TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V750000 (ENGINE) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER AND HESITATED TO ACCELERATOR ABOVE 50 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KIA COUNTRY OF CHARLESTON (2361 SAVANNAH HWY, CHARLESTON, SC 29414 (843) 573-2300) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD OIL CONSUMPTION FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT MANAGED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED A SECOND TIME AND DETERMINED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 175,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHEN IN DRIVING MODE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COME ON AND NO OTHER CODES POP ON WHEN VEHICLE WAS SCAN. TWO MISS CALLS ON THE HIGHWAY ALMOST GOT INTO A BAD ACCIDENT
THE ENGINE BLEW, LEAKING OIL. APPARENTLY A LIFTER WAS MAKING A TAPPING NOISE, WE WERE TOLD THE ENGINE WAS UNREPAIRABLE.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC THAT THERE WERE TWO RECALLS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND 17V608000 (STEERING). THE CONTACT CONTACTED DAN O'BRIEN KIA NORWOOD (105 BOSTON PROVIDENCE HWY, NORWOOD, MA 02062) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS IN THE SYSTEM FOR THE VEHICLE, EXCEPT FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES. A VIN SEARCH CONFIRMED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND 17V608000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE OIL PAN AND SEVERAL UNKNOWN SENSORS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,600.
DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, SMOKE STARTED COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD, STOPPED ON THE SHOULDER AND PAINT WAS BLISTERING ON THE HOOD END ENGINE JUST BURST INTO FLAMES, FLAMES WERE COMING OUT OF THE DASH, IN MINUTES ENTIRE CAR WAS BURNED
WHILE WAITING AT A LIGHT ON A HILL MY ENGINE SHUT OFF WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART IT. TWO DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY INTERSECTION MY ENGINE SHUT DOWN AGAIN WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN I RESTARTED IT, IT ACCELERATED REALLY FAST. I AM NOW AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. IT ONLY HAS 52,000.MILES ON IT AND THE MAINTENANCE IS UP-TO-DATE ON IT.
ON SEPTEMBER 24, 2020, I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING HOME WHEN MY KIA SOUL STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE NO LIGHTS CAME ON AND NO WARNING. THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND I HAD PULL ON THE SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY AND HAD TO TOWED IT HOME. THE NEXT DAY, I TOWED IT TO KIA CAR PROS IT'S BEEN THERE SINCE. AFTER TWO WEEKS, I WAS ADVISED THAT IT HAS A BLOWN ENGINE. THESE VEHICLES HAVE A RECALL THAT CAUSE THE ENGINE TO BLOW UP. I HAVE REQUESTED FOR A DIAGNOSTIC REPORT AS OF TODAY THEY HAVE NOT PROVIDED ME WITH ONE. YOUR ASSISTANCE TO THIS URGENT MATTER IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. MICHAEL NARANJO
TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO MY LOCAL KIA DEALER FOR A LETTER TITLED "PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN" SENT FROM "CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS" TO PERFORM A "SOFTWARE UPDATE ON 2014-2016 GASOLINE DIRECT INJECTION (GDI) ENGINE TO PROTECT THE ENGINE FROM EXCESSIVE CONNECTING ROD BEARING DAMAGE. UPON PICKING IT UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP, THE CEL (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT) IMMEDIATELY BEGAN FLASHING WITHIN A FEW MILES OF DRIVING OFF THE DEALERSHIP. IN TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND WITH THEIR COLLABORATION WITH THE CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS, KIA IS UNABLE TO FIX MY CAR. I HAVE HAD A RENTAL CAR FOR 30 DAYS NOW. KIA HAS OFFERED 2 CASH AMOUNTS FOR COMPENSATION, BOTH OF WHICH WILL NOT COVER REPLACING THE ENGINE. THE CAR WORKED PERFECT BEFORE ALL THIS BEGAN AND I HAVE RECORDS TO PROVE THAT. VEHICLE WAS METICULOUSLY DEALER ONLY MAINTAINED. I HAVE REQUESTED A NEW ENGINE FROM A NON-PROBLEMATIC 2017 OR NEWER KIA SOUL OR A 2017OR NEWER KIA SOUL REPLACEMENT VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM KIA CORPORATE HEADQUARTERS AS OF YET. WAS TOLD I WOULD HEAR FROM SOMEONE BY 10/30/2020.
