CAR WAS IN MOTION GOING DOWN STREET THEN ENGINE STOPPED FROZE SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING THROUGH MIDDLE OF INTERSECTION. TRIED TO RESTART CAR ONCE IT STARTED AGAIN ENGINE BEGAN A LOUD GRINDING NOISE LIKE PISTONS WERE READY TO EXPLODE. I DROVE HOME WITH THE ENGINE MAKE THE LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND STALLING CREATING UNSAFE DRIVING CONDITION. I SEE THAT THERE IS A 2015 KIA SOUL RECALL FOR GDI ENGINES BUT THE KIA HEADQUARTERS ARE SAYING THERE IS NO RECALL. THE CAR IS AT THE KIA SERVICE CENTER NOW AND THE FIRST THING THEY SAID IS THAT WE MAY NEED A NEW ENGINE. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE IN THIS CAR AND I AM AFRAID OF KNOWN KIA SOUL ENGINE DEFECTS COULD PUT MY LIFE IN DANGER WHILE DRIVING. *TR
CAR MAKE AND MODEL- KIA SOUL 1.6 2015 ON OR AROUND 07/05/2019, A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THE CAR DASHBOARD, I CALLED CHERRY HILL KIA IN NEW JERSEY AND WAS ASKED TO BRING THE CAR IN FOR AN SC176 ECU UPGRADE. IN LESS THAN A YEAR AFTER THE UPGRADE THE SAME CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND CHERRY HILL KIA DIAGNOSED P0420 CODE WHICH IS RELATED TO THE SAME ISSUE FROM LAST YEAR'S RECALL WITH NHTSA RECALL BULLETIN REFERENCE NUMBER-19V120000.
MY MOTOR ENGINE STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND AND START TO STOP MOVING TOOK IT NAPPA MECANICH AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT FIXABLE THE PART THAT IS THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN RECALLED. *TR
I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE CERTIFIED USED FROM ENTERPRISE RENT A CAR. A LITTLE OVER 30,000 MILES I BEGAN HAVING ENGINE OIL BURN ISSUES IN WHICH I WAS LOSING ENGINE OIL QUICKLY AND WITH NO DISCERNIBLE LEAKS AFTER BRINGING IT TO A MECHANIC. I HAVE LEARNED FROM RESEARCHING OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM MANY WITH THIS MODEL VEHICLE ARE EXPERIENCING AND THAT DEALERSHIPS ARE OFTEN TELLING CONSUMERS WHO VOICE THEIR CONCERN THAT THEY MUST NOT HAVE HANDLED MAINTENANCE CORRECTLY. I HAVE SINCE BEEN KEEPING OIL ON HAND TO REFILL MY OIL SOMEWHAT REGULARLY AND CHECKING THE OIL MORE FREQUENTLY AS THIS ISSUE APPARENTLY MAY CAUSE AN ENGINE TO SEIZE WITH LITTLE WARNING AND NO OIL WARNING LIGHT, AS MINE DOES NOT GO OFF WHEN IT OTHERWISE SHOULD WHEN I AM RIDICULOUSLY LOW. THE RATE OF BURN IS INCONSISTENT AND I JUST HAD ANOTHER SURPRISE TO THAT EFFECT AND I AM WORRIED THAT WHILE I STILL OWE MONEY ON THE VEHICLE I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO AFFORD REPLACING THE ENGINE MYSELF AND AM INTERESTED IN WHY THIS HASN'T RESULTED IN A MANUFACTURER RECALL? *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH ON A LOCAL HIGHWAY AND THE CAR SHUTTERED. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SHUDDER THERE WAS A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE ENGINE. I CALLED RENALDO KIA IN SHELBY NC AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR THERE. ABOUT TWO MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS ALERTED BY THE INTERNAL SYSTEM THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL FAULT IN THE ENGINE. THE CAR HAD LESS THAN 78K MILES. THE SERVICE CENTER REP SAID THAT 2015 KIA'S WERE CONSTANTLY IN HER SHOP AND THERE WAS IN FACT 2 IN FRONT OF MINE FOR THE EXACT SAME ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT BOTH OF THESE CARS HAD MILEAGE EXCEEDING 100K MILES BUT THAT THIS WAS NOT A UNIQUE ISSUE FOR THIS MAKE AND YEAR. MY CAR'S ENGINE IS CURRENTLY BEING TORN APART AND I DO NOT KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE FAILURE MODE WAS BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ITS MOST LIKELY GOING TO RESULT IN A REPLACED ENGINE. *TR
WHEN TURNING ON THE IGNITION NOTHING HAPPENS. THE DASH LIGHTS GO ON BUT THE CAR DOESN'T START. AFTER A FEW TRIES IT WILL START. SOMETIMES A SHORT HESITATION, OTHER TIMES IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL TRIES. I HAVE A NEW BATTERY.
