2011 KIA SORENTO 116,000. REGULARLY MAINTAINED.THE FIRST PROBLEM WAS THE DRIVER SIDE BACK DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE, THAT HAPPENED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. NOW, MY DRIVER SIDE DOOR WON'T OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. IN ADDITION, RECENTLY MY CAR HAS JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING; FOOT ON THE GAS AT IT IS NOT DOING ANYTHING (NO ENGINE LIGHT). WE PARK IT, SHUT IT OFF AND RESTART AND IT WILL WORK FINE FOR A WHILE. THERE IS SOME SORT OF ACCELERATION PROBLEM. I CAN STOP AT STOP SIGN AND LIGHTLY INCREASE MY SPEED AND IT WILL TUG LIKE ENGINE. NO ACCIDENTS. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN WITH HAVING 2 SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT. IF I WERE IN AN ACCIDENT, I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET MY CHILD OUT OF THE BACK. IF I WAS IN ACCIDENT, SOMEONE COULDN'T HELP ME OR MY CHILDREN. THIS TO ME IS VERY SERIOUS! SEPT 2017 DATE OF BACK DOOR ISSUE NOT OPENING FROM OUTSIDE. 3/22/18 DRIVERS DOOR NOT OPENING FROM OUTSIDE. CAR SHUTTING OFF AND NOT WORKING PROPERLY AS BEEN SINCE ABOUT JAN/2018. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH HEADLIGHTS TOO. SINCE 1/2017, BULBS ARE GOOD BUT THEY JUST WORK FOR A WHILE AND THEN ONE OR THE OTHER STOPS WORKING OUT OF NOWHERE.
I AM UNABLE TO OPEN MY DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS SEEMS TO BE QUITE A PREVELENT PROBLEM ON SEVERAL KIA MODELS. I HAVE SEEN THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. SOME WITH MULTIPLE DOORS ON THE SAME VEHICLE. THIS IS A SFETY ISSUE AS YOU CAN'T QUICKLY GET INTO THE VEHICLE TO IF YOU HAD SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK AND THER WAS AN EMERGENCY OR IF FIRST RESPONDERS NEEDED ACCESS TO THE BACK OR ANY DOOR THAT HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR THAT MATTER. THE REASON I AM REPORTING THIS IS THAT I HAVE SEEN TOO MANY PEOPLE WITH THIS ISSUE ON THERE KIA SORENTOS AND OTHER MODELS.
THERE HAVE BEEN 2 INSTANCES WHERE MOST OR ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. BOTH TIMES I HAVE BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY AT NORMAL STEADY SPEEDS. THE FIRST TIME THEY STAYED ON FOR THE DURATION OF THE RIDE, WHICH WAS ABOUT 40 MINUTES, AND THEN WERE OFF BY THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I DROVE THE CAR AGAIN. THE SECOND TIME I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO SEE IF THAT WOULD RESET IT, BUT THEY WERE STILL ON, AND STAYED ON UNTIL LATER THAT EVENING. I DIDN'T NOTICE ANY PERFORMANCE ISSUES, BUT I WAS ON AN INTERSTATE ROAD IN GOOD DRY NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THESE 2 OCCURRANCES HAVE HAPPENED WITHIN THE PAST YEAR, AND AS RECENTLY AS A MONTH AGO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ABS, STABILITY CONTROL, AND DOWNHILL TRACTION WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RIVERCHASE KIA (2200 US-31, PELHAM, AL 35124 (205) 987-6518) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE MODULE THAT NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED BECAUSE THE DEALER STATED THAT THE RECALL EXPIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER DID NOT PROVIDE THE RECALL INFORMATION. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT IN MAY OF 2017, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE, THEY CHECKED A MODULE THAT CONTROLLED THE WARNING INDICATORS, BUT THE MODULE WAS FINE AND COVERED IT IN SILICONE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT A PART IN THE REAR DRUM NEEDED REPLACEMENT ALONG WITH THE MODULE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE MALFUNCTIONED. CAN UNLOCK DOOR WITH KEY OR KEY FOB, BUT DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. HAVE TO CLIMB INTO BACK SEAT TO MANUALLY OPEN DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS TO HAVE TO DO WHEN IT'S RAINING, OR WHEN NEEDING TO ENTER THE CAR QUICKLY. I'M READING ONLINE THAT IT IS A FAULTY ACTUATOR SWITCH. DEALERS ARE CHARGING UP TO $500 TO FIX. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL FROM THE MANUFACTURER. NOT BRAGGING ABOUT MY KIA ANYMORE.
