WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 35-45 MPH THE TACHOMETER WILL DROP TO 0 AND THE SORENTO WILL LUNGE OR BUCK, HESITATE AND WILL NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION. THE ENGINE LIGHT FLASHES AND SOMETIMES STAYS ON. ONE TIME I ACCELERATED TO PASS, IT RESPONDED BUT STOPPED MIDWAY THRU THE PASS, DECELLED BACK TO 20 MPH. I COULD NOT COMPLETE MY PASS AND HAD TO FALL BACK BEHIND THE SLOWER VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN BY KIA # SC106 BUT NO DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGES IT. THERE IS 130,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE.

WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO 10 MPH; HOWEVER, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TURNER KIA (4201 CHAMBERS HILL RD, HARRISBURG, PA 17111, (717) 564-2240) WHERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE MIGHT BE FAULTY. AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME IT SEAMS THERE ARE NUMEROUS COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS ISSUE IVE ALREADY READ ABOUT 20 POSTED ON THE INTERNET. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS WHEN THE LIGHT IS ON THE AIR BAG SYSTEM IS NOT FUNCTIONAL. THE LIGHT TURNS ON WHEN I STAR THE CAR THEN GOES OF FOR 2 SECONDS AND STAYS ON ALL THE TIME UNTIL I SHUT DOWN THE CAR. IVE DONE ALL THE QUICK CHECKS LIKE LOSE CONNECTIONS TO NO AVAIL. ON LINE THE MOST COMMON PROBLEM SEAMS TO IN THE PASSENGER SIDE SENSOR MAT. I PROBLEM THAT COST AROUND $2000 TO HAVE FIXED. I FEEL THE PROBLEM IS SAFETY RELATED AND THE MANUFACTURER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ISSUE
THE WIRING HARNESS FOR THE PASSANGER SIDE HEADLIGHT KEEPS MELTING. I HAVE REPLACED IT SEVERAL TIMES AND IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING STRAIGHT WITHOUT ANY OBSTRUCTIONS (BRIDGE, ETC.) IN SIGHT. WITHOUT WARNING THE FRONT SUNROOF OF MY CAR EXPLODED, SHATTERING THE GLASS. NO DEBRIS HIT THE CAR TO CAUSE THE DAMAGE. THERE WAS NO CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE THROUGHOUT THE DAY TO CAUSE TEMPERATURE STRESS ON THE GLASS. IT EXPLODED WITHOUT CAUSE. HAD THE CLOTH COVER NOT BEEN COVERING IT AT THAT MOMENT, THE GLASS WOULD HAVE FALLEN DIRECTLY ON TOP OF ME.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO RETRIEVE SOME PACKAGES FROM THE REAR SEAT OF THE VEHICLE, THE EXTERIOR HANDLE WAS PULLED AND A PIECE OF THE HANDLE ASSEMBLY DETACHED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED TO THE REAR PASSENGER DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE, AND THEN THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR IS TRYING TO DO THE SAME AT TIMES. I BABYSIT AND THIS COULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD FOR PEOPLE WITH SMALL CHILDREN. ALSO WHAT IF SOMETHING MAJOR WAS WRONG AND I NEEDED TO IMMEDIATELY GET INTO MY CAR, FROM WHAT I HAVE READ THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM A F WILL PROBABLY RESULT IN THE DOOR EVENTUALLY NOT BEING ABLE TO OPEN AT ALL. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE.
VEHICLES CAUGHT FIRE, HAD PULLED IN THE PARKING LOT AT WORK AND SMOKE BEGAN TO COME FROM UNDER THE HOOD ON THE VEHICLE. WITHIN SECONDS FLAMES HAD ERUPTED AND FRONT END OF CAR WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED BY THE TIME THE FIRE DEPARTMENT HAD ARRIVED. VEHICLE WAS A TOTAL LOSS.
