ENGINE BEGAN MAKING KNOCKING NOISE. CHECKED OIL LEVEL AND NO OIL WAS SHOWING ON THE DIPSTICK. HAD TO ADD 2.5 QUARTS OF OIL AND CONTINUED TO ADD AROUND 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. BEGAN TO NOTICE LOSS OF POWER/ACCELERATION AND GAS MILEAGE. TOOK VEHICLE IN TO HAVE SPARK PLUGS AND FUEL SYSTEM CLEANED. THIS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. REPLACEMENT HAS RESOLVED POWER ISSUES IN THE 3000 MILES I HAVE DRIVEN SINCE REPLACEMENT, BUT IS STILL USING OIL AT A HIGH RATE. CHECKED THE NHTSA WEBSITE AND NOTICED MANY OTHER OWNERS REPORTING THE SAME ISSUES. RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM KIA OVER THE SUMMER TO NOT GOT LONGER THAN 3750 MILES BETWEEN OIL CHANGES, SO KIA MUST KNOW THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL ISSUE A RECALL AS THEY HAVE DONE WITH THE 1.6L ENGINE.
WHILE DRIVING 70MPH ON A HIGHWAY, MY KIA SOUL SPONTANEOUSLY BURST INTO FLAMES UNDERNEATH A STRANGER STOPPED WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER LUCKILY. FIRE DEPT SAYS HAD WE NOT USED THE EXTINGUISHER, MY CAR QUITE LIKELY WOULD HAVE EXPLODED. PRIOR TO INCIDENT, I HAD NO WARNING LIGHTS ON, NO OIL LEAK, OIL NEEDED CHANGING SOON BUT WASN'T TOO LOW. THERE WAS NO COLLISION.
ABOUT THREE MONTHS AGO MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CODE WAS FOR A CATALYTIC CONVERTER. BUT THE LIGHT WENT AWAY AFTER A COUPLE DAYS AND I FORGOT ABOUT IT. LAST WEEK MY SON BORROWED THE CAR TO DRIVE 200 MILES BECAUSE HIS GRANDFATHER WAS DYING IN DALLAS. HE SAW THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON BUT THOUGHT HE COULD MAKE IT THERE AND BACK. BUT THE CAR BROKE DOWN AFTER PUFFS OF BLACK SMOKE AND DECREASED SPEED. TOWED IT TO AUTO REPAIR SHOP WHO SAID THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE CAR AND THE ENGINE WAS LOCKED UP. I TYPED THE VIN NUMBER INTO YOUR DATABASE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE CAR WAS UNDER RECALL FOR A DEFECTIVE PART. YOUR RECALL CODE IS 19V120. MANUFACTURER RECALL IS SC176. CALLED KIA MANUFACTURING AND THEY SAID GET THE CAR TO A KIA DEALERSHIP AND THEY'LL RUN A DIAGNOSTIC. IF THE TROUBLE CAME FROM THE DEFECTIVE PART THEY'D REPLACE THE ENGINE. JUST HEARD BACK FROM UNIVERSITY KIA IN WACO AND THEY SAID THERE WERE TWO LEAKS IN THE ENGINE BLOCK AND THEY DIDN'T GET A CODE FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER SO THEY WEREN'T LIABLE. BUT I GOT A CODE THREE MONTHS AGO. AND THEY COULDN'T TELL ME HOW THE ENGINE BLOCK LEAKS HAPPENED. JUST THAT IT WASN'T THEIR FAULT.
I PURCHASED THIS CAR IN MARCH NOT KNOWING IT HAD AN RECALL ON IT , MY CAR HAS THIS LOUD NOISE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD OF THE CAR , MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS THE ENGINE AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND IT WAS SMOKING VERY BAD THIS HAPPEN ON THE EWAY LUCKY I GOT IT TO THE HOUSE
WHILE DRIVING IN NEIGHBORHOOD CAME TO A STOP AND WHEN I PROCEEDED TO GO MY CAR WOULDN'T MOVE AND I WAS PRESSING ON GAS PEDAL, 5 SECONDS LATER MY CAR ACCELERATED REALLY FAST AND SUDDENLY AND I ALMOST REAR ENDED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE DELAYED SHIFTING HAS ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT THREE TIMES NOW! I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING MY KIA AND I JUST BOUGHT THIS CAR 2 MONTHS AGO. ALSO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND CODE READ IS P0420.
PROBLEM WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. THEY TELL ME NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT. ALSO I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH LOOSING OIL I DO NOT HAVE AN OIL LEAK. NO OIL NO WHERE. KIA SERVICE BEEN DOING A OIL TEST EVERY 2000 MILES THEY HAVE TO ADD OIL EVERY TIME. ONE DAY I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON I STOPPED TO CHECK MY OIL LEVEL THE ENGINE WAS DRY WITH NO OIL. I HAD 600 MILE BEFORE A OIL CHANGE.
