RIGHT REAR DOOR HANDLE FELL OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN THE PARKING LOT.
DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, MY 2016 KIA SORENTO HAD NO OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. I'VE USED SYNTHETIC OIL WITH EVERY CHANGE SINCE BUYING THE SORENTO NEW. WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT SHOWING UP, THE ERROR CODE SUGGESTS REPLACING THE INTAKE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. SYMPTOMS THAT BEGAN WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT INCLUDED THE FOLLOWING: REVVING OF RPMS IN PARK, SLOW ACCELERATION WHEN TRYING TO CROSS A BUSY HIGHWAY (IT STALLS), AND CLIMBING INTO 6K RPMS WHEN GOING UP HIGHWAY INCLINES (HILLS) AT 55-60 MPH. AND THERE IS STILL THE QUESTION OF "WHERE DID THE OIL GO IN THE FIRST PLACE?" THERE IS NO EXTERNAL LEAK OF ENGINE OIL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED OIL CONSUMPTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE INSPECTED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS LOW. THE MECHANIC TOPPED OFF THE OIL AND REPLACED A COIL THAT WAS BURNT OUT. THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KIA OF MURFREESBORO (2505 S CHURCH ST, MURFREESBORO, TN 37127, (877) 772-8711) WHERE AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WAS COMPLETED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO FIND THE SOURCE OF THE OIL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 68,000.
ALL 4 TIRES ON 2016 KIA SORENTO ARE DRY ROTTING AT VERY FAST PACE. THE TIRES ARE MICHEL8N PREMIER LTX 235 55/R19 M&S WHICH SHOULD LAST 60,000 MILES. I AM AT 39,600 AT CURRENT TIME. DRY ROT IS VERY APPARENT ON EACH TIRE. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW W TIRES AS NOTED ON IT AT KIA DEALERSHIP IN NEWPORT NEWS VA IN 2016.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY HEADLIGHTS WILL OCCASIONALLY GO OFF.
I STARTED EXPERIENCING OVERHEATING ISSUES IN JULY. KNOWING KIAS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR ENGINE TROUBLE, MY MECHANIC CHECKED THE HEAD GASKET. IT WAS FINE BUT MY RADIATOR FAN NEEDED REPLACED. THE VERY NEXT DAY AFTER HAVING MY FAN REPLACED, MY HEAD GASKET BLEW, DRIVING DOWN A STATE ROUTE. NO WARNING, NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, NOTHING. I HAVE NOW HAD MY ENTIRE ENGINE REPLACED (LONG BLOCK, CYLINDER HEAD, AND GASKETS). THEY HAVE NOW DISCOVERED THAT MY RADIATOR IS LEAKING, WHICH LIKE THE RADIATOR FAN, IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. IT SEEMS THAT KIA KNOWS THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THESE CARS AND IS DOING NOTHING TO RECALL THEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S DOOR REMAINED LOCKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DOOR ONLY OPENED FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND THE TRUNK WAS LOCKED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JEFF WYLER KIA (5815 DIXIE HWY, FAIRFIELD, OH 45014, (513) 682-2500) WHERE THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH WAS REPLACED AND THE TRUNK WAS UNLOCKED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,300. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
DURING NORMAL VEHICLE OPERATION, BOTH ON THE HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY LOSE POWER STEERING AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES RANDOMLY WITHOUT WARNING, STEERING WAS NORMAL AND THERE WERE NO AUDIBLE NOISES WHEN STEERING PRIOR TO POWER STEERING FAILURE. PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK, TURNING OFF AND RESTARTING THE CAR FIXED THE PROBLEM A FEW TIMES, SOMETIMES FOR A FEW DAYS BETWEEN OCCURENCES. EVENTUALLY POWER STEERING WAS LOST FOR GOOD AND NEEDED TO BE TAKEN TO A MECHANIC FOR REPAIRS. THERE WERE A FEW CLOSE CALLS LOSING POWER STEERING IN THE MIDDLE OF TURNS THAT NEARLY LED TO ACCIDENTS.
WHILE DRIVING OUR KIA SORENTO AT 45 MILES PER HOUR, ALL SYSTEMS SHUT DOWN AND THE BRAKE ENGAGED BRIEFLY.
