I WAS DRIVING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT JUST STARTED TO FLASH, AND THE CAR JUST DIED ON ME. I COSTED OFF TO THE EMERGENCY LANE AND WAS TOWED TO MY GARAGE. I TRIED TO START THE CAR AND LOUD BANGING AND RATTLING STARTED, IT SOUNDS LIKE A CRANK SHAFT IS BEING THROWN ROUND.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD EXPERIENCED A FAILURE AS THE VEHICLE WAS IN A IDLE MOTION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN ABNORMAL NOISE APPEARED WITHOUT WARNING. NO LEAKS WERE PRESENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE TECHNICIAN DEEMED THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE CONTACT DID MENTION THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AFTER THE DIAGNOSED TEST WAS RAN. NO DEALER WAS CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 157,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS INSPECTED AND DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
LEAKING FUEL AND NOW CAR NEEDS NEW ENGINE.
I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET AND MY KIA STARTED MAKING A RATTLING NOISE WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GASAND THEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON CHECK BATTERY LIFE AND THE OIL LIGHT AND THEN IT DIEDWHILE I WAS DRIVING
CAR NEVER HAS HAD ENGINE ISSUES AND GETS REGULAR, ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED THREE WEEKS AGO AS I DO EVERY FEW THOUSAND MILES. I WAS DRIVING THE OTHER DAY AND THE ENGINE STARTED TO SIEZE. THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE CAR. CAR WAS TOWED TO MECHANIC AND NO CRACKS/LEAKS WERE FOUND. THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL CURRENTLY FOR THE ENGINE BEARINGS BEING PREMATURELY WORN CAUSING ENGINE TO MALFUNCTION AND SIEZE. MY VIN WAS NOT LISTED UNDER THIS RECALL, HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC SUGGESTED IT IS AN INTERNAL/ENGINE PROBLEM, THUS QUITE LIKELY DUE TO THESE WORN BEARINGS IN THE ENGINE.
WHILE DRIVING MY 2012 KIA SORENTO ON THE FWY. THE ENGINE STALLED WITH NO WARNING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON...I WAS ABLE TO PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND RESTART. IT RAN FINE, BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON. THERE WAS NO APPARENT SOUNDS OF ENGINE TROUBLE ...SO I CONTINUED MY ROUTE. THE NEXT DAY IT STARTED FINE, NO BAD NOISES, BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON...I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES UNTIL IT STALLED AGAIN WHILE ON FWY. WAS ABLE TO RESTART, BUT COMPRESSION WAS LOW ON ENGINE, SO I PULLED OFF AND HAD IT TOWED TO SHOP. THEY TOLD ME THE OIL WAS DOWN 4 QTS. AND HAD CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. MY COMPLAINT IS THE OIL LIGHT NEVER CAM ON. I'VE SEEN OTHER COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO THIS...I'M WONDERING IF YOU ARE DOING ANYTHING TO RECTIFY THIS PROBLEM?
I HAD A BURNING OIL SMELL COMING INTO THE CAB OF THE CAR AND SMOKE POURING OUT OF THE ENGINE. I WAS DRIVING HOME AND NOTICED IT WHEN I GOT HOME FROM WORK. WE TOOK IT TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND IT SMELLED BAD, BUT DIDN'T OVERHEAT. I TOOK IT IN AND IT HAD MULTIPLE OIL AND FUEL LEAKS. THEY REPLACED THE VALVE COVER GASKET AND FUEL LINE AND RESEALED THE FRONT COVER AND LOWER OIL PAN. THIS IS VERY SIMILAR TO ANOTHER RECALL (RECALL #20V750000) THEY HAVE ON A DIFFERENT 2.4L ENGINE. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER RELATIONS AT KIA AND THEY SAID THAT NO ISSUES HAD BEEN RELATED, BUT I'VE HAD MANY OTHER RECALLS ON MY ENGINE ALREADY AND HAVE A WARRANTY ON IT.

