WHEN FILLING THE TANK, RATHER THAN SHUTTING OFF THE GAS, IT BURPS AND OVERFLOWS. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL IT. *TR
SINCE PURCHASING MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED, I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH SEVERE FRONT-END INSTABILITY (SHIMMY AND SHAKING) WHEN THE VEHICLE TRAVELS APPROXIMATELY 50 MILES PER HOUR. IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE, I SPENT HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS ON FRONT-END WORK, TIRE BALANCE, AND TIRE ROTATION WORK, IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, DESPITE A SLIGHT INITIAL REDUCTION IN THE PROBLEM, THE SHIMMY AND SHAKING RETURNED SOON AFTER THE WORK I HAD DONE, AND HAS BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THIS ISSUE IS SO COMMON THAT THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE IN ONLINE JEEP COMMUNITIES HAVE NAMED THE CONDITION, "DEATH WOBBLE.," SINCE THE ISSUE CAN RENDER A VEHICLE VIRTUALLY UNDRIVABLE. I FEAR FOR MY PERSONAL SAFETY, AND FOR THAT OF MY WIFE AND YOUNG CHILDREN WHEN WE TRAVEL IN THIS VEHICLE. MY REQUEST IS THAT CHRYSLER STOP DENYING THAT THERE IS A DANGEROUS, POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING CONDITION INVOLVING MULTIPLE JEEP PRODUCTION YEAR MODELS. I REQUEST THAT A SOLUTION BE ENGINEERED AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE IN THE INTEREST OF MY FAMILY' SAFETY, AND THE SAFETY OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, FUEL SLOSHES OUT OF THE FILLER SPOUT JUST BEFORE THE PUMP CLICKS OFF. THE BACK-SPLASH VOLUME IS LARGE ENOUGH TO SPLASH ONTO CLOTHES, RUN DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, AND LEAVE A SMALL PUDDLE OF GASOLINE ON THE PAVEMENT. *TR
AT AROUND 45MPH MY FRONT WHEELS STARTS TO WOBBLE BACK AND FORTH VIOLENTLY CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO HIT THE BRAKES TO GET THE SHAKING TO STOP. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO WOBBLES BACK AND FORTH MAKING IT HARD TO STEER. THIS IS A HAZARD AS IT HAPPENS IN TRAFFIC AND COULD CAUSE ME TO BE REARENDED. ALSO A DRIVER COULD PANIC AND WRECK AS A RESULT. VEHICLE HAS NO SUSPENSION MODIFICATION. TIRES HAVE BEEN BALANCED AND VEHICLE HAS PROPER ALIGNMENT. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE THE PHENOMENON KNOWN AS "DEATH WOBBLE". *TR
ON FRIDAY, 07.27.12, WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE/WOBBLE WILDLY, AND I THOUGHT THAT I HAD A BLOWOUT IN THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE. I PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER, BUT, TO MY SURPRISE, THE TIRE WAS FINE, AND I COULD SEE NO VISIBLE PROBLEMS. I PROCEEDED DOWN THE HIGHWAY, BUT, AFTER ABOUT A MILE, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE/WOBBLE WILDLY AGAIN (ALMOST UNCONTROLLABLY), TO THE POINT WHERE I LITERALLY THOUGHT THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WAS FALLING OFF. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER WITHOUT CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. I DROVE SLOWLY ALONG THE SHOULDER, EXITED THE HIGHWAY AT THE NEXT OPPORTUNITY, AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. AFTER MAKING SURE THAT THE LUG-NUTS WERE TIGHT, I DROVE (VIA CITY STREETS, TO MINIMIZE SPEED) BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN DETERMINED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WHEEL BALANCING. THAT SAID, WHEN I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE VEHICLE'S RIGHT FRONT END STILL