AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY DURING ACCIDENT. BEFORE ACCIDENT AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON AND STEERING WHEEL FUNCTIONS WERE WORKING (CRUISE, HORN, VOLUME ECT.) DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WOULD NOT ROLL UP.
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR 2 WEEKS AGO MAY 4 THAND THE CAR DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. I GOT SOMEONE TO HELP PUSH THE CAR IN THERE DRIVEWAY. WHEN BACK THE NEXT DAY WITH A MECANIC HE TOLD ME THE CAR ENGINE NEED TO BE REPLACED. DIDN'T BELIEVE HIM CAUSE I BROUGHT THE CAR 3 YRS AGO. BEFORE THE CAR DIE THE CHECK ENGINE TURN ON THAN DIE. THE SEATBELT TURN IN 1 MONTH AGO .NOW I HAVE 9000 LEFT ON THE CAR THE WON'T WRONG TAKE BACK AND THE DEALERSHIP WON'T MAKE A STRADES
VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, WHEN ENGINE SHUTS OFF COMPLETELY. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED OR ANYTHING. THE INDICATOR NEVER WENT UP TO HOT, THERE WAS NO STEAM FROM THE RADIATOR--ONLY A THICK CLOUD OF BLACK SMOKE COMING FROM BEHIND THE ENGINE. HAD IT TOWED TO THE REPAIR SHOP TO FIND OUT THAT ENGINE HAD COOKED ITSELF FROM THE INSIDE OUT AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE OIL AND FLUIDS WERE GOOD EXCEPT ALL THE COOLANT HAD BEEN BLOWN OUT AND THAT IT WAS A DEFECTIVE ENGINE. SPOKE TO SEVERAL DIFFERENT MECHANICS AND WERE TOLD THEY HAD ENCOUNTERED MANY OTHER KIA SORENTO THAT DID THE SAME THING. ENGINE WOULD SUDDENLY JUST STOP. I AM THE SECOND OWNER AND THEREFORE NOT COVERED UNDER THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE ENGINES AND/OR VEHICLES. IT IS GONNA COST ME OVER $5000 TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE!
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE SLIGHTLY UPHILL. AT ABOUT 55 MPH WHEN MY SORENTO BEGAN TO LOOSE POWER/SPEED. BEFORE I COULD PULL OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER SMOKE BEGAN COMING IN THROUGH THE A.C VENTS. WHEN I REACHED THE SHOULDER AND OPENED THE HOOD THE BACK RIGHT END OF THE MOTOR WAS ON FIRE FROM THE WIRING HARNESSES. I WAS ABLE TO PUT OUT THE FIRE. UPIN A MECHANIC LOOKING AT IT I WAS TOLD IT HAD THROWN A ROD AND MOST LIKELY THE FIRE.
'TAMARA RECALL' I WAS TRAVELING UP THE INTERSTATE SLIGHTLY UPHILL AT 55 MILES AN HOUR WHEN I BEGIN TO LOSE POWER\SPEED AND BEFORE I COULD GET IT TO THE SHOULDER IT LOST ALL POWER TO GATHER AND SMOKE STARTED COMING IN THE AC VENT WHEN I GOT IT STOPPED AND OPEN THE HOOD IT WAS BURNING AT THE BACK RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE MOTOR ON SOME WIRING HARNESS I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE FIRE OUT I LATER WAS TOLD THAT IT HAD THROWN A ROD AND WAS MOST LIKELY THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED KIA OF EAST SYRACUSE (6717 MANLIUS CENTER RD, EAST SYRACUSE, NY 13057, (315) 701-5898) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND THAT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS NEEDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.
