ABS Module not working and Jeep does not have a solution
ABS control module cannot get the part so i would think this would be a safety issue because abs is not working. I know alot of other people who have a jeep have the same proplem my part has been on back order for 4 months now. So I'm concerned about not having ABS thank you
Oil Cooler leaking after multiple replacements causing engine stall while driving and lots of burning and smoke potentially leading to fire.
The ABS control module has malfunctioned which lead to the ABS, traction control, and parking brake light coming on while driving. This is a safety concern due to a malfunction with these systems. These systems are meant to help control the vehicle when either sliding or braking quickly. An OBD scan tool was used, which read the code C2200 to confirm the malfunction.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in the garage, the contact became aware of an oil leak. The contact stated that the leak was small. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the engine oil cooler needed to be replaced. Additionally, the contact had previously replaced the thermostat at an independent mechanic due to the parts being on backorder. The contact stated that the failure might be due to the cold temperatures. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 43,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed, and went to the floorboard. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle failed to stop until the contact applied the parking brake. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the ABS module and pump had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 96,000.
The ABS module is reporting a C2200 error indicating replacement of the module and it seems to be a systemic problem with this module. Chrysler has the part backordered and I understand people have been waiting over a year to get one. I hope you can put pressure on Jeep to get these parts out or issue a recall.
ABS MODULE
I recently had my oil changed about 3 weeks ago from today. Three (3) days ago, while I was driving, my engine lamp came on and my engine began to run hot. I didn't understand why given that I had just got the oil changed. I pulled to the side of the road and turned the car off to allow it to cool down. It would not crank and I had to have it towed to the auto shop to be serviced which is where they told me that the engine needed replacement.
Driver had 50,000 miles maintenance service scheduled when the engine light went on a week prior to the service date. Therefore she asked the mechanic to do a diagnostic check on engine and mechanic at the Jeep dealership reported list of problems which solutions found which include: Replace Thermostat and holding Replace Vacuum Pump Replacing U-Joint Replacing All Ball Joints Replacing Front Axle Seals Replacing Both Shocks Replacing Engine Oil cooler Driver has been working from home for 6 years and the wrangler is driven on weekends and never done off roading. Jeep was purchased new in 2016.
My vehicle would not start, leaving me in the freezing cold after a 10 hour shift at work. After having the vehicle towed to a service center & a week of inspection, I was notified that the engine had siezed up & needed replaced. The engine oil, front & rear differential, & transfer case fluids had just been changed a week prior. There was no engine warning light prior to this event.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while her husband driving 65 MPH, the ABS warning light and the brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Joe Hudson's Collision Center, where the mechanic used a Code Reader to retrieve DTC: C2200 (ABS Module Failure). The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the ABS module was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was a significant amount of smoke coming from underneath the hood and entering the cabin of the vehicle through the A/C vents. The contact stated that the failure had occurred while her one-year-old child was inside the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to McCoy's Auto Repair, where it was diagnosed and determined that the oil filter housing was fractured and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
Horn stopped working. Steering wheel controls stopped working. Airbag clockspring bad. Several lights on, on dash. Several dealerships claim even though there is a recall, my Jeep is not covered.
This vehicle along with many others jeep wranglers have an issue with the abs control module. It has a code for internal processor fault. Some days the vehicle is fine and others it acts up and it won’t shift gears or the abs system activates by itself or the speedometer doesn’t work. This has been going on for almost a year now because there is no parts aviable to fix it. The dealer keeps saying it’s in engineering review but they been saying that for almost a year now. That’s how long mine has been acting up. My wife won’t even drive it with the kids in the car because she doesn’t know when it is going to act up. Luckly I only work 5 miles from my house so I’ve been driving it. If they know there’s an issue with these modules they should be doing something faster to fix it or there should be a recall. Something needs to be done.
Just like many other people have wrote about, the ABS SENSOR is defective. The ABS light comes and the traction light does also. Jeep has been aware of the problem for 18 months to 2 years. There is no fix or replacement sensor in sight.
I had someone cut me off on the highway, I went to honk my horn & it didn't work. I then also noticed that my steering wheel control buttons did not work, or light up either. Upon investigation I found out that those are all symptoms of the clockspring not working properly & needing replaced.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that there was an unknown liquid leaking underneath the front of the engine compartment. There was no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the oil filter housing assembly had fractured and needed to be replaced. The oil filter housing had been replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that there were no recalls on the VIN for the failure. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 73,000.
My Jeep has a failed ABS module, which Mopar fully knows was a factory defect. They have stopped making the part and now we have dangerous, junk vehicles with no fix.
