AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINS ON, THEREFORE THE AIR BAG MAY NOT DEPLOY AS INTENDED IN AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE 'CLOCK SPRING' AS JEEP IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEARS AND NOT OTHERS - JEEP NEEDS TO RECALL AND FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE ON ALL JEEP MODELS, NOT JUST A SELECT FEW.
A FEW WEEKS AGO MY AIRBAG LAMP (DASH LIGHT) STARTED COMING ON AND DINGS WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED (VERY ANNOYING) ... I LOOKED IN THE MANUAL AND IT TOLD ME THIS MEANT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG. I DID SEARCHES ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT MY YEAR, MAKE & MODEL JEEP HAD A KNOW ISSUE / RECALL FOR CLOCK SPRING IN THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG SYSTEM THAT COULD CAUSE IT TO MALFUNCTION AND NOT DEPLOY DURING A CRASH. WHEN I CALLED CHRYSLER THEY SAID MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT IN THE LIST OF RECALLS BUT THAT IT DIDN'T MEAN THAT WASN'T THE PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE LARGE RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. THEY WANT ME TO PAY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED AT THE DEALERSHIP MYSELF AND THEN FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THEM FOR RE-IMBURSEMENT... WHICH I FIND TO BE RIDICULOUS - IF ITS A KNOW PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE THEN THEY SHOULD HONOR IT AND FIX THE ISSUE WITHOUT ME BEING OUT THE MONEY!
A FEW WEEKS AGO WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN I HEARD A POP AND THEN MY AIRBAG LAMP (DASH LIGHT) STARTED COMING ON AND DINGS WHEN THE CAR IS STARTED (VERY ANNOYING)...I LOOKED IN THE MANUAL AND IT TOLD ME THIS MEANT THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG. I DID SEARCHES ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT A LOT OF VEHICLES ARE BEING RECALLED FOR A KNOW ISSUE / RECALL FOR CLOCK-SPRING ASSEMBLY IN THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG SYSTEM THAT COULD CAUSE IT TO MALFUNCTION AND NOT DEPLOY DURING A CRASH. I FOUND A FEW SITES THAT LISTED MY MAKE / MODEL OF JEEP AS ONE OF THE RECALLS ... BUT WHEN I CALLED THE CHRYSLER / JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE & TOOK IT TO THE CHRYSLER / JEEP DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED- I WAS TOLD MY MAKE / MODEL WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL SO I HAD TO PAY FOR IT OUT OF MY OWN POCKET ($499.17 TO BE EXACT - SEE ATTACHED INVOICE). TALK ABOUT A SHOCK - I WOULD HAVE NEVER GUESSED THAT IT WOULD BE THIS EXPENSIVE - BUT TO BE PROTECTED AND SAFE IN MY VEHICLE IT HAD TO BE DONE. I AM HOPING TO ALSO VOICE MY CONCERNS & HOPEFULLY PROTECT OTHER PEOPLE AND POSSIBLY PREVENT DEATHS OF INNOCENT PEOPLE THAT ARE NOT AWARE OF THE PROBLEM SO THEY CAN GET THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG CLOCK-SPRING ASSEMBLIES REPLACED. I ALSO REQUESTING THAT THIS INCIDENT BE REPORTED, INVESTIGATED AND HOPE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THIS EXPENSE I PRAY THAT SOMEONE ELSE DOES NOT HAVE TO SPEND THE TIME, MONEY OR WORRY THAT I'VE HAD TO GO THROUGH IN ORDER TO GET THIS ISSUE FIXED... HOPEFULLY BEFORE IT CAUSES AN INJURY OR DEATH!