ROD BEARING FAILURE CAUSING THE ENGINE TO SEIZE. HAPPENED WITH NO WARNING SIGNS, AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE'S OIL/ENGINE CHANGED OR FILTERED AN UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF TIMES. SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING BETWEEN 80K-120K MILES ON AVERAGE. WHEN ENGINE SEIZED THE SOUL DROVE AS NORMAL, BEGAN MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE AND SECONDS LATER IT SHUT OFF.
My catalytic converter continuously fails. I have fixed it once, but yet my car still jerks and uses a lot of oil. As for being put at risk, my accelerator takes time to accelerate which can prevent any accidents on the road, putting myself and my family in danger. I have visited my local car dealer and they never mentioned anything about all the recalls my car had. I went in to get my airbags fixed but nothing was ever risen of the rest on the list. From what I know this car was never inspected by manufacturer police. I began to have this problem the first year (2020). This Kia Soul was purchased preowned, and was rarely use by its owner (Pristine Condition). Once I started to drive it more it began to jerk a lot, make clicking noises and the engine oil and check engine light would turn on. It took a while for it to even alert me. I paid all this out of pocket and wasn’t ever brought up anything about the recalls this car had.
ENGINE FAILED DURING REGULAR DAILY DRIVING. SPUN ROD BEARING WAS THE DIAGNOSIS. ENGINE WAS LESS THAN 1 QUART LOW, NOT ENOUGH TO CAUSE ENGINE SEIZURE
THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2014 KIA SOUL FLICKER WHEN TURNED ON. THIS MAINLY HAPPENS WHEN I USE THE TURN SIGNALS. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE A RECALL REMEDIED BY KIA. THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND HAVE SO FAR ONLY ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN..

THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND FOUND THAT THE ENGINE WAS CONSUMING OIL PREMATURELY. THE CONTACT ALSO FOUND THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS OVERHEATING DUE TO THE PREMATURE OIL CONSUMPTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC RETRIEVED FAILURE CODE: P0420 CATALYST SYSTEM EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD. THE MANUFACTURE WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
INTERMITTENT LOSS OF BRAKES (NO PRESSURE, STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR, PUMPING DOES NOT HELP), EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO REPLICATE ON COMMAND. AFTER LOSS OF BRAKES IN A PARKING LOT, THEN AT AN INTERSECTION, REPLACED ALL ROTORS/PADS, MASTER CYLINDER AND NO LEAKS OR OTHER WARNING SIGNS. GIVEN ISSUE WITH REPLICATION, NEVER RECEIVED A DIAGNOSTIC CODE AFTER 4 WEEKS OF TRYING. REPLACED ABS SYSTEM, AS ONLY OPTION LEFT TO FIX A BRAKING ISSUE, AND ISSUE APPEARS TO BE RESOLVED. KIA HAS HAD PROBLEMS WITH ABS MODULES BUT ONLY RECALLED FOR CERTAIN VEHICLES WITH FIRE HAZARD. SPENT THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TRYING TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AND COULD NOT DRIVE DUE TO SAFETY HAZARD FOR OVER 1 MONTH WHILE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM.
HEADLIGHTS ON THE LIGHTS START FLICKERING WHEN I BEGIN TO PULLOUT INTO THE MAIN STREET.WENT TO TURN AND HAD THE TURN SIGNAL ON AND HEADLIGHTS STARTS FLICKERING AGAIN. TOLD MY SON HE SAID IT HAPPENED TO HIM SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT A WEEK AGO.
