The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he became aware that the instrument panel cluster failed to display permanent vehicle information, potentially compromising the vehicle safety. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with a circuit within the instrument panel. The vehicle was not repaired. After investigating the failure, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 73,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the instrument panel was blank before eventually returning to normal operation. The failure was intermittent at first before becoming a permanent failure. The contact was unable to see the speedometer, mileage, fuel gauge level, and other vital features of the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); and associated the failure with the recall. Two dealers were notified of the failure and stated that the VIN was not under recall. A diagnostic test was performed, and the contact was provided with an estimate for the repair. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The contact sent an email to the manufacturer, but had not yet received a response. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owned a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while the contact's wife was driving at an uncertain approximately 45-90 MPH, another vehicle merged in front of the contact causing the driver to swerve and the other vehicle crashed into the front driver-side tire and frame. The contact stated that the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. The contact stated that the vehicle was later towed to the insurance company's tow yard for inspection. The vehicle incurred damage to the front driver's side of the grill and the driver's side of the vehicle. The contact's grandson, who occupied the front passenger seat, sustained no injuries. The contact's wife was transported to the local hospital. The contact's wife received unknown injuries and was transported to the hospital for a CT scan and continued medical attention with her primary care doctor, a neurologist, and continued physical therapy. A police report was filed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
The instrument cluster stopped working while driving. The panel is now black with no vehicle information displayed. The vehicle matches the description for a recall that has already been issued, but this VIN was not included in the recall. The current recall should be expanded to include this VIN #.
Instrument cluster is not working. It was flashing and then went black. I have no access to oil, gas, tires, or other important warnings. I fear my safety is at risk as well as others on the road due to this malfunction.
TIRE SIZE: 35X12.5R18 I bought these tires off Amazon and I was notified in December they was recalled. I have been dealing with the seller along the way and the manufacturer. The manufacturer asked me to grind the emblem off the tire to make them meet the standards of the recall. I refused to do so. I contacted Amazon to get a refund and the seller will not issue a refund. Can you help me please?
# 11644630 This is the reference number to the representative I spoke with. I am attaching the latest letter I have received stating our tires was recalled. This letter attached was received on February 25, 2025.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the infotainment system screen was blank. The contact stated that the failure persisted. There was no warning light illuminated. Additionally, the contact stated that upon completing a routine inspection of the vehicle, he noticed that the thermostat housing was leaking. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact related the failure to several unknown Technical Service Bulletins. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.
The entire instrument cluster failed on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler and had to be completely replaced at the dealer. One day, when starting the vehicle, the entire cluster was off with no advanced warnings, no speedometer, no fuel gauge, no warning lights, no odometer, and no information display of any kind. The vehicle would still operate, but all gauges and dashboard functions were non-functional. To make matters worse, this occurred as we were leaving the hospital with our [XXX] child during a snowstorm. Our child had just been admitted for three days to the PICU for RSV-related issues. The safety of our infant was directly put at risk due to the complete loss of all dashboard and warning information while driving in hazardous conditions. We took the vehicle to the Plainfield, Indiana Jeep dealership and were informed that the entire instrument cluster needed to be replaced. We were charged $1,526 for this repair. Now, approximately one year later, the replacement instrument cluster is exhibiting similar issues. While driving, the cluster will randomly flicker or blink, indicating the underlying electrical or instrument-panel defect was not fully resolved. During these events, visibility of speed, warnings, and vehicle status is temporarily lost. This remains an ongoing safety concern. Given that NHTSA has opened an investigation into Jeep instrument-cluster failures, I believe this issue represents a systemic defect rather than an isolated incident and warrants further review. 1. Corrosion which is a Jeep/Mopar known issue - paint bubbles on the aluminum doors/hinges. No recall/fix. 2. Death Wobble: Also known as loosing control to steer the car. This is a huge issue with all stock and this has not been addressed yet. There are a lot of videos and cases out there to proof this case. 3. Coolant Reservoir leak: Recently there are 276 coolant reservoirs needed from Mopar for this car configuration. Information provided by a Jeep/Mopar parts service employee.
Steering wheel gets very hot and the steering wheel and steering column start to smoke. Burning smell is toxic. This is a safety issue that needs to be repaired by Jeep.
instrument cluster failed - it is not available for inspection - it is at a dealership safety was put at risk because we could not see fuel gauge problem confirmed by dealer
Loss of power. Vehicle went into limp mode. Codes P00AF, P24B1 and P1DB1. Vehicle only has 28,500 miles and is having constant electrical issues.
