TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND STARTED TO SHAKE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE NORMALLY. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING UP A HILL, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND HESITATED TO MOVE. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO MASTRIA KIA (1555 NEW STATE HWY, RAYNHAM, MA 02767, (508) 802-6800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,600.
TL* THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER OWNS A 2015 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING SOUND COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO NOTICED SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS SAFELY GUIDED OFF THE ROADWAY. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED SEVERAL OIL LEAKS UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONNECTING ROD FRACTURED AND PUNCTURED THE ENGINE BLOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. AN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER, BUT THE CONTACT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
THE CAR DIED - IT WAS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IT WAS REPLACED - THEN SHORTLY AFTER THE ENGINE DIED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE READ THAT THE ENGINE WAS DAMAGED BY THE FAULT WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER - SO DOES THE MAN AT THE GARAGE - KIA JUST LAUGHS AT ME
STOPPED TO GET FOOD AND OIL LIGHT BEGAN FLICKERING WHEN WE WERE PARKED, WE CHECKED THE OIL AND IT HAD PLENTY. DRIVING TO THE HIGHWAY THE OIL LIGHT DIDN'T FLICKER. GOT ONTO HIGHWAY AND WE WERE GOING ABOUT 65 MPH THE ENGINE SUDDENLY STARTED MAKING A LOUD BANGING NOISE. A FEW MINUTES AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON. I SLOWED DOWN TO PULL OFF THE FREEWAY TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS HAPPENING. MY HUSBAND ASKED ME WHAT THE CAR WAS DOING, AND I TOLD HIM I DON'T KNOW. HE TOLD ME TO GO TO THE NEXT EXIT TO GET TO A SAFER AREA. I WAS REALLY SCARED, PANICKED AND SHAKING BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. WE LUCKILY WERE ABLE TO GET TO A SAFER AREA; WE PARKED THE CAR AND OPENED THE HOOD AND IT WAS STILL MAKING A LOUD BANGING SOUND IN THE ENGINE. DURING EVERYTHING I WAS ABLE TO PLUG MY CELLPHONE INTO THE USB PORT TO USE THE UVO APP FOR MY VEHICLE. I RECEIVED TWO CODES ON POSSIBLE CONDITION WITH THE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM. WE CONTACTED KIA FOR TOWING AND TURNED THE CAR OFF. WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER ARRIVED, HE STARTED THE CAR TO DRIVE IT ONTO THE TOW TRUCK AND IT SOUNDED THE SAME. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO OUR LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP IN OAKWOOD, GA. BECAUSE WE KNOW IT SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY. WE WERE ASKED TO PROVIDE THEM WITH OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS AND A FEW DAYS LATER WE WERE TOLD WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO OPEN THE ENGINE. IF THERE WAS NO SLUDGE IN THE ENGINE, THEN THEY WOULD PAY TO OPEN THE ENGINE AND REPLACE THE ENGINE. IT HAS NOW BEEN OVER 30 DAYS SINCE WE TOWED IT THERE AND WE HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING FURTHER. THIS CAR IS A 2015 KIA SOUL 2.0L WITH ONLY 65939 MILES. AFTER, I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE EXTENSIVELY IT'S VERY CONCERNING, AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY KIA REFUSES TO RECALL OR HANDLE THIS MODEL AND ENGINE. FURTHERMORE, THEIR RESPONSE REGARDING THIS MATTER HAS NOT BEEN A GOOD-FAITH EFFORT NOR A GENUINE APPROACH TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS CONCERNS.
OIL LEAK THAT RESULTED IN ENGINE KNOCKING NOISE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA SOUL. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED WHILE THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING, THE CONTACT HEARD A SQUEAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. THE CONTACT CALLED SEELYE KIA OF BATTLE CREEK (LOCATED AT 791 W DICKMAN RD, BATTLE CREEK, MI 49037, 269-441-8800, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SQUEAKING NOISE CONTINUED WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN RECENTLY MADE A POPPING SOUND. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS FAULTY, BUT COULD NOT DETERMINE THE CAUSE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO KIA OF JACKSON (LOCATED AT 3500 PAGE AVE, JACKSON, MI 49203, 571-764-4500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR THAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD PERFORM A GOODWILL REPAIR PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,000.