BACKING OUT THE DRIVE WAY WIPERS CAME ON PULLED BACK IN DRIVEWAY CHECKED HEADLIGHTS WERE ON WIPERS AND HEADLIGHTS WOULDN'T TURN OFF WITH SWITCHES I NOTICED I DIDN'T HAVE A DOME LIGHT NO GAUGES ON DASH NO SPEEDOMETER OR ODOMETER TURN SIGNALS AND 4WAY FLASHERS WOULDN'T WORK THE HORN DOESN'T WORK I KNOW THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITHOUT HORN AND TURN LIGHTS WIPERS ON ALL THE TIME I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET SUCH AS JEEP FORUM WRANGLER FORUM YOU TUBE AND FOUND THERE IS A LOT OF JEEP WRANGLERS AND CHRYSLER PRODUCTS OUT THERE WITH THE SAME ISSUES EVERYONE STATES IT IS THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE ALSO CALLED THE TIPM ONE YOU TUBE VIDEO OF A 2012 WRANGLER OWNER STATES HE HAS TO WAIT 2 WEEKS FOR A TIPM BECAUSE THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER CHRYSLER APPARENTLY CANT KEEP ENOUGH TIPMS IN STOCK THEY GO OUT SO FREQUENTLY I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND CHRYSLER SHOULD PUT A RECALL ON THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V176000 (AIR BAGS). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TRAVELLING ON A STRAIGHT ROAD AT APPROXIMATELY 50-60MPH, HIT A SMALL BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE A LITTLE THEN VIOLENTLY AND ALMOST LOST CONTROL OF THE JEEP. I HAD TO COME TO A COMPETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD BEFORE THE SHAKING WOULD STOP. I WAS SCARED TOO DEATH. I HAD THE JEEP CHECKED OVER AND NOTHING WAS BROKEN OR WORN. NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ON THIS SITE AS WELL AS THE INTERNET FOR THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN WILL THIS BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED?
WHILE DRIVING NORTH ON BERTRAND DRIVE NEAR WEST CONGRESS STREET IN LAFAYETTE, LOUISIANA, AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MILES PER HOUR, THE FRONT WHEELS AND STEERING WHEEL BEGAN WOBBLING VIOLENTLY. I MAINTAINED CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WHILE SLOWLY DRIVING INTO A PARKING LOT. I PERFORMED A CURSORY INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, BUT DID NOT OBSERVE ANYTHING WRONG. I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, AND LEARNED THAT THE "DEATH WOBBLE" HAD RESULTED IN CHRYSLER ISSUING TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS, BUT NOT A RECALL. I REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER AND TO CHRYSLER. CHRYSLER INFORMED ME THAT BECAUSE A RECALL HAD NOT BEEN ISSUED, CHRYSLER WOULD NOT HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT NO EXPENSE TO ME.
ME AND MY DAD WERE DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND IT WAS 65 MILES AN HOUR ALL OF A SUDDEN THE JEEP STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND IT DID IT 3 TIMES WHILE WE'RE ON THE EXPRESSWAY. THE JEEP WAS DOIN THE DEATH WOBBLE AND BOTH OF US WERE SHAKEN UP. THE BRAKES WENT OUT AND HAD A HARD TIME STOPPING. IT'S RIDICULOUS AND I THINK THAT THESE PARTS SHOULD BE RECALLED. I'M GONNA CALL DETROIT TOMORROW.
WHILE WORKING MY MAIL ROUTE, ONLY ABOUT 20 MILES IN, MY RIGHT HAND DRIVE WRANGLER STARTED TO SMOKE. I ASSUMED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE NEVER TURNED OFF WHEN IT BEGAN TO SMOKE IT WAS SOMETHING SMALL CAUSING THE ISSUE. I WAS DRIVING 15 MPH WHEN THIS OCCURRED. I PULLED OVER, SHUT OFF MY VEHICLE AND OPENED THE HOOD. THERE WAS A FIRE ON THE PASSANGER SIDE OF MY VEHICLE UNDER AND BEHIND MY BATTERY, ROLLING UNDER THE VEHICLE MOVING VERY QUICKLY. I IMMEDIATELY CLOSED THE HOOD, GOT MY BELONGING OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND WATCHED AS IT BLEW UP, AND I CALLED 911. MY VEHICLE IS TOTALED. I AM NOW LEARNING THAT THIS IS BECOMING A COMMON OCCURANCE WITH JEEP! WHY ARE THERE NO PUBLIC WARNINGS!! WHERE ARE THE RECALLS!!!!!!!! I AND OTHERS COULD HAVE BEEN HURT OR KILLED!!!!