DRIVING AT NIGHT WHEN SUDDENLY MY KIA SOULS HEADLAMPS IN LOW BEAMS STARTED FLICKERING ON AND OFF IN FRONT OF A POLICE CAR NO LESS. *TR
VEHICLE NEVER DISPLAYED A NEED TO CHECK OIL, DESPITE HAVING REGULAR OIL CHANGES AND BEING UNDER THE MILEAGE RECOMMENDED FOR NEXT OIL CHANGE. WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STOPPED WITH NO SMOKE OR OVERHEATING. MECHANICS THINK IT WAS DUE TO NO OIL.
ON JUNE 12TH OR 13TH CAN'T RECALL WHAT DAY AROUND 9 AM ON MOJAVE ROAD IN PARKER AZ, I WAS DRIVING BACK TO MY GRANDMOTHERS HOME ABOUT 2 MILES AWAY FROM MY FRIENDS HOUSE WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I STARTED HEARING A KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM UNDER MY HOOD. I MADE MY DAD CHECK WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM AND HE SAID FROM MY ENGINE. I HAVEN'T DROVE MY CAR SINCE BECAUSE I'M AFRAID I'LL MAKE MORE DAMAGE TO IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER AND JERKED WITH THE OIL PRESSURE AND BATTERY WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO OPERATE AS DESIGNED. KINGS KIA (9600 KINGS AUTO MALL RD, CINCINNATI, OH 45249, (888) 460-0461) WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED NOR MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) AND 17V608000 (STEERING) AT BENSON KIA OF SPARTANBURG (1100 N PINE ST, SPARTANBURG, SC 29303). UPON RETURN OF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL RATTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE ADDITIONAL WORK PERFORMED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RESISTER LOCATED UNDERNEATH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS THE CAUSE OF THE RATTLING NOISE. THE DEALER THEN INFORMED HER THAT THE RESISTER WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL AND OFFERED HER NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 116,000.
CAR BURNS OIL EXCESSIVELY. HAS STARTED MAKING BAD ENGINE NOISES. VISITED A KIA DEALERSHIP MECHANIC. WAS ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE REQUIRES REPLACEMENT DUE TO DAMAGE. NOISE IS WHEN IN MOTION. STANDARD DRIVING. *TR
CAR WAS AT 73,000 MILES AND I HAD ONLY HAD IT FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND DURING THIS TIME I HEARD A TICKING NOISE, RATTLING FROM THE ENGINE SO I GOT A OIL CHANGE. THE NOISE CONTINUED AND GOT LOUDER. ONE DAY ON THE FREEWAY THE NOISE GOT EXTREMELY LOUD THEN I HEARD A LOUD POP AND DIDN'T KNOW AT THE TIME BUT MY CAR BEGAN SMOKING AND SOMEONE THANKFULLY FLAGGED ME DOWN. I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO SEE ALL THE OIL COMPLETELY CAME OUT MY CAR WAS COMPLETE EMPTY OF OIL. MY ENGINE BLEW. I TOOK MY CAR TO A DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY JUST SENT A BILL $5000+ AND DIDN'T CHECK TO SEE THE REASON ON MY ENGINE BLOWING I BELIEVE IT'S PART OF THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH IT'S NOT SPECIFIC FOR MY VIN SINCE I LITERALLY JUST GOT THE VEHICLE IT'S ONLY 5 YEARS OLD THE ENGINE SHOULD NOT HAVE BLOWN UP LIKE THAT. I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED.

THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR HOWEVER THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER HOWEVER A DIAGNOSIS WAS NOT PERFORMED. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE TO REPLACE THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000. THE CONTACT REFERRED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. INVALID VIN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A JOGGER ALERTED HIM OF FLAMES COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE VEHICLE. NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOWING LOT AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
I WAS DRIVING WHEN A PUFF OF SMOKE CAME FROM MY ENGINE. MY CAR BEGAN TO STALL AND I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND WAS ABOUT TO MAKE A PHONE CALL TO MY WIFE WHEN TWO JOGGERS NEARBY YELLED THAT MY CAR WAS ON FIRE. I LEFT THE VEHICLE AND RAN ACROSS THE STREET. THE TOW JOGGERS HAD CALLED 911. THEY TOLD ME THAT MY CAR FIRE WAS STARTED UNDERNEATH MY VEHICLE. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2015 KIA SOUL USED IN JUNE 2017. WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT IN LOW TRAFFIC TO WORK ON A FREEWAY IN MAY 2020, I FELT MY KIA SOUL BEGIN TO BOG DOWN, THEN THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. NEXT, I HEARD A KNOCKING SOUND. I STOPPED AND CHECKED THE OIL AND SAW IT WAS LOW, DESPITE A FULL OIL CHANGE IN MARCH 2020. I FILLED IT WITH OIL AND I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO MY MECHANIC THE NEXT DAY. AT THE MECHANICS, I WAS TOLD HE WAS ONLY ABLE TO FIND LESS THAN 1 QUART OF OIL DESPITE ME ADDING 3 QUARTS. HE SAID THE ENGINE WAS DAMAGED AND WOULD NEED TO BE FULLY REPLACED.
HAD BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR ABOUT 90 MINUTES/90 MILES WHEN WE WERE COMING TO THE SUMMIT OF STEVENS PASS ON HWY 20 EAST-BOUND. THE CAR SUDDENLY STARTED RUNNING ROUGH SO WE PULLED TO THE SHOULDER JUST IN TIME FOR THE ENGINE TO STALL AND ALL DASH LIGHTS TO COME ON. TRIED TO RESTART THE ENGINE WHEN A PUFF OF SMOKE ERUPTED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND A BYSTANDER ALERTED US TO VISIBLE FLAMES. THANKFULLY, A PASSER BY HAD AN EXTINGUISHER AND WAS ABLE TO PUT OUT THE FIRE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY AT FULL SPEED (65 MPH) WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN MY 2015 KIA SOUL + STALLED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO FLASH AND THEN SMOKE STARTED POURING OUT.... I LOST ALL POWER BUT MADE IT TO THE BREAK DOWN LANE AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. THE CAR STARTED TO FILL UP WITH SMOKE AND I SAW FLAMES COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD SO I TRIED TO GET AS MUCH STUFF OUT OF MY CAR AS I COULD BEFORE THE FLAMES GOT TOO BIG AND BEFORE I KNEW IT THE WHOLE CAR WAS FULLY ENGULFED BY FIRE. *TR
ON MAY 11, 2018, WE PURCHASED A USED 2015 KIA SOUL FOR USE BY OUR DAUGHTER, WHO WAS IN COLLEGE IN AT THE TIME. IT CAME WITH A MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY, WHICH WE WERE ADVISED EXPIRED ON APRIL 27, 2020. WE PURCHASED AN ADDITIONAL EXTENDED CNA NATIONAL WARRANTY CORP. WARRANTY FROM THE DEALER, CARMAX. THE CAR HAS BEEN REGULARLY MAINTAINED, AND HAS BEEN SERVICED FOR ALL RECALL ITEMS THAT WE HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED OF BY KIA. ON MARCH 1, 2020, OUR DAUGHTER MOVED TO SAN FRANCISCO, AND HOUSED THE VEHICLE AT OUR HOME IN PETALUMA, CA. DUE TO BEING SHELTERED IN PLACE DURING THE PANDEMIC, THE CAR SAT IDLE AND WAS NOT USED AGAIN UNTIL SHE RETRIEVED IT IN MAY. ON MAY 10, 2020, ON HER WAY BACK FROM PETALUMA TO SF, WHILE TRAVELING SOUTH ON HIGHWAY 101 A 'CHECK ENGINE' LIGHT WENT ON AND SHE BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE A LOSS OF POWER IN THE VEHICLE. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 40 MPH, AND SO SHE EXITED THE HIGHWAY AND CALLED AAA. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO OUR LOCAL AUTO REPAIR SHOP IN PETALUMA. THE COST OF THE TOW WAS $276. WHICH WAS NOT COVERED BY EITHER AAA OR THE WARRANTY. AN INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, PERFORMED BY OUR MECHANIC ALONG WITH THE WARRANTY INSPECTOR, DISCLOSED THAT 3 OF 4 OF THE CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS HAD BROKEN AND THE CAR WAS NO LONGER OPERABLE. DUE TO RESULTING DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE, THE ENTIRE ENGINE ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REMOVED AND REPLACED. WE RECEIVED A REBUILT ENGINE PER THE TERMS OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY, NOT A NEW ENGINE. THE CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR OVER A MONTH WHILE THE INSPECTION, WHICH NEEDED TO BE PERFORMED WITH THE WARRANTY INSPECTOR PRESENT, COULD BE ARRANGED AND A REPLACEMENT ENGINE COULD BE FOUND. *TR
I HAD AN OIL CHANGE DONE MARCH 8,2020. MAY 9TH,2020 I HEAR A TICKING. I CHECKED MY OIL,THERE WAS NONE. I HAVE NO OIL LEAKS., I ADDED OIL,DROVE ABOUT A MILE,THE TICKING GOT LOUDER AND THEN MY ENGINE SHUT OFF. I HAD IT TOWED HOME. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THERE'S NO OIL AND NO LEAKS. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 30 MPH WHEN IT STALLED. NO SMOKE,NOTHING. MY INDICATORS FOR LOW OIL OR CHECK ENGINE NEVER CAME ON. THEY STILL AREN'T ON. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE CONSUMED AND EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF ENGINE OIL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS NOTIFIED OF A FAILURE ON CYLINDER NUMBER 3. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,600.
THIS USED CAR WAS SOLD TO ME WITH UNFIXED RECALL. RECALL WAS NOT DISCLOSED AT TIME OF PURCHASE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN CHUCKANUT DRIVE. WINDY ROAD, I CAME TO A CORNER GOING 15 MPH THEN IT FELT LIKE THE ENGINE TURNED OFF. SO I PULLLED OVER TO SEE. WHEN I STOPPED THE ENGINE WAS STILL ON SO I PUT IT IN PARK TURNED THE CAR OFF AND OPENED HOOD CHECKED OIL EVERYTHING SEEMED FINE START DRIVING AGAIN I NOTICED IT WAS VERY TOUCHY ON GAS PEDAL YOU COULDN'T REALLY ACCELERATE. I GET LIKE 2 MILES DOWN THE ACCELERATOR STOPPED THEN IT JUST HAD THE WORST NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE AND THE DASH LIGHT SAID OIL WAS BLINKING ! I COULDN'T GO ANY FURTHER! I SAT THERE FOR A COUPLE HOURS FINALLY GOT A HOLD OF CAB COMPANY THAT BROUGHT ME OIL I PUT IT IN AND STILL THE WORST SOUNDING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE. MY FRIEND CAME AND GOT ME AND MY CAR IS STILL ON CHUCKANUT! AS WE SPEAK I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO NEXT CHUCKANUT IS ON HIGHWAY 11 IN WSHINGTON STATE THE CAR WAS IN MOTION AND NOW IS PARKED ON PULLOUT ON CHUCKANUT DRIVE
I BOUGHT THE KIA SOUL IN AUGUST OF 2019 AND EVERYTHING WORKED AS EXPECTED. THE MOTOR STARTED USING OIL UNEXPECTEDLY CONSUMING MORE THEN A QUART EVERY 1000 MILES ABOUT A YEAR AFTER I HAD THE CAR. THIS OIL USAGE IS NOT NORMAL. IT SHOULDN'T USE MORE THEN A QUART BETWEEN OIL CHANGES.
