NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2022 Jeep Wrangler. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
My Jeep Wrangler 4xe has now been subject to multiple high-voltage battery fire-risk recalls, including the current recall that instructs owners to park outside due to a potential battery fire. This is the third recall involving the same system. The vehicle is unsafe, and Jeep/Stellantis has no permanent remedy available. I have been unable to use the vehicle safely for extended periods, and I have been given conflicting information by the dealership and manufacturer about the timeline for a fix. This creates a significant fire hazard to my property and family. Because of the repeated nature of the defect, Jeep is refusing to provide a timely resolution or a vehicle replacement/lease termination. I am requesting NHTSA intervention due to: – Multiple recalls for the same battery fire risk – Lack of an available repair or remedy – Manufacturer failing to provide safe use of the vehicle – Ongoing safety danger that forces me to park the vehicle away from structures This is a serious safety defect involving the high-voltage battery pack that could result in a vehicle fire while parked or driving. I am requesting NHTSA investigate this issue and compel the manufacturer to provide a safe and immediate resolution for affected Wrangler 4xe owners. Symptoms observed: – Vehicle subject to multiple “park outside” fire-related recalls – Battery-related warnings – Loss of use of the vehicle – Safety risk to home/garage due to fire potential – No fix or parts available – Ongoing manufacturer delays What I am requesting: – NHTSA review of repeated 4xe battery recalls – Enforcement of a timely repair or mandatory buyback/lease release – Confirmation whether Jeep is compliant with recall remedy obligations
Electronic Cabin Heater- EV/ Hybrid component that acts as a heating element when driving in electric mode. Common issue since the Chrysler Pacifica eHybrid plug in vehicle was manufactured. Safety: Extreme temperatures we’ve experienced would prevent heat from dispersing in the engine cabin and potential damage to engine/ EV components due to no thermal regulation. Has been reproduced and replaced. Specific to Jeep Wrangler 4xe (2021+): “Electric mode unavailable; Cabin heating/cooling” Check Engine light with DTC codes P0E80-00 and P0E15-00 present on dash. First appeared October 31st, 2025.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 25V741000 (Electrical System). The contact was in contact with the local dealer and the manufacturer, and was advised that the part for the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that prior to receiving the recall notice, the contact had been charging the vehicle, and a thermal event occurred, resulting in the charger melting. The contact stated that the dealer replaced the charger, and because of the recall, the contact had not charged the vehicle since the failure had occurred.
My vehicle, a 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is subject to Recall 25V-741. This recall involves a serious safety defect with vehicle’s charging system, posing I fire risk when charged. This renders the vehicle unsafe to operate. At this time, there is no available repair remedy. While the official Jeep Mopar website states that repairs parts are available but the Jeep dealership states they don't have repairs available for my vehicle. I have called two different dealerships one month apart and still received the same answer. As a result of this recall, I am unable to drive or reasonably use the vehicle. The vehicle is effectively inoperable, and I am incurring ongoing financial harm, including loan payments and loss-of-use expenses, for a vehicle that cannot be safely driven. I purchased the vehicle in good faith, and shortly after purchase learned of the open recall. Stellantis has not provided a repair timeline or alternative resolution. This situation leaves me without safe transportation and no practical remedy.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and occupied, and attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond as intended. The contact stated that while attempting to depress the brake pedal at a stop light, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. Several warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the residence. The next morning, the vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed and determined that the battery needed to be replaced. The battery was replaced. The contact stated that the battery was charged to 80 percent. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,265.
For second time the JEEP shut down and (stop) in the middle of a higthly trafic street without any warning. I feel risk for my life, my mother and my 9 year old child.
The steering and suspension suddenly vibrated the whole car violently for over two miles straight, steering is uncontrollable it feels as if the wheels of the jeep were going to fall off. This is well known in the Jeep community as the death wobble. It is a safety issue as there is a loss of control of the car and causes the need to pull over or stop immediately which is hard to do on a fast moving interstate or highway like in my case.