WHILE DRIVING THIS PAST FRIDAY NIGHT, SUDDENLY MY CAR STARTED MAKING A LOUD INTERNAL ENGINE NOISE. PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY AND CHECKED OIL. FOUND OIL LEVEL UNEXPECTEDLY LOW SINCE OIL WAS CHANGED JUST A COUPLE MONTHS AGO AND I CHECK OIL LEVEL MONTHLY. ADDED 1 1/2 QUARTS OF OIL - CLACKING IMPROVED ONLY SLIGHTLY. RETURNED HOME IMMEDIATELY. HAD MECHANIC CHECK THE CAR FIRST THING MONDAY MORNING. WAS INFORMED THE CAR NEEDS A NEW MOTOR. MECHANIC SAID PARTS ARE TYPICALLY GUARANTEED FOR 6 MONTHS; BUT BECAUSE THERE IS LITTLE CONFIDENCE IN KIA MOTORS RIGHT NOW, HIS PARTS SUPPLIER WILL ONLY GUARANTEE IT FOR 30 DAYS. MECHANIC SAID HE HAS PERSONALLY WORKED ON KIAS FROM 2010 AND 2013 WITH THIS VERY SAME ISSUE. MY 2015 MODEL SHOULD ALSO BE UNDER THIS SAME RECALL.
OWNER OF 2015 KIA SOUL+ WITH 87K MILES.I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED WITH A LITTLE OVER 24K ON IT. I COMMUTE 90 MILES A DAY, HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING. WHILE DRIVING HOME ON 9/11/2020, LOUD TAPPING NOISES BEGAN FROM ENGINE WHEN I TURNED A CORNER. I PULLED INTO A AUTO ZONE TO CHECK OIL LEVELS. OIL WAS NOT SHOWING ON DIPSTICK AND NO LOW OIL LIGHT CAME ON IN CAR.NO LEAKS AND NO SMOKING. I PURCHASED 2 QUARTS OF OIL AND PUT THEM IN. THE NEXT DAY I I WAS SCHEDULED FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION. I TOOK IT TO MY REGULAR SERVICE PROVIDER; KIA IN LUMBERTON, NC. I ASKED THEM NUMEROUS QUESTIONS ABOUT WHERE THE OIL COULD BE GOING.THEY SAID IT COULD BE SLIPPING PAST THE SEALS. I HAVE ALWAYS GOTTEN OIL CHANGES EVERY 3-5K MILES. THEY HAVE STARTED A 1K OIL TEST. EVERY 1K FOR 5K, I HAVE TO TAKE IT BACK SO THAT THEY CAN CHECK THE OIL LEVEL. THE SERVICE TECH TOLD ME THAT I MAY BE LOOKING AT ENGINE REPLACEMENT WITH SOME KIND OF KIA FORGIVENESS PROGRAM, SINCE I AM NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND I STILL OWE ON THIS VEHICLE. I SHOULD NOT BE LOSING 2 QUARTS OF OIL FROM MY CAR EVERY 3-5K MILES! MY FORMER VEHICLE HAD OVER 200K MILES, AND I NEVER HAD TO ADD OIL. I HAVE READ THAT OTHER 2015 KIA OWNERS HAVE HAD THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A DEFINITE PROBLEM AND THERE NEEDS TO BE SOME KIND OF RECALL.
VEHICLE HAS 65,000 MILES ON IT, HAS BEEN SERVICE REGULARLY ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATIONS. NOTICED TICKING NOISE IN ENGINE JUST PRIOR TO MOST RECENT OIL CHANGE. REPAIR FACILITY NOTED THERE WAS LESS THAN 1 QUART OF OIL IN ENGINE. NO VISIBLE OIL LEAKS. NO OIL TEMP LIGHT INDICATOR. NO ENGINE HI TEMP INDICATED. ENGINE IS BURNING APPROX .75 QUARTS OF OIL PER 1000 MILES.
DRIVING STOPPED AT A LIGHT. CAR DIED AT LIGHT. TRIED TO START WOULD NOT START. PUSHED IT OUT OF THE INTERSECTION. SOMEONE STOPPED TO GIVE ME A JUMP. AFTER GETTING A JUMP A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE. SO I TURNED IT OFF AND HAD IT TOWED. AT THE TIME IT DIED IT WAS RUNNING FINE. NO NOISES NO LIGHTS, NO INDICATION FOR WHY THIS OCCURED. TOWED IT TO KIA AND A WEEK LATER THEY SAID IT NEEDED AND ENGINE. AFTER LOOKS NG INTO IT WE FOUND OUT 2015 KIA SOULS HAD RECALLS FOR THE SAME TYPE OF ISSUE. WE WERE TOLD OUR VIN WASN'T COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. BUT IT DISPLAYS THE SAME ISSUES FOR RECALL. THE CAR HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES?
