WHEN EXITING VEHICLE NOTICED A STRONG RAW GAS SMELL ON DRIVERS SIDE. VEHICLE WAS THEN PARKED IN GARAGE OVERNIGHT AND UPON ENTERING THE GARAGE THE NEXT MORNING, THE FUMES WERE SO STRONG THAT IMMEDIATE VENTILATION WAS NECESSARY. PROBLEM MAY COINCIDE WITH WHEN GAS TANK IS FILLED TO CAPACITY. PROBLEM REPEATED FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN DID NOT REOCCUR UNTIL GAS TANK WAS REFILLED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO ILLUMINATE THE HEADLIGHTS, BUT THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO USE THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT, THE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT LATCH TO SECURE THE CONTACT. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE FUEL CAP WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE DETAILS OF THE DIAGNOSIS COULD NOT BE PROVIDED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
ON THE 2010 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON EVERY OTHER MINUTE WITH A CHIME, AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING OR INTERFERING WITH THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS.THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY 2007 - 2010 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE 2010 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY CONCERN OF THEIR FAULTY CLOCKSPRING THAT CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS FROM PROPERLY DEPLOYING.
AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHES INTERMITTENTLY AND CHIMES APPARENTLY THIS IS CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING THAT AFFECTS A LOT OF LEFT HAND DRIVE JEEPS. AIRBAG IS DISABLED WHEN LIGHT IS ON . THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT BEGAN ILLUMINATING WHEN DRIVING IN STRAIGHT LINE, WHEN TURNING THE LIGHT TURNS OFF UNTIL DRIVING STRAIGHT AGAIN. THIS IS A LEFT HAND DRIVE VEHICLE WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS THE RECALL PLACED ON RIGHT HAND DRIVE MODELS OF THE SAME YEAR.
I WAS DRIVING MY JEEP TO WORK WHEN ALL THE SUDDEN WHITE SMOKE ENTERED THE CAP. I ROLLED THE WINDOW DOWN TO VENT THE SMOKE AND SAW FLAMES AT MY FEET. I PULLED THE JEEP OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY JUST IN TIME FOR THE BRAKES TO FAIL. AFTER PUTTING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON SO IT WOULD ROLL INTO ANOTHER CAR I JUMPED OUT OF THE CAR JUST IN TIME TO SEE THE FLAMES EAT THE HOOD OF MY JEEP AND WORK ITS WAY BACK THROUGH MY ENTIRE VEHICLE. I WATCHED AS THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PUT OUT THE FIRE OVER AND OVER AND OVER. SINCE IT HAD A FULL TANK OF GAS MY JEEP WAS DISTROYED. I PUT $70,000 OF PARTS INTO MY JEEP AND IT WAS ALL EATEN BY A FIRE IN 20 MINUTES. I GOT THE OIL CHANGED DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS NEVER TOLD ABOUT A RECALL. I NEVER RECIEVED ANY PIECE OF MAIL NOTIFYING ME OF ANY RECALL. I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THE FIRE ISSUES UNTIL I STARTED TO RESEARCH WHAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT HAVE BEEN. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SAID THAT THEY WILL INVESTIGATE IT BUT THAT THERE REALLY ISN'T ANYTHING LEFT OF THE JEEP TO FIND THE ORIGIN. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE FIRE WHEN IT WAS OCCURING AS WELL AS PICTURES OF THE BEFORE, DURING, AND AFTER THE FIRE....UPDATED 09/22/15 *BF UPDATED 12/11/2017*CN

TIPM MODULE IS UNPREDICTABLE AND SHUTS DOWN WITHOUT NOTICE. IF IT HAPPENS IN MOTION IT CAN BE FATAL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 54,500. UPDATED 09/03/15*LJ UPDATED 11/03/2017*CN
AIR BAG MALFUNCTION LIGHT CAME ON. ALL FUSES CHECKED NO ISSUES, ALL WIRING HARNESSES CHECKED, NO ISSUES, DEALERSHIP INFORMS IT MAY BE CLOCK SPRING WHICH IS NOT COVERED UNDER PREVIOUS RECALL.