My jeep tends to shake really bad when I get up to a speed of 70 mph and it’s scary. I think it’s called the death wobble and I believe I missed when there was a recall on it but no one really informed me much about it. I was hoping to please receive help. I have to drive it to get back and forth places for me and my son
When driving at freeway speeds, bumps in the road cause the "death wobble". This has occured on multiple occasions. The wobble remains until the jeep comes to a complete stop.
Instrument panel cluster stopped displaying information. I believe this is a safety issue because I am not able to be warned of critical information. Dealer inspected part and determined it needs replacement.
The situation detailed in document ZD8 is currently impacting my Jeep, as well as an overwhelming number of other Jeeps across the country. It is quite distressing to learn that the part I urgently need—the coolant bottle reservoir—is entirely on backorder. To make matters worse, this particular component is no longer being manufactured. What raises alarms for me is how this scenario can be regarded as acceptable at all. It prompts serious questions regarding the nature of the recall, particularly since it has been classified as voluntary. This classification appears to be quite misleading, given that the issue extends beyond just specific Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs). In reality, the problem has a much broader reach than merely the listed VINs, impacting a wider array of vehicles than is currently being recognized. It is troubling that so many Jeep owners are left without this essential part for their vehicles, beckoning a broader reflection on the accountability of manufacturers when faced with such significant issues. The extensive impact of this situation raises urgent calls for clarity, responsibility, and action to address the needs of affected consumers. This situation not only undermines trust but also highlights the pressing need for the automotive industry to prioritize consumer safety and welfare.
The cluster instrument panel stopped working. It is a part that has been recalled. It was taken to the local jeep dealer and they confirmed the issue. Apparently, my jeep has not been added to the recall list yet. I also reported the issue directly to Chrysler back when it first happened.
Smelling raw gas..took to mechanic and it has a cracked fuel line and bad connector on it ..it is pouring gas oit and has been undrivable for over 4 weeks it has the 2.0 liter motor In it ...
During highway speeds when terrain changes during a slight turn or just terrain changes in road jeep starts to shake and vibrate violently lasting a minute untill slowing down finally stops it
The vehicle on multiple occasions has "lunged" forward while the driver had foot on the brake and the vehicle was near an idle mode. The most recent occurrence happened on/about October 21, 2024. The incident was report to Jeep Customer Service and they opened ticket number 91301121. Jeep advises to have the vehicle diagnosed but refuses to pay for the diagnoses of to verify the vehicle is safe to drive. I have advised them the vehicle is unsafe since this has occurred on multiple occasions. The latest incident involved the vehicle lunging forward 18-24" before the operator could gain control of the vehicle. The vehicle nearly missed the garage door framing and another parked vehicle in the garage. Had there been a person in front of the vehicle, they would have bee hit and the same could easily happen if a pedestrian was crossing the street in front of the vehicle.
While driving on a freeway, going over 40mph if I hit a bump or do not grip to my steering wheel very very tight the steering wheel gets wobbly, and starts shaking violently for a long period of time until I slow back down to under 30mph. Luckily traffic wasn’t too bad and I was able to safely do so. But it’s dangerous to slow down that much on the freeway, especially not having complete control over the steering wheel. Has happened multiple times, not just this once.
Just purchased a 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL Unlimited 4 door. At low speeds, the vehicle wanders a little on the road. At highway speeds, in traffic, the vehicle swerves towards passing vehicles. In heavy traffic, it becomes a white-knuckle experience trying not to hit or be hit by other vehicles. The steering is just so loose that it feels unsafe. Noticed online that many other Jeep owners complain of loose steering as well. Jeep has published a Service Bulletin # 08-074-20 to address the known issue but has not issued a formal recall.
While driving at highway speed needed to use the visor as my vision was lost rounding a curve into direct sunlight. Upon pulling visor down it detached from mount (now another total distraction as it was hanging while driving in highway traffic.) Very dangerous! When I researched I found many that have had the same issue.
The instrument panel on this vehicle has failed and gone blank. Same issue as noted in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000
Dealership diagnosed leaking fuel line to engine - exact same issue as Y10 Recall, but my VIN is not covered. I would like my VIN included in the Recall.
I took my vehicle to a Jeep dealer because the instrument panel on my dashboard went completely dark. The technician advised that I would need a new Instrument ClusterPanel, part #68442288AE. He also advised that there is a safety recall on this part however my VIN did not fall into the recall range although my vehicle DID fall into the year, model and make of the recall. I am making this complaint because I would like my vehicle to be covered by this recall since I have encountered the very situation in the recall and my vehicle matches the year, make and model covered in the recall.
