Recall appointment was set with Ken Ganley Kia auto iNew Port Richey , FL. It was set for two weeks out. They told us what the recall was before we got there. They didn’t order the part to fix it. Now It’s been since March 23rd and we have never heard from them. I feel they’ve had ample opportunity to get the part required to fix it. Since this is a safety issue I am very aggravated . On top of that, my husband wasted an entire day and they gave us a $10,000 estimate on a car worth maybe $1000. It is my opinion they have done nothing required by law to fix this. Since it is regarding a safety concern I wanted to report this issue..
The contact owns a 2011 Kia Sedona. The contact stated while driving 60 MPH, the hood latch fractured, and the hood unexpectedly flew open and crashed into the front windshield. The contact stated that the hood was wrapped around the vehicle. There were no reported injuries. The driver was able to pull over safely. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V389000 (Latches/Locks/Linkages). The failure mileage was 116,102.
First, the fuel pump was acting up was told the relay was going bad replaced the relay, Than we have "ESC" and ABS light come one for a bout a week took it to get the code read and they said all four wheel sensors (abs) were not transmitting signals ans that my steering angle sensor was bad which I dont think it is equipped with one now today as of 1/6/2024 ESC, ABS and BRAKE all light up and solid at the same time and tI lost my brakes. no we had no inspections we had warning lights the ESC ABS & BRAKE with a warning alarm
PURCHASE A 2011 KIA VAN FROM AUTO CONNECTION NORFOLK VIRGINIA THE VAN STARED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT SHUT UP PROPERLY SOMETIMES IT WOULD TAKE 10 to 15 TO SHUT UP STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP WAS TOLD BY A LOCK SMITH THAT THE VAN HAD SOME MAJOR ELECTRICAL ISSUES START LEAKING BRAKE FLUID ADDING A QUART A DAY TOOK IT TO SEVERAL REPAIR SHOP WAS INFORMED THE VAN BRAKE LINES WAS IN BAD SHAPE ALSO THE VAN HAD A BUSTED CV JOINT ON FRONT DRIVERS SIDE THE VAN ALSO HAD A STRONG ODOR OF BLACK MOLD LIKE IT HAD BEEN IN A FLOOD ASK DEALERSHIP TO TRADE ME OUT WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT DO THAT ASK THEM FOR A LOANER THEY SAY THEY COULD NOT DO THAT EITHER THE VAN IS SITTING IN THERE REPAIR SHOP THEY ARE DEMANDING MONEY TO START WORKING ON THE VAN I BELIEVE THE VAN WAS NOT PROPERLY INSPECTED HAVE REPORTED THIS TO THE BBB THE ATTORNEY GENERAL OFFICE ALSO THE FTC THE DEALERSHIP IS PUTTING VEHICLES ON THE LOT FOR SALE WITHOUT PROPER STATE INSPECTION PLACE NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED THEY HAVE A GUY IN THE REPAIR SHOP THAT PUT THE INSPECTION STICKERS ON HIS NAME IS KEVIN PLACE IS RIPPING POOR WORKING CLASS FOLKS OFF WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER
I had no prior knowledge of this problem. When backing my van out of the garage my front driver side tire blew out. This was caused by the strut spring breaking and poking a hole through the sidewall of the tire. I also discovered that the bottom control arm needed immediate replacement as it has rusted so much that a failure was imminent. I also discovered that the sun-frame mount for mounting the control arm to the sub-frame so badly rusted that it was unsafe to attempt a repair, as it would break away in short order if I were to replace the control arm and drive the van. While deciding what to do with the van I was storing it in my barn. Within a few weeks, I discovered the front passenger tire was flat. It too was impaled when the strut spring broke and poked a hole in the sidewall. I was really lucky that I was driving on a road, as serious crash could have occurred. If this failed while driving, loss of control would have occurred. I consider this a major safety issue and may be present in other Sedonas without the owners' knowledge. I contacted the dealer that I purchased the vehicle from and was told they could do nothing.
Right passenger slide door on minivan opened while my son was in the car and would not close. There is a recall on this and extended 15 year warranty but Kia wouldn’t honor the electronic controller that burnt out but warranted the motor. Passenger can fall out or something can hurt them. Kia dealer confirmed this and I had to pay a large repair bill for there recall defect. I am afraid to take the car anywhere except local. I feel there recall repair caused this problem. First I took it in for the recall. Next time I used that door it got stuck open. Vehicle is garaged with approximately 30,000 miles on it.