OCS MAY DEFECTED. HAD IT SCANNED AND CODE B1764
I AM HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE FRONT DOORS ON THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE. THE DOORS ARE INOPERABLE AND DO NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. I HAVE TO OPEN THE BACK DOOR AND REACH INSIDE HANDLE TO OPEN THE FRONT DOORS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I WORRY THAT EVENTUALLY ALL OF THE DOORS WILL STOP WORKING. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. APPARENTLY, THERE IS A PLASTIC MECHANISM INSIDE THE DOOR FRAME THAT FAILS AT SOME POINT. MY WIFE CONTACTED KIA CONCERNING THE ISSUE AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL AT THIS TIME. THE DEALERSHIP HAS QUOTED OVER $300 TO REPAIR ONE DOOR. THIS SHOULD NOT COST THE CONSUMER AS THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MANUFACTURER DEFECT. PLEASE PROVIDE ASSISTANCE WITH THIS MATTER. THANK YOU.
MY DAUGHTER IS 21 YEARS OLDS AND SHE PURCHASED 2011 KIA SORENTO FROM PETE'S KAR SMART KIA IN AMARILLO. SHE GOES TO COLLEGE IN LINCOLN NEBRASKA AND HER CAR IS NOT HOLDING OIL. SHE HAS ON 2 OCCASIONS IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME HAD HER OIL LIGHT COME ON AND WHEN SHE CHECKED THE OIL IT WAS BONE DRY. THIS IS BETWEEN OIL CHANGES. WE CAN GET NO RESOLUTION FROM KIA AS SHE HAS TAKEN IT TO KIA IN AMARILLO AND IN LINCOLN. I HAVE GOOGLED THIS ISSUE FOR THIS PARTICULAR YEAR AND THEIR HAVE BEEN SEVERAL COMMENTS FROM OTHERS SHARING THE SAME ISSUE WITH 2011 KIA NOT HOLDING OIL. I AM CONCERNED FOR MY DAUGHTER'S SAFETY. IF SHE BREAKS DOWN ON SHE SIDE OF THE ROAD DUE THIS ISSUE AS SHE HAS TO DRIVE 10 HOURS TO COME HOME. PLEASE CONSIDER INVESTIGATING AND REVIEWING THIS ISSUE. THE ENGINE STARTED MAKING NOISE AND LOCKED UP, CHECKED WITH KIA ON RECALLS DUES TO I'VE SEEN SO MANY, AND AFTER TRYING TO FIND ONE AT MANY ENGINE SHOPS, THEY HAVE NONE AT THE TIME BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY WERE IN HIGH DEMAND RIGHT NOW. THE 2.4 IS FAILING, AND THE ONLY RECALL IS ON THE 2.4 TDI, BUT I HIGHLY BELIEVE KIA HAS TO BE AWARE OF THIS. MOTOR LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AND ALMOST CAUSED ME TO BE REAR ENDED.
MY BACK PASSENGER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. I PUT MY TWO GRANDSONS IN THE VEHICLE ONE ON EACH SIDE PUT THE SAFETY LOCKS ON THE NEXT DAY THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE OR OUTSIDE
ENGINE LIGHT IS ON, KEEPS STALLING OUT AT A STOP OR WHEN TURNING, SMELLS LIKE SOMETHING BURNING, NOW MAKING A ROUGH GRINDING NOISE FROM MOTOR. KEEPS GOING THROUGH OIL, PUTTING TWO QUARTS OF OIL IN EVERY OTHER DAY. PASSENGER SIDE DOOR IN BACK WONT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT KEEPS BLOWING OUT, THE TIRES ON THE FRONT END KEEP GOING BOLD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE PRODUCED A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING 35-48 MPH, A DEER JUMPED OUT INTO THE STREET. THE CONTACT SWERVED AND CRASHED INTO A GUARDRAIL. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO FUCCILLO KIA (3900 STATE ST, SCHENECTADY, NY 12304, (518) 847-0800) WHERE THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE CONTACT SHOULD HAVE THE VEHICLE SERVICED AT THE DEALER'S COLLISION SHOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO HAVE THE BODY DAMAGE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM EITHER THE OUTSIDE NOR THE INSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY WHEN ISSUE WAS NOTICED.
THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. YOU CAN REACH ACROSS THE INSIDE OF THE CAR AND OPEN.
ENGINE SHUT OFF WHILE CAR MOVING. NO INDICATION NO LIGHTS ACROSS DASH AND LOST ALL POWER.