IN JULY 2020 I WAS HELPING THE NATIONAL GUARD IN THE COVID-19 RESPONSE AND ON MY WAY TO THE UNIT, I DROVE FOR ABOUT 3 MINUTES ON THE HIGHWAY AND THEN MY CAR STALLED. I WAS GOING 63 MPH AND THEN 40 MPH. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND WAS A LITTLE STUNNED AS IT WAS VERY DANGEROUS TO DO SO. I EVENTUALLY WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY. I TOWED MY CAR TO FIRESTONE AND THEY SAID THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD HAD TO BE CHANGED. I PAID OVER $800 FOR THIS. ON SEPTEMBER 7, 2020, MY CAR STALLED AGAIN. I WAS DRIVING ON THE MASSPIKE ON CRUISE CONTROL AT 65 MPH AND WHEN TRIED TO INCREASE MY SPEED TO SWITCH LANES, THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE. I THEN, LET GO OF THE PEDAL AND TRIED TO PRESS IT AGAIN, EXCEPT THIS TIME, MY CAR ACCELERATED BUT THE CAR WAS SHAKING. MY ENGINE LIGHT WAS BLINKING AND THEN WHEN I GOT TO A POINT TO STOP, MY CAR SHUT OFF ON ME. IN BOTH SCENARIOS, I GOT MY OIL CHANGED RIGHT BEFORE THE ISSUES. IN JULY I DID THE OIL CHANGE AND THREE DAYS LATER MY CAR STALLED. IN AUGUST I GOT MY OIL CHANGED AND MY CAR STALLED TWO WEEKS LATER ON SEPT. 7TH. NOW MY ENTIRE ENGINE HAS TO BE REPLACED AND THAT COSTS OVER $8000! THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND I WILL NEVER BUY A KIA AGAIN. THEY WONT EVEN TELL ME HOW IT HAPPENED BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW HOW IT HAPPENED. SO THE CAUSE IS UNKNOWN. I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED. I BOUGHT THE CAR USED IN 2018 AT 35,000 MILES AND NOW IT IS AT 125,000 MILES. IT LOOKS LIKE THE ONLY OPTION IS TO FORK OUT $8,000 OR TO THROW OUT THE CAR! KIA WILL NOT COVER ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT AND THEY SAY IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL BUT THE SYMPTOMS OF THE CAR ARE AN EXACT REPLICA OF WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THE RECALL. MAYBE THEY JUST DO NOT WANT TO ADMIT THAT THE ENGINES ARE DEFECTIVE. I HAVE SEEN SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND NOTHING GOOD HAPPENS. KIA, YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES FOR ALLOWING THIS TO GO ON FOR SO LONG.
THE ENGINE IN MY 2014 KIA SOUL + BEGAN KNOCKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY. WITHIN SECONDS OF HEARING THE KNOCKING, I WAS UNABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR AND THE CAR DANGEROUSLY SLOWED DOOWN ON A HIGHWAY WITH FAST MOVING VEHICLES. I PULLED OVER TO THE SHOULDER TO FIND MY OIL HAD BURNED AND MY ENGINE WOULD NO LONGER START. MY OIL WAS CHANGED EXACTLY 7 DAYS BEFORE THE OIL WAS COMPLELTY BURNED OUT OF THE OIL TANK. THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM UNTIL MY CARS ENGINE WAS NO LONGER ABLE TO TURN OVER DUE TO LACK OF OIL. AAA CAME TO PICK ME UP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND DROVE MY CAR 60 MILES TO MY MECHANIC BEFORE A KIA DEALERSHIP COULD TAKE IT. MY CAR IS NOW AT KIA, AND THEY ARE REFUSING TO REPLACE MY ENGINE. THERE HAS BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ENGINE IN THIS SPECIFIC TYPE OF CAR. I AM HOPING THAT KIA WILL ADMIT TO THE ENGINE AND OIL TANK BEING FAULTY AND REPLACE MINE FREE OF CHARGE. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THESE ENGINES AND THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD PAY FOR THE DAMAGES.
WHEN USING THE TURN SIGNAL, THE HEADLIGHTS WILL FLICKER OR GO OFF. IN ADDITION, ALL INTERIOR NIGHT LIGHTS AND DISPLAYS GO BLACK. THIS HAPPENS BOTH WHILE IN MOTION AND WHILE STATIONARY. THE RADIO AND SPEEDOMETER DO NOT GO OFF SO THIS IS ONLY NOTICEABLE AT NIGHT BUT THIS IS WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE REALLY NEEDED. THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATEDLY.
