LET ME MENTION, THAT I BOUGHT THIS JEEP BRAND NEW, AND STARTED HAVING STEERING PROBLEMS ABOUT 4 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE. IT WOULD PULL TO THE DRIVERS SIDE, AND WHEN HITTING UNEVEN PAYMENT OR BUMP, FELT AS THOUGH STEERING WHEEL PULLED OUT OF MY HANDS. LEARNED EARLY ON TO HOLD STEERING WHEEL VERY TIGHTLY. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD MY TIRES NEEDED ROTATION AND SET AIR PRESSURE. MILEAGE AT THIS POINT WAS 4734. OVER TIME, LEARNED TO AVOID POTHOLES, UNEVEN PAYMENT OR ANY ROUGH ROAD. WHEN I DID TAKE IT IN TO DEALERSHIP, WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT IMITATE MY PROBLEM. STILL MAKING MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON THE JEEP WITH THIS CONTINUOUS PROBLEM WAS GETTING REALLY OLD. ON 11/25/11, 2 YEARS AND 4 MONTHS OF PUTTING UP WITH THIS CRAP, TOOK IT INTO DEALERSHIP AGAIN. THE STEERING WAS GETTING MORE OUT OF CONTROL AND I WOULD NOT ALLOW MY TEENAGE SON TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE. AT THIS POINT WAS TOLD NEEDED TIRES ROTATED AGAIN, AIR PRESSURE CHECK, REAR DISC BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDED, ALSO WAS TOLD NEEDED FRONT AND REAR DIFFERENTIAL FLUID SERVICE. HAD TO DECLINE, CAUSE AT THIS POINT, TOTAL WAS ALREADY UP TO 325.63. THEY WANTED ANOTHER 195.00 TO DO IT. ON 6/4/14, DURING INSPECTION, WAS TOLD I NEED NEW TIRES. MILEAGE WAS 26,753. HAD ENOUGH TREAD TO PASS. THEY WANTED 1017.00, WENT TO COSTCO, SAME TIRES FOR 300 LESS. 2/21/14, MORE STEERING PROBLEMS, THIS TIME NEEDED NEW DAMPER, STEERING DAMPER WEAK PLUS TRANSMISSION FLUID COOLER LINES NEEDED REPLACED. 6/14/14 STEERING/SUSPENSION EXHAUST HEAT SHIELD SEPARATED ON RIGHT SIDE HITTING OFF MUFFLER, ALSO FRONT AND REAR DIFF. SERVICE. COST 568.42, 8/14/14 BATTERY DIED. GETTING TO POINT, ON 9/12/14, ON PA I 79 TURNPIKE, HAD MY FIRST OFFICIAL DEATH WOBBLE AS I HAVE HEARD. LUCKY FOR ME, HAD A SHOULDER TO PULL OVER TO UNTIL IT STOPPED. SCARED THE S--- OUT OF ME. WHOLE FRONT END SHOCK SO VIOLENTLY, UNREAL. *TR
WHEN PULLING OUT INTO THE ROAD AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED OUT OF 1ST GEAR. IT WAS DANGEROUS AS I LOST MY ABILITY TO ACCELERATE WHEN I NEEDED IT THE MOST (CROSSING A BUSY ROAD). IT HAS BEEN SLIPPING OR POPPING OUT OF 1ST GEAR W INCREASING FREQUENCY. I TOOK IT TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP AND THEY FOUND A SERVICE BULLETIN POSTED BY THE MANUFACTURE OF ESSENTIALLY A KNOWN ISSUE THAT OTHER PEOPLE WERE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. THE JEEP HAS 28K MILES ON IT AND IS IN GREAT CONDITION OTHERWISE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT AND NOT CAUSES BY NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THIS PROBLEM HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THE DEALERSHIP WON'T FIX IT UNDER WARRANTY AND I FEEL IT SHOULD BE COVERED AS THIS PROBLEM IS BOTH A SAFETY ISSUE AND KNOWN DEFECT. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT IS REPEATEDLY COMING ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING INDICATING A FAULT IN THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. FROM READING ABOUT THIS ISSUE ONLINE, THERE APPEAR TO BE SEVERAL VEHICLES WITH SAME PROBLEM WHERE THE CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL IS FAULTY AND MAY COMPROMISE THE AIR BAG. JEEP IS REFUSING TO FIX IT OUTSIDE OF A 3YR OR 36000 MILE WARRANTY SO OWNERS ARE LEFT TO FIX THE ISSUE INVOLVING AIR BAGS THEMSELVES. *TR