RECENTLY HAD MY OIL CHANGED 1K MILES AGO , STOPPED TO GET GAS AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JERKS AND NOW ALL I HEAR IS CLANKING FROM INSIDE THE ENGINE . I WAS AT A STOP LIGHT MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN . WHEN IT HAPPENED I TRIED TO ACCELERATE BUT IT WOULDN'T GO NOWHERE SO I START TURN THE VEHICLE OFF WAIT 5 TO 10 MINUTES TURNED IT BACK ON STILL NO EMERGENCY LIGHTS OR ANY LIGHTS AT ALL ' AND IT STARTS RIGHT UP AND WILL DRIVE BUT YOU CAN TELL A ROD THROWN INSIDE.ARE USE FULLY SYNTHETIC AND TAKE VERY WELL CARE OF MY WIFE'S CAR
CAR WHILE BE DELAYED IN SHIFTING GEARS AND THEN ALL THE SUDDEN ACCELERATE TOO FAST AND JERKS THE CAR, OIL KEEPS RUNNING REALLY LOW AFTER PUTTING OIL IN BUT NO VISIBLE LEAKS. ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON READING CODE IS P0420 STATING PROBLEMS WITH CATALYTIC CONVERTER. RECALLS ARE IN PLACE FOR THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL FOR CATALYTIC CONVERTER BUT MY VIN NUMBER ISN'T SHOWING UP EVEN THOUGH I'M HAVING THE EXACT PROBLEMS AS DESCRIBED IN RECALL!!*DT*JB
WHEN AT COMPLETE STOP IDLING IS VERY ROUGH AND ENGINE WILL CUT OFF. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A COMPLETE STOP SHIFTING IS VERY DELAYED AND HARD, ONCE GEAR SHIFTS THEN IT ACCELERATES TOO FAST AT ONCE. WHEN MAKES A LEFT TURN FROM STOP LIGHT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CODE WAS P0420 ABOUT CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
I BOUGHT A KIA SOUL ABOUT 4 MONTHS AGO FROM PRIVATE DEALER, I SPENT OVER 1200 DOLLARS ON FIXING IT SO FOR. BUT I WENT IN FOR A OIL CHANGE AND TO SEE WHAT THIS LOUD NOISE WAS AND THE MECHANIC STOP WITH THE OIL CHANGE BECAUSE HE SPOTTED METAL IN THE OIL AND TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE KIA DEALER. AS SOON AS I TURN IN THE DEALERSHIP THE CAR STOPS. THEY TELL ME THE MOTORS GONE AND THAT THEY CANT COVER IT.EVEN THOUGH 2015 1.6L ENGINE IS DOING THE SAME THING.
AS OF LAST YEAR, MY CAR STARTED EATING UP ABOUT 5QT OF OIL IN A MONTH. I TOOK IT IN TO SEVERAL REPLICABLE SERVICE CENTERS, AND NO ONE EVER FOUND THE ISSUES AS TO WHY MY CAR WAS ENGULFING SO MUCH OIL. FINALLY, THE END OF JULY 2020, MY CAR STARTED TO NOT ACCELERATE. I TOOK IT INTO A KIA SERVICE CENTER THIS TIME AND THEY EXPLAINED TO ME THAT MY CAR CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS CLOGGED, AND I NEEDED TO REPLACE IT. AT THIS TIME, IS WHEN I FOUND OUT THAT MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. NOW REMEMBER I'M THINKING I HAVE 100.000-MILE WARRANTY AND WAS ONLY AT 84,000-MILES. THIS IS WHEN I FIRST FOUND OUT I WAS LIED TO. AS I'M SURE YOU KNOW, I IMMEDIATELY CALLED THE CAR LOT, THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. I THEN CALLED KIA, AND THEY GAVE ME A GOOD WILL REPAIR FOR THE CONVERTER. I MYSELF STILL HAD TO COME OUT ANOTHER $700 DOLLARS AT THE TIME. NOW HERE IS WHERE IT ALL GETS COMPLICATED. NOT EVEN TWO WEEKS AFTER I RECEIVED MY CAR BACK, THE ENGINE GETS A HOLE IN IT. YES, THE ENGINE GOES OUT. NOW HERE IS WHERE I'M TRYING TO GET ASSISTANCE AT. I DO EXTENSIVE RESEARCH, (I WILL ADD LINKS BELOW) I FIRST FOUND THE RECALL ISSUES ON MY CAR. THIS WHY KIA PAID FOR THE CONVERTER BECAUSE I FOUND IT THERE WAS A RECALL ON IT. BUT THE ISSUES THAT CAUSED THE CONVERTER TO GO OUT IN THE FIRST PLACE WAS NEVER, EITHER 1. DETECTED OR 2. LOOKED OVER, BECAUSE NOT EVEN TWO WEEKS LATER MY CAR, AS I'M DRIVING STARTS MAKING NOISES, SMOKED, BLEW OUT A VERY LOUD NOISE AND STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THIS TIME THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THE CRANK SHAFT IN THE ENGINE WAS DRY, NO OIL WHICH CAUSED IT TO SEIZE UP THEN CAUSE IT TO FORCIBLE MOVE, WHICH CREATED THE HOLE IN THE ENGINE. NOW GOING BACK TO WHEN I FIRST STARTED, I WAS PUTTING 5 QTRS. OF OIL A MONTH. MY CAR WAS NEVER FIXED OR DIAGNOSED CORRECTLY, I.E. LEAVING TO THIS CURRENT ISSUE. WHICH IS NOW OVER $6,000 MORE TO FIX.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD FLICKER ON AND OFF, WHILE DRIVING OR STOPPED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED YET. THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THERE ARE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE HESITATED WHILE ACCELERATING WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE HAD TAKEN HER VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY DISCOVERED NO OIL IN THE VEHICLE DESPITE RECEIVING AN OIL CHANGE LESS THAN A MONTH PRIOR. THE CONTACT HAD HER OIL REPLENISHED THAT SAME DAY BY THE MECHANIC. ONE DAY UPON ENTERING HER VEHICLE, THE ENGINE FAILED TO START UP AFTER MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO STEVE SCHMITT KIA (11655 NEW HALLS FERRY ROAD, FLORISSANT, MO 63033) WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS DEFECTIVE AND THAT HER ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) WHICH SHE LINKED TO HER FAILURE HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,760.
