DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR: SIDE MIRRORS AUTOMATICALLY LOWER WHEN IN REVERSE, BUT THE DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR WILL OFTEN AIM TOO LOW--ALMOST STRAIGHT DOWN AT THE GROUND. ONCE IN DRIVE, THE MIRROR WILL RESET TO THE INCORRECT POSITION, OFTEN TOO HIGH - AIMING TOWARD THE SKY.
THE PAINT STARTED PEELING FROM THE HOOD OF MY CAR 2 YEARS AGO. IT STARTED AS SMALL CRACKS, SO I ORDERED PAINT REPAIR PENS FROM KIA AND TRIED TO REPAIR IT MYSELF, BUT IT DID NOT WORK. NOW IT HAS EXPANDED TO BIGGER AREAS. AFRAID TO WASH THE CAR BECAUSE ALL THE PAINT MAY PEEL OFF.
Total engine failure. Piston rods tore through engine block. Thankfully the vehicle did not catch on fire.
I BOUGHT MY 2016 KIA SORENTO IN 2019 SINCE I PURCHASED IT THE MOTOR HAS WENT OUT IN IT WHICH HAD TO BE REPLACED WHICH I HAD TO PAY THE WARRANTY FEE PLUS OTHER COST NOT INCLUDED IN THE WARRENTY, I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE MY BACK TAIL LIGHT AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH BECAUSE IT KEEPS GOING OUT AND I DON'T KNOW WHY THE TRANSMISSION SEEMS TO STALL WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE IT MAKES A NOISE THAT SOUNDS LIKE OPEN AIR THE CAR JUMPS SLIGHTLY SOMETIMES AND AT TIMES IT WON'T ACCELERATE HERE RECENTLY ON 2 OCCASIONS THE ACCELERATOR STILL ACCELERATED AFTER I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE PEDAL THIS SCARED ME MAINLY BECAUSE MY KIDS WERE IN THE CAR AND IT SEEMED LIKE IT WAS ACCELERATING TO FULL CAPACITY AFTER TAPPING THE PEDAL WITH MY FOOT MULTIPLE TIMES IF FINALLY RELEASED.
The contact owns a 2016 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that while his wife was driving into the driveway, the vehicle stalled. No warning lights were illuminated. The contact's wife stated that on a separate occasion while starting the vehicle, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the battery had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer jumpstarted the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The contact's wife stated that on a separate occasion, while stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle stalled. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the residence. An independent mechanic arrived at the residence and diagnosed the vehicle with engine failure. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The Extended Warranty field technician later informed the contact that the repair could not be covered since the knock sensor was not installed back in 2021. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V907000 (Fuel System, Gasoline, Engine). The failure mileage was approximately 62,598.
I HAVE A 2016 KIA SORENTO THAT STALLS AT LOW SPEED. IT'S LIKE YOU TURN THE SWITCH OFF, AND THEN AFTER A FEW SECONDS, IT SURGES FORWARD. IT HAS DONE IT WHILE ENTERING TRAFFIC, AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES, AND THEY SAY THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE IT DOES NOT THROW A CODE. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE 2016 MODELS FOR A FAULTY ACCELERATOR MODULE, BUT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN IT.
The paint on the front hood and also on the roof above the driver side is chipping away and peeling for no reason. It started about 24 months ago as a small chip on the roof right at the windshield above the steering wheel. Thought is was perhaps from a rock. Now that small chip has grown, the metal that was under it has started to rust, there are also now multiple chips and peels on the front hood in multiple places.
MY KIA SORENTO DOES NOT SHIFT OUT OF P (PARK). THE LOCK RELEASE BUTTON DOES NOT ENGAGE UNLESS I ACTIVATE THE SHIFT-LOCK OVERRIDE. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN, TODDLER, AND ENTIRE FAMILY. PLEASE HELP US REPAIR THIS AND ENSURE THE MANUFACTURER IS HELD ACCOUNTABLE.
I NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE FAN KEPT RUNNING OCCASIONALLY WHEN I WOULD TURN THE CAR OFF. THEN I NOTICED THAT THE THERMOSTAT WOULD SOMETIMES RUN VERY HOT, AND THAT WAS WHEN THE ENGINE FAN WOULD CONTINUE AFTER VEHICLE SHUT OFF. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO THE DEALER TO GET IT CHECKED OUT, AND THEY SHARED THAT IT WAS TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO THE HEAD STUDS PULLING OUT OF THE ENGINE. THIS WAS CAUSING COOLANT TO GET INTO THE ENGINE AND BURN. THE VEHICLE HAD 130,000 MILES AT THIS TIME. IT TURNS OUT BECAUSE OF THE HEAD STUDS STRIPPING OUT, ANTIFREEZE WAS GETTING INTO THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE.
