ABS Module failed and no longer operable. Part isn’t it available for repair for over a year.
On multiple occasions, while operating my vehicle on the freeway, I have encountered a highly alarming problem. The engine of my car has unexpectedly shut off, resulting in a sudden loss of power and control. This has happened when driving between 45-75mph. This has placed me and other road users in extremely dangerous situations, as it has occurred at high speeds where maneuvering and reacting swiftly are essential. I have taken immediate action to have the issue investigated and resolved by authorized service centers. However, despite their efforts, the problem persists, leaving me deeply concerned about the reliability and safety of my vehicle. This recurring issue indicates a potential flaw in the design or manufacturing of the engine or related components.
Vehicle under-body gas tank skid plate is rusting from the inside out. My mechanic has advised me that he has seen many of the JK model Jeep Wranglers gas skid plates rust away from the inside out. Due to the nature of its location the inner portion rusting away is difficult to see this happening. Should this rust away and let go it could result in the gas tank falling from the vehicle at operating speeds on public roads. I was urged to report this as a safety problem.
Oil filter housing is made of plastic and over time the plastic, exposed to heat cycle and elements from being under the plenum, becomes brittle and cracks. The cracks in the oil filter housing create a susbtantial oil leak that drips engine oil onto the exhaust and is a potential for a fire. If the oil level is not properly maintained it could also create a lack of lubrication on the engine for a potential engine lock up while being driven.
The ABS Traction Control Module in this year, and surrounding year, Jeep Wranglers continues to fail. Now Jeep has stated that the part is under engineering review and not available till June timeframe. Therefore, these vehicles no longer have anti lock brakes or traction control safety features. This is a widespread issue and should be a recall on these modules.
Vehicle cel for misfire. Replace plugs and coils. Still happens. Dealership says it needs a new engine? My research shows that this is an extremely common problem with Jeep engines. I am aware of a class action suit regarding this issue. I’m not sure of the status. Vehicle has just under 129k miles and is therefore out of warranty. Jeep/FCA knew these engines had problems and continued to sell them without disclosing the highly likely problems ownere would encounter.
At 70000 miles our vehicle has an airbag warning light illuminated on the dashboard. After diagnostics it was determined that a OBD / DTC code was present : "B1B06 Driver Airbag Squib 2 Circuit Open" Per the manufacturer FCA, this code indicates an issue with the Airbag clockspring, and the driver side airbag may not deploy in case of a crash, hence placing the driver at risk of injury or death. Although FCA issued a safety recall for this issue, it only covers vehicles manufactured before May-2-2016. Our vehicle was manufactured on May-27 yet is suffering from the exact same issue, but not covered by the safety recall as per FCA representatives. "Safety Recall S40 / NHTSA 16V-288 Airbag Clockspring" Attached. This is apparently a known issue on many Jeep Wranglers, not just the ones manufactured between the posted dates, yet FCA does not offer support for vehicle owners whose airbag may not deploy in the case of a crash.
Second instance of HVAC blower motor shorting out with smoke filling cabin. Connectors and wires melted/burned up.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the ABS warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who determined that the ABS module had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced; however, the contact was informed that replacement parts were under engineering review and not yet available. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 92,239.
ABS Contol Module Failed in December 2023. Jeep did not have the part at the time, I was told it was on engineering hold. Fast forward to March 2025 and the part is still not available from any dealer and they cant tell me when it will be available. I am forced to drive the vehicle with no antilock brake feature and Jeep will not repair, provide part, or provide a loaner vehicle after over a year of waiting. If something happens, I will definitely bring a lawsuit against them. I know that this is a very common problem and there are thousands, if not tens of thousands, of Jeep owners that are in the same boat as me. If we can't rely on ya'll to take some action, what else are we left to do???
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving on wet roads, the vehicle lost traction, failed to accelerate as intended, and caused the tires to spin before accelerating. While depressing the brake pedal, the wheels locked up, and the vehicle failed to come to a gradual stop. The ABS control module displayed DTC: C2200 (Internal ABS Module Failure). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who confirmed the fault code. The vehicle was not repaired because the Part Number 68259556AD was on back order. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the part was still under engineering review, and that a remedy had not yet been found. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
*The ABS alert is on and it is disabling the antilock breaking system. The dealership has inspected the vehicle. *The safety at hand is that my antilock breaking system is not working. I was told that there is a chance if I had to break suddenly, the vehicle ABS will not work and the breaks will lock up, causing me to skid. They cautioned me to pump the breaks in the event I need to suddenly stop. *The Dealer has confirmed that this module is broken. They have inspected the vehicle and they were the ones who provided me with this information. *I was told the ABS module is inoperable at this time and the part has been on back order since I reported it in December 2023. *The alert/notification warning lights go on each time the vehicle is started and stays on the entire time the vehicle is on. The lights first appeared in early October (intermittently). We took the vehicle to Jeep and they could not duplicate the lights coming on or the problem and sent us away. *The warning lights continued to come on intermittently and we took the Jeep back to Jeep/Chrysler in December and we were then told the ABS module was broken. They placed an order for the part at that time. *I have called the dealership multiple times to see when the part would arrive and the dealership informed me that the ABS module for my vehicle is back ordered due an engineering review in progress for that part. Each month I am told the same information. I called Chrysler customer service and have been assigned a Case Manager. Today, the Case Manager gave me the same information and told me that the issue is under review and I will receive an update every 5 days.
