STEERING DAMPER RECALL WAS COMPLETED I'M STILL EXPERIENCING THE "DEATH WOBBLE".VEHICLE HAD BEEN TO DEALERSHIP 6 TIMES AND GET TOLD EVERY TIME THAT EVERYTHING LOOKS GOOD. PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN I HIT A BUMP OR A ROUGH SPOT ON THE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE AND STEERING WHEEL BEGIN TO SHAKE LIKE THE VEHICLE IS JUMPING ON THE ROAD. TYPICALLY OCCURS WHEN TRAVELING OVER 50 MPH AND ONLY CORRECTS AFTER YOU SLOW DOWN. ISSUE CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND AND I FEEL THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND CAN POSE A LIFE THREATENING.
RANDOM TIMES VEHICLE WON'T START,EVERYTHING TURNS ON BUT ENGINE WON'T TURN OVER. WILL EVENTUALLY START AFTER SOMETIME. HAPPENS AFTER DRIVING VEHICLE AND PARKING IT. HAVE READ ONLINE THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO OTHERS. SO FAR HAS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN ABOUT A MONTH.
STEERING WHEEL PROBLEMS. CAR HAD LESS THAN 200 MILES IS HARD TO STAY IN STRAIGHT LINE. TOO MUCH AND EXCESSIVE STEERING. DANGEROUS TO DRIVE.
STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP WHILE DRIVING CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO NOT TURN LEFT. ALSO LOTS OF PLAY IN THE STEERING CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SWAY.
WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, THE STEERING WOBBLES ON BUMPS.
ISSUE WITH THE UCONNECT OPERATING SYSTEM. SYSTEM CONTINUALLY FREEZES AND FAILS TO RESPOND WHILE DRIVING. BACKUP CAMERA FREEZES AND AT TIMES DOES NOT TURN ON WHEN BACKING. APPLE CAR PLAY AND ANDROID AUTO MALFUNCTIONS. THE CALLS STAY CONNECTED BUT DROP FROM THE IN-CAR AUDIO BACK TO THE PHONE FORCING YOU TO UNPLUG AND THEN PLUG BACK IN THE PHONE WHILE DRIVING. SYSTEM OPERATES MOST OF THE CARS ELECTRICAL FUNCTIONS. BEEN IN FOR SERVICE 3 TIMES AND HAVE SHOWN PROOF OF MALFUNCTION AND CHRYSLER AND DEALER REFUSE TO REPLACE UNIT. CHRYSLER SAYS THE PHONES AND CARRIERS ARE THE ISSUE. SYSTEM FAILS WITH BOTH IPHONE 7 ON VERIZON AND SAMSUNG NOTE 8 ON T-MOBILE. IT IS ILLEGAL TO OPERATE A MOTOR VEHICLE IN GEORGIA AND USE YOUR CELL PHONE AT THE SAME TIME AND THE SYSTEM FAILURE PUTS YOU AT RISK WHEN YOU ARE REQUIRED TO UNCONNECT AND RECONNECT PHONE WHILE DRIVING.
VEHICLE WON'T START. ISSUE STARTED ON 5/6/2019 WHEN I GET TO MY WORK PARK THE CAR AND AT THE TIME TO GO HOME CAR DIDN'T START. VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WITH TRANSMISSION IN P, DOORS CLOSED, PUSHED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE START BUTTON AND NOT START. ALL DASHBOARD LIGHTS ARE ON I'M ABLE TO TURN THE LIGHTS ON, FOG LIGHTS AND STEREO. I HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY OF THE KEY TO ELIMINATE THAT VARIABLE IT DIDN'T WORK. TRIED TO START IT WITH THE NOSE OF THE KEY AT THE START BUTTON, NOT WORK. I LEFT THE VEHICLE AND DRIVE AWAY FROM IT LIKE 1-MILE DISTANCE CAME BACK AND THE VEHICLE STARTED. THIS ISSUE KEEPS HAPPENING EVERY SINGLE DAY, IN THE MORNING, AFTER WORK, ANY TIME. AND TODAY 5/9/19 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON. VEHICLE WON'T START RANDOMLY. NEED A SOLUTION ASAP.
WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING IS LOOSE, THE VEHICLE WANDERS AND IS DIFFICULT TO MAINTAIN MY LANE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE.THEY HAVE COMPLETED THE TSB CONCERNING THE ISSUE AND IT HAS NOT REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. THIS NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED AND REPAIRED BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED BECAUSE OF IT. MY VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY PARKED BECAUSE MY WIFE IS AFRAID TO DRIVE IT.
WHILE DRIVING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS (60MPH AND ABOVE) EACH OVERPASS, SEAM OR POTHOLE IN THE ROAD CAUSES MY 2018 WRANGLER TO SHAKE AND VIBRATE UNCONTROLLABLY. AT TIMES THIS "DEATH WOBBLE" IS SO VIOLENT THAT THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE IT STOP IS TO PULL OVER AND COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. IMAGINE TRYING TO KEEP CONTROL OF YOUR JEEP WHILE IT'S SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY AND YOU HAVE TO CROSS 3 LANES OF TRAFFIC TO PULL OVER. THIS WAS MY EXPERIENCE ON 5.4.19. THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST TIME. THIS IS ALSO AFTER THE DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER HAVE "REPAIRED" THE ISSUE ON 3 PREVIOUS OCCASIONS.
AFTER INSTALLATION OF THE JEEP MANUFACTURED AND WARRANTIED 2 INCH MOPAR LIFT KIT AT THE JEEP DEALERSHIP, THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL AND FRONT END WILL VIOLENTLY SHAKE AFTER HITTING A BUMP AT SPEEDS OF 50 MILES PER HOUR AND ABOVE. THIS WAS MOST COMMONLY SEEN WHEN DRIVING OVER BRIDGES AT SPEEDS OF AROUND 50 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHEN THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE RESULTS. I THEN HAD TO RISK MY OWN SAFETY TO DEMONSTRATE TO A TECHNICIAN THAT THE PROBLEM WAS INDEED HAPPENING. THIS OSCILLATION OF THE STEERING AND SUSPENSION COMPONENTS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND REQUIRES ME TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BEFORE THE VEHICLE WILL STOP SHAKING. I ALSO HAVE LITTLE TO NO CONTROL OVER THE VEHICLE WHEN THIS HAPPENS UNTIL THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SLOWED DOWN SUBSTANTIALLY. THE PROBLEM IS ONGOING AND HAS YET TO BE SOLVED.
STEERING IS LOOSE AND VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE STRAIGHT. VEHICLE WANDERS AROUND THE ROAD AND CAUSES VEHICLE TO SWAY INTO OTHER LANES.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 65 MILES PER HOUR I RAN OVER A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT ON A BRIDGE APPROXIMATELY TEN OR MORE TIMES DURING MY TRIP. ON THREE OCCASIONS WHEN I RAN OVER THE EXPANSION JOINT THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY UP THROUGH THE STEERING WHEEL CAUSING ME TO LEAVE MY LANE OF TRAVEL. I FEEL IF A CAR WAS NEXT TO ME AT THE TIME I COULD HAVE CRASHED. APPLYING BRAKES AND SLOWING ENDED THE PROBLEM EACH TIME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. UPON RESEARCHING THE NHTSA.GOV WEBSITE, THE CONTACT NOTICED NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: DP18004. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRAME WELD HAD POROSITY SPOTS AND DISCOLORATION AND WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURES LISTED IN THE ACTION NUMBER. THE CONTACT CALLED PREMIER CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM OF BUENA PARK (LOCATED AT 7301 ARTESIA BLVD, BUENA PARK, CA 90621) AND NOTIFIED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
I HAD A PREVIOUS REPORT OF THE DEATH WOBBLE. THIS REPORT IS FOR SEVERELY LOOSE STEERING. TOO MUCH PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE JEEP WANDERS ALL OVER THE ROAD AND IT'S A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. THE STEERING STABILIZER/DAMPENER HAS BEEN REPLACED FOUR TIMES NOW AND A NEW TRACK BAR WAS INSTALLED AND ALSO THE PCM HAS BEEN FLASHED. NOTHING IS WORKING AND THIS PROBLEM COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. THE DEALER SAYS 'WELL IT'S A SHORT WHEEL BASE TWO DOOR JEEP SO....'. I'M NOT BUYING THAT. I'VE HAD TWO DOOR JEEPS IN THE PAST AND IT WAS NEVER AN ISSUE. RESEARCHING THIS THERE ARE MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM!