PAINT CHIPPING ON THE HOOD AND TOP OF MY CAR/ COLOR IS WHITE
My wife's 2016 kia sorento only had 86,000 miles on it and is knocking bad! So it's been sitting and I've seen others recanted for the same thing. It's a rod knocking no mistaking it! Very disappointed in the service, it had the 2.4 l so I tight it would be a good motor because we had a2010 optima with the same engine and put over 100,000 miles on it. It was running perfect and then it started knocking!

THE CONTACT PLACED THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE WHEN THE VEHICLE SURGED IN REVERSE CRASHING INTO THE CONTACT'S GARAGE. NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED AN INJURY TO THEIR SHOULDER AND MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NEEDED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED TOTALED. THE CONTACT CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP (FRIENDLY KIA 5819 US-19, NEW PORT RICHEY, FL 34652; (877) 544-6719) WHO DID NOT DIAGNOSE A FAILURE, HOWEVER, THEY ATTEMPTED TO FILE A CLASS ACTION FORM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING ANOTHER VEHICLE CONTINUED TO FLASH THEIR LIGHTS AND BLOW THEIR HORN AT THEM. THE CONTACT STATED THEY DECIDED TO PULL OVER TO FIND OUT THAT THEIR VEHICLE WAS FIRE COMING FROM UNDERNEATH WHERE THE FUEL LINES WERE. THE FIRE CAUSED GLASS TO SHATTER AND CAUSED A LARGER FIRE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT FILED REPORT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED TOTALED. THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INJURIES. THE CONTACT CONTACTED THE DEALER (BUCHANAN KIA 119 RAILROAD AVE, WESTMINSTER, MD 21157; (410) 876-2251) WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEIR VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL AND PROVIDED THE PAPERWORK FOR ALL PREVIOUS RECALLS FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION PURPOSES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN A STAND STILL, AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE WAS HEARD. THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACK ON IT'S OWN, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO HIT A TWO POST AND A STAIRCASE OF THE NEIGHBOR'S HOUSE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NOTED THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. THE CONTACT DID SUSTAIN INJURIES TO THE LEFT LEG AND BACK INJURES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO BODY FACILITY. THE CONTACT STATED SEVERAL LOCAL DEALERS WERE CONTACTED, HOWEVER NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEIR FAILURE WAS RELATED TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V626000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 58,000.
OIL CONSUMED AT AN ALARMING RATE. I HAD MY OIL CHANGED NOT EVEN 1000 MILES AGO AND THE ENTIRE 5 LITERS WERE CONSUMED AND THE ENGINE WAS BONE DRY. THIS HAS BEEN OBSERVED OVER THE PAST THREE OIL CHANGES (ROUGHLY 36000 MILES ON). I WAS COMING DOWN A HILL AT ROUGHLY 35 MPH AND THE OIL LIGHT BLINKED. AS SOON AS I GOT HOME I CHECKED AND THE ENGINE HAD NO OIL IN IT.
THE KIA WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK. TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND THEY SAID IT WAS A SOLENOID
MULTIPLE TIMES, WITH VEHICLE IN PARKED, WITH THE LIGHTING SETTINGS SET TO "AUTO", THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE TURNED "ON" BY THEMSELVES WITH THE CAR LOCKED AND EMPTY MORE THAN 4 TIMES THAT I KNOW OF - COULD HAVE DRAINED BATTERY OVERNIGHT IF I DID NOT CATCH AND CYCLED LOCK MECHANISM. MULTIPLE TIMES, WITH VEHICLE IN MOTION, WITH THE LIGHTING SETTINGS SET TO "AUTO", THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE CYCLED RANDOMLY FROM OFF TO ON, AND VICE VERSA, AND QUICKLY REVERSING TO NORMAL OPERATION AGAIN MORE THAN 10 TIMES THAT I HAVE NOTICED WHEN IT SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED (BY AUGUST 2ND 2020), BOTH DURING DAYTIME AND NIGHT EXTERNAL LIGHTING CONDITIONS, BOTH ON ROADS AND HIGHWAYS. NOTE THAT WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THE LIGHTING LEVEL OUTSIDE DID NOT WARRANT A CHANGE IN CONDITION. PROBABLY AN ELECTRICAL DEFECT WITH THE AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL LIGHT LEVEL DETECTOR. COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHEN HEADLIGHTS TURN OFF BY THEMSELVES AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING ON ROADS OR HIGHWAYS. THIS HAPPENS RANDOMLY WITH WIDE TIME SPACING (10+ DAYS BETWEEN OCCURRENCES). VEHICLE HAS 70800 MILES.