KNOWN AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE." THIS HAS OCCURRED FOUR TIMES TO ME ON THE INTERSTATE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 50-70 MILES PER HOUR. HAD TO COME TO COMPLETE STOP BEFORE THE SEVERE SHAKING FROM THE FRONT END AND STEERING WHEEL WOULD CEASE. VERY DANGEROUS AND IT IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE THAT THE MANUFACTURER MUST ADDRESS AND STOP DENYING HAPPENS. THEY SHOULD ALSO REPAIR THE CAR FREE OF CHARGE. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON SEPT. 12, 2015, OCT. 4TH, 2015, OCT. 13TH, 2015, AND OCTOBER 25, 2015. ALL INCIDENTS OCCURRED ON THE HIGHWAY EXCEPT FOR THE FIRST INCIDENCE WHICH WAS ON A REGULAR ROAD GOING ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR.
MY AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THIS IS CONSISTENT WITH THE CLOCK SPRING ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN OCCURRING IN MANY 07-12 WRANGLERS. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION SHOULD A FRONTAL IMPACT OCCUR.
STARTED MY JEEP AND THE SEAT BELTS LIGHT RAYS ON. IT COMES AND GOES WHILE DRIVING.DEALER SAID SOUNDS LIKE THE CLOCK SPRING. I KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL ON RHD JEEPS BUT WHAT ABOUT TH LHD ONES.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING. HAVE CHECKED FOR LOOSE OR BAD WIRING CONNECTION EXTERNALLY - NONE FOUND. BELIEVE THAT THIS CONDITION IS DUE DEFECTIVE AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING WIRING FAILURE. TALKED WITH DEALER (OF LITTLE HELP) - NO RECALL NOTICE, YOUR PROBLEM BUT WE CAN FIX. FEEL THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND SHOULD BE CORRECTED UNDER WARRANTY/RECALL PROCESS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STABILIZING BAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,300. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. UPDATED 11/19/15*LJ
THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE CONTROL PANEL ILLUMINATES INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. THE DURATION OF ILLUMINATION FLUCTUATES FROM SECONDS TO 20 MINUTES. THE FAULTY COMPONENT IS THE CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY. DUE TO YOUR INVESTIGATION PE 15-025, I'M IN DISCUSSION WITH CHRYSLER/FIAT TO REPAIR THE COMPONENT OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY AS THIS IS A GREAT SAFETY CONCERN WHICH THEY HAD FAIR WARNING TO CORRECT.
ON THE 2009 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON EVERY OTHER MINUTE WITH A CHIME, AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING OR INTERFERING WITH THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS.THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY 2009 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE 2009 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY CONCERN OF THEIR FAULTY CLOCKSPRING THAT CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS FROM PROPERLY DEPLOYING.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH COMES ON AND STAYS ON. WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL SHARPLY, THE LIGHT GOES OFF AND THEN COMES BACK ON AGAIN WHEN COMING OUT OF THE TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR SERVICE AND I WAS TOLD THE CLOCK SPRING WAS BAD AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT SIMILAR JEEPS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS AND THAT THE INVESTIGATION HAS EXPANDED TO INCLUDE MY MODEL AND YEAR AS WELL. ATTACHED IS THE ESTIMATE FROM THE DEALER SHOWING THE NEED FOR REPAIR.