The contact leased a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the hybrid battery became inoperable, and the regular battery failed to operate properly. While driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel was wobbling. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated and were turning on and off. The vehicle failed to start after an hour but eventually restarted. The contact stated that the failure was related to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V787000 (Electrical System). The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with a malfunctioning hybrid battery. The regular batter was also inoperable. The contact stated that a software update was completed. The vehicle was partially repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
10/14/2025 approximately 0745 CST I had just exited off a 70mph state hwy on my normal route to work. My 2022 Wrangler 4xe seemed to “glitch” and loose power, no systems available and then kicked back on but in lower gear. I am current on all recalls and service. Currently mileage is just under 30,000.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle started losing motive power. The contact depressed the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. The contact stated that the message "Performance Issue" was displayed, and a red light was illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove the vehicle to a local dealer. The dealer was unable to diagnose the vehicle, and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The contact stated that months prior to the failure, the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V720000 (Electrical System) by the same dealer. The contact related the failure to the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
Over the last 45 days, my Jeep has suffered repeated breakdowns that required towing to the Jeep dealership—It is now the fourth tow in this short window for the same issue. On November 10th, I was informed it was a wiring harness issue. On November 17th, they completed the work with the wiring harness and mentioned that now shifter assembly now has internal failure. Respectfully, this situation is unacceptable. Particularly for a critical component that renders the vehicle inoperable and raises significant safety concerns. This issue is especially troubling given that I have young children and rely on this vehicle for our daily transportation, and has stopped me in the middle of the road multiple times. Timeline: October 7th, 2025: Service Electronic Stability Control signal - Vehicle disabled on road; Towed to my home October 8th, 2025: Second Service Electronic Stability Control signal- Vehicle is again inoperable - Towed to Jeep Dealer October 9th, 2025: Third Service Electronic Stability Control signal pops up and disappears. October 15th, 2025: Fourth Service Electronic Stability Control signal - Vehicle is again inoperable - Towed to Jeep Dealership November 8th, 2025: Fifth Service Electronic Stability Control signal - Vehicle picked up by Jeep Dealership November 17th 2025: Notified by the service advisor that Service Shifter came on after completing work with the wiring harness. This is a huge safety concern that needs immediate investigation, and the manufacture needs to be help liable for these rescue ring issues.
Turtle mode was activated for the 5th time on my Jeep while driving on the highway. Was in traffic at the time and was beginning acceleration when it went into turtle mode. I was able to SLOWLY go across 1 lane of traffic to pull over. I was able to pull over. While I was on the shoulder the turtle mode went away and I was able to resume my drive. If I have been going the speed limit when this happened I and other could have been severely injured if my car suddenly lost power.
Loss of Motive Power - will be driving on the interstate and the car will suddenly go into turtle mode with no warning and the car will abruptly slow down to a slow crawl. Took to dealer they could not find a diagnostic code so in their mind there is nothing to fix (currently still at dealer). This has happened to me 4 times.
Car shut down on [XXX] and would not start. Indicated problem with charging system. Vehicle is currently in Cabo San Lucas, BCS, Mexico. Towed car to local Jeep dealer. Car had outstanding recall (ZB7 2021-2023 JL 4XE Loss of Motive Power). Dealer diagnosed issues as a failure of the battery, so that was replaced, along with software updates to address the recalls. We had to pay over $900 out of pocket for these repairs, and it stayed with the dealer for 3.5 weeks. Two days later the vehicle is again failing with the same issues and will not start. It began with the check engine light coming on, then A/C stopped cooling, then the car only would stay in hybrid mode, and the transmission was revving. After stopping the car and shutting it off it will not restart. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
On August 12, 2025, the brakes on my 2022 Jeep Wrangler failed and resulted in a low speed collision. Brakes were being applied to stop for a traffic light and when I realized the vehicle was not stopping I pushed pedal to floor twice to try and stop vehicle. After the accident the vehicle was towed to Tate Jeep dealership who could not duplicate the incident or identify why pressure in brake line dropped. Air bags did not deploy.
While driving to an appointment on 11 August 2025 the yellow CEL light came on and the Jeep Wrangler 4xe stopped operating in hybrid mode. A few miles later the Jeep went into limp mode with a red turtle, red wrench, and red battery light. Pulled into the left center turn lane to allow faster traffic to pass and then made a left turn off of a busy 4-lane highway. I then proceeded down the hill and at the next traffic light I was turning right when the Jeep stopped and the gas engine completely shut down and the Jeep stopped moving halfway through the intersection. Putting the vehicle in park, I attempted to restart the vehicle while it sat in the middle of the intersection but it wouldn’t restart. I then turned on my flashers and exited the vehicle so I could call a tow truck. After the vehicle was towed to the nearest Jeep dealership I learned two days later that the hybrid battery pack had failed and it needed to be replaced. As of 18 September and the vehicle is still at the dealership awaiting authorization from the Jeep engineering team so the technician at the dealership can order a special part!