THERE WAS A RECALL, TOOK IT TO A LOCAL DEALER IN ROCKY MOUNT NC. WAS TOLD IT NEEDED CATALYTIC CONVERTER REPLACED. KIA HAD IT FIXED. ABOUT TWO MONTHS LATER CHECK ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING AND CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PASS 60. AGAIN I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP IN ROCKY MOUNT NC. WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THE CODES WERE,AND THAT THEY COULD RESET THE COMPUTER. AFTER DOING SO I RELOCATED TO HIGH POINT NC AND UPON ARRIVAL, IT BEGAN TO DO THE SAME. MY CAR HAS NOW BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP HERE IN HIGH POINT OVER A MONTH. THEY JUST CALLED STATING MY ENGINE WAS BLOWN. THAT IT WOULD COST 3633.94 FOR AN ENGINE. KIA WOULD PAY HALF. MY CAR ENGINE LIGHT TURNED ON THEN BEGAN TO SMOKE AND STALL OUT WHILE ON THE FREEWAY TT. THEN THE HOOD BEGAN SMOKING RAPIDLY AND LADY CALMING RUSHING TO ME YELLING FOR ME TO GET OUT THE CAR. I ESCAPED THE CAR LEFT THE DRIVER DOOR OPEN, THEN I NOTICED I LEFT MY WALLET AND KEYS IN THERE CAR. I GRABBED MY WALLET AND KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION. THEN CAR IGNITED IN FLAMES AND ALL DOORS AND WINDOWS LOCKED. THIS INCIDENT OCCURRED ON 4/26/20 @ 3PM.
WAS 2 MILES FROM HOME WHEN OIL LIGHT BLINKED A COUPLE OF TIMES. IT QUIT BLINKING BUT ENGINE STARTED SOUNDING LIKE LIFTERS KNOCKING. MADE IT HOME THAT WAY. NEXT MORNING CHANGED OIL THEN TRIED TO CRANK IT. CRANKED AND RAN ABOUT 30 SECONDS; OIL LIGHT BRIGHT THE ENTIRE TIME. TRIED AGAIN SAME THING. REMOVED OIL FILTER NO OIL GETTING TO IT. TALKED TO MECHANICS WHO SAID COULD BE OIL CONTROL VALVE GONE BAD. PULLED BOTH AND THEY WERE PLUGGED WITH METAL SHAVINGS. KNEW THEN BOTH OIL PUMP AND MOTOR WERE BAD. CALLED KIA,WAS TOLD THAT AS I HAD BOUGHT IT SECOND HAND THAT THE 83000 MILES ON IT MADE IT OUT OF WARRANTY. THAT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME.

HIGH EXHAUST GAS TEMPERATURES LED TO DAMAGE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER,ALLOWING ENGINE OIL TO ESCAPE DAMAGING VALVE GASKET, SPARK PLUGS, IGNITION COILS AND HEAD GASKET. ALSO 2 VALVES WERE BENT.THIS DAMAGE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE I-95 EXPRESSWAY IN JACKSONVILLE, FL. VEHICLE WENT INTO LIMP MODE WHILE GOING 55 MILES PER HOUR. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP.

REPORTEDLY THE ISSUE WAS RELATED TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND VALUE PURGE CONTROL, BOTH WHERE REPLACED. IN JUNE THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE, BUT THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED IT BE RETURNED TO THE DEALER DUE TO METAL SHAVINGS SEEN IN THE TANK. KIA RECENTLY ISSUED A WARNING ABOUT CHANGING THE OIL AS RECOMMENDED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED, YET THE OIL SEEMS TO EVAPORATE AFTER 1200 MILES. THIS IS PROBLEMATIC AND HAZARDOUS BECAUSE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS NEVER ILLUMINATED WITH ANY OF THE NOTED ISSUES.

ON FEB 15, 2020 I PURCHASED A 2015 KIA SOUL FROM A USED CAR DEALER IN AZ. IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS, THE VEHICLE STOPPED WORKING, AND AFTER IT WAS TOWED AND INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP, I WAS ADVISED THAT THE ENGINE WAS GOING TO NEED TO BE REPLACED.
