2009 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH HOOD LATCHES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, AN 18-WHEELER PASSED IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION GOING APPROXIMATELY THE SAME SPEED, WHEN SUDDENLY THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. WHEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN, HE THEN NOTICED THE HOOD VIOLENTLY BOUNCING UP AND DOWN. THE CONSUMER FOUND A CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION ON THE INTERNET REGARDING THE HOOD LATCH. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE ENTIRE FRONT SUSPENSION BROKE, ALMOST CAUSING A CRASH. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND LOOK UNDER THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE AXLES WERE SPLIT IN TWO PLACES. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND IT WAS THEN TOWED TO A LOCAL DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIR COSTS. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,300. UPDATED 01/21/11 *BF UPDATED 04/15/11
INTERMITTENT FUEL OVERFLOW WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK. AT FIRST IT WAS A ONCE IN A WHILE THING, MAYBE ONCE EVERY 10 FILL UPS, BUT RECENTLY HAS STARTED TO BE A RECURRING ISSUE. ABOUT 2-4 CUPS OF GAS WILL COME OUT OF THE FILLER NECK, DRIPPING DOWN THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND. SOME OF THIS MODELS FROM PREVIOUS YEARS HAD A RECALL OR SAFETY UPDATE THAT REPLACE PART OF THE FUEL FILLER TUBE TO INCLUDE A CHECK VALVE. I HAVE TALKED WITH OTHER JEEP OWNERS WITH THE SAME MODEL YEAR THAT ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE AND HAVE READ ABOUT OTHERS HAVING THIS ISSUE AS WELL. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER TO INQUIRE ABOUT GETTING THE FIX FOR THE EARLIER MODELS APPLIED TO MY VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD THAT DUE TO THE AGE AND MILEAGE, CERTAIN THINGS ARE EXPECTED TO NEED REPLACEMENT AND AS A VEHICLE OWNER, I NEED TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THAT. I UNDERSTAND THAT, BUT WHEN THE REPLACEMENT PART THAT IS NEEDED IS CONTROLLED BY CHRYSLER AND NOT AVAILABLE FOR SALE TO PRIVATE INDIVIDUALS, THIS BECOMES ANOTHER ISSUE. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO FIND A DEALER THAT WOULD SELL ME THE RECALL REPLACEMENT PART. *TR
DEALER DIAGNOSED A FAILURE IN THE CLOCKSPRING CIRCUIT. AIR BAGS WILL NOW NOT DEPLOY IN CRASH. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING OVER 40 MPH, THE ENTIRE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE SHOOK VIOLENTLY. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL HAD TO BE RELEASED IN ORDER FOR THE CONTACT TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE. THE FRONT SUSPENSION BUSHING WAS REPLACED. ALSO, THE CONTACT HAD AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC PERFORM A FRONT END ALIGNMENT HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE A WARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,000. UPDATED 12/21/12 *CN UPDATED 01/09/13
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED X. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND DROVE OVER A ROAD BUMP. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE VIOLENTLY, CAUSING DIFFICULTY IN MAINTAINING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE FRONT END DAMPER SHOCK WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.

THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO FIRST GEAR AND THEN INDEPENDENTLY SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. THE FAILURE CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE HAD OCCURRED AT LEAST SEVEN TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON HIS VEHICLE OR FOR THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,000.
GAS OVERFLOWS FROM TANK THROUGH FUEL FILLER NECK AS GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF. CAN HAPPEN WITHOUT TOPPING OFF FUEL. FUEL RUNS DOWN SIDE OF VEHICLE. POSSIBLE FIRE HAZARD ?