MOTOR MOUNTS ARE BROKE. I NEED TO REPLACE 3 OF THEM. THIS ISN'T NORMAL AT ALL. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN WRECKED. THE PAINT KEEPS PEELING OFF. I REPAINTED 1 X ON AN AREA, KIA IS AWARE. I TOOK TO THEM AND THEY SAID KIA WASN'T RESPONSIBLE (BUT , I DISAGREE). I PAID OVER 30,000 FOR THIS KIA.. , BODY SHOP COULDN'T GUARANTEE DUE TO THE PAINT JOB KIA DID ON MY AUTOMOBILE. NOW THE PAINT IS PEELING ON OTHER SPOTS.
I AM ISSUING A COMPLAINT BECAUSE THERE ARE TONS OF REPORTS ABOUT MY MAKE/MODEL CATCHING FIRE AND STEERING ISSUES. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY CAR, ESPECIALLY WITH MY SON IN THE CAR WITH ME. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE, OR THESE CARS NEED TO BE DISCONTINUED!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE LOWER RADIATOR HOSE FRACTURED AND ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. AN UNKNOWN DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED A COST ESTIMATE TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING DOWN THE STREET WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY LOCKED UP(STOPPED) AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. SHE NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THEN WITHIN MINUTES THE ENGINE WAS IN COMPLETE FLAMES. PRIOR TO THIS THERE WHERE NEVER ANY SIGNS OF THE CAR RUNNING OR DRIVING LIKE THERE WHERE GOING TO BE PROBLEMS. I'VE NEVER HAD ANY MECHANICAL ISSUES AT ALL ASIDE FROM THIS INCIDENT. THIS HAS COME COMPLETELY OUT OF NOWHERE UNEXPECTEDLY.
DASHBOARD CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATES THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLES AIR BAGS. LIGHT IS ON WHEN THE IGNITION IS ON OR THE ENGINE IS ON. THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS DRIVING HE VEHICLE BUT UNSURE IF AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT.
WAS DRIVING FELT LIKE I HIT SOMETHING AND THE CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO ANY OTHER GEAR. I STOPPED PUT IT IN PARK AND NO CHANGE AFTER WORK,8 HOURS LATER, THE CAR RAN FINE. IT HAD BEEN SHIFTING ROUGH FOR A WHILE, AT OR AROUND 50MPH, IT WOULD JERK THE WHOLE CAR LIKE IT WAS SHIFTING UP OR DOWN
Kia Sorento 2011 LX 2.4L Oil disappears weekly, I have to check it often and/or refill. I use the required oil it calls for on the engine oil cap. Vehicle jolts while driving. I've been parked with vehicle off, turned it on, reversed from parking spot and about an tenth of a mile vehicle stalled, put it in park, and restarted. While driving headlights flicker Tapping/knocking noise from engine area, checked oil and its full, mechanic can't seem to find issue. Some forums have suggested throttl control module?
THERE WAS A REPLACEMENT OF THE PASSENGER CV AXLE. IT WAS AFTERMARKET AND NOT OEM. I HAD TO REPLACE THE FRONT LOW BEAM WIRING HARNESS AND BULBS AT MY OWN COST TWICE. ONCE IN FLORIDA AND ANOTHER IN MY HOME STATE. ALSO THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT ISN'T WORKING PROPERLY. THEY SENT ME THE RECALLS ON BOTH. THEN PROCEEDED TO SAY THAT THE RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS UNDER RECALL. ALSO IF I COULD NOT GET OR FIND MY RECEIPTS FROM THE MECHANIC SHOP. I WOULD NOT GET REIMBURSED. KIA HAS BEEN KNOWING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS! ON TOP OF THE CV AXLE THIS IS TOO MUCH. IT IS DAMAGING MY TRANSMISSION AS WE SPEAK. MY BRAKES ARE VERY SPONGEY.
THE BACKUP CAMERA STARTED TO BECOME DISTORTED THEN COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING
ABS LIGHT CAME ON AROUND 120,000 MILES. BELIEVE IT IS CAUSING ISSUES FOR STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS. LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF. CLOCK SPRING SENSOR BAD. REPAIRS ESTIMATED AT $2,000. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, WILL AIR BAGS DEPLOY AT ALL???? WHY IS THIS NOT RECALLED??? READ MANY COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME ISSUE.