HOOD LATCH FLUTTERING WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS
VEHICLE WANDERS AT HIGHWAY SPEED. EXCESSIVE PLAY IN STEERING REQUIRING CONSTANT DRIVER CORRECTION. DAMPER RECALL HAS BEEN PERFORMED AND STEERING BOX AND TRACK BAR REPLACED SOME IMPROVEMENT BUT STABILITY AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS STILL CONCERN DUE TO PLAY IN WHEEL AND DRIVER INPUT REQUIRED TO TRACK STRAIGHT
STEERING IS LOOSE AND VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT TO DRIVE STRAIGHT. VEHICLE WANDERS AROUND THE ROAD AND CAUSES VEHICLE TO SWAY INTO OTHER LANES.
GEAR IS STUCK IN PARK. NOT ABLE TO MOVE GEAR FROM PARK TO ANY OTHER GEAR. HAVING TO WAIT FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME FOR TRANSMISSION TO COOL DOWN IN ORDER TO SWITCH GEARS.
DEATH WOBBLE, AROUND 70MPH A BUMP CAN CAUSE VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE STEERING WHEEL. ONLY STOPS WHEN YOU SLOW DOWN TO 40MPH OR LESS, MAKING IT VERY DANGEROUS WHEN YOU ARE ON THE HIGHWAY.
STEERING FEELS EXTREMELY LOOSE. ESPECIALLY, WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY IT DOES NOT FEEL SAFE AT ALL DUE TO CONSTANT CORRECTION I AM FORCE TO DO. I AM SCARED EVEN A SMALL POTHOLE WOULD MAKE THE VEHICLE LOSE STEERING AND END UP IN A DITCH. EVEN AFTER GETTING THE LATEST "RECALLS", CHECKED WELDING ISSUE AND REPLACE THE STEERING DAMPER NEITHER OF THOSE SOLUTION FIXED THE LOOSE FEEL OF THE STEERING WHEEL. *DT *AS
UPON TAKING DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE ON THE RIDE HOME I COULDN'T KEEP THE CAR STRAIGHT. IT KEPT WANDERING THROUGH THE LANE AND HAD TO DRIVE IT WITH 2 HANDS. I NOTIFIED DEALER AND THEY SAID IT'S A JEEP THING BUT THIS IS FAR FROM A JEEP THING. CAR FEELS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AS IT KEEPS MOVING LEFT TO RIGHT.
VEHICLE HAS ODD STEERING CHARACTERISTICS AND, AT TIMES, CAN BE DIFFICULT TO KEEP IN LANE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN THIS WAY SINCE PURCHASE. LOCAL DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THIS IS NORMAL. JEEP, HOWEVER, HAS ISSUED MULTIPLE RECALLS FOR WRANGLER STEERING PROBLEMS.
EXCESSIVELY LOOSE STEERING/EXCESSIVE PLAY IN STEERING/DEAD SPOT IN STEERING. 1.5 TO 2 INCHES FROM CENTER IN EITHER DIRECTION IN WHICH STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT ENGAGE TIRES. STEERING JERKS AND HYPER CORRECTS WHEN IT DOES ENGAGE. BECOMES WORSE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. DANGEROUS AT HIGHWAY SPEED. EXCESSIVE WANDERING, DOES NOT TRACK STRAIGHT, AT SLOW SPEED STEERING PULLS IN EITHER DIRECTION AS THOUGH IT NEEDS ALIGNMENT. BAD WELDS, VARIOUS LOCATIONS. PURCHASED VEHICLE IN APRIL 2019. ISSUE HAS BEEN PRESENT SINCE PURCHASE. HAVE HAD IT AT DEALERSHIP 5 TIMES. WE HAVE A 2019 JL RUBICON THAT DOES NOT DO IT. I HAVE ALSO DRIVEN OTHER 2 DOOR 2018'S THAT DO NOT HAVE THE ISSUE AND OTHER 2018'S THAT DO HAVE THE ISSUE. CHRYSLER CURRENTLY INVOLVED. I HAVE VIDEO AND DEALERSHIP/CHRYSLER RECORDS.