WHEN TRYING TO SPEED UP TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON BLINKING AND MY CAR WAS CHUGGING AND WOULD NOT GO PAST 2 RPMS. SECOND TINE THIS HAS HAPPENED SINCE BOUGHT MY CAR AT THE BEGINNING OF AUGUST.
STEERING- WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING GETS TIGHT AS IF THE POWER STEERING WAS OUT. WHEN YOU FIGHT TO COMPENSATE IT WOULD NORMALIZE CAUSING YOU TO JERK THE WHEEL. I COULD HAVE EASILY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. LIGHTNING- WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT ON A DARK HIGHWAY ALL THE LIGHT TURNED OFF. WE WERE COMPLETELY IN THDARK. WE PULLED OVER AND MOVED THE SWITCH FROM AUTOMATIC TO THE MANUAL LIGHT ON POSITION. WE LATER MOVED IT BACK TO THE AUTOMATIC POSITION AND IT WAS AGAIN WORKING PROPERLY. BOTH PROBLEMS CAN EASILY CAUSE YOU TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
THE AIRBAG SENSOR CAME ON. I HAD IT LOOKED AT AND TECHNICIAN SAID IT WAS A SHORT IN THE 2ND FIRING UNDER THE PASSENGER SIDE. HE THOUGHT THAT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN UNDER A SAFETY EQUIPMENT WARRANTY. KIA SAYS NO, IT IS UNDER THE BASIC WARRANTY, 60,000 MILES. MY KIA IS AT 66,000. THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR PAST MODEL YRS, BUT APPARENTLY HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED.
MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE BEGAN READING HOT WHILE DRIVING. AFTER REPLACING THE THERMOSTAT AND THE ETC SENSOR, MY CAR WAS DIAGNOSED AS HAVING A FAULTY COOLING FAN. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A QUALITY CAR THAT IS JUST A FEW YEARS OLD. I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A CAR FOR OVER A WEEK WHILE THEY TRACK DOWN THE PART AND IT IS GOING TO COST ME OVER $500 TO HAVE FIXED.
I brought my car brand new from the KIA DEALERSHIP.. I started to notice paint that was missing which I thought maybe from a rock(2019)But the peeling continued to peel. At this point my hood is 35% peeled off now and the top of my Kia is now starting to peel . I have noticed a lot of Kia owners that have this exact same problem.
S10 DIRECT REPLY - A LETTER FROM A CONSTITUENT WHO SENT IN A COMPLAINT REGARDING ENTERPRISE RENTAL. NOT CONGRESSIONAL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE JOLTED INTO A DITCH. THE CONSUMER WAS HAVING ISSUES HAVING THE VEHICLE RECALL REPAIR COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO LOKEY KIA (27960 US-19, CLEARWATER, FL 33761, (888) 458-9360) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND COMPUTER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 92,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAIALBLE.
DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT UNLOCK OR OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. YOU CAN ONLY O PO ON THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE THEN WHEN HITTING THE LOCK OR UNLOCK ON KEY FOB YOU HEAR A CLICK, CLICK, CLICK NOISE.
AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN AND STARTING TO ENTER THE HIGHWAY I LOST ACCELERATED POWER. IT DID ACCELERATE BUT VERY SLOWLY. THE CAR GOT UP TO ABOUT 20MPH. NO MATTER HOW HARD I PRESSED THE GAS PETAL IT DIDN'T CAUSE THE CAR TO ACCELERATE. THIS CAN HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGER SITUATION.
TAKATA RECALL WHILE DRIVING MY CAR, IT COMPLETELY SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. IT WAS ALMOST LIKE IT WAS OUT OF GAS BUT HAD A FULL TANK GAS. WE TESTED THE BATTERY ALSO. IT STILL FAILED TO START BACK. IT WOULD NOT START BACK AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS AND I HAD TO GET IT TOWED YESTERDAY. THE MECHANICS I HAD IT TOWED TO SAYS THEY THINK IT MAY HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE ENGINE BUT ARE UNSURE.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE CAR JUST SHUT DOWN, NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ODD SOUNDS KIA DEALER SAID THEY ENGINE LOCKED UP
I WAS GETTING OVER INTO THE TURN LANE TO THE HWY THE BRAKES LOCKED UP AND I COULDN'T PUSH ON THE BRAKES THEY WERE REALLY HARD TO PRESS DOWN IT WAS LIKE A STONE THAT I WAS TRYING TO PUSH ON THE CAR WOULDN'T STOP I HAD TWO CHOICES RUN INTO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME OR RUN OVER A CURB FULL OF ROCKS SO I CHOSE THE ROCKS I HAD NO BRAKES
THE HEADLIGHTS GO OFF WHILE DRIVING FOR NO APPARENT REASON. APPARENTLY HAS HAPPENED FOR OVER A YEAR. RECENTLY MY SON DROVE THE CAR AND MENTIONED IT AND THEN MY DAUGHTER SAID THAT IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE LAST SUMMER.