ALL OF A SUDDEN ALL MY INTERIOR DASH LIGHTS AND HEADLIGHTS STARTED BLINKING WHILE THE CAR WAS RUNNING. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND IT CONTINUED, TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND IT WAS STILL GOING. THEN THE FLICKERING RANDOMLY STOPPED. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY IN MY DRIVEWAY.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME MY CAR JOLTS WHEN I AM DRIVING. DOES NOT MATTER HOW FAST I AM GOING. IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR GETS REALLY SLUGGISH AND IT JOLTS BEFORE ACCELERATION, IT HAPPENED ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO AND THE DEALERSHIP MADE ME PAY $600 TO CHANGE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD CLAIMING THAT IT WOULD FIX THAT ISSUE AND IT DID NOT. AFTER THAT IT KEPT DOING THE SAME THING AND I LOOK IT UP ONLINE AND SAW THAT PEOPLE WERE SAYING TO REQUEST FOR A TRANSMISSION UPDATE, SO I WENT BACK AND THEY DID THAT AND IT "FIXED" THE ISSUE. THAT TIME MY ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AND CAME BACK ON EVEN AFTER THEY FIXED THE SUPPOSED ISSUE. THIS TIME THERE'S NO ENGINE LIGHT ON AND THE CAR JOLTS EVEN HARDER. I HAVE SEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ONLINE I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY CAR DOES NOT SHOW AS A RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING NOW FOR A FEW DAYS AND THE JOLTING JUST GETS WORSE EVERY TIME I DRIVE. LAST NIGHT WHEN I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 40 MPH IT DID IT AND AGAIN AFTER 50MPH IT WAS VERY SCARY.

2011 KIA SORENTO - WHILE DRIVING, THE GEARS IN MY CAR STOPPED WORKING AND MADE A TERRIBLE LOUD NOISE. DESCRIPTION OF VEHICLES IS MINE. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME: SB082B - RECALL TO REPLACE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT. RECALL: 11V258000 RECALL DATE 04/25/2011 COMPONENT POWER TRAIN:DRIVELINE:DRIVESHAFT SUMMARY KIA IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 SORENTO 2WD VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS AND 2.4L ENGINES MANUFACTURED FROM THE START OF PRODUCTION THROUGH MAY 22, 2010. THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT MAY SUFFER FROM NOISE AND EXCESSIVE WEAR DUE TO A MISALIGNMENT OF THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WITH THE RIGHT SIDE OUTPUT GEAR. CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION LEADS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF A WHIRRING/WHINING NOISE AND CAN EVENTUALLY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. CONSEQUENCE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION MAY CAUSE LOSS OF MOTIVE POWER, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. WHAT OWNERS SHOULD DO DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE RIGHT SIDE OUTPUT GEAR AND INTERMEDIATE SHAFT FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MAY 2011. OWNERS MAY CONTACT KIA AT 1-800-333-4542. **I SUBMITTED A CASE TO KIA #12833214, AFTER 10 DAYS I DIDN'T GET A REPLY SO I CALLED THEM. I SPOKE TO HALEY AND SHE ADVISED MY CAR WAS NOT MANUFACTURED IN A LOCATION THAT HAD THIS ISSUE. I THINK KIA GOT THIS WRONG. MY CAR OBVIOUSLY HAD THE EXACT PROBLEM THEY ARE STATING AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY KIA FREE OF CHARGE. INSTEAD, I HAD TO PAY $635 TO REPLACE THE EXACT PART THIS RECALL WAS ON. VERY ROUGH START IN THE MORNING OR AFTER SITTING OFF FOR OVER 2 HOURS. AFTER 30 SECONDS ENGINE NOISE REDUCED DRAMATICALLY. STEERING CONTROL MALFUNCTION SOMETIMES. MAKING UP DOW BUTTON ACT ERRATICALY ALONG CRUISE CONTROL AND RADIO CONTROL. BLUETOOTH CONNECTION SOUND QUALITY VERY POOR.