2009 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER WRITES ON BEHALF OF HIS WIFE WHO WAS INVOLVED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE MADE A LEFT TURN IN FRONT OF HER. RIGHT AFTER THE IMPACT, THE JEEP REMAINED IN DRIVE AND CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT ALSO IGNITED, RESULTING IN A FIRE *TGW AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS BROUGHT TO A HALT, AND A FIRE RETARDANT WAS APPLIED TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAME, AS THE JEEP WAS BEING SET UP FOR TOWING, THE FIRE RE-IGNITED AND CAUSED ADDITIONAL DAMAGE. *JB
I OWN A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER 2 DOOR MODEL THAT HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WHEN I FILL UP MY GAS TANK. I HAVE SEEN ON NUMEROUS ONLINE FORUMS THAT I AM NOT ALONE IN THIS MATTER. WHEN I USE THE PUMP TO FILL MY TANK IT WILL AUTO SHUT OFF THE PUMP THEN SPEW AT LEAST 2-3 CUPS OF GASOLINE OUT OF THE GAS INTAKE ONTO THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE, GROUND AND ON OCCASION MYSELF. I HAVE READ THAT MANY HAVE ALSO FILLED A COMPLIANT SO THAT CHRYSLER WILL PERFORM A RECALL WHILE OTHERS HAVE PAID OUT OF POCKET TO FIX THIS ISSUES. I DO NOT FEEL THAT IT IS FAIR TO HAVE PAYING CUSTOMERS PAY FOR AN OBVIOUS DESIGN OR FUEL SYSTEM FLAW.
2009 JEEP WRANGLER. CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION *TGW THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION LIGHT NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE CONSUMER STATED HAD THE WARNING SYSTEM BEEN WORKING PROPERLY, HE COULD HAVE STOPPED AND PREVENTED EXCESSIVE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. *JB
LINKAGE BROKEN THAT ENGAGES AND DISENGAGES TRANSFER CASE. BUSHING AND CABLE HAS BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES.
2007-2010 JEEP JK WRANGLER (ALL MODELS) MANUAL 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION TRANSMISSION VIOLENTLY JUMPS OUT OF GEAR (JOG) IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR WHEN STARTING FROM A STOP. THE ACTION IS QUICK, VIOLENT AND SOUNDS LIKE THE VEHICLE HIT A CURB OR ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE MOVEMENT OF THE SHIFT HANDLE IS VIOLENT ENOUGH TO CAUSE HAND INJURY INCLUDING BROKEN BONES. IN ADDITION, THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS THE VEHICLE CAN BECOME MOMENTARILY UNABLE TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP OR SLOW SPEED (I.E. AVOIDING OTHER VEHICLES, OBJECTS ETC.). THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS ALMOST DAILY ON THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. SOME QUICK RESEARCH REVEALS THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM AS DOCUMENTED BY OTHER JEEP OWNERS/OPERATORS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE A MANUFACTURER VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, ASSOCIATED WITH THE NOTIFICATION CODE OF J31. THE CONTACT WAS IN DISAGREEMENT WITH THE RECALL REMEDY RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION. HE WAS ALSO IN THE PROCESS OF NOTIFYING THE MANUFACTURER CONCERNING THE INSUFFICIENT RECALL REMEDY. THERE WERE NO FAILURES AT THIS TIME. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK THE FUEL WILL SPIT BACK OUT OF THE TANK. THIS CREATES A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF FUEL BEING SHOT BACK AT THE PERSON FILLING UP THE VEHICLE AND IT ALSO CREATES AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON THE LAST FEW OCCASIONS WHEN RE-FUELING THE VEHICLE. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH WHEN THE ESP/BAS WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WHICH RESULTED IN A COMPLETE LOSS IN THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE CLOCK SPRING MODULE WAS BEING REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME WITHIN ONE YEAR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14,400. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

S10 COMEBACK-LETTER TO THE SECRETARY FROM SENATOR ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE JEEP STABILITY PROBLEMS (REPLY DIRECTLY TO CONSTITUENT). *KB THE CONSUMER STATED WHILE DRIVING, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND WARNED HIM THAT HE WAS SLIDING ON A STRAIGHT SECTION ON THE INTERSTATE WHICH WAS DRY. THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE LOCKED UP, WHICH ALMOST CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. HIS FOOT WAS ON THE ACCELERATOR AND WAS BEING FORCED OFF THE ROAD ONTO A GRASS EMBANKMENT. THE ESP/BAS INDICATOR THEN INDICATED THAT THE SYSTEM HAD A PROBLEM AND HAD BEEN DISABLED. BECAUSE THE SYSTEM HAD SHUT DOWN, THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO RETURN HOME WHERE HE COLLECTED INFORMATION ON THE ESP SYSTEM. THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED. *JB
THE TRANSMISSION OIL TEMPERATURE GOT HOT AND BOILED OVER. I BELIEVE THIS IS DUE TO JEEPS POOR TRANSMISSION COOLER DESIGN. IT IS ON THE BOTTOM SIDE OF THE RADIATOR AND DOES NOT RECEIVE DIRECT AIR FLOW TO KEEP COOL. *TR
AS THE JEEP WAS BROUGHT UP TO SPEED IT BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND OUT OF CONTROL AS THE SPEED APPROACHED 50 MPH. THE SHAKING CONTINUED AS I BRAKED TO A STOP. THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO OPERATE WITH THIS "DEATH WOBBLE". THE PROBLEM IS REPEATABLE AND HAPPENS AT THE SAME SPEED OCCASIONALLY WHEN BUMPS ARE HIT. *TR
CLOCK SPRING FAILED TO TO DATE THE CLOCK SPRING HAS BEEN REPLACED 3X AND NOW NEEDS ANOTHER ONE THEY ONLY HAVE A 1 YEAR WARRANTY. AIR BAG LIGHT ON HORN DISABLED NO CRUISE CONTROL NO TRACTION CONTROL OR ANTILOCK BRAKES WHAT CLOCK SPRING FAILS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE EXAMINING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
AS WITH HUNDREDS OF OTHER LEFT HAND STEER JEEP OWNERS, OUR AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON, HORN DOES NOT WORK, AND CRUISE CONTROL IS INOPERATIVE. NHTSA AND JEEP HAVE DEEMED IT OKAY TO REPAIR THESE PROBLEMS ON THE RIGHT HAND STEER WHICH IS A VERY SMALL PERCENT OF ALL JEEPS. GET ON IT, START THE RECALL, IT IS UNSAFE, AND WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO PAY THE PRICE WHEN JEEP/DODGE/CHRYSLER KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THIS FIXED AND TALKING TO OTHER 2009 OWNERS SINCE MARCH OF 2010. LET'S GO.

A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED ACCORDINGLY. THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT BUT THE CAUSE WAS DEEMED AS UNKNOWN. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THERE WAS ALSO FIRE DAMAGE TO THE CONTACTS HOME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 667.