WOBBLES. IN THE INTERIM, I DID SOME GOOGLE'ING, AND I FOUND THAT NUMEROUS OTHER (?DEATH WOBBLE?) CASES HAVE BEEN REPORTED NATIONWIDE (INCLUDING HUNDREDS TO THE NHTSA). CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED MULTIPLE TSBS, AND THERE IS A MAINTENANCE NOTICE ACKNOWLEDGING ?STEERING VIBRATION? (A MONUMENTAL EUPHEMISM; THE ISSUE GOES WAY BEYOND A SIMPLE VIBRATION) ON THE JEEP WEBSITE. IN SHORT, CHRYSLER IS WELL-AWARE OF THE EXISTENCE AND SEVERITY OF THIS PROBLEM. THE MATTER HAS BEEN ADDRESSED BY A SAN FRANCISCO TV STATION (KGO-TV), AND EVEN TWO MEMBERS OF THE U.S. CONGRESS WHO SENT INQUIRIES/COMPLAINTS TO BOTH CHRYSLER. DESPITE ALL OF THE FIRST-HAND ACCOUNTS, PUBLICITY, AND REQUESTS FOR ACTION, THE NHTSA HAS DONE NOTHING. THIS IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW/DEFECT, AND THE NHTSA NEEDS TO FORCE CHRYSLER TO ISSUE A SAFETY RECALL. JEEP OWNERS NEED TO BE MADE AWARE OF THE EXISTENCE/POSSIBILITY OF THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION, AND CHRYSLER SHOULD INCUR THE COSTS OF ITS DIAGNOSIS AND CORRECTION. *TR
REGARDLESS OF HOW FUEL NOZZLE IS PLACED, FUEL TANK OVER FILLS APPROX 1/8TH-1/3TH GALLON OF FUEL. I FEAR THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE IN THE EVENT FUEL SPLASHED ONTO BRAKE ROTOR OR OTHER HOT COMPONENTS, NOT TO MENTION THE ENVIRONMENTAL AND FINANCIAL IMPACT OF THIS ISSUE DIRECTLY RELATED TO POOR DESIGN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 A JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING OVER 50 MPH THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
EVERY JEEP OWNER I HAVE TALKED TO HAS A FILLING SPLASH-BACK PROBLEM WHEN FILLING THEIR GAS TANK. WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL ON ALL THE JEEPS AND OTHER MODELS WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM.. GET GOING ON THIS IT IS NOT AN ISOLATED PROBLEM. ALL JEEPS,,,,, CAN YOU READ ? ALL ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM... BIG SAFETY AND HEALTH ISSUE. NOT ONE PLACE BUT HERE DID I FIND TO LIST THE PROBLEM AS A SAFETY ISSUE. TOO MANY SITTING ON THEIR BACKSIDES AND DOING NOTHING ON THIS SAFETY ISSUE. READ BETWEEN THE LINES AND GET GOING. A VERY DISGRUNTLED TAX PAYER AND OWNER OF A FAULTY PRODUCT THAT IS UN-SAFE AND UN-HEALTHY WITH NOTHING BEING DONE ABOUT IT. GET MY DRIFT?..... *TR
THE GAS TANK OVERFLOWS WHEN IT IS BEING FILLED. THIS IS A SERIOUS FIRE HAZARD TO BOTH THE VEHICLE OWNER AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC AS A LARGE QUANTITY OF GAS OVERFLOWS OUT OF THE TANK. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AROUND 35 MILES PER HOUR ON THE INTERSTATE MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE. THIS SHAKING BEGAN TO INCREASE OVER A PERIOD OF ABOUT 10 SECONDS. THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING VIOLENTLY AT THIS POINT, REQUIRING THAT I SLOW DOWN IN ORDER TO REGAIN CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. THIS SHAKING CONTINUED TO OCCUR WHENEVER I ACCELERATED ABOUT 35 MPH ON A RANDOM BASIS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND A LOUD NOISE EMITTED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE CONTACT PROCEEDED TO DRIVE AND EVENTUALLY THE NOISE STOPPED HOWEVER, A FEW MOMENTS LATER THE NOISE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND INSPECTED UNDER THE HOOD AREA. THE CONTACT WAS A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND DETECTED THAT THE OIL PUMP DRIVE ASSEMBLY WAS FAULTY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,681.