MY 2016 KIA SORENTO IS HAVING OIL CONSUMPTION ISSUES. I KNOW THAT YOU ARE WELL AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH MANY OF THE ENGINES ON SEVERAL KIA MODELS. I HAVE FOLLOWED ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT KIA HAD RECOMMENDED TO MONITOR OIL LEVELS AND NOW KIA IS CLAIMING THEY ARE NO LONGER "HONORING" THAT TYPE OF TESTING. MY BIGGEST ISSUE IS THAT YOU ARE AWARE OF THIS HORRIBLE PROBLEM WHICH COULD ULTIMATELY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY OR WORSE YET DEATH IF ONE OF THESE KIAS ENGINES DIES OUT ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT WARNING. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED TO ME YET BUT I WAS JUST READING PLENTY OF REVIEWS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING. I FEAR FOR MY LIFE AND PRAY WHENEVER I GO OUT AND DRIVE. PLEASE TAKE NOTE ONCE AGAIN OF THIS CRITICAL ISSUE SURROUNDING THESE VEHICLES. I HAD A KIA BEFORE THIS BUT NEVER AGAIN WHEN THEY ARE DEFAULTING ON THEIR OBLIGATION TO FIX THIS HUGE PROBLEM. AND SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT BACKING CONSUMERS HAVING THESE ISSUES!!!! IT IS A DISGRACE THAT A FOREIGN CAR COMPANY COMES IN AND PROFITS OFF OF AMERICA AND DOESN'T BACK IT'S OWN PRODUCT. When I make a left-hand turn, the right-hand signal light will come on as I'm making the turn. My vehicle is available for inspection. This puts me and the drivers around me in immediate danger of an auto accident. I have not taken the vehicle to a dealer for this problem. The vehicle has not been inspected. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to it first appearing three or four months after I purchased the vehicle in May of 2020. I don't want to get rear-ended or accidently pitted because of this problem (especially with passengers in my vehicle).
LOSE OF POWER. MECHANICAL PUT IN COMPUTER. TURBO DEFECTIVE. TOLD SHOULDN'T DRIVE, AS LOSE OF POWER WHILE DRIVING, SEVERE SAFETY ISSUE. THIS ISSUE IS APPLICABLE TOWARD DRIVER AND ORHER VEHICLES AND ITS DRIVER/PASSENGERS ON THE ROAD.
JUST BOUGHT THE CAR AT 32K LAST YEAR. ONLY FAMILY CAR SO WE DRIVE IT A LOT, SO WE ARE ALWAYS GETTING OIL CHANGE AND KEEPING UP WITH MAINTENANCE. ONE DAY IT STARTED OVERHEATING AND WAS NO LONGER HOLDING THE COOLANT. TOOK IT IN TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AT THE DEMONTROND KIA DEALERSHIP IN HOUSTON BUT THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD HAVE TO CHECK INSIDE THE ENGINE. WELL THEY DID AND WAS TOLD THISDURING ENGINE TEAR DOWN, ONE OF THE NECESSARY INSPECTION ON THE 3.3L ENGINE IS TO TOQUE THE HEAD BOLTS TO VERIFY IT DID NOT DAMAGE THE ENGINE BLOCK. SOMETIMES WHEN THEY OVER HEAD, THE PULL THE THREADS OUT OF THE ENGINE BLOCK. THIS IS WHAT HAPPEN TO YOUR ENGINE DURING TEAR DOWN. AND BECAUSE OF THIS, THE ENGINE CAN NO LONGER BE PROPERLY ASSEMBLED. " SO THEY SAID I NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. CAR MILEAGE WAS AT 79K. COST FOR NEW ENGINE PLUS LABOR EST. 12K .