WATER INTRUSION IN PASSENGER COMPARTMENT - DRIVER AND PASSENGER FLOOR AREA.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL HAD BEEN LOOSE AND UNRESPONSIVE. THE DEALER CHARLIE'S DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (725 ILLINOIS AVE MAUMEE, OH 43537, (419) 893-0241) INDICATED THAT THE SAFETY PROBLEM WAS A KNOWN ISSUE FROM THE MANUFACTURER BUT THAT A PERMANENT REMEDY HAD NOT BEEN DETERMINED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE SECOND REPAIR WAS TO REPLACE THE STEERING GEAR BOX, THEY UPDATED THE TRAC BAR AND REALIGNED THE VEHICLE BUT THE UNSTABLE STEERING CONDITION CONTINUED. A DISTRICT MGR. AND THE SERVICE CENTER MGR. TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, PROVIDED NO TECHNICAL GUIDANCE AS THE DISCRETION WAS FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE A REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED YET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, HAD ISSUED A RECALL CAMPAIGN FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V343000 (STEERING) HOWEVER THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF THE FAILURE WAS RELATED TO THE RECALL BECAUSE IT WAS EXCLUDED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 245.
JEEP JLU BEGAN "DEATH WOBBLE" AT 70MPH WHILE ON I-485 (SPEED LIMIT IS 70). HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 40MPH TO GET IT TO STOP, WHICH ALMOST CAUSED A CRASH WITH VEHICLES BEHIND/BESIDE ME SLOWING TO MATCH. SINCE THEN, "DEATH WOBBLE" HAS OCCURRED 2-3 TIMES PER WEEK ON VARIOUS ROADS. SPEEDS 50-70. I NOW HAVE 3 ROADS WHERE I CAN REPLICATE IT AND WILL BE GOING BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP. WAS TOLD MONTHS AGO BY DEALERSHIP "IT'S NOT DEATH WOBBLE; SOMETIMES STUFF GETS STUCK IN THE WHEELS AND MAKES A CLUNKING SOUND." SORRY, NOT SORRY. ENTIRE JEEP FRONT END FELT LIKE IT WAS ON HYDRAULICS.
Faulty CANBUS connector/CANBUS failure. This issue tends to be a random and inconvenient occurrence which can be difficult to initially diagnose. Causes the jeep to stall, power steering to fail, causes all dash lights to light up and keeps the jeep from start up. Acts as if the part needs to cool down before the jeep will restart. The failure of this part has caused the jeep to stall on the highway at high speeds. Two manufacturer dealers inspected the battery, auxiliary battery, alternator and starter; found no issue with those parts. One dealer said our issue was due to the ABS module; replaced it and it did not fix the issue. Replaced the CANBUS connector and the issue has resolved. This is a known issue among jeeps both new and old and can pose a serious safety risk. To answer the question of how fast the vehicle was going when this issue occurred; the failure of this part happens at both highway speeds and residential speeds. There are currently 52,XXX miles on our jeep and the failure started, roughly, April of 2019. Jeep was purchased, brand new, April of 2018. It started with the jeep failing to start then grew to the jeep entirely stalling out while driving.
STEERING HAS LOCKED UP NUMEROUS TIMES WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN LEFT. HAPPENS IN COOL/COLD TEMPERATURES.