THE CLOCK SPRING CEASED TO WORK TURNING OFF THE AIRBAG, THERE WAS A SHUDDER AND THE TCS (TRACTION CONTROLLED SYSTEM) BEGAN BRAKING ON ITS OWN. THEN WHEN THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED THE SYSTEM WENT SHUDDERY AND QUIT WORKING. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH 2007 THRU 2013 JEEP WRANGLERS AND THERE IS A RECALL ON THE PART, EXCEPT THAT CRYSLER HAS DETERMINED THAT IT ONLY AFFECTS A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF JEEPS. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. A SEARCH ON GOOGLE WILL SHOW HUNDREDS OF CASES WHERE THE CLOCK SPRING BREAKS, CAUSING THE AIRBAGS TO BECOME TURNED OFF AND THE END AND TCS SYSTEMS TO GO HAYWIRE, MAKING THE VEHICLE UNCONTROLLABLE AND UNDRIVEABLE. CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO RECALL THE PART IN WRANGLERS JEEP LIBERTY AND TWO OTHER BRANDS. THE HAZZARD IS COMPOUNDED IMMENSELY IF YOU HAPPEN TO GET (DEATH WOBBLE) YET ANOTHER UNFIXED ISSUE. THIS WILL LEAD TO ACCIDENTS AND DEATH, IF IT HASN'T ALREADY.
WHILE STOPPED AT A LIGHT, MY JEEP'S AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE WARNING DING SOUNDED. THE LIGHT WOULD REGULARLY SWITCH OFF AND ON AGAIN, EVERY TIME ACCOMPANIED BY THE WARNING DING WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED BACK ON. THE LIGHT IS PRETTY MUCH ALWAYS ON NOW, AND THE WARNING DING ONLY SOUNDS WHEN I START THE VEHICLE. I HAD THE AIRBAG WARNING CHECKED OUT AT THE LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE CONFIRMED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING HAS FAILED. THE CLOCK SPRING APPEARS TO BE A FAULTY DESIGN; CHRYSLER ISSUED A VOLUNTARY RECALL AFTER A PREVIOUS NHTSA INVESTIGATION (PE11019) BUT THE SAME PART/DESIGN IS USED FROM 2007 THROUGH 2012 IN JEEP WRANGLERS.
AIRBAG LIGHT KEPT GOING ON. I AM UPSET BECAUSE THERE IS A LARGE RECALL ON THE MOPAR AIRBAG MODULE LOCATED IN THE STERRING WHEEL. I HAD TO PAY 680.00 DOLLARS, WHERE THERE IS OVER 1MILLON VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS SPECIFIC PART. SOMETHING IS JUST NOT RIGHT HERE. PLEASE HELP THANK YOU

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
BOUGHT A USED 2009 JEEP, WHEN TAKING OFF IT JUMPS OUT OF 1ST GEAR.
BOUGHT A USED 2009 JEEP DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT A DEATH WOBBLE. I WAS GOING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT ABOUT 60 MPH HIT A BUMP AND THE JEEP STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. ALMOST GOT HIT TRYING TO GET OFF THE INTERSTATE AND STOP. IT DOES IT EVERY TIME I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD. NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO BECASUE WE BOUGHT IT USED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE TREMENDOUSLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT TIE ROD END BOLTS, TRAC BAR BOLTS, AND THE BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 42,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR AGO, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, SMOKE APPEARED EVERYWHERE. THE CONTACT QUICKLY GRABBED HER BABY AND JUMPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH WAS MOMENTARILY ENGULFED IN FLAMES AND BURNED TO THE GROUND. THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR. THE POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT WERE AT THE SCENE AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. POLICE AND FIRE REPORTS WERE FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE INSURANCE COMPANY TOWED THE REMNANTS OF THE VEHICLE AWAY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY 2007-2012 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THE FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE A SAFELY CONCERN DUE TO A POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE 2009 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT.
AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER (JIM CLICK) THAT THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THIS ITEM. I NEED TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSIS BEFORE THEY CAN DO ANYTHING. I INFORMED THEM OF THE RECALL THIS IS BEING INVESTIGATED AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING AND WAS MY PROBLEM.