VEHICLE OUT OF NOWHERE WHILE DRIVING ON EXPRESSWAY STARTED TO DECELERATE I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER SAFELY AND NOTICED THE LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD WERE ILLUMINATED CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ENGINE OIL LIGHT. I TOOK VEHICLE TO HAVOLINE OIL EXPRESS AND THEY CHECKED MY CODES CHANGED SPARK PLUGS AND IGNITION COILS BUT CAR STILL SPUTTERS AND POWER IS LOW LIGHTS ARE DIM I HAVE IT NOW AT A KIA DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I BELIEVE IT TO BE THE ENGINE OR SOMETHING IN THE POWERTRAIN. NOTHING LIKE THIS HAS EVER HAPPENED TO THE VEHICLE SINCE I'VE PURCHASED IT.
ENGINE ABRUPTLY FAILED ON FREEWAY AND IS NO LONGER OPERATING. I WAS OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH AS I EXITED THE FREEWAY. IMMEDIATELY THE ENGINE BEGAN MAKING KNOCKING NOISES AND JERKED. I PULLED OVER AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED FROM DIRECTLY OFF THE FREEWAY. THIS WAS A WELL MAINTAINED AND OPERATED VEHICLE WITH SERVICE RECORDS TO PROVE IT.
1. I EXPERIENCED THIS TWICE NOW. DRIVING DOWN AN ALLY THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF ON ME. THE SECOND TIME I WAS PARKED RAN INTO MY HOUSE CAME OUT AND IT WAS OFF. LUCKILY I WASN'T ON THE HIGHWAY AT THE TIME OF THIS HAPPENING. ALSO IN SOMEHOW LOCK MY KEYS IN THE VEHICLE WHEN I CAME OUT TO GRAB SOMETHING FROM THE TRUNK . 2. YOU'D THINK A 2015 VEHICLE WOULDN'T LET YOU DO THAT ESPECIALLY WITH THE KEYLESS ENTRY. 3. ALSO I'M NOTICING A VIBRATION IN THE IDLE WHEN SITTING PARKED WITH THE ENGINE ON. 4. WHILE IN CRUISE CONTROL I NOTICED THAT THE CAR DOES NOT STAY AT A CONSISTENT SPEED ESPECIALLY GOING UP AND DOWN HILLS. THE VEHICLE LOSES SPEED WITHIN A 10 TO 20 MILE PER HOUR RANGE.
I GOT A RECALL NOTICE LETTER FROM KIA REGARDING MY KIA SOUL. I TOOK IT IN AND THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPAIRED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. STARTING IN AUGUST 2020, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER WHO SUPPOSEDLY FIXED IT AND THEY SAID IT WAS INDEED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THEY PUT IN A REQUEST TO HAVE IT FIXED ONLY FOR CORPORATE TO DECLINE SAYING IT WAS NO LONGER IN WARRANTY AND HAS IT ESCALATED TO THE HIGHER UPS OF CORPORATE. I SPOKE TO MELISSA ON SEPTEMBER 21, 2020 AROUND 3:45-4:00 P.M. EASTERN TIME FOR HER TO TELL ME THEY HAD ALREADY REPAIRED ONCE AT GOOD WILL AT THE DEALER AND A SECOND TIME WILL BE DECLINED. HOWEVER, I EXPLAINED A CATALYTIC CONVERTER SHOULD BE GOOD FOR UP TO 10 YEARS AND THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAD A RECALL THAT AGAIN FAILED. UPON READING ABOUT THE RECALL, I KNOW IT CAN CAUSE A FIRE IF NOT REPAIRED. I DO NOT BELIEVE THEY FIXED THE RECALL/OR THAT THE RECALL PART WAS A DEFECTIVE ONE. PLEASE HELP ME WITH GETTING KIA TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. THE DATE BELOW IS AN APPROXIMATE DATE.
SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE WITHOUT ANY WARNING LIGHTS COMING ON. NO SLOW DOWN OR APPARENT PROBLEMS. SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC IN PITTSBURGH AREA CAUSING A TRAFFIC HAZARD. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A STREET. FOUND OUT THIS IS THE NUMBER ONE REPORTED PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. ALSO ISSUES WITH THE KIA SORENTO ENGINE. SAME PROBLEM? RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR SORENTO. I FEEL THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY KIA. THIS IS A ROAD HAZARD WHEN VEHICLE STOPS IN MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC WITH NO WARNING.