THE WIFE PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER AND CALLED FOR A TOW AND A NEW BATTERY WAS BOUGHT AND THE OLD ONE WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE SAME DAY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDNENT MECHANIC WHO OBSERVED THE VEHICLE SHUTTING ON AND OFF AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO DANBURY KIA (100A FEDERAL ROAD, DANBURY, CT 06810, (203) 730-5737). THE DEALER RECOMMENDED THE STARTER BE REPLACED. THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED BUT THE VEHICLE LOSS ACCELERATION THE SAME DAY AFTER IT WAS PICKED UP AND SHUT OFF WHEN IT WAS PULLED OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE DEALER AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 158,000.
I WAS DRIVING AND SUDDENLY HEARD A KNOCKING NOISE UNDER THE HOOD AND THEN ALL OF THE LIGHTS CAME ON AND IT BROKE DOWN AND I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THEN IT STARTED SMOKING AND THEN IT CAUGHT FIRE. THIS ALL HAPPENED WITHIN 20 MINUTES ON 12/10/2020. IT WAS IN COBB COUNTY GA OFF OF EW CONNECTOR AND IN BETWEEN FONTAINE RD AND FLOYD RD.
WENT TO CHECK MY HEADLIGHT BULB AS MY HEADLIGHT STOPPED WORKING AGAIN AFTER JUST REPLACING THE BULB A FEW WEEKS AGO. WHAT I FOUND IS THAT THE CONNECTOR TO THE BULB WAS COMPLETELY MELTED
HAVE HAD THE TO REPLACE THE RIGHT CV AXLE TWICE IN THE PAST 40K MILES (ONCE AT ABOUT 118K AND AGAIN AT 150K) MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE IN KIAS
THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AND STEADY. MECHANIC HAS INFORMED ME THAT STEERING WHEEL AIR BAG HAS A PROBLEM AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS WILL DEPLOY IF THERE IS AN ACCIDENT. I SEE THERE ARE OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT SAME PROBLEM. WHY HAVE THESE COMPLAINTS NOT RESULTED IN A RECALL?
THE ENGINE STOPPED, I HAVE TO BUY A USED ENGINE, WHICH I HAVE THE DOCUMENTS TO SHOW.

PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. THE CLIP ON THE HOUSING THAT HOLDS THE HEADLIGHT WAS BROKEN. REPLACED IT. LIGHT STARTED WORKING THEN WENT OUT AGAIN. THIS TIME THE WIRES IN THE HOUSING CAME LOOSE. LIGHT OUT AGAIN. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE CAR IS STATIONARY, IN MOTION, IT'LL WORK WHEN IT WANTS TO. AS FOR THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE....PULLED INTO A CAR WASH TO SPRAY IT OFF. TURNED AROUND TO START AND NOTICED ON THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR A SPOT OF PAINT MISSING ABOUT THE SIZE OF A QUARTER. DOWN TO THE PRIMER. THE PAINT IS DARK CHERRY PEARL. THERE IS NO SCRATCH, DENT, OR ANYTHING THAT CAUSED IT.
THE CAR ENGINE CAUGHT FIRE WHILE I WAS DRIVING. ANOTHER DRIVER NOTIFIED ME SO I COULD PULL OVER. THE ENGINE FIRE DESTROYED THE CAR. I NOTIFIED KIA 1 MONTH LATER, BUT THE CAR HAD ALREADY BEEN INSPECTED/DESTROYED BY USAA. KIA REFUSED ACCOUNTABILITY (EVEN THOUGH KIA WAS FINED BY THE GOVT FOR CARS OF THIS MAKE/MODEL WITH THIS ISSUE).
INTERMITTENT CONNECTION TO PASSENGERS SIDE HEADLAMP BULB, CAUSING OVERHEATED CONNECTOR AND WIRING.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING FROM ARIZONA TO UTAH, SUDDENLY I HEAR A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CAR STARTS LOSING POWER AND THEN COMPLETELY SEIZED UP, LUCKILY WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER. WE TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TRIED TO TURN IT ON AGAIN BUT IT WASN'T TURNING ON.