TRUNK IS NOT LIFTING ITSELF AND LATCH IS NOT LOCKING. AND WHEN DRIVING THE TRUNK HITS
CAR KICKS WHEN DRIVING. OIL BURNS OUT AFTER OIL CHANGE. EVERY WEEK OR 2 I HAVE TO PUT OIL IN. PROBLEM STILL CONTINUES AFTER KICKING PROBLEM WAS SOMEWHAT FIXED. CAR STILL KICKS BUT NOT AS HARD TODAY. ENGINE OIL IS STILL BURNING UP QUICKLY
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OVER 50 MPH THE STEERING FEELS LOOSE AND HAS A LOT OF PLAY IN IT. HARD TO KEEP THE CAR GOING STRAIGHT IN THE LANE WITHOUT EXCESSIVE MANUAL CORRECTIONS. THE STEERING ISN'T VERY RESPONSIVE EVEN WITH THIS. *TR
REAR TAILGATE LATCH WILL NOT LOCK, THE ACTUATOR HAS STOP WORKING. I HEAR THE CLICKING BUT NOTHING MOVES. I CALLED THE DEALER AND OF CAUSE NO INFORMATION THAT THIS EXISTS OR HAS HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE, WHY BECAUSE THEY WANT YOU BRING IT IN TO THEN CHARGE THE CUSTOMER $450.00 PARTS AND LABOR. I'M SURE THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE.THEY ALSO WON'T GIVE ANY INFORMATION THAT YOU CAN DO E.G. THE SMART OPERATION CHECK, ETC....THIS HAPPEN TO ME WHILE TRAVELING FROM KEY WEST BACK HOME TO ST. I BOUGHT MY 2016 KIA SORENTO ON 06/17/2020. BY 06/20/2020 WHEN I GOT HOME AND TRIED LOCKING MY CAR, MY TRUNK DOOR WOULD NOT LOCK. IT WILL OPEN AND CLOSE BUT ANYBODY CAN ACCESS MY VEHICLE THROUGH THE TRUNK. AND BECAUSE IT WILL NOT LOCK ITS KEEPIN MY DASHBOARD FLASHING. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT CHECK ENGINE WARNING WAS LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CHECKED THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL AND NOTICED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS VERY LOW. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS NO VISIBLE LEAKS. THE DRIVER FELT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO GARY LANG AUTO GROUP (1107 S STATE ROUTE 31, MCHENRY, IL 60050 (815) 669-5966) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND DETERMINED THAT AN OIL AND FILTER CHANGE WAS NEEDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V907000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS INVALID. Stock paint is continuing to peel off of the car for no reason. No accidents, or anything self inflicted that would contribute to the paint chipping.
VEHICLE ENGINE BROKE DOWN ON HIGHWAY AT 62K MILES WITH LOSS OF POWER AND HEAVY SMOKE. ULTIMATELY HAD TO GET NEW ENGINE INSTALLED BY THE DEALER BUT LITERALLY DAY AFTER THEY RETURNED THE VEHICLE, IT LOST POWER ON THE ROAD AGAIN WITH HEAVY SMELL OF GAS. DEALER SAID THEY FIXED THE FUEL INJECTOR AND O-RING BUT ONCE AGAIN HAVING SAME ISSUE IN SEP (AFTER MINIMAL DRIVING FOR PAST COUPLE MONTHS). VEHICLE STILL WITH DEALER BECAUSE THEY DIAGNOSIS ISSUE AFTER REPLACING FUEL INJECTOR AND GASKET AGAIN. SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE V6 KIA SORENTO ENGINES AND FUEL SYSTEM.
Have a 2016 Kia sorento 93000 miles it is pearl white the paint is coming off peeling off ,chipping off
PEARL WHITE PAINT ON 2016 KIA SORENTO IS RAPIDLY PEELING OFF SINCE MARCH 2020. ONE HUGE SPOT ON DRIVERS SIDE BUMPER IS THE BIGGEST AND HAS HUGE CHUNKS THAT PEEL OFF. THERE IS ANOTHER SPOT ON THE PASSAGES SIDE BUMPER AND A FEW OTHER SPOTS ON BUMPER AND HOOD THAT ARE STARTING TO BUBBLE UP.
PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE IS DISLODGING AND NOT WORKING. CAR WAS PARKED AND IN A DRIVEWAY.