DOORS ARE NOT OPENING FROM THE INSIDE NOR OUTSIDE. DOOR HANDLE BROKE ON ONE DOOR WHEN OPENING.
DOOR LATCH PROBLEM, WON'T OPEN FROM INSIDE, AND THEN WON'T OPEN ON OUTSIDE. IT HAS BEEN A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS KIA, FOUND A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVE SAME ISSUES. YOU UNLOCK THE DOOR AND DOOR LATCH WON'T UNLOCK THE DOOR . IT WILL NOT OPEN. SO YOU HAVE TO GO OUTSIDE TO OPEN . THE SECOND SIMILAR PROBLEM. DOOR UNLOCKED, BUT YOU CAN'T OPEN THE DOOR, THIS SAME ISSUES HAPPENED ON DRIVER'S SIDE!
FOUND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS TO ONLY WORK INTERMITTENTLY WHEN I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WITH 85,000 MILES ON IT. NOW MY VEHICLE HAS ALMOST 100,000 MILES AND THE WIPERS ONLY WORK ON HIGH AND OCCASIONALLY DON'T EVEN WORK AT ALL WHEN IT RAINS WHEN DRIVING. THIS HAS MADE THE CARE SCARY TO DRIVE AND WE DON'T DRIVE IT WHEN IT RAINS. BROUGHT THE CAR IN THE KIA AND THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AS WELL.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON YESTERDAY...AND SUSPENSION WHILE DRYING TRIALS YOU OVER IN LEFT LANE IF YOU HIT A BUMP
PASSENGER DOOR FRONT AND REAR DO NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. A VERY LARGE KNOWN ISSUE FROM KIA SORENTOS, MAINLY 2011 THAT KIA WANTS ME TO PAY 668.00 PER DOOR FOR A 1.50 PIECE. THIS ISSUE IN MY MIND IS A SAFETY ISSUE BUT THEY DO NOT AGREE. I HAVE A FEAR ALL 4 OF DOORS MAY HAVE THIS ISSUE AT SOME TIME. CLEARLY AFTER LOOKING AT GOOGLE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THE SAME. HE SAID HE HAS FIXED HUNDREDS OF THESE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE WHEELS SUDDENLY LOCKED-UP WITH THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF ALL FOUR WHEELS LOCKED-UP OR JUST THE FRONT WHEELS. THE WHEELS RELEASED HOWEVER, WHEN THE CONTACT TRIED TO DRIVE BACK TO HIS RESIDENCE, THE WHEELS LOCKED-UP AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ATLANTA WEST KIA (1301 THORNTON RD, LITHIA SPRINGS, GA 30122, (833)953-0189) WHERE THE MECHANIC PERFORMED AN OIL CHANGE AND INSPECTED THE FAILURE FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DTC FAULT CODE WAS CLEARED AND SENT THE CONTACT HOME. THE ISSUE RECURRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER UNKNOWN DEALER. THE MECHANIC DUPLICATED THE FAILURE AND RETRIEVED A CODE FOR A FAILURE OF THE HYDRAULIC ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT (HECU) PRESSURE SENSOR AND ABS UNIT. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIRS WERE COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HOWEVER, THE DEALER RETURNED AND STATED THAT THE REPAIRS WERE NOT COVERED. THE CONTACT TOWED THE VEHICLE TO A THIRD UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE THE VEHICLE REMAINED UNREPAIRED. THE MECHANIC WAS FINALLY ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AS WITH THE ABS SYSTEM AND QUOTED THE COST TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 156,000.
SO THIS MORNING I'M JUST HEADING TO WORK AND MY KIA START A LIMP MODE WHICH IT STOP IN MIDDLE OF A HIGHWAY AND THEIR WHERE KIDS IN THE CAR IT HAS A BUNCH OF LIGHT ON
MY VEHICLE HAS CONTINUOUSLY MELTED WIRING HARNESS AFTER WIRING HARNESS THAT RUN MY HEADLIGHTS. NOT SURE IF THIS HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION OR STATIONARY, I JUST NOTICE IT WHEN I AM DOWN TO ONE HEADLIGHT. THIS HAS BECOME VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE I CONSTANTLY HAVE TO DRIVE IN THE DARK WITH ONE HEADLIGHT. ALSO IT REALLY SCARES ME THAT MY VEHICLE IS MELTING WIRES THAT CONNECT TO OTHER WIRES THAT COULD EASILY CAUSE A FIRE!