BOTH HEADLAMPS ARE CRYSTALIZING IN THE FAR TOP CORNERS AND ARE CONTINUE TO SPREAD RAPIDLY. THE PLASTIC IS ROUGH OVER THE AREAS AND CANNOT BE BUFFED OUT OR REMOVED WITH HEADLAMP RESTORE PRODUCTS. EVERY DAY THIS IS EXPANDING IN AREA AND WILL LEAD TO HEADLAMPS NOT PROJECTING THE LIGHT ON TO THE ROADWAY. THIS IS HAPPENING IN DRIVEWAY OF MY HOME.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE HOME FROM WORK AND HEARD A POPPING SOUND AND THEN A SUDDEN EXPLOSION COMING FROM THE TOP OF MY CAR. WHEN I STOPPED AND CHECKED THE ROOF I FOUND THAT MY MOONROOF HAD A HUGE HOLE IN IT AND THE GLASS WAS SHATTERED IN THE FIRST PANEL. I SAW NOTHING KICKED UP FROM ANY VEHICLES WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND UNLESS A METEOR HIT MY CAR THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING BEING DROPPED ON IT WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I FEEL LIKE THE MOONROOF JUST SHATTERED. IT WAS A HOT DAY BUT THERE WAS NO CHANGES IN TEMPERATURE THAT WERE DRAMATIC.
ENGINE RANDOMLY STARTED OVERHEATING WHILE DRIVING, EVEN THOUGH CAR WAS REGULARLY MAINTENANCED/SERVICED. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP WAS TOLD WHEN THEY TORE DOWN THE ENGINE, FOUND REAR CYLINDER LEAKING COOLANT; THREADS TO ENGINE CAME OUT WITH BOLT ITSELF CAUSING IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE. WE WERE TOLD SINCE NOT ORIGINAL OWNERS NO WARRANTY. THIS WENT THROUGH KIA COMPLAINTS AND THEN TO THEIR REGIONAL PARTS MANAGER WHO DENIED ANY GOOD WILL. WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2016, IT IS A 2016 . IT HAD LESS THAN 30K MILES ON IT AND WE PRODUCED REGULAR MAINTENANCE RECORDS ON THE VEHICLE. WE HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET SOME RESOLUTION WITH KIA FOR OVER A YEAR.
PEARL WHITE PAINT STARTED PEELING OFF CAR
I purchased a new 2016 KIA Sorento Tow Package that stated on the invoice it included a Mobius part number C6061 ADUS9 (Tow Hitch Harness) –Sorento. They part failed June 2019 and was reported to the KIA Kearny Mesa dealership. They initiated a request for the part and it was not received to date. The KIA Customer Care Irvine center said the vehicle was not listed as having the part and therefore I was not entitled to the KIA internal recall SC142. (Google search C6061 ADUS9) Their explanation was the VIN didn't include the Mobius part number C6061 ADUS9. I emailed a copy of the purchase invoice that showed otherwise. Please force KIA to update their build database to include purchased options. This is the second time I have submitted this Safety Recall. Consumer would like to provide an update complaint number 11390630 with 11420441. Essentially the PROBLEM is KIA customer service will not honor its INTERNAL RECALL SC142 with consumer's vehicle and suspect they won't honor others with the same issue. The sell their new vehicles in California without a Trailer Brake controller and defective CLASS III tow hitch harness. Mobius part is C6061 ADUS9 (Tow Hitch Harness) – Sorento
VEHICLE STARTED TO MAKE KNOCKING SOUND WHEN DRIVING. THEY KNOCKING GOT LOUDER WITH ACCELERATION. TOOK VEHICLE HOME AND CHECKED THE ENGINE AND OIL. EVERYTHING SEEMED OK BUT THE KNOCKING SOUND CONTINUED. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO KIA DEALERSHIP AND FOUND OUT A ROD IN THE ENGINE WENT OUT CAUSING THE ENTIRE ENGINE TO GO OUT AND FAIL ON THE VEHICLE. THIS WAS ADDRESSED IN A PREVIOUS RECALL REGARDING THE ECU, BUT IT DID NOT PREVENT THE ENGINE FROM GOING OUT.