both control arms broke and the front tires were ruined. The tow truck driver said they are lucky , they didn't get hurt because if they were going faster , they would have lost control and rolled the van.
EXCESSIVE NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT, MOST NOTABLY ON COLD START OR STARTING A FEW HOURS APART. THE OIL CHANGED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATION, NEVER THE LESS THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH BLEW TWICE AND WAS CHANGED WITH DEALER PART EACH TIME. THE LAST TIME IT WAS CHANGED BY THE DEALER.

THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE SAME TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR AND THE BATTERY. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THREE ALTERNATORS AND TWO BATTERIES YET THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.

WHEN YESTERDAY JUNE 30TH 2020 THE BRAKE LIGHT AND THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON I DIDN'T QUITE UNDERSTAND WHY THIS WAS BECAUSE I HAD NEVER APPLIED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE I HAD THE BATTERY CHECK OIL ALL FLUIDS AND THEY SAID THAT EVERYTHING WAS GOOD THAT IT COULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL WITH THE BRAKE LIGHT ALSO THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL I DO NOT HAVE THE BRAKE ON MATTER OF FACT I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW TO PUT IT ON CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME IT ISN'T DOING ANYTHING WEIRD IT'S JUST SCARING ME BECAUSE THE LIGHT WILL NOT GO OFF AND IT'S NOT JUST THE BRAKE LIGHT BUT THE BATTERY LIGHT AND ABS AS WELL

THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 200,000.

STARTING ABOUT FEB 10, 2020, A RAW GASOLINE SMELL WAS NOTICED WHEN MY 2011 KIA SEDONA LX VEHICLE STOPPED AT STOP LIGHTS OR WHEN ENGINE TURNED OFF AFTER RETURNING HOME. SMELL DISSIPATED AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES WITH ENGINE OFF. RAW GASOLINE SMELL GOT PROGRESSIVELY WORSE WHENEVER CAR ENGINE WAS RUNNING. SMELL CAME INSIDE CAR WITH HEATER FAN OPERATING. NO LEAKS ON GROUND WERE NOTED AT ANY TIME. TOOK CAR TO MY MECHANIC ON FEB 19, 2020. HE REMOVED AIR FILTER ON TOP OF ENGINE AND IMMEDIATELY NOTED PUDDLES OF RAW GASOLINE NEAR FUEL INJECTORS AND FUEL RAIL. AFTER REMOVAL OF RAIL, HE FOUND CRACKS IN THE PLASTIC FUEL RAIL. HE HAD A NEW FUEL RAIL FROM KIA SHIPPED NEXT DAY AIR. HE REPLACED RAIL AND SOME PARTS OF DEFECTIVE FUEL INJECTORS. HE COMMENTED WE WERE VERY LUCKY NOT TO HAVE HAD AN ENGINE FIRE. I NOTED TODAY, FEB 27, 2020 AN ANNOUNCED RECALL FOR 2011-2012 KIA SEDONA FOR FUEL RAIL LEAKS. I DO NOT KNOW IF MY VEHICLE IS IN THE RECALL LIST. BUT I DO KNOW WE WERE LUCKY TO HAVE NO FIRE IN THE ENGINE FROM THIS DEFECTIVE FUEL RAIL PART! MY MECHANIC COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS PART WAS MADE OUT OF A PLASTIC POLYMER! AND IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO BUY!!! HE CHECKED LOCAL KIA DEALER AND THEY SAID REPAIR COSTS WOULD BE ABOUT $2000. WOW, FOR A DEFECTIVE PLASTIC PART AND LABOR TO REPLACE.
I NOTICED A LEAK COMING FROM MY VAN. WASN'T TOO SURE WHAT IT WAS. THEN ON FEB 9 , I WAS DRIVING DOWN I40 AND MY VAN STARTED SMOKING AND EVERYTHING LOCKED ON ME.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WHEN I STARTED THE CAR IN THE MORNING, AND THE GAS DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN. WENT TO DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE . THEY FOUND #1 FUEL CANISTER/CANISTER CLOSE THE VALVE HAS A POSSIBLE CRACK AND #2 FUEL DOOR BUTTON AND ACTUATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED . THEY POPPED THE GAS DOOR OPEN SO I CAN REFILL.
