TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE AWARE OF AN ONGOING FAILURE PERTAINING TO THE VEHICLE FAILING TO PICK UP SPEED UPON ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO A LIMP MODE OR A FORCED IDLE MODE EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER (MONTGOMERY CHEVROLET, 5325 PRESTON HWY, LOUISVILLE, KY 40213, (502) 968-6111) AND A SERVICE TECHNICIAN TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE REPLICATED OR DIAGNOSED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM A MANUFACTURER RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO HAD SEVERAL TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS, BUT REFUSED TO REMEDY THE FAILURE TO PROVIDE A REPAIR SOLUTION FOR THE CONTACT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT AND OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT AN ENGINEER FROM KIA WOULD HAVE TO INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. CAR STALLS OUT AFTER A RED LIGHT STOP OR A STOP SIGN. DOES THIS ON CITY STREETS AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 8 DIFFERENT TIMES.
THIS MODEL HAS 3 ROWS OF SEATS. THE 3RD ROW IS PULLED TO THE UPRIGHT POSITION FROM THE BACK HATCH ACCESS DOOR. HOWEVER, THERE DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE A LOGICAL WAY TO GET TO THIS 3RD ROW OF SEATING WITHOUT PHYSICALLY CRAWLING ON HANDS AND KNEES. WHAT AM I MISSING ?

STARING IN JANUARY 2017 (PURCHASED MAY 2016) AT AROUND 16K THE CAR STALLED SEVERAL TIMES IN TRAFFIC AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. NO WARNING LIGHT OR ANYTHING. WITHIN A MINUTE THE CAR BEGAN TO WORK AS NORMAL. TOOK IT IN TO KIA IN AVON, IN AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE BUT DID A SERVICE RECALL. HAPPENED AGAIN IN MAY 2017 AT 16K. THIS TIME MORE FREQUENTLY TO DUPLICATE. KIA COULD DUPLICATE AND SAID RELEARNED COMPUTER. NOTHING AGAIN UNTIL 19K IN JAN 2019 ON HIGHWAY. CAR BARELY MISSED ME AS I COATED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. KIA COULD NOT DUPLICATE AND ALTHOUGH SAID THEY WOULD ESCALATE FOR BUYBACK, NEVER CONTACTED ME AGAIN. DANGEROUS ISSUE AND WORSE THEY DONT SEEM TO CARE.

DEFECTIVE LOWER BALLJOINTS CAUSED A ROUGH RIDE. NOTICED 'CLANKING' SOUND FROM FRONT WHEELS WHEN PARKING VEHICLE. SUNROOF MALFUNCTION CAUSED THE SUNROOF TO NOT FULLY CLOSE AND OFTEN TIMES, REMAIN OPEN. DEALER INITIALLY CLAIMED THAT DRY TRACK CHANNELS WITH DEBRIS WAS THE MAIN CAUSE HOWEVER, THERE IS A DEFECT WITH THE MANUFACTURING/DESIGN OF THE PRODUCT.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT IT WAS VISIBLE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE AND WAS STARTING TO DETACH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER LOCATED IN LANCASTER, MA WHERE THE FIBERBOARD COVER WAS REPLACED WITH A USED FIBERBOARD, BUT IT WAS TOO LARGE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE MATERIAL WAS RIPPING DUE TO DRIVING OVER BRANCHES ON THE ROAD. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE MATERIAL OF THE UNDERCARRIAGE COVER WAS NOT DURABLE AND COULD POTENTIALLY CAUSE A SAFETY FAILURE. THIS 2016 KIA SORENTO (MFG 10/27/14) WILL LOSE POWER/TRACTION IN A PARKING LOT WHEN TRYING TO PULL OUT INTO CROSS TRAFFIC, CREATING A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. THE DEALER SAYS HE IS UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND THEREFORE CANNOT FIX IT. I CANNOT SELL/GIVE THIS UNSAFE VEHICLE TO A FAMILY MEMBER UNTIL IT IS CORRECTED. VERY DANGEROUS.
Has a steering control issue. I am now on my 3rd steering columm replacement. They do not correct the sticky on center steering control issues. Kia has not come up with a workable solution for this. I have had it to 3 dealers so far. They all say the steering column needs to be replaced. Now out of warranty. This car is difficult to drive and control . I have had this problem since I bought it brand new. It now has 118000 miles on it with a lot of misery driving it.
TAKATA RECALL RENTED CAR FROM BUDGET. EXITED CAR AND THE BOTTOM CORNER OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR CAUGHT MY LEG PRODUCING A LARGE GASH IMMEDIATELY. UPON INSPECTION IT WAS CLEAR THAT THERE WAS A VERY SHARP PLASTIC MATERIAL AT THE BOTTOM CORNER OF THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A LOT.

