The contact owns a 2005 Kia Sedona. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, she noticed that the vehicle was overheating. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated she attempted to open the hood of the vehicle to determine the cause of the failure, but the hood would not open. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.
Hi my van started smell a lot to fuel so I looked for leaks and I found a big leak on the fuel rail rack dripping a lot of fuel on the side of engine when engine is running and the car is unsafe to drive and I’m very worried about this problem. This happened after my car stalled on the street and it never wanted to start again and when I make it start again it started smell gas

THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000. *AS PHOTOS ATTACHED *JB
MY 2005 KIA SEDONA WAS PARKED IN MY GARAGE AND IT CAUGHT FIRE IN THE DASH IN FRONT OF THE STEERING WHEEL. THAT IS WHERE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT SAID IT STARTED. IT WAS A TOTAL LOSS, ONLY HAD 115,000 MILES, NO ISSUES. THANK GOD IT WAS AT 8 AM AND WE WERE AWAKE, EARLIER MY WHOLE FAMILY AND OUR HOME MAY HAVE BEEN GONE AS WELL.
MY KIA SEDONA STARTS WHEN IT WANTS TO. I HAVE POWER TO THE DASH LIGHTS, RADIO, AND OTHER ELECTRONICS. THE COMPANY HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE SINCE THE 2002 VERSION AND WITH HIGH MILES. IT HAS TO DEAL WITH THE "AN ISSUE WITH THE FACTORY VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER CONTROL MODULE CAN CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO THINK IT IS BEING STOLEN. THIS WILL IMMEDIATELY DISALLOW THE VEHICLE FROM STARTING.". WHILE THIS IS GOOD MOST OF THE TIME, IT ISN'T GOOD SINCE IT DOESN'T SET OFF THE "ENGINE LIGHT" SO MECHANICS CAN READ THE COMPUTER. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY VEHICLE FOR A MONTH AND MISSED NUMEROUS DAYS OF WORK DUE TO THIS ISSUE. THE MECHANICS THAT ATTEMPT TO WORK ON MY VEHICLE, CAN NOT GET IT TO DUPLICATE THE "NOT STARTING", IT WILL START EVERY TIME FOR THEM. MAKING ME FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR TWO MONTHS AND IT DRAINING MY FINANCES. I DID SOME RESEARCH OF MY OWN AND DISCOVERED THAT ON WWW.REPAIRPAL.COM HAS MANY WHO HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. KIA WANTS ME TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST KIA DEALER TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. THE NEAREST DEALER IS 6 HRS AWAY AND THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT IT WOULD MAKE IT THERE. I COULDN'T EVEN DRIVE IT 2 HRS WITH OUT AN ISSUE. I FEEL SINCE THEY KNEW THERE WAS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS MODULE ON THIS VEHICLE, THEY SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT AND MAKE COMPENSATION FOR THE CUSTOMER.
WHILE DRIVING AT APPROX 55MPH ON BOTH A 2 LANE HWY AND THE INTERSTATE HWY, THE VAN WOULD SUDDENLY MAKE A LOUD BANG SOUND, JUMP, AND THE RPMS WOULD GO UP TO OVER 4000 AND SOUND LIKE IT WAS IN 2ND GEAR. ENG LIGHT CODE SAID INTAKE TRANS SENSOR, WHICH I HAD REPLACED. SAME PROBLEM HAPPEND 2 MORE TIMES AFTER THAT AND STILL NOT FIXED.WILL WORK FOR A WHILE AFTER SHUTTING CAR OFF AND RESTARTING IT BUT SAME PROBLEM HAPPENS AFTER ABOUT 20 MILES. CODE STILL READS INTAKE SENSOR PROBLEM EACH TIME. I TRIED USING OFF BRAND SENSORS THE FIRST 2 TIMES AND AN AUTHENTIC KIA SENSOR THE 3RD TIME. THERE WAS NO DIFFERENCE IN PERFORMANCE, JUST THE COST OF THE PARTS.

I WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 55 WITH MY 2YR OLD DAUGHTER AND I WAS GOING 70MPH WHEN THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE CAUSING MY CAR TO FISHTAIL IN BETWEEN BOTH LANES ON THE HIGHWAY UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO GAIN CONTROL AGAIN AND GOT MY CAR TO THE SHOULDER OF THE HIGHWAY. THE DEFECTIVE TIRE IS A FIRESTONE WILDERNESS HT 225/70R15

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (KIA OF GRAND BLANC AT 6167 SAGINAW RD, GRAND BLANC, MI 48439, (810) 694-5600) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR PART. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE DEALER NOT DIAGNOSING THE AFTERMARKET DORMAN CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR THAT WAS DEFECTIVE AND CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR WAS NOT A KIA PART AND DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000.
IN MOTION. THE BRAKES BECAME MORE AND MORE SPONGY. UPON INSPECTION I FOUND THE STUDS THAT HOLD THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER TO THE BOOSTER, ONE WAS BROKEN OFF AND THE OTHER HAD A LOOSE NUT.

THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE AND EXPLODED. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED. THE ORIGIN OF THE FIRE WAS UNDETERMINED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 240,000.

THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE WHEEL BEARINGS AND HUBS PREMATURELY FRACTURED AND WERE HELD TOGETHER ONLY BY TWO BOLTS. THE PARTS HAD TO BE REPLACED ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE. THE DEALER WAS TO FURTHER INSPECT THE OTHER THREE TIRES. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 05V232000 (WHEELS). THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN AS TO WHO WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND IF THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

AIR BAG DASH LIGHT CAME ON ONE MORNING AND HAS NEVER GONE OUT, KIA WANTS BETWEEN 100 AND 1500 DOLLARS TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR, EVEN THO VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.

3/29/2016...MY 2005 KIA SEDONA HAS STEERING PROBLEMS. THE STEERING WHEEL IS TIGHT OR STIFF AND OFTEN DIFFICULT TO STEER ESPECIALLY IN MAKING RIGHT TURNS. MY MECHANIC EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM THIS MORNING WHEN DRIVING IT AND SAID IT IS THE STEERING COUPLER. WHEN HE CONTACTED A LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP THEIR PARTS DEPARTMENT TOLD HIM THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS ITEM. HOWEVER, IT SEEMS WHEN I CALLED TO ARRANGE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE RECALL ADDRESSED, I LEARNED THAT THERE IS NO OPEN RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AT THIS TIME BUT THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL BACK IN 2005 ON THE STEERING COUPLER AND WORK HAD BEEN DONE. HOWEVER, I DIDN'T PURCHASE THE VAN UNTIL 2007 AND WAS UNAWARE OF THAT RECALL. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS STEERING PROBLEM THAT IS OCCURRING NOW IN MY KIA SEDONA VAN AND THAT IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AGAIN BY KIA AND BELIEVE THAT OTHER OWNERS MAY BE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS IN STEERING THEIR VANS AS I AM. THE STEERING COUPLER NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AGAIN.

FUEL TANK LEAKS DUE TO CORROSION NEAR FILLER TUBE. THIS IS A SIMULAR PROBLEM TO THE FUEL TANK CORROSION EXPERIENCED BY 2006-ON KIA SPORTAGES. DESCRIPTION: FUEL WILL LEAK FROM THE TANK WHEN THE TANK IS FULL DUE TO RUST/CORROSION OF THE TANK NEAR THE FILLER TUBE. THE VEHICLE IS OPERATED/OWNED IN MICHIGAN, AN AREA THAT USES LARGE AMOUNTS OF ROAD SALT DURING THE WINTER MONTHS. FUEL LEAKAGE IS POSING A POTENTIAL FIRE/EXPLOSION RISK AS FUEL VAPORS FROM THE LEAKAGE MAY BE IGNITED. FUEL LEAKAGE OCCURS BOTH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND IN MOTION. IF THE VEHICLE IS PARKED IN A CLOSED GARAGE THE VAPORS CAN ACCUMULATE, ELEVATING THE RISK FOR FIRE/EXPLOSION. (SIMULARLY THE REAR COOLANT LINES RUST THROUGH AS WELL DUE TO ROAD SALT, WHICH IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE KIA SEDONA)

ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE SPED INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION AND NEARLY CAUSED A CRASH. IN ADDITION, WHILE REVERSING INTO A STORAGE SPACE, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AND CRASHED INTO A BRICK WALL. THE DEALER CLEANED THE THROTTLE, BUT THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 KIA SEDONA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED EXCESSIVELY AS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE CABLE WAS STUCK AND AS A RESULT, THE THROTTLE ASSEMBLY WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER : 05V329000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 101,000.
WE HAVE A 2005 SEDONA WHICH WE LOVE. IT'S BEEN A GREAT CAR FOR US. UNFORTUNATELY, WE HAVE HAD ONGOING ISSUES WITH IT FOR SOME TIME NOW. OUR MAIN PROBLEM AND CONCERN RIGHT NOW IS WITH THE FRONT END STRUTS AND OR ALIGNMENT. THE NOISE AND KNOCKING AT LOW SPEEDS (ESPECIALLY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STAND-STILL) IS TROUBLESOME, BUT MORE TROUBLESOME IS THAT WE CONSTANTLY NEED TO REPLACE THE FRONT TIRES. WE ARE GOING ON OUR 4TH SET OF NEW TIRES (FOR THE FRONT ALONE) DUE TO ALIGNMENT ISSUES. NO BALANCING OR ALIGNMENT WORK HAS HELPED. AFTER HOURS OF RESEARCH ON LINE, IT SEEMS THAT THE FRONT BRAKES MAY BE UNDERSIZED CAUSING THE ROTORS TO OVER HEAT AND WARP. THE STRUTS ALSO SEEM TO HAVE A WRONG TYPE OF MOUNT SYSTEM AND HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS TO BE FOUND ON THE WEB FROM PEOPLE WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. DEAR OFFICER, I HAVE PURCHASED 2 SETS OF FOUR TIRES (ASSURANCE TRIPLETRED, 215/70R15) IN SUMMER 2010 AND 2011 (HYUNDAI XG AND KIA SEDONA). IN JUNE AND JULY OF 2011 I PURCHASED 4 YOKOHAMA 215/70R15 98S AVID TOURING S TIRES FOR MY 2005 KIA SEDONA VAN. WITHIN THE LAST 6 MONTHS I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE 3 TIRES DUE TO SEPARATION. DRIVING IS BOTH HIGHWAY AND CITY WITH AT LEAST 80 MILES HIGHWAY 5 DAYS EVER OTHER WEEK. SINCE PURCHASING THE TIRES I HAVE DRIVEN 46,000 MILES. THE FIRST SEPARATION OCCURRED AUGUST 1, 2012 WITH MILLAGE AT 157,000. THE SECOND ON NOVEMBER 21, 2012 AT 164,000 MILES. THE THIRD SEPARATION OCCURRED FEBRUARY 1, 2013 AT 176,000 MILES. THE SYMPTONS INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES ARE; A. WOBBLING OF THE VEHICLE AT VERY LOW SPEED, B. PULLING TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT, C. INTENSE VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEED (>55). WE ARE LUCKY THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACCIDENTS RELATING TO THESE DEFECTIVE TIRES. THE FIRST TWO TIRES WERE REPLACED UNDER THE TIRE DEALERS WARRANTY PROGRAM. I LOST CONFIDENCE IN THE MANUFACTURER AND MODEL AFTER THE THIRD SEPARATION AND WITH CREDIT FROM YOKOHAMA PURCHASED FOUR NEW TIRES; DIFFERENT MAKE AND MODEL. ALL THE TIRES WERE RETAINED BY THE DEALER.