HEADLIGHTS STARTED FLASHING ON AND OFF IN A 3 FLASH AMBER LIGHT SEQUENCE. DASH LIGHTS WERE ON. KEYLESS ENTRY WOULD NOT WORK. MANUAL KEY ENTRY REQUIRED. CAR WOULD NOT START AND LIGHT MALFUNCTION CONTINUED UNTIL ALL SYSTEMS ARE DEAD. PLANNING TO TAKE TO MECHANIC TODAY IF JUMPING BATTERY WILL START CAR. CAR WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY WHEN NEIGHBOR BROUGHT MY ATTENTION TO THE LIGHTS.
CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT BROKE CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE
THE ENGINE OF MY 2015 KIA SOUL HAS BEEN DAMAGED BECAUSE OF THE "PISTON ROD BRAKE" WHICH HAS ALSO "PUNCTURED THE ENGINE BLOCK" AND AS I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN OIL LICKED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I STOPPED QUICKLY AND PUT OIL. BUT THE OIL LICKED OUT AGAIN. I WAS FORTUNATE THAT THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESULT TO FIRE. HOWEVER, I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MY NEAREST KIA DEALER AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO REPLACE FIX THE ENGINE AS DIRECTED BY THE RECALL REQUIRMENTS. PLEASE HELP.
IN OCTOBER OF 2019,I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH MY 2015 KIA SOUL ACCELERATING. IT WOULD BOG DOWN AND I HAD TROUBLE GETTING IT TO SHIFT INTO OVERDRIVE. I TOOK IT INTO THE KIA DEALERSHIP IN IDAHO FALLS` AND THEY SAID THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS PLUGGED, WARPED AND VERY HOT. THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO REPLACE THE PART BUT THERE WERE NO CATALYTIC CONVERTERS TO BE FOUND IN THE UNITED STATES. APPARENTLY, DUE TO A RECALL EVERYONE WAS HAVING THEIR CARS FIXED. THE DEALER FOUND ONE IN SEATTLE THAT I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE SHIPPED. THE TOTAL REPAIR, INCLUDING SHIPPING, WAS CLOSE TO $2000.00. THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED IN DECEMBER 2019. THEN IN JUNE 2020, ON A TRIP TO SALT LAKE, MY CAR STARTED BLOGGING DOWN AGAIN. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD SOMEONE LOOK AT THE CODE AND THEY SAID THE ENGINE WAS 'MISFIRING'. A SHORT TIME LATER, MY CAR BOGGED DOWN ON THE WAY HOME AND I COULD NOT GO MORE THAN 40 MPH ON THE FREEWAY. I HAD TO DRIVE 35 MILES WITH MY HAZARDS ON. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL DEALER AND HE DIAGNOSED IT AS A BAD CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER JUST SIX MONTHS AGO. NOW THEY SAY MY ENGINE IS DAMAGED AND I HAVE TO REBUILD THE ENGINE OR GET A NEW CAR. IT SEEMS SUSPICIOUS THAT I AM EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES COVERED BY THE RECALL ON ALL 2015 KIA SOUL BASE MODELS BUT MY PLUS MODEL IS NOT COVERED. 'NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 19V120000 REPORT DATE: FEB 21, 2019 CONSEQUENCE: PISTON DAMAGE MAY RESULT IN AN ENGINE STALL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH. A BROKEN CONNECTING ROD MAY PUNCTURE THE ENGINE BLOCK ALLOWING ENGINE OIL TO ESCAPE. THE LEAKING OIL MAY CONTACT THE EXHAUST, INCREASING THE RISK OF A FIRE.' I BELIEVE MY CAR HAS THE SAME CATALYTIC OVERHEATING PROTECTION ENGINE CONTROL UNIT LOGIC IS ALSO FAULTY AND NEEDS TO BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL WHICH INCLUDES GETTING A NEW ENGINE.
IIN AUGUST WHILE DRIVING, MY OIL LIGHT FLASHED BRIEFLY AND THEN WENT OUT. WHEN I PULLED INTO MY DRIVEWAY I CHECKED MY OIL AND THERE WAS BARELY ANY OIL IN THE CAR. BASED ON MY MILLAGE I WAS NOT YET DO FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND HAD NOT SEEN ANY INDICATION THAT I WAS LEAKING OIL ( NOT SPOTS IN DRIVEWAY) I ADDED OIL AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO DID AN OIL CHANGE AND BEGAN OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS. ENGINE IS MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE CONSTANTLY AND RATTLING NOISE WHEN DECELERATING.OIL IS NOT LEAKING ON GROUND BUT CAR IS CONSISTENTLY LOSING OIL. IDLES ROUGH. I HAVE ALREADY COMPLETED 3 OIL CONSUMPTION TESTS WITH KIA DEALER WHO STATED THAT THERE IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 3RD CYLINDER ROD BEARING IN THESE ENGINES, JUST WAITING FOR MY DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT.