CAR STALLS AND JERKS WHEN DRIVING.WHEN PLACING IN DRIVE IT TAKES OFF VERY SLOW AND UNDER POWER.WHILE DRIVING THE CAR CHANGED GEARS ON ITS OWN EVEN JERKING HARD.
FRONT INSIDE DOOR HANDLES CHROME PEAL OFF CAUSING CUTS ON HANDS.
LAST WEEK THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON IN MY CAR AND APPARENTLY IT IS THE COIL SPRING IN THE STEERING WHEEL. FROM WHAT WE HAVE DONE OUR RESEARCH ON, THIS IS COMMON FOR THIS VEHICLE BUT IS NOT A RECALL. I DO BELIEVE THAT IF THE IS OCCURING IN SEVERAL OF THESE MODELS, IT SHOULD BE A RECALL. THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE AIRBAGS MAY NOT DEPLOY IF THE CAR IS WRECKED. I WOULD APPRECIATE PROPER CHANGE FOR THIS TO BE A RECALL.

REAR PARKING BRAKES NEVER WORKED. USING MY SHIFT GEAR FOR PARKING . NOW FRONT DOOR IS NOT OPENING FROM OUTSIDE. WENT TO FORUM ON INTERNET ABOUT THIS ISSUE. THOUSANDS OF KIA SORENTO 2011 OWNERS HAS SAME ISSUE WITH THE DOOR. IF WE GO TO KIA, THEY CHARGE $400 FOR ONE DOOR LOCK! CRAZY! SO MANY KIA OWNERS DON,T WANT A KIA ANYMORE. ME EITHER
I OWN A 2011 SORENTO (NOT A GDI ENGINE) THAT EXPERIENCED A SPUN ROD BEARING AND ENGINE FAILURE (ENGINE LIMP). MY SONS WERE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN OUR KIA SORENTO WHEN WITHOUT ANY WARNING, THE ENGINE FAILED. THANKFULLY, MY SONS WERE ABLE TO SAFELY TRANSITION OFF THE HIGHWAY THROUGH HIGH-SPEED TRAFFIC IN "LIMP MODE". MY SONS WERE QUICKLY ABLE TO FIND ONLINE COMPLAINTS AND DIAGNOSTICS DUPLICATING WHAT THEY HAD JUST EXPERIENCED - SPUN ROD BEARING. I WAS INSTRUCTED BY KIA CORPORATE THAT I SHOULD TOW MY VEHICLE TO A KIA DEALER FOR OFFICIAL DIAGNOSTICS ($140). THE DEALER CONFIRMED THE CAR EXPERIENCE A SPUN ROD BEARING AND ENGINE FAILURE REQUIRING A $6,500 ENGINE REPLACEMENT. IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT MY MODEL IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE KIA ENGINE RECALL. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE RECALL LIMITS WHEN THE ROD BEARING DEFECT CAUSES THE ENGINE FAILURE REGARDLESS OF THE ENGINE TYPE.
I WAS TRAVELING ON A HEY, MAKING A LEFT TURN ONTO A MAJOR HEY, WHEN MY CAR WOULD NOT EXCELLERATE. I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE HEY BUT MY CAR WOULD NOT GO OVER FOUR MILES PER HOUR. I HAD IT TOWED TO MY MACHANIC, HE SAID THE PRONGS BROKE OFF THE THING THAT PLUGS INTO THE COMPUTER, DUE TO CORROSION. SO I HAD IT TOWED TO KIA. THEY SAY I NEED A NEW COMPUTER & IT WILL COST, $5000.00. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL. WHY CAN'T THEY INSTALL A NEW PLUG & PLUG BACK INTO THE COMPUTER? I'M BEING RIPPED OFF!
