AT EVERY FILL UP ON MY 2006 WRANGLER RUBICON GAS SPITS BACK OUT ONCE IT'S FULL AND ABOUT A 1/2 GALLON OF GAS SPILLS EVERYWHERE AFTER THE AUTOMATIC STOP FUNCTION ON THE PUMPS CLICKS OFF. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN REFUELING, FUEL WOULD LEAK ONTO THE GROUND. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE FAILURE BY REPLACING THE FUEL TANK BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED, AND ALMOST EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE GAS TANK IT OVERFLOWS, OFTEN SPRAYING A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL BEFORE THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN WHEN IT WAS NEW, BUT HAS BEEN HAPPENING OFF AND ON, GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE, FOR THE PAST 3 YEARS. I BELIEVE THIS PRESENTS BOTH A FIRE HAZARD AND AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD, AND I KNOW THAT MANY OTHER WRANGLER OWNERS HAVE OBSERVED THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK, IT WILL OVERFLOW AND LEAK GAS ALL OVER THE GROUND AND ALONG THE SIDE OF THE CAR. *TR
WHEN REFUELING OUR JEEP THE PUMP DOES NOT SHUT OFF IN TIME SPRAYING FUEL ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND GROUND. TO FIX THIS THE DEALER WANTS TO REPLACE THE FUEL TANK. THIS IS A VERY COMMON ACROSS THE BOARD CHRYSLER PROBLEM THAT THEY ARE NOT OWNING UP TO. *TR
I TRIED STARTING MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER ONE MORNING AND WHEN I PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION IT JUST ROLLED OVER. I REMOVER THE LOCK CYLINDER AND TOOK IT TO THE PARTS DEPARTMENT AT MY LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP. THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH IT. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION THEY FOUND THAT THE PIECE CONNECTING THE KEY CYLINDER TO THE SWITCH HAD SNAPPED SOMEHOW. THEY INFORMED ME THE ONLY WAY TO REPLACE THIS CHEAP LITTLE PIECE WAS TO BUY A NEW $400 STEERING COLUMN ( NOT INCLUDING LABOR )AND THAT THIS IS THE THIRD ONE IN THE LAST MONTH WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IF THAT DOESN'T WAVE RED FLAGS THEN THEY, JEEP, CERTAINLY HAVE NO CONCERN WITH THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCT. *TR
ALMOST ALWAYS GET A "SPLASH BACK" WHEN FUELING VEHICLE AS GAS STATION! VERY HARD TO LISTEN AND DECIPHER IF FULL, I TRY TO GUESS HOW MANY GALLONS I NEED TO FILL UP. SPILLS OUT GAS ON THE VEHICLE, ON THE GROUND, AND ON YOUR FEET! I HAVE READ THAT MANY OF THESE VEHICLES ARE HAVING THE SAME COMPLAINT, WITHOUT A RECALL, AND IT IS NOT THE GAS PUMPS PROBLEM. *TR
GASOLINE OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME WHEN FILLING TANK ON 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT THIS DANGEROUS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED. *TR
FUEL SPILLS OUT ON ME AND SURROUNDING AREA WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK. THIS EVENT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL THE TANK. I CANNOT USE THE AUTOMATIC FUEL SHUTOFF ON THE FUEL NOZZLES AS GAS IS SPILLED (ABOUT .5 CUP) ON THE SURROUNDING AREA. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD. *TR
WHEN REFUELING MY 2006 WRANGLER JEEP GAS SURGES OUT OF THE TANK PRIOR TO THE PUMP SHUTTING OFF. I HAVE NOT MEASURED THE AMOUNT SPILLED BUT IT IS ENOUGH TO CREATE APPROXIMATELY A 24-36" DIAMETER WET SPOT ON THE GROUND. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL MY VEHICLE NO MATTER WHICH FILLING STATION I USE. THIS SEEMS LIKE A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD CONSIDERING IT SPLASHES ON MY ARM AND CLOTHING IF I AM HOLDING ONTO THE PUMP HANDLE OR STANDING WITHIN ARMS REACH OF THE NOZZLE AND THE SPILLED FUEL IS BECOMING A GROUND OR WATER CONTAMINATE ONE WAY OR ANOTHER AS IT IS SOAKED UP OR WASHES AWAY.
