Sun visor just fell off the hinge as I attempted to lower it.
The sun visors on my Jeep wrangler are broken. I have reviewed several forums and believe this is systemic issue among Jeep Wranglers. Although not a major safety concern, I believe it could create a dangerous situation on the road. Apparently, these sun visors are not covered by warranty either. Because this is such a systemic issue, I believe that Jeep should issue a recall and fix all of these sun visors.
The ABS module failed and caused an issue while in the middle of driving it. When the ABS module failed, I lost power steering and other critical functions. When I lost functionality, errors that I saw on the dash included: “service breaks, service ABS, service shifter” etc. Luckily it didn’t cause any accidents. The vehicle is currently at the dealer service department. It has been there for 3 1/2 months waiting on an ABS module that is on back order. The dealer just advised me today that it could be another 3 months. It’s already been on order for the last 2 months.
My Jeep Wrangler 2020 Sports Unlimited started malfunctioning on the road and the Jeep stopped, started smoking, caught on fire, and Blew up
I have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler JL that I purchased in October of 2023. Since the day I bought it I noted that it wanders down the road and requires constant steering correction, left/right right/left left/left right/right and so on. It has excessive freeplay at top dead center of the steering. Mfg issued a TSB acknowledging the defective steering boxes that Jeep installed in our wranglers from 2018-2020. However, for those of us that bought used, they will not replace these dangerous steering gear boxes and I have had multiple close calls where even a moments inattention can result in the vehicle ending up in an adjacent lane or onto the shoulder of the road. This is not safe and the steering gear box TSB must be made a recall by NHTSA before someone ends up dead because of this safety issue.
Our vehicle developed a steering problem and a friend told me that there was an issue with Jeeps that had an aluminum steering box and he gave me a copy of a TSB that described the exact problem I was having. I took the Jeep to the Jeep dealer that we have used to do all of our service work. The told me the problem was caused by the aluminum steering box as the TSB stated. The service manager at the dealership refused to warranty the work because it was past the warranty. He told me he has changed out several, but for him to do the work Jeep would have to authorize the work and gave me the number to call. I call Jeep Cares and received a case number. I received an email from Sugeeth, the case manager. He then called and let me know he would contact the dealer for information and get back to me. Sugeeth then sent me an email with no information except to let me know if I need further information I would need to bring the Jeep to the dealer for diagnosis and reopen the case. The Jeep has been to the dealer and they have done a complete diagnosis with a complete list of repair the needs to be done to correct the steering. I have copies of the repair estimate and emails. I also have a copy of the TSB that describes the problem with the following statement: "If the customer describes the symptom/condition listed above, perform the Repair Procedure." I am unable to upload the documents. I can email the documents any time.

The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V116000 (Power Train); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
The sun visors break off and fall down, obscuring view of the road ahead. This happened on both sides after two years of ownership, was replaced under warranty, then broke apart two years later out of warranty. The dealership demands hundreds of dollars to fix PER visor. For the exorbitant price for a part that shouldn’t even wear out like that (or that quickly), the only alternative is to buy third party brackets to secure the visors instead. These brackets are not made or offered in any way by Jeep or Mopar. Broken visors on 2018-2024 models are a well-known and very common problem according to Jeep’s own service technicians and hundreds of other Jeep owners online. Jeep/Stellantis should be forced to issue a recall on the visors / install for free the necessary securing brackets and offer full refunds to any customers who already paid out of pocket to get their visors replaced at the dealership. The part/design itself is faulty and having them replaced without the addition of extra securing brackets only guarantees that they will break again in the future. Having the sun visor suddenly fall / hit you / dangle in front of your face while driving is an absolute safety hazard and it’s shocking that nothing has been proactively done by Jeep to address this concern.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to respond. The brake pedal was depressed multiple times however still failed to respond. The vehicle proceeded to drift 150 yards causing the vehicle to crash into the contacts residence and come to a stop at a piece of furniture. No warning lights were illuminated. No injuries were sustained. The front passenger side of the vehicle was damaged. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, where it was repaired for cosmetic damages, however; it was not diagnosed or repaired for the failure. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal failed to operate causing the contact to crash into the vehicle in front. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was not damaged. No injuries were sustained. A police report was filed. The vehicle was then taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed with a high-current fuse array that needed replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
The driver-side visor in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited JL which has been repaired previously, continues to fall out of its bracket. This presents a significant safety risk while driving in bright conditions when the visor is unavailable to block/screen sunlight.