THE LAST TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE GARAGE AND CAUSED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR BRUISING THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. MY WIFE HAD THE VEHICLE PARKED ON A SLIGHT SLOPE IN HER MOMS DRIVE WAY MAYBE A 10 DEGREE HILL. SHE PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND LEFT IT RUNNING WHILE MY DAUGHTER FINISHED A BIRTHDAY CARD SHE WAS MAKING IN THE BACK SEAT. MY WIFE STEPPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO GET SOME TISSUE PAPER OUT OF THE BACK WITH THE DRIVERS DOOR OPEN SHE PRESSED THE REAR DOOR /HATCH RELEASE OR OPEN BUTTON LOCATED ON THE DASH. SHE PRESSED THE BUTTON AT THAT MOMENT THE VEHICLE CAME OUT OF PARK AND WENT INTO REVERSE NEARLY RUNNING HER OVER SHE TRIED TO GET IN BUT THE VEHICLE TOOK OFF TO FAST SHE WAS KNOCKED OVER MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE CAR ROLLING OUT OF CONTROL DOWN THE DRIVE WAY. THE VEHICLE FOLLOWED THE DRIVEWAY DOWN CROSSING THE MAIN ROAD ONLY DOING SOME LIGHT DAMAGE WHERE IT RAN OVER THE MAIL BOX AND STOPPED BY HITTING A TREE. WE CONTACTED KIA AND OUR INSURANCE. KIA OPENED A CASE #K3237787 AND THEN THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED SINCE. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS PURCHASED AND LEFT IT THERE. WE HAVE STILL NO ANSWERS WHAT THEY ARE PLANNING TO DO WITH THIS VEHICLE. THIS EVENT HAPPENED ON 7-25-2016. WE ARE REQUESTING SOME HELP DUE TO NOT HAVING A VEHICLE WE FEEL IS SAFE TO PARK AND NOT WORRYING ABOUT IT COMING OUT OF GEAR AND POTENTIALLY KILLING SOMEONE IN ITS PATH. WE ALSO WOULD LIKE TO HAVE OUR VEHICLE REPAIRED AND BACK TO DRIVE SINCE WE ARE PAYING FOR IT.

SINCE I'VE BOUGHT THE CAR MOTOR WAS BURNING OIL, MECHANIC SAID THE MOTORS WHERE JUNK AND SINCE I HAVE TO CHANGE MY OIL ONCE A MONTH AND IT STILL CONTINUES TO BURN OIL . MY OIL LIGHT HAS NOT WORKED SINCE WE BOUGHT IT, I WILL ADD. ALSO SOMETIMES MY CAR STALLS AND DOESN'T WANT TO START OR IS DELAYED. NOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COME ON AND THROWS THE CODE P0014. I HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR 3 RECALLS ALREADY AND NOW THEY WON'T FIX ANYTHING SINCE MOTOR IS OVER 60,000 MILES BUT WHEN WE CALL ED BEFORE HAND TO GET IT FIXED THEY SAID THEY NEEDED SO MANY CONSECUTIVE OIL CHANGES AND RECORDS BEFORE THEY DID ANYTHING NOW IT'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY CONVIENETIY. I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER KIA I HAVE NEVER HAD SO MANY ISSUES.

