TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AVENTURA CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (2198 NORTH EAST 163 STREET, NORTH MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA 33162, (305)-493-5000) TO BE REPAIRED UNDER MANUFACTURER COMMUNICATION NUMBER: 9004166 (DAMPER, STEERING) HOWEVER, THE REPAIR FAILED TO FIX THE ISSUE. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED AND SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONTACT REDUCED THE VEHICLE SPEED AND THE FAILURE WAS CORRECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,525.
WHILE DRIVING UP A MOUNTAIN ROAD REQUIRING UP AND DOWN SHIFTING THE CLUTCH OVER HEATED. IT WAS NOT THE BRAKES SINCE WE I WAS CLIMBING.
THREE WEEKS AFTER I BOUGHT THIS BRAND NEW JEEP, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE ETC AND BATTERY WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON TOO. THE ENGINE WAS OFF TWICE ON THE ROAD. THE POWER STEERING LOST POWER SEVERAL TIMES.
MY POWER STEERING HAS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON FREEWAYS, HIGHWAYS, AND RESIDENTIAL STREETS. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER, INCLUDING RAINY DAYS AND DRY DAYS, SO THAT DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE ANY SORT OF IMPACT ON THE ISSUE. WHEN THE POWER STEERING LOCKS UP THE VEHICLE THROWS AROUND 50 CODES, WHICH THE DEALERSHIP HAS RESET MORE THAN ONCE. EACH TIME THE STEERING LOCKS UP I HAVE TO SLAM ON MY BREAKS AND TURN MY CAR ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES UNTIL THE STEERING STARTS WORKING AGAIN. I HAVE TAKEN MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP TWICE - ON 11/30/2019 AND TODAY (12/29/2019) - AND HAVE CALLED MANY, MANY TIMES TRYING TO GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED. NO ONE SEEMS TO CARE OR KNOW HOW TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I PICKED MY JEEP UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE SECOND TIME EARLIER TODAY, AND MY STEERING COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AGAIN AFTER DRIVING IT 20 MILES. THIS TIME NOT ONLY DID THE STEERING COMPLETELY LOCK UP, BUT THE BREAKS WERE MALFUNCTIONING AS WELL. EACH TIME I TAKE MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY CLAIM THAT THE ISSUE IS RELATED TO THE SWAY BAR DISCONNECT, WHICH MAKES NO SENSE. BASED ON MY RESEARCH THERE AND MANY, MANY STOCK 2019 WRANGLERS THAT ARE HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. IF THIS ISSUE ISN'T TAKEN CARE OF WITH A SENSE OF URGENCY, SOMEONE IS GOING TO END UP LOSING THEIR LIFE. I AM TIRED OF GOING TO THE DEALERSHIP AND BEING PUSHED OUT THE DOOR EACH TIME BEING TOLD THAT THE ISSUE IS FIXED WHEN IT CLEARLY ISN'T. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR THIS ISSUE TO GET RESOLVED?
BOUGHT THIS CAR WITHOUT DRIVING, WAS SENT FROM ANOTHER DEALER. THE CAR I DID TEST DRIVE SEEMED TO WANDER A BIT WHEN DRIVING. REPORTED THIS TO SALESPERSON. HE RESPONDED YES THEY DRIVE DIFFERENTLY. I SAID I GUESS IT JUST TAKES SOME GETTING USED TO. PICKED UP MY CAR A WEEK LATER. ALL OVER THE ROAD, SCARED TO DEATH TO DRIVE. IT WANDERS SO BADLY ON THE HIGHWAY I CANNOT CONTROL IT. I HAVE PARKED IT IN MY GARAGE WITH 175 MILES ON IT AFTER OWNING FOR 10 DAYS. DROVE TO WORK 2 TIMES AND BACK. TOLD THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT ISSUE, WAS TOLD THAT IS RIDICULOUS, THAT THEY TOLD ME IT DRIVES "DIFFERENTLY" AND THAT I KNEW THAT. I TOLD THEM I EXPECTED A DIFFERENT RIDE, BUT NOT A RIDE WHERE I FEEL I AM GOING TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR AND DIE! THEY ALSO TOLD ME THEY HAVE HEARD OF NO ISSUES WITH THE STEERING ON THESE CARS, WHEN I AM FINDING IT EVERYWHERE I LOOK! THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO HELP, SAYING I CAN ONLY TRADE IT IN FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT THEY SELL. I PAID $40,000 CASH. THIS IS NOT BUYERS REMORSE, IT IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE AND I AM NOT GOING TO DRIVE IT. I HAVE A 2019 PORSCHE MACAN BUT WAS LOOKING FOR SOMETHING WITH A LITTLE MORE TRACTION FOR WINTER. THE TRACTION IS FINE ON THE 2019 JEEP, BUT I CANNOT DRIVE IT AS I FEEL SO UNSAFE. NOR DO I WANT TO TRADE IT IN AND HAVE SOMEONE ELSE BUY IT AND GET HURT IN IT
WHEN I HIT A BUMP WITH MY JEEP, THE STEERING WHEEL SHIMMIES OR WOBBLES. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I AM UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. TO MAKE IT STOP I NEED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP.