SINCE I BOUGHT THE 2011 KIA SORENTO THE TRANSMISSION OR ENGINE TENDS TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING LIKE NOT CHANGING GEARS, GETS LOCKED, JERKS BACK AND FORTH TILL IT UNLOCKS OR CHANGES GEARS WHILE AT THE SAME TIME SLOWING OR STOPPING CAR IN IT'S TRACKS. TWICE I HAVE HIT MY HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL, HAVE HAD SEAT BELTS LOCK TIGHT AGAINST ME AND MY PASSENGERS WHEN IT LOCKS WHILE TRYING TO CHANGE GEARS. IT HAPPENS AT LEAST 3-6 TIME A YEAR SINCE I HAVE HAD THE CAR. I HAVE REPORTED IT TO MY SERVICE DEALERSHIP KEARNY PEARSON KIA, 7303 CLAIREMONT MESA BLVD, SAN DIEGO, CA 92111 AND THEY HAVE NOT FOUND ANYTHING WRONG. THESE PAST TWO YEARS THE GEARS LOCKING IS GETTING WORSE AND THE CAR SLOWS DOWN INSTANTLY FROM DRIVING ON THE FRWY 65 MPH DOWN TO 35 MPH INSTANTLY ALMOST HAVING CARS HIT ME FROM BEHIND. SAME FOR DRIVING ON THE STREET GOING 35-40 MPH DROPPING TO 5-10MPH AND STOP/JERK/GO/STOP/JERK AND ALMOST HAVING CARS BEHIND ME CRASH INTO ME. I HAVE BEEN BLESSED TO HAVE HAD FAST REACTING DRIVERS BEHIND ME OR NO DRIVERS. THIS LAST INCIDENT LAST MONTH WAS SO POWERFUL THAT I SMACKED THE STEERING WHEEL AND THOUGHT I HAD GOTTEN HIT BUT DIDN'T. MY CHEST GOT TIGHT AS IF I WAS HAVING A HEART ATTACK FROM THE FORCE AND MY KIDS CRIED FROM THE WHIPLASH. THIS WAS YET THE STRONGEST. ALSO, SINCE 2011 I HAVE HAD 7 - 10 INCIDENTS OF SMOKE COMING OUT OF THE AIR VENTS, SMILING LIKE FIRE. I TURN OFF THE VENT AND IT CONTINUES FOR 10MIN THEN GOES AWAY. I AM NO MECHANIC BUT IF I HAD TO GUESS I WOULD SAY SOMETHING WITH THE AIR-CONDITIONING BEING HIGH FOR LONG PERIODS AND THEN WHEN IT GETS TURNED DOWN OR OFF SEEMS TO ACTIVATE THESE THINGS ESPECIALLY THE GEARS LOCKING. JUST MY OBSERVATION. I HOPE YOU CAN GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS BECAUSE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND THOSE WITH ME OR AROUND ME WITH THIS CAR. YOU JUST DON'T KNOW WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN NEXT.
MY BRAKE LAMP SWITCH/ STOPLIGHT SWITCH APPEARS TO BE FAULTY OR FAILING, AS MY BRAKE LAMPS ARE NOT LIGHTNING UP WHEN I PRESS MY BRAKE PEDAL, NOR WILL MY CAR GO INTO PARK OR REVERSE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IF IT'S WHEN I FIRST CRANK THE CAR, THEN IT WILL NOT GO OUT OF PARK WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED. ALSO, THE ESC LIGHT AND THE DBC LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THIS HAPPENS. MY PEDAL/GEAR SHIFTER WON'T MAKE THE CLICKING VIBRATION NOISE THAT CAN EVEN BE FELT IN MY FOOT AND HAND IN ORDER TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO A GEAR OR OUT OF GEAR. THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN KIAS AND I DO SEE A RECALL THAT WAS FOR 2006-2011 KIA SORENTO VEHICLES. MY VIN IS NOT SHOWING AS PART OF THE RECALL, BUT I'M HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM, AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE I CAN BE REAR-ENDED AND EVEN KILLED IN AN MVA WITH NO BRAKE LAMPS. KIA SHOULD COVER THIS REPLACEMENT FOR ME.