WHEN MY 06 JEEP WRANGLER HITS A ROAD BUMP AT APPROX 50 MPH AT TIMES VIOLENT SHAKING OCCURS AND LAST UNTIL I SLOW TO ABOUT 30MPH. THE JEEP IS NEARLY UNCONTROLLABLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT WAS TRAVELING 40-45 MPH WHEN THE FRONT END STARTED TO SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THE FRONT END STABILIZER BAR NEEDED TO REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
EVERY TIME I FILL UP WITH FUEL, THE FUEL OVERFLOWS OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND DUMPS GASOLINE ONTO ME AND THE GROUND. THIS HAS A LONG TERM HEALTH EFFECT ON PERSONS FILLING THE VEHICLE. IT HAS AN IMMEDIATE EFFECT ON THE ENVIRONMENT, AND I WILL BE NOTIFYING THE EPA OF THIS ISSUE AS WELL. I SEE FROM VARIOUS JEEP WEBSITES THAT THIS IS A LONG STANDING ISSUE THAT HAS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED. *TR
WHEN PUTTING GAS IN MY JEEP USING A FUEL PUMP GAS RUNS OUT ALL DOWN THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE AND MAKES A PUDDLE ON THE GROUND BEFORE THE PUMP CLICKS OFF. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY CAR UNLESS I HAPPEN TO HEAR HOW CLOSE THE GAS LEVEL IS GETTING AND SHUT THE PUMP OFF ON MY OWN. *TR
FUEL TANK SPITS OUT GASOLINE WHEN FILLING TANK THIS HAPPENS 99 TIMES OUT OF 100 WHEN FUELING. *TR
GAS SPILL OUT WHEN FUELING TO NOW WILL NOT TAKE GAS AT ALL WITHOUT MAJOR SPILLAGE. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE TANK, FUEL IS EJECTED FROM THE FILLER HOSE AND GOES ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND THE GROUND AND USUALLY MYSELF. THE AUTO-SHUT OFF WORKS ON THE PUMPS BUT FUEL STILL COMES OUT. I'VE TRIED USING "HALF THROTTLE" ON THE PUMP BUT STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I'VE LOOKED THROUGH MANY JEEP FORUMS AND IT APPEARS THERE IS A FAIRLY LARGE RANGE OF WRANGLERS THROUGHOUT DIFFERENT MODEL YEARS THAT HAVE THIS ISSUE. HOW HAS THIS NOT BEEN A RECALL? THIS CAN'T BE SAFE TO HAVE FUEL SHOOTING OUT EVERY TIME YOU FILL UP. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWN A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, HE NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING ROUGH. THE CONTACT THEN DROVE INTO HIS DRIVEWAY AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE GEAR PUMP CRACKED AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SEIZE. THEY STATED THAT THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD COVER A PORTION OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 39,000.