KIA SOUL+ 2015 - ENGINE OIL DISAPPEARS AFTER DRIVING 1500 MILES WITH NO VISIBLE GROUND LEAKS OR BLUE EXHAUST. 2ND TIME IT HAPPEND THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED AS THE PISTON WAS DESTROYED DUE TO NO OIL. LOW OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON AND UVO SELF DIAGNOSTICS NEVER WARNED OF A PROBLEM. GOOD THING IT DIDN'T HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
THE CAR HAD AN ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE AND CONVERTER ...THEY FIXED THE CONVERTER AND NEVER FIXED THE ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE THAT CAUSED THE CONVERTER TO BECOME CLOG ....WHEN I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER SERVICE CENTER I TOLD THEM WHAT THE ISSUES WAS AND THEY NEVER LOOKED INTO THE ENGINE, TWO WEEKS AFTER I GOT MY CAR BACK THE ENGINE NOW HAS A HOLE IN THE BLOCK BECAUSE THE NEVER FIXED THE ISSUES THAT CAUSED THE CONVERTER TO BE BLOCKED ...THIS IS RIDICULOUS, AND I DONT HAVE ALL THIS MONEY THEY WANT TO FIX A CAR THAT WAS BROKEN FROM THE BEGINNING AND THE ISSUES STARTED WAY BEFORE MY WARRANTY ENDED!!
MY VEHICLE WITH 59,000 MILES DEVELOPED A KNOCKING SOUND IN ENGINE. TOOK TO KIA DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID MY CAR HAS BEARING FAILURE BUT MY CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO TIME, NOT MILEAGE. I FOUND WHERE KIA RECALLED 695,000 (2015) KIA SOULS WITH THE 2.0 LITER MOTOR (SAME AS MINE) FOR A DESIGN FLAW THAT CAUSES BEARING FAILURE. THEY TOLD ME SORRY I'M OUT OF LUCK. THEY WANT TO CHARGE ME $10,000 FOR A NEW ENGINE.
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WORKS INTERMITTENTLY, IF YOU TWIST WIRES A CERTAIN WAY, THE HEADLIGHT TURNS ON. SUSPECT THE CONNECTOR OVERHEATED AND MELTED PREVENTING IT FROM MAKING A SOLID CONNECTION TO BULB.
WHEN USING CRUISE CONTROL, CAR WILL RANDOMLY SPEED UP OR SLOW DOWN AND GET VERY LOUD AND ALSO JERK FORWARD. IT WILL ALSO OCCASIONALLY JERK FORWARD OR BACKWARDS WHILE DRIVING NORMALLY.
THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKER OFF OR TURN OFF WHILE STOPPED OR DRIVING. WIGGLING THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH WILL USUALLY BRING THE LIGHTS BACK ON TEMPORARILY. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE CONTACTS IN THE MULTIFUNCTION SWITCH. KIA HAS ISSUED A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR THIS ISSUE FOR MY2014 AND PRIOR, BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR MY2015 EVEN THOUGH THIS IS THE SAME ISSUE.
I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE UP TO BENSON KIA TO GET RECALLS REPAIRED ON MY 2015 KIA SOUL. THERE WERE ISSUES WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER DUE TO A RECALL AND I WAS INFORMED BY THE SERVICING STATION AT BENSON KIA THAT THE ISSUE WAS RESOLVED. THERE IS A RATTLING NOISE THAT IS COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. BEFORE I DROVE MY VEHICLE OFF THE LOT THE RATTING NOISE WAS STILL PRESENT. I ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT THE VEHICLE BEFORE I DROVE OFF THE LOT. THE MECHANIC BRENT LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE AND TOLD ME THAT IT IS THE RESONATOR MAKING THE NOISE AND IT IS FROM A BUILD UP OF GAS FUMES FROM THE EXHAUST. I WAS THEN INFORMED THAT THE RESISTOR FALLS OUT OF WARRANTY. PRIOR TO GETTING THE RECALLS REPAIRED I NEVER HEARD THE NOISE. THE DEALERSHIP IS NOT WANTING TO FIX THE ISSUE THAT WAS CAUSED BY THEM CHANGING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND TOLD ME THAT THEY NO LONGER HELP ME AS THEIR ME CHI SONICS HAVE DONE ALL THAT THEY COULD AND THEY REFUSED SERVICE ON MY VEHICLE. THEY THEN PROCEEDED TO INFORM ME TO GO TO A DIFFERENT KIA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM LOOK AT THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP IS APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES AWAY FROM ME AND I AM UNABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP
MY ENGINE FAILED AND NEEDS REPLACING BUT THEIR RECALL DOESN'T SPECIFICALLY INCLUDE MY MODEL. EVEN THOUGH THE SAME ENGINE WITH A TURBO WAS INCLUDED ( MINE DOES NOT HAVE A TURBO) AND THE SMALLER NON TURBO WAS INCLUDED! I DON'T SEEM TO HAVE A VOICE IN THIS! I BELIEVE IT SHOULD DEFINITELY BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL! I STILL OWE MONEY ON THIS CAR WITCH WILL COST MORE TO FIX THAN IT IS WORTH! THEY EVEN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE OTHER MODELS BUT NOT MINE!
When driving this Vehicle my daughter was in a single car acciedent. The engine combusted. The piston rod went into engine. When we took it to the auto shop this is what they told us casued the engine to malfunction and my daughter run off the road. She is very luck she has not been hurt more than she has. We have tried to contact KIA. First we called Royal KIa in Tuscon then Jim Clickk Kia in Tucson. They told me it did not matter that the vehicke had a recalll. We would be financially responsable for fixing it. They would not even alow me to bring it in, THey asked us to csll Kia. Kia was no help. They said that if the car was over 150,000 miles they would not fix a recall. My daughter was in an acciedent due to malfuntion! At this point I did reach out to another dealership in Mesa AZ. If they can not help we need to take legal action. The exact same thing that the engine had a recall on is what happemed to our kia, No one will anwser or fix a recall.