HEADLIGHTS DONT WORK. KEPT TEPLACING BULBS AND STILL DONT WORK. BRAKE LIGHTS SAME ISSUE, TEPLACE BULBS AND LIGHTS DONT WORK. VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS WITH ELECTRICAL. IVE HAD TO REPLACE THE RADIO 3 TIMES, THE ENGINITION HAD TO BE REPLACED. SINCE IVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE I'VE HAD BACK TO THE GARAGE MULTIPLE TIMES FOR REPAIRS AND KEPT TELLING THEM THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM BUT THEY DONT WANT TO ADMIT IT.
MY TRANSMISSION ISN'T SHIFTING PROPERLY I CANT EVEN REVERSE 1ST 2ND AND PART OF 3RD GEARS ARE ROUGH SHIFTING. ITS ALSO CAUSING IT TO MAKE A CLUNKING SOUND IN THE REAR AXEL ALSO WONT SHIFT WHILE TURNING.
(1)TRANSMISSION GOT STUCK IN 2ND GEAR WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. TRANSMISSION WOULD "JUMP" EVERY TIME THE CAR HIT 50MHP. COULD NOT REPLICATE AFTER SITTING IN DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT. (2)ABS LIGHT IS CONSTANTLY ON-TOLD IT IS A CLOCK SPRING. KIA NOT WORRIED ABOUT IT. (3) DOORS STICK-DRIVERS DOOR WILL LOCK ITSELF AND CANNOT OPEN FROM OUTSIDE. THIS HAPPENED 3X WHILE CAR IS RUNNING AND I EXITED TO GET MAIL. FRONT PASSENGER WILL NOT CLOSE- HAVE TO KNOCK HANDLE TO CLOSE. (4)BACKUP CAMERA INTERMITTENT. (5)BLUETOOTH DOES NOT PAIR WITH PHONE-INTERMITTENT. (6) GAS DOOR STICKS- MUST HIT RELEASE BUTTON DOZENS OF TIMES BEFORE IT OPENS. (7) TIRE PRESSURE GUAGES BROKEN.
HAVE PROBLEMS SHIFTING INTO GEAR, TOOK IT TO REPAIR STATION AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT WHEN IT HAPPENS YOU ARE STUCK WHERE YOUR AT. THE SHIFTER GETS VERY STIFF OR HARD AND WON'T GO INTO GEAR.
MY 2011 KIA SORENTO HAS BEEN TROUBLE FROM DAY ONE. A WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT IT, THE WIRING HARNESS HAD TO BE REPLACED WHICH TOOK OVER A MONTH TO GET THE PART FROM KIA. THEN AT 90,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION STARTED FAILING AND IT TOOK ME FOREVER TO GET KIA TO REPLACE THAT. THEN THE REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION WENT BAD LESS THAN A YEAR LATER AND THEY REPLACED THAT. NOW, AT 120,000 MILES (OUT OF WARRANTY) THE MOTOR HAS DIED. GRINDSTAFF KIA IN JOHNSON CITY, TN TELLS ME IT IS A 'INTERNAL FAILURE' OF THE MOTOR, IT COULD BE A ROD OR CAM, BUT THEY WOULD NOT KNOW UNLESS THEY TOOK THE MOTOR APART. KIA'S PRODUCT IS TERRIBLE AND A SAFETY HAZARD. WHEN THE MOTOR STOPPED MY HUSBAND WAS IN 65 MILE AN HOUR TRAFFIC AND COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED WHEN IT STARTED TO LOOSE POWER AND THEN THE STARTER STUCK AND WIRES STARTED SMOKING WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED A FIRE. MY MOTOR WAS A 4 CYLINDER 2.4 LITER ENGINE THAT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BY KIA FOR FAILURES. THEY WANT TO CHAGE ME $5500 PLUS TAX TO PUT ANOTHER ENGINE IN THE JUNK, WHICH TO ME IS ADDING GOOD MONEY TO BAD PRODUCT. I ALSO STILL OWE A BANK $$ FOR THIS CAR WHICH IS GOING TO BE NEGATIVE EQUITY I'M SURE. KIA SHOULD STAND BEHIND IT'S PRODUCT AND RECALL THIS ENGINE WHICH IS JUNK. I WILL NOT BUY KIA AGAIN, THAT IS FOR SURE!