WHEN I FILL UP WITH FUEL AFTER PUMP SHUTS OFF FUEL GUSHES OUT ON SIDE OF JEEP AND ONTO GROUND. *TR
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE USED AND THE FIRST TIME I WENT TO FILL UP WITH GAS, I PUT THE NOZZLE IN THE FILLER OPENING AND SQUEEZED THE HANDLE ALL THE WAY. I LOCKED THE HANDLE SO THE GASOLINE WOULD CONTINUE TO FLOW AND LET GO OF THE NOZZLE. AROUND THE 16 GALLON MARK, GASOLINE SHOT OUT OF THE FILLER OPENING AND THEN POURED DOWN THE SIDE OF THE JEEP. ENOUGH CAME OUT THAT IT CREATED A SMALL PUDDLE ON THE GROUND. GASOLINE GOT ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND THE FENDER. IT ALSO SPRAYED MY HAND AS I WAS STANDING NEAR IT. I HAD TO WIPE DOWN THE FENDER AND SIDE OF JEEP BECAUSE I DIDN'T WANT TO CAUSE ANY DAMAGE TO PAINT OR PLASTIC. I FOUND THIS SAME PROBLEM EACH AND EVERY TIME I'VE FILLED THE TANK SINCE THAT TIME. I'VE TRIED DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AND NOZZLES BUT IT DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER. THIS IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE IN MY OPINION AND FORCES ME TO BARELY TRICKLE THE GAS INTO THE TANK BY ONLY SQUEEZING THE HANDLE PART WAY. IF I DON'T DO THIS, I SPILL GAS ONTO THE GROUND AND THE SIDE OF MY JEEP WITH EACH FILL. AFTER RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, I'VE FOUND IT IS VERY COMMON IN MY MODEL YEAR AND THE YEARS SURROUNDING. WHY WON'T CHRYSLER JUST FIX THIS?! *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY WRANGLER, IT BURPS OUT FUEL. THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED OF FLOW THE GAS( I HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE WHEN SLOWLY FILLING UP AS WELL AS WHEN THE PUMP IS ENGAGED AND "LOCKED" ON TOO. IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT FUEL SPILLS EVERY TIME I HAVE TO GET SOME. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING DOWN IH37 AT 65 MPH, MILE MARKER 88, WHEN THE TRANSMISSION OIL OVERHEATED CAUSING TRANSMISSION OIL TO LEAK ONTO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD RESULTING IN A FIRE, CAUSING A TOTAL LOSS OF THE TRANSMISSION. CONDITIONS AT THE TIME OF LOSS WHERE: VEHICLE WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL MODE, TEMPERATURE 90 F, LEVEL TERRAIN, SPEED 65 MPH. THERE WAS NO INDICATION OR WARNING PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. ENGINE WAS OPERATING AT NORMAL 2500 RPM. *TR
AT EVERY FILL UP FUEL SPILLS ALL OVER MYSELF ,MY CAR AND THE FLOOR. VERY UNSAFE! AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF NEVER KICKS IN WHEN FULL. HOW MANY COMPLAINTS DO YOU NEED AND FOR HOW MANY YEARS! EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK , THE VEHICLE DOESN'T DETECT WHEN IT'S FULL AND SPITS GAS UP ALL OVER THE CAR AND MYSELF. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AS FUEL ALSO ENDS UP ALL OVER THE GROUND. PLEASE HELP! *TR