ONCE I HIT A SPEED OF 70MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND IF I HIT THE SLIGHTEST BUMP, MY ENTIRE JEEP STARTS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. IF I KEEP MY FOOT ON THE GAS AT MY STEADY SPEED, IT JUST GETS WORSE. THE ONLY THING I CAN DO IS TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE GAS, HOLD ON FOR DEAR LIFE, AND HOPE I DON'T CRASH BC AT THAT POINT I HAVE NO CONTROL. I CANNOT MERGE INTO OTHER LANES TO TRY TO MAKE IT OFF THE HIGHWAY FOR SAFETY AND I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ACCEPT WAIT FOR THE VIOLENT SHAKING TO STOP. ALSO TO HOPE ALL VEHICLES SURROUNDING ME THAT ARE GOING HIGH SPEEDS ARE PAYING ATTENTION SINCE MY SPEED DRASTICALLY CHANGES AND THEY DON'T CRASH INTO ME. I HAVE TWO TODDLERS AND THEY SCREAM AND THEIR HEADS ARE JOLTED FROM SIDE TO SIDE IN THEIR CAR SEATS AS I WAIT FOR IT TO STOP. THIS HAPPENS ALMOST, IF NOT ALL, ANY TIME I GO ABOVE 70 MILES AN HOUR AND THERE IS A BUMP IN THE ROAD. IT HAS NOT BEEN ONE TIME ONLY. I NO LONGER CAN DRIVE MY BRAND NEW JEEP WRANGLER ON THE HIGHWAY AND I DO NOT TAKE MY TODDLERS IN THE CAR ON THE HIGHWAY ANYMORE. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER AND I COMMITTED TO THE LARGE MONTHLY AUTO LOAN PAYMENTS TO ENSURE MY KIDS WOULD BE SAFE WHILE DRIVING AND I WOULD HAVE A DEPENDABLE VEHICLE. I HAVE NEITHER BUT I STILL HAVE THE LARGE MONTHLY PAYMENT.
THE STEERING IS LOOSE AND VHICULE WANDERS AT HIGHWAY SPEED. IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP IN A STRAIGHT LINE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. FEELS EXTREMELY UNSAFE. THE DEALER BAS CHANGED THE STEARING DUMPER AND THAT'S NO BETTER. IT'S BEEN LIKE THIS SINCE THE PURCHASE IN DECEMBER 2019.
STEERING DRIFTS ALL OVER THE LANES. MUST CONSTANTLY CORRECT STEERING TO KEEP IT CENTERED IN THE ROADWAY. THIS THING WILL WEAR YOU OUT AFTER A RELATIVELY SHORT DRIVE. WHEN YOU ARE BEING PASSED, ATTENTION MUST BE PAID TO THE STEERING TO KEEP YOU FROM DRIFTING INTO THE PASSING VEHICLE. WITH NO INPUT FROM THE DRIVER, THE VEHICLE WILL DRIFT TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT ON IT'S OWN. THIS IS THE WORST DRIVING VEHICLE I HAVE EVER OWNED.