AIRBAG SENSOR CAME ON DESPITE NO ACCIDENT AND HASN'T GONE AWAY. NO DAMAGE OR HITS TO MY VEHICLE TO CAUSE ANY MALFUNCTION.
WHILE DRIVING BACK FROM OREGON TO IDAHO I WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL GOING APPROXIMATELY 67MPH AND THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. I PRESSED ON THE GAS AND NOTHING SO I DISABLED THE CRUISE CONTROL AND AGAIN ATTEMPTED TO PRESS ON THE GAS AND IT CONTINUED TO LOSE POWER SO I PULLED ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND TRIED TO START IT AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT START. IT HAD BEEN TO THE MECHANIC THAT WEEK TO BE CHECKED OUT AND WHEN IT WAS TOWED BACK THE MECHANIC REPORTED IT HAD BLOWN TWO CYLINDERS.
2011 KIA SORENTO WAS PARKED IN THE ATTACHED GARAGE AT 7:30 PM. IT HAD A NEARLY FULL TANK OF GAS. NO PROBLEMS WERE NOTED. MY SON WENT CYCLING THE NEXT MORNING AT 5:30 AM AND RETURNED AT 7:30 AM. HE WENT INTO THE GARAGE TO TURN ON SPRINKLER SYSTEM. NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY WAS NOTICED. AT APPROXIMATELY 7:45 AM HE STARTED TAKING A SHOWER. A FEW MINUTES LATER HE HEARD A LOUD POP. THEN A FEW MINUTES LATER ANOTHER LOUD POP. THEN A FEW SECONDS LATER THE LIGHTS WENT OUT. THEN HE HEARD A LOUD BANGING AT THE FRONT DOOR. A MAN WAS YELLING THAT THE GARAGE WAS ON FIRE. MY SON AND ANOTHER YOUNG MAN WHO WAS RENTING ONE OF THE BEDROOMS IN THE HOUSE ESCAPED WITHOUT INJURY. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE BUT THE CAR THE ATTACHED GARAGE WERE COMPLETELY DESTROYED. THE REST OF HOUSE SUFFERED EXTENSIVE SMOKE AND WATER DAMAGE. SEE ATTACHED PICTURE TAKEN AT 7:59 AM. GARAGE IS TOTALLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. FIRE INVESTIGATORS DETERMINED THAT THE FIRE APPEARED TO BE CENTER AT THE FRONT OF THE 2011 KIA SORENTO. THE CAR WAS TOTALLY DESTROYED. INVESTIGATORS HIRED BY THE HOME INSURANCE COMPANY WERE NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT COMPONENT IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT FAILED AND CAUSED THE FIRE. NOT ENOUGH LEFT TO BE CERTAIN. KIA MOTORS USA HAS STONEWALLED US ALL THE WAY. THEY SENT PEOPLE TWICE TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS NOT SOMETHING ELSE IN THE GARAGE TO BLAME THE FIRE ON AND TO MAKE SURE THAT THE FIRE INVESTIGATORS MADE A DEFINITIVE DETERMINATION OF OF WHAT COMPONENT FAILED OR OTHERWISE HAD TO SAY IT WAS UNDETERMINED. THEY ALSO HIRED A LOCAL LAW FIRM TO OBSERVE ALL THE INVESTIGATION EFFORTS. INTIMIDATION AND STONEWALLING IS WHAT KIA HAS PROVIDED TO US. MY CONCERN IS THAT SOMEONE IS GOING TO HAVE TO DIE BEFORE KIA AND HYUNDAI ADMIT THEY HAVE DEFECT IN THEIR ENGINE MANUFACTURING PROCESS AND GET IT FIXED.