WE HAD THE OIL CHANGED BEFORE A TRIP OUT OF TOWN. CONFIRMED OIL WAS FULL, DROVE OUT OF TOWN, ONCE BACK HOME THE CAR STARTED MAKING A NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. NO WARNING LIGHT AT ALL. HAD CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP, THEY NOW TELL ME THAT IT SPUN A BEARING AND THE WHOLE ENGINE NEEDS REPLACING. WE BOUGHT THIS CAR AS A CERTIFIED PER-OWNED AND IT SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. NOW THEY WANT TO SEE ALL OF MY RECEIPTS FOR OIL CHANGES FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS. I HAVE SOME BUT NOT ALL AND I AM GETTING THE FEELING THAT THEY DON'T WANT TO FIX MY CAR. KIA, YOU KNOW THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM, YOU CAN SEE HOW MANY FOLKS ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, DO THE RIGHT THINK AND FIX ALL OF THESE CARS!!!

I WAS AT A RED LIGHT, THE ENGINE STALLED, OR CUT OUT VERY LOW ALMOST CUTTING OFF, BUT CAUGHT UP AND PROCEEDED. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME IN LESS THAN A YEAR THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED.. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING ON 75 WHEN IT SPUTTERED TWICE BUT THEN PROCEEDED...
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITH THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESTART AND WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S OFFICE. THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
I LIVE IN THE BAY AREA AND I WAS DRIVING BACK FROM OAKLAND TO VALLEJO, CA WHEN THE ISSUE OCCURRED. I ACCELERATED TO GET OVER WHEN I NOTICED MY CAR'S ENGINE SOUNDED LIKE THERE WAS A KNOCK SOUND GOING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. I PULLED OVER TO A SAFE LOCATION AND INSPECTED UNDER THE HOOD. I CHECKED MY OIL STICK WHICH TO MY SURPRISE WAS COMPLETELY DRY. MY OIL LIGHT WAS NOT ACTIVATED, TO ALERT THE THAT MY OIL WAS LOW IN MY VEHICLE. I WENT INTO THE TARGET I PULLED INTO AND PURCHASED TWO QUARTS OF OIL AND LET MY CAR ABSORB IT FOR A FEW MINUTES. THIS TIME THE KNOCKING NOISE IS LOUDER. I DRIVE A FEW MINUTES ON THE STREETS TESTING MY CAR BEFORE TESTING THE FREEWAY. TWO MINUTES INTO DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, OIL AND BATTERY LIGHTS ALL TURNED ON AT THE SAME TIME AS MY CAR BEGAN TO SLOW ITSELF DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY MAKE IT TO THE SHOULDER. I WAITED 2 1/2 HOURS TO GET TOWED BACK HOME. MY CARE WAS TOWED TO THE CLOSET KIA DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY, AND THEY SAID, "ITS THE ENGINE". WITH THAT SAID, I HAVE SEEN THE RECALLS WHICH THIS QUALIFIES FOR. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE MEETS THE CRITERIA FOR THIS PARTICULAR RECALL.
WE PURCHASED THE 2015 KIA SOUL WITH THE 2.0 L ENGINE FOR OUR DAUGHTER. THE CAR WAS USED WHEN WE BOUGHT IT AND HAD 33,748 MILES. MY DAUGHTER HAD DRIVEN IT TO A SHOPPING AREA AND PARKED. WHEN SHE GOT BACK IN AND STARTED IT TO DRIVE HOME THE ENGINE WAS MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND AND DID NOT WANT TO ACCELERATE AT THE NORMAL RATE. SHE WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME AND WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE LOCAL KIA DEALER. THE FINDING WAS THAT THE CONNECTOR ROD BEARING HAD HEATED UP AND WAS CAUSING THE KNOCKING DUE TO LACK OF LUBRICATION. WE HAD TWO OIL CHANGES COMPLETED ON THIS VEHICLE AND A THIRD OIL CHANGE WAS SCHEDULED TO HAPPEN A COUPLE DAYS AFTER THE ENGINE ISSUE OCCURRED. THE CAR WAS ONLY AT 49,554 MILES WHEN THE ENGINE ISSUE HAPPENED. OUR OIL CHANGES WERE WITH THE SYNTHETIC BLEND OIL AT A KIA DEALER. THE KIA DEALER IS NOW SAYING THAT THE ENGINE WILL LIKELY NEED REPLACED AND OF COURSE IT IS NOW OUT OF THE ORIGINAL WARRANTY AND WE ARE WAITING FOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY ADJUSTER TO LOOK AT IT AND MAKE A DETERMINATION. IN READING OTHER POSTS, AN INITIAL RECALL FOR THE 1.6 L ENGINE WAS ISSUED, HOWEVER THE SAME TYPE OF ENGINE FAILURE SEEMS TO ALSO BE OCCURRING IN THE 2.0 L ENGINES AS DESCRIBED IN THE MANY POSTS THAT ARE LISTED. THOSE POSTS DESCRIBE THE SAME ISSUE THAT WE ENCOUNTERED (SUDDEN KNOCKING NOISE/ENGINE NEEDING REPLACED, CONNECTOR ROD/BEARING ISSUE). IT ALSO APPEARS THAT KIA AND/OR THE THIRD PARTY INSURANCE PROVIDERS ARE NOT WILLING TO RECTIFY OR STAND BEHIND THE REPAIRS OF THESE EVEN AS SIMILAR ISSUES EXIST WITHIN THE RECALL OF THE 1.6 L ENGINE MODELS. LUCKILY THERE WAS NO FIRE OR INJURY AS HAS BEEN SEEN IN SOME OF THE OTHER BREAKDOWNS. HOW LONG BEFORE THE 2.0 L ENGINE IS ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST OR DOES IT REQUIRE BODILY INJURY BEFORE THIS IS ESCALATED AND THE MANUFACTURER TAKES OWNERSHIP OF THIS?

