I have been and currently experiencing the death wobble while going on high speeds on the freeway. It feels like my jeep is out of control as the steering wheel Shakes and the whole car Shakes. I took it to the dealership where they just completed repairs for the shaking and put new suspension on. About two days later, I still experience the same shaking. There are no warning lights that come on.
ON [XXX] My 2022 Jeep Wrangler Hybrid was parked in my carport. Around [XXX] I started smelling something burning so got up to check the house and then went to the garage to check our cars. On checking the Jeep I noticed that the inside of the cabin was filling with smoke. I immediately called 911 and as I was on the phone with them the Jeep spontaneously burst into flames on the inside. The Fire department arrived shortly after. They began flooding the jeep with water and had to drag it out of our car port. Once they had it away from the house the continued to flush it with water and also placed a fire retardant blanket over the top of it to contain the fire. It continued to burn for several more hours until a tow truck arrived to take it to a yard. The fire truck had to follow the Tow as the car was still smoldering as they loaded it. According to the fire marshals' initial assessment he believed the fire was started from the Jeeps Lithium Ion battery. * It is believed to be the Lithium Ion Battery. It has a recall and I had the recall scheduled for 1/9/2025 but it caught fire on [XXX]. The Jeep is with Progressive my insurance company and could possibly be inspected at request. * Luckily we caught it before it was fully engulfed. Jeep did emit noxious fumes while it was on fire and being put out. Our neighbor had to evacuate because of the fumes possibly entering her house. * It has been confirmed by Progressive and they have placed Jeep on notice. * It was inspected by the Ins Co. They are awaiting on the inspector from Jeep. * There were no warning or indications prior to this happening. The contact owns a 2022 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at undisclosed speeds and driving over a bump in the roadway or a pothole, the vehicle experienced a death wobble. No warning light was illuminated. The contact regained control of the vehicle and continued driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was inspected by a technician who noticed an abnormal play in the steering wheel. The inner and outer drag link and steering wheel were adjusted, and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.
The engine lost power while driving and was almost T-boned the first time the issue happened. No warning lights were present before the loss of power. I was leaving a stop sign and crossing traffic did not have to stop. The posted speed limit for the cross street is 40 MPH. The dealership updated the software, and the Wrangler 4XE was returned the same day. Less than two weeks later, the loss of motive power occurred again. The dealership had the vehicle for almost 40 days and replaced the high-voltage battery pack. About 50 miles after the car was returned, the check engine light came on. I was almost home when this happened and had the 4XE towed for the third time. Texan Jeep claims they had engineers from Jeep look at the vehicle while it was in the shop for an extended period of time. These vehicles are not safe to be on the road! The safety of any other vehicle around a 4XE is at risk. They can shut down and go into limp mode without warning, with or without the recalls being complied with. The only reason I did not have a significant accident was my training as a commercial airline pilot and dealing with simulated emergencies.
My 4xe goes into turtle mode several times a week and loses power as I am driving. I have contact jeep and 2 dealerships regarding this several times and they said since they can't duplicate it, there is nothing they can do. Has been happening for over a year.
I have experienced what is call "death wobble" multipletimes. This is a 2022 with 30k millage. It has been to a service center three times and the drag link with ends has been replaced twice. The problem continues and only happens at highway speed. This issue has put us in what could have been a serious accident with semi-trucks on 50+ mph multiple times. I feel like this is a possible life threatening situation. I have a dash cam video of this happening and have had multiple servers centers inspect it. They have not been able to reproduce the issue, highly intermittent. To have an authorized agent look at it, I will have to pay a $229 diagnostic fee. When this death wobble occurs, there is no warning at all.
My Jeep began experiencing a death wobble going about 65 mph . When driving at 65 mph and went over a bump on the roadway my vehicle’s steering and suspension began shaking violently and almost caused an accident. Anytime the vehicle was cranked up the throttle was elevated and stayed elevated till for 10 mins and you can not drive for 20 mins because the throttle would stick wide open and unable to lower . The exhaust has a backfire upon acceleration as well. The exhaust system is ran underneath the gas tank which I believe is a hazard . There is a ticking and knocking noise in the engine as well.