WHILE DRIVING STEERING HAS PLAY IN IT WHICH MAKES YOU CORRECT YOUR STEERING TOO MUCH
REAR POWER LIFT GATE DOOR ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. DOORS NOT OPENING WHEN TRYING TO OPEN USING KEY FOB, INSIDE BUTTON OR REAR ON DOOR BUTTON CAR IS PARKED AND NOT MOVING. DOORS TRYING TO OPEN BUT GIVING UP AND STAYING CLOSED. I FOUND THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THAT MECHANISM AND NUMEROUS OWNERS HAS SAME PROBLEM AND COMPLAINING ABOUT IT ON MANY FORUMS AND CAR DEALERS WEB PAGES. MY CAR WAS AT THE DEALER AND HE RECOMMENDED TO CHANGE LATCH ASSEMBLY NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY.
The contact owns a 2016 Kia Sorento. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the vehicle suddenly lost motive power and stalled. While inspecting under the hood of the vehicle, there was smoke, steam, and fluids coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the head gasket was blown. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were notified of the failure but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 51,248.
STRONG FUEL SMELL IN CABIN WHEN DRIVING AND STATIONARY.
THIS MORNING 5/8/19, WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, THE SUNROOF IN MY 2016 KIA SORENTO EXPLODED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. I WAS COVERED IN GLASS ALONG WITH THE INSIDE OF MY CAR. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER FROM A HIGH RATE OF SPEED AND GET OFF THE FREEWAY. I HAD TO TURN INTO A PARKING LOT AS GLASS KEPT SHATTERING AND BREAKING ON ME. ONCE I GOT HOME, MY HUSBAND CONTACTED PEORIA KIA WHO TOLD US THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE CAR AND WE HAD TO CALL KIA OF AMERICA.
STEERING HAS A "STICKY" FEELING WHEN DRIVING NO MATTER THE SPEED. THE STEERING WHEEL FEELS HARD TO PULL IN EITHER RIGHT OR LEFT DIRECTION. THIS HAPPENS DURING CITY DRIVING AS WELL AS HIGHWAY DRIVING. CREATES CONSTANT OVER CORRECTION, WHICH HAS LED TO VEERING INTO ANOTHER LANE. THIS "STICKY" FEELING DOES NOT OCCUR WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS ALREADY IN A TURNING OR TURNED POSITION.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT NIGHT THE LIGHTS WILL GO OFF. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR IN BRIGHT DAYLIGHT THE CAR LIGHTS WILL TURN ON. THE LIGHTS ARE IN THE "AUTO" MODE. I HAVE VIDEO OF THE DAYLIGHT ISSUE BUT NOT THE NIGHT. BOTH CORPORATE AND DEALERSHIP NEEDS TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM BEFORE THEY CAN "JUST CHANGE PARTS". WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE TO DO A RECALL? SOMEONE TO DIE AT NIGHT? AN ACCIDENT? THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON MY CAR @ 40,000, THEN 51,000 AND NOW AT 62,000 MILES. THEY ARE CLAIMING NO LONGER A WARRANTY ITEM EVEN THOUGH IT HAS BEEN IN THERE DEALERSHIP. THERE IS NUMEROUS OF THESE COMPLAINTS OUT THERE, A RECALL OF THE K900 WAS COMPLETED FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND SAME YEAR VEHICLES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 KIA SORENTO. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE STEERING ABILITY BECAME VERY LOOSE AND THE VEHICLE PULLED TO THE RIGHT. CAR ROCKS BACK AND FORTH AND MAKES QUICK MOVEMENTS FROM SIDE TO SIDE. THIS HAPPENS FROM 50 MPH UP TO 75-80 MPH. THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO BE EXTREMELY HARD TO CONTROL. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO JIM SHORKEY KIA (10785 PERRY HWY, WEXFORD, PA 15090) WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED FOR FRONT ALIGNMENT FAILURES. NEITHER PLACE WANTED TO ADDRESS A STEERING ISSUE, NEITHER DEALERSHIP CHECKED THE STEERING HAD NEW BRAKE (FRONT) REPLACEMENT, ALIGNMENT, TIRE BALACNCE, INSPECTION AND NEW TIRES. AFTER $1,000 EXPENSE STILL RESOLVING THIS PROBLEM. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON APRIL 15, 2019 AND WAS CURRENTLY BACK AT THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,280. *TT CONSUMER STATED NO SUSPENSION PROBLEM- COULD NOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM, IT SEEMS TO BE UNCLEAR. REPAIR AND SERVICE PERSONNEL SEEM TO THINK IT IS THE TIRES OR STEERING. THERE HAS BEEN AT LEAST 7 COMPLAINTS REGARDING STEERING PROBLEMS.