BROUGHT MY JEEP TO AN AUTOMOTIVE SHOP TO HAVE CRANK CASE AND TRANSMISSION OIL CHANGED. THEY DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR DRIVE SHAFT WAS IN DIRE STRAIGHT. THERE ARE 16 BOLTS; 8 AT EACH END THAT KEEP THE DRIVE SHAFT IN PLACE. 1 WAS COMPLETELY MISSING, 12 WERE BROKEN (IN MULTIPLE PLACES ON MULTIPLE BOLTS) AND 3 BOLTS WERE ALL THAT WAS KEEPING THE DRIVE SHAFT IN PLACE AND THEY WERE ALL ATTACHED TO THE REAR OF THE SHAFT. THE SHOP INSISTED THAT I SEE IT FIRST HAND AND THAT THEY HAD NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE IT BEFORE. I WAS COMPLETELY HORRIFIED, THERE IS NO TELLING HOW LONG IT HAD BEEN THAT WAY. I AM NOT HARD ON MY VEHICLE, I DON'T HOT ROD, OFF ROAD OR GO MUDDING. THERE WERE NO INDICATIONS OF A PROBLEM AND THE JEEP SERVICE DEPARTMENT DIDN'T DISCOVER ANYTHING DURING THEIR "UMPTEEN" VEHICLE POINT INSPECTION. THE ONLY THING I CAN FIGURE IS THAT THE FACTORY TORQUED THE BOLTS TOO HARD OR USED DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT OR BOTH. THE COMPLACENCY IN QUALITY CONTROL IS DISTURBING; MY LIFE MATTERS AND THERE IS NO TELLING WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED IF THAT PART DECIDED TO LET GO. *TR

LOOKED FOR A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE, BUT FOUND THERE WAS ONLY ONE FOR RIGHT HAND DRIVE JEEPS. I DID, HOWEVER, FIND AN OPEN INVESTIGATION & MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE ON LEFT HAND DRIVE JEEPS.
WHILE OPERATING MY 2009 JEEP WRANGLER FIRST MY CRUISE CONTROL FAILED AND NOW WILL NOT FUNCTION, THEN MY AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. NOW THE AIR BAG LIGHT KEEPS GOING ON AND OFF WITH A CHIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

CHRYSLER HAS A RECALL FOR RIGHT HAND STEERING 2009 JEEP WRANGLERS AND HAS EXTENDED WARRANTY TO REPAIR 2007 JEEP WRANGLERS WITH THIS ISSUE YET HAS DONE NOTHING FOR OTHER AFFECTED MODELS. THE FAILURE OF THIS PART CAN RESULT AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING DURING AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT PUTS ALL CUSTOMERS AT RISK. WHETHER THE STEERING IS RIGHT HAND, LEFT HAND, 2007 OR 2009, THEY ARE ALL AFFECTED YET CHRYSLER CHOOSES THE SAME PATH AS GM AND THEIR IGNITION SWITCH ISSUES BY RECALLING OR EXTENDING WARRANTIES TO ONLY FIX THOSE THAT THEY ARE FORCED TO FIX AT THE EXPENSE OF THE SAFETY OF THEIR OTHER CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART IN THEIR STEERING COLUMNS. DOES THE NHTSA CONDONE THIS ACTION? CHRYSLER IS CLEARLY AWARE OF THE SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE SHOULD ANYONE OR IF ANYONE HAS ALREADY BEEN INJURED OR KILLED BY THIS DEFECTIVE PART. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VENT AT THE DRIVER SIDE FAILED TO PROVIDE HEAT, AND IT CAUSED THE DEFROST SYSTEM NOT TO OPERATE AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN AT TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC, WHICH ADVISED THAT THE HEATING SWITCH CORD AND THE DOOR HEATING SYSTEM ACTUATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THE CONTACT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MANUFACTURERS VISIBILITY RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN INFORMATION WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.