ENGINE OIL COOLER WENT OUT AND MY MECHANIC WANTS $1100 TO REPAIR!! SAYS THEY ALL GO BAD EVENTUALLY START LEAKING OIL VERY BADLY!!!!!
While driving on the highway going approximately 60 miles per hour, I felt something in the engine go quiet and I instantly had no gas pedal power. My foot was pressing on the gas pedal all the way to the floor board and the jeep would not speed up. I instantly put on my hazard lights. The jeep was still running but had no fuel power. I was unable to move over to the right lane of the highway because the Jeep was crawling to a stop and cars were flying past me in the right lane. No warning lights or check engine lights ever came on. My daughter was in the Jeep with me. She called 911. The Jeep came to a complete stop and died. We were stuck in the vehicle and could not exit because cars were speeding past us on both sides of the vehicle. We were almost hit from behind by a semi trailer. It swerved to the right lane at the last moment. We called 911 again and they said police were on the way. A vehicle stopped in the right lane and let my daughter and I exit the Jeep on the passenger side. My daughter was crying hysterically because she was so shook up from almost being hit by the semi trailer. Police finally arrived and called a tow truck. The Jeep was towed to the dealer where it was purchased. The service department inspected the Jeep. Said the Jeep did not register any codes. It started and was driving normal. They say it could be the fuel pump. I’ve ordered a fuel pump but it is unavailable at this time. Not sure when it will come into the dealer. In the meanwhile, I’m terrified that this will happen again. I will not be driving it on the highway at all and will only drive it when necessary to run errands. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone other than the service department at the dealer where the Jeep was purchased.
Vehicle has 52940 miles on it only easy driving, never towed anything and all maintenance done at the dealership where it was purchased. Driving down the road has started whining. Transmission shot and needed rebuild or replacement. Jeep Wave and corporate not willing to help. 5 year/60,000 mile warranty that expired in July of 2022. Both dealerships and transmission shop stated that the transmission was done and needed rebuild or replacement.
The ABS Module (Part 68259556AD) on my 2016 Jeep Wrangler began failing about two years ago. When the ABS warning light turns on, both the ABS and traction-control systems stop functioning, creating a serious safety hazard: greatly increased stopping distance, reduced steering control under braking, and higher risk of loss of control on wet or slippery roads. The warnings, once intermittent, are now continuously illuminated, meaning the vehicle has no working ABS or traction control at any time. Performance Jeep of Somerville (Somerville, NJ) inspected the vehicle around September 2023 and confirmed the ABS module had failed. They also confirmed the replacement part was unavailable, with no estimate from Jeep on when it would be supplied, and suggested a possible upcoming national recall—none has been issued. The ABS module has now been on national backorder for roughly two years. Jeep’s parts division states the part is still “supported” but on “heavy backorder.” Jeep/Stellantis corporate opened a case, promised to “fast track” it, and later reported supplier “tooling/manufacturing” issues, offering no timeline for availability despite repeated follow-ups. Please note that Performance Jeep has informed me that they have several aging orders in for the ABS Module (Part 68259556AD) that they're unable to fulfill, so it would appear that on a national basis, there must be many Jeep owners such as myself who are experiencing this problem with no remedy in sight. Because the part cannot be obtained, the vehicle cannot be safely driven or repaired. This is a safety-critical defect with long-term parts unavailability. I am requesting NHTSA review and intervention, as the manufacturer has been unable to supply a federally required safety component, leaving the vehicle in an unsafe condition with no remedy.
Park Brake was set and parked against the curb. Jeep started to move on its on with no one in the driver or passenger seat. It rolled over the curb and started over the hill pulling me along side it as I was reaching for an empty bottle in the floor board causing me injury.