KIA KEARNY MESA, CA DEALERSHIP PERFORMED A CLASS III TRAILER HITCH TOW PACKAGE INSTALLATION WITH VIN PURCHASE THAT INCLUDED PART NUMBERS C6061-ADU00 AND RECALLED PART NUMBER C6061-ADUS9. THE CALIFORNIA LAW REQUIRED ELECTRIC BRAKE CONTROLLER WAS EXCLUDED. I COMPLETED THE CLASS III TOW PACKAGE MYSELF FOR ~$500.00 PARTS CHARGE AND USED IT AS A LEGAL TOW VEHICLE WITH A 3000 # RV FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS THEN EXPERIENCED THE TRAILER LIGHT SC142 FAILURE. I REPLACED THE SC142 RECALLED PART NUMBER C6061-ADUS9 WITH AN ETRAILER COMPANY PART NUMBER TEKONSHA 118269 SUCCESSFULLY AND FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL LATER. I PROVIDED THE RECEIPT OF DEALERSHIP INSTALLED INCOMPLETE TOW PACKAGE PART NUMBERS AND THE ETRAILER PART INSTALLED TO BOTH THE DEALERSHIP AND KIA CORPORATE CUSTOMER CARE WITHOUT RESOLVE FOR OVER A YEAR. I REQUEST THE KIA DEALERSHIP AND/OR KIA CORPORATION REIMBURSE $500.00 PARTS AND CURRENT LABOR COSTS FOR NEGLECT TO INSTALL A COMPLETE CLASS III TOW PACKAGE AT TIME OF PURCHASE AND DENIAL OF REIMBURSEMENT FOR RECALLED PART NUMBER REPLACEMENT COSTS.
THE CAR WAS STATIONARY WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, WAITING FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTES WHEN I SMELLED A STRONG EXHAUST SMELL. I BEGAN TO DRIVE, AND WITHIN 30 SECONDS SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED THE ENGINE JUST AS FLAMES CAME OUT FROM THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE HOOD. IN LESS THAN 5 MINUTES THE ENGINE WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES. THE FIRE FIGHTERS ARRIVED A MINUTE LATER AND TOOK QUITE SOME TIME TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE ENTIRE ENGINE AND FRONT OF THE CAR WAS BURNED COMPLETELY. THE CAR IS TOTALED. WE HAVE FILED A CLAIM WITH OUR INSURANCE AND REPORTED IT TO KIA.
