I almost actually died twice on a road trip when i hit uneven pavement on major interstates and had to come to a complete stop in the middle of a major highway with semi trucks swerving all around me. This jeep has the death wobble and I can't get anyone to recreate the issue to get it fixed.
There is an open Safety Recall on my vehicle with no fix. See 19A/NHTSA 23V-116. Stellantis (formerly FCA) has refused to reimburse me for aftermarket clutch replacement in the amount of $1527.10.
Aluminum body and paint bubbling and showing corrosion on doors, hood, and hinges. I called jeep but they are saying that the issue is only on the Gladiator, which is not accurate. It's also on the Wrangler Sport that I have, and they don't want to fix it. What do I do?
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, the steering wheel failed to respond while attempting to make a left or right turn. No warning light was illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V116000 (Power Train) however, the dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the failure was a known issue. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was denied the repair due to the vehicle having a Salvage Title. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that there was an abnormal burning odor, and a grinding metal sound coming from the vehicle while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact also stated that the Auto On/Off warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V116000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and provided the contact a case number. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 60,407. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Vehicle started to get extreme smell of gas fumes, interior and exterior, to the point it would make you nauseous. My vehicle was taken to a dealer where the tech noticed that a fuel pump was leaking and a fuel line behind the engine had a small hole in it and was leaking on the top and was unlikely debris hit it, to get at the line the whole motor has to get dropped. After reading the description of the fuel line/pump issues with the 2020 2.0 L, this seems that it would be related and part of the effected parts.
While traveling at highway speeds the vehicle will shake violently after driving over pavement imperfections. Most frequently this is the seem between the road and a bridge. Car is stock. The occurrence of this wobble has become more frequent as of recent.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument panel became inoperable. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V652000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
Jeep purchased in May of 2023. A few months later the Instrument Panel Cluster would go dark while driving for no reason at all. Taken to local trusted dealership to diagnose, found that the IPC needed to be replaced. Replacement performed & all costs associated were paid for by me, the vehicle owner ($748.90 in total). This issue has already been recalled for other 2020 Jeep Wranglers, as detailed in RCONL-24V652-2819. I am requesting that my Jeep be included as well.
This jeep has the dreaded "death wobble" in which the front end starts to shake violently from side to side as you are driving down the interstate, usually after hitting a pothole or beginning of a bridge. This issue also caused a malfunction of the cooling system which caused the jeep to overheat while idling or driving at cruising speeds. No warning messages have appeared other than when the jeep begins to overheat. The jeep is available for inspection.
I was driving home with my 3 kids in the car. Age 13,10,2 We were almost home and my daughter shouted from the back seat… “ there’s a fire .. there’s a fire” my self and my 13 year old son proceeded to look outside the car for a fire. We both kept saying where? My daughter then said “ right there look up” we both looked and the passenger side visor was in flames where it connects to the roof of the jeep. My son tried to blow it out but it sparked up 2 more times before he held the visor up before the fire went out completely. This was absolutely terrifying. I’m so worried my car is going to catch on fire while I am sleeping tonight. Please help
Sun visor fell down into view causing distraction while driving.
The radio keeps shutting off & resetting . Also the SERV 4WD light won’t turn off after multiple inspections by Jeep dealership technicians.
The sun visor at the attachment arm has broken twice now. When you go to move the visor while driving to block the sun which is impacting your vision, you now have a visor attachment break and visor is dangling by the wires in front of your face blocking your view and you get stunned that something has broken. There is no warning at all that is about to break. You have to immediately pull over and see if you can push it back up and get it to stay so you can have an unobstructed view. I search the web and there are many many many reports of this exact issue. The Jeep dealer fixed my visor so I thought I was good. Nope. It broke a second time 1 year later. This is going to be an ongoing potential safety issue if Jeep doesn’t fix the issue. I am concerned that I could wind up in an accident when this occurs.
Events leading up to the incident Approx 7:25pm on July 24, 2023 driving up a hill on 71/75 South, he in 6th gear, lost acceleration, downshifted to 5th gear still losing acceleration, smelled an awful burning smell, then heard a clunk sound, clutch fell to the floor. Noticed some smoke, temperature gauge normal. I had enough momentum to pull off to the right shoulder. Turned the car off, called a family member for help @ 7:28pm. About a minute later the smoke became thicker & that's when I exited the vehicle. Called 911 at exactly 7:30pm. Engulfed in flames before I got off the phone with 911. Fire department arrived @ 7:35pm. .First noticed clutch slippage on Sat July 15th, 2023. Appointment was made for July 20, 2023 but they informed me 10min prior to the appointment by text that I couldn't wait on it and they couldn't provide a loaner vehicle
The driver's side sun visor has broken at the attachment point to the frame of the vehicle, causing it to spontaneously swing out of place and obstructing the view of the roadway. There was no excessive force applied to this part, and there are numerous reports of this online from hundreds of other vehicle owners. Obstruction of the driver's view of the road could lead to a fatal accident, especially given that the obstruction can be sudden and without warning. The component has not been inspected since the defect occurred. There are no relevant warning lamps, or messages.