A HANDFUL OF INSTANCES OVER THE PAST MONTH, MY 2009 JEEP WRANGLER VIOLENTLY AND UNEXPECTEDLY POPS OUT OF FIRST GEAR UPON ACCELERATION. THIS COULD RESULT IN A REAR END COLLISION, POTENTIAL ACCIDENT WHILE CROSSING TRAFFIC LANES OR UPON ACCELERATION ONTO A HIGHWAY LIKE THE SAWMILL PARKWAY WHERE YOU ENTER THE HIGHWAY FROM A DEAD STOP. IN ADDITION TO THE POTENTIAL CATASTROPHIC RESULTS DUE TO AN ACCIDENT, THE SHIFTER WHEN IT VIOLENTLY DISENGAGES CAN RESULT IN A DAMAGE TO THE DRIVERS HAND OR FINGERS. MY FINGERS TO A SIGNIFICANT HIT THE FIRST TIME I EXPERIENCED THE PROBLEM. THROUGH A SEARCH ON THE INTERNET, I SEE THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO OTHER WRANGLER OWNERS. *TR
JEEP "DEATH WOBBLE" STEERING WHEEL OSCILLATES VIOLENTLY BACK AND FORTH AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AFTER HITTING SMALL BUMP IN ROAD, CAR TAKEN TO JEEP DEALER TSB WHICH CALLS FOR LARGER STEERING STABLIZER INSTALLATION DONE, ALL SUSPENSION PARTS FOUND TO BE GOOD INCLUDING TIRES AND BALANCE, HOWEVER, PROBLEM STILL OCCURS, FEAR FOR LIFE FOR MYSELF AND FAMILY WHEN DRIVING CAR ESPECIALLY IN WINTER. *TR
FUEL TANK WILL OVERFLOW SPILLING ANYWHERE FROM 1-2 QUARTS OF FUEL FROM VEHICLE WHEN AUTOMATIC FUEL PUMPS ARE USED. IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THE TANK DOES NOT VENT PROPERLY, WHEN THE AUTOMATIC FUEL PUMPS SHUT OFF (REGARDLESS OF STATION) THE TANK APPEARS TO "BURP" VENTING MORE GASES AND 1-2 QUARTS OF FUEL. THIS IS A CONSISTENT PROBLEM HAPPENING REGULARLY (EVERY SECOND OR THIRD FILL UP). *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN SHAKING VIOLENTLY AS THE ENTIRE VEHICLE BEGAN SHAKING ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT A WHEEL ALIGNMENT WOULD NEED TO BE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHIFTED FROM FIRST GEAR TO NEUTRAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD ALTHOUGH THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED, THEY COULD INSTALL A FIRST AND SECOND GEAR SYNCHRONIZER. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT AWAITING THE PART. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 10,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 25,000.
ABOUT 1/2 A GALLON OF GAS OVERFLOWS AND SPILLS WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK OF A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME I FILL UP THE TANK AND THE SIDE BODY PANEL AND PART OF THE REAR BUMPER AS WELL AS THE GROUND GET SOAKED WITH GASOLINE. I'VE CONTACTED THE DEALER REGARDING THE ISSUE BUT SINCE A RECENT RECALL ONLY INCLUDES 2007 AND 2008 MODELS, MY JEEP COULD NOT GET FIXED. *TR

FRONT AXLE UPPER AND LOWER BALL JOINTS SHOWING ABNORMAL WEAR AND MOVEMENT. DEALER CLAIMS WEAR AND PLAY IN JOINTS IS NORMAL EVEN THOUGH THE FACTORY SERVICE MANUAL SAYS THE PARTS ARE WORN AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING AT 75 MPH IN THE LEFT LANE I WANDERED OVER THE YELLOW LINE AND THE LEFT FRONT TIRE RAN OVER THE INDENTED 'WAKE UP' IMPRESSIONS IN THE ASPHALT AT WHICH TIME MY FRONT END BEGAN VIOLENTLY SHAKING LIKE I WAS DRIVING A JACK HAMMER. I BEGAN TO BRAKE AND MADE IT ACROSS 6 LANES OF TRAFFIC BEFORE I COULD COME TO A STOP. THE SHAKING DID NOT STOP UNTIL I CAME TO A STOP. I INSPECTED THE FRONT END COMPONENTS AND ALL WERE FINE. I SLOWLY DROVE OFF AND THE PROBLEM NO LONGER EXISTED. THIS PROBLEM IS 'DEATH WOBBLE' AND IS ALL OVER JEEP MESSAGE FORUMS ON THE INTERNET. *TR