Dec 23 took mine in for recall service. Had no issues prior to having this done. Pick up the same day. Was told passed the drive test. Drove to work Dec 24th (26 miles round trip) no issues. Did not drive on Christmas. Placed it to charge that night, for drive to work the 26th. Noticed it did not charge completely. On the way in to work service light came on. Time to leave work, it would not start. Dash had the service charging station. Waited a few minutes. Then it did finally start. Tried to place it in esave. It would not go. Regeneration went off. It drove horrible. Slow acceleration, especially from a complete stop. Got it home and had it towed to a different dealership that had performed the update. Was told a module is bad and they are keeping it until the 30th to check for other issues. They said as a precaution to ensure I was safe on the road. Terrifying experience.
The vehicle tends to lurch/jerk forward during various driving scenarios. The most frightening is when you are approaching a stop light/sign, and there is a car in front of you when this happens. I have had several experiences of almost hitting the vehicle at the light/stop sign.
2022 Jeep 4xe Rubicon, 13,000 Miles - At about 5,000 miles I first noticed an occasional wobble in the front end at speeds around 50mph or above. The wobble has progressively gotten worse and at around 9,000 miles has developed into a full blown "death wobble". At 60mph or above it is most likely to happen. When is does happen it is started by a small bump or depression (smaller than a pothole will do it) the front end of the vehicle shakes violently and the only way to stop it is to let my foot off of the gas and let it coast. At around 40mph it will stop. Hitting the brakes increases the shaking. This is scary and unpleasant and causes confusion to drivers who are behind as I try to make my way to the side of the road. I took it to the dealership and they balanced the tires and charged me $120.00. This improved it for about 2 weeks and then the wobble returned just as before.
I had the 95B battery recall performed at my Jeep Dealer and 2 days later I had a sudden loss of power and and sudden breakdown of the vehicle requiring towing to the Jeep dealer (Orlando Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Orlando, FL 4101 W Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32808 Phone: (407) 299-1120) on [XXX]. They have not been able to give us any answers other than the hybrid battery needs replacement and over 2 weeks later they are giving us no answers or solutions. Cranked up Jeep and had no warning lights. Pulled onto highway, Electronic Stability Control alarm sounded. Made it to stop light, stopped, Jeep did not cut off but showed an alarm where it would not move until it was put in park then back in drive. This happened 4 times then stopped. I turned off of the highway onto a different road, got up to speed (approx 60mph) the ESC warning came back on and went off. Jeep did not cut off but it jerked a few times then the RPMs shot up to around 9 without me pressing the gas. I was able to pull over, cut it off and sit for a min. then I cranked it back up and it ran fine for about 5 miles then going about 60mph it lunged forward with no speed increase, RPMs shot up again and a Transmission code came up on the dash screen. I pulled over, my husband came and we put it on a trailer and carried it home. Ran diagnostics and changed both the main and auxiliary battery and it was fine for about a month. I went to run errands about a month later, got in and all the electrical would come on but it would not crank and all the gears on the shifter showed in orange and blinked instead of orange and white like normal. The electrical would not cut off without unhooking both batteries. Tested batteries, auxiliary was completely dead. Replaced it, Jeep still would not crank and the electrical stayed on unless the batteries were disconnected. Trailered it to the dealership, they did multiple tests to find out it was the TCM. First Incident occured 12/18/24, second incident occurred 1/17/24.
While driving over 50mph, I encountered issues with stablization where the steering wheel would violently shift left and right, and the vehicles front tires were wobbling uncontrollably until lowering speeds below 30mph. After the dealer replaced the steering damper, I ran into this problem again but much worse as I was driving 70mph on the Interstate. After almost losing control multiple times I was able to take back roads home. This is a huge safety issue as I had my baby in the vehicle and the issue is still occurring. Upon looking under the vehicle I noticed the steering damper free floating and the bolt was missing for the wheel. I'm not sure if the bolt assembly is bent but it appears the replacement by the dealer is inadequate.