LH LOW BEAM NOT WORKING. REPLACED BULB AND IT DIDN'T FIX. SWAPPED WITH RH BULB TO MAKE SURE IT WASN'T A BAD NEW BULB AND THAT DIDN'T FIX IT. HI BEAM AND PARK LAMP WORK FINE. RESEARCHED ONLINE AND SEEN THIS IS BECOMING A COMMON PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING AND HEARD A KNOCKING SOUND. I CAME TO A STOP SIGN AND THE CAR STALLED. IT RESTARTED BUT HAD NO POWER. I TURNED AND TRIED TO GO A LITTLE FURTHER HAD NO POWER. I MANAGED TO GET THE CAR OFF ROAD AND INTO THE BYPASS LANE. CAR WOULD NOT START AGAIN. I HAD TO CALL FOR TOW TRUCK.
HEADLIGHTS INTERMITTENTLY TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING OR DON'T WORK WHEN YOU TURN THE CAR ON AND THEN WILL RANDOMLY START WORKING AGAIN. IT IS USUALLY JUST ONE HEADLIGHT, BUT DID HAVE BOTH GO OUT ONE NIGHT.
VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN AND COMPLETELY SHUT OFF, CAME TO A STOP AND STARTED TO SMOKE, A FIRE IGNITED AND CONSUMED THE FRONT END

THE CONTACT SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND THE VEHICLE WAS PUSHED TO THE NEAREST PARKING LOT. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO HER RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC CAME TO HER RESIDENCE AND DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH AN ENGINE ROD BEARING FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 170,000.
VEHICLE ENGINE DIED WHILE ACTIVELY DRIVING ON MAIN ROAD. LUCKILY, TRAFFIC WASN'T TOO BAD ON THIS ROAD, BUT WE COULD HAVE VERY EASILY BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IN A CAR ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THE SITUATION. VEHICLE WAS OPERATING FINE UNTIL THIS MOMENT, NEVER HAD ANY ENGINE ISSUES UNTIL THIS MOMENT, AND VEHICLE MAINTENANCE WAS KEPT UP WITH.
VEHICLE ENGINE SEIZED WHILE ACTIVELY DRIVING NEARLY CAUSING AM ACCIDENT.
Since I purchased the car on 9/14/2020 I have had to get brakes done 3 times. First bought and replaced the brakes within 30days then on 12/22/21 replaced again and on 6/24/2022 brakes rotors and calipers.
ENGINE SEIZED WHILE ROLLING TO A RED LIGHT.
My headlight are so dim at night I have to drive with my high beams on. I've cleaned and replaced bulbs and they are still very dim.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, A VERY BAD KNOCKING NOISE OCCURRED THAT WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR FEES. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS JUST PURCHASED SOMETIME IN FEBRUARY FROM THE SAME DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
oIL IS BURNING . rEPORTED ISSUE A YEAR AGO AND WAS TOLD NO ISSUE WAS FOUND, NOW i'M HAVING TO PUT 1 QUART OF OIL IN PER 4-5 DAYS
MY AIRBAG IS ON, WHEN I WAS PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT WHEN I NOTICED IT . I THOUGHT IT WOULD TURN OFF, BUT IT STILL ON AND THAT WAS 3 WEEKS AGO.
MY DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT. AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BULB AND I CHANGED THE BULB BUT IT WAS STILL OUT. I WENT TO MY MECHANIC AND THEY FIXED IT. WHILE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY GOING ABOUT 55MPH THE LIGHT WENT OUT. I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY FIXED IT AGAIN. THE LIGHT STAYED ON FOR A DAY, THEN WENT OUT WHILE I WAS AGAIN DRIVING ABOUT 55MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THE NEXT MORNING WHEN I TURNED THEM ON AGAIN IT CAME BACK ON SO I THOUGHT IT WAS FIXED, THEN WHILE I WAS ON THAT SAME HIGHWAY IT WENT OUT AGAIN AND IT HASN'T COME BACK ON.