Rear CAmera, the screnn turn blue on i can see nothing in the back.
Randomly the check engine light will appear and the dash will display multiple messages about service needed for traction control, stability control, auto start stop disabled, service cruise control etc. Then while driving you will lose power steering and this almost caused my daughter to wreck while trying to finish a turn. Additionally when the messages appear the vehicle will not have the ability to shift so you can not reverse and once it shut off in the middle of the highway blocking traffic and almost caused multiple accidents. The dealership has replaced the battery sensor and said it was fixed. I was told to replace the primary and secondary battery to ensure it was not a battery problem and I did, however the issue still remains. Looked online for others with this issue and there are many with the exact problem. The Jeep will report the transmission temperature and oil temperature incorrectly with the gauge maxed out even if it has sat overnight. Additionally it also says to service the transmission.
I have been on multiple wait lists to have the recall correction for the HPFP, but the dealers I have contacted in the Fresno area have told me they have not received the parts to make the correction. I’ve been on these waitlists for well over a year with no updates.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V124000 (Power Train) and 23V116000 (Power Train) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
I was driving my 2020 jeep wrangler and I had a busy intersection and the engine stopped. I tried to restart the engine that did not work. I called AAA for a jump and they sent a technician and it still would not start. I had to have it towed to a local Jeep dealership. Everything electronically was flashing on the dashboard. My hazard lights would work on and off. The wipers started going, and I could not get the Jeep out of the park. After 2 1/2 hours in this busy intersection, the tow truck appeared. The vehicle is in the shop right now, and there was no warnings or messages that appeared.
I stopped to fill up with gas and when I started my Jeep all my instruments are dead. No speedometer no tachometer no fuel no temp. Everything else works fine. I checked all fuses and they are good. I also replaced my auxiliary battery and still everything is dead.
my jeeps (2020 4door wrangler unlimited sport JL) VIN does not come back to any recalls on the NHTSA but it has the old aluminum steering gear part# (P68250506AE) and needs to be replaced by the new part# (68507569AA) and a EHPS software eopdate per TSB 08-003-21 REV. A. some dealers are not honoring the TSB if the VIN does not come back to a recall. this issues causes unsafe steering wander and lead pull left to right. I think the dealers should be notified that there are still jeeps with the aluminum steering gear that does not show up on recalls.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while his son was driving approximately 35 MPH, he turned on the air conditioning and the blower filled the cabin with a gasoline odor. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated was made aware of the issue by his son. The contact checked underneath the vehicle and became aware that there was a fuel leak running down the length of the fuel supply line and was dripping on the driveway. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer; however, the contact called the dealer and was informed there were no available appointments for two months. The vehicle had not been repaired and had not been driven. The contact researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V665000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 32,500.
Multiple areas of my jeep are starting to rusting and corroding. Jeep knows there are issues and are doing nothing about it. Not only is it unsightly but rust also compromises the structural integrity of the body of the vehicle.
2020 Jeep Rubicon - wife was driving 60 mph on highway, went over a small bump and the steering wheel began shaking violently causing her to lose control. She was able to gain control and get to the side of the road, almost getting hit by several vehicles. She turned the Jeep off and restarted. She began traveling again, going slower this time, and it didn't happen again for about 30 minutes. She again went over a small bump (the dividers in the road where it switches to a bridge) and it began to shake bad again. I read online that this is a known problem. This is not safe. She could have been hit, or she could have hit someone. She is so terrified, she will no longer drive the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Jeep caught fire by passenger visor
After having the steering damper replaced for the death wobble on my 2020 Jeep Wrangler, a week later I was driving my jeep down the road and the vehicle stalled out on me. The auto start/stop light turned on and the car stalled out in the middle of a busy roadway in drive and would not go into park. After getting it into park, several lights turned on my dash, including “service power steering” and “service electronic stability control. My shifter lights all began flashing at once and my windshield wipers began to go while they were turned off. The vehicle would also not go into N and after finally getting it into neutral, we had to hold the emergency neutral pull while steering across 4 lanes of a busy roadway. This is now the second major safety issue (1st is death wobble) i’ve had with my jeep and no recalls have been issued. My car is at 42k miles and a lease, these cars should not be having these issues so early! It has now been at Jeep for a week and they have yet to look at the vehicle and keep giving me the run down of “we haven’t been able to look at your vehicle but it doesn’t look good” Jeeps seem to have major safety issues lately.