Wife was going to work. Started to notice difference in the feel of the drive. Then the check engine light came on. When she started to accelerate the vehicle jerks. When the vehicle is at a stop then accelerates the it takes about 5 seconds for the car to start moving. Today the vehicle turns on but can’t switch gears to put it in reverse or drive. Vehicle is a paper wait and the earliest time I can take in to a certified mechanic is 1 month. I’ve had multiple issues with this car. Death wobble, electric recalls. And a recall that stated part not available park your car not in your garage and don’t charge your hybrid…. How can this car be allowed on the streets with this many issues under 2 years
Jeep wrangler has 46k miles, 2 years, but battery died while car was running. Would not start once car engine shut down. I was stuck in the middle of a busy intersection and was out ant risk of an collision. Upon running diagnostics, battery is fully drained and alternator is not starting. Online forms suggest it could be the alternative battery, charging the start/stop function, that died and drained the charge from the main battery. Prior to the incident, there was a low voltage warning which got worse over 2 days, until ultimately it died completely.
Encountered the famous death wobble too often the last couple of weeks even at moderate speed of 45mph
Driving at highway speed, approximately 65 mph. When vehicle drives over uneven section of pavement, for example when changing lanes, front end starts to vibrate violently and steering is compromised. Vibration persists until speed is reduce by approximately 10 mph. Vehicle is stock and has 11,000 miles.

I have a wrangler 4Xe that I purchased August 2022. Yesterday the Jeep went dead while driving 30mph. This already happened 2 times
When applying brakes at low speed (under 20mph) pedal feels soft and brakes do not engage as expected- vehicles travels further than anticipated. At times engine races and vehicle surges forward, other times ABS malfunctions, causing tires to squeal and vehicle to lurch. There is no reason for the ABS to engage when traveling under 20mph on an even, dry road. I have had other issues such as overheating, which the dealership observed, but the computer had no trouble codes for, so I would be happy to have it inspected. The vehicle surging forward when brakes are applied is a safety concern, as is unreliable braking and the ABS engaging inappropriately. I have not been to the dealer for this issue yet, I was able to document the occurrence from my dashboard cam this weekend. I have video in my dashcam with the squealing and lurching that I can't upload.
On [XXX] I bought a 2022 Jeep wrangler 392 from Ron Tonkin Jeep in Milwaukie, OR. It was certified pre owned and still under full manufacturer warranty. I drove the car for one day then parked it at Portland airport before flying to Chicago. A week later while still out of town, I received a call from the parking lot manager that my car spontaneously caught on fire last night and violently burned also damaging 3 cars near it. The fire department came and put out the fire and said the fire was caused by “mechanical failure, malfunction”. Jeep has refused to cover this claim because they said the cause of the fire cannot be determined. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
On Nov 16, 2024 I was driving and turned a corner as soon as I did the engine light and another light came on with a message saying do not shift or turn off. I had it towed to Capital Jeep and they said it was my main and aux battery, a week later which was yesterday 11-29-24 the same lights and message came on, I pulled into the dealership and they said it was the green bus connecter behind the glove box, then today 11-30-24 I was driving same lights and message again, however this time I could not go passed 5 miles an hour. So now it’s towed again and sitting at the dealership
My 4E is currently under recall for a battery/fire issue so have been relying on gas to fill the vehicle. Recently, after pumping gas for 10-15 seconds it shuts itself off at the pump and often gas spills out from the fuel neck. Jeep has had this problem on many of their vehicles for years and it is not covered warranty. There needs to be a safety recall. Its horrible I cant charge the vehicle and now I cant put gas in it either.
The IPC short circuited and has not been functioning since November of 2024. There is no gas gauge, fuel gauge or way to see any check engine lights. There is an active recall for jeeps 2018-2024 under NHTSA recall number 24V-652. No accidents or anything to cause this panel to be blank. Drove it the night before, parked and when I started it the following morning the entire panel was black.
Complete loss of dashboard functionality while driving in hybrid mode. Dash suddenly went black, all warning lights started flashing and tachometer and charging gauge dials bouncing. Drove to Suburban Jeep Ann Arbor with problem still occurring. Showed dash display to service representative. Service technician unable to replicate problem. Service representative communicated vehicle is operating as intended and is ready for pick up.
Brakes stopped functioning. Jeep started accelerating. Very unsafe speeds approaching a school zone. Eventually brakes reengaged and then engine shut down.