VEHICLE KEEPS LOSING ALL POWER WHILE DRIVING. THIS LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WHEN I WAS TURNING ONTO A BUSY STREET! THE FIRST TIME THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ALTERNATOR. THAT LASTED 3 DAYS. THE MECHANIC THOUGHT IT WAS A DEFECTIVE PART SO HE REPLACED IT. THAT LASTED ANOTHER THREE DAYS UNTIL WE LOST ALL POWER AGAIN. THIS TIME THE MECHANIC DID SOME MORE RESEARCH AND REPLACED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER ALONG WITH A THIRD ALTERNATOR. THE VAN RAN FOR TWO DAYS THIS TIME. AS OF WRITING THIS MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR TWO WEEKS. THE MECHANIC HAS TOLD ME THAT WITH THE RESEARCH HE HAS DONE, THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH KIA AND NOBODY SEEMS TO HAVE A SOLID ANSWER AS TO WHAT TO DO TO FIX THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT SOME VEHICLES ARE FINE FOR WEEKS OTHERS FOR MONTHS AND THEN THE VAN DIES WITHOUT WARNING. PLEASE HELP! I NEED A RELIABLE VEHICLE. THANK YOU. ALSO, WHEN I SAY THE VEHICLE LOSES POWER I MEAN ALL POWER, NO LIGHTS, NO INSTRUMENT PANEL, NO GAUGES, NO IDIOT LIGHTS, NO WINDOWS, NO SHIFTING OF TRANNY. IT WILL GO 2 OR 3 MPH DOWN THE ROAD.
WHILE DRIVING VAN, SMELLED FUEL. WENT INTO A STORE AND LATER RETURNED TO DRIVE VEHICLE HOME AND VAN HEAVILY SMELLED OF FUEL. WHEN I CHECKED THE ENGINE AFTER RETURNING HOME , FUEL WAS RAINING FROM THE FUEL INJECTOR RAIL. IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT THE VAN TO A MECHANIC WHO INFORMED US THE FUEL RAIL ROD HAD SPLIT DOWN A WELD SEAM AND WAS COVERING THE ENGINE IN FUEL. HE HAD NEVER SEEN THIS ISSUE BEFORE IN ALL HIS YEARS AS A MECHANIC. ISSUE IS CURRENTLY A RECALL ON OTHER KIA/HYUNDAI MODELS BUT NOT THIS SPECIFIC MODEL.
I WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 40 WEST WHEN NY WIFE & I SMELLED GAS COMING THROUGH THE AIR VENTS. AFTER GETTING TO GREENSBORO, NC, DISCOVERED THAT WE HAD A GAS LEAK IN IN FRONT FUEL ROD. AFTER CHECKING ONLINE I DISCOVERED THAT WE WERE NOT THE ONLY KIA SEDONA OWNERS THAT ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. THE FUEL ROD IS MADE OF PLASTIC AND IS UNDER PRESSURE.
WHILE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE, ONCE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, IT RANDOMLY REFUSES TO MOVE INTO PARK. MUST KEEP FOOT ON BRAKE WHILE FIGHTING WITH VEHICLE TO TRY TO GET IT INTO PARK. THIS HAPPENS FREQUENTLY BUT RANDOMLY. IT WOULD BE EASY TO RUN OVER A PERSON OR OBJECT IN FRONT OF THE CAR WHILE FIGHTING THE CAR TO MOVE IT INTO PARK. THIS FAILURE ALSO HAPPENS WHILE IN PARK -- IT WILL RANDOMLY REFUSE TO MOVE INTO REVERSE. WITHOUT WARNING, FROM ONE TIME TO THE NEXT IT WORKS PROPERLY THEN LATER IN THE SAME DAY IT WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY -- SOMETIMES JUST MINUTES APART. IT HAS OCCURRED OVER THE LAST TWO DAYS AND IS ON-GOING TODAY. I NEARLY HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME TODAY AT A GAS PUMP WHILE TRYING TO GET THE TRANSMISSION TO MOVE INTO PARK.
FUEL SYSTEMS IS UNSAFE
AT 109K MILES, THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED A WORN OUT ROD BEARING, AND STATED THE ENGINE WOULD LIKELY FAIL IN THE NEAR FUTURE. COMPLETE ENGINE FAILURE HAPPENED WITHIN 24 HOURS OF DIAGNOSIS, APPROXIMATELY 48 HOURS AFTER KNOCKING SOUNDS WERE FIRST DETECTED. ENGINE FAILED WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, WHILE TURNING INTO A PARKING LOT.
