VEHICLE AND IT'S MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE NHTSA RECEIVED A REPORT FROM CHRYSLER THAT THE ISSUE EXISTED YET THEY WERE NOT REQUIRED TO RECALL ANY AND ALL VEHICLES EXPERIENCING THE ISSUE. GASOLINE IN THE EYES IS VERY PAINFUL. PERIOD. I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE FROM THE GAS STATION AND HAD TO HAVE ANOTHER MOTORIST MOVE MY VEHICLE FROM THE PUMPS. MY DAUGHTER ROUTINELY STANDS BY ME WHEN "DADDY DOES THINGS" AND I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW I WOULD HAVE FELT IF SHE WAS THERE THAT DAY. IN MY OPINION, YOUR AGENCY WAS DEVELOPED IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE MOTORING PUBLIC FROM THIS VERY TYPE OF POOR DESIGN IN THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY AND I TRUST THAT YOU WILL MAKE IT RIGHT. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ACROSS A BRIDGE, AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, AFTER HITTING A BUMP THE STEARING WHEEL STARTED TO WOBBLE GREATLY. HAD TO SLOW THE VEHICLE TO APPROX. 30 MPH TO GET IT TO STOP WOBBLING. WHEN I INCREASED SPEED THE SYMPTOM DID NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TIRE SHOP HAD HAD THEM BALLANCE ALL WHEELS. WHEN I LEFT THE SHOP WHEN I REACHED 45 MPH 10 MINUTES LATER THE WOBBLE OCCURED AGAIN. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING AT ABOUT 45 MPH ON OPEN ROAD WHEN THE VEHICLE SHOOK SO BAD I PULLED OFF THE ROAD, BECAUSE I HAD TROUBLE HANGING ON TO THE WHEEL. I LOOKED THIS UP AND IT WAS CALLED A DEATH WOBBLE. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE USED IN 2013 AFTER TRADING IN A 1999 WRANGLER THAT I NEVER HAD SUCH A PROBLEM WITH. I HAVE REPLACED THE STABILIZER BAR AND STABILIZER LINK BUSHINGS, TRACK BAR AND BUSHINGS AND STILL GET A WOBBLE BUT NOT AS BAD. THERE IS CERTAINLY SOMETHING WRONG BUT NO ONE IS ADMITTING IT. WHY DOES IT TAKE SOMEONE GETTING SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED TO GET THE PROBLEM RECOGNIZED AND FIXED.
AFTER HITTING A BUMP MY JEEP'S STEERING VIOLENTLY SHAKES UNTIL I SLOW DOWN. IT FEELS LIKE I MAY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. IT IS VERY UNSAFE. THE WHEELS WERE RECENTLY REPLACED AND BALANCED WHICH DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER THAT MY ONBOARD DIAGNOSTIC MONITOR MAY BE DEFECTIVE AND THAT THE WARRANTY HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO LIFETIME. I DID THE TEST AND IT IS ONE OF THE AFFECTED VEHICLES. I TOOK IT TO ERTLEY MOTORWORLD AND WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE I LIVE IN AN AREA THAT DOESN'T REQUIRE THIS POLLUTION TEST NOW, THE ONLY WAY THEY WOULD FIX IT IS IF I PAY THEM $ 79.95. I SAID WHAT IF THE TEST IS REQUIRED IN THE FUTURE IN MY AREA OR IF I MOVE TO ANOTHER LOCATION THAT REQUIRES IT OR SELL IT TO SOMEONE IN THAT AREA AND IT WON'T BE ALLOWED TO BE LICENSED? I WAS TOLD $ 79.95 OR DON'T FIX IT. NOW I'M MAD AND OUT OF $ 10.00 IN GAS FOR MY TROUBLE. WHY SEND THESE NOTICES IF IT'S JUST RED TAPE TO PLEASE THE GOVERNMENT AND MAKE FOOLS OF THE CONSUMER? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN REFUELING, THE FUEL PUMP WOULD NOT SHUT OFF AND CAUSED FUEL TO SPILL OUT FROM THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000. *TR
WHEN FUELING THE FUEL OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME. THIS CAN NOT BE SAFE. *TR