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK IN MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER TJ, THE FUEL OVERFLOWS AND SPILLS/SPLASHES ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, AND GROUND. JEEP KNOWS ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. *TR
MY JEEP IS EXPERIENCING PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE OIL PUMP DRIVE ASSEMBLY (OPDA), WITH ONLY 31,000 MILES ON THE JEEP. THE FAILURE WAS NOTICED WHEN A CHIRPING WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE OPDA UPON ENGINE START UP. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER WHO HAD ME GET THE PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AT A LOCAL JEEP DEALER, WHICH LED TO THE REPLACEMENT OF THE OIL PUMP DRIVE GEAR. THE REPLACEMENT OF THE DRIVE GEAR DID NOTHING TO ELIMINATE THE CHIRPING. THERE WAS SOME WEAR ON THE DRIVE GEAR WHEN IT WAS REPLACED. A SEARCH ON JEEPFORUM.COM INDICATES THE PROBLEM WITH THE OPDA IS A BUSHING THAT ISN'T GETTING OIL, DUE TO A SEAL THAT IS BLOCKING OIL FLOW. THE PART COMES PACKED WITH GREASE, BUT WHEN IT WEARS OUT THERE IS NO LONGER LUBRICATION. CHRYSLER RELEASED A SERVICE BULLETIN (E05) REFERENCE THIS ISSUE, BUT REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE OPDA IS OF FAULTY DESIGN AND CONTINUES TO SUPPLY FAULTY OPDA'S WHEN A REPLACEMENT IS IN FACT SUPPLIED. A RECALL SHOULD BE IN PLACE, BUT IS NOT. IN FACT CUSTOMERS ARE LUCKY TO GET ANY ASSISTANCE IN COVERING THE COST OF REPAIRS IF THEY ARE NOT THE FIRST OWNER OR ARE NOT COVERED UNDER THE FACTORY WARRANTY. THIS PROBLEM PLACES ALL JEEP OWNERS WITH 2005 BUILD DATES AT RISK OF ENGINE FAILURE, DUE TO A KNOWN FAULTY FACTORY PART, WHICH COULD RESULT AT ANYTIME, INCLUDING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THIS COULD RESULT IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT, FIRE OR BOTH, WHICH IN TURN COULD RESULT IN INJURY OR DEATH OF THE OCCUPANTS OF SAID VEHICLES.
THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH GAS SHOOTING OUT OF THE FILLER NECK PRIOR TO THE FUEL PUMP AUTOMATICALLY SHUTTING OFF. THIS WAS REPEATED AT EVERY FILL UP AT NUMEROUS GAS STATIONS. FOR THE PAST 8 MONTHS I CAN NOT FILL THE FUEL TANK WITHOUT THE FUEL NOZZLE REPEATEDLY SHUTTING OFF. I CAN ONLY ADD FUEL AT AN EXTREMELY SLOW PACE OR NOT AT ALL. IT HAS BECOME SO BAD THAT I NOW CARRY A GAS CAN, IT'S FASTER TO FILL THE CAN THEN POUR IT IN THE TANK! TT
GAS TANK OVERFILLS AT EVERY FILL-UP. GAS SHOOTS OUT ALL OVER AND HAS GOTTEN ON CLOTHES ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THIS SEEMS DANGEROUS. *LN
DURING FUELING, WHEN THE FUEL PUMP NOZZLE AUTOMATICALLY STOPS THE FLOW OF GASOLINE , FUEL SURGES BACK THROUGH THE FILLER TUBE AND VIGOROUSLY SPLASHES OUT ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ANYTHING OR PERSON WITHIN 2 TO 3 FEET OF THE FUEL FILLER. THIS OCCURS EVERY TIME THE FUEL TANK IS FILLED AND HAS DRENCHED THE PERSON FILLING THE VEHICLE FROM THE WAIST DOWN WITH GASOLINE ON TWO OCCASIONS. HAS SPILLED FUEL ON EVERY FILLUP (AT LEAST ONE CUP), DESPITE PRECAUTIONS (SLOWING FILLING RATE). MANUFACTURER AND DEALER HAVE DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM, THIS HAPPENS ALMOST EVERY TIME I FILL UP. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK THE GAS OVERFLOWS IN A SPRAY OR STREAM WITHOUT TRIPPING THE PUMP SHUTOFF. IT ALSO AT TIMES WILL ONLY FILL WHEN FILLING EXTREMELY SLOW. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP MY GAS TANK, FUEL BLOWS OUT OF THE (GAS FILL UP OPENING) WHEN...IT ALMOST REACHES FULL (ABOUT 6 GALLONS TO GO). IN THE LAST YEAR IT DONE THIS ABOUT 15 TIMES. *TR