I received a recall that the battery may catch on fire, I do not feel safe driving the car
I brought my jeep in for the 95B recall this past December (12/17/24), it was fixed for about a week then problems with the electric system emerged and the vehicle would not run in electric mode. I also received messages saying that an oil change was required (despite having an oil change done in December), and that the battery needed to be charged for maintenance (despite the battery being fully charged the previous evening). I brought it back to dealer (2/3/25) to fix the issue. They said they fixed it and gave it back to me. A few days later the same problems reappeared so I brought it back on 2/22/25 and just received word that they cannot find a solution to the problems despite working with tech advisors from other dealerships and Stellantis. In short, I have had the same issues with the vehicle since about November, they have attempted to fix it 3 times and now are telling me that they do not have a fix for the problems. Please help!
My instrument control panel went completely black without any prior glitches. I couldn't see my speed, cruise control lights, engine temp, gas gauge...nothing on my panel displayed.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the high-voltage battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 22,716.VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Recall #95B one of many since I purchased my vehicle. Cannot use it for what it was purchased for which was to use electric and save gas money. Now recall states not to plug in vehicle and that it can catch fire and explode at any time running or not. I am scared to death to drive this vehicle and have my child anywhere near it. And it is our only vehicle which costs me over $1000 a month payment I can barely afford. Its causing us extreme stress and anxiety. I have been trying for months to get rid of this vehicle which has dropped over 50% in the value.
I have received a recall notification 95B/NHTSA 24V-720 that advises I should not charge my PHEV, park away from structures or other vehicles until the remedy is obtained. However, no guidance has been provided on what to do if these precautions cannot be met. This situation is unacceptable. Receiving a recall advisory with such severe restrictions—without a solution or clear guidance on alternative safety measures—leaves customers in an impossible position. It is unreasonable to expect owners to manage these risks independently without adequate support or timely options to ensure safety and functionality. I have raised this concern with FCA and received no adequate response. I therefore would like to formerly lodge a complaint.
History since I leased this vehicle: 1. Charging cord froze to vehicle when parked at a charging station outside and would not detach until it thawed. 2. Car was recalled for a battery issue and was allegedly fixed. 3. Car later died. The battery was completely dead for no apparent reason. I had to have the vehicle towed to the dealer for the battery to be replaced. They were not able to explain why the battery died. 4. Just received another recall for a High Voltage Battery fire risk issue that they have no remedy for as of yet. We are advised not to charge the vehicle or park it near any structures or other vehicles! 5. While driving home from work, the Jeep suddenly stopped moving. The console where the shift gear is began to flash and I had to put my foot on the brake, put the car into park and then put it back into drive to get it to move again. When it went back into drive it lurched forward. Luckily no one was behind me at the time or they likely would have smashed into me or I could have caused an accident. According to online research it is another on-going problem, one article reads there are hundreds of complaints on the Jeep forums with no fix saying: When customers take their Jeeps in, the service advisors have trouble diagnosing the issue. And while Jeep has issued some recalls, the problems remain and the electric Jeeps continue to fail.

I am writing to file a complaint regarding the recent safety recall (NHTSA Recall Numbers: 24V-720 and 24E-080) affecting my Chrysler vehicle. The recall pertains to a potential fire risk associated with the high-voltage battery pack. While I appreciate Chrysler’s efforts to address this safety concern, I have serious reservations about the effectiveness of the proposed remedy. 1.Safety Concerns: I am worried about the safety of my vehicle’s battery. The recall notice indicated that a battery pack may contain cells with separator damage that could lead to a vehicle fire. I find it concerning that the proposed remedy primarily involves a software update and inspection, rather than an immediate battery replacement, especially given the potential risks involved. 2.Request for Action: I urge the NHTSA to investigate this matter further and consider whether the proposed remedy adequately addresses the safety risks posed by the high-voltage battery. I believe that consumers deserve clear information and effective solutions when it comes to potential safety defects in their vehicles. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response regarding the steps being taken to address this safety concern.
Windshield developed a crack with no impact. Windshield was normal on a morning errand, then noticed on an afternoon impact. Took dealership and they took pictures, and they did not find any evidence of impact, but refuse to repair under warranty.