THE VEHICLE STEERING IS SOMETIMES UNCONTROLLABLE. THE VEHICLE MERGES RIGHTS AND EVEN PULLS RIGHT WHEN YOU TRY TO STEER TO THE LEFT. THIS HAPPENS AT SPEEDS OVER 40 MPH
THE JEEP WANDERS ALL OF THE ROAD AND IS IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP IT GOING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. HIGHWAY SPEEDS ARE WHEN ITS THE WORST. YOU WEAR YOURSELF OUT TRYING TO CONSTANTLY CORRECT THE STEERING. VERY UNEASY FEELING. TOWING A SMALL TRAILER IS AN EVEN MORE DIFFICULT FEAT, AND FEELS LIKE A CRASH IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER.
SEVERAL TIMES WHEN DRIVING AT APPROX. 65-70 MILES PER HOUR ON THE FREEWAY, I EXPERIENCED THE "DEATH WOBBLE" A VIOLENT SHAKING OF THE FRONT END OF THE JEEP INCLUDING THE WHEELS, FRONT END, STEERING WHEEL AND DASHBOARD ETC. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP IT IS TO SLOW TO ABOUT 50 MPH OR LESS. THIS OCCURS WHEN GOING ACROSS A SEPARATION ON A FREEWAY OR OVER A BUMP IN THE ROADWAY. THIS FIRST OCCURRED WITH ABOUT 3025 MILES ON THE NEW JEEP. IT ALWAYS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY AS THERE MUST BE SPEED OVER 65-70 FOR IT TO OCCUR. IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS AND FRIGHTENING TO HAVE TO DECELERATE IN THE FAST LANE OF TRAFFIC ON THE WORST AND MOST DANGEROUS FREEWAY IN AMERICA, THE 91 THROUGH CORONA AND RIVERSIDE, CA. VERY VERY DANGEROUS AND I AM FORTUNATE I DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE A SHORT VIDEO SHOWING ONE EPISODE WHEN I WAS ALREADY CONSIDERABLY SLOWED.
FRONT WHEELS SHAKE VIOLENTLY WHEN HITTING SMALL BUMP IN HIGHWAYS AT CRUISING SPEEDS,STOCK ROAD TIRES AND WHEELS, DEALER CHANGED STEERING STABILIZER , HELPED BUT STILL DOES IT,
PURCHASED NEW 2018 JEEP WRANGLER ON MONDAY APRIL 1,2019. NOTICED VEHICLE WAS LEAKING IN DRIVEWAY LESS THEN 24 HOURS AFTER PURCHASE. CALLED DEALER AND RETURNED VEHICLE FOR EVALUATION OF LEAK. ISSUE-FACTORY DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. HAD NOT BEEN THOROUGHLY INSPECTED PRIOR TO DELIVERY AND WAS DELIVERED TO US WITH FACTORY DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION DUE TO CRACKED CASING.
EVERY SINGLE DAY I DRIVE MY JEEP I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO CORRECT MY STEERING BECAUSE IT'S CONSTANTLY WANDERING IN THE LANE, I'M AFRAID AN OFFICER IS GOING TO PULL ME OVER BECAUSE THEY MAY BELIEVE I'M DRIVING DRUNK. MY STEERING WHEEL HAS ABOUT 3' OF PLAY IN IT BEFORE THE WHEELS ARE RESPONSIVE, IT'S JUST DOWNRIGHT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. *TR
THIS IS REGARDING WHAT'S KNOWN IN THE JEEP COMMUNITY AS THE 'DEATH WOBBLE.' I BOUGHT MY CAR BRAND NEW IN SEPTEMBER OF 2018, AND I'VE EXPERIENCED THE DEATH WOBBLE. I'LL BE ON THE FREEWAY, DRIVING 65+ MPH, ALL OF THE SUDDEN HIT A BUMP OR RUMBLE IN THE ROAD AND THEN LOSE CONTROL OF MY STEERING. THE JEEP STARTS VIBRATING (WOBBLING) UNCONTROLLABLY. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS IS BY SLOWING DOWN ENOUGH TO COME TO A STOP, WHICH CAN PROVE DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS ON THE FREEWAY. THIS IS SOMETHING I FEEL SHOULD BE FIXED. MY CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, HAS ALL NEW PARTS SINCE I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW AND SHOULDN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM.