TRANSMISSION OVERHEATS WHEN DRIVING UPHILL EVEN IN THE SNOW. (NEEDS A TRANNY COOLER). AIR BAG SENSOR FAILED. NOT COVERED BUT SAME PART FAILED IN 2007 AND IS COVERED BY WARRANTY. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON RENDERING IT USELESS. THE PROBLEM IS IN THE CLOCKSPRING. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS PART UP TO 2007. I HAVE A 2009 JKU AND CHRYSLER WON'T WARRANTY IT. THEY ARE STILL USING THE SAME PART THAT WAS RECALLED IN 2007. THERE IS A RECALL ON CURRENT RHD JEEPS WITH THIS EXACT PART. MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH A DOCUMENTED FAULTY PART THAT SHUTS OFF THE AIRBAG. CAN'T FIGURE WHY CHRYSLER WON'T FIX THIS SAFETY ISSUE. LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO TOYOTAS STOCK WITH THE PRIUS BRAKE ISSUE. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK UP THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF AND ALL THE GAS IN THE FILLER NECK COMES BACK OUT ALL OVER ME , THE JEEP AND ALL OVER THE GROUND. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 72 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS RELEASED HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT DECELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,900.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND STATED THAT THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V528000 (AIR BAGS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,300. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE ACTUATOR HAD WATER INSIDE IT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON, MAKE A TURN IT GOES OUT THEN COMES BACK ON AND CHIMES IN LESS THAN 60 SECONDS. THIS I FOUND IS A BAD CLOCKSPRING, AND A VERY COMMON ISSUE. CHRYSLER HAS A RECALL FOR RHD ONLY. THEY NEED TO INCLUDE LHD ITS A SAFETY ISSUE AIRBAGS...WILL NOT INFLATE WHEN LIGHT ON. *JS
LEFT HAND DRIVE 2009 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT AND CHIME KEEPS COMING ON ABOUT MINUTE GOES OUT FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. LOOKING AT SEVERAL FORUM, EDMUNDS, MOTOR TREND WEB SITES, THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER WONT ACCEPT THE PROBLEM WITH LEFT HAND DRIVE VEHICLES, BUT THEY HAVE ISSUED A RECALL FOR RIGHT HAND DRIVE. THEY NEED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE, ITS A SAFETY CONCERN, ARE THEY GOING TO WAIT FOR MAJOR LAW SUITS TO HAPPEN. PLEASE PLEASE PUSH THIS ISSUE . *TR
GAS TANK OVER FLOWS EVERYTIME I FILL GAS TANK, GOES ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE CAR, ALL OVER THE GROUND AND GETS ON ME . IT'S DANGEROUS, WASTEFUL AND IS DAMAGING THE FINISH ON THE OUTSIDE OF VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DIFFERENT INDEPENDENT MECHANICS WHO WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND RECOMMENDED THAT THE CONTACT TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS A DEFECTIVE SQUIB CONNECTOR, WHICH WAS OPEN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED WITHIN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V118000 (AIR BAGS AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000. I HAVE AN ERROR LIGHT FOR THE AIRBAGS THAT GO ON AND OFF BY ITSELF.

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THE CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,938.
WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK, GAS BACK SPLASHES AND GOES EVERYWHERE. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FILL FUEL TANK. YOU HAVE TO STAND BACK OR YOU WILL GET IT ON YOU. *TR
STEERING FREEZES WHILE DRIVING.THE STEERING STIFFENS SO HARD DURING TURNS (IN DRIVE OR REVERSE AND EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT), THAT THE WHEEL IS FROZEN STUCK IN WHATEVER THAT TURN POSITION IS AND NO AMOUNT OF ALL-MUSCLE FORCE HELPS, THE DIRECTION OF THE VEHICLE AND ANY TURNING OF THE STEERING WHEEL TO STRAIGHTEN THE WHEELS IS INCREASINGLY NOT AN OPTION. RECENTLY THIS OCCURRED WHILE LEFT TURNING ONTO THE HIGHWAY AT APPROX 10MPH. IT VERY OFTEN HAPPENS WHILE SIMPLY PARKING (PARALLEL OR BACKING IN). TOOK JEEP TO A CHRYSLER-JEEP DEALER FOR AN OIL&LUBE AND ADVISED THEM OF THE ISSUE AND FOR THEM TO CHECK IT OUT, THEY STATED COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG (!). YESTERDAY I PAID $55 FOR SAME DEALER TO CHECK AGAIN, THIS TIME THEY RECOMMENDED REPLACING 'STEERING GEAR BOX' FOR $1100 WARRANTY EXPIRED PART. THINKING THIS MAY BE COVERED UNDER THE LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY (ENGINE/TRANSMISSION/DRIVE SYSTEM PER CHRYSLER-JEEP'S WEB SITE) THAT CAME WITH THE JEEP (THAT I HAD TO PROVE WAS EVER OFFERED BY CHRYSLER (HAD TO FIND ORIGINAL MANUFACTURE STICKER THAT WAS ON THE WINDOW OF JEEP WHEN I SELECTED IT FOR PURCHASE & MY ORIGINAL PURCHASE PAPERS), AS THEY DID NOT WANT TO HONOR (!!!), I CALLED CHRYSLER CUSTOMER CARE, WHOSE REP STATED "PART WAS ONLY COVERED UNDER BASIC WARRANTY, NOT THE LIFETIME". AAUGH! RESEARCHED JEEP FORUM ONLINE TO FIND THAT MANY JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS HAVE ISSUES WITH THE STEERING GEAR BOX USED BY CHRYSLER THAT GO WELL BEYOND STEERING WHEEL FREEZING UP WHILE DRIVING. WHAT IF SOMEONE DOES A CENTER LANE LEFT AT A MAJOR INTERSECTION AND THE STEERING FREEZES...STUCK IN LEFT TURN POSITION? PLEASE PLEASE FORCE RECALL ON JEEPS STEERING GEAR BOX BEFORE PEOPLE GET HURT. TURNING LEFT ONTO A HIGHWAY AND THE STEERING FREEZES IN THE LEFT TURN POSITION LEAVING ME TO ENVISION GOING OVER THE EMBANKMENT INTO MORNING RUSH HOUR. MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND MY CRUISE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY STATED IT WOULD BE $500 TO FIX BECAUSE IT IS NOT A RECALLED ITEM. I HAVE BEEN WAITING PATIENTLY FOR THE RECALL BECAUSE MANY OTHER JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. MY VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. ONE DAY I SIMPLY WENT TO START THE JEEP AND THE LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS HEADED TO WORK AND ALWAYS USE MY CRUISE CONTROL WHEN I AM ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT IT WOULD NOT WORK.

AIRBAG LIGHT GOES ON/OFF WHILE DRIVING. DOES NOT MATTER IF TURNING, ACCELERATING, ETC. READING PRIOR THREADS, IT LOOKS LIKE THE CLOCK SPRING UNDER THE HORN IS THE ISSUE. CONCERNED THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IF INVOLVED IN A CRASH, AND THE LIGHT IS ON. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY VALVE STEM FELL INTO RIM THIS ,I BELIEVE WAS CAUSED DO THE FACT THE STEEL RIM HAS A LIP THAT HOLDS WATER IF THE VALVE STEM IS IN THE SIX O CLOCK POSITION IT SITS IN WATER /THE ONLY WAY THE WATER CAN BE REMOVED IS BY THE RIM TURNING ,THE RIM IS STEEL ,THE STEM IS ALUMINUM THE LOCK NUT IS ALUMINUM ALL OF THESE DIFFERENT METALS MIXED WITH WATER CREATES A CORROSION (ELECTROLASIS) PROBLEM INSIDE THE RIM THE VALVE STEM CONNECTS TO THE TPMS SENSOR ON OTHER MODEL JEEPS THE VALVE STEM IS RUBBER IT SEEMS TO ELIMINATE THE CORROSION PROBLEM I CALLED JEEP CASE#25386092 OFFERED NO RESULTS. ON THE 2009 JEEP WRANGLER JK DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON AND CHIMES RANDOMLY (NO SPECIFIC TIME OR ACTIVITY CAUSED), AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING OR INTERFERING WITH THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS.THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY JEEP WRANGLER OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE 2009 JEEP WRANGLER KDURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. CHRYSLER HAS APPROXIMATELY 5 DIFFERENT RECALLS ON JK JEEPS REVOLVING AROUND THE AIR BAG SYSTEM. CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY CONCERN OF THEIR FAULTY CLOCKSPRING THAT CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS FROM PROPERLY DEPLOYING. *JS

AROUND 30,000 MILES I WOULD NOTICE A SLIGHT SHIMMY IN THE FRONT END AT FREEWAY SPEEDS WHEN A SMALL BUMP WAS HIT. THIS WOULD USUALLY LAST A FEW SECONDS AND THEN DRIVE NORMAL. I READ SOME THING ONLINE ABOUT THIS AND IT SEEMED LIKE IT WAS A NORMAL THING FOR THIS 4DR JEEP MODEL. IN EARLY MARCH 2014 ABOUT 39000 MILES I HIT A BIG BUMP ON THE FREEWAY AND THE FRONT END SHIMMY WAS SO INTENSE I THOUGHT THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE WAS FLAT AT FIRST IT SEEMED LIKE IT WAS COMING OFF. A FEW HOURS LATER THIS HAPPENED AGAIN BEFORE I MADE IT HOME. I DID RESEARCH AND FOUND THE REFERENCES TO THE "DEATH WOBBLE" AND KNEW THAT'S WHAT IT WAS. I WAS THANKFUL NO ONE ELSE WAS IN THE CAR WITH ME. ANOTHER JEEP OWNER I KNOW KNEW THE TERM AND HAD HEARD ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS. THEN APRIL 1ST HIT A BUMP I COULD NOT AVOID ON THE POT HOLE INFESTED MILWAUKEE STREETS AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN THE TIRE FELT LIKE IT WAS COMING OFF AND ALMOST HAD ACCIDENT IN THE CONSTRUCTION ZONE I WAS IN. CALLED DEALER AND THEY KNEW EXACTLY WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. APPARENTLY CHRYSLER SWITCHED THE DAMPENER/BRACKETS AFTER THE 2009 YR MODELS WHEN THEY NOTICED PROBLEMS. FUNNY HOW THAT REPLACEMENT I HAD TO HAVE DONE COST ME $ 400+. YOU WOULD THINK IF THEY KNOW THERE WAS A PROBLEM THIS WOULDN'T COST THE CONSUMER A PENNY. ESPECIALLY SINCE IT IS MY LIFE IN JEOPARDY. *TR

DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY CONCERN OF THEIR FAULTY CLOCKSPRING FOR NEW MODELS THAN 2008 THAT CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS FROM PROPERLY DEPLOYING. *JS
I HAVE A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED X, PURCHASED NEW. A FEW YEARS AFTER PURCHASE I BEGAN EXPERIENCING 'DEATH WOBBLE.' A MECHANIC'S DIAGNOSTIC STATED MY TRACK BAR WAS BENT AND MY BUSHINGS WERE WORN AND NEEDED REPLACING AS A RESULT OF ALL THE VIOLENT SIDE TO SIDE SHAKING. THIS WAS REPAIRED AT GREAT EXPENSE OUT OF POCKET. THIS REPAIR SEEMED EFFECTIVE FOR SOME TIME BEFORE THE SPEED WOBBLE STARTED UP AGAIN THIS PAST YEAR. DURING ONE EPISODE, THE HARSH SHAKING CAUSED MY LEFT SIDE BLINKERS AND BRAKE LIGHT TO FAIL. NO ONE SHOULD REASONABLY BE EXPECTED TO OPERATE A VEHICLE WHEN IT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO SUDDENLY, UNEXPECTEDLY, UNCONTROLLABLY, VIOLENTLY, HARSHLY, AND DANGEROUSLY START SHAKING, ESPECIALLY WHILE IN OPERATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. I AVOID DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY ANYMORE BECAUSE I CAN'T KEEP UP WITH THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC BEFORE JARRING SHAKING WILL START. ANY DRIVING IS NOW INCREASINGLY DANGEROUS TO ME, MY PASSENGERS, AND OTHER NEARBY DRIVERS. THE UNCONTROLLABLY VIOLENT SHAKING IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL, FRIGHTENING, AND FORCES ME TO ABRUPTLY PULL OVER, GREATLY INCREASING MY CHANCES OF BEING SEVERELY INJURED OR EVEN KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT. IT IS NOT RIGHT FOR JEEP OWNERS TO SUFFER THIS. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR JEEP. THEY SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR AND REIMBURSE JEEP OWNERS ANY AND ALL COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH REPAIRS, ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION, INJURIES, DEATHS, DISTRESS, OR ANY OTHER CONDITIONS OR COMPLICATIONS ARISING FROM, RELATED TO, OR OTHERWISE RESULTING FROM 'DEATH WOBBLE.' CAUSES FOR THIS HAZARD VARY, SO DIAGNOSTICS AND REPAIRS CAN BE EXTREMELY LENGTHY AND COSTLY, NOT TO MENTION REPAIRS NEEDED FOR OTHER AREAS OF THE VEHICLE WORN AND DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF SUCH AGGRESSIVELY UNSAFE SHAKING. WHEN I DID, THE GAS TANK CLICKED OFF BUT GAS STILL CAME POURING OUT OF THE TANK (NOT THE NOZZLE). I WAS INCREDIBLY IRRITATED I JUST BOUGHT THIS JEEP AND NOW THERE WAS GAS POURING DOWN THE SIDE AND FENDERS. AFTER CLEANING IT UP I CHAULKED IT UP AS FAULTY EQUIPMENT AT THE GAS STATION . HOWEVER, THE NEXT 2 TIMES I FILLED UP, THE SAME THING HAPPENED. THIS IS INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATING. NOT ONLY IS IT DANGEROUS BUT ITS DISGUSTING. NOT TO MENTION THESE VEHICLES AREN'T CHEAP, WE DON'T NEED TO BE WORRIED ABOUT GAS EATING AWAY AT THE VEHICLE AS ANOTHER EXPENSIVE. WAS DRIVING WITH LOW SPEED WHEN I HEARD THE CAR ALARM AND HEAVY SMOKE STARTED TO SHOW FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I HAD NO FULL COVERAGE ON THE TRUCK SO I HAD TO TAKE CHANCE TO OPEN THE HOOD AND REMOVE THE BATTERY CABLE BEFORE THE WHOLE CAR GOES ON FIRE. WHEN FILLING FUEL TANK, GAS NOZZLE KICKS OFF THEN FUEL SPLASHES BACK OUT OF FILLER NECK AND GOES EVERY WHERE, ANY WHERE FROM A QUART TO MORE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SUDDENLY BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE CAUSING THE DRIVER TO NEARLY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING STABILIZER BAR WAS DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. ALSO, THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE SUDDENLY DEFLATED. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE TIRE AIR VALVE WAS FRACTURED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE DEFECT RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
I PURCHASED A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER NEW. I HAVE NOT MODIFIED MY CAR IN ANY WAY, NOR HAVE I EVER TAKEN IT "OFF-ROAD OR FOUR-WHEELING". ' IN MARCH 2014 I EXPERIENCED MY FIRST "DEATH WOBBLE",' AN EXTREMELY VIOLENT, SHAKING OF THE FRONT WHEELS. SINCE THEN, IT HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES, RESULTING IN REPAIRS (THAT STILL HAVEN'T SOLVED THE PROBLEM) TOTALING OVER $2000.00. I'M HESITANT TO TAKE IT IN FOR REPAIRS AGAIN BECAUSE NO ONE KNOWS HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND I DON''T HAVE THE MONEY TO KEEP MAKING REPAIRS FOR AN UNKNOWN PROBLEM. AIRBAG WARNING CHIME AND LIGHT COME ON WHEN VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. BOTH RESET WHEN VEHICLE IS STOPPED. CAUSE OF FAILURE IS BAD AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING. RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR RIGHT HAND DRIVE WRANGLERS BUT DOES NOT COVER LEFT HAND DRIVE