I OWN A 2006 JEEP TJ RUBICON & AM HAVING A REFUELING ISSUE AT THE GAS PUMP. AT FIRST IT OVERFLOWED MAYBE TWICE. NOW I CAN'T REFUEL WITHOUT THE SHUT -OFF (ON THE GAS PUMP) SHUTTING OFF. THE ONLY WAY I CAN REFUEL IS BY HOLDING THE PUMP LEVER GENTLY WHICH DOES RESULTS IN AN OVER FLOW. I TALKED TO CHRYSLER CUSTOMER SERVICE & THEY SAID THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM & MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR ME FOR DIAGNOSTICS A MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHICH WILL COST ME $120.00 FOR A PROBLEM THAT OTHER TJ OWNERS ARE TALKING ABOUT ON THE INTERNET. THIS HAS BEEN A REFUELING PROBLEM FOR THE LAST 6 MONTHS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE JEEP WRANGLER ON A SMOOTH PAVEMENT @ 55MPH THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND THE ENTIRE VEHICLE WAS SHAKING. IT SEEMED AS IF BOTH FRONT WHEELS WERE LOOSE. I IMMEDIATELY BRAKED, PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY TO A COMPLETE STOP. UPON FINDING NOTHING LOOSE I PROCEEDED DOWN THE HIGHWAY, UPON REACHING 55MPH THE VEHICLE REPEATED THE SHAKING. I HAVE REPLACED THE TRACK BAR, STEERING DAMPENER, FRONT BRAKE ROTORS, BRAKE PADS, NEW TIRES, WHEELS CHECKED WITH CALIPERS,AND 2 ALIGNMENTS. I STILL CANNOT EXCEED 55MPH WITHOUT THE VIOLENT SHAKING. *TR
WHEN FILLING GAS TANK, WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF FUEL PUMP WHICH CAUSES OVERFLOW EVERY TIME. THIS IS NOT INTERMITTENT. CAUSES GAS TO POUR OUT ON BACK FENDER OF JEEP AND DOWN BACK QUARTER PANEL. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH MANY JEEP OWNERS AND IS POSTED ON MULTIPLE FORUMS. *TR
WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE 2006 JEEP WRANGLER, AND DROVE IT HOME, WHEN I GOT UP TO BETWEEN 50-55 MPH, THE WHOLE FRONT END OF THE JEEP SHIMMIED OR WOBBLED VIOLENTLY. I LOOKED UP THE PROBLEM ONLINE TO FIND OUT IF THIS WAS A COMMON COMPLAINT, AND EXACTLY WHAT THE CALL WHAT MY JEEP WAS DOING. THIS IS WHEN I FOUND OUT WHAT IT WAS DOING WAS CALLED, "THE DEATH WOBBLE". I THEN TOOK THE JEEP BACK TO CARMAX WHERE I BOUGHT IT USED, AND SHOWED THE CARMAX MECHANICS WHAT I HAD PRINTED OUT FROM ON LINE. THEY THEN, AND I QUOTE, FIXED THE PROBLEM. WELL THIS FIX ONLY LASTED ABOUT A 2 YEARS AND IT IS NOW BACK TO DOING THIS DEATH WOBBLE AGAIN. APPARENTLY THE "FIX" WAS NOT A PERMANENT ONE, AND OF COURSE MY 2006 JEEP IS NO LONGER UNDER THE 12 MONTH LIMITED WARRANTY ANY LONGER. I NEED TO KNOW IF THERE WAS EVER A SAFETY RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM AT THE MANUFACTURER'S EXPENSE, OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW, WHICH I HAVE FOUND OUT THAT SUPPOSEDLY CAN BE PERMANENTLY FIXED. THE PROBLEM FOR ME IS, I CAN'T AFFORD THE COST TO DO THE FIX. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME. *TR
FUEL SPRAY/OVERFLOW WHEN REFUELING. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS! WHEN REFUELING, THERE WAS SIGNIFICANT BLOWBACK OR A VERY HEAVY MIST WHICH SATURATED MY SHIRT AND PANTS WITH GAS. FUEL THEN BEGAN TO RUN DOWN THE SIDE OF MY JEEP, ONTO THE GROUND. THIS OCCURRED SIMULTANEOUSLY WITH THE AUTO SHUTOFF FUNCTION OF THE PUMP. *TR
EVERY FUEL FILL UP THE GAS BURPS BACK UP THE FILL HOSE AND ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND ONTO THE GROUND. IT WILL DO THIS EVEN WHEN FILLING AS SLOW AS POSSIBLE. THIS IS NOT ONLY ANNOYING BUT OF COURSE WASTES GAS AND CREATES A FIRE HAZARD AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTAMINATION. SEVERAL OTHER JEEP OWNERS AROUND HERE SAY THEIR WRANGLERS DO THE SAME THING. *TR
OVER FILLS AT THE FUEL PUMP ALL THE TIME.