Started getting a loud ticking sound on driver side of engine . Took it to an auto mechanic he said it my left side head rocker arms making the noise. He also said Chrysler 3.6l Pentastar engine are known for this problem.
Had right front brakes, caliper and rotor replaced two times in the past 6 months. Same problem. At times, brakes feel like they are stuck and will not release. Standard transmission and there is no roll back on inclined driveway. Drove it 5 miles home when it started messing up. The brake light and ABS light came on. Got home and the brakes were smoking. Didn't drive it for three days and the same thing started to happen. Having to do a hard break is dangerous-the brakes will not catch and it jerks to the left. Drove it back home. Went maybe 15 miles and this time when I stepped on the brakes, it went all the way to the floor. The brake pads are missing, Caliper is stuck. Rotors are half of being brand new. All three items-pads, caliper, and rotor were replaced 1 month ago. I have the receipts. This is the second time the brake pads fell out at $350 a pop. Mileage is approximately 55,500 for a 2016 Jeep Sahara.
The ABS Pump Module on Jeep Wranglers are not working and Stellantis/Wrangler has stopped making replacement parts. If you look on [XXX] you can see that this is a nationwide issue and impacts Wrangler models spanning over several years (so far I've seen from 2014-2019). I've been trying to get the part for over a year to no avail. Also, the part is tied to the vehicle's VIN number, so you cannot use one from another Jeep (for example one from a junk yard). The safety issue is that the automatic braking system does not work properly. My Jeep also fishtails when driving in the rain. There are warning lights on the dash, which come on and off randomly. Mine do not stay on permanently. Initially, I tried to get this part replaced at a Firestone in CA, and then tried again at a mechanic in TX. Both told me the same thing, that the part is unavailable, no longer being made and that it is a national issue. A recall has not been issued either. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Replaced Totally Integrated Power Module. Car was totally disabled due to the failure of the this module. Part replacement was difficult because part was in demand due to high replacement rate.
The sway bar on the 2016 Jeep Rubicon sway bar engages and you lose ability to steer. This has happened on the expressway to us, several time. I have read about this issue, there was a class action lawsuit that did not go anywhere. This is very dangerous to the people driving and also to people around them. I
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he became aware that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with an ABS module malfunction. The contact stated the vehicle was not repaired due to parts not being available. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler that I purchased in 2017. The vehicle does not have over 45,000 miles on it...yet it would not crank.....when it finally cranked, within a few feet it completely shut down....the dealer stated that it was the TIPM. that needs to be replaced.....after reading the complaint comments on several sites...I wanted to know why this part has not been recalled to date. This repair is very costly to me, and during these hard economic times, this process has been extremely stressful. The dealer stated that it might take up to 4 weeks to get my jeep back..this is soooo unfair that I would have to incorporate an additional cost that should have been recalled already.....Recall this Jeep wrangler asap please!!!..Thank you, [XXX]. The contact owned a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, another vehicle driving at high speeds rear-ended the contact's vehicle, causing her vehicle to flip over twice; however, no air bags were deployed. The contact sustained a fractured tibia, fibula, and pelvis that required 6 surgeries with 1 surgery pending medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The vehicle was deemed totaled by the insurance company. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Internal manual transmission problem. Cannot put jeep in 3rd gear. Burning smell
The airbags did not go off when I was struck from the front. Impact was 40 to 50MPH. AAA insurance carrier says its a complete loss with over $31,000 worth or repairs. They are salvaging the Jeep. The Jeep is at my home and available for inspection until AAA insurance takes it away. I was the only one in the Jeep when it was hit. With only the seatbelt to restrain me it severely twisted my body to the left. I have head, neck, back pain with 6 herniated disks. I have dizziness, nausea and loud nonstop ringing in the ears. Airbags have not been inspected by anyone. Only the damages were inspected by the insurance carrier. No warning lights, messages or symptoms prior to the accident.
The ABS module has quit working and Stellantis and our local Jeep Dealership keeps saying the part is back ordered or under Engineering review and this has been going on for 2 years. With the ABS module not working some of the vehicles systems do not work as designed. Obviously the ABS system is deactivated. The module also controls the cruise control, anti hill assist and there is noticeable difference of how the automatic transmission shifts and at what RPM it shifts. Since the module has been declared and not available and appears there is no replacement available from Stellantis and Jeep this leave me with a vehicle that parts have failed that are important and designed for the vehicle safe operation and not recourse available to me or other others of Jeep Wranglers with similar or worse problems. Stellantis and Jeep need to come up with an alternate ABS Module or a fix to the modules on my vehicle.