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ABOUT 20MPH, FIRST ON LINE TO A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND ON ABOUT 20 T0 25 FEET BEFORE THE INTERSECTION AND LIGHT WAS RED, AND WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED IT DID NOT STOP AND THE VEHICLE KEPT MOVING AND IT WAS STOPPED BY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. A BURNING SMELL GOT INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND PEOPLE STOPPED YELLING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. WHEN THE HOOD WAS OPENED AND THE FIRE PUT OUT WE NOTICES THAT THE FIRE STARTED AT THE BRAKES PUMP SENSOR. IT BURNED ALL THE WIRING AROUND THERE TO INCLUDE PLASTIC COVER OF LEFT HAND SIDE WHEEL, THE STEERING COLUMN RUBBER JOINT, SENSORS, THE HOOD AND OTHER PARTS IN THAT SIDE.
GASOLINE SHOOTS OUT UPON FULL TANK, PUMP NOZZLE ON AUTO FILL. START TO REMOVE NOZZLE AND GAS SHOOTS OUT OF FILLER TUBE. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES OVER LAST TWO YEARS. GAS GETS ON CLOTHES AND SKIN. I FEEL CHRYSLER SHOULD CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AS THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE.

AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND WARNING SOUND GOES OFF INTERMITTENTLY. RESEARCHED THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE A LARGE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME SYMPTOMS. APPEARS TO BE A DEFECTIVE CLOCK SPRING FOR WHICH CHRYSLER ISSUED A RECALL BUT ONLY ON RIGHT HAND DRIVES. CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND THEY DON'T BELIEVE IT IS AN ISSUE. I'M CONCERNED THAT MY AIR BAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. IF THIS IS AN ISSUE IN RIGHT HAND DRIVES, NOT SURE WHY IT WOULD NOT APPLY TO ALL. THEY DO USE THE SAME CLOCK SPRING.

PROBLEM LIGHT FOR THE SUSPENSION DISCONNECT CAME ON. DEALERSHIP HAD TO REPLACE THE ACTUATOR BECAUSE IT WAS FULL OF WATER AND SHORTED OUT. COUPLE OF WEEKS AFTER PROBLEM WITH SUSPENSION, THE TIPM MODULE HAD TO BE REPLACED. AT TIME ALL PROBLEM LIGHTS ON DASH BOARD LIT UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE AND VEHICLE COULD NOT BE STARTED. HAD TO BE TOWED. *TR
FUEL TANK REGULARLY OVERFLOWS EVERY TIME I FILL UP. GAS SPILLS ALL OVER EXTERIOR OF VEHICLE AND THE GROUND. *TR
AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE CHECKED ALL FUSES AND EVERYTHING IS OK. I HAVE DONE EXTENSIVE RESEARCH AND IT IS MY OPINION THAT IT IS A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING.
THE DASHBOARD AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. IT IS UNCERTAIN WHETHER THE AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY, IF IT IS NEEDED. THE OCCURRENCE OF THE AIRBAG LIGHT SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO STEERING WHEEL TURNS, AND THE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF FREQUENTLY WHILE DRIVING AROUND TOWN, SOMETIMES 8-10 TIMES PER MINUTE. THERE WAS NO INCIDENT THAT PRECIPITATED THIS DEFECT, IT SIMPLY STARTED ONE DAY, AND HAS CONTINUED NON-STOP SINCE THAT FIRST TIME. *TR

I FIRST NOTICED A JAR AND SHAKING AFTER HITTING A BUMP A FEW MONTHS AGO AND DIDN'T THINK ANYTHING OF THIS, UNTIL TONIGHT!Y JEEP IS COMPLETELY STOCK. I WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK AND HIT A BUMP ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY WHOLE ENTIRE FRONT END COMPLETELY SHOOK WHERE I COULD BARELY CONTROL THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIPM AND THE CLOCK SPRING MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I HAVE BEEN GETTING RADOM WARNING CHIMED AND AN AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE CORNERING. NOW IT IS ALMOST ALWAYS ON AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED BEFORE NEXT INSPECTION IS DUE. ITS A CLOCKSPRING FAILURE IN THE STEERING COLUMN, A PROBLEM COMMON TO THE CURRENT WRANGLERS FROM 07-2014. THERE HAS ALREADY BEEN A RECALL FOR THE RHD MODELS FOR THE SAME THING BUT NOT LHD JEEPS. THIS IS MY SECOND FAILURE,MY 2007 HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS AS MY 2010. ITS TIME FOR JEEP TO OFFER A RECALL AND REPLACE THIS PART OF THE AIRBAG SYSTEM.