MY CAR STARTED SCREECHING AND STEERING WHEEL MADE A KNOCKING SOUND AFTER LEAVING CHURCH ON 08/27/2017. I THOUGHT IT COULD NOT BE MY POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LOW. THE NEXT DAY MY DAY CHECKED THE LEVEL. IT WAS BELOW THE HALF MARK ON THE RESERVOIR. MY DAD FILLED IT NOSIE STOPPED AND THE KNOCKING TWO DAYS LATER IT STARTED AGAIN. I REFILLED THE RESERVOIR NOSIE STOPPED EXCEPT THIS TIME GRINDING CONTINUED. THE VERY NEXT DAY LOW AGAIN GRINDING KNOCKING AND HARD TO STEER. I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I ASKED ABOUT A RECALL. AS USUAL I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THERE ISN'T ONE. I FILLED THE RESERVOIR AND THE FLUID POURS OUT FROM THE RACK AND PINION. YET THERE IS NO RECALL. THIS IS DANGEROUS. I'M GOING TO CALL THE KIA HEAD QUARTERS TO CHECK ON A RECALL SC147
MY HORN STOPPED WORKING. MY TRANSMISSION WENT COMPLETELY OUT AND WAS REPAIRED A LITTLE AFTER A YEAR THE TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY WENT OUT AGAIN. THE VEHICLE ALSO STOPS ACCELERATING. THE SORRENTO SEEM LIKE A HAZARDOUS VEHICLE AND I CAN'T BELIEVE THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO RECALLS ON CERTAIN ISSUES. I HAVE READ OTHER ISSUES AND I'M SEEING I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THE SAME ISSUES.
"TAKATA RECALL" MY AIR BAG LIGHT WILL NOT SHUT OFF EVEN WHEN I HAVE MY SEAT BELT BUCKLED! I'M SO WORRIED OVER THIS! IT'S MY ONLY VEHICLE THAT I DRIVE AROUND WITH MY CHILDREN IN IT! WHY ISN'T THIS BEING RECALLED!? DOESN'T MATTER OF I'M DRIVING OR IN PARK. NOTICED AROUND 75000 MILES
PARKED VEHICLE, FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR FAILS TO OPEN FROM OUTSIDE HANDLE BUT WILL OPEN FROM INSIDE HANDLE. KEYLESS ENTRY CLICK DOESN'T SOUND LIKE IT'S WORKING RIGHT AS WELL. KINDA WEAK SOUNDING. LOOKING AT DOOR LATCH WHILE USING KEY FOB FOR LOCK/UNLOCK NOTHING MOVES BUT OTHER DOORS ARE HEARD AND SEEN LOCKING/UNLOCKING.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IT LOSES POWER , I START TO SMELL BURNT TRANSMISSION FLUID SO I TAKE IT TO EAGLES TRANSMISSION HERE IN MCKINNEY TX. TO FIND OUT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS REPLACING. WHIS IS COSTING ME $2100 THAT INCLUDES NEW TRANSMISSION & PRICE OF LABOR. I GOOGLED THIS PROBLEM ON 2011 KIA TO SEE IF IT'S A RECALL BUT UNFORTUNATELY ITS NOT BUT IT WAS FOR THE 2011 KIA SORENTO 4 , CYLINDER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V626000 (POWER TRAIN). WHILE ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT THE GEARS, THE VEHICLE LUNGED. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE STALLED AND LOST POWER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT ALL OF THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE TAKEN TO A KIA DEALER. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
IN 2017 MY DRIVER SIDE EXTERIOR REAR DOOR HANDLE WAS BEING OPENED BY MY 98 LBS DAUGHTER AND THE DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF. CAR WAS IN PARK THEN IN 1018. THE PASSENGER EXTERIOR REAR DOOR HANDLE BROKE OFF BY THE SAME 98 LB DAUGHTER. TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUES. IF I WAS IN A CAR WRECK AND PASSED OUT. YOU WOULDNT BE ABLE TO GET INTO THE BACK SEAT.
LEFT REAR DOOR WILL NOT OPEN BY DOOR HANDLES INSIDE OR OUTSIDE EVEN WITH THE DOOR UNLOCKED IF KIDS ARE IN THE CAR IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD SITTING STILL WHEN IT FIRST HAPPENED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND HAS STAYED ON. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALER WAS TOLD THAT THE CLOCK SPRING REPLACEMENT IS UNDER A RECALL AND THAT THE OCS MAT IS DEFECTIVE I CANT PAY 2000.00 FOR THIS REPAIR AND THINK THAT THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AS IT GOES HAND IN HAND WITH THE CLOCK SPRING. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER AS IT IS NOT COVER UNDER WARRANTY.