I OWN A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. OVER THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF, I HAVE EXPERIENCED INCREASING ISSUES WITH MY WRANGLER IN THAT IT BEGINS TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN I AM DRIVING ABOVE 50 MPH AND HIT EVEN SMALL BUMPS IN THE ROAD. THIS PAST SUMMER I HAD IT WORKED ON TWICE IN ORDER TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN STORAGE SINCE SEPTEMBER AND I DROVE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS PAST WEEKEND. TODAY (12/23/14), I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AND IN LESS THAN 30 MILES, THE CAR BEGAN SHAKING 3 DIFFERENT TIMES. EACH TIME THIS HAPPENS, I HAVE TO BRING THE CAR TO A COMPLETE STOP (OBVIOUSLY, THIS IS DIFFICULT, AND SOMETIMES IMPOSSIBLE, ON THE FREEWAY). THE SITUATION BECOMES VERY DANGEROUS TO MYSELF AND THE DRIVERS AROUND ME. I HAVE MADE NO MODIFICATIONS TO MY WRANGLER. *TR

WHEN FUELING MY 2009 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED (SAHARA), GAS SPEWS BACK OUT OF THE TANK FOLLOWING THE AUTO SHUT OFF OF THE GAS PUMP. THIS IS MY SECOND FILL-UP SINCE PURCHASING THE JEEP NEW AND IT HAS HAPPENED BOTH TIME. IT OCCURRED AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS SO IT ISN'T A PROBLEM WITH THE PUMP OR NOZZLE. THE JEEP IS NOT PROPERLY VENTILATING THE GAS AND DETECTING THE LEVEL SO AS TO PREVENT THE GAS BLOW BACK. *JS
THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE JEEP WRANGLER CLOCK SPRING IN 2007+ MODELS. CURRENTLY A RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR 2007 AND 2008 LEFT HAND DRIVE MODELS, AND 2007-2012 RIGHT HAND DRIVE MODELS. A RECALL SHOULD BE MADE FOR ALL MODEL YEARS AND CONFIGURATIONS AS THIS ISSUE CAN LEAD TO THE AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THE CURRENT RECALL IS AS FOLLOWS: CHRYSLER IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2012 RIGHT HAND DRIVE (RHD) JEEP WRANGLER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM FEBRUARY 1, 2007, THROUGH OCTOBER 10, 2011. SOME VEHICLES MAY BE EQUIPPED WITH DRIVER'S AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLIES THAT COULD EXPERIENCE A COMPROMISED AIRBAG CIRCUIT RESULTING IN AN AIRBAG LAMP ILLUMINATION, WHICH INDICATES THAT THE AIRBAG MAY NOT DEPLOY. CONSEQUENCE: A BROKEN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT IN THE AIRBAG CLOCKSPRING WIRING ASSEMBLY CAN LEAD TO NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE DRIVER FRONTAL AIRBAG AND WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROPERLY PROTECT THE DRIVER IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURIES. REMEDY: CHRYSLER WILL NOTIFY OWNERS AND REMEDY THE VEHICLES AS NECESSARY FREE OF CHARGE. CHRYSLER WILL MAIL TO OWNERS AN INTERIM NOTIFICATION DURING MARCH 2012. I WAS ON GRATIGNY PKWY, IN MIAMI FLORIDA GOING ABOUT 58 MILES PER HOUR AND WHEN I WAS CROSSING THE OVER PASS TOWARDS I-75 NORTH THE FRONT TIRES BEGAN TO BOUNCE VIGOROUSLY LIKE IF THE FRONT END WAS GOING TO FALL APART. I SLOWED DOWN AND GOT TO THE SIDE BUT IT DID NOT STOP SHAKING TILL I CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN TO A VEHICLE WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE, BUT THE WARRANTY IS OVER OF COURSE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO PART UNAVAILABILITY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