THE STEERING IS REALLY LOOSE AND DRIVES ALL OVER THE ROAD. I HAVE TO FIGHT IT TO KEEP IT STRAIGHT THERE IS A LOT OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL, THE WHOLE TIME DRIVING MY STEERING WHEEL IS COCKED TO THE LEFT IN ORDER TO DRIVE STRAIGHT. ANY SPEED ANY ROAD.
VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING. WOULD NOT RESTART. MANY WARNING LIGHTS. WAS TRAVELING IN THE PASSING LANE MOVING AT ABOUT 70MPH WHEN VEHICLE TURNED OFF. ALL EXTERIOR LIGHTING WENT OUT AT NIGHT. AND I HAD TO COAST AND WAIT FOR A TOW ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE STEERING BECAME VERY WOBBLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED STEERING ISSUES EVER SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DICK MYERS CHRYSLER JEEP (1711 S MAIN ST, HARRISONBURG, VA 22801) FOUR TIMES BUT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED IN WRITING THAT THE MANUFACTURER KNEW ABOUT THE FAILURE AND WAS WORKING ON A REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND SENT A FIELD MECHANIC INVESTIGATOR WHO DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS NO FAILURE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6.
LOOSE AND 'FLIGHTY' STEERING. VEHICLE SEEMS NEEDS CONSTANT STEERING DIRECTIONS, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS, TO KEEP IN A STRAIGHT LINE. STEERING WHEEL REQUIRES A FEW INCHES OF INPUT IN EITHER DIRECTION TO KEEP STRAIGHT.
JEEP HAS LESS THAN 1,000 MILES JUST LEFT WORK ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY JEEP STARTING SHAKING VIGOROUSLY I SLOWED DOWN AND STARTED TO PULL OVER WHEN I DID IT STOPPED SO I BEGAN TO DRIVE AGAIN SET AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALER. I WILL NOT DRIVE UNTIL IT'S INSPECTED READ ARTICLES AND IT SOUNDS TO BE THE 'JEEP DEATH WOBBLE' OR STEERING DAMPER. VERY SCARY EXPERIENCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH AND MAKING A LEFT TURN, THE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING CHIMED AND A VISUAL INDICATOR ILLUMINATED; HOWEVER, THERE WAS NO OBJECT IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE AUTOMATIC BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGED AND CAUSED ANOTHER VEHICLE TO REAR END THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INJURED, BUT THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS INJURED AND REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN, BUT THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS POSSIBLY DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 17,800.*DT*JB
FIRST NOTICED EXCESSIVE PLAY LEFT TO RIGHT ON STEERING WHEEL. UNABLE TO DRIVE WITHOUT CONTINUOUSLY CORRECTING TO GO STRAIGHT ON ROADS N HIGHWAY. WHILE ON HIGHWAY COMING OVERPASS JEEP WENT RIGHT TO LEFT INTO A 'DEATH WOBBLE' I SLOWED DOWN, STARTED AGAIN IT CONTINUED. PULLED TO THE SIDE OF ROAD AND CONTINUED ON AT SLOWER SPEEDS.. AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER MIGHT HAVE LOST CONTROLLED N IT WOULD BE DEADLY. I DO NOT SEE ANY RECALL ON SITE. MANY HAVE POSTED ON JEEP SITES. NOW I HAVE EXPERIENCED AND PETRIFIED
STEERING IS LOOSE AND CAR WONDERS OVER THE CENTER LINE. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS IT IS UNSAFE. *TR
I AM EXPERIENCING THE DEATH WOBBLE. IT HAPPENED ONCE A FEW WEEKS AGO AND THEN NEARLY FIVE TIMES IN A 180 MILE DRIVE. EACH TIME NEARLY CAUSED AND ACCIDENT AND THE POTENTIAL COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROL. THIS OCCURRED AT SEVEN SPEEDS RANGING FROM 55 TO 75 AND WHEN HITTING SMALL ROAD IMPERFECTIONS.