I FEEL THAT THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION. THEY TELL ME THAT THIS IS THE WAY THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK, AND ARE WORKING ACCORDING TO SPECIFICATIONS AND THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO TO CORRECT IT. TODAY I RECEIVED A CALL FROM MR. WHEN OPENING THE (FRONT PASSENGER & DRIVER) DOORS FROM OUTSIDE, DOOR DOES NOT OPEN EACH TIME WHEN HANDLE IS PULLED. WHEN DOOR IS OPENED FROM THE INSIDE, DOOR DOES NOT PROPERLY LATCH, THUS, OPERATOR CANNOT SECURE THE DOOR TO CLOSE OR LOCK VEHICLE. CANNOT SECURE OCCUPANT SAFELY INSIDE VEHICLE FOR OPERATION. (MARCH 2016) HAD TO RIG FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WITH SEATBELT TO KEEP DOOR CLOSED ON HIGHWAY. (APRIL 2016) ONCE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE & LATCH WAS REPLACED, SAME ISSUE OCCURRED ON DRIVER SIDE.

THE VEHICLE WHILE TRAVELING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WILL VIOLENTLY AND SUDDENLY TRY TO MOMENTARILY MOVE EITHER LEFT OR RIGHT FROM ITS NORMAL STRAIGHT AHEAD FORWARD MOVING POSITION. THE MOVEMENT IS MUCH LIKE WHEN A CAR EXPERIENCES A VERY STRONG GUST OF WIND FROM THE SIDE WHEN TRAVELING AT HIGHER SPEEDS, EXCEPT IN THESE CASES THERE IS NO OUTSIDE FORCES INVOLVED. THESE EVENTS SEEM TO BE RANDOM WHEN THEY OCCUR WITH NO BRAKING OR HUMAN MOVEMENT TO THE STEERING WHEEL IN ANY WAY. THE EFFECT OF THE EVENT CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO MOVE OUT OF THE NORMAL STRAIGHT LINE FORWARD TRAVEL LANE SUDDENL AND WITHOUT ANY ADVANCE NOTICE, WHICH IS A VERY SCARY AND UNSAFE SITUATION. THE EVENT DISCRIBED HAPPENS CAN OCCUR AT MID TO HIGHER SPEEDS AND ON ALL TYPES OF STREETS, BUT IS MOST DANGEROUS WHEN IT OCCURS AT THE HIGHER SPEEDS OR IN INTER CITY CLOSE CONTACT AREAS.
WITH KEYLESS ENTRY/ON/OFF WHEN ENGINE TURNED OFF CAR ROLLS AWAY AS THERE IS NO INTERLOCK ASSURING ME THAT TRANS WAS PUT INTO PARK PROPERLY.
WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO 2ND GEAR THE TRANSMISSION DOES A HARD DOWNSHIFT RIGHT AROUND 25-31 MPH CAUSING THE CAR TO JERK.
NO SEAT BELT WARNING ON PASSENGER SIDE. A SAFETY ISSUE
In the past year my vehicle has exhibited a high consumption of oil. At present it has 92000 miles. At last check it consumed 1.7 quarts of oil in 750 miles. I have done as request by Kia. They request I do an oil change at the dealer followed up by checks at 1000 miles ( 2 quarts low). At the check at 2000 miles it was again 2 quarts low. They performed what they called a combustion chamber cleaning that was again followed by a check at 1000 miles (1.1 quarts low). After the next check it was at the 1.7 quarts used in 750 miles. Although Kia advertises a 10 year 100000 mile warranty they are excluding me from repair because I am the second owner. I did purchase an extended warranty for 4 years and up to 100000 total miles but I didn’t find the problem until March / April of this year. Kia admits this was caused by soft, improperly heated rings but will not offer any assistance to alleviate the problem. Do I have any recourse with Kia on this and can you help?