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THIS MORNING. AUTO PARTS STORE RAN THE CODE, WE WERE INFORMED IT WAS JUST THE GAS CAP. TIGHTENED THE GAS CAP, AND THEY RESET THE CODE. ABOUT 3 HOURS LATER THE OIL LIGHT STARTED FLASHING, WE PROMPTLY ADDED MORE OIL. SEVERAL HOURS LATER WE WERE GOING TO LUNCH AND THE ENGINE IS KNOCKING VERY LOUDLY. VEHICLE IS NOT RUNNING PROPERLY, AND WE WERE TOLD IT SOUNDS LIKE A ROD OR BEARING.
IN 2017 WHILE GOING STRAIGHT ON HIGHWAY UPHILL, MY VEHICLE SUDDENLY STARTED LOUD PINGING AND LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING, NO WARNING LIGHTS. I PULLED OVER AND STOPPED, KIA TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. SAID NO OIL IN ENGINE AND ENGINE FAILED. THIS WAS SERVICED BY SAME DEALERSHIP 2 WEEKS PRIOR. KIA REPLACED THAT ENGINE. 2019 CAR IN BEING SERVICED AND AFTER I WAS TOLD SAME SEAL IS BAD AGAIN AND WAS REPLACED. 2020 CAR IN BEING SERVICED AND WAS TOLD SAME SEAL WAS BAD A THIRD TIME. AFRAID TO DRIVE CAR WHEN NOT LUBRICATED DUE TO FIRE ISSUE WITH SOULS.

DEALER PERFORMED TRANSMISSION SERVICE AT 106,768 MILES ON JUNE 30, 2020, AND THIS DID NOT CLEAR THE ISSUES, 2ND SERVICE INSPECTRION ON JULY 1, 2020 RESULTED IN SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAYING THE ISSUES ARE WITH A PLUGGED CATALYTIC CONVERTER, WHICH HAS BEEN A POTENTIAL CONTRIBUTOR TO THE ONGOING NHTSA INVESTIGATION OF ALL KIA SOUL MODELS WITH THE 2.0L NU ENGINE. WE ALSO NOTED EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, BUT THEY HAVE DECLINED STARTING AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR EXTENDED WARRANTY COMPANY WILL COVER REPAIRS, AND ALLOWED US TO LEAVE THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE VEHICLE IN POTENTIALLY UNSAFE CONDITION, WITH NO REMEDY OTHER THAN US PAYING FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I WANT TO HAVE MY COMPLAINT ADDED TO THE ONGOING INVESTIGATION, AND CAN PROVIDE AND ENCOURAGE OTHER KIA SOUL OWNERS TO ALSO ADD THEIR SIMILAR ISSUES,M WHICH ARE WELL DOCUMENTED ON LINE IN FORUMS AND SOCIAL MEDIA.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE BEFORE THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ABELOFF KIA 1169 N 9TH ST, STROUDSBURG, PA 18360, (877) 816-7612, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
ENGINE WARNING LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON CAUSED BY ENGINE CODE P050A TOLD BY AUTO SHOP WHERE PURCHASED AND KIA MOTORS THAT THERE IS NO FIX AT THIS TIME VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO SHOP MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THIS ISSUE PROBLEM STARTED AT APPROX. 32000 MILES CURRENT MILES 33067 DEALER SAID OK TO DRIVE BUT WONT PUT IN WRITING BESIDES ALLINFO I COULD OBTAIN SAID THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE TREATED AS SERIOUS.ONGOING PROBLEM FOR 6 MOS NOW .KIA REP INFORMED ME KIA HAS BEEN AWARE OF PROBLEM SINCE APRIL 2019 AS OF YET NOFIX WHICH LEAVES ME WITH AN UNFIXABLE AND UNDRIVABLE VEHICLE.NOT A HAPPY CAMPER OLDER VEHICLES APPEAR TO HAVE HAD SAME PROBLEM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED HOWEVER, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KIA STORE ELIZABETHTOWN LOCATED AT 1501 N DIXIE HWY ELIZABETHTOWN, KY 42701, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