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE THEIR IS A PASSENGER IN THE CAR WITH THEIR SEATBELT IS ON WHILE THE VECHICLE IS BEING OPERATED.
HEADLAMPS QUIT WORKING, EVEN THOUGH I HAVE REPEATEDLY REPLACED. HAPPENS ABOUT 1 EVERY THREE WEEKS. USUALLY HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY DURING NIGHT DRIVING.
MY SORENTO MAKES A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN I HIT A BUMP, POTHOLE AND WHEN. PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. OR TURNING THE WHEEL AT SCHOOL CIRCLE DROP OFF. I TOOK CAR TO TWO DIFFERENT GARAGES. THE MECHANIC TEST DROVE AND CHECKED FRONTEND OF CAR HE COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING. HE FOUND VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN.SC 082A IT SAY THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT NEED REPLACED. IT DRIVE GOOD BUT, IT SOUNDS LIKE ITS GONNA FALL APART. THE NOSIE IS GETTING WORSE. MY CAR WAS BUILT JUNE 4TH 2010. THE VOLUNTARY SERVICE IS BETWEEN OCT23 2009-MAY22 2010. COULD I PLEASE HAVE MY CAR ADDED BY EXTENDED THE CAMPAIGN SERVICE. SC 082A. APRIL 2011. I HAVE A SERVICE APPOINTMENT ON APRIL 4TH TO GET THREE OTHER RECALLS TO GET FIXED.
I AM NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE IF IT WILL BE COVERED OR NOT. MOST LIKELY IT WILL NOT BE COVERED BECAUSE THE CS1603 CAN ONLY BE COMPLETED ONCE, AND ONLY UNDER THE 5 YEARS/ 60,000 MILE WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE IS CONSIDERED OUT OF WARRANTY BY THE YEAR AS IT GOES BY THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY START DATE OF 06/04/2011. HOWEVER, WE CAN LOOK INTO POSSIBLE GOODWILL ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR THAT IS NEEDED. OF COURSE I AM NOT ABLE TO GUARANTEE ANYTHING UPFRONT. NOW, EVERY SO OFTEN, THE ONLY DOOR LOCK, WHERE YOU CAN PUT A KEY IN, YOU TURN THE KEY, AND NOTHING HAPPENS. THEN YOU TURN THE KEY AGAIN AND THE FRONT AND BACK DOOR LOCKS WILL UNLOCK. TAKA RECALL- VECHICLE HAS STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY/STREETS WHILE DRIVING SEVERAL TIMES, EXAMPLE I COULD BE IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING AND THE CAR JUST COMPLETELY SLOWS DOWN, ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS WHICH CAN BE VERY SERIOUS. KIA HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL WHICH IS SAD DUE TO THE MANY COMPLAINTS AND LIFE THREADING SITUATIONS THIS HAS PUT PEOPLE IN. I'M IN THE PROCESS OF HIRING AND ATTORNEY TO LOOK INTO THIS BECAUSE NO ONE IS GIVING ME ANSWERS. A CAM SENSOR MELTED, THERE WERE PIECES OF PLASTIC ON THE SPARK PLUGS, AND ALL MECHANICS WE TALKED TO HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS. THEY INITIALLY THOUGHT THAT IT WAS THE EXHAUST VVT SOLENOIDS, BUT AS THEY INSPECTED FURTHER THEY REALIZED SOMETHING ELSE WAS MAJORLY WRONG. WE WERE ON A ROAD TRIP WHEN THIS HAPPENED AND HAVE BEEN STRANDED FOR 4 DAYS BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE ONLY SOLUTION THEY FOUND IS TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THE SYMPTOMS SEEM TO BE CONSISTENT WITH THE NHTSA CAMPAIGNS #11V258000 AND #17V224000 AFTER DISCUSSING WITH THE MECHANICS WE'VE WORKED WITH. SEE ATTACHED IMAGE OF MELTED CAM SENSOR.