NO ACCIDENT OR ANY SUCH THING HAS HAPPENED YET BUT I THINK SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THE HEADLIGHTS AS THEY ARE TOO EASILY COVERED WITH MUD WHILE DRIVING ON WET ROADS. I WAS DRIVING TO ANOTHER CITY 2 HOURS AWAY AND IT GOT DARK OUT AND WHEN I NOTICED I COULDN'T REALLY SEE AHEAD OF ME VERY FAR AND I KNOW THE HEADLIGHTS ON THIS CAR ARE AMAZING. SO I STOPPED AND SURE ENOUGH THE HEADLIGHTS WERE ALL COVERED WITH SPATTER FROM OTHER VEHICLES TIRES SPLASHING THE WET ROAD UP ONTO THEM. FINALLY AFTER CLEARIN THE MUD OFF OF THE HEADLIGHTS I COULD SEE AGAIN FAR IN FRONT OF ME. BUT NOT EVEN 30 MINUTES LATER DID I HAVE TO STOP AGAIN TO CLEAR OFF THE HEADLIGHTS SO I COULD SEE IN FRONT OF ME.

YOU CAN SHIFT THE CAR FROM PARK TO REVERSE/DRIVE WITHOUT PUTTING ENOUGH PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE TO ACTUALLY ENGAGE THE BRAKE PADS TO THE BRAKE ROTORS. IF YOU AREN'T PAY ATTENTION TO HOW HARD YOU ARE PRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE, THE CALL WILL START TO MOVE AT A NORMAL SPEED. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO TWO KIA DEALERSHIPS AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD THIS IS NORMAL AND SAFE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. ONE DEALERSHIP EVEN CHECKED OTHER 2016 SORENTOS ON THE LOT AND IT WAS THE SAME FOR THEM AS WELL. THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY.

OUR MILEAGE AT THE TIME WAS LESS THAN 200 MILES. [XXX] WAS DRIVING AND I WAS THE FRONT PASSENGER. THE ROOF WAS CLOSED AS WAS THE CLOTH SHIELD (WHICH PROBABLY SAVE OUR LIFE). THE EXPLOSION WAS VIOLENT LIKE AN M-80 GOING OFF. WE COLLECTED SOME OF THE GLASS SHARDS (WHICH SHATTERED INTO LITTLE SHARP PIECES WHICH WOULD HAVE PROBABLY KILLED US) AND CHUNKS OF GLASS ON TOP OF THE SHIELD. AT THE TIME, WE WERE ABOUT 900 MILES FROM HOME AND FOUND A TOOL STORE, PURCHASED DUCT TAPE AND TAPED THE REMAINING MOON ROOF (SEE PICTURES) TO GET US ON THE ROAD HOME. LUCKILY, THERE WAS NO RAIN ON OUR REMAINING JOURNEY. I CONTACTED OUR DEALERSHIP GERALD KIA NAPERVILLE WHERE THEY REQUESTED WE FILE A CONSUMER COMPLAINT WITH KIA CORPORATE (CASE #[XXX]) WHERE THEY DENIED ANY ISSUES RELATED TO THEIR PANORAMIC SUN ROOF (THOUGH THERE ARE NOTED SUITS, ARTICLES, TELEVISION INTERVIEWS AND OF COURSE NHTSA INVESTIGATIONS (HTTPS://WWW.GOOGLE.COM/?GWS_RD=SSL#Q=KIA+SORENTO+SUNROOF+EXPLOSIONS). THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN STRAIGHT ON A 4 LANE ROAD AT SLOW SPEEDS DUE TO TRAFFIC. THE REAR PANE OF THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF IMPLODED WITHOUT BEING STRUCK BY ANY OBJECT. LUCKILY THE SHADE WAS CLOSED UP TO THE FRONT PANE OF GLASS WHICH PREVENTED THE GLASS FROM SHOWERING THE OCCUPANTS.