Fuel supply connect locking device failure. Attempted to start vehicle and fuel leaked beneath mid section of vehicle about a gallon. Engine was cold as well as exhaust and caticlic converter. Safety Hazard to occupants fire/explosion. Vehicle towed to Oak Harbor, Washington dealership for repair. Safety retaining clips missing which allowed fuel lines to open and leakage.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that after starting the vehicle, the instrument panel went blank. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was acknowledged; however, the contact discovered upon investigation that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle remained in dealer possession unrepaired. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
Both the driver side and passenger side sun visors became disconnected from the jeep making it impossible for it to be folded up or placed into position. I had to purchase aftermarket adaptors to fix this problem.
Strong gas smells inside and outside if the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel was difficult to control, causing the vehicle to drift from side to side. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to drive in a straight line. Additionally, while driving at highway speeds and pressing the brake pedal, the vehicle was drifting to the left. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the steering gear box was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under a Manufacturer Extended Coverage to address the failure. The failure mileage was 25.
The wipers were on and lights were flickering. The car does not turn on.
I recently purchased a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon from a private party. The vehicle has not been used much for highway driving, only town. During driving at several different speeds, I have experienced difficulty in controlling steering to include but not limited to instances of jerking and the vehicle drifting from side to side. When these episode have transpired the vehicle failed to drive in a straight line. Additionally, while driving at highway speeds and pressing the brake pedal, the vehicle has drifted severely to the left. As the vehicle is under warranty, I set up an appointment at South Point Jeep in Tulsa, Ok and notified the repair person of the issue. I was advised that my vehicle had no open recalls and that they did not take into consideration any TSB's. The vehicle has not yet been repaired.
My vehicle had been experiencing loud acceleration as well as difficulty while driving. Upon taking the vehicle to the dealership where purchased they informed me the rear differential on the vehicle was starting to fail. They informed me they had ordered the part from Mopar with no recollection of when it would be in other than it stating it was on backorder. We have tried getting in touch with Mopar over expediting the piece to be told they also have no idea when it will be in, but they are working on it. The vehicle has been messed up for over a month and is worsening. I am having greater difficulty driving it and at points it begins to bounce while moving. It is getting to the point I am now starting to worry for my own as well as others safety because I am unsure when it will fully stop working.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle shuddered and was difficult to maneuver. No warning lights were illuminated. The failure had occurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was diagnosed, and determined that the steering damper, inner tie rods, adjuster sleeve, outer tie rods, and the drag link assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a different dealer, Vallejo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (4325 Sonoma Blvd, Vallejo, CA 94589), where it was diagnosed and determined that the steering damper, inner tie rods, adjuster sleeve, outer tie rods, and the drag link assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 45,500.
In August the entire instrument cluster on my vehicle suddenly quit working while driving. Just prior to this the check seat belt warning came on though my seatbelt was engaged. I pulled over, released then re-engaged the seatbelt , turned the engine off and restarted it and began driving when the entire instrument cluster lost illumination and NONE of the gauges were working, no speedometer, engine monitoring, gas gauge etc. But the engine was running, lights ,turn signals, windshield wipers were all working. After my son and I tried unsuccessfully to find the problem we contacted our Jeep dealership, but couldn’t get an appointment until mid September to have it checked. They found that it was an internal problem and the unit needs to be replaced. However the parts are unavailable at this time from their supplier. Apparently this has been a problem with other owners and the supplier said that Jeep is changing the cluster unit and the new ones won’t be available to order until November 20th. I believe this is a safety issue since the driver is unable to monitor issues using the instrument cluster and it occurred suddenly and obviously has happened to other owners and therefore a recall should be issued and the problem fixed.
Rear Seat Headrest does not stay locked/engaged in the upright position. This could lead to increased risk of head and neck injuries to rear passenger occupants in the event of impact from behind.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at approximately 65-70 MPH, the vehicle experienced the death wobble. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who determined that the failure was related to the track bar. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that the death wobble failure was intermittent but had progressed over time. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 37,000.
Unknown what started the issue. While driving it, service electronic control dash light went on. The vehicle started losing power. We were able to get to the highway shoulder. Other dash lights were going on as we were moving over. Immediately after putting it in park and turning the vehicle off, smoke started billowing out from the hood. The vehicle engine was on fire and it was completely destroyed. The only on-going issue we had with it was auto start/stop with both auxiliary and main battery having to be replaced twice over the course of 4 years. There was an active recall for fuel pump component and we were on a waiting list for parts from the dealer since Sept 2023 and we were still waiting.