2009 JEEP WRANGLER WITH SIX SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. ON START FROM STANDING STOP TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP ACTUAL "POP" OUT OF FIRST GEAR. PROBLEM IS RANDOM AND INTERMITTENT BUT WILL OCCUR TWO TO THREE TIMES DURING A DRIVING DAY. CAR HAS LEFT ME VULNERABLE IN TRAFFIC AS I TRY TO RE-ENGAGE TRANSMISSION TO GET OUT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC'S WAY. SEARCH ON WEB INDICATES IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM TO OWNERS OF 2007-2009 JK WRANGLER OWNERS BUT JEEP HAS NOT ISSUED ANY TSB OR OTHER FIX. DEALER WILL NOT REPAIR INTERMITTENT PROBLEM. I AM GOING TO GET KILLED IN THIS THING IF THEY DON'T FIX IT. *TR
THE WIPERS KEEP TURNING ON BY THEMSELVES AND SOMETIMES WON'T SHUT OFF. THEY ALSO SOMETIMES COME ON WHEN THE TURN SIGNALS ARE USED, AND AGAIN SOMETIMES WON'T TURN OFF. THEY SOMETIMES WON'T TURN ON. ALSO, BULBS, SUCH AS HEADLIGHT, MARKERS, AND FOG LIGHTS KEEP BLOWING OUT ON AN EXTREMELY FREQUENT BASIS. ALL THESE THING HAPPEN WHEN THE JEEP IS BOTH IN MOTION AND IDLING BOTH ON CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAY DRIVING.....GOING FOREWORD AND DURING MID TURN. WHILE ACCELERATING AND BRAKING. ALL OCCURRENCES HAVE HAPPENED DURING ALL 4 NEW YORK SEASONS. AND AT NO SPECIFIC TIME OF DAY. WE HAVE NO PHOTOS BUT THIS HAPPENS AT VARIOUS TIMES AND HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES SINCE THE JEEP WAS BOUGHT NEW IN 2010 AND THIS WAS BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALERSHIP WHICH INFORMED ME THAT THEY DID NOT PHYSICALLY "SEE" IT HAPPEN THEREFORE COULD NOT DIAGNOSE. I WILL PUT A DATE IN THE "WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN BOX" BELOW AS A START POINT...BUT KNOW IT HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AND CONTINUES TO HAPPEN TO THIS DAY. *TR
1) DURING THE PERIOD OF PLACING THE MANUAL 6 SPEED INTO FIRST GEAR, THE GEAR WILL SPORADICALLY POP OUT AND ABRUPTLY BACK INTO NEUTRAL. IT DOES NOT SEEM TO MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE AS TO THE TEMPERATURES NOR CONDITIONS OUTSIDE. IT OCCURS UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. (STATE/CITY ROAD 2WD) 2) THE FAILURE IS THAT WITHOUT WARNING IN A SPORADIC STATE, 1ST GEAR WHILE ENGAGED AND MOVING AT EITHER 1 - 10 MPH WILL ABRUPTLY POP OUT OF FIRST AND LAND IN NEUTRAL WITH A LOUD THUD WHEN OCCURRING. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE IN THAT IF ONE IS PULLING ONTO A ROAD TO GO WITH OR AGAINST TRAFFIC AND THIS OCCURS, THE END RESULT COULD BE LIFE THREATENING. IF ONE PULLS ONTO A ROAD AND A CAR IS MOVING AT 40 MPH AND IS UNABLE STOP, A HIGH PROBABILITY EXISTS WHEREAS A T-BONE ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR THUS CAUSING DEATH. WITHIN 2500 MILES, THIS INCIDENT HAS OCCURRED 10+ TIMES. 3) A SERVICE VISIT IS CURRENTLY SCHEDULED, ALTHOUGH IF IT IS A COLLAR OR SYNCHRONIZING ISSUE, IT WILL AS LIKELY AS NOT BE REPAIRED. THE INCIDENT DOES NOT DUPLICATE TIME AFTER TIME. AS I MENTIONED, IT HAS OCCURRED IT 10+ TIMES WITHIN 2500 MILES. ROUGHLY 2.5% OF THE TIME WITHIN THE 0 MILES TO 2500 MILES THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED. HOWEVER, THIS IS NOT THE MOST ACCURATE RESULT DUE TO 1ST GEAR ONLY BEING UTILIZED WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STAND STILL. ON THE 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION THE 2009 JEEP WRANGLER WILL VIOLENTLY SLIP OUT OF 1ST GEAR INTO NEUTRAL WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THE CONTACT HAD NOT YET TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER REGARDING THE FUEL TANK FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE THAT COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,100.