TAKATA RECALL 1 MONTH AGO I PICKED MY SON UP FROM SCHOOL...AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE BY PUSHING THE GAS PEDAL. I COASTED HOME GOING 8 MILES PER HOUR. I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR 2 DAYS. WHEN I GOT BACK IN IT EVERYTHING WAS WORKING FINE. 2 WEEKS LATER I WENT TO HAVE MY OIL CHANGED AND WAS TOLD THERE WERE METAL SHAVINGS IN MY OIL FILTER, THERE WERE 2 INCHES OF SLUDGE AND THE OIL WAS BLACK. I KEEP MY VEHICLE SERVICED REGULARLY BECAUSE I COMMUTE TO WORK. THEY CHANGED MY OIL AND I LEFT. 10 MINUTES LATER I WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I WAS DRIVING TO THE STORE AND AGAIN I COULDN'T PUSH THE GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE AND A KNOCKING SOUND APPEARED. AS I TRIED TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD I LOOK IN MY REAR VIEW MIRROR TO SEE A WHITE CLOUD OF SMOKE COMING FROM MY CAR. SO THICK I COULDN'T SEE BEHIND ME. I COASTED INTO A PARKING LOT AND AT THIS POINT I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING, GAS PEDAL, OR BREAKS. I FINALLY ROLLED TO A STOP OUTNIT IN PARK AND GOT OUT OF MY CAR. EVERY DROP OF OIL THEY HAD PUT IN MY CAR WAS ON THE PAVEMENT. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND WE FOUND A HUGE HOLE IN THE OIL PAN WHERE MY ENGINE HAD APPARENTLY THROWN A ROD. THERE ARE 6 RECALLS ON THE YEAR MAKE AND MODEL OF MY CAR BUT NOT SPECIFICALLY ON MY VIN. EVERYTHING THAT HAS GONE WRONG INVOLVES THOSE RECALLS AND KIA ISN'T OWNING UP TO IT. MY BROTHER WORKS FOR TRUE CAR AND RAN A REPORT FINDING THAT THERE ARE RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE BUT KIA IS SAYING IT IS INACCURATE. I HAVE THE REPORT IN MY POSSESSION AND THEY WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO SEND IT TO THEM FOR PROOF.
ON 3/21/19 I WAS DRIVING THROUGH A EZ PASS TOLL PLAZA. I HEARD A VERY LOUD SOUND ALMOST LIKE AN EXPLOSION COMING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. MY CAR STARTED TO VIBRATE. I PULLED TO THE SIDE TO CHECK OUT THE CAR. I THOUGHT MY TIRE BLEW. THERE NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TIRES. THERE WAS NOTHING AROUND OR IN THE LANE OF THE TOLL PLAZA. I COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE REASON FOR THE SOUND. I DID SMELL AN ODD ORDER IN THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR WITHOUT ANY FURTHER PROBLEM. A FEW WEEKS LATER I HEARD A SQUEAKING SOUNDS WHEN DRIVING. RECENTLY I TOOK THE CAR TO KIA AND WAS ACCUSED OF THE CAR BEING IN AN ACCIDENT. I EXPLAINED TO THEM THE INCIDENT AND STATED THAT THE CAR WAS NEVER IN AN ACCIDENT. I WAS ADVISED BY KIA TO CONTACT MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO REPAIR THE ISSUES.
THE PROBLEM STARTED AROUND 50K MILES AND HAS BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE PROBLEM IS A STICKY FEELING IN THE STEERING. WHEN MAKING VERY SMALL CORRECTIONS IT IS LIKE THE POWER STEERING IS TURNED OFF. GENTLE PRESSURE DOES NOT TURN THE WHEEL AT ALL. AS MORE AND MORE PRESSURE IS APPLIED, IT IS LIKE THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY TURNS ON. THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO SWERVE DUE TO OVER CORRECTION.THE PROCESS REPEATS AS YOU CORRECT BACK THE OTHER DIRECTION. IN FACT, IN A GENTLE TURN ON THE HIGHWAY YOU CAN LET GO OF THE WHEEL AND THE VEHICLE WILL CONTINUE TO TURN, THE WHEEL NEVER RETURNING TO CENTER WITHOUT INTERVENING. ULTIMATELY, THE VEHICLE IS INCREDIBLY HARD TO CONTROL, AND I MUST LOOK LIKE A DRUNK SWERVING BACK AND FOURTH IN THE LANE. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS ESPECIALLY ON MOUNTAIN ROADS OR IN HIGH WINDS, ICE, AND SNOW. IT IS MORE NOTICEABLE ON THE HIGHWAY, BUT IT DOES IT ON CITY STREETS TOO, AND I CAN FEEL THAT IT IS HAPPENING EVEN WHEN THE VEHICLE IS AT A FULL STOP. IT WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST, BUT NOW IT IS DANG NEAR CONSTANT STARTING SINCE ABOUT 75K. I OPENED A SAFETY COMPLAINT WITH KIA. BASED ON WHAT I HAVE READ HERE AND ON BLOGS, KIA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THERE ARE 18 COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME THING FOR THE 2016 SORENTO HERE ON NHTSA AND THE 2017 SORENTA HAS 89! THE FIX IS SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS, SO IF THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY LIKE MINE, MOST PEOPLE WILL HAVE A HARD TIME AFFORDING THE FIX. KIA NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED OR KILLED. I AM DOCUMENTING THIS HERE SO THAT WHEN IT IS ME OR MY WIFE WHO DIES, THERE IS EVIDENCE OF KIA'S NEGLIGENCE. I COULD MAKE A VIDEO OF THE WHEEL NOT RETURNING TO CENTER ON THE HIGHWAY AS EVIDENCE, BUT THE FILE SIZE AND FORMAT WOULD NOT WORK HERE.