75,000 MILES, ENGINE TICKING ON COLD START, ENGINE LIGHT FOR CYL 2 MISFIRE, ENGINE CHUGS AND HAS LOW ACCELERATION. DEALER REPLACED ROCKER ARM UNDER OWNER'S EXTENDED WARRANTY. DID NOT FIX PROBLEM AND NOW ARE DISASSEMBLING ENGINE. READ MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS WITH SAME PROBLEM, CLASS ACTION LAW SUIT IN PROGRESS. MANUFACTURER KNOWS ABOUT PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT TELL OWNERS.
As I drive, the car loses the ability to accelerate. It then passively stalls and the automatic steering locks up. All electrical inside the car still stays on. I put the car in park and it restarts on the first key turn. It has happened up to 3 times in a trip, but it is inconsistent when it happens (not necessarily every trip and not at specific speeds (it happeneded going 70 on the highway as well as going 25 in a neighborhood)). When I brought it to the dealership. I was told unless they could make it happen, they couldn't fix it. They also said even if they could make it happen, they couldn't be sure what it was. The onboard computer that sends error codes indicated different things that have been replaced (computer parts, sensors) and nothing has worked.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the ABS was erroneously activated, causing the vehicle to abruptly decelerate, and the brake pads and brake rotors overheated. During the failure, the ABS and Traction Control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the ABS Control Module was faulty and needed to be replaced, but the part was on backorder and not available. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 35 MPH, the front passenger’s side brakes locked up without warning. The contact stated that the brakes were smoking while driving. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle needed to be diagnosed. The contact replaced the front brake lines however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 32,000.
My ABS module has been out/faulty for more than two years. I have been unable to get a repair/replacement part due to national back orders. Chrysler has been no help at all. I believe this is a safety issue that Chrysler isnt taking serious.
My 2016 jeep wrangler, is having major issues. My seatbelts completely stopped working last week February 3, 2023. I had left the mechanics because I had the back window replaced, and the back hood of my jeep wrangler. When pulling out of their driveway, I realized my seatbelt was very tight, but I still got to hook it. When I got home from my drive one and a half hours away, I went to use my car and the seat belts would not work. Driver side and passenger side seat belts have completely seized. Has my jeep wrangler 2016 had any recalls. My son died December 10, 2019. I have never had any other problems with my jeep wrangler. I believe in jeep and the company who makes them. The body shop told me to get rid of my jeep. I cannot do that and since my son died in my jeep wrangler and drug dealers threw him in the back seat, letting him die after they stuck him with a needle full of fentanyl. Please help I do not want to part with my jeep wrangler. I am sure with the Vin number you will be able to trace anything that has gone on with my Jeep! I could have missed many recalls because my son was very sick, from 2016 until his death 2019. I purchased the car brand new in 2016 in upstate New York. Please tell me how I can get help so my seatbelt will work again and the airbag can be inspected. It must be a recall issue I can’t think of anything else and I need your help. I now live in Port Charlotte, Florida, and I am near my daughter. This jeep wrangler has been very good to us. It saved my son’s life and his girlfriends in that prior accident. Something is very wrong with the seatbelts and possibly the mechanisms attached to the seat, bag, and seatbelts. I’m not sure. But the jeep is a fantastic vehicle and I love it. Please help or call me 518-421-7073. Thank you very much. Lori.
Oil cooler housing cracked and leaking oil over entire engine which could cause a fire. Dealership has confirmed the part is damaged. No warning lamps or messages were triggered. Others have experienced the same problem with multiple replacements. Vehicle has been at the dealership now since 2/1/2023 waiting for Chrysler / Mopar Warranty to give the authorization to repair.
My 2016 Jeep Wrangler that has 48K miles was running and in park. After about 20 minutes of being in the park position my ABS and Traction Control Light came on. I took my Jeep to my local Autozone to have the code read and it came back with C1032 and C102B. I had the sensor replaced and ensured that the connections were clean of any debris. Once sensor was changed it took about 20 minutes to clear the ABS and Traction Control light from the dash. I drove my Jeep later that night and all seemed fine until I attempted to stop at a speed of 5-10mph. At that time the ABS kicked in on my vehicle but no warning lights illuminated. I once again checked the newly changed sensor along with the wiring to ensure there was no breaks in the connections and I found none. Not sure why my ABS engages at at such a low speed after a new sensor was installed.
Windshield broke and it happened previously with a older jeep pebble on the highway likely kicked up and hit the windshield I believe because the windshield is flat there is an increased risk of breakage.
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer but there was no failure found however, the dealer performed an oil change. The vehicle continued to experience the failure with the abnormal sound being more pronounced. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the cylinders needed to be adjusted. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 93,000.