I HAVE HAD THIS JEEP IN TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES NOW FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS ONLY 2 AND A HALF YEARS OLD. THE FIRST TIME I BROUGHT IT IN WAS APPROX 4 MONTHS AFTER I BOUGHT THE TRUCK BRAND NEW. THEY HAVE YET TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WHEN YOU DRIVE APPROX. 55 MPH ON A HIGHWAY, AND POSSIBLY HIT A LITTLE BUMP, THE CAR WILL SHAKE UNCONTROLABLY. YOU CANNOT HIT THE BREAK OR IT GETS WORSE BUT SOMETIMES YOUR FORCED TO BECAUSE YOU WILL CRASH OTHERWISE. THE WHOLE FRONT END WOBBLES TO A POINT WHERE YOU LOOSE ALL CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALSHIP STATED THE FIRST TIME AFTER IT HAPPENED THAT THEY FIXED IT... THE OTHER TWO TIMES THEY SAID THE SAME THING . THE FOURTH TIME THEY DECIDED TO SAY IT WAS MY TIRES. ( I DONT KNOW WHY THEY ALL OF A SUDDEN CHANGED THE PROBLEM). ROTATING THE TIRES FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS UNTIL I HAD TO BRING IT IN AGAIN AND THEY NOW STATE THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. BUT APPARANTLY THERE IS. VERY FED UP WITH THE WHOLE SITUATION. AND VERY NERVOUS DRIVING THE TRUCK. *TT
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP WRANGLER 2-DR 4X4. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID LEAKED FROM THE VENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER CLEANED THE VENT AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO LET HIM KNOW IF IT RECURS. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT IT APPEARED THAT THE FLUID WAS BURPING OUT OF THE HEAT VENT FROM THE TRANSMISSION BUT NOT FROM ANY OTHER SEAL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,000.
WHEN FILLING MY 2009 WRANGLER WITH FUEL THE PUMP DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY SHUT OFF BEFORE FUEL HAS SPILLED OUT OF THE TANK, DOWN THE SIDE OF MY CAR AND ONTO THE GROUND. I REPORTED THIS TO JEEP WHEN IF FIRST OCCURRED AND THEY WERE FAMILIAR WITH THE ISSUE, BUT WOULD NOT CORRECT IT FREE OF CHARGE. BUT LET ME KNOW THAT I COULD PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. I HAVE NOT PAID TO FIX IT AND IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN TO THIS DAY. THIS IS CLEARLY A DESIGN FLAW AND THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THAT, BUT STILL HAVE NOT ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN TO CORRECT IT. THE DANGERS OF FUEL SPILT DOWN THE SIDE OF MY CAR AND ONTO THE GROUND SHOULD BE OBVIOUS.

THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THAT IT WAS AN ISSUE FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 2,000.

2009 JEEP WRANGLER 2 DOOR RUBICON W/ 6 SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. DECELERATION PROBLEM. VEHICLE WILL ACCELERATE SPORADICALLY WHEN DESCENDING LONG STEEP GRADES FORCING DRIVER TO RIDE BRAKES TO KEEP UNDER CONTROL. THIS OCCURS WHEN VEHICLE APPROACHES APPROXIMATELY 2000 RPM. IT FEELS LIKE JUST A SLIGHT ACCELERATION, HOWEVER, IT'S ENOUGH TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO A COASTING SITUATION WITH NO ENGINE BRAKING WHATSOEVER. THIS ALSO OCCURS WHEN SLOWING FOR A STOP SIGN. ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS COMPLETELY RELEASED AND THE VEHICLE JUST GOES INTO A COAST. THIS SITUATION COULD LEAD TO BRAKE FADE ON A LONG STEEP GRADE AND ACCELERATED BRAKE WEAR.