The manufacturer has not been able to remedy the batteries for electrical propulsion, saying "no remedy available ". Makes me hesitant to drive or park near other vehicles or structures. I have also complained to the dealership, where I purchased my Jeep, about a wobble/shake in the front-end when driving over bumps. After two attempts they have not been able to find a reason for or repair my vehicle. When driving in rain, this condition makes control a dangerous issue in heavy traffic. The most recent occurance was on [XXX] where the posted speed limit is 80mp, accompanied by heavy 18 wheeler traffic! I have also experienced the wobble/shake when traveling [XXX] from Texas to Louisiana, in the rain, surrounded by heavy automobile & 18 wheel traffic once again. This is a very stressful and uncomfortable situation to be in. I have experienced the wobble/shake soon after the purchase of my Jeep, still exists after several mechanical inspections at the dealership where purchased. I have also written a letter to the manufacturer, dated August 22, 2024, for these issues & the devaluation that exists with this particular model, to date I have not received a response! There is no excuse for the inability to repair or respond to my concerns! I have a copy of my letter to Customer Care for Stellantis & recall & repair documents; I am unable to upload at this time. Received a notice in October that there is a chance for the battery in the vehicle I currently own could start on fire. They stated they have no resolution for this at the time. I was informed not to fully charge it, not to park near buildings, and not to park near other vehicles. This is impossible for me to do at this time. I have HOA’s where I am renting that I cannot park in the street. I also have children that I do not want in this vehicle or driving this vehicle if there is such a serious malfunction that could happen. I am a special education teacher, and there’s no place for me to park where I work that is away from buildings, other vehicles and children. I called the dealership and had text messages with them. I have called the manufacturing number and was told I was put on another list and a person would call me in a day or two. Two weeks went by. I called again. I still have not had a case manager call me to let me know what my options are. I would like my money back and want to return this vehicle. I do not feel safe driving it. I have a 2022 Wrangler 4xe. This weekend I rear ended a car in stop and go traffic. When I used the brake it actually felt like the car jumped forward a bit. I had to stomp on the brake pedal again as if my first attempt had no grab. More details...I was in hybrid mode with <1% battery status and max regen was on. I was going less than 10 miles an hour. Jeep has a max regeneration function that uses the engine to generate an EV battery recharge. I understand that the max regen sort of turns off when you are rolling at really low speeds, but it seems the transition to/from this is rough on the transmission or something. This only happens at low speeds (in parking lots, etc) This behavior happens intermittently but, this is the first time I was not able to stop completely before an impact occured.
My 2022 Jeep has an open recall and Not enough is being done to remedy the situation. I bought a “hybrid jeep” to save on gas money and now I’m spending more money on gas than ever. I want compensation!
Driving in hybrid mode at approximately 50 mph in moderate traffic. experienced sudden loss of power and decelerated immediately to <5 mph nearly resulting in rear end collision from following truck. navigated traffic at <5 mph and pulled into parking lot. Warning lights included -Service charging system -Check Engine -Battery Warning -Plug Status Fault -Torque Limited Warning Shut down vehicle and towed to Suburban Jeep Ann Arbor. This is the fourth occurrance in approximately 4 months/4,000 miles.
We recently got the Jeep back from being serviced for a problem (P0E15-00) that seems to be a common issue with a part (hybrid/EV battery pack coolant heater) that breaks every 15-30k miles. Yay! Ours was at just over 17k miles. Now, on top of all of this, I receive a notice for our fourth recall in 2 years, for a battery that could randomly catch fire and there is no fix known yet. The charger for the Jeep is literally right outside my children's bedrooms. If I want to charge my vehicle, I am potentially risking a fire right next to where my kids sleep. If I don't plug in, the whole point of us picking the plug-in hybrid is a total waste of our money. I also have to park next to an apartment building, let alone my other coworkers' vehicles when I go to work. I now feel like my vehicle is a ticking time bomb. I would love to be able to end my lease early to get out of this nightmare. At the very least is there an option for a loaner vehicle or rental reimbursement until this potentially extremely dangerous issue is repaired?

While driving down the highway at speed, vehicle lost power and the a check engine light. I had to immediately exit the highway, shift to park, and shut down the vehicle. Once restarted, vehicle operated normally, but with the check engine light on. Computer scan shows code U0293 "Lost Communication with Power train Control Module".