ANY TIME THERE IS BUDDLE OF WATER ON THE ROAD AT LOW SPEED UNDER 15 I LOST CONTROL OF STEERING AND POWER YOU CAN'T TURN THE STEERING AND HAS POWER WARNING ON THE DASH SOMETIME ON CAR WASH I HAVE TO PUSH GAS TO GET POWER ON AGAIN
VEHICLE MOTOR SEIZED AND STOPPED WHILE DRIVING DUE TO LOW OIL PRESSURE. MAIN OIL SEAL UNDER ENGINE FAILED SPILLING OIL ON STREET.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000. *TT CONSUMER STATED HE IS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE BRAKES AND CRUISE CONTROL IS NOT WORKING. THIS VEHICLE HAD A RECALL FOR THE STOP LAMP SWITCH, NHTSA 13V114000, THE UNIT WAS REPLACED IN DECEMBER OF 2014 AND HAS FAILED AGAIN. DEALERSHIP IS CHARGING US TO REPLACE THE PART EVEN THOUGH IT'S FAILED AFTER ONLY 22 MONTHS.
I HAVE A 2011 KIA SEDONA . WHEN I GO AND CRANK THIS VAN I GET THE SMELL OF GASOLINE SO STRONG THROUGHOUT MY VAN. YOU CANNOT STAND TO DRIVE IT. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOUR SITTING STILL OR DRIVING. THE SMELL IS OVER WHELMING AND MAKES YOU SICK TO YOUR STOMACH AND CAUSES A HEADACHE FROM FROM THE SMELL. I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL BAR. I HAVE READ OF PLENTY OTHERS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL IF THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING ISSUES ALSO. THIS IS MY FAMILY VEHICLE.
WHILE DRIVING A STRONG FUEL SMELL WAS COMING THROUGH THE VENTS. TOOK TO DEALER THEY SAID NO LEAK - INSTEAD TRIED TO SOLVE THE FUMES BY CLEANING AC VENTS. DROVE IT HOME AND THE FUEL SMELL IS STILL QUITE STRONG. HAD ANOTHER PERSON LOOK AT IT WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING AFTER WE DROVE IT AROUND THE BLOCK AND REMOVED THE ENGINE COVER THE FUEL WAS DRIPPING FROM THE FUEL RAIL. THAT IS WHERE THE FUMES WERE COMING FROM.
THE FUEL INJECTOR RAIL UNDER THE INTAKE MANIFOLD HAS CRACKED BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND INJECTORS (AS COUNTING FROM THE SERPENTINE BELT SIDE OF ENGINE). MY WIFE AND I NOTICED THIS ON SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2018 BECAUSE OF A STRONG GAS SMELL AFTER OUR VAN WAS PARKED. I REMOVED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD THINKING A FUEL INJECTOR SEAL HAD FAILED BUT DISCOVERED THE CRACKED RAIL INSTEAD. THE CRACKED RAIL WAS ALLOWING FUEL TO PUDDLE ON TOP OF THE ENGINE AND THE FUEL WAS BOILING OFF WHEN THE VAN WAS HOT.
THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS/BUSHINGS ARE UNSTABLE AND SHAKE IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR. I HEAR A KNOCKING CONSISTENTLY WHILE IN MOTION.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND OFFERED TO REPAIR ONE DOOR. THE DOORS WERE NOT ALL REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,500.

BOTH MY PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHTS ARE ON. I TOOK THE CAR APX. 1 1/2 - 2 YEARS AGO ABOUT THE DRIVER AIR BAG LIGHT ON AND THE KIA DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS FIXED. IT CAME BACK ON ABOUT 2 MONTHS LATER. I AM NOW BEING TOLD I HAVE TO REPLACE A SENSOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IN THE SEAT TO FIX THE PASSENGER SIDE AND A SENSOR IN THE SEATBELT TO FIX THE DRIVER SIDE. THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE.
THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON WHILE I WAS IDLING. I HAD IT LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD THAT THE OIL SENDING UNIT/ OIL SENSOR SWITCH WAS LEAKING OIL. THE OIL LEAKS OUT FASTER THAN YOU CAN PUT IT IN. IT'S A 3 BOOK HOUR JOB TO REPLACE. THE PART COST IS BETWEEN $30-$60. THEY NEED TO TAKE THE INTAKE OFF TO GET TO THE BAD PART. I'M SURE IT WILL BE ABOUT A $500 FIX. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. IF YOU GOOGLE SEARCH THIS VEHICLE YOU WILL FIND THAT MANY OTHER VANS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