Right after leaving work, the following message appear shifter error. Dash light up marking all type of errors whipers, gasoline, motor, etc. And the most scary part was NO power steering at all. Then ONE second latter it totally shut down. Thanks GAD! there where no cars behind me or next to me and I was able to pull over and tuns on my emergency lights. But I was about to go into the freeway only 2 blocks away from it. Just imagine! that happening at 65 or 70 miles in rush hour. I consider that my life was in danger with this issue, Not only mine everyone driving around me. What if it happens again? I am truly afraid to drive my jeep in a freeway or even travel.
There is significant paint bubbling around all the door hinges and on the hood as well. This poses a concern because the areas are increasing in size as well as a safety issue as they’re around the door hinges. This Jeep was sold to us in Sept 2022 with these issues. The defect is getting worse.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, there was an abnormal gasoline odor detected. The contact inspected the vehicle and became aware that gasoline was dripping underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a faulty fuel hose that was connected to the rear of the engine. The contact was informed that the fuel hose needed to be replaced. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,200.
There is a current recall out for the dash panel failures. I have issues with my dash panel that would be described as a failure that I believe should fall under the recall for this issue, my make and model matches however my specific VIN # does not. I'm hoping to get that changed so I May be ble to get my dash panel fixed under the recall. The panel throws incorrect warnings and glitches to where you cannot see what's shown on the screen, as if it is completely dim all the time. The photo provided is when the dash first started glitching in april, you can see the colors are changed and PRN is dimmed. Now everything is completely gone
the accident the guy hit me on the back and I rolled over like four times. The air bag didn't come out.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the instrument panel intermittently failed to operate as needed. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was 60,002.
Driving on Interstate at 60 miles an hour, the vehicle shook back and forth so violently that I nearly lost control. I though something had broken in the suspension, and it was all all I could do to remain in my lane and get to the nearest off ramp. It subsided when I got off the freeway, where I physical inspected the wheels but couldn't find any visible issues with the suspension. It hasn't happened since (but now I stay off the freeway). I've taken the vehicle to the local Jeep dealer and was told that the issue is a known manufacture defect, which they referred to as an insane shake, and was told that I need to purchase a sway bar to correct the defect. No warning lighting appeared before or after.
When starting my 2020 Jeep Wrangler all warning lights were flashing. I called dealership and they asked if the car could be driven. Eventually all of the lights went off except service engine and we were able to drive it to the dealer. They did a diagnostic check and could not identify the problem. They then reset the service engine light. One day later the same thing happened again shortly after starting and while we were driving. The car braked on its own without any notice while we were driving and everything started flashing again. We could not shift the car or move it. We decided to have it towed to the dealer. After 3 days they found that the ABS Module had to be replaced. Unfortunately these modules are back ordered for several months. I have no idea when my car might be fixed.
Stellantis issued Recall #19A more than a year ago (NHTSA Recall #23V-116) and still does not have a remedy
At or about 68mph always while on interstate highways if I drive over certain bumps in the road my vehicle gets a dangerous shaking of the steering wheel that is very violent shaking. This shaking does not stop until I bring my vehicle to a complete stop.
This particular jeep has been in 2 accidents where partial front and complete front impact occurred with zero airbag deployment. 1st wreck was 33k in damages with a bent frame and second was 10k . Both accidents bumpers needed replaced. Aug 28 2023 wreck was Jeep struck power pole [broke in two] at around 45mph and Feb 11 2024 centered a tree after striking a deer 15mph
An internal defect in the 2014-2020 Jeep Wranglers with the 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine affects its rocker arms, lifters, and related valvetrain components, including the engine control module (ECM) software that controls the precise timing and function of the lifters. Specifically, the rollers of a Pentastar engine’s rocker arms prematurely wear down, become loose, and then drop, which shifts the rocker arm out of alignment. The rocker arms then come into contact with the cam, scraping both components and creating metal debris. This Pentastar V6 engine defect creates an audible ticking sound that stems from metal particles and debris from the failed rocker arms and other components, contaminating the engine oil and circulating throughout the engine. This defect also causes engine misfires, resulting in bucking and surging, decreased engine performance, hesitation, loss of power, premature wear on internal components, and eventually catastrophic engine failure. The check engine light came on in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler with 69,000 miles. After having it read by a dealer, it showed the P219A code, Bank 1 air/fuel imbalance. The dealership told me that if the Jeep was running fine, I did not have to worry about it, as it was likely an O2 sensor. The code was cleared, and the P219A code returned the following day. It was driven approximately 500 miles before noticing that it began idling roughly and had an engine tick, which the dealership confirmed to be a valvetrain issue. The rocker arms, lifters, valves, and camshaft components of the Pentastar V6 engine in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler with 70,000 miles have failed. Three Jeep dealerships in my area and MANY online forums stated that this is a common occurrence with this engine, which has escalated my concern about this problem.