In December of 2024, my jeep felt like a ghost was pressing my brakes. It got worse over time despite any troubleshooting we did and replacing sensors did not work. It went inot limp mode and would not drive out of second gear. Took it to my mechanic to find there is a national issue and back order problem with all ABS modules for Mopar/Jeep. I have read many jeep forums online and this issue started in 2020. As of now since January there is no true ETA on the replacement part. My jeep sits while paying for it and unable to repair. We sought a company to try to rebuild the old one and they can't either since the replacement chips are back ordered as well. Luckily I noticed the issue while driving slow on a dirt road, however, this issue could have pulled the vehicle into oncoming traffic or off the side of the road. Jeep has not issued a recall or any help for the ones that are not inoperable. Someone needs to step up and take responsibility for this issue. There are thousands of people involved from what I have read. Please help!
December 2024 the abs module failed on my 2016 Jeep Wrangler. Dropped it off at the mechanic and it is now May 2025 with no help from the manufacturer. This is a severe safety issue with the brakes locking up and causing the jeep to not be functionable. I keep seeing recalls for other years makes and models. I need someone to help with a recall on my jeep's abs module and to get a solustion to get my jeep back functioning safely again. I can not drive it at this moment because of this issue.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the traction control, Brake, and ABS warning lights illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the Hill Assist warning light was occasionally illuminated. The contact inspected the vehicle and became aware that the speed sensor and battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired by the contact; however, the failure persisted. The local dealer was contacted; however, the contact was informed that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,700.
ABS modulator not working in jeep. Warning lights on dash currently are: ABS, traction control and brake light. Jeep dealer confirmed ABS modulator is defective. Unable to replace/repair due to backordered item as of 11/24. Stated possibly not available until 2/25. Jeep will randomly not shift gears while driving, speedometer not working, gas pedal sticking occasionally, rough braking with brake pedal shaking when braking. When shifting into Park vs Drive or reverse the jeep will jerk/lunge forward.
Brake Line Brackets are rusting on interior on bracket at higher rate than rest of bracket. This design does not allow for clearance of the brake line and is a failure point. This is causing the brake lines to compress and brakes to fail. Vehicle has 65k miles and no other issues This is rejected by Chryslers warranty division.
The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the traction control warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was not skidding at the time. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a failing clock spring. The contact was informed that the clock spring needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.
ABS and traction control lights recently started coming on upon starting the vehicle. This morning, I took to repair shop and had brakes checked. I was told nothing was wrong, that brake pads look good, brake fluid level is good. When I returned home, I checked the NTHSA website to check for recalls on these modules. Saw another complaint regarding the exact same thing I am experiencing. That person stated that the dealership indicated that no fix is available as yet due to a supposed redesign of these components. So now what? I have no choice but to drive a vehicle that has ABS and traction control safety systems that are unavailable. While on the site, I also checked for recalls and found 5 recalls for which I was never notified, including air bag non-deployment. Great. I want to get rid of this vehicle, but alas, interest rates make it impossible.
Loss of ABS, Traction Control
ABS and traction control lights came on. Took to dealership in July and told the ABS control unit was faulty. Dealership ordered part with expected delivery on 8/12/2024. Went to dealership and was told part was in redesign with no real date for availability. Now I have a vehicle without ABS, traction control, four wheel drive, or cruise control with no date for a fix. The ABS and traction control are safety systems that are unavailable.
Everything looks good... There's no issues with the car..
The airbag light came on, then went off. This happened for a while, meanwhile, the horn stopped working and the controls in the steering wheel were incapable of anything for the radio. I was informed it was a bad steering clock spring and it needed to be replaced. Part # 5156106AG We searched for a recall, and there is one for the 2016 Jeep Wrangler for a failing steering clock spring, only my car’s vin number didn’t match the recall. It appears the previous owner had an issue with the airbags, that was subsequently repaired before I owned this vehicle. I believe it was repaired incorrectly, or is still faulty, as it is broken once again. The coincidence of this being recalled for the same make and model, but not for my specific vehicle is difficult to comprehend. What automobile has more than one need to repair airbags that were never deployed? I have not gotten it repaired yet because the dealer is charging greater than $900 for just the part. I found it online for less than $200.
"Jeep Death Wobble" - I was informed by my mechanic that the Automatic Braking System module will need to be replaced. This was after numerous attempts to fix what is being referred to online as the Jeep Death Wobble online - widespread complaints online and on Jeep forums. Previous attempts to resolve this issue included alignment, new pads, brake pads, new brake rotors, 4 new tires. Despite all of this expense ($2k +) the jeep continued to wobble erratically and unsafely at around 44 MPH because the brakes are engaging or partially engaging. The temperature of the brakes and rims exceeded the range of the brake temperature sensor my mechanic used so he cautioned the car could vehicle could catch on fire if driven more than a short distance. The ABS module is on back order for months so I am out of luck to fix the vehicle. Jeep claims this is only a supply chain issue but based on what I see as widespread problems, it seems to also be a demand issue - this is happening to many other drivers and should be a safety concern for instability (hence the name Death Wobble) if not also for fires.