OPDA HAS A HIGH PITCHED SQUEALING NOISE COMING FROM IT. FROM WHAT I READ THIS CAN LEAD TO ENGINE FAILURE. *TR
WHEN FILLING MY COMPLETELY STOCK JEEP WRANGLER, FUEL SHOOTS OUT OF THE FILLER, EVEN WITH THE NOZZLE CLICKING OFF. IT DOES IT EVERY SINGLE TIME I FILL IT UP. I PREVIOUSLY OWNED A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER X AND IT DID IT ON THAT ONE AS WELL. FUEL SPRAYS OVER ONTO THE GROUND, JEEP AND OWNER WHEN REFUELING. *TR
WHILE PUMPING GAS AT MULTIPLE DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS, THE PUMP FAILED TO SHUT OFF WHEN THE FUEL TANK BECAME FUEL. AS A RESULT OF THE PUMP NOT SHUTTING OFF, FUEL SPILLED OUT OF THE TANK AS IT BECAME OVERFILLED. I DID NOT LEAVE THE PUMP NOR DID I SET THE LOCK ON THE PUMP SO I WOULD NOT HAVE TO HOLD THE PUMP HANDLE DURING ANY OF THE TIMES I HAVE PUMPED GAS INTO THE VEHICLE TO AVOID SPILLING FUEL THE BEST I CAN. THIS HAPPENS AT MANY DIFFERENT STATIONS THAT I FILL MY FUEL TANK UP AT, THE ONLY COMMON DENOMINATOR IN MY SITUATION IS THE VEHICLE ITSELF. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN MODIFIED IN ANY WAY THAT WOULD INTERFERE WITH NORMAL FUEL PUMPING PROCEDURE. *TR
I BOUGHT MY JEEP IN NOVEMBER 2006 WITH 600 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. IT IS A STOCK VEHICLE WITH NO AFTER-MARKET ADDITIONS, HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN OFF-ROAD AT ALL AND HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. RECENTLY, WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH ON A PAVED HIGHWAY, VIOLENT FRONT END VIBRATION OCCURRED FOR NO APPARENT REASON THAT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO LOOSE COMPLETE CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE. MY MECHANIC HAS REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER, SHOCK ABSORBERS, BUSHINGS, STEERING RODS, ETC. VIOLENT VIBRATING HAS CONTINUED. ON GOOGLE I HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT ABOUT "JEEP DEATH RATTLE" OR "JEEP DEATH WOBBLE". APPARENTLY JEEP DEALERS ARE UNINTERESTED IN THE PHENOMENON BECAUSE IT IS ONLY DISCUSSED ON GOOGLE. SINCE THIS IS A WELL KNOWN PHENOMENON AMONG JEEP OWNERS I AM WONDERING WHY THE NHTSA HASN'T REQUIRED JEEP TO ISSUE A RECALL TO FIND A SOLUTION FOR THESE VIBRATIONS AND COME UP WITH A FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. BY IGNORING THIS PROBLEM NHTSA IS ALLOWING A DANGEROUS CONDITION TO PERSIST THUS ENDANGERING JEEP DRIVERS AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. ## VIN PASSED ## 2006 JEEP WRANGLER 2 DOOR 4X4 ##. *TR
THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED ON 31 DECEMBER 2011. THE FOLLOWING MONTH I EXPERIENCED A SEVERE STEERING SHIMMY TRAVELING BETWEEN 55 AND 60 MPH. EITHER INCREASING OR DECREASING SPEED ENDS THE SEVERE WOBBLE OF THE FRONT WHEELS AND STEERING WHEEL. IF I AM NOT ABLE TO INCREASE OR DECREASE SPEED THE WOBBLE WOULD CONTINUE. DURING THE WOBBLE THE VEHICLE DOES NOT RESPOND TO STEERING COMMANDS AND IS THEREFORE VERY DANGEROUS. THIS PROBLEM HAS CONTINUED TO OCCUR MANY TIMES AT THE ABOVE SPEED AND CAN BE RECREATED ON A REGULAR BASIS. I HAVE ACQUIRED THE JEEP TSB, BUT IT DOES NOT PROVIDE THE REPAIR PROCESS INFORMATION. IN SPEAKING WITH OTHER OWNERS THE "SO CALLED" FIX IS TO REPLACE THE STEERING DAMPENER. NO OWNER, ONLINE OR IN PERSON, HAS REPORTED THIS TO STOP THE PROBLEM FROM OCCURRING. PLEASE ACKNOWLEDGE AND REPORT WHAT CAN BE DONE TO ELIMINATE THIS PROBLEM. I LIKE THIS VEHICLE AND WOULD LIKE TO KEEP IT BUT, IN THIS CONDITION I AM HESITANT TO HAVE OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS OPERATE THE VEHICLE. I ALSO DO NOT WISH TO PASS THE PROBLEM TO THE NEXT OWNER. *TR