The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving at 2 MPH, the vehicle started to stall, and the vehicle was downshifting. The contact was unaware of any warning lights being illuminated. The transmission downshifted with a burning odor and was losing power intermittently. The vehicle was not yet diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired after the recent failure, because the dealer informed the contact that the parts were on backorder. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 21,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
STEERING WANDERS AS IF SOMETHING IS LOOSE IN THE STEERING MECHANISM. IT FEELS LIKE IT WOULD LIKE TO GET INTO A WOBBLE IF I HIT A BUMP OR RUT IN THE ROAD. I HAD IT LOOKED AT AND MECHANIC FOUND NOTHING WRONG. HE RE-BALANCED THE FRONT TIRES BUT IT STILL WANTS TO WANDER AS IF THERE IS TOO MUCH PLAY IN THE STEERING....
Power steering failed and lost engine power. Very dangerous and potentially life threatening event. Unit would not start again for at least 15 minutes. This is the second time this has happened since the dealership was supposed to have fixed by changing out the battery. I reiterate THESE ARE VERY DANGEROUS EVENTS AND COULD CAUSE A FATAL TRAFFIC ACCIDENT.
While traveling on the interstate 3 months ago, my 2020 Jeep Wrangler began to vibrate violently after driving over a seam in the road while traveling around 70mph. After slowing down and pulling over, I assessed the exterior of the car and tires for any obvious defects and continued on without identifying any structural problems. Within the next 20 miles the violent reverberations occurred again. We pulled over, concerned that something catastrophic could occur and brought the Jeep to a local mechanic. The mechanic suggested that the wheels should be balanced which we complied with, although we had just recently had a tire rotation and balance prior to this trip, but thought perhaps the violent shaking caused the tires to misalign. That same day, we searched online to see if others had experienced a similar phenomenon and learned about the "death wobble". We called Jeep that day and they would neither confirm nor deny that the Jeep was safe to drive for the remainder of our trip. We continued on at a lower speed and encountered the same problem the following day. We feel this vehicle is unsafe to drive and Jeep has informed us that they do not have enough parts to fix our Jeep because of the volume of affected vehicles. We’ve been on a waitlist for the part for the past 3 months.
I was on [XXX] when my jeep started shaking violently I pulled over in a rest area. Checked my tires and lug nuts everything seemed fine. Got back on [XXX] and about 5 miles later it happened again. On Friday [XXX] going to holly hill I hit a rough spot and my jeep wrangler shook violently again!! I caller a dodge dealer service department explained what happened and the young man called it a (DEATH WOBBLE) VERY SCARY!!! I reported the instrument panel failure to jeep cares and my vehicle was not listed in the recall. I completed this repair 1/28/2022. I am concerned that all the jeeps affected were not included in the recall. I am not sure how fast I was going because there were no lights on the dash to allow me to see the MPH. Mileage was 52423. The instrument panel went dark several minutes while I was driving down the highway. It required replacement. [XXX] was notified on [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
While driving, my Jeep's infotainment screen kept flashing an advertisement for SiriusXM Service. I found this obnoxious and distracting because it would display it on my screen every time I came to a stop. And then go away as I started moving again.
The defrost vent for the windshield spans the length of the whole windshield but only comes out of the center of the vents, the sides in front of the driver and passenger do not blow air and creates a visibility problem since snow will accumulate where the heat doesn’t blow. Very common issue as I can see from extensive research
While driving around 44 mph the vehicle started with a death wobble, steering wheel started shaking very hard at the point I almost lost control of the vehicle and crossed the other lane. It’s very scary and dangerous that if another driver is close,we could have an accident.
Premature failure of the Particulate Matter Sensor - Mopar (68297518AA)
The electrical connection in the seatbelt breaks causing the airbag and seatbelt light to constantly illuminate not knowing if the break would cause the airbags from deploying
Rear Defroster failed and not covered under warranty even though the problem started while the car was under warranty. Their "fix" was to glue it back on but that didn't fix it. Now my car is out of warranty they won't fix it even though I have extended warranty from them that state that it covers electric window defoggers.
When vehicle goes over bump on roadway at elevated speed - vehicle steering vibrates uncontrollably.
Back up camera not working. When I out car in reverse screen does not turn into camera as it used to.