I have had to replace 2 steering dampers in my 2020 Jeep Wrangler that has only 24,000 miles. Whenever the vehicle reaches speeds over 50 mph the steering becomes very loose, needing to constantly steer left and right. If there is any change to the road surface such as a bridge, uneven pavement or bump in road, vehicle loses control in steering making the need for you to come to a stop to regain control.
Front suspension steering damper defect
Driving approx 35 mph, hit an uneven surface on the road and experienced extreme shaking that transfered to the steering, resulting is loss of ability to steer until vehicle came to a complete stop.
I am having a stalling issue when driving down the road. its not a constant issue but will occasionally stall/stop accelerating. you will have to let off the pedal and push down again. it will gain power back right after and be fine. believe it possibly a fuel pump issue or tps problem.
I just purchased my 4th Wrangler last month from a dealership - a 2020 Certified Pre-Owned Unlimited Sport Willys 2.0L with Automatic transmission. Within the first days, I noticed odor of fuel or exhaust that would be more obvious some times than others, and not constantly strong or apparent. At first I thought maybe it was from being in garage at dealer and something on a mat, but then it continued and was more apparent if I had the windows closed and the heat on. Called the dealer two weeks ago and got an appointment to have it checked this past Friday. First I was told I’m probably not used to it if it’s my first “turbo” (which made no sense), then they came back to tell me it’s probably dirty air filters (which they should’ve checked/changed when they inspected it before selling it because it was at 31,200mi). Then they decided to take it for a ride and, lo and behold, they smelled what I have been smelling. They put it back on the lift to look again. Diagnosis: Fuel leak from the connector to the high pressure fuel line. I see there were some JLs with 2.0L manufactured the same year recalled for this, but they insisted mine wasn’t. Search online confirms it’s not included in the recall. I had no luck getting anywhere when I called Jeep customer service either. The dealer wants to charge me my extended warranty deductible when I haven’t even made my first payment on it yet. (According to vehicle records, 3 years for manufacturer warranty was up Nov 2022, and it has less than 32,500mi.) They insisted they keep it while waiting for the part for repair because it’s unsafe to drive, and put me in a rental (which they told me they didn’t have available when I asked for the appointment). I think this is clearly a safety issue consistent with other recalls for this model and should be repaired at no cost to me. Perhaps the initial recall didn’t include all the vehicles it should have.
Safety Risk Heated debris expelled from the transmission bellhousing may come in contact with an ignition source in the vehicle or surrounding area, potentially leading to a fire. A fire can result in increased risk of occupant injury and injury to persons outside the vehicle. THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO PARTS AVAILABLE TO FIX THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION AND NO INFORMATION WHEN THEY WILL BE AVAILABLE.
I was driving my vehicle on the expressway and a dash light with an “A” and a circle came on. My car began to slow down on its own and would not allow me to accelerate. I managed to coast off the expressway to an exit. I immediately smelled gas and my eyes began to burn. I tried to restart my car but it was sputtering. I checked under the hood and the car smelled like strong gas. After this my eyes were burning as if someone sprayed pepper spray in them. I had get assistance to get a tow. I went to a nearby urgent care to get my eyes checked out because after all of this they were blood shot red….I see that some 2020 2.0L Jeeps have a fuel line recall but my recall isn’t showing up. This vehicle should definitely have a recall. I also have issues with my radio saying “overheating” then the volume goes out and the radio shuts off.
I just purchased the car on Jan 31, 2022 from the jeep dealership (46,000 miles). When driving, it has very loose steering. I can move the wheel left and right and the car stays straight. I was told by the dealer that that was normal. At highway speeds, it is very difficult to maintain a straight direction and I am constantly adjusting the wheel. When holding the wheel center, it drifts left or right. If I hit a bump the car moves. At times if feels like I don't have control of the vehicle. This is not safe to operate on the highway.