CANNOT KEEP VEHICLE GOING IN STRAIGHT LINE WITHOUT MAKING CONSTANT MINOR ADJUSTMENTS. SOMETIMES, THE STEERING DOES NOT RESPOND IMMEDIATELY TO THE ADJUSTMENTS CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO WANDER DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO THE CENTER LINE OR THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WILL ALSO OVER CORRECT AT TIMES CAUSING THE DRIVER TO MAKE A MORE DRASTIC CORRECTION. DUE TO THE LACK OF RESPONSE (INTERMITTENT), MY FEAR IS THAT IT WILL FAIL TO RESPOND AT ALL. I TOOK IT TO THE SELLING DEALER AND, AFTER A VERY SHORT DRIVE, THEY SAID "NO PROBLEM FOUND." WE BOUGHT THIS CAR WITH 20,000 MILES AND IT NOW HAS 60,000. THIS PROBLEM HAS PERSISTED SINCE WE BOUGHT IT.
OUR 2016 KIA SORENTO HAS 35K MILES AND IT STOPPED RECENTLY, THE ENGINE SEIZED. THE DEALER CLAIMED IT WAS DUE TO INADEQUATE OIL CHANGES (THEY HAD RECORDS OF 2-3 PERFORMED BY KIA DEALERS, THE MOST RECENT UNDER TWO YEARS AND 10K MILES AGO). WE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY WARNING LIGHTS OR OTHER NOTIFICATIONS TO FORETELL THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER RECOMMENDED WE REPLACE THE ENGINE AND ARE IN THE PROCESS OF DOING SO NOW. I BROUGHT MY 2016 KIA SORENTO IN THE DEALER FOR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CODE P0172). AFTER THE EVALUATED IT, THEY SAID THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL LINES NEED TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE IT'S LEAKING FUEL INTO THE ENGINE AND THE ENGINE NEEDS AN OIL CHANGE BECAUSE THE OIL IS DILUTED WITH FUEL. THEY SAID THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL LINE IS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY BUT THE OIL CHANGE ISN'T. THIS FUEL SYSTEM ISSUE IS EVERY SIMILAR TO THE RECALLS THAT WERE REPORTED ON JANUARY 17, 2019 BUT MY CAR DIDN'T FALL UNDER THE RECALL. COULD THIS BE PART OF THE RECALL? *TR
STEERING STICKS WHILE DRIVING. THERE IS A TIGHT SPOT IN THE STEERING THAT MAKES DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE DIFFICULT. THE VEHICLE REQUIRES CONSTANT CORRECTION TO CONTINUE DRIVING IN A STRAIGHT LINE. THIS IS NOT ONLY UNSAFE IT IS EXHAUSTING TO DRIVE. THE ISSUE ALSO CAUSES PREMATURE TIRE WEAR. A SET OF 80000 MILE MICHELIN TIRES WAS WORN OUT IN UNDER 20000 MILES. THIS STARTED AT ABOUT 50000 MILES IN OUR VEHICLE,BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED UNTIL TODAY,75000 MILES. PRIOR TO THE WARRANTY EXPIRING THE DEALER SAID THEY DID NOT NOTICE THE PROBLEM. TODAY THE DEALER SAYS STEERING COLUMN IS DEFECTIVE. KIA FORUMS ARE FULL OF DRIVERS WITH THIS SAME ISSUE STARTING AS EARLY AS 30000 MILES.

WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALER, AND THEY CALLED TO REPORT A TOTAL ENGINE FAILURE. UNFORTUNATELY I AM THE SECOND OWNER SO MY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 60K RATHER THAN 100K.
THE ISSUE BEGAN AT APPROXIMATELY 90,000 MILES AND IS ONGOING. THE ENGINE BURNS EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES; UP TO SIX QUARTS. THERE ARE NO OIL LEAKS. THE ENGINE MAKES A RATTLING NOISE ON ACCELERATION AND LOSES POWER. I HAD THE VALVE COVER GASKET REPLACED IN APRIL 2020. THE ISSUES PERSISTED FOLLOWING THE REPAIR.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE OWNER WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST OF THE CONSUMPTION TEST IF THE FAILURE WAS NOT RELATED TO THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS SMOKING. WE GOT IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS OVERHEATING BUT COULDN'T DIAGNOSIS FULL ENGINE ISSUE. WE HAD TO GET TO A KIA DEALER TO DO AN ENGINE TEAR DOWN. THEY FOUND 6 THREADS STRIPPED AND DECIDED THEN IT NEEDS A NEW ENGINE. WE'VE CONSISTENTLY DONE OUR OIL CHANGES AND MAINTENANCE SO IS VERY CONCERNING HOW QUICKLY AND SEVERELY THIS ENGINE ISSUE CAME UP.