In September of this year, I would get a random code thrown by the computer, usually telling me that the sway bar disconnected required service, but sometimes it was also the 4wd system. These codes would reset themselves within a few minutes, but I still took it to a dealership for a checkup. The dealership told me that since it currently was not throwing any codes there wasn't really anything they could do. The problem continued to worsen over the next few months. The codes thrown become more varied. I took the vehicle to the dealership two more times and again, no solution was found. Sometimes in the morning when I would go to start the vehicle, it would start, but would not allow the shifter to move, saying that service was required. I took it to the dealerhip again, and no solution could be found. Then the worse started happening. The computer would start throwing several codes at the same time, and then enter a reboot cycle, as I was driving down the freeway. During the reboot cycle, power to the accelerator and power steering would flap on and off, and my ability to steer the vehicle would alternate between powered and unpowered within seconds, leading to a very dangerous situation. The accelerator was the same, disabling my ability to respond to the conditions on the road. I escalated to Jeep's corporate system and left my Jeep at the dealership for two weeks. They were eventually able to identify the CAN BUS as the problem and replace it. I was informed that this was a common problem in Jeep Chrysler vehicles. SInce the replacement of the CAN BUS, I have not experienced any further incidents.
My Jeep dealership has confirmed that a Steering Damper replacement is necessary to keep the vehicle from experiencing what is called the "Death Wobble". After going over a few bumps the entire front end shakes as if there is a flat tire. Slowing down and pulling over remedies the problem. A driver who witnessed this pulled me over to say he thought I was going to lose my driver's wheel and suggested I keep under 35 MPH. The jeep has 20,800 miles on it. The dealership reported that each dealer can only order a small number of these parts per month as there is such a backlog. It's estimated they could order mine in March of 2024! In the meantime, they don't suggest I drive the vehicle. This is OUTRAGEOUS!
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at 53 MPH, the vehicle was uncontrollably shaking for about a minute. The contact stated that after the shaking ceased, the contact was able to drive to the destination. The contact also stated that the failure had occurred three times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a failed steering damper and the steering damper needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the part was on backorder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 32,533.
On Nov 28th 2023 while driving at approximately 70 mph on highway SR408 in Orlando the front suspension on my vehicle starting shaking violently.
My steering is very loose on my 2020 Jeep Sahara. This is a continuous issue-it has been this way since I bought it.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the vehicle started shuddering violently, the wheels were wobbling, and the steering wheel was vibrating significantly, causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle. The contact was able to regain control of the steering wheel and pull to the side of the roadway. The contact stated that she continued driving, and the vehicle operated as intended. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred 24 hours later. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the steering damper needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and a case was opened. The contact was awaiting a call back from the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 49,300.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while the vehicle was being operated, the digital screen blacked out and then showed a blue screen while shifting into reverse. The failure occurred occasionally. No warning light was illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the failure became a consistent failure. The local dealer was contacted and advised the contact to detach the negative battery cable as a temporary repair; however, the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the cost. Upon further investigation, the contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V436000 (Back Over Prevention) however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000.
I was not informed of this recall when I purchased my Jeep at the dealership. Per recall, clutch pressure plate recall. The risk is high. Is extreme risk. It may catch fire. It may cause crash. I don’t feel safe driving my vehicle. I’ve been to dealership twice and they told me there’s no solution yet. I outreached Jeep via email directly.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle abruptly stopped and failed to move. The contact stated the engine was running, but the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that her ten-year-old daughter was in the vehicle during the failure. The vehicle stopped in the middle of a busy three-lane highway. The contact stated that other drivers were honking their horns and being very rude while she was unable to move the vehicle. The local Police were called and were able to take the contact's daughter to a safe location. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with an electrical system failure and a failed computer system. In addition, the stop-and-start battery was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not assist. The contact stated that the manufacturer refused to buy the vehicle back under the vehicle buyback program. The failure mileage was approximately 102,000.
Instrument panel intermittently goes blank while driving. This has happened more than once. This is a known issue that has triggered a recall, but while I continue to check my vin for recalls, my vehicle is still not showing mine as being part of this recall.
bolts holding steering box stretching and coming loose.
At 38 months of ownership and less than 17000 miles, the vehicle gets a service shifter mil (U1267) as well as an ESS indicator. The engine starts but is unable to shift out of park. Shifter issues have been going on for years with Jeeps, it is time to fix this. Of course it is 2 months out of warrantee, so I can expect a big bill.
Driving on the highway, I traveled over a concrete expansion joint which caused my vehicle to shake violently from side to side with the steering wheel moving approximately six inches in either direction. The shake/vibration stopped after speed was reduced to under 40mph. This happened multiple times travelling the same day on the freeway. The dealership recommended replacing the steering damper with a more robust part which I did -- it wasn't covered under warranty because the original steering damper wasn't compromised but I was told with this more robust one I would probably never experience it again. This was the scariest event I've encountered in a vehicle. Reproduction of the event was not consistently repeatable. This event happed on October 30, 2023 on I-695 in Maryland.