STEERING HAS A "CATCH" OR "STICKINESS" AT CENTER. CAUSES OVER CORRECTING AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THE HIGHER THE SPEED, THIS STICKINESS INCREASES. UNABLE TO MAINTAIN STEADY LANE POSITION.
"TAKATA RECALL" KIA SORENTO 2016 MODEL SX-AWD IT STARTED MAKING WEIRD NOISES FROM THE ENGINE AND FELT LITTLE THUMPS WHEN I PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR AND BINDING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE FROM THE BEGINNING OF 2019. THE CAR DOES NOT EXCEED OVER 90MPH.

I'VE SEEN A FEW REVIEWS AND COMPLAINTS ON HOW KIA'S (SORENTO'S IN PARTICULAR) HAVE BEEN LOSING THEIR HEADLIGHTS FOR NO REASON. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO ME, BUT JUST ON MY DRIVER SIDE FORTUNATELY. THE MAIN BULB IS NOT ILLUMINATING AND WILL NOT COME ON. I CHANGED THE BULB AND THIS DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. I LOOKED AT THE OLD BULB I REPLACED AND IT WAS FINE, NOTHING WAS SHOT OR BURNT OUT. I HAVE SEEN A COUPLE OF PEOPLE SAYING THIS COULD BE A CONNECTOR PROBLEM WHICH IN FACT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE BULB ITSELF. SEEING THAT THIS CAN COME UP SPONTANEOUSLY WORRIES ME AND A LOT OF OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD WHO WOULD NEED TO TRAVEL AT NIGHT. THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY KIA AND BE MADE A RECALL DUE TO THE FACT THIS HAPPENS ON PRACTICALLY NEWER VEHICLES (MY MILEAGE IS 31000) I WILL REFRAIN FROM KEEPING MY LIGHTS ON THE "AUTO" SETTING (WHICH WILL BE A WASTE OF MONEY NOW) SINCE THE PROBLEM MAY OCCUR FROM HAVING THE LIGHTS ON THIS SETTING. I HAVE NOT GOTTEN THE PROBLEM FIXED DUE TO HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST (REPLACING THE ENTIRE LIGHT FIXTURE ~ $600) AND THIS NOT COVERED BY THEIR WARRANTY EITHER (ANOTHER WASTE OF MONEY IF PURCHASED) I WILL BE RECONSIDERING MY CHOICE WITH KIA COME NEXT AUTO PURCHASE.
MY OUTER LIGHT BULB FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE TO THE MAIN LIGHTS IS OFF. I TOOK IT TO AUTO ZONE TO BUY A NEW BULB BUT WHEN THEY CHECKED IT AND MOVED THE BULB A BIT IT TURNED ON. TECH SAID IT'S NOT THE BULB BUT THE CONNECTOR. THAT THEY'RE USUALLY MELTING NOT CONNECTING CORRECTLY. ENDING FRYING THE WHOLE FRONT LIGHTS. THAT IT KEEPS OCCURING.. I CHECKED FOR ANY RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE AND NONE.
THE ENGINE IDLES AT 1500 RPM AT ALL TIMES, ONCE THE IDLES DROPS TO NORMAL AS YOU ARE DRIVING THE IDLE JUMPS BACK UP TO 1500 RPM. SOMETIMES IF YOU TURN ENGINE OFF THEN ON AGAIN THE IDLE GOES BACK TO NORMAL ,THEN IT WILL GO BACK TO 1500 RPM .