THE DRIVER DOOR WON'T OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE.
CAR STALLS IN TRAFFIC WITHOUT WARNING. RPMS DIMINISH AND POWER IS LOST. WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURN OFF ENGINE, WAIT FOR A SHORT TIME, AND RESTART IT. THERE ARE TWO LIGHTS THAT COME ON IN THE PANEL. ONE IS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, THE OTHER IS LIT UP NEXT TO THE 4WD INDICATOR. IN REQUESTING SERVICE FROM ONE LOCAL DEALERSHIP, WE WERE TOLD THEY COULDN'T MAKE THE CAR ACT IN THIS WAY. FINALLY, AFTER SEVERAL RETURNS TO THE DEALER, WE WERE TOLD THE COMPUTER (PCM) WAS BAD AND IT WOULD BE $1500 TO REPLACE IT THEY TOLD US SOME DAY THE ENGINE WOULD STOP IN THIS MANNER AND WE WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO RESTART IT. AFTER CALLING KIA CORPORATE ABOUT RECALLS, WE WERE TOLD THE RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM DID NOT INCLUDE OUR MANUFACTURING DATE. THIS DEFECT RECALL BEGAN WITH CARS MANUFACTURED STARTING JULY, 2010, OURS WAS MANUFACTURED IN MAY, 2010. IT WAS SUGGESTED WE REQUEST A SECOND OPINION FROM THE OTHER DEALERSHIP IN TOWN. AND WERE TOLD THAT ANY PROBLEM WOULD SHOW UP WITH A CODE ON THE COMPUTER, THEY DID DIAGNOSTICS AND REPORTED THERE WAS NO CODE ON THE COMPUTER THAT WOULD INDICATE THIS PROBLEM. WE PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE RPMS AND DO NOT TRUST THIS CAR TO TAKE IT OUT OF TOWN. THIS SITUATION HAS OCCURRED AT LEAST 8-10 TIMES, FORTUNATELY NOT AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
I WAS DRIVING AT 65 MILES AN HOUR ON FLAT ROADS AND THE CAR WENT TO SHIFT TO A HIGHER GEAR AND CLUNK THE TRANSMISSION FEELS AS THOUGH IT IS GOING TO BREAK. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. I HAVE ALSO HAD TROUBLE WITH THE CLUNKING NOISE WHEN I AM GOING 40 AND GETTING READY TO SPEED UP. PLEASE HELP FIX THIS PROBLEM FOR THE SAFTEY OF OTHERS.
WHEN DRIVING AT STABLE SPEED THE VEHICLE OFTEN "FEELS" AS IF THE GAS IS NOT GETTING TO THE MOTOR. THE SPEED OF THE CAR VARIES, REGARDLESS OF THE AMOUNT OF PRESSURE ON THE GAS PEDAL. THE CAR ALSO SHOWS LOW TIRE LIGHT, ALONG WITH ALL LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD AT RANDOM TIMES. THE LIGHTS WILL APPEAR WHEN YOU START THE VEHICLE AND THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT REMAINS ON AT ALL TIMES.
DOOR HANDLES. FIRST THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR WAS UNABLE TO BE OPENED FROM THE OUTSIDE AND REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THE NEXT HANDLE TO BREAK, SAME ISSUE, WAS THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE ONE. NOW, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HAS THE SAME ISSUE, WHERE THE DOOR HANDLE WILL NOT ALLOW THE DOOR TO OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT OR HEALTH EMERGENCY, AND AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THE MOST RECENT HANDLE BROKE ON JUNE 16, 2019. THE FIRST HANDLE, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, BROKE IN AUGUST OF 2017. THE SECOND DOOR HANDLE BROKE LATER THAT YEAR.
WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND TURNING A CORNER THE CAR MADE A LOUD CLUNKING SOUND THEN STOPPED. THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN BUT THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE FORWARD. TRIED TO SHIFT GEARS BUT ENGINE JUST REVED UP BUT WOULD GO. HAD TO PUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON TO KEEP IT FROM ROLLING. FINALLY HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED OFF THE STREET. WE TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE THOUGHT IT WAS THE SAME ISSUE AS THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID 11V258000 AND GROUP SERVICE CAMPAIGN NUMBER SC 082 [REV 5] SO HE CALLED THE LOCAL KIA DEALER TO CONFIRM. DESPITE MY CAR FITTING MAKE/MODEL/YEAR/MANUFACTURE DATE THEY SAID THIS VIN WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL. HE SUGGESTED THAT I DO FURTHER RESEARCH.
THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR HANDLE COMPLETELY FELL OFF IN MY HAND WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE DOOR TO GET MY GRANDCHILD OUT OF THE CAR. THE CAR HANDLED WAS DEFECTIVE AND MY GRANDCHILD REMAINED IN A CAR IN EXTREME HEAT WHILE I TRIED TO GET INTO THE CAR ANOTHER WAY. I CRAWLED OVER THE DRIVER'S SET AND PUSHED THE DOOR OPEN FROM THE INSIDE TO BE ABLE TO PULL THE CHILD OUT. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CRAWL AROUND IN MY CAR TO GET A MINOR OUT OF IT. NOR SHOULD ANYONE BE EXPOSED TO TEXAS HEAT FOR ANY AMOUNT OF TIME DUE TO CAR FAILURE. CALLED KIA CUSTOMER CENTER AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE CAR TO BE EVALUATED AT A DEALERSHIP NEAR ME - THEY CHOSE. THE SERVICE AREA DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT THE CAR -- SAW THE CAR HANDLE I BROUGHT IN AND SAID 'WELL WHY YOU BRINGING IT IN. IT'S BROKE. I CAN TELL THAT BY LOOKING AT IT." HE SAID HE WOULD OPEN A WORK ORDER THAT DAY. NO RESPONSE, I CALLED KIA AND THEY CALLED THIS PERSON WHO SAID HE WAS JUST THEN WRITING UP THE ORDER. WEEKS LATER I CALLED KIA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND I WAS TOLD THAT SOME SALES MANAGER (NO NAME, WOULD NOT PROVIDE PHONE NUMBER) HAD DENIED COVERING THE REPAIR OF THE PART. I TOLD THE KIA SERVICE TO APPEAL IT -- THIS PLASTIC PART IS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR. FOR 6 YEARS, THIS CAR HAS BEEN USED BY ME EXCLUSIVELY M-F TO AN FROM WORK. ONCE IN AWHILE ON THE WEEKENDS, I TAKE A GRANDCHILD TO AN EVENT OR SOMETIMES I HAVE CARRIED HUSBAND TO YMCA.. IF THE PART FAILED DUE TO USE, THE DRIVERS SIDE HANDLE SHOULD HAVE FAILED. I LOOKED ONLINE AFTER LEARNING FROM KIA THAT THERE WOULD NOT BE A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. I SAW HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE IN THE SAME SITUATION I WAS IN - WARRANTY DIDN'T COVER IT SINCE IT WAS OVER 70,000 MILES. THE 'FIX' REPAIR IS OVER $500. I SAW THAT A CLASS ACTION IS BEING DISCUSSED. SINCE IT IS ALWAYS THE PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE THAT FAILS FOR 2011 KIA, IT IS OBVIOUSLY DUE TO KIA USING A SUBSTANDARD PART.
FOR SEVERAL MONTHS NOW, THE DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHTS HAVE COME ON, USUALLY FOUR AT A TIME AS I'M DRIVING. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MOST OFTEN WHEN IT'S RAINING. I HAD THE KIA DEALER IN LAS CRUCES, NM TRY TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM WHEN I HAD THE CAR IN FOR A COUPLE RECALLS ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO. THEY COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO I HAD A SHOP WITH A AAA MASTER MECHANIC TRY TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM AND THEY ALSO COULD NOT DETERMINE THE REASON THE WARNING LIGHTS WERE COMING ON. THEY COULD NOT FIND A SHORT IN THE WIRING THAT I THOUGHT MIGHT BE THE CAUSE. THE LIGHTS EVENTUALLY GO OFF, USUALLY AFTER THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN FOR SEVERAL HOURS OR OVERNIGHT. I'M CONCERNED THAT, ALTHOUGH I'VE NOT EXPERIENCED SIGNIFICANT PROBLEMS WHEN THE DASH WARNING LIGHTS COME ON, COULD A POSSIBLE REAL SAFETY ISSUE OCCUR IF ONE OF THE SYSTEMS INDICATED BY THE LIGHTS ACTUALLY MALFUNCTION? FOR A WHILE WHEN THE LIGHTS CAME ON, THE CAR'S STEERING SEEMED TO BE EFFECTED--ON WINDY CURVY ROADS THE CAR WOULD DEFINITELY OVER STEER ON CURVES, AS THOUGH SOMEONE ELSE WERE IN CONTROL. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY INFORMATION YOU MIGHT HAVE ON SIMILAR PROBLEMS AND HOW THEY WERE CORRECTED. THANK YOU.