I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH ENGINE STALL OR WONT START THEN OIL IS GOING SOMEWHERE AND NO CLUE WHERE. I THOUGHT I HAD A GREAT VEHICLE WHEN I BOUGHT IT DIDNT KNOW THERE WAS ANY ISSUES WITH IT. BUT I AM AFRAID TO EVEN DRIVE IT THAT SOMETHING WOULD HAPPEN WHILE I AM OUT WITH THE GRANDBABY AN FAMILY.
TOWED A BOAT IN JULY OF 2018, STOPPED AT A STORE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO PUT CAR IN PARK, HAD TO LOOK AT OWNER MANUAL TO FIND OUT HAD TO PUSH A LITTLE BUTTON BY THE PARKING GEAR FOR IT TO SHIFT INTO PARK OR DRIVE. AFTER WE UNHOOKED BOAT WENT BACK TO WORKING NORMAL.
I BOUGHT THE SORENTO USED 2 MONTHS AGO,IT HAS 76,000 MILES ON IT. HAS DRIVEN FINE UP UNTIL NOW. IT SEEMS TO STRUGGLE GOING UP HILLS, NO POWER, AT RANDOM TIMES WHICH ARE MORE FREQUENT NOW IT HESITATES LIKE IT WANTS TO STALL , THEN JERKS AND THEN GOES BACK TO DRIVING FINE. IT SEEMS TO HAVE THIS ISSUE AROUND 40-50 MILES PER HOUR. I BROUGHT IT TO BE LOOKED AT AND THEY SAY THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION. FEELING VERY FRUSTRATED , THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE!
DOOR WILL NOT OPEN! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION, IT IS CLEARLY A KNOWN ISSUE ON THESE VEHICLES. IT WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE AND IF YOU HAD THE CHILD LOCK ENGAGED, IT WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE EITHER. FORTUNATELY I DID NOT HAVE THE CHILD LOCK ENGAGED SO I CAN STILL OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE, BUT NOW THAT I KNOW IT'S A COMMON ISSUE I'M AFRAID IT WILL HAPPEN ON MY OTHER DOORS AND I DO HAVE A CHILD, SO THE CHILD LOCKS ARE SOMETIMES USED. CAR WAS PARKED AT THE TIME, I CLOSED THE DOOR AND THE NEXT TIME THE HANDLE WOULD NOT OPEN IT.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR COMPLETELY STOPPED ACCELERATING. I GOT IT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND THE ENGINE WAS SEIZED UP. I HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC SHOP WHERE HE TOLD ME THAT EVERYTHING ELSE IN MY CAR LOOKED GREAT (I GET MY OIL CHANGED ON A REGULAR BASIS AND TAKE VERY GOOD CAR OF MY CAR). HE SAID HE WAS CLUELESS AND HAD NO IDEA WHY THE ENGINE WOULD JUST SEIZE OUT OF NO WHERE. I CALLED THE KIA CONSUMER AND THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, EVEN
CAR LOSES POWER WHEN APPLYING GAS, THEN STALLS OUT. I STOP AND WAIT FOR FEW MINUTES, THEN START THE CAR AND DRIVE OFF LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. IT OTHERWISE DRIVES PERFECT UNTIL THE RANDOM STALLING
TAKATA RECALL - MY 2011 KIA SORRENTO AIR BAG HAS STOPPED WORKING AND STAYS ON RED. I NOW HAVE NO AIR BAGS. ALSO THE WHOLE FRONT PANEL KEEPS FLASHING ON THEN OFF AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I'VE SEARCH FOR A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND NONE IS SHOWING UP.