I’m writing to ask for you all to honor the recall for my jeep. I purchased a 2022 Jeep Wrangler in April of 2025 Months after the purchase I began to notice that on certain road conditions that my vehicle would shake violently back and forth at higher speeds if I hit a bump. As you can tell this causes great concern for mine and my children's well being. My teen son is also driving my vehicle which is also a concern. I've had it looked at by multiple shops who all state that the vehicle has a recall on the steering damper as it can create a death wobble. I attempted to take it to the Jeep dealership in Boulder, CO who refused to look at it stating my jeep doesnt count. However the mechanic and online states that it will honor any jeep that appears to have this issue to be looked at and fixed as you all were sued and claimed to have fixed the problem yet it still continues, and Jeep offers this as an extended offer for all jeeps. Jeep is refusing to honor the extended recall. So I am filing a complaint to get this fixed as this issue is not of my doing, not wear and tear.
I was traveling at 80mph on an interstate in the fast lane. There were only two lanes. Road was straight with a slight incline. Temperature was 98 degrees. I had been traveling for 10 hours that day. I hear the same bing chime the Jeep makes when it switches from electric to hybrid mode. I was already in hybrid mode and I experienced a lost of power. My vehicle started to coast which it never does because the regenerative breaks always slow me down. I noticed a message on my display but I could not read it as I used the momentum I had to reach the shoulder of the slow lane and coast to a stop. I put the car in park. The message was gone. A few seconds after putting the vehicle in park, it restarted and behaved normally again. This happened one day after being serviced at the dealer. I have all recalls completed including one that covers this issue. I took the Jeep in to be checked and they were unable to read codes or detect any issues.
Rear window defrost The defrost mechanism has become detached on most Jeeps making it unable to defrost the rear window for visability. has Not inspected by manufacturer or any other rep. No warning prior to failure 7/28/25 When I was trying to defrost my window due to fog.
Subject: Urgent Safety Complaint Regarding Jeep with Death Wobble – Purchased from Maxon Buick GMC, Union, NJ Dear NHTSA, I am writing to report a serious safety issue involving a Jeep SUV I purchased for my son on [XXX], from Maxon Buick GMC located in Union, New Jersey. The vehicle was purchased for over $30,000, and within the first day of driving, my son began experiencing what is commonly referred to as the "Death Wobble." This violent shaking occurs unexpectedly while driving and has been happening every day since the vehicle was purchased. After doing some research, we learned that the “Death Wobble” is a known issue with certain Jeep models, and the symptoms are consistent with what my son has experienced. It is extremely frightening and dangerous, and I am deeply concerned for his safety and the safety of others on the road. I do not understand how a dealership is allowed to sell a vehicle in this condition. Selling a vehicle with such a potentially deadly defect is both irresponsible and unethical. This issue must be investigated and addressed immediately to prevent further risk to drivers and passengers. Please consider this an urgent request to look into this matter. I would appreciate confirmation of this complaint and any information on what steps will be taken to hold the dealership and manufacturer accountable. I HAVE VIDEO WHILE IT'S HAPPENING BUT UNABLE TO UPLOAD FOR SOME REASON Thank you for your time and attention to this critical safety issue. Sincerely, [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V720000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was contacted, and it was confirmed that the part was not yet available. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact stated while driving approximately 25 MPH, the vehicle experienced an electrical failure and stalled. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the HV Battery had failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was informed that the part was on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 34,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
My Jeep Wrangler has an internal short in the instrument cluster. Recall campaign # 24V652000, diagnosed by Beck Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge in Palatka, FL. The Jeep instrument panel quit functioning completely on Monday [XXX] around [XXX] a.m with no prior warnings, warning lights or related failures. However, my Vin # is not showing up in the recall, but has the same reported failure as the recall notice. The Jeep dealership confirmed the instrument panel internal short on the same day as the failure, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Due to the track bar, steering damper and struts failing after less than 28k miles, the jeep is now exhibiting the previously investigated "Death wobble" causing a dangerous driving condition when exceeding 55mph. While driving, the vehicle began to shake so violently causing me to almost lose control and drive into oncoming traffic. The only way to stop the shaking was to have to stop suddenly on a 2 lane road and pull off on to a very dangerous shoulder. After taking the vehicle to the selling dealership, I was informed that although I am within the warranty limits for mileage I have passed the time frame for them to be able to cover the repair costs. The service advisor did agree that it is a known issue with Jeeps and that I was just "unlucky enough to get a bad jeep". There were no warning lights, symptoms or any other possible warnings prior to the first occurrence in June of 2025.