MY SUNROOF EXPLODED. IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOTGUN AND THEN RAINING GLASS. I WAS DRIVING WITH A SPEED AROUND 35-40 MPH WHEN THIS OCCURRED. IT WAS VERY TRAUMATIC.
BACK UP CAMERA DOE'S NOT WORK SOME TIMES CAUSES PROBLEM WHEN BACKING UP YOU CAN NOT JUDGE DISTANT BEHIND VEHICLE CAN BE DANGEROUS WHEN YOU CANT SEE IF THERE IS A PERSON WALKING BEHIND YOU. PROBLEM MAY BE IN THE CAMERA LOTS OF THE SAME PROBLEM IS TALKED ABOUT ON THE INTERNET BY OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
TAKATA RECALL BOTH OF MY REAR PASSENGER DOOR HANDLES HAVE COMPLETELY COME OF NOT ALLOWING ME TO OPEN MY DOORS FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN IT HAPPENED.
AT 116XXX MILES AIR BAG LIGHT HAS COME ON. WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE WHEN THE LIGHT CAME ON. VEHICLE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A CRASH. ON SPORTS MODE, WHEN MANUALLY SHIFTING FROM 2 TO 3 I CAN EXPERIENCE THE SAME RESPONSE. ON GEAR 5 SPORTS MODE, YOU FEEL THE SUDDEN JERK. THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE MORE SIGNIFICANT WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLDER. I NOTICED THE HESITATION LASTED LONGER BEFORE THE JERK IN THE WINTER. I HAVE BEEN TO MANY MECHANIC SHOPS AND THEY TELL ME THE CAR IS SHIFTING FINE AND THAT THEY AREN'T TO FULLY REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HOPE THIS ADDS TO THE MILLIONS OF COMPLAINTS AND GETS KIA TO DO SOMETHING. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN PERSISTENT FOR OVER A YEAR NOW.

THIS SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER A SAFETY RECALL, AS IT PRESENTS A SAFETY HAZARD IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH WHERE THE DRIVER IS UNABLE TO EXIT WITHOUT ASSISTANCE SINCE RESCUERS WOULD BE DELAYED IN OPENING THE VEHICLE. THE CAR HAS BEEN BURNING OIL AND I WOULD HAVE TO PUT A QUART OF OIL IN PROBABLY ONCE A WEEK. MY BROTHER WHO IS A MECHANIC HELPED ME TO GET PARTS FOR IT AT O"REILLY AUTO PARTS AND HELPED ME REPLACE THE VALVE COVER GASKET, SPARK PLUGS, PLUG TUBE SEALS, HEADLIGHT BULB, AND AIR FILTER TO SEE IF THAT WOULD HELP. ON NOV 7, 2017, I TOOK MY CAR TO A BODY SHOP TO INQUIRE ABOUT FIXING THE PAINT DAMAGE. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY HAVE SEEN MANY KIAS SORENTOS COME IN WITH THE PEARL WHITE COLOR HAVE DELAMINATION. THEY INFORMED ME TO CHECK WITH A KIA BODYSHOP TO SEE IF THEY WOULD COVER THIS. THEY SAID THAT IT IS A FACTORY ISSUE. SO I WENT TO THE KIA BODY SHOP AND TALKED WITH THE MANAGER AND AFTER A FEW DAYS HE GOT BACK TO ME AND TOLD ME THAT KIA WOULD COVER HALF THE COST TO FIX IT. WELL I NEVER GOT IT DONE BECAUSE IF IT IS A FACTORY ISSUE AND I BELIEVE THAT KIA SHOULD COVER ALL OF IT. I COULDN'T AFFORD TO PAY WHAT KIA WANTED TO CHARGE FOR THE PAINT JOB AND MAKE MY CAR PAYMENT AT THAT TIME. SO I WAITED AND NOW THE ROOF AND HOOD PAINT ARE CONTINUING TO COME OFF AND EVEN WORSE RUST. I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE MY CAR AT THIS MOMENT. I WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE DRIVING MY CAR, BUT NOT ONLY IS IT EMBARRASSING, I WORRY ABOUT THE RUST EFFECTING AREAS AT THE TOP OF MY WINDSHIELD. AFTER DRIVING 8 MILES TO MY DESTINATION I PARKED THE CAR AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE. I IMMEDIATELY SAW AND SMELLED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I GOT OUT, CALLED 911, AND BEGAN TO SEE FLAMES. THE POLICE ARRIVED IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES BUT BY THEN THE HOOD OF THE CAR WAS ON FIRE AND BY THE TIME THE FIREFIGHTERS ARRIVED THE CAR WAS COMPLETELY IN FLAMES.