FUEL SPRAY FROM FILLING VEHICLE UP. DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS ALL PRODUCE THE SAME RESULT. IF I SET THE AUTO FILL ON THE PUMP OR IF I HOLD THE PUMP HANDLE, FUEL WILL SPRAY OUT OF THE FILL NECK AND ONTO THE VEHICLE, GROUND OR MYSELF. *TR
WHEN FILLING MY GAS TANK AT ANY GAS STATION, THE GAS SPILLS (OR ACTUALLY SHOOTS OUT) OUT. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE. I JUST TOOK IT TO THE SHOP AFTER GETTING GAS ALL OVER ME. I SPENT $100 ON DIAGNOSTICS. I HAVE HEARD THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND JEEP/CHRYSLER IS TOO CHEAP TO COVER IT BY RECALL. I'VE HEARD OF A GROUP THAT IS TALKING TO TORT ATTORNEYS SO I WILL LOOK INTO THAT NEXT. *TR
JEEP SPILLS OUT LARGE AMOUNT OF GASOLINE EVERY TIME IT IS FILLED UP. *LN
WHEN REFUELING THE VEHICLE, GASOLINE IS SPIT BACK OUT OF THE FILLER NECK WHEN THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF RELEASES AND THE TANK IS FULL. IF THE FILLER NOZZLE HAS SPLASH GUARD, SPILLED FUEL RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE ON TO THE GROUND. OTHERWISE FUEL IS SHOT OUT UP TO 5 FEET AND COVER ANYTHING OR ANYBODY WITHIN THE RADIUS OF THE SPILL. NO REMEDY FOUND, IT ALWAYS HAPPENS. *TR
GASTANK OVERFLOWS WHEN FILLING. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER THAT IS SHOOTING GASOLINE OUT OF IT AFTER IT IS FILLED UP WITH GAS. BASICALLY, AFTER THE FUELING IS COMPLETE AND THE PUMP CLICKS OFF, GASOLINE SHOOTS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK AND ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR, THE GROUND, AND THE PUMP. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL THIS DEFECT CAUSES A FIRE AT A STATION OR GETS SOMEBODY KILLED. JEEP IS REFUSING TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. THERE ARE QUITE A FEW JEEP OWNERS WHO ARE REPORTING THIS SAME PROBLEM. *TR
2006 JEEP WRANGLER. NOT LIFTED. SEVERE "DEATH WOBBLE" BETWEEN APPROX. 40-50 MPH. THIS ISSUE IS PREVALENT AND DANGEROUS ENOUGH TO WARRANT RECALL. JEEP SHOULD FIX THIS DESIGN ISSUE IMMEDIATELY BEFORE LOSS OF LIFE OCCURS. THE NHTSA MUST FORCE THE ISSUE IMMEDIATELY, AS JEEP HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE DESIGN FLAW SINCE APPROXIMATELY 1997. WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN ADDRESSED/RESOLVED? *TR

THE VEHICLE IS A 2006 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON W/~44,000 MILES. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED DURING A TRIP AND UPON RETURN A DIAGNOSTIC TOOL READ THE ERROR CODES = P0016 AND OTHERS. THE CODE P0016 INDICATED A CAM-CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WHICH IS PART OF THE CAMSHAFT SYNCHORNIZER (PART #53010624AC). INQUIRY INTO PURCHASING THIS PART, WE WERE TOLD THE PART IS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER AND HAS BEEN FOR MORE THAN 9 MONTHS. FURTHER INQUIRY INTO NUMEROUS OTHER DEALERS AND PARTS COMPANY'S