I am the origional owner of this vehicle. The vehicle has approximately 67,000 miles on it. I own a Mopar premier extended warranty covering the vehicle for 7 years, or 100,000 miles, whatever comes first. My complaint, which I believe creates a severe safety hazard on a public roadway, is the inner front fender wheel lines have failed on three different occasions requiring replacement. When the liners fail, it leaves exposed the 4 individual brake lines from the master cylinder. Road debris, when the inner fender wheel well is missing, can easily strick the brake lines by road debris thrown from the front tire while driving leading to brake failure and loss of control which can result in injury up to and including death to the driver, occupants, or others. I have contacted corporate Jeep on two different occasions to ask for repairs, and they refused to correct the issue. Their position is the vehicle is beyond the 3 year, 36,000 mile initial warranty, and my extended warrenty will not cover the repair as this wheel well liner is considerd a "trim piece". I am looking to NHTSA for assistance as this failure is something that should be mandated for a safety recall, and the dealer has told me the design of the liner on the JL series is prone to failure. I have owned 4 other Jeep Rubicon's over the past 10-15 years, and this has not been an issue on my other vehicles prior to the redesign of current Jeep Wrangler JL series. I have filed a complaint with Jeep, and they refuse to escallate my issue. The dealer says they cannot address the issue without corporate approval, and Jeep does not have a work flow to escallate the issue internally. I have photos which will clearly show the exposed 4 brake lines at the upper edge of the frame rail. I attempted to upload 8 photos of approximately 80-90 KB each. Your web portal would not accept any photos. Help me submit photos for review.
The fuel supply line leading from the gas tank, along the passenger side of the transmission, and over the top of the transmission bell housing has failed and is leaking gas onto the transmission and then onto the ground. This is a dangerous fire hazard and placed my safety at risk. I have not yet taken the vehicle to a repair facility as I live over 30 minutes away from the nearest dealership. I am the only person that has inspected the vehicle and observed the leak using a remote camera as of the filing of this complaint on 7-18-24 at 1:30 pm. There were no warning lamps or messages associated with this part failure. I could smell a strong odor of gasoline fumes from within the vehicle which prompted me to inspect what the source was. As I understand, a previous recall for this part failure was issued in 2021, but did not include my VIN.
on 17th July 2024 afternoon I was driving the jeep and the engine started smoking. I quickly pulled the vehicle to the side of the road and within a couple of minutes the engine was on fire. I have raised the issue with Jeep and awaiting their response
I was driving my 2020 Jeep Wrangler on the highway when all of a sudden I felt the car shake. I pulled quickly to the side of the highway as I thought I maybe had a tire issue. When I got to the side, the car was making a strange noise, so I called AAA to be towed. I had NO warning lights or anything to advise me that I was about to have an issue. I was lucky to get to the side of the highway without having a safety issue. After the mechanic checked out the car they noticed the Oil Pump had failed which caused the engine to seize. The car only had 63,176 miles on it with all the regular Oil changes performed at the jeep dealership. I had no leaks of oil, or warning lights and jeep didn't indicate any issues at the last oil change. I feel this is a big safety issue. Had I not got over to the side of the road, my car would be dead in the middle of the highway with no warning.
One day, my check engine light came on but when I went to Auto Zone no issues came back. The light came on again a week later so I went back to Auto Zone (I attached the photo of the diagnostic they gave me). I went back to the Jeep Dealership and they said the next available would about a week later but I would be fine in the meantime. I unfortunately was not fine. I attached screenshots from the video of all the issues that popped up during the incident a few days later. My steering wheel locked up while I was driving. My car came to a complete sudden stop like it automatically went into park while I was driving. Then, the windshield wipers started going by themselves. My gas meter went down to E then back up and down. The car not go into park and it would not turn off by pressing the push start button. I had to call a tow truck because I could not move. It was very scary and extremely unsafe. My car has been at the same Jeep Dealership since then on June 17, 2024 with no updates and no repairs. I have been waiting in limbo. I have contacted higher management and even they have given me no answers.
We have had this jeep for a couple of years and it has less than 30k miles on it. Initially, the visor on the passenger side would drop out and just hang. This happened pretty much after we got it but just thought this was a feature of the jeep modularity so we would just push it back in. Now this started happening on driver side and I see this as a safety issue as this can obscure vision at the wrong time. I went to dealer/manufacturer(Jeep) and they do not see this as a defect worthy of replacing outside of their standard 3 year warranty. I had purchased an extended warranty from the dealer from Mastertech and they would not cover it either. This issue appears to be common defect in manufacturing design over several years over several lines of Jeep versions and I am shocked that something like this that could theoretically impair line of site for the driver while driving has not been addressed by Jeep. I am equally shocked that NHTSA has not pursued and or forced a safety recall for this. I have never had a car drop its visor and with this jeep both visors do this for a vehicle that gets very little use(under 30k miles).