SO CALLED DEATH WOBBLE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES WITH 10000 MILES ON THE JEEP. I RETURNED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE STEERING DAMPENER AS PER RECALL. DEATH WOBBLE HAS OCCURRED TWO TIMES SINCE CHANGE OF DAMPENER. THE WOBBLE LASTED APPROXI. 2 TO 3 SECONDS.I KEEP THE SPEED AT OR BELOW 65 MPH. I RETURNED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR NOTHING WAS FOUND DEFECTIVE.

THE CONTACT NEEDED TO REDUCE HIS SPEED TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CONTACT CALLED SAFFORD CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM FIAT OF SPRINGFIELD (LOCATED AT 7611 LOISDALE RD, SPRINGFIELD, VA 22150, (703) 866-1700) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,800.
YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE MY WELDS ARE RUSTING, HAVE PITS IN THEM, AND THEIR IS EXCESS SLAG VISIBLE ON FRAME. I KNOW THIS IS AN OUTSTANDING ISSUE, BUT WANTED TO REPORT MY CASE AS IT APPEARS TO BE WHAT IVE READ ABOUT AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS. VEHICLE IS ONLY 5 MONTHS OLD OFF THE DEALERS LOT.
DRIVING 45MPH ON HIGHWAY, JEEP LOST POWER STEERING, WARNING LIGHTS FLASHED BRAKES APPLIED AUTOMATICALLY. SHIFTER SERVICE AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. CAR WAS RESTARTED AFTER STRUGGLING TO GET TO SIDE OF HIGHWAY. RESTARTED JEEP AND POWER STEERING CAME BACK TEMPORARILY BUT IT HAPPENED ABOUT 7 MILES DOWN ROAD THIS TIME THE SHIFTER LOCKED UP AFTER RESTART.
THE STEERING IN THE 2019 JEEP JL WRANGLER IS SO LOOSE AND WANDERS ACROSS THE LANES AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THAT IT HAS BECOME TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY. IT DOES NOT STAY CENTERED AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP STRAIGHT. IT REQUIRES SO MUCH CONCENTRATION TO WORK THE STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP IT IN THE LANE THAT IT'S JUST NOT WORTH THE DRIVE AND THE EXTREME STRESS.
' DEATH WOBBLE' EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES IN THREE MONTHS. LASTED MANY SECONDS, NO CONTROL OF VEHICLE OR WAY TO REDUCE WOBBLE. ALL EPISODES EXPERIENCED AT HIGH SPEED FOLLOWING HITTING A BUMP. APPARENTLY EXPERIENCED BY OTHER OWNERS, DEALER NEVER MENTIONED ISSUE.
THE STEERING WHEEL HAS APPROXIMATELY 1/2 INCH OF UNCONTROLLED PLAY FROM WHEEL CENTER. THIS CAUSES UNCONTROLLED VEHICLE DRIFTING AT SPEEDS GREATER THAN 45 MPH, AND REQUIRES CONSTANT CORRECTIONS TO KEEP THE VEHICLE TRAVELING STRAIGHT. WHEEL MOVEMENT CAN BE SEVERAL INCHES TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT, TO GENERATE THE FORCE REQUIRED TO CORRECT VEHICLE DRIFTING INTO THE NEXT LANE OR SHOULDER.