The vehicle experienced multiple serious fuel system failures, including a failed fuel injector and high-pressure fuel pump. After these components were replaced, it was confirmed that fuel was still entering the engine crankcase. At no point did the vehicle trigger a “Check Engine” light, oil dilution warning, low oil pressure alert, or any hybrid/electric powertrain. This represents a critical safety & reliability issue. Fuel dilution of engine oil can: severely degrade lubrication, increase crankcase pressure, and/or lead to internal engine failure or fire The lack of any warning or diagnostic code suggests either: a software calibration issue in the ECM/BCM that failed to detect the problem, a sensor failure, and/or a defect in the onboard diagnostic system itself. This could indicate a broader defect affecting the safety of the 4xe platform and request investigation. This failure delayed necessary service and put both vehicle and occupants at risk.
The car started to shake uncontrollably at highway speed without warning. Steering was very difficult. It was difficult to even see out of the vehicle due to extreme shaking. The car is going to the dealer to be examined. This is a low mileage daily driver, completely stock, with no modifications.
I was almost killed when my Jeep did the death wobble at 70 mph on the freeway. It violently shook out of control while I was in the fast lane of the freeway without warning. I had no control over the steering wheel, and it was pulling me towards the freeway wall. Slowing the car down was very difficult because it was jerking around so violently. I got off the freeway very slowly with my hazards on. A pickup truck followed me off the freeway to make sure I was ok. He said the tires were going crazy, and everybody saw it. It was an 18 wheeler next to me, and I could have died. I only have abt 30,000 miles. Now I’m selling it, because I’m terrified. I live in Michigan, if there was snow or ice it definitely would have been tragic. It’s in the shop under warranty, but jeep dealership telegraph rd in Southfield said something was bent and it was my fault why it went out of control. But whatever is bent, got bent from the violent shaking. I didn’t even hit anything. This happened on Thursday on the way to work, when I first got on the freeway it shook a little, and I was getting ready to pull over, then it stopped. 5 mins later that’s when the death wobble occurred. I took it to Jeep around a year ago when it was shaking. They said it didn’t do it, and nothing was wrong.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the transmission failed to properly engage. The contact was able to move the gear shift lever from park(P) to reverse(R), however, the transmission failed to respond as intended. The gear indicator flashed on the instrument panel. The contact turned off the vehicle and waited for several minutes before restarting the vehicle, and the transmission responded as needed. The contact stated that on other occasions, after the vehicle was stopped at a traffic light or stop sign, the vehicle failed to accelerate as intended while depressing the accelerator pedal. The message “Service Transmission” was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to a transmission specialty shop, where it was diagnosed, and DTC: P0733 was retrieved. The contact was informed that the failure was with the third gear in the transmission. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was driven to the dealer to be diagnosed; however, the vehicle remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin: 21-009-25. The manufacturer suggested that the vehicle be taken to the dealer for an inspection, and depending on the findings, the manufacturer might assist with the cost of the repair. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
DEATH WOBBLE. While driving at freeway speeds hitting a road bump my Jeep went into a severe uncontrollable shaking wherein the entire car was moving sideways and in an up and down motion. i did some research online and found this condition to be a common Jeep Wrangler problem. i brought the car to the dealer and they said it is a known problem with the steering damper. In my research online, many believe the problem is the tie rod, drag link and ball joints are the cause and the steering damper just masks the symptoms until it wears out. i had a third party off road repair shop look at the suspension parts and they noted the drag link had play within the bushings and recommended it be replaced. Upon not visit to the dealer, i asked them to check it out and they said everything was fine except the steering damper was bad. I had the replace the steering damper. I am still getting a shaking vibration at freeway speeds while hitting a bump in the road. it is not as severe but it definitely shakes the steering wheel and the vehicle enough to be concerned that something is wrong with the suspension. If you search DEATH WOBBLE you will find the exact condition i am experiencing. Jeep says everything is okay with the vehicle and yet I am still experiencing a vibration. my warranty expires 5/29/25. thank you [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Was driving to work and the car failed to let me know I was going to hit something and I swerved into another lane creating a crash into a telephone pole and then into a pond/swamp area. The airbags did not deploy and I was going about 40 mph I suffered neck back and bruises to my arms. I am suffering servers neck pain. The car filled with water. The car did say it detected a crash but no air bags deployed after the telephone being straight in the middle. The car was totaled. Nothing appeared. No warning signs. I believe the car has been taken to salvage. If I had the air bags go off I would not have been hurt as bad with my neck back and arm pain. It was thrown violently