ABS control module has been out for almost 2 years. Jeep will not make/replace this part, although promised it would become available for this entire 2 year timeframe.
Oil Housing Unit crack. Just bought vehicle used. Weather dropped to 28 degrees and oil housing unit cracked. All oil poured out of vehicle and would not hold any oil when more was added. Took vehicle to Jeep dealer and they confirmed that the PLASTIC piece that was the original part cracked and that this is a very common problem for 2014-2017 Jeeps due to the part being plastic. Part is not covered under any warranty and will cost $1200 to repair. I'm told that the replacement parts have been updated and are no longer made of plastic due to the high instance of problems. All research shows that this was to be a recall but that it has not been made official. This is a huge safety concern as the oil completely drained from the vehicle upon crack. Had I not been in my own driveway and driving down the highway, this would have caused major issues, engine failure and very possibly an accident. We were planned to be on a 6hr road trip moments before this occurred in the driveway. This part needs to be recalled and replaced by the manufacturer since it is a common and known problem with many Jeeps manufactured during that time frame.
This Jeep is a right hand drive wrangler. Airbag light, traction control light came on, and my horn quit working. Cruise control quit working, and then my antilock brake system was malfunctioning. I couldn't figure out why. So I went to both the Jeep dealership, and the local autozone where they scanned my Jeep for codes, and it's saying a bad clockspring. They said there is a known recall for 2016 models, but mine isn't included. They said to figure out why this Jeep is not included. . Why is my Jeep not included in the already known recall for the bad clock springs?
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, she heard a tapping sound under the hood of the vehicle. No warning light was illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and indicated that the rocker arm and the camshaft needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was advised to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was 70,218.
The camshaft and lifters failed with no check engine light. Upon inspection the left bank cams and lifters were in need of replacement and a pinhole was found in the radiator.
My wife was involved in an injury accident 12/02/2023 due to failure of the ABS Module not activating and the Air bag system not deploying. She was cut off by a hit and run driver. She slammed on the brakes went into an uncontrollable skid lost control on the Highway went off the road tumbled end over end 4 times no air bag deployment. No ABS or Air bag warning lights were on both systems failed.
P0302 code popped up all four rocker arms on left cylinder need to be replaced. Jeep had normal oil change 50k miles
The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the ABS, traction control, and service brake warning lights were illuminated. The ABS and cruise control were inoperable. The traction control was inoperable while driving in the mountains and in snow. The local dealer was contacted, who informed the contact that the parts were on backorder to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called another local dealer, AJ Dohmann Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (24945 LA-1 S, Plaquemine, LA 70764), who confirmed that the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
I had an error message for the thermostat last week had that replaced. Now there is a puddle of oil coming from the oil coolant assembly. Replaced the thermostat awaiting mechanic for the oil coolant issue now.
Parked vehicle outside corner of home at 9:00 pm. Awoken by loud popping and hissing sounds at 4:45AM. Looked outside to notice a bright orange hue by vehicle. Realizing the car was on fire, we called 911 and proceeded to use garden hose to water down both the vehicle and the home that the car was next to, in order to try to prevent the house from also catching fire. Vehicle was not moved nor accessed during those 7 overnight hours. It was locked and we were all asleep. There were two other vehicles parked next to and behind the vehicle that caught fire - those two other vehicles sustained no damage to them. The house sustained some minimal siding warping from the heat of the fire. Fire chiefs reviewing the damage in person as well as viewing photos have stated that it appears to be battery or fuse box related as that side of the engine's damage was greatest as well as the battery and fuse box being completely destroyed by the fire. No warning lights or indications of system failures or malfunctions prior to parking the car. Vehicle was towed away from scene by insurance company. Unsure if vehicle is still at that lot or not. Insurance deemed vehicle totaled and issued check for losses.
The headlamp assembly lenses have become warped and frosted due to excessive heat from the bulb and defective heat dissipation from the headlamp assembly . Poor visibility at night, as light output is significantly diminished creating a safety hazard..
2016 Jeep Wrangler intermittently misfires then immediately loses power and dies. Also loses power steering at the same time. It almost caused an accident and is a big safety concern. Now I drive in the right lane in case I have to hurry and pull off the side of road. I turn the key off, but then start it right back up and it drives fine. But then will happen again random. No dash board warning lights ever come on. Been to the dealer twice- 1st time they updated pcm software, this time they changed spark plugs and coil pack. Help. *also, first started happening at 104,500 miles .. took to dealer for the issue, it is still happening and currently at 107,500; happens randomly whether at 25mph or 50 mph