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH OR OVER, ON HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY AND WAS UNABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE UNTIL THE SPEED DROPPED TO 35 MPH. I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE RECALL DONE TO THE VEHICLE TO REPLACE THE STEERING DAMPER AND THE PROBLEM IS STILL CONTINUING TO OCCUR ANY TIME I HIT A SMALL BUMP OR CRACK IN PAVEMENT I HAVE CALLED JEEP TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED ONCE AGAIN STILL WAITING AFTER A MONTH TO HAVE A CALL BACK TO HAVE REPAIRED MEANWHILE THE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE OVER 50 MPH I ALSO HAVE SEEN ANOTHER COMPLAINT IDENTICAL TO MINE FROM ANOTHER JEEP OWNER IN OHIO. *TR
STEERING: VEHICLE WANDERS AND STEERING IS LOOSE IN EFFORTS TO CORRECT DIRECTION. ANGLE OF ROAD SURFACE SUCH AS CROWN SOMETIMES RESULTS IN UNEXPECTED DIRECTION CHANGE TOWARD ANOTHER LANE AND THE SLOP IN THE STEERING ITSELF MAKES IT CHALLENGING TO CORRECT WITHOUT OVER-CORRECTION. IN TRAFFIC THIS RESULTS IN INTENSE EFFORT TO MAINTAIN POSITION WHICH RESULTS IN INCREASED PHYSICAL AND MENTAL FATIGUE OVER RELATIVELY LONG DRIVES. THE STEERING SEEMS INCONSISTENT AS IT VARIES FROM MINIMALLY PROBLEMATIC TO A WHITE-KNUCKLE DRIVING EXPERIENCE. HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE IF THIS IS DUE TO ROAD CONDITION VERSUS STEERING COMPONENT. DEALER HAS PERFORMED THE V41 STEERING DAMPER RECALL WHICH IMPROVED ONLY EXCESSIVE WHEEL SHUDDER WHEN DRIVING OVER ROAD IMPERFECTIONS AND DID NOTHING TO IMPROVE THE WANDERING/LOOSENESS. THEY ALSO DID ADJUST ALIGNMENT WHICH THEY SAID WAS OFF SLIGHTLY. NO NOTABLE IMPROVEMENT FROM THAT. I HAVE ADVISED DEALER THAT THE REPAIR EFFORT WAS NOT EFFECTIVE AND I WILL NOW HAVE TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK IN, BUT THEY TEND TO JUST PROVIDE THE 'IT'S A JEEP - THAT'S THE WAY THEY ARE' LINE. THE STEERING IN THE JEEP IS NOT TYPICAL AND I SEE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS IN FORUMS WHERE A SINGLE THREAD HAS HALF A MILLION VIEWS. SOMETHING IS NOT RIGHT HERE.
JEEP ACCELERATION FROM A STOP IS INCONSISTENT. THIS CONCERN IS WORSE WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A SLOW SPEED. UPON INITIALLY APPLYING LIGHT PRESSURE TO THE GAS PEDAL, THERE IS NO RESPONSE, BUT THEN THE VEHICLE LURCHES AHEAD AGGRESSIVELY AND IN AN UNEXPECTED MANNER. THIS IS COUNTER-INTUITIVE AS THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH ETORQUE, WHICH IS ELECTRONICALLY APPLIED TORQUE TO ASSIST ACCELERATION. THIS SYSTEM IS TO INSTANTLY APPLY TORQUE TO THE DRIVETRAIN VIA SECONDARY BATTERY POWER - BUT IF THAT WAS WORKING AS EXPECTED, ONE WOULD SEEMINGLY NOT EXPERIENCE THE INITIAL DELAY PRIOR TO THE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. THE DELAYED AND THEN LURCHING ACCELERATION HAS RESULTED IN NEAR ACCIDENTS - IF DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC, THE LURCHING RESULTS IN MY RAPID ACCELERATION WHILE DRIVERS AHEAD OF ME MAY BE STOPPING. ALSO, WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC FROM A STOP OR SLOW ROLL, THE PAUSE RESULTS IN NEEDING TO SLOW OR STOP TO WAIT FOR A BETTER ENTRY OPPORTUNITY, BUT AT THAT SAME MOMENT, THE ACCELERATION KICKS IN. THIS IS NOT PERFORMANCE THAT ONE WOULD EXPECT AND IS A LESS THAN OPTIMAL SAFETY EXPERIENCE. I TOOK THE JEEP TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR AND THEIR RESPONSE WAS 'THE TECH SAID HE DROVE A 2 DOOR 2.0 LITER OVER THE WEEKEND AND IT 'DID THE SAME THING', SO IT MUST BE NORMAL'. I STRESSED THAT NOT BEING AN ACCEPTABLE RESPONSE TO MY REQUEST FOR ASSESSMENT AND REPAIR. IN RESPONSE THEY 'FLASHED' THE SOFTWARE, BUT THAT DID NOT CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO DEMONSTRATE THE SAME ISSUE.