AT 3800 MILES MY VEHICLE EXPERIENCED VIOLENT STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPER. WITHIN WEEKS IT STARTED TO OCCUR AGAIN. I OPENED A CASE WITH CHRYSLER AND THE DEALERSHIP AND IT APPEARS THE FIX IS REPLACING IT WITH ANOTHER AFTERMARKET STEERING DAMPER THAT ISN'T AVAILABLE TILL JULY. THE FREQUENCY AND SEVERITY OF THE WOBBLE IS INCREASING. THIS MORNING ON A 20 MINUTE COMMUTE IT OCCURRED TWICE. ONCE AT 70MPH AND THEN ONCE AT 58MPH EXITING THE HIGHWAY. TURNING THE WHEEL TO GET OF THE EXIT WAS DIFFICULT AND THE VIBRATION CONTINUED UNTIL I GOT THE CAR DOWN TO 30MPH. I CALL CHRYSLER AGAIN TELLING THEM I'M ACTUALLY SCARED NOW TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY AND AT THIS RATE AM RISK FOR AN ACCIDENT AND CAN'T WAIT TILL JULY FOR REPAIR.
AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IF I HIT A BUMP I GET WHAT THOSE IN THE JEEP COMMUNITY CALL A DEATH WOBBLE. I HAVE TO REDUCE MY SPEED TO A DANGEROUSLY SLOW SPEED, ESPECIALLY DURING BUSY MORNING AND AFTERNOON COMMUTES. I HAVE HAD THE STABILIZER REPLACED TWICE, THE 3RD TIME I WENT IN THE SERVICE GROUP SAID THEY COULDN'T REPLICATED SO THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING ANY CAR THAT HAS SOMETHING CALLED A DEATH WOBBLE SHOULD NOT BE ON THE ROAD. ITS ABSOLUTELY REDICULOUS THAT THIS IS A THING. I AM IN A 9 MONTH OLD CAR, 12K MILES, THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TODAY WAS THE LAST STRAW - CAR DRIVING NEXT TO ME ON HIGHWAY, AS I WAS DEALING WITH THE PROBLEM OPENED HIS WINDOW AND YELLED THAT MY TIRE WAS SHAKING. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED
THE CAR RANDOMLY DOES NOT START. AFTER DRIVING AROUND TOWN FOR ERRANDS OVER THE COURSE OF 3-7 DAYS, IT SUDDENLY WON'T START. IT WILL EVENTUALLY START AFTER WAITING FOR ABOUT 25-40 MINUTES. THIS BEGAN A FEW DAYS AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR IN APRIL 2019 AND HAS CONTINUED SINCE. IT IS AT THE DEALER NOW, (AFTER FINALLY NEGOTIATING A PAID RENTAL FROM THEM) BUT THEY ARE NOT DRIVING IT ENOUGH TO RECREATE THE TRIGGER IN ORDER TO INVESTIGATE AND FIX IT. I'VE HAD MY VEHICLE IN 3 TIMES FOR WHAT THEY CALL THE DEATH WOBBLE. THE VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY STILL SITTING AT THE DEALERSHIP AS I AM WAITING A CALL FROM THE SEVICE MANAGER. THE SECOND TIME I BROUGHT IT IN THEY AGAIN FIXED SOMETHING ON THE FRONT END AND IT WAS A LITTLE BETTER BUT STILL NOW RIGHT. NOW I'M BEING TOLD THAT THE TIRES NEED TO BE REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 35,000 MILES ON THE TIRES. DUE TO THE FRONT END PROBLEMS MY TIRES GO BAD AND I'M SUPPOSED TO PAY FOR IT. I'M TOLD ITS A WEARABLE ITEM. THEY WOULD BE FINE IF THEY WEREN'T CUPPING DUE TO THE FRONT END PROBLEM. I HAVE ALSO FILED A COMPLAINT WITH CHRYSLER JEEP AND HAVE HEARD NOTHING BACK FROM THEM EITHER. TO TOP IT ALL OFF, I WAS STOPPED BY THE STATE HIGHWAY PATROL. THEY SAW IT HAPPEN ON THE EXPRESSWAY, WERE CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND STOPPED ME. THANK GOODNESS I DIDN'T GET A TICKET OR ANYTHING. I'M COMPLETELY FRUSTRATED. THE DEALERSHIP WON'T HELP FIX IT. CHRYSLER JEEP HAS NOT CALLED ME BACK. I'VE PAYED A LOT OF MONEY FOR THIS JEEP AND CAN'T GET IT FIXED.