The jeep has an ABS module that went bad. I have been waiting months- perhaps over a year, and there is still no estimate on the part coming in. It is an essential part, one with no generic replacement. It is illegal for jeep to just leave all of us hanging.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer retrieved DTC: B1B06 (faulty air bag located in the steering wheel). The contact was informed that the air bag in the steering wheel needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the NHSTA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 71,368.
On July 19, 2024, my ABS and TRAC Control light (Anti-Lock Brake Light) came on. I took my vehicle in to the Myrtle Beach Jeep Dealership in South Carolina and after a complete checkI was informed that C2200-ANS Module Internal will require replacement and the part was currently being re-engineered and was on backorder for at least thirty days. When even tried calling other dealerships and was told that they are having the same problem. On August 27, 2024 I called and spoke with my Jeep service advisor (Jennie Jo, 843-448-1191) and was told that the ABS module is still be re-engineered and will not be available for another thirty days or longer. I saw on-line that numerous Jeep owners are having this serious problem with no relief. There has been no-recall and we cannot drive our vehicle do to the safety risk. I do not know why Jeep is not providing some relief or alternative to customer. I have never experience this type of situation. The dealerships are waiting on Jeep to provide the part and the part is not cheap, over $800 dollars to replace. Jeep needs to inform customer that this is a major safety issue and conduct a mass recall of these other Jeeps. We need help.
The warning lights indicating a problem with ABS/Traction system. Vehicle taken to Wallace Jeep on [XXX] and diagnosed as "ABS Module Internal Failure". Service Manager advised the module was unavailable for several months with MOPAR indicating the "part was on hold until engineering review was complete" and had been that way for several months with numerous extensions and no definitive available date and they were unable to order one for my vehicle with 28 already on order. Living in South Florida where it rains almost daily, driving without operable ABS and Traction Assist for several months now with no idea when parts available is very hazardous. My first issue is my windshield wiper fluid only works or comes out once every couple days. My 2nd issue is my TPM system has been blinking and does not show the pressure on very hot days. Both issues have been going on for over a year. 3rd issue is I can no longer use the AM/FM radio. 4th issue is my brakes went out due to a faulty rear passenger side brake hose in March. Over the past 2 weeks something has been wrong with using my brakes. Today I just found out both front brake hoses are defective. Due to these defective hoses, my rotors also need to be replaced. My automotive mechanic said this is very common. My car only has 54k miles on it. I feel like these issues should not be happening on a car that only has 54K miles on it. I feel like many children are in danger because of these hoses being defective. What if a parent has this happen and they are unable to stop on the interstate or anywhere really. I almost wrecked when my brakes went out in March, but luckily I was able to stop before hitting anything. The car behind me almost hit me as well. Can you please investigate these issues as soon as possible before anyone gets seriously hurt. Thank you.
Jeep Wrangler JK model with ABS issue. I had the "Brake" "ABS" and "Traction Control" light come on my dash. I took my Jeep to the dealership to diagnose the problem and have it resolved. I was told the "ABS Control Module" had a C2200 code that stated internal fault with the ABS Control Module. I had the dealership order one and I paid for it so I can make sure my family is safe driving the Jeep. I was informed by the dealership that the part was on back order and there was no timeline on replenishing off stock. The part was on "Engineering Hold" and would not be available anytime soon. The dealership gave my Jeep back to me and told me since it was the internal electrical part of the ABS control that I would be safe in driving my Jeep without this safety system. I have read multiple forms online stating others are having the same issue across the USA.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle jerked with an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stopped the vehicle, and there was an unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle was turned off and restarted; however, while driving, the failure reoccurred with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a private dealer, where it was diagnosed with ABS control module failure. The dealer informed the contact that the part to do the repair was not available. The vehicle remained with the dealer unrepaired. The contact related the failure to NHTS Campaign number: 22V426000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 77,000.
The ABS warning lights come on and go off intermittently. Occasionally when I brake I can feel the brake pedal shudder. This problem has occurred at various speeds from 5mph to freeway driving at 65mph. This problem has been happening for several years but only occasionally. I would estimate it started at about 30,000 miles only occasionally and started more frequently about 50,000 miles. We love our Jeep and are diligent about maintenance. Now it is almost constant. I have taken it to a trusted independent mechanic who could not detect the problem over the past 2 years because it didn’t happen while in the shop. We have had a brake job done and that has not corrected the problem. We took it to get hoses replaced yesterday and got a call from our mechanic stating that the ABS warning system went on for them and they were able to detect a faulty sensor and will replace it. This most recent incident happened when moving vehicle to lift for repairs of heater hoses. The date is 5/24/2024. We have experienced similar and exact problems as other owners complained except have not taken our vehicle to the dealer. Seems it’s about time something be done by Jeep.