See attached document for complaint. Excerpt from attachment: I received a letter from the FCA FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES an according to the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety act that letter stated: "FCA US LLC had decided that certain 2022 Jeep Wrangler vehicle equipped with a 3.5" Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) failed to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVS) No.101-Controls and displays" Safety recall 30B/NHTSA 24V -652 February 2025 I called the FCA Recall Assistance center at 1-800-853-1403. The agent told me the part was available. So, I made an appointment through them and to brought my Jeep into the San Diego Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram San Diego, CA, but about an hour later I received a phone call the "mechanics" said that they did not have the part(s) for this issue to be repaired. We went back to retrieve my 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sport Sand was told that they could keep the car due to needing the latest mileage on my Jeep, before they even could order the parts or whatever to fix it. Note my instrumental panel seem to be working fine. But According to that Jeep "mechanic" it still had to be replaced. I can't afford to leave my Jeep there waiting for some part(s) to be ordered. The mechanics can't say when the parts would be available for the repair to be done. It could be a week, it could be a month, it could be a year, they can't say. But they never told me if they are ordering any parts without keeping my Jeep there gathering dust waiting for something to happen. The "mechanics" aren't going to charge me, that is what they said. But the part about not getting it done in a reasonable time due to not having the parts and wanting me to leave the Jeep there to what? Gather dust? Service dealer at San Diego Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram 777 [XXX] , San Diego, CA92108 My vehicle is a 2022 Red 4 Door Jeep Wrangler Sport S Vin# [XXX] I paid over 50,000 USD for that 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sports S and this issue can't be solves? I would like an answer as to why my Jeep needs to be left with the service dealership before even ordering the part(s). I have enclosed the letter I received from the FCA FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES Which in the letter states that, "To do this, you dealer will replace the IPC. The estimated repair time is 2 days for the new IPC to be programmed with current mileage and delivered to the dealership." But the I was told the parts were not in stock and they did not know where it would be available to take care of the issue. Nothing was said about whether parts were available it could be a couple of days for the Jeep to be repaired. Please note that the Jeep first POC is XXXX XXXX, but I am also on the contract/payments and the Jeep is registered in both of our names. But I am the primary driver of the 2022 Jeep. The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving on the highway at 65 MPH and driving over a pothole, the vehicle started violent shake and the steering wheel seized. The contact pulled over, came to a complete stop and was able to continue driving. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the shocks were leaking hydraulic fluid, and the steering damper was faulty. The contact was informed that the shocks needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 23,500.
Once you get over 60 mph the car starts to shake and wobble bad feels like jeep is going to fall apart took to jeep dealer after calling 800-jeep first agent acted like never heard of it then finally confessed it’s referred to as death wobble I will not even ride my kid in jeep going on highway it’s that’s unsafe jeep said it tightened up parts but one week later still happens can’t afford to keep taking jeep in and paying to have the tighten something and week later same thing i am stuck owe money on car
At highway speeds my vehicle surges fairly violently, creating a safety hazard and limiting movement in traffic. Talk to the JEEP corporate office and they said there’s a number of technical service bulletins on this issue, but there’s not been enough to calls a recall, but they did state. It was a known issue. This is very dangerous..