IF YOU TURN ON THE HEADLIGHTS THEY LIGHTS WILL FLICKER ON AND OFF AND SOMETIMES JUST GO OFF WITHOUT WARNING WHICH AT NIGHT CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION WHILE DOING THIS AND IT CAN BE ON CITY STREET OR HIGHWAY AND ALSO HAPPENS WHEN TURNING OR JUST GOING STRAIGHT

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH ACTIVATED, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CONTINUOUSLY FLICKERED CAUSING A VISIBILITY HAZARD TO THE DRIVER. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT YET DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER DENNIS DILLON KIA LOCATED AT 9501 WEST FAIRVIEW AVENUE ' SUITE. B, BOISE, ID 83704, WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATED WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS CONNECTOR MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KIA OF ANDERSON, 5281 US-76, PENDLETON, SC 29670, AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS CONNECTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTION THAT THE HIGHT AND LOW BEAM WOULD INTERMITTENTLY ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THEY CONSTANTLY HAD TO REPLACED THE BULB. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 136,000.
DRIVING DOWN THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING AND THE SPEED DECLINED DOWN TO 60MPH, IN AN INSTANT. VERY DANGEROUS AND ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS HAD VEHICLES BEHIND ME AND THEY HAD TO VEER OFF TO THE SIDE IF THE ROAD TO AVOID HITTING ME. I WAS NOT BREAKING, NOT PASSING ANOTHER CAR. MY VEHICLE HAD A DAMAGED CATALYTIC CONVERTOR THAT WAS REPLACED UNDER THE RECALL. I WAS ASSURED THAT THERE WAS NO DAMAGE ELSEWHERE, WITH THIS OCCURRING NOW, I DISBELIEVE THAT CLAIM.
The contact owns a 2014 Kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the malfunction indicator lamp illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the contact was unsure if the vehicle was diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the contact was informed that the recall information was not listed in the KIA database. In addition, the contact stated that the recall notification was received by mail, and the vehicle was not serviced under the recall repair. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
BOUGHT 2014 KIA SOUL ON 6/16/20 AT 106K MILES FROM HYUNDAI DEALER. DID NOT DRIVE FROM 8/8/20 TO 8/16/20-CAR WAS IN A SECURE LOCATION. DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, MADE A TURN, HEARD A CLUNKING NOISE AND CAR STALLED AND QUIT W/NO RESTART. DID NOT SEE ENGINE LIGHT BEFORE PREVIOUSLY. TOWED HOME, AND THEN TO CUMBERLAND KIA ON 9/5/20. PROMISED A LOANER CAR, BUT NEVER GOT ONE. THEY SAID THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN AND IT WOULD COST $8000 TO FIX IT. ONLY PAID $7500 FOR THE CAR. KIA WOULD NOT NEGOTIATE. HYUNDAI TRIED TO WORK WITH THEM AS WELL. CALLED KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS. THEY ASKED CUMBERLAND KIA IF THEY WOULD CONSIDER ANY "GOOD WILL"-THEY DECLINED. THE WHOLE DESCRIPTION OF WHAT HAPPENED FITS THE NHTSA RECALL #19V120-PART 573 SAFETY RECALL REPORT-BUT THE VIN# IS NOT SHOWING A RECALL. PURCHASED THE CAR BECAUSE OF CLEAN CARFAX (SEE ATTACHED). PAST SERVICES ON 3RD OWNER(PUCHASED AT 58K IN 2016) WERE ALL DONE AT CUMBERLAND KIA. HYUNDAI SAID THERE WERE 24 SERVICE RECEIPTS IN THE CAR FROM CUMBERLAND KIA. HYUNDAI HAD DONE THEIR SERVICE AND CERTIFICATION BEFORE THEY SOLD IT TO US. THE CAR WAS CLEAN AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, WELL TAKEN CARE OF. THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE ENGINE TO SUDDENLY BLOW LIKE THAT. WE NEED HELP!