I WAS DRIVING IN MY IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD WHEN I CAME TO A STOP SIGN. I WENT TO ACCELERATE AND MY VEHICLE HAD TURNED OFF. I COULDN'T GET IT TO TURN OVER. I WAITED A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND THEN TRIED TO START IT AGAIN AND I WAS ABLE TO GET IT STARTED SO I DROVE IT HOME. THE ANTIFREEZE WAS COMPLETELY EMPTY SO I PUT MORE IN IT. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO OVER HEAT SO I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND I HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET, AND NOW I NEED A NEW ENGINE.
ALL ACCESSORIES ON STEERING WHEEL HAVE GONE OUT: RADIO CONTROLS NO LONGER WORK, CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT WORK, BLUETOOTH CAPABILITY(ANSWERING/ENDING PHONE CALLS) NO LONGER WORKS, AND NOW THE HORN DOES NOT WORK. HAVING A WORKING HORN IS PART OF THE SAFETY EQUIPMENT ON A VEHICLE. ONE DAY WHILE PARKED, I HONKED THE HORN TO GET MY SONS ATTENTION AND IT DID NOT WORK.THE HORN JUST STOPPED WORKING. ANOTHER TIME I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AND SOME IDIOT NOT PAYING ATTENTION ALMOST DID NOT STOP, AS I WAS TURNING I HONKED THE HORN(FORGETTING IT HAD NOT BEEN WORKING PREVIOUSLY) AND IT WORKED JUST THAT ONE TIME. IT HAS NOT WORKED SINCE! HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN? ALSO, THE HEAD REST ON FRONT SEATS ARE POORLY DESIGNED, BOTH HAVE COME OFF COMPLETELY.
PASSENGER DOOR ON DRIVERS SIDE WONT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE
Unknown. I have been having oil loss since 2018 and have extensively reported the issue to my local kia dealership where I receive certain. I was instructed to do an oil consumption test that the service department later had no idea what that would have done. Twice the engine has nearly ran out of oil with no warning and I have to regularly monitor the oil level between service. At times it is very low. If I accelerate too quickly it smokes white smoke and smells of burning oil. This is a safety issue if I am merging into traffic and I am unable to accelerate fast enough to not cause an accident. This has been an ongoing issue with this vehicle.
AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 6 MILES TO A LOCAL STORE NEARBY AND BACK HOME AS I PULLED MY CAR INTO MY PARKING SPOT BLACK SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM THE HOOD SO I TURNED THE CAR OFF WAITED UNTIL THE SMOKE STOPPED AND LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD TO SEE IF I COULD TELL WHAT WAS SMOKING. EVERYTHING APPEARED FINE AND I MADE SURE TO CHECK ALL OF MY FLUID LEVELS AND OIL WHICH WERE ALL FULL. LATER THAT DAY MAYBE 4 HOURS LATER I DROVE ABOUT 15 MILES TO MY SISTERS HOUSE AND AGAIN AS I WAS PARKING MY CAR THE BLACK SMOKE STARTED AGAIN FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I PROCEEDED TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND LOOK UNDER THE HOOD AGAIN AFTER THE SMOKE CLEARED. LESS THAN 5 MINUTES LATER THE WAS A LOUD POPPING NOISE FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND BY THE TIME I RAN OUTSIDE TO SEE THE ENTIRE FRONT PART OF MY CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES HOWEVER THE WINDOWS WERE UP SO THE FLAMES WERE CONTAINED INSIDE THE CAR AND UNDER THE HOOD. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME MINUTES LATER AND PUT THE FIRE OUT AND I HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED DUE TO THE FRONT TIRES MELTING FROM THE FIRE. I HAD IT TOWED BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I'D PURCHASED IT ONLY 5 MONTHS BEFORE AND LET THEM AND FINANCING COMPANY KNOW. NO ONE COULD EXPLAIN WHY MY CAR SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUSTED LIKE A BOMB WHILE PARKED AND TURNED OFF. I'M REPORTING THIS INCIDENT BECAUSE I DO NOT BELIEVE IT WAS A FREAK ACCIDENT I BELIEVE THESE VEHICLES SHOULD DEFINITELY BE INVESTIGATED BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE.