SUPPORT THE NATIONAL BACK ORDER PROBLEM. AND AFTER DEEPER RESEARCH ONLINE INTO THIS ISSUE INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING THREAD AT HTTP://WWW.JEEPFORUM.COM/FORUM/F9/CHRYSLER-PAYING-INSTALL-NEW-CAM-2005-2006-OWNERS-SHOULD-READ-963235/?REFERRERID=211189 IT SHOWS A MUCH MORE SERIOUS PROBLEM EXISTS THAN JUST A SENSOR CAUSING A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THERE WAS A RECALL (EO5) FOR THE 2005 MODEL YEAR BUT YET THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS IN THE 2006 MODEL AS EVIDENCED BY THE THREAD (THERE ARE OTHER THREADS AND RESEARCH) AS WELL AS THE NATIONAL BACK ORDER FOR THE PARTS SUPPORTING THIS PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM IS THE TEETH ON THE ASSOCIATED GEARS FOR THE SYNCHRONIZER AND THE CAMSHAFT PARTS PREMATURELY WEAR OUT CAUSING PLAY BETWEEN THESE TWO GEARS THUS ACTIVATING THE SENSOR WHICH THEN CAUSES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TO BE ILLUMINATED. THIS CEL ACTIVITY LIMITS THE MAXIMUM RPMS AT ~3,000 THUS CAUSING LIMITED DRIVABILITY. FOR EXAMPLE, IF WHEN EXCEEDING THIS RPM LIMIT DUE TO CHANGING GEARS TO EITHER ACCELERATE OR DECELERATE, THE VEHICLE SPUTTERS AND HESITATES SIGNIFICANTLY THUS REDUCING DRIVABILITY POTENTIALLY ENDANGERING THE OCCUPANTS DURING NORMAL CITY AND INTERSTATE DRIVING CONDITIONS. FURTHER USE OF THE VEHICLE CAUSES FURTHER FAILURE OF THESE GEARS RESULTING IN A SHUT DOWN OF THE VEHICLE AND COMPLETE INOPERABLE. WHEN THE GEARS STOP TURNING, THIS ACTION STOPS TURNING THE OIL PUMP RESULTING IN NO OIL FLOW. NO OIL FLOW COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE THE ENGINE TO SEIZE SHOULD THESE GEARS FAIL WHILE DRIVING ON OUR INTERSTATE SYSTEM. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 UNLIMITED JEEP WRANGLER AND A COUPLES YEARS AGO, WHILE MY CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, THE GAS TANK STARTED OVERFLOWING, THE PUMP DID NOT STOP AND GAS WOULD GET ALL OVER THE CAR, MY CLOTHING, ETC. THE DEALERSHIP THEN REPLACED THE ENTIRE GAS TANK. RECENTLY THIS PROBLEM BEGAN AGAIN AND I HAD TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER DIRECTLY AND THEN THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THIS FIXED. I ENDED UP PAYING APPROXIMATELY $222 TO GET A NEW GAS TANK AGAIN. WHEN I WENT FILL UP THE CAR AFTER PICKING IT UP FROM BEING "SUPPOSEDLY" FIXED I REALIZED THAT IT WAS NOT FIXED AND GAS WAS ALL OVER MY CAR. IT SEEMS AS IF THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM AND REPLACING THE GAS TANK IS A SHORT TERM FIX OR NO FIX AT ALL. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I HAVE TO BRING MY WRANGLER BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN. *TR

FUEL SPILLS FROM FILLER NECK UPON COMPLETION OF REFUELING IN MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER. PLEASE EXPAND CURRENT INVESTIGATION TO EARLIER MODEL YEAR JEEP WRANGLER VEHICLES. *TR
IT SEEMS A CHECK VALVE THAT IS PART OF THE FUEL TANK FAILED. REGARDLESS OF GAS STATION, NOZZLE POSITION OR FLOW RATE I ALWAYS GET GAS SPLASH BACK WHEN I FILL UP THE TANK. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT REPLACEMENT GAS TANKS HAVE THE SAME DEFECT THAT WILL CAUSE THEM TO FAIL IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME.