CAR BEGAN LOSING POWER WHILE DRIVING (USING CRUISE CONTROL) ON BUSY HIGHWAY (CITY, 4 LANES OF TRAFFIC; 8/23/2020). DRIVER IMMEDIATELY STOPPED DRIVING CAR AND TRIED TO FIND SAFE LOCATION TO STOP. CAR STARTED MAKING LOUD NOISES FROM ENGINE. CAR WAS TOWED TO KIA DEALERSHIP (8/24/2020). KIA EMPLOYEE REPORTED HEARING THE NOISE UPON STARTING THE CAR, AND STATED HE KNEW IMMEDIATELY THAT A ROD MALFUNCTIONED AND OIL LEAKED INTO ENGINE. KIA DID NOT DO FURTHER INSPECTION. ENGINE/CAR IS TOTALED AND CANNOT BE DRIVEN. KIA QUOTED $7,400 REPAIR. SAID THIS WAS CAUSED BY LACK OF OIL CHANGE FROM OWNER. CAR HAS REGULAR OIL CHANGES WITH PAPERWORK TO CONFIRM USER MAINTENANCE. KIA SOULS WITH 1.6L ENGINE HAVE A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE. CAR'S LAST OIL CHANGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2500 MILES AGO.
WE WERE ON A 2 LANE HIGHWAY GOING HOME. WE STARTED UP A HILL AND THE CAR LOST POWER BUT WAS FINE AGAIN AFTER THE HILL, WENT UP ANOTHER HILL AND THE CAR LOST POWER AGAIN BUT THIS TIME IT STARTED MAKING A CLANGING NOISE IN THE MOTOR. WE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER. NO WARNING LIGHTS AT ALL. MY HUSBAND WHO WAS IN ANOTHER VEHICLE AHEAD OF US CHECKED EVERYTHING AND FOUND THE OIL WAS A LITTLE LOW BUT IT WASN'T TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE IT HAD ONLY BEEN A LITTLE OVER 3000 MILES AND IT IS ALWAYS CHANGED BEFORE OR AT 5000 MILES. HE ADDED OIL BUT THE NOISE WAS STILL THERE. WE HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO OUR MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC DID AN INSPECTION AND HE HEARD THE NOISE COMING FROM CYLINDER #3 AND HE DID A COMPRESSION TEST AND IT LOST COMPRESSION. HIS DIAGNOSIS IS THAT THE ROD IN CYLINDER #3 HAS BROKE AND WE NEED A NEW MOTOR. AFTER GETTING A HOLD OF KIA THEY WANT US TO TAKE IT TO A KIA DEALER AND PAY TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED BUT IT WILL COST US ALMOST $300 AND WE ALREADY PAID ONE CERTIFIED MECHANIC, FOR THAT WHICH WE DON'T HAVE. THE CAR WAS BOUGHT IN SEPTEMBER OF 2019 WITH A LITTLE OVER 90,000 MILES AND JUST HAD A LITTLE OVER 100,000 ON IT. THIS HAPPENED IN AUGUST OF 2020 AND THE VEHICLE IS JUST SITTING AS WE MAKE PAYMENTS ON SOMETHING WE CAN'T EVEN DRIVE. WE STILL OWE $7700 ON THE CAR AND A MOTOR WILL COST ALMOST THAT AMOUNT. AFTER READING ALL THE RECALLS KIA AND OTHER VEHICLES WITH THE SAME MOTORS HAVE DONE WE ARE AT A LOSS ON WHY KIA ISN'T REPLACING THE SAME MOTOR IN OUR VEHICLE. THE REPRESENTATIVE ON THE PHONE EVEN SAID IF WE TOOK IT TO KIA AND HAD IT DIAGNOSED THEY STILL WOULDN'T GUARANTEE THAT THEY WOULD DO ANYTHING TO HELP. WE HAVE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF THIS VEHICLE SINCE WE BOUGHT IT AND ALWAYS HAD THE OIL CHANGED. WE DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO REPLACE THE MOTOR. PLEASE HELP.