STEERING IS EXTREMELY LOOSE CAUSING EXCESSIVE STEERING CORRECTIONS AND LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN SAFETY. RECALL FOR STEERING DAMPER WAS PERFORMED BUT THERE WAS NO IMPROVEMENT IN THE LOOSE STEERING
LAST NIGHT WHILE DRIVING HOME MY JEEP WRANGLER WENT INTO FULL DEATHWOBBLE. I WAS COMING FROM THE I10 WEST TO THE I 19 SOUTH RAMP AT 50 MPH AND HIT THE BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT AND IT WENT. IT IS A CURVED RAMP OVER PASS AND THE JEEP ALMOST WENT COMPLETELY SIDEWAYS ON THE RAMP. THE JEEP IS TOTALLY STOCK AND HAS 2080 MILES ON IT. I HAVE HAD IT BACK TO THE DEALER AT 1100 MILES FOR THIS SAME COMPLAINT. THEIR RESPONSE IS TO REPLACE A STEERING DAMPER, WHICH IS NOT IN STOCK AND WAS 8 TO 10 WEEKS OUT. EVERY JEEP FRONTEND TECH WILL TELL THAT A STEERING DAMPER IS A BAND AID. THERE SHOULD BE A NATIONAL RECALL ON THESE $55,000 JEEPS.
THERE'S PLAY IN THE STEERING. VERY RISKY ESPECIALLY AT HIGH SPEED AND WINDING ROADS. TOO MUCH PLAY AND HARD TO MANAGE A STRAIGHT PATH. DANGEROUS!!!
TEST DROVE A JEEP WRANGLER, DROVE GREAT. GOT MY NEW WRANGLER, NOT SO GREAT, AS A MATTER OF FACT IT'S DANGEROUS! EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES IT NEAR IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN A LANE.. I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW MUCH MORE DANGEROUS THIS VEHICLE WILL BE ONCE IT IS DRIVEN IN THE SNOW. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE SHOP 3 * WITH ANOTHER APPOINTMENT COMING UP. SO FAR TWO STEERING DAMPNERS 2 WHEEL ALIGNMENTS, NO CHANGE... SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ASAP
VEHICLE STEERING WHEEL AND VEHICLE ITSELF BEGAN TO VIOLENT SHAKE AT 65 MPH.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT APPROXIMATELY 72 MPH, I DROVE OVER A BRIDGE AND SUBSEQUENTLY BUMPS IN THE ROAD. THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY FROM SIDE TO SIDE CAUSING AN INCREASE IN VIBRATION THROUGH OUT MY JEEP AND SWERVING ON THE ROAD. NEXT TIME I WAS WITH MY HUSBAND AND IT DID IT AGAIN AT ABOUT 74 MPH AND HE TOO AGREED THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG. HE NOW FEARS FOR MY SAFETY IN THIS VEHICLE AS I DRIVE A LOT OF MILES.
11/12/2019 2:30 PM DRIVING IN THE FAR LEFT LANE OF 400 NORTH NEAR EXIT 13, THE FAR LEFT LANE HAS DIPS. FIRST DIP CAUSES CAR TO GO INTO A VIOLENT SHAKE. WAS GOING ABOUT 60 MPH. OTHER CARS AROUND ME STARTED TO MOVE INTO DIFFERENT LANES AWAY FROM THE CAR. MY INITIAL THOUGHT WAS A FLAT TIRE. I PULLED INTO THE EMERGENCY LANE AT A FULL STOP. THE TIRES WERE FINE. STARTED DRIVING AGAIN AND CAR WAS NORMAL. 11/15/2019 1:45 PM SAME ISSUE HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING 400 NORTH THIS TIME THE WOBBLING WAS MORE VIOLENT. WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE DASHBOARD. CAR IS CURRENTLY WITH THE DEALER AND I AM UNAWARE WHEN I WILL GET THE CAR BACK.