LINES FROM TRANSMISSION TO COOLER LEAK TRANSMISSION FLUID WHICH COULD CAUSE FIRE. HAVE READ AND HEARD ABOUT MANY OTHER VEHICLES HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. SAW A LETTER ADDRESSING OLDER MODELS OF THIS VEHICLE BUT THEY TELL ME THAT MINE ISN'T COVERED BY THIS. *TR
MY 2010 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT 2 DOOR OVERFILLS THE GAS TANK EVERY TIME I FILL UP. THE PUMP SHUTS OFF WHEN THE TANK IS FULL AND THEN A SURGE OF GASOLINE COMES OUT OF THE FILLER NECK AND THE SIDE OF THE JEEP, THE GROUND AND MYSELF WERE SOAKED. TODAY I TRIED TO HOLD THE HANDLE, BUT ONCE THE TANK FILLED OUT CAME THE GAS. I HAVE TRIED OTHER NOZZLES AND THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED. THIS JUST STARTED ABOUT A MONTH AGO. *JS
WHILE FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, FUEL WILL OVERFLOW OUT ONTO THE VEHICLE AND ONTO THE GROUND CREATING A FIRE HAZARD. *TR
WHEN REACHING SPEEDS OF 45MPH AND ABOVE THE STEERING WHEEL STARTS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. WHEN THIS STARTED, A MECHANIC SAW NOTHING WRONG EXCEPT FOR A WORN OUT STEERING STABILIZER, SO HE REPLACED IT. THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, BUT NOW IT ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I HIT A BUMP IN ROAD WHEN TRAVELING ABOVE 50MPH. I TOOK IT TO A SECOND MECHANIC AND HE INSTALLED AN AFTERMARKET TRACK BAR AND BALANCED THE WHEELS. THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. A SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON OCCURRENCE WITH JEEPS, YET THE MANUFACTURER HAS DONE NOTHING TO CORRECT IT. MY VEHICLE IS COMPLETELY STOCK, EXCEPT FOR THE TRACK BAR, AND CURRENTLY HAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000 MILES ON IT.
THE TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES ON MY 2010 JEEP WRANGLER BEGAN TO LEAK AT THE HOSE-TO-TUBE CRIMP JOINTS. THERE WAS NO OTHER WEAR TO THE LINES - ONLY THE FAILURE OF THE HOSE-TO-CRIMP AREA. THE COOLER LINES HAD TO BE FULLY REPLACED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. CHRYSLER ISSUED A DOCUMENT COVERING 2008-2010 JEEP WRANGLER ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION COOLER LINES WEEPING AT THE HOSE-TO-TUBE CRIMP JOINTS, BUT THIS DOESN'T SEEM TO COVER MY VIN FOR THE YEAR. FURTHER VINS SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE FIX, AS IT SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH MORE JEEPS THAN THEY HAVE PREVIOUSLY INCLUDED. *TR
HARD TOP 2010 JEEP WRANGLER WATER LEAKS INSIDE OF THE CAR EVERY TIME IT RAINS IT LEAKS FROM THE REAR WINDOW CENTER PART OF THE ROOF WHERE THE TWO PARTS MEET BY THE DOORS ON TOP WHERE THE PILLAR MEETS T TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD WHERE THE TWO REMOVEL PARTS MEET RIGHT SIDE AND LEFT SIDE DOORS WATER GET IN AND THIS HAPPENS WHETHER IS MOVING OR JUST PARK
WHEN FILLING MY GAS TANK GAS SPRAYS ALL OVER IF I COMPLETELY FILL THE TANK. GAS SPILLS OUT OF THE FUEL FILLER PIPE AND GOES EVERYWHERE. THIS IS DANGEROUS! IT IS ESPECIALLY BAD IN COLD WEATHER.