EVERY TIME I CHANGED THE OIL, I NOTICED IT WAS NOT THE SAME AS USED OIL COMING FROM MY OTHER VEHICLES. ENGINE PROBLEMS STARTED APPROXIMATELY 3 YEARS AGO. I WAS CONSTANTLY CHECKING THE OIL AND NEEDING TO ADD. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE KIA DEALER WHERE WE BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY SAID THE OIL WAS BURNING UP IN THE MOTOR. IT WAS GETTING HOT. I RAN TWO FLUSHES ON THE MOTOR AND THEN CONTINUED MY REGULAR OIL CHANGES. IN FEBRUARY OF 2019 THE MOTOR SEIZED UP AND QUIT WHILE BEING DRIVEN ON CITY STREETS. I DRAINED 4.5 QUARTS OF OIL FROM THE VEHICLE AFTER IT WAS TOWED. I HEARD ABOUT THE RECALL ON VARIOUS YEARS OF KIA/HYUNDAI MOTORS AND THOUGHT THIS MIGH BE THE PROBLEM WITH MY 2011 SORENTO.
I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY IN PA, RT. 83 AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE THE NEXT THING THAT HAPPENED WAS NO POWER WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL. I GOT IT TOWED TO MY GARAGE AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE ACCELERATOR POSITION SENSOR. I GOT IT REPLACED. TWO WEEKS LATER IT HAPPENED AGAIN. I WAS SMART ENOUGH TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. IMAGINE IF I KEEP DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. NO ACCELERATION. I WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. RT. 83 IS ONE OF THE WORST HIGHWAYS IN SOUTH CENTRAL PENNSYLVANIA FOR TRACKER TRAILER ACCIDENTS. THIS SORENTO IS A 2011 AND ONLY 55,900 MILE. WHAT YHE HECK. TWICE IN A MONTH. I WANT THIS ON RECORD BECAUSE IF THIS VEHICLE CAUSES ME TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT THAT KILLS ME, KIA IS LIABLE. I ONLY PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN OCTOBER 2018. I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE. HAD IT IN THE DEALERSHIP FOR FAULTY DOOR HANDLE WHICH IS A KNOWN PROBLEM BUT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HAD DEALERSHIP RUN DIAGNOSTICS WHICH OF COURSE I HAD TO PAY FOR AND THEY CLAIMED IT WAS READING A CPU ERROR AND THE BOARD SHOULD BE REPLACED $1,400. LOTS OF RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE, DON'T SEE MYSELF BUYING ANOTHER KIA.
THE CONTROL OPTION FUNCTIONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL FAIL. CRUISE CONTROL, RADIO, AND PHONE BUTTONS ALL HAVE FAILED.
A FEW MONTHS AGO MY REAR BRAKES SUDDENLY STARTED MAKING NOISE. I MAINTAIN MY VEHICLES VERY WELL SO I WAS SURPRISED IT HAPPENED SO SUDDENLY. WHEN I TOOK IT IN THEY TOLD ME THE CALIPERS HAD SLIPPED AND MY BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDED REPLACING. I NOTICED A LEAK IN MY GARAGE AS WELL. NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL OR WARNING NOTICE FROM KIA. WHEN I ENTERED MY VIN MY VEHICLE DOESN'T FALL UNDER THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. I DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE THIS UNTIL I WAS LOOKING FOR A RECALL 9N A DIFFERENT ISSUE.
I HAVE BEEN A KIA CUSTOMER FOR OVER 7 YEARS AND ARE ON OUR THIRD VEHICLE FROM THEM. TRADED MY KIA FORTE FOR 2011 SORENTO IN 2016. IT HAS HAD A LOT OF ISSUES WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM AND IT COST $1,200 TO FIX IT. RECENTLY ON JAN 25TH MY TIMING CHAIN BROKE AND ALSO RUINED THE ENGINE. NOW TOLD THAT I NEED NEW ENGINE FOR $5.100. I HAVE LEARNED OF MANY RECALLS ON SORENTO ENGINE MOTOR BUT STARTING FOR THE YEAR 2012.