CATALYTIC CONVERTERS HAS GONE BAD OVER 350K KIAS HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE SAME REASON. MY GROUP OF ENGINES IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY IS NHTSA NOT DOING ANYTHING? I HAVE NO OIL LEAKS, CONSTANTLY HAVING TO PUT OIL INTO THE VEHICLE. AT 113000 MILES (13000 PAST WARRANTY) THE 2.0 LITER GDI ENGINE THREW A ROD THROUGH THE ENGINE BLOCK. NO WARNING. VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING FROM ACCESS LANE ONTO FREEWAY. VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED REGULARLY AT LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP. HAD REPORTED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS OF A INFREQUENT HICCUP WHEN ACCELERATING. UPON RESEARCH RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR 1.6L KIA SOUL MOTOR BECAUSE OF THE SAME PROBLEM. DEBRIS HAD BEEN LEFT IN ENGINE AT MANUFACTURING CAUSING ENGINE TO DETERIORATE AND DESTROY ITSELF WITHOUT WARNING. CLASS ACTION LAWSUITS HAVE BEEN SETTLED FOR MULTIPLE KIA MODELS FROM THE SAME 2014 TIME PERIOD WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. RESOLUTION WAS MONETARY AND EXTENSION OF WARRANTY TO 120000 MILES. WE HAVE SPOKEN WITH KIA AMERICA AND OUR LOCAL DEALER. NO ASSISTANCE OR RECOGNITION OF THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN OFFERED. THIS ISSUE HAD AFFECTED NUMEROUS 2014 KIA SOUL OWNERS THAT HAVE THE SAME ENGINE AND NO ONE IS GETTING ANYWHERE WITH THE MANUFACTURER. PLEASE HELP US!

DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH HEAD LIGHT ON. USED TURN SIGNAL AND WHEN TURNED CORNER, DASH BOARD LIGHTS STARTED BLINKING ON AND OFF AND HEAD LIGHTS WENT OFF THEN BACK ON TWO OR THREE TIMES. THIS HAS HAPPENED NOW THREE DIFFERENT TIMES. IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH WAY THE BLINKERS ARE SIGNALING, THE LIGHTS IN THE DASH FLICKER AND THE HEAD LIGHTS GO OFF AND ON.

AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I SEE THAT THERE HAS BEEN NUMEROUS RECALLS FOR KIA ENGINES BECAUSE OF ENGINE FAILURE AND OIL BURING. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS PARTICULAR ENGINE HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED? HOW MANY COMPLAINTS DOES IT TAKE? NOW SHE HAS A UNDRIVABLE CAR THAT IS ALSO NOT PAID FOR. WARRANTY HAS ALSO EXPIRED.

WHENEVER I START UP MY CAR, THE ENGINE SEEMS TO KNOCK. I TOOK IT TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES AND THEY INSISTED I JUST NEEDED AN OIL CHANGE. DETERMINED WE WERE ABLE TO ATTEMPT A DRIVE HOME AS CODE DESCRIPTION ONLINE INDICATED CAR WAS IN 'LIMP HOME MODE'. COULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 60, HAD DIFFICULTIES GOING UP HILL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AT TIME DECREASE IN POWER OCCURRED. WARNINGS OF ANY ISSUES PRIOR TO THIS. DAMAGED CATALYTIC CONVERTOR WAS REPLACED IN FEB OR MARCH OF THIS YEAR, UNDER RECALL, THOUGH TOLD NO DAMAGE TO ENGINE - HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? The contact owns a 2014 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving an abnormal sound was heard as the vehicle loss power with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact opened the hood and checked the oil dipstick and discovered there was no oil in the engine. The contact stated that the oil was change three weeks prior to the failure. The vehicle was towed to her residence and then towed to the NTB in Belair, MD to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the rod had punctured the oil tank. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was notified of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling). The Vin was included in the recall. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the mechanic was unable to retrieve a diagnostic trouble code. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 125,000.
WHILE DRIVING THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER AND THE RADIO/DASH LIGHTS GO BRIGHTER (LIKE THEY DO WHEN THE HEADLIGHTS ARE OFF), AND THEN THE LIGHTS FAIL ALTOGETHER. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY AND BECOMING A GREATER SAFETY ISSUE.
MY STEERING HAS A SIGNIFICANT KLUNK NOISE. AFTER SEARCHING THE INTERNET FOR INFORMATION REGARDING THIS SITUATION I FIND THAT THERE IS A RUBBER DRIVE COUPLING BETWEEN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE SHAFT WHICH TRANSFERS THE ROTARY MOTION OF THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LINEAR MOTION OF THE STEERING RACK WHICH STEERS THE FRONT WHEELS. THE CONSENSUS IS THAT THIS CAN EASILY RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE STEERING WHICH WOULD END IN A TOTALLY UNPREDICTABLE CRASH. THE RUBBER PART APPARENTLY DISINTEGRATES WITH TIME SUCH AS CRAZING FOUND IN OLD PLASTIC, PLEXIGLAS ETC.