I OWN A 2012 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER AND STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150000.
ALL INTERIOR LIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS HAVE COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING - BACK UP CAMERA DOES NOT WORK ANY MORE EITHER. REPLACE THE FUSE AND IT BLOWS IMMEDIATELY. HAD THE CAR LOOKED AT AND THEY INFORMED ME A DEALERSHIP WOULD HAVE TO FIX THE PROBLEM- IT'S AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE.

THE VEHICLE STALLED AND SHUTOFF WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WERE CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY AND WAS TOWED TO THE MANAHAWKIN KIA DEALER, LOCATED AT: 270 NJ-72, MANAHAWKIN, NJ 08050, WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE SEIZED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VIN. THE CONTACT WAS REFERRED TO THE NHTSA. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 93,000.
The contact owns a 2012 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that the rod bearings were knocking, and the check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 15V626000 (Power Train), 23V652000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic), and 20V750000 (Engine). The local dealer was contacted, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The contact called the warranty company which declined the repairs. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
I PURCHASED A KIA SORENTO ON JULY 21 2020 AFTER TEST DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE AIR BAG LIGHT POPPED ON THE SALES MAN TOOK IT TO ONE OF THEIR ON SITE EMPLOYEES AND THEY HOOKED UP THE CODE DEVICE NO CODES APPEARED SO HE SUGGESTED ITS JUST A SENSOR PROBLEM AND TOLD ME IT SHOULDN'T BE MUCH TAKE IT TO A KIA DEALERSHIP. I DID IN WHICH COULDN'T GET IN TO SEE THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT UNTIL TODAY IN WHICH I HAD TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND THEY FOUND THAT THE ODS MAT WAS FAULTY. I TOLD THE SERVICE GUY THAT THE CAR LOT TOOK THE SEATS OUT TO CLEAN THE SUV FOR SALE AND HE TOLD ME THEY DAMAGED OR BROKE THE ODS MAT. I CONTACTED THE SELLER AND STRONGER EXPRESSED MY FEELING ABOUT MY VEHICLE IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE AND THE ONLY THING HE SAID TO ME IS MY PAYMENT DUE AUGUST 31 TODAY IS THE 10TH AND THIS REPLACEMENT WILL BE OVER 2300 THAT I CAN'T AFFORD AND THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER SAFE FOR ME AND MY DAUGHTER. I REALLY FEEL THEY KNEW IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIR BAG AND JUST TRIED TO MAKE A SALE SAYING IT WAS A SENSOR ISSUE THAT KIA WILL HAVE TO RESET.
AIRBAG ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE KIA NEEDS TO RECALL AIRBAGS MAY JUST SAVE A LIFE AND MINES IS AT STATE HERE... PASSENGER SEAT AIRBAGS DISABLED AND WILL NOT ALLOW OTHER AIRBAGS TO WORK IF I BECOME IN AN ACCIDENT. PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS ISSUE I'M FEAR OF MY SAFETY
I HAVE FAULTY AIRBAGS IN MY VEHICLE WHY IS THERE NO RECALL VEHICLE HASN'T BEEN WRECKED. AIRBAG WERE NEVER DEPLOYED. MY VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE WITHOUT AIRBAG REPAIR, AS LONG AS THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON ON THE DASH THE AIRBAG SYSTEM FAILS INSPECTION. IT NEEDS TO BE A RECALL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND CAUSE DEATH IF I WAS TO BE INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT.
THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DUTCH MILLER KIA IN CHARLOTTE. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID I WOULD NEED AN OCS MAT REPLACEMENT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT. THE LIGHT WAS DISCOVERED WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
MY KIA SORENTO 2012 ENGINE SUDDENLY CAUGHT FIRE WHILE DRIVING ON A MAJOR DESERT HIGHWAY WHICH MY INSURANCE UPON INSPECTION DETERMINED IT WAS CAUSED BY A PISTON ROD PIERCING THE ENGINE WHICH ALTHOUGH OTHER KIA MODELS ARE PART OF A RECALL AND CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT, MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED.
VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY WILL INTENSELY JERK AND IMMEDIATELY LOCKS UP THE DRIVING CONTROLS AS THE ENGINE STALLS AND STARTS TO SEIZE CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STOP WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAYS, AND RESTRAINING FROM ANY ACCELERATION, STEERING, OR POWER USE.
MY ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING WHEN I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND STOPPED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. I GOT TO WORK AND WAITED A FEW HOURS THEN CHECKED THE OIL. I FOUND THE OIL WAS LOW AND ADDED MORE, I TURNED THE VEHICLE ON AND STILL HEARD THE KNOCKING. I HAVE BEEN HAVING A LOT OF ISSUES WITH KEEPING OIL IN MY VEHICLE, THERE ARE NO LEAKS, DRIPS OR ANYTHING ON THE GROUND. I HAVE NOTICED WATER LIKE LIQUID DRIPPING FROM AROUND THE EXHAUST JUST REAR OF THE OIL PAN AND FRAME AND MY RPMS DROP WHEN FROM ABOUT 800 TO LESS THE 500 WHEN STATIONARY. I KEEP UP WITH ALL THE OIL CHANGES WITH THE KIA DEALERSHIP IN MY TOWN, DID WHAT RECALLS WERE REQUESTED BY KIA. MY VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 143,800 MILES. I CHECKED FOR ANY RECALLS AND FOUND MY VIN NUMBER WAS UNRELATED TO ANY.
MY DRIVER SIDE HEADLIGHT AND PASSENGER SIDE TURN SIGNAL KEEPS GOING OUT AND I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE AUTO SHOP TO BE FIXED MULTIPLE TIMES IT FIXES FOR A FEW DAYS AND OUT AGAIN BUT THE BUILD DOESN'T BURN OUT BECAUSE SOMETIME IF I TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON IT WILL COME BACK ON OR IF I GOT A BUMP IT WILL GO OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2012 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE OIL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHUDDERED WHILE IDLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SMITH CHEVROLET INC (1911 EASTERN AVE, GALLIPOLIS, OH 45631) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE BEARINGS WERE DEFECTIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V224000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE NHTSA HOTLINE TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 102,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY, THE CAR'S ENGINE JUST CUTS OFF ON ITS OWN WHILE I WAS IN TRAFFIC. ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD COME ON. I PUT MY FLASHERS ON AND IT ALLOWED ME TO RESTART AND DRIVE AND IT DID IT AGAIN. THE THIRD TIME I STARTED IT, I TURNED OFF ON A LESS CROWED ROAD TO GET TO ANOTHER STRETCH OF ROAD AND DROVE VERY SLOWING FOR ABOUT 10 MILES TO GET IT HOME. I COULD SMELL SOMETHING COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND I DIDN'T PARK IT IN THE GARAGE. THE SMELL WAS STRONG AND THE HOOD VERY HOT TO THE TOUCH. I DIDN'T WANT TO CHANCE IT CATCHING ON FIRE. We had some kind of fuel leak that caused smoke to come from the hood and the car to overheat. The check engine light did come on. We were on our way to the mechanic and the car died on us in the middle of the road. The car was taken to two different mechanics 3 different times. We had the thermostat housing replaced, the intake manifold, and the head gasket. Submitted documents to Kia showing our problem. They said they needed more proof showing there was some type of leak. I found the original papers today from the first mechanic that states "fluid leaking, smoke from under the hood, car shut down". I asked if I could submit those documents since they say exactly what Kia was looking for. I was told that those documents wouldn't make a difference in the outcome and they would not be reimbursing me anything on this matter. I have paid almost $3000 to have my car fixed and Kia will not reimburse for anything even tho I have the proof they told me that they needed. Kia has not been helpful at all through this matter. They have no intention of reimbursing me even tho my recall letter states they will if I have proof showing there was a leak and smoke coming from the engine. I received the recall letter 4-6 months after I had made the repairs.