WHILE DRIVING THE JEEP THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE WARNING CHIME. THE LIGHT CONTINUED TO GO ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY AND THE CHIME SOUNDED. I TOOK THE JEEP TO THE LOCAL DEALER WHO I BOUGHT IT FROM AND THEY DETERMINED IT WAS A FAULTY CLOCK SPRING IN THE STEERING COLUMN. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE ON LINE AND LEARNED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THIS MODEL OF JEEP. RIGHT HAND DRIVE MODELS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE AND THE CLOCK SPRINGS REPLACED, BUT THERE IS NO SUCH RECALL FOR THE LEFT HAND DRIVE VEHICLES. THE ON LINE INFORMATION INDICATED THAT THIS ISSUE COULD CAUSE THE AIRBAG TO NOT DEPLOY IN AN ACCIDENT, SO I HAD IT REPLACED BY THE DEALER AT MY EXPENSE. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY CHRYSLER AND OWNERS WHO'VE HAD THEIR CLOCK SPRINGS REPLACED FOR THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR THEIR EXPENSE. *TR
MY WIFE PARKED OUR JEEP AT THE TOP OF DRIVEWAY. CAR WAS PLACED IN PARK AND SHE GOT OUT OF THE CAR. SHE WENT TO GET SOMETHING OUT OF THEN BACK SEAT AND COULD NOT OPEN THE DOORS. SHE REALIZED THE KEYS WERE IN THE IGNITION AND SHE SHUT THE CAR OFF AND PULLED OUT THE KEYS. WHEN SHE DID THIS, THE JEEP STARTED ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY DRAGGING HER ALONG. VEHICLE THREW HER AND RAN OVER BOTH LEGS AND HAD OTHER INTERNAL INJURIES AS WELL AS SEVERE CONCUSSION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOBBLED AND JERKED VIOLENTLY WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE CONTACT HAD TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF IN ORDER TO REGAIN CONTROL. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE BALANCED. THE TIRES WERE BALANCED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE ON ACTIVATION OF THE HEADLIGHT CIRCUIT VIA CONTROL STALK. LIGHTS WOULD FLICKER IN A SPECIFIC PATTERN THEN GO DARK. ACTIVATING HIGH BEAM CIRCUIT REPEATED THE CYCLE WITH HIGH BEAM ILLUMINATION. COMPLETE RESET OF ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (BATTERY DISCONNECTED FOR HOUR +) WOULD CLEAR UP THE ISSUE FOR ~2-3 HOURS OF OPERATION BEFORE PROBLEM RESUMED. REQUIRED DEALER REPLACEMENT OF TIPM AS HEADLIGHT CONTROL CIRCUIT IS A PART OF THAT MODULE. TIPM WAS ON BACKORDER WHEN PROBLEM FIRST SURFACED, LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THAT THIS MODEL OF TIPM MAY BE THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE. VEHICLE WAS UNDRIVABLE FOR COMMUTE DURING EARLY MORNING/EVENING HOURS DUE TO LACK OF FORWARD ILLUMINATION. ALL OTHER VEHICLE LIGHTING AND ACCESSORIES FUNCTIONED CORRECTLY.
FUEL PUKES OUT OF THE FILLER NOZZEL WHILE FILLING.
WHILE REFUELING THE VEHICLE THE PUMP SHUT OFF WHEN THE TANK WAS FULL. THERE WAS THEN A SURGE OF GASOLINE THAT CAME OUT OF THE FILLER NECK AND SOAKED THE SIDE OF THE JEEP AND THE GROUND. THIS HAS HAPPENED THE LAST 3 TIMES I HAVE REFUELED. ALL 3 TIMES WERE AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS. *TR