My engine cut off without warning at a very busy intersection. I was stuck in busy traffic. I could not get it restarted or out of park. (I am a resident of Altavista, Va. 24517 This incident occurred in South Boston, Va.,approx. 40-45 miles from where I live.) A South Boston Policeman stopped and a fire dept. employee offered their assistance (and were very helpful). They were almost hit by cars several times from each side. I knew I had to get the vehicle out of the middle of the street, so I asked the policeman to call a local garage to send a rollback (tow truck) to get it out of the street and the dangerous traffic. The local garage was equipped with a machine that showed what was wrong, The final settings had to be made by a Jeep dealer. The garage took it to a Jeep dealer in Henderson, NC. (approx. 44 miles from South Boston, Va). Personal in the service department informed us said that they had know this to happen before. The Jeep has a primary and secondary battery (the stop and go system). I understand that if the primary battery goes dead without warning, the secondary battery tries to pick up the entire electrical load and the smaller battery cannot handle it and it destroys the fuse block. Both batteries and the fuse block had to be replaced. I was without a car for approx. two weeks, and a great deal of expense ($1,391.64). I am now wondering if and when it will happen again.
My 2020 Jeep is on its 3rd clutch recall however this recall is now over half a year old with no resolution in sight. The risk is a catastrophic failure of the powertrain, fire, and death. We cannot sell our cars due to the open recall and we have been given no updates on any solution. I'm not sure how a manufacturer can have cars on the road that may or may not catch fire at any time and have no solution available. I think Jeep should either fix the issue, recall the cars and offer buy backs, or pay for 3rd party clutch replacements and allow us to close the recall once those are installed. I'm hoping NHTSA or someone can force a solution here.
When driving on a highway over 50 miles and you hit uneven road surface or a bump, it shakes terribly to the point you feel you have no control. Does not show any recall but there are a lot of people with the same vehicle and same problem.
Stellantis, formerly FCA, formerly Chrysler issued Recall no. 19A nearly a year ago (NHTSA Recall Number 23V-116) and still does not have a remedy for my Jeep. Because this is a dangerously defect design in the clutch system that has caused vehicle fires, I have elected to pursue an aftermarket clutch system, the Centerforce II. Once I have this installed, how do I go about having Recall 19A/23v-116 cleared to show that my vehicle has been repaired?
While driving at highway speeds we hit a bump in the road and the vehicle started to vibrate excessively in the front end of the vehicle. After slowing to 40 mph the vibration stopped. We weee able to speed up again to highway speeds but hit another bump 10 miles down the road and experienced another vibration/shimmy. This was not the first time.
I have what they call the "Death Wobble" Jeep will not pay for the issue because I have 36,000 on 2020. I was going 70mph and hit a small bump and it started shaking my steering wheel. I had to stop for the shaking to stop.
Engine revved at 5000RPM would not switch from 1st gear. Now engine is showing a cylinder misfire which is moving from Cyln. 4 to Cyln 3 and so on.

Hi, my name is [XXX] and I have a 2020 Jeep Wrangler unlimited, I bought this car on July of 2021 and I started to have problems on October of 2022 the car was shaking but it wasn’t that bad, but on Nov of 2022 I was traveling from Phoenix to Nogales AZ driving at approximately 75m/h and the car started to shake really bad I almost lost control of the car it felt like the car was gonna fall apart, I had my daughter with me she’s traumatized she has Down syndrome she doesn’t like getting in the car no more and I don’t blame her, so once I was back to Phoenix I went to the Jeep dealership and they told me it was a problem with the steering wheel and that they have to order the part, I waited close to 3 months and they didn’t have the part, on Feb 20 2023 I had a car accident caused by the death wobble, I was driving on the freeway at approximately 60m/h and on a little bump the car started to wobble really bad that I lost control of it and hit the median cable barriers and damaged the front of the car I got really traumatized and got a ticket that day, I tried to talk with the Jeep company and they said that the car wasn’t cover by the warranty no more. I missed work that day and my car for like 2 months until it was completely fixed, this is a very danger situation people can loose their life with this problem. The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 50 MPH, the service shifter warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but no cause for the failure was found. On another occasion while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle lost power steering functionality with the service shifter warning light illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 35,000.
2020 Jeep Wrangler under warranty, vehicle is having a violent shake / wobble occurring randomly and often on curves, driving over slight bumps with speeds over 50 mph. numerous occurrences. Brought to dealer and diagnosed from dealer after inspection with steering damper not holding resistance and severely affecting stabilization. Stated this is an identified issue with certain Jeeps and they are very aware and seeing more recent problems brought in and reported . Part for fix IS NOT AVAILABLE at this time from Jeep manufacturer and owner was put on waiting list. Vehicle is dangerous and unstable to drive with no options given at this time. This is a major safety issue for myself the driver and those on the road as when this happens there is NO control of the steering mechanism. It was NOT recommended by the dealer NOR the manufacturer when I contactd JEEP corporate to park the car and not drive.Basically was told to wait and see if a fix is suggested at a later date.
Sun visor broke at the point where it attaches to the roof pillar causing the visor to fall in front of my face and block my vision while driving at highway speed.