WHEN FUELING MY JEEP WRANGLER AND ALL GAS STATIONS, THE GAS TANK OVERFLOWS WHEN BEFORE THE FUEL CUTOFF SWITCH ON THE GAS PUMPS KICKS OFF. EVERY SINGLE TIME THIS HAPPENS. THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FILLER HOSE SOMEHOW FROM THE FACTORY. NOT ONLY DOES IT LEAK OUT THE TOP OF SPOUT BUT IT SPRAYS EVERYWHERE, ON CLOTHES AND ANYTHING NEARBY WITHIN 3 FEET. PROBABLY HALF A CUP OF GAS GIVE OR TAKE AT EVERY FUEL STOP IN MY ESTIMATION. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP THE TANK ON MY 2006 RUBICON UNLIMITED, FUEL WILL OVERFLOW WITHOUT WARNING. IT DOES THIS EVERY TIME I FILL UP. IF I DO NOT STOP IT IN TIME, FUEL WILL OVERFLOW OUT WITH ENOUGH FORCE THAT IT WILL COVER THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND WHO EVER IS FILLING IT UP. MY 2007 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON UNLIMITED DID THE SAME THING AND CHRYSLER RECALLED IT AND REPLACED THE TANK AND I HAVE HAD NO ISSUES SINCE. *TR

EVERY TIME I GET GAS AT THE PUMP, AT THE END OF FILLING THE TANK IT GUSHES OUT A TON OF GASOLINE ALL OVER THE SIDE OF MY JEEP, ALL OVER THE PUMP/HANDLE ITSELF, CREATING A DANGEROUS FIRE HAZARD. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME. I'VE READ ONLINE IT'S A KNOWN ISSUE BUT HASN'T YET HAD A RECALL OR A FIX? SO AM FILING IN HOPES OF A FIX FROM THE MANUFACTURER. I'VE ALSO READ THERE IS SOME KIND OF FIX BUT IT MAY BE COSTLY. BUT IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS RESOLVED. *TR

THE FUEL FILLER ON MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER DOES NOT PREVENT THE FUEL FROM SPILLING WHEN I FILL MY FUEL TANK. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS EVERY TIME (100%) I REFUEL. I AM A SECOND OWNER OF A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED. AFTER PURCHASING THE JEEP, I EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE". THIS IS WHEN THE FRONT RIGHT TIRE OF THE VEHICLE HITS A BUMP AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND THE FRONT SUSPENSION GOES INTO AN UNDRIVABLE WOBBLE. TO RECOVER YOU EITHER TAKE YOUR FOOT OF THE ACCELERATOR OR ATTEMPT TO BRAKE. THERE ARE YOUTUBE VIDEOS SHOWING THIS OCCURRING. I TOOK THE JEEP TO A SHOP WHERE THE OWNER HAD A JEEP AND KNEW ABOUT THE "DEATH WOBBLE". HE ALIGNED THE VEHICLE AND INSPECTED ALL THE FRONT END SUSPENSION PARTS. THIS DID NOT HELP. HE BALANCED ALL THE TIRES. THIS HELPED FOR BUT THE WOBBLE RETURNED. AFTER RETURNING TO THE SERVICE SHOP THE OWNER REPLACED THE CONTROL ARM BUSHINGS. THIS HELPED FOR 2-3 DAYS. NOW THE DEATH WOBBLE IS BACK. THE JEEP IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT RETRACT, AND COULD NOT BE UTILIZED. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,700 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 29,828. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