2016 Jeep JK 3.6l v6 Symptoms brake warning light, abs warning light, traction control warning light on. Cruise control will not function with the above warning lights. Diagnosis: faulty abs module per obd2. Additional problem is the unavailability from Chrysler for the replacement part which affects many Jeep model years. This is a common complaint with Jeep owners. Chrysler contacted with no resolution. 05
ABS module inoperative, needs replaced. Brake light,ABS light and downhill assist lights all illuminated as dash warning lights. Jeep has no replacment or repair option available. This is my second report for this problem.
2016 Wrangler 4 door 4x4 Automatic transmission, 110,000 miles, 4x4 used maybe for 30 minutes total in it's lifetime since I purchased it brand new. Transmission does not want to shift out of 4th into 5th, this was noticed when my RPM's never seemed to drop going down interstate at any speed, after the transmission has already shifted through 1st, 2nd, 3rd into 4th. I've noticed also that the transmission tends to linger in 3rd gear to long as well. I've had to put into manual mode and shift manually to get it out of 4th into 5th gear. This has been ongoing for a very long time, dealership unable to identify problem. Is this an isolated problem or others experiencing this also?
The transmission shifter for the manual transmission has become loose and the entire shaft rotates making shifting gears nearly impossible. It caused me to shift into the incorrect gear yesterday and slowed the Jeep down quickly which is dangerous while driving in traffic.
For the last 1.5 years the ABS control module light, check engine light, and the traction control light is on. I have taken my jeep to multiple dealers and mechanic shops for this issue and I am repeatedly informed the ABS control module is not in production. It is the only vehicle I own and I fear for my safety. I need to replace this part but the manufacturer is not selling to the dealer or mechanic shops. Can you help me find this part?
There is a current recall for the RHD version of my Jeep for the clockspring. The bad clockspring causes many issues including air bag deployment issues. This issue does also affect the LHD. I’m currently dealing with it myself.
While driving the ABS would activate the left front wheel and pulls to left. Previous all of the wheel sensors had been replaced. Took to dealership first time and could not duplicate problem. Problem happened again and return vehicle to dealership. The ABS, traction and possible another light was on. Took back to dealership and they did flow chart and found the ABS control module was bad. The part was on national back order. Car was non drivable from March 25, 2024, till February 21, 2025, when part came in. This dealership is in a small town, and they had approx. 8-10 vehicles waiting for the same ABS problem (module). This to me is a very hazardous problem because this happen while on highway driving 55 mph with a single mom and her child, thank goodness there was not an accident. NOTE: Do have invoices to send not available at this time. Dealership York Automotive CDJRF, 1765 US 231 Crawfordsville, IN 47933
ABS module defect. Unable to obtain part for almost a year. March 16, 2024 vehicle started shaking violently. All dashboard lights started blinking. Was driving approximately 50 mph at the time. Tried slowing down, no matter the speed, shook so hard could not keep vehicle in lane.
The ABS module for this vehicle has been on national back order for over 2 years. Numerous vehicles are involved. With the malfunction, ABS does not perform as intended and creates a safety hazard. In addition other functions are rendered inoperable such as cruise control, hill start, etc. There is no remedy for the defect and manufacturer seems unable to offer a solution
In February of 2024, my ABS, traction control and brake warning lights came on. This disables the ABS, traction control and cruise control. After scanning the vehicle for codes, there is a C2200 internal fault for the ABS control module. Making sure it is not a sensor issue, I tested all four wheels and all check out fine. Looking up the C2200, I would need to replace the module. The problem is, the module has been on national backorder since December 2023 with no end in sight. My only option is to either send that module out to a company and pay $450 plus shipping to have it rebuilt or to pay upwards of $1400 for it on eBay. Even then, it may not be a genuine or new part. I have a vehicle with a safety feature that failed and another 2016 Jeep Wrangler that is starting to show similar symptoms. Stellantis / Mopar is of zero help and will not tell me when or if the part will be available.
Stopped at traffic light. Hit from behind, into vehicle in front of said vehicle. Air bags did not deploy. Police report filed; insurance representative, jeep dealership all have inspected. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to the failure. Rear ended at traffic light. Front end and back end damaged- jeep was undrivable, wrecker service removed from the accident scene. Driver was transported by ambulance and admitted to the hospital.