I BOUGHT A USED RHD 2006 WRANGLER SPORT IN NOV. 2013 FOR $18,500.00.........AND YOU GUYS WILL NOT FIX THE GAS TANK THAT BLOWS GAS OUT WHILE YOU ARE FILLING IT, I LOSE AT LEAST A HALF A GALLON OF GAS EACH TIME I FILL IT UP, AND IT LEAVES A HUGE PUDDLE ON THE GROUND AND ONE TIME SOMEONE IS GOING TO THROW A LIT CIGARETTE IN IT OR IGNITE IT IS SOME WAY AND PEOPLE ARE GOING TO GET HURT........... I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO UPSET OVER THIS, AND THE REASON YOU WON'T FIX IT IS BECAUSE IT IS A RHD FLEET VEHICLE.......IT IS MY REGULAR CAR, AND I DRIVE IT EVERYWHERE, AND IF ANYTHING HAPPENS I WILL SUE YOU UNTIL THERE IS NO TOMORROW. *TR
I PURCHASED THE WRANGLER IN ABOUT OCTOBER OF 2009. SINCE THEN, THE FUEL TANK OVER-SPILLS WHEN IT IS FILLED AT THE GAS PUMPS. IT CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE PAINT AND TO THE PLASTIC WHEEL GUARD. OF GREATER CONCERN IS DEATH WOBBLE. THE FRONT END VIOLENTLY SHAKES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FROM TIME TO TIME. THE VEHICLE IS HARD TO CONTROL. I MADE ATTEMPTS IN 2013 AND 2014 TO FIX IT, ONLY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM RETURN. IN 2013 THE STEERING DAMPER AND STEERING STABILIZER BAR WAS REPLACED. IN 2014, THE TIRES WERE REPLACED AND ALIGNED. THE PROBLEM RETURNED THIS YEAR, AND IS AT ITS WORST. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT A SPEED OF ABOUT 55-60 MILES PER HOUR. I DROVE INTO A CURVED PART OF THE INTERSTATE THAT VEERED TO THE LEFT AND WHEN I TRAVELED THROUGH IT, THE WHOLE JEEP BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. I SLOWED DOWN TO PULL OVER AND WHEN I REACHED ABOUT 40 MILES PER HOUR, THE SHAKING STOPPED. I ASKED A MECHANIC ABOUT IT AND HE SAID THAT THIS "DEATH RATTLE" IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEPS. WE CHANGED THE TIRES AND THE STEERING DAMPER. THIS SEEMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM FOR A WHILE BUT A YEAR LATER THE SHAKING CAME BACK. I DID SOME INVESTIGATING ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE DEATH WOBBLE AND FOUND OUT THAT THE CAUSE CAN BE ONE OR MORE OF A NUMBER OF THINGS ON THE FRONT END. I HAD THE TRACK BAR CHANGED AND THAT HELPED ABOUT 80%. NOW, 8 MONTHS LATER THE SHAKING IS BACK. I UNDERSTAND FROM THE INTERNET THAT THIS DEATH WOBBLE PROBLEM IS RAMPANT ACROSS THE COUNTRY WITH DIFFERENT JEEP OWNERS. YET CHRYSLER WILL NOT ADMIT THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. IS THERE ANY RECOURSE OTHER THAN ME SPENDING HUNDREDS TO THOUSANDS OF MY DOLLARS TO FIX A PROBLEM THAT IS OBVIOUSLY THE FAULT OF CHRYSLER?
FOR AT LEAST THE THIRD TIME, WHILE OFF ROAD JEEPING IN 4 WHEEL LOW, OUR JEEP 2006 LJ RUBICON SELF ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. ONCE AGAIN, WE ROARED INTO A TREE BEFORE WE COULD PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL OR REMOVE THE KEY. HE HAD IT INVESTIGATED BY THE ORIGINAL DEALERSHIP, THEN TOOK IT TO ANOTHER JEEP MECHANIC AND CONTACTED CHRYSLER, WHO DENIED THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM. WE PARTICIPATE IN JEEP JAMBOREES AND HAVE EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM AND HAVE TRIED TO ADDRESS IT AFTER RECEIVING ADVICE FROM VARIOUS GUIDES AND MECHANICS AT THE JAMBOREES. WE HAVE HAD TWO JEEP MECHANICS ATTEMPT SOLUTIONS AND WE HAVE EVEN REPLACED THE COMPUTER BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. ONCE AGAIN, WE ROARED INTO A TREE. *TR
LOST BREAKS ON VEHICLE. TOOK VEHICLE TO GET FIXED...WAS INFORMED THE BREAK LINE WAS MOUNTED AGAINST BODY AND DUE TO THIS AND NORMAL BOUNCING OF THE VEHICLE THE METAL CUT THROUGH THE BREAK LINE.