The instrument cluster is not working. On March 25 2025 during driving the cluster started to malfunction by turning on and off and then few seconds later it was off. Once the cluster is off there is no visual assessment of how fast the car is moving, any alarms, temperature, fuel gauge, non of the gauges work. Took car to an electrical car repair shop since this is a safety issue and they found that there was a cluster recall on 2022 wrangler sport jeeps so no repairs was done to the car. The dealer was called and under the VIN inquiry I was informed that there was no instrument cluster recall. My question is since there is evidence in several www literature of Jeep Wrangler recalls due to instrument cluster why then our instrument cluster not part of a recall
Vehicle Make/Model/Year: 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Component Affected: Steering / Suspension or wheels not sure Mileage at First Incident: 30000 approx Odometer Now: 33150 approx Complaint Summary: My 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe has experienced repeated incidents of "death wobble" and uncontrolable shake , where the steering wheel shakes violently and the vehicle becomes difficult to control. Both my husband and I have experienced this issue multiple times, often after hitting small bumps or uneven pavement also in the highway when at speeds over 60 mph. We have taken the vehicle to the dealership twice, ( this is after "fixing this issue twice supposely) explained the issue in detail, and requested a thorough inspection. Despite this, the vehicle was returned to us both times with no resolution, and the dealership stated they could not recreate the issue. We later confirmed with Jeep Customer Care that the service center did not open a STAR case as requested, and the original case was closed without resolution. This issue is intermittent, which is well-known with death wobble cases, yet no action has been taken to investigate or repair the root cause. This raises serious concerns about driver and passenger safety. The issue is ongoing, and we have now had to reopen the case with Jeep and escalate the matter ourselves. We have also discovered inconsistencies with other service claims. For example, the dealership claimed the battery was replaced during a previous visit, yet the physical battery under the seat has a sticker showing the same manufacturing date as the original, raising doubts that it was actually replaced. This is a dangerous, unresolved issue affecting the safety of our vehicle, and we are seeking accountability and formal investigation through the proper channels.
I received a safety warning about my air bags specifically via my Jeep app on my iPhone about 1 1/2 hours after I had been rear-ended in a motor vehicle accident. The rear-end impact pushed me into a van in front of me. The safety notice notified me to take my 2022 Jeep in to have the air bags checked. There were no prior warnings. I am concerned as to whether or not the air bags should have employed upon impact. My seatbelt did totally lock into place after impact, but the air bags did not activate. My vehicle is currently still being repaired at a collision service, per the direction of my auto insurance carrier.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Hybrid. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 24V720000 (Electrical System); however, the contact was advised that the repairs were not sufficient to fix the vehicle. The vehicle was serviced under the recall remedy however, the failure recurred on three separate occasions. The dealer advised the contact that she would have to pay out of pocket for a new battery due to the tire not being original equipment. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. The VIN was not available.
Our Jeep has the Death Wobble and its been to the dealership twice. First trip, they had us replace the front shocks and the steering stabilizer/damper. Did not help at all. Now they are saying we should try a Tru-Center Stabilizer, by looking on the web, they think that will fix it. Really don't want or think we should have to keep tossing parts and money into this, hoping it might fix it. Right now we are afraid to drive it on the interstate. Its starts to shake so bad when we switch lanes on the interstate, it almost makes you want to hit the brakes. Traveling on an interstate is not a safe place to hit the brakes to stop the wobble or a place to have a car go out of control. Jeep is a 2022 Wrangler unlimited with 44000 miles on it. Stock suspension, no lift kit, stock wheels and tires.
This is a 2022 Jeep wrangler sport with 40K miles on it. It was bought brand new. We are experiencing what is called the "Death Wobble" where the suspension parts give out and create a severe wobble in the front suspension and steering of the vehicle at highway speeds. The 2019 Jeep had a recall on this problem as well.
There’s seems to be an issue with these transmissions. They are leaking oil from the casing and could potentially run dry and have major transmission failure.
There is lack of information on how to file a complaint for a dealer not repairing a recall in a timely manner on this website. This complaint is in regards to the safety recall on my Jeep 4XE- Recall 95B/NHTSA 24V-720. I made an appointment for this recall and took it to Franklin Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Franklin TN. They have had my Jeep for 2 days working on this recall. The letter I received said this would take 2 hours. They refused to provide me with a loaner/rental car and instead shuttled me home and left me without a vehicle for 2 days now. This is unacceptable.
When driving over 65 miles per hour you lose control of steering - known as the death wobble.
My 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 4xe vehicle is unsafe, and I fear driving it could cause death or serious bodily injury. The vehicle turns off intermittently and displays "service electrical charging system." The 4xe recalls 95B/NHTSA 24V-720 and especially, recall ZB7/NHTSA 22V-865 have not been properly repaired and completely resolved. This is a serious and potentially dangerous defect. This Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe unexpectedly turns off while driving, it has turned off on me while driving on the freeway, regular streets and has left me stranded in dangerous predicaments. Starting the vehicle is also unpredictable, sometimes it starts and sometimes it does not. This is especially terrifying when it spontaneously shut off while driving. I no longer can safely operate this vehicle without placing myself, my family and others in peril, and as a result I have had to purchase a new vehicle. Vehicle engine shuts down condition caused by diagnostic reactions to faults caused by loss of communication. Recall ZB7/NHTSA 22V-865 is still occurring to my 2022 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited 4xe, an engine shut down condition results in an unexpected loss of motive power while driving, which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning.