WRANGLES. I AM A AVID OFF ROAD ENTHUSIAST AND BELIEVE THE EXPOSURE TO DIRT/DUST IS THE ROOT CAUSE. AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. AFTER SOME QUICK INTERNET RESEARCH IT SEEMS THE CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL OF 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 AND 2012 JEEP WRANGLERS FAILS. THIS CAUSES AND OPEN CIRCUIT AND AIR BAG DISABLES. VEHICLES WAS BROUGHT TO JEEP DEALER ON APRIL 19, 2014. DEALER VERIFIED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING WAS BAD AND THERE WAS AN OPEN CIRCUIT TO THE DRIVER AIR BAG. JEEP WOULD NOT ASSIST IN REPLACEMENT OF THE PART SAYING IT WAS WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ITEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE HAVE BEEN MANY REPORTS OF THIS PART FAILING EARLY IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. DEALER CHARGED ME $320 PARTS AND LABOR FOR THE REPAIR. WE CALLED AUTOPARK CHRYSLER, THE DEALER WE BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY SAID THAT SINCE WE DID OUR LAST OIL CHANGE ON OUR OWN THAT THE WARRANTY WAS VOID AND THAT WE WOULD BE CHARGED TO DX THE PROBLEM AND THE ENGINE WOULD BE $7K. WE HAD THE ENGINE REPLACE AT ANOTHER SHOP. COST $5K. AT TIME OF REPAIR WE FOUND OUT THAT THE PROBLEM STEM FROM A MFG DEFECT. THE OIL PRESSURE VALVE LOCATED INSIDE THE ENGINE WAS MADE OF PLASTIC AND WAS COMPLETELY MELTED. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER BY EMAIL AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE WE DID NOT HAVE THE POWERTRAIN INSPECTION DONE THE WARRANTY WAS VOID. I EXPLAINED WE WERE NOT WANTING TO FILE A WARRANTY CLAIM. WE WERE REQUESTING REIMBURSEMENT BECAUSE OF A MFG DEFECT. THEY REFUSED TO COVER COST OF REPAIRS. I THAN GOT CONNECTED WITH A CASE MANAGER AT CHRYSLER. SHE SAID I HAD TO GET THE POWERTRAIN INSPECTED BY 11-18-14. IT FAILED BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED I THAN SPOKE TO [XXX] WITH CHRYSLER. HE SAID THAT I SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED CHRYSLER IN FEB 2014 NOT THE DEALER REGARDING THE WARRANTY. THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE OFFERED TO DO A FREE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY INSPECTION THAN OR REFER ME TO CONTACT CHRYSLER. [XXX] ALSO SAID THAT THE POWERTRAIN INSPECTION I WAS REQUIRED TO HAVE DONE NOV WAS TO NEGATE THEIR RESPONSIBILITY ON THE REPLACED ENGINE. WE FEEL THAT CHRYSLER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF REPAIRS.THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY PLASTIC PARTS INSIDE THE ENGINE. CHRYSLER IS VERY AWARE OF THIS DEFECT. THE DEALER SHOULD HAVE TOLD US THEY NEEDED TO PERFORM A FREE INSPECTION OF THE MOTOR WHEN IT FAILED IN FEB 2014 TO DETERMINE IF THE REPAIRS WOULD BE COVERED RATHER THAN TURN US AWAY STATING THE WARRANTY WAS VOID, OR AT LEAST REFER US TO CALL CHRYSLER.PLEASE UNDERSTAND, MY CONCERN IS NOT REGARDING MAINTAINING THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY. FILLING UP GAS AT STATION - SPLASH BACK ON 2 OCCASIONS, TODAY (03 FEBRUARY 2014) AND LAST WEEK (26 JANUARY 2014), THE GAS NOZZLE WAS IN THE AUTOMATIC POSITION. IN BOTH TIMES, A SPLASH BACK OF GASOLINE OCCURRED WHEN THE GAS NOZZLE REACHED THE FULL LEVEL AND THE HANDLE CLICKED. THIS OCCURRED AT 2 DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. APPROXIMATE 1-CUP OF GAS SPLASHED OUT AT EACH OCCURRENCE. I DROVE HOME AND WASHED THE SPLASH AREA WITH SOAP AND WATER. END *TR

DURING REFUELING FOR THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS WE HAVE EXPERIENCE FUEL SPIT BACK.