2006 JEEP WRANGLER X I RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE USED WITH 58,000 MILES. I DISCOVERED A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION WHEN FILLING UP WITH GAS. THE GAS FLOW TO THE TANK DOES NOT PROPERLY TURN OFF WHEN THE TANK BECOMES FULL. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED TO ME I WAS SPRAYED WITH GASOLINE ON MY CHEST ... NEARLY MISSING MY FACE. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A FLUKE BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN THE NEXT TIME I FILLED UP. I'VE LEARNED TO ONLY FILL UP THE TANK HALF WAY. I DID AN INTERNET SEARCH AND FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH NEWER JEEP WRANGLERS. IT IS ALSO AN ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE AS WELL BECAUSE GASOLINE JUST TRAVELS DOWN THE JEEP AND INTO THE GROUND. I HAVE LEARNED THROUGH JEEP INTERNET FORUMS THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH JEEP WRANGLERS. THIS ISSUE MUST BE ADDRESSED BY CHRYSLER THROUGH A VEHICLE RECALL. THERE WILL DEFINITELY BE DEATHS/INJURIES FROM THIS IF IT IS NOT PROPERLY ADDRESSED BY CHRYSLER. *TR

NEW CAMBER,NEW BUSHING, NEW CONTROL ARMS. NOTHING WORKS. I MUST PULL OFF THE HIGHWAY TO MAKE IT STOP. THIS JEEP IS DANGEROUS!!!! *TR
I'VE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM FOR 4 YEARS. WHILE FUELING, GASOLINE WILL OVERFLOW WITHOUT CUTTING OFF. THE FUEL FILLER NECK/GAS TANK ON MY 2006 JEEP WRANGLER HAS FILLING PROBLEMS. ANY TIME I GO TO FILL UP ON GAS THE PUMP DOES NOT CLICK OFF IN TIME AND GAS LITERALLY SHOOTS OUT OF THE FILLER NECK ALL OVER THE BUMPER OF THE JEEP AND ON THE GROUND. I HAVEN'T TRIED TO MEASURE THE VOLUME OF GAS THAT SHOOTS OUT EACH TIME, BUT I WOULD ESTIMATE AT LEAST 6-8OZ OF FUEL. *TR

ADDING GASOLINE TO GAS TANK AT A FILLING STATION WITH A STANDARD PUMP NOZZLE, WILL ALWAYS RESULT IN AN EXPULSION OF GASOLINE FROM THE VEHICLE FILLER OPENING WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. THE PUMP NOZZLE DOES SHUT OFF THE DELIVERY OF FUEL, BUT A SUSPECTED DESIGN FLAW PERMITS GASOLINE TO ERUPT OUT OF THE FILLER OPENING, WHICH WILL SPLASH ONTO AN UNSUSPECTING PERSON DOING THE REFILLING, ONTO HIS SHOES, AND RUN DOWN THE OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE, CREATING AN UNNECESSARY HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARD. A MAJORITY OF THE TIMES THAT I FILL MY GAS TANK IT OVERFLOWS. I PUT THE NOZZLE IN AND BEGIN FILLING THE TANK AND THEN IT CLICKS OFF AND IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE CLICK FUEL COMES OUT OF THE FILLER AND ONTO MY JEEP AND THE GROUND AND MY SHOES AND MY HANDS IF THEY ARE CLOSE TO THE PUMP. FROM WHAT I'VE READ, I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM WITH A JEEP VEHICLE. *KB

MY 06 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON OVER FLOWS GAS AT THE PUMP BEFORE THE PUMP CLICKS OFF. THIS WILL BE AS I AM MANUALLY FUELING (HAND STILL ON PUMP HANDLE). COMES GUSHING OUT CAUSING FUEL TO BE SPILT, GAS ON PAINT, AND THE SMELL OF GASOLINE ON CLOTHES WHEN HIGHLY PRESSURIZED. *TR