FROM PURCHASE AS NEW VEHICLE, STEERING WANDERS AND IS NOT TIGHT. I HAVE HAD THE V41 RECALL WITH REPLACEMENT STEERING STABILIZER. WHILE DRIVING YOU MUST ACTIVELY STEER TO MAINTAIN A CENTER LINE IN THE LANE. THERE IS SOME PLAY LEFT TO RIGHT IN THE WHEEL. WHILE AT SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY YOU CANNOT IGNORE OR RELAX THE CONTROL. IF YOU STEER RIGHT YOU MUST STEER LEFT TO CENTER, THE WHEEL DOES NOT RETURN TO CENTER UNASSISTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2019 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SHOOK AND VIBRATED VIOLENTLY AFTER DRIVING OVER A BUMP IN THE ROAD. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE SPEED ABOUT 63 MILE/HR, AND SUDDENLY MY FRONT TIRER, AND MY STEERING WHEEL WAS VIOLENTLY SHAKING. I HAD TO SLOW IT DOWN, AND PULLED OVER. I THOUGHT I GOT FLAT TIRE OR SOMETHING. I GOOGLED, AND FIND OUT A LOT PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM ALSO. IT'S CALLED "DEAD WOBBLE".
PURCHASED VEHICLE NEW AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED THAT IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO KEEP THE VEHICLE STRAIGHT AT LOW SPEEDS OR IN ONE LANE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR TROUBLESHOOTING. AFTER FOUR DAYS THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE STATING ON PAPERWORK THAT IT WAS "AS GOOD AS IT CAN BE." VEHICLE CONTINUED TO WANDER EVEN WORSE AFTER FIX. THIS VEHICLE NOW FEELS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
THE CAR HAVE MULTIPLE DEFECTIVE PARTS INCLUDING STEERING COLUMN CONTROL MODULE, CONSOLE SHIFT MODULE. THE CAR HAVE A HARD TIME SHIFTING IN TO APPROPRIATE GEAR. THOSE DEFECTIVE PARTS CAUSE ABS TO FAIL. WHEELS KEEP GETTING LOCKED WHEN BREAKING, LEADS TO INCREASED BREAKING DISTANCE.
AS I WAS TRAVELING DOWN INTERSTATE 20 IN COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, I CROSSED OVER THE BUSH RIVER ROAD BRIDGE AND HIT A FEW SMALL BUMPS IN THE ROAD WHICH IMMEDIATELY THREW MY JEEP INTO VERY STRONG VIBRATIONS. THE VIBRATIONS WERE SO STRONG THAT I FELT THE VIBRATIONS FROM THE STEERING WHEEL UP MY ARMS AND INTO MY NECK. I TRULY THOUGHT I HAD A FLAT TIRE ON MY JEEP. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 15 - 20 SECONDS OF THESE INTENSE VIBRATIONS, THE VIBRATIONS STOPPED ON THEIR OWN. I CROSSED OVER THREE LANES OF TRAFFIC TO PULL OVER TO INSPECT MY JEEP NOTICING NOTHING ABNORMAL. ALL TIRES HAVE NORMAL, RECOMMEND MANUFACTURED PSI. I HAVE ALL STOCK ITEMS ON MY JEEP WITH NO ALTERATIONS TO THE SUSPENSION SYSTEM, TIRES, ETC. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 13,500 MILES ON IT AND WAS NEWLY PURCHASED EARLIER THIS YEAR AT MORE THAN $55,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 62 MILES PER HOUR, AFTER A TRANSITION ON A ROUGH PATCH OF HIGHWAY ROAD (UNEVEN BLACKTOP) THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE. THE SHAKING FELT HORIZONTAL AS WELL AS VERTICAL. IT STOPPED AND THEN STARTED AGAIN OVER THE COURSE OF ONE TO TWO MILES. IT WAS VERY VIOLENT AND DISRUPTIVE TO THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER CAUSING THEM TO FEEL UNSAFE AND UNWELL. THE DRIVER HAD TO HANG ON TIGHT TO THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE JEEP. WE HAVE NO IDEA IF/WHEN THIS SITUATION WILL REOCCUR AND WHAT DAMAGE HAS BEEN DONE BY THIS TO A RELATIVELY NEW VEHICLE OF LESS THAN 7000 MILES. THIS WAS IN DRY WEATHER ON DRY ROADS. WE WERE DRIVING STRAIGHT, IN A RIGHT LANE AND NOT TURNING AT THE TIME.
1. WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING HAS ABOUT 2 INCHES OF FREE PLAY WHILE TURNING THE WHEEL FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER. IN OTHER WORDS THERE IS A DEAD SPOT FOR ABOUT TWO INCHES OF STEERING WHEEL MOVEMENT. IN THAT DEAD SPOT, MOVING THE STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT CHANGE THE VEHICLE DIRECTION. 2. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL WANDER INTO OTHER LANES WHILE HOLDING THE STEERING WHEEL STEADILY IN ONE POSITION. 3. GOING OVER BUMPS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO UNEXPECTEDLY CHANGE DIRECTIONS. 4. MINOR UNEVEN ROAD SURFACES WILL CAUSE THE STEERING TO WOBBLE VIOLENTLY REQUIRING THE DRIVER TO SLOW DOWN. THIS IS ESPECIALLY TRUE WHILE DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEED -- WHERE SLOWING DOWN IS QUITE DANGEROUS. 5. WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT, THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALWAYS TURNED SLIGHTLY LEFT. NOTE, THIS IS NOT A ONE-TIME INCIDENT. THIS IS A CONSTANT AND CONSTANTLY STRESSFUL ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE. I CAN REPRODUCE ALL OF THE ABOVE AT ANY TIME.
AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS 55-70 IT IS VERY HARD TO KEEP THE JEEP IN IT'S LANE. WHEN A SEMI PASSES IT IS DANGEROUS AND MY WIFE NOW WON'T DRIVE THE JEEP.
FRAME WELDS HAVE SPATTER AND LOOK INCOMPLETE. IMAGES WERE TAKEN NOVEMBER 1ST WHEN I HEARD ABOUT BAD FRAME WELDS.
MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER AT 55 MPH LOST CONTROL OF STEERING ON INTERSTATE 99. SHE DESCRIBED IT AS A FLAT TIRE. UPON INSPECTION- NOTHING FLAT. I AS HER MOTHER DROVE- SANE CONDITIONS. SHE ALMOST WRECKED AND CAUSED A SERIES OF VEHICLES BEHIND HER TO DO SO AS WELL. IT IS A PROBLEM OUR LOCAL JEEP DEALER HAS TRIED TO REPAIR. RECALL PERFORMED AND YET STILL PRESENT. IT'S A VERY VERY UNSAFE VEHICLE. SHE'S IN COLLEGE AND UNABLE TO DRIVE TO CLASS. THE DEATH WOBBLE IS INFECT THERE. I WILL SUE WHOMEVER IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO HER OR ANYONE ELSE. I LOVE THE JEEP PRODUCTS. THIS HAS LESS THEN 6000 MILES ON IT. I HAND ANOTHER ONE SAHARA. 2019- SANE BULL BEGINNNJNG AT 3790 MILES. I AM SEEKING A LAWYER. BOTH MY OLDER TEENS ARE IN DANGER AND IT'S NOT RIGHT. WE PAID CASH IN FULL AND THE JEEPS HV TO SIT HERE!
Took to the dealership for a few problems and one of them was loose or wandering steering, while warranty was still covered 3/36. Dealer stated "thats how a jeep drives" and did fix the other issues i also brought it in for. Only a few years later just after i cross 40,000 miles, I decide to plan a road trip but dont want the hassle of constant steering corrections on the trip. I notice while seaching the internet for aftermarket steering fixes that Jeep had a TSB for the exact same issue I have and others who were still under warranty were getting the new sterring components and loving their Jeep! I am still frustrated that the dealer says its no longer covered for me even though all the new models have the new steering components now. The TSB should have been communicated to owners to be able to safely handle their Jeep at highway speeds even in windy conditions. Instead I just dont drive it most of the time.
STEERING IS WOBBLING SINCE PURCHASING. I HAVE HAD THE DAMPER REPLACED AND HAS NOT HELPED AT ALL. A TON OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BAYSIDE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE (21219 NORTHERN BLVD, BAYSIDE, NY 11361) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A REAR AXLE FAILURE AND ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE
2019 JL RUBICON 4 DOOR. HAS EXCESSIVE PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL GOING DOWN THE ROAD. JEEP DRIFTS FROM SIDE TO SIDE IN THE LANE. DOESN'T FEEL RIGHT, LIKE THE STEERING BOX IS SHOT. DOESN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING. GET IT FIGURED OUT ASAP!