I HAVE A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT UNLIMITED WITH 7,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING A VIOLENT SHAKING WHEN HITTING A SLIGHT BUMP IN A ROAD TRAVELING ANYWHERE FROM 45-70 MPH. THE VIOLENT SHAKING HAS BEEN SO BAD THAT I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER SEVERAL TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES FOR THE ISSUE. REPAIRS WERE MADE AND EVENTUALLY THE STEERING DAMPNER WAS REPLACED. MY DEALER IS NOW IN THE PROCESS OF ORDERING AN AFTERMARKET PART TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL BUT THAT PIECE IS ON BACKORDER FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. THE VIOLENT SHAKING CONTINUES AND I FEEL THAT IT IS GETTING WORSE AND IS A SAFETY CONCERN IN MY OPINION AS THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE TRAVELING THE SPEED LIMIT AT 60+ MPH. I HONESTLY DO NOT FEEL SAFE TRAVELING WITH MY YOUNG CHILDREN AND DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH THE PROCESS MY DEALERSHIP IS TAKING OR THAT THE "FIX" THEY HAVE PLANNED WILL WORK.
WHEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP THE JEEP IN THE LANE. ALSO WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP THE FRONT END WOBBLES? WE HAD A TERRIBLE TIME TWO DAY'S AGO AS IT WAS WINDY. THE JEEP WOULD BE PUSHED LEFT AND THAN RIGHT AS THE WIND BLEW. IT WAS SCARY. YOU ARE CONSTANTLY CORRECTING AND MUST KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD 100 % OF THE TIME I WAS TRYING TO MAINTAIN 70 MPH
WHEN HITTING A BUMP - I.E. BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT - AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE VEHICLE'S FRONT WHEELS WENT INTO A SEVERE WOBBLE WHEN REQUIRED AN IMMEDIATE DECELERATION TO ALLEVIATE. NUMEROUS INSTANCES. QUITE SCARY IN HEAVY TRAFFIC, EVEN FOR AN EXPERIENCED DRIVER AND A FORMER GENERAL MANAGER OF A FIVE-STAR CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP!! EXTENSIVE RESEARCH FOUND A NUMBER OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM, YET NO RECALL OR "FIX" FROM FCA HAS EVIDENTLY BEEN FOUND. IN PREVIOUS RESPONSES FROM CORPORATE THEY INDICATE THAT IT IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE AND I MUST VEHEMENTLY DISAGREE. THE COMMON TERM USED IS "DEATH WOBBLE"!! DO WE NEED TO WAIT UNTIL AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER OR INNOCENT FELLOW TRAVELER BECOMES A VICTIM?. MY JEEP IS IN THE SHOP NOW AWAITING SOME SORT OF DISPOSITION.

AFTER THE LATEST "FIX" NOW IT STILL VIBRATES SHAKES SWAYS AND NOW BOUNCES THE VEHICLE INTO ANOTHER LANE MY FAMILY & I NEARLY HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE HWY ON SATURDAY 3/23/19. WE HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE INTO DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES SINCE JANUARY 2019 FOR THEM TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND FCA/DEALERSHIP HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO REMEDY THIS ISSUE. AFTER THIS LAST INCIDENT ON 3/23/19 I DON'T WANT MY FAMILY OR MYSELF IN THIS JEEP. I WAS VERY SCARY ON 3/23/19 BEING BOUNCED INTO ANOTHER LANE WITH OTHER CARS RIGHT BEHIND AND ALONG SIDE OF ME. BOUGHT JEEP WRANGLER JL NEW JUNE 2018. BEGINNING END OF DECEMBER 2018, NOTICED SIGNIFICANT SHIMMY IN THE STEERING WHEEL AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AFTER HITTING A SMALL BUMP. HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 40 MPH TO STOP THE SHIMMY. HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN THREE TIMES TO THE DEALERSHIP. REPLACED THE STEERING STABILIZER. THIS HAS NOT HELPED THE PROBLEM. JEEP CONTINUES TO HAVE SIGNIFICANT WOBBLE AFTER HITTING BUMPS AT FREEWAY SPEEDS.