THE GAS TANK SPILLS EVERY TIME THE JEEP IS FUELED. THE NECK DOESN'T RESPOND FAST ENOUGH THAT THE TANK IS FULL AND IT CONTINUES TO ACCEPT GASOLINE UNTIL IT SPITS GASOLINE BACK OUT OF THE TANK. THE GASOLINE THEN RUNS DOWN THE QUARTER PANEL, ONTO THE GROUND, AND SOMETIMES ONTO THE PERSON FILLING THE TANK IF THEY ARE HOLDING THE FUELING NOZZLE. IT IS NOT GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT OR THE VEHICLE. THIS OCCURS AT EVERY GAS STATION AS WELL. *JB
GAS TANK FILLER OVERFLOWS OR SPRAYS FUEL WHEN TANK IS FILLED. ISSUE IS WELL DOCUMENTED AND HAS BEEN VOLUNTARILY RECALLED FOR VEHICLES MODEL YEAR 2007 AND NEWER. ISSUE IS CAUSED BY FAILING VALVE IN FILLER HOSE DUE TO HIGH CONCENTRATIONS OF ETHANOL IN FUEL.
ANYTIME I FILL THE GAS TANK, FUEL EXPLODES OUT OF THE FILLER BEFORE THE GAS HOSE CLICKS OFF. CAUSING GAS TO SPLASH ON MYSELF, THE GROUND AND MY VEHICLE. I BELIEVE ITS A DEFECT IN THE JEEPS FLAPPER VALVE. DEFINITELY DANGEROUS AND I'M SURPRISED IT HASN'T BEEN RECALLED YET AS IT COULD CAUSE GAS TO BE SPLASHED IN THE EYES. *TR
VERY RANDOMLY, THE VEHICLE STARTS TO SHIMMY VIOLENTLY. HAVE SEEN THIS COMPLAINT ON SEVERAL WEBSITES. THANKFULLY WE HAVE BEN ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AND PULL OFF THE ROAD. HAVE BEEN TOLD THERE IS NO CLEAR CUT RESOLVE TO THIS ISSUE WITHOUT SPENDING A LOT OF MONEY BECAUSE IT COULD BE VARIOUS THINGS. WANT TO GET RID OF THIS VEHICLE BEFORE SOMETHING TRAGIC HAPPENS, BUT AM AFRAID BECAUSE OF THIS, WILL NOT GET WHAT VEHICLE IS WORTH AND SOMEONE ELSE MIGHT DIE NOT KNOWING THE ISSUE. FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND, THE NAME FOR THIS CONDITION IS A "DEATH RATTLE"
FUEL TANK OVERFLOWS AT PUMP STATION. THE VEHICLE IS NOT ABLE TO TELL THE GAS PUMP THAT THE TANK IS FULL OR NEAR FULL. AS A RESULT, GAS OVERFLOWS FROM THE FILLER NECK ONTO THE LEFT REAR FENDER, QUARTER PANEL AND GROUND. THIS IS UNSAFE AND A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED BY CHRYSLER TO FIX THIS. *TR
I BORROWED MY HUSBAND'S JEEP AND AS SOON AS I WENT ABOVE 50 THE WHOLE THING STARTED SHAKING REAL VIOLENTLY. I HAD A HARD TIME CONTROLLING IT. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED HIM. HE SAID IT'S BEEN HAPPENING FOR A FEW WEEKS AND ALWAYS TAKES BACK ROADS TO AVOID DRIVING FASTER. I HAD TO PUT ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND CRUISE TO THE NEAREST EXIT. THANK GOODNESS MY KIDS WEREN'T WITH ME BECAUSE I WASN'T STRONG ENOUGH TO CONTROL IT. IT SCARED THE DAYLIGHTS OUT OF ME. THEN I SAW ONLINE IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM(WITH MODIFICATIONS-TOO BAD WE NEVER DID ANY) BUT NOT A BIG ENOUGH DEAL TO HAVE A RECALL. LET THEM DRIVE IT AND SEE HOW QUICK IT GETS DONE. DANGEROUS. THEY SAY IT'S AN EASY FIX AFTER YOU TRY HALF A DOZEN THINGS. GREAT! LET ME GET MY CHECKBOOK... *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON A SLIGHT GRADE AT APPROX 60 MPH VEHICLE DOWNSHIFTED THEN NOTED PLUME OF WHITE SMOKE EXITING FROM REAR I VEHICLE. UPON PULLING OVER A SMALL ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE WAS NOTED AN EASILY EXTINGUISHED. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION RIDE SIDE OF ENGINE COMPARTMENT WAS NOTES TO BE COVERED IN TRANSMISSION FLUID. THIS WAS RIGHT SIDE ONLY FURTHER INSPECTION REVEALED TRANSMISSION FLUID COMING FROM RIGHT SIDED TRANSMISSION BREATHER TUBE JUST BEHIND DIPSTICK ON RIGHT SIDE. CAUSE ON FLUID DISCHARGE APPEARS TO BE AN OVER HEATING OR PRESSURIZATION OF TRANSMISSION CASE AS THERE ARE NO OTHER PORTS OF EXIT. TRAMS CASE IS INTACT AND AREAS AROUND TRANSMISSION ARE DRY FREE OF DEBRIS OR EVIDENCE OF LEAKAGE. FLUID LEVEL PRIOR TO EVENT WAS CORRECT AND NO POSSIBILITY OF OVER FILLING AS FLUID LEVEL WAS INSPECTED ON REGULAR BASIS. CONTACT DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY TRANSMISSION FLUIDS ARE CAPABLE OF CAUSING FIRE. DEALER STATED ALSO NO POSSIBLE WAY FLUID COULD BE COMING FROM BREATHER TUBE. THEY DID OFFER A QUOTE FOR REPAIR OF $3800 TO $4000 TO REPAIR PROBLEM. THIS ALL WAS DONE WITHOUT OFFERING TO EVEN INSPECT THE VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE FILLING THE GAS TANK THE PUMP NEVER SHUT OFF CAUSING GAS TO SPILL EVERYWHERE. FAULTY CHECK VALVE IN FUEL TANK. SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK, IT WILL OVERFLOW, SPILLING GAS ON THE SIDE OF THE JEEP WRANGLER, THE TIRE AND THE GROUND. IT SEEMS LIKE THE FLAPPER VALVE IN THE FILLER NECK ISN'T PREVENTING SPILLS. IT HAPPENS EVERYTIME I'VE FILLED UP, SO I TRY NOT TO FILL THE TANK ANYMORE. I BELIEVE IT'S A SERIOUS SAFETY AND FIRE HAZARD. ONE SPILL WAS SO BIG, THE GAS STATION EMPLOYEES HAD TO USE KITTY LITTER TO SOAK IT ALL UP
GAS PUMPS WILL NOT FILL VEHICLE PROPERLY. GASOLINE SPILLS FROM FILLER NECK ACROSS BACK END OF VEHICLE WHENEVER I FILL VEHICLE WITH FUEL. *TR
WHEN YOU REACH APPROX. 48 MILES AN HOUR, THE FRONT END WOBBLES AND YOU LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN IN THE CAR. *TR
I PURCHASED THIS JEEP USED AND THE VERY FIRST TIME I FILLED THE FUEL TANK, GAS SPEWED PROFUSELY FROM THE TANK OPENING WITHOUT TRIGGERING THE NOZZLE TO STOP AS THE TANK WAS APPROACHING FULL. THIS CAUSES GASOLINE TO SPRAY ALL OVER THE VEHICLE, THE PUMP, THE OPERATOR, AND TO PUDDLE ON THE GROUND. THIS SAME SCENARIO HAS PLAYED OUT AT EVERY GAS STATION I HAVE VISITED SINCE. THE ONLY SOLUTION IS TO TRY TO GUESS WHEN THE TANK IS CLOSE TO FULL AND STOP THE PUMP PREMATURELY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE THAT WARRANTS IMMEDIATE CORRECTION FROM THE MANUFACTURER. I CONTACTED THE PREVIOUS OWNER OF THE VEHICLE AND SHE STATED THAT THE SAME FUEL OVERFLOW PROBLEM WAS PRESENT THE ENTIRE TIME SHE OWNED THE VEHICLE. IN SPEAKING WITH OTHER JEEP OWNERS, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2005-2006 JEEP WRANGLER MODELS AND HAS EVEN RESULTED IN AT LEAST ONE CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT. FUELING THIS VEHICLE IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS DUE TO THE FACT THAT NO MATER HOW SLOW YOU TRY TO PUMP FUEL INTO IT SHOOTS BACK UP THE TANKS FUEL PIPE AND ONTO THE GROUND AND ON YOU IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL.