The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that on three separate occasions while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked upon depression of the accelerator pedal with a message to "Service Transmission Continue in D - Do Not Shift or Turn Engine Off" was displayed on the instrument panel. On the first failure, the contact was able to drive the vehicle to Galeana Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (14375 S Tamiami Trl, Fort Myers, FL 33912); however, the contact was informed that the dealer would not honor warranty. The vehicle was taken to another dealer and the body control module was replaced. The failure returned months later while the contact was out of town and the vehicle was towed cross country on the contact's trailer back to the dealer. The contact was informed on the visit that the transmission control module was defective and the TCM was replaced; however, the failure returned months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where it remained. The dealer reached out to the manufacturer while the contact waited for a decision from the manufacturer. The vehicle was not yet repaired and remained with the dealer. The failure mileage was 2,132.
This vehicle has been towed to the dealership 4 times for ongoing transmission errors and has caused the vehicle to shut off in traffic on 3 separate occasions, putting myself and those around me in immediate danger. The vehicle has actually rolled backwards in traffic on 1 occasion, without giving me the ability to stop it initially because the brakes and gear shift were locked up. The vehicle has also been repaired for a multicylinder engine failure early on as well. The vehicle is now showing issues with the battery wiring and has been repaired several times regarding this as well.
While braking (in hybrid mode, with max regen braking on), the car begins to lurch forward with significant force as it comes to a stop. This seems to be an issue with max regen, as acceleration and braking is overall much smoother with the feature off. This has happened sometimes before, but is difficult to replicate on demand. No warning lights on dash, and has not been confirmed by a dealer. There were no warning lights or messages, and has happened since purchase of the vehicle in June 2022. This instance was so severe that the vehicle almost crashed into the house, as i was pulling into the driveway and braking. Upon researching online, others have reported this issue, with some involved in motor vehicle crashes because of it. Clearly a safety issue that requires attention.
See attached document for complaint.
The exhaust system is ran underneath the gas tank . I am concerned that if I’m involved in a rear end accident that it may cause an explosion such as what has happened to previous jeeps that had the exhaust system ran underneath the gas tank.
I was driving in the middle lane on I96 west when the dashboard lite up fully every light alerting me of every possible thing that needs attention known to man. This isn’t the first time this has happened but it is was the first time on the highway. I attempted to move the steering wheel which wasn’t working-I’m guessing the power steering wasn’t working, I slowly moved to the far right lane and managed to exit the freeway actually “‘manhandling” the steering wheel to make the vehicle turn in either direction. Needless to say I was beyond scared of what was gonna happen next. I made it to a grocery store parking lot and called for towing back to the dealer. This vehicle was just at the dealer the previous week for the dashboard lighting up in the same way but I didn’t drive it anywhere since I couldn’t turn the wheel that time either. The dealer told me it was a fluke and sent me on my way. This vehicle is two yrs old and has only been serviced by the dealer for oil changes and tire rotations. After doing some research, I’ve read that other owners of Jeep wranglers have had similar problems going as far back as 2018! I can’t possibly be the only to report this issue. If I lost control of the vehicle due to power steering issues and sensor/computer failures what would happen to me? Would I be dead? Would I kill other people on the road? How would I ever be able to prove this is the vehicle and not me? This is an issue that needs to be looked at deeper. My vehicle is still at the dealership. It’s only two yrs old and has 40,000 miles. I need someone to look into this problem before something horrible happens to someone. Unfortunately my daughter also has a jeep wrangler and I hope she can stay calm if something like this happens to her on the freeway.
I first encountered the “death wobble” at 18,000 miles. It happened to both me and my husband within a hundred miles of each incident. I took my car in for an oil change and talked to the technician and he said that he could try the fix that Jeep put forth to attempt to fix it, but it never really fixed the issue. Well, it was not that bad and happened infrequently and life moves on. Fast forward to about 30,000 miles, the last month and now the wobble happens any time I’m at speeds over 60 and hit a tiny bump in the road. Last night, it threw me into the lane next to me and if there had been a car there, it would have been terrible accident. I drove home at 50mph on the freeway! It was terrifying. I am taking it to the dealership tomorrow and I’ll see what they have to say now. This is so dangerous and scary. It need to be corrected.