THIS VEHICLE WANDERS IN THE LANE LEFT TO RIGHT WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WHEN PASSING TRACTOR-TRAILERS IT MOVES FROM SIDE-TO-SIDE CAUSING A DIFFICULT AND PERHAPS DANGEROUS SITUATION. FCA'S SLOW RESPONSE, TESTING AND UPGRADING, ALONG WITH THEIR DEALER'S USE OF THE STANDARD PHRASE: "OPERATING AS DESIGNED" IS ANNOYING AND DANGEROUS, AND I JUST HEARD IT FROM A DEALERSHIP SERVICE ADVISOR TODAY IN GEORGETOWN, TX! LET'S ASSUME THAT HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS OF A VEHICLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN NOTICED BY THE POTENTIAL BUYER IN THE TEST DRIVE, AS ANTICIPATED BY THE PHRASE, "OPERATING AS DESIGNED", THE VERY LEAST A CAR MANUFACTURER COULD DO IS TO WARN THE POTENTIAL OWNERS OF A POSSIBLE PROBLEM, SINCE MANY NEW AUTO TEST DRIVES DO NOT INVOLVE VEHICLES TRAVELING 70-80MPH. THE STEERING ON THE JEEP JL WONDERS ALL OVER THE ROAD FORCING CONSTANT COUNTER MOVEMENTS WHILE YOU DRIVE. AT THE SAME TIME, THERE IS ALSO EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THAT COMPOUNDS THE STEERING CHALLENGES.

IT DOESN'T HAPPEN EVERY TIME, BUT NOTICED ITS WHEN MY FOOT IS STILL ON THE GAS UPON HITTING THESE BUMPS. HORRIFYING - ESPECIALLY DRIVING WITH CHILDREN. PEOPLE DRIVING NEXT TO ME COULD SEE THE CAR DOING THIS AT ONE POINT
WHEN ATTEMPTING TO START JEEP, LIGHTS AND EVERYTHING COMES ON BUT WILL NOT START. IF LEFT ALONE FOR 10-30 MINUTES THEN TRY AGAIN IT STARTS UP. BATTERY AND STARTER ARE NOT THE ISSUE. A FORUM ABOUT THIS ISSUE DISCUSSES THE WIRING HARNESS FOR TRANSMISSION. JEEP IS NEW LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON IT.
IF I RUN OVER A BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT OR BUMP IN THE ROAD AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE FRONT SUSPENSION WILL START SHAKING AND MY STEERING WHEEL WILL FEEL COMPLETELY LOOSE. SOMETIMES IT CORRECTS ITSELF AND OTHER TIMES IT IS SUCH A VIOLENT SHAKE YOU HAVE TO REDUCE YOUR SPEED DOWN TO 40 MPH OR LESS UNTIL IT STOPS. ONE INCIDENT WAS WHEN I WAS EXITING THE HIGHWAY AND AS I WAS MERGING IN I HIT A COUPLE OF BUMPS IN THE ROAD. IT STARTED TO SHAKE SO VIOLENTLY THAT I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO LOOSE CONTROL. THANKFULLY I WAS ONLY DOING 35 TO 40 MPH. IT WAS SO BAD THE PERSON BESIDE ME SLAMMED ON THEIR BRAKES. I HAD TO SLOW DOWN TO 15 MPH BEFORE IT STOPPED. THEN IT WAS LIKE NOTHING EVER HAPPENED.

USUALLY DOES IT 2-3 TIMES EVERY TIME I'M ON 4 LANE HIGHWAY. HAD LOCAL MECHANIC LOOK INTO IT. HAVE NOT HAD IT TO DEALER YET.