NO WARNING. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. VEHICLE LOST POWER. DEALER REPORTED PLUGGED EXHAUST. OCCURED WHILE DRIVING FROM HOME TO GET ON HIGHWAY. I AM THE ORIGINAL CAR OWNER. UNSUPPORTED IN EFFORTS TO GET WARRANTIED. THE 1.6 VS 2.0 LITER WAS RECALLED. CLEARLY A ISSUE....

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED OR NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
RADIATOR GETS DAMAGED BY ROAD DEBRIS BECAUSE OF FAULTY GUARD. CAUSES POOR VENTILATION CONTRIBUTING TO SYSTEM FAILURE AND BUILD UP OF UNVENTILATED CAUSTICS

THE VEHICLE STALLED WHILE DRIVING WITH ACCELERATOR DEPRESSED THE CONTACT WAS STRANDED UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED THE CONTACT BELIEVES THE ENGINE WAS DAMAGED DUE TO KNOCKING SOUND THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATE 50 MPH, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A SAFE LOCATION. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO THEN RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER A JUMP START HOWEVER, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL KNOCKING IN THE ENGINE. ADDITIONALLY, THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY ABLE TO BE OPERATED AT A REDUCED SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO SAFFORD KIA OF FREDERICKSBURG LOCATED AT 5204 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, FREDERICKSBURG, VA 22408, (540)891-7400. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE EXPERIENCED A FAILURE DUE TO THE CAMSHAFT BEARING WEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE, CASE NUMBER: 13339709. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,000.
WITHOUT ANY WARNING, NO WARNING LIGHTS ETC. OUR 2015 KIA SOUL ENGINE STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY WHILE WE WERE DRIVING. WE ACCELERATED UP A HILL AND IT JUST STARTED SHAKING LOUDLY. WE TOWED IT TO THE DEALERSHIP OVER A MONTH AGO. THEY SAID IT LOOKED LIKE IT RAN OUT OF OIL AND THAT WE NEEDED A NEW ENGINE. THIS MAKES NO SENSE TO US BECAUSE WE LOVE THAT CAR, IT IS OUR ONLY MODE OF TRANSPORTATION AND WE TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF IT AND KEEP UP WITH MAINTENANCE. IT HAS 114,000 MILES ON IT AND WE HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP STILL HAS OUR CAR FOR OVER A MONTH SAYING THEY ARE WAITING ON A BACK ORDERED GASKET. I JUST FIND IT ODD THAT A WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE JUST SUDDENLY LOSES OIL AND THE ENGINE BREAKS. THE INCIDENT HAPPENED ON A PAVED COUNTY ROAD WITHIN CITY LIMITS, SPEED WAS 45 MPH
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, SEVERAL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AS SHE HAD ATTEMPTED TO MERGE OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. ONCE SHE PULLED OVER, SHE SAW SMOKE EMITTING FROM THE ENGINE OF THE VEHICLE. SECONDS LATER, A FLAME BEGAN TO IGNITE WITHIN THE ENGINE, THEREFORE, THE CONTACT AND HER HUSBAND IMMEDIATELY EXITED THE VEHICLE. A STATE TROOPER INITIALLY ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND ATTEMPTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITH HIS EXTINGUISHER; HOWEVER, THE FLAMES GREW QUICKLY WHICH RENDERED THE EXTINGUISHER INEFFECTIVE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT EVENTUALLY ARRIVED AT THE SCENE AND WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF A FIRE OR A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT TOW YARD WHERE IT WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REQUESTED THE SERVICE HISTORY ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT THEN REACHED OUT TO MATHEWS NISSAN SERVICE(185 HIGHWAY 76 SERVICE BAY ENTRANCE, CLARKSVILLE, TN 37043), WHERE SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, AND THEY WERE ONLY ABLE TO PROVIDE HER RECORDS FROM WHEN THEY CAME INTO POSSESSION OF THE VEHICLE. DUE TO THE LACK OF INFORMATION, THE FAILURE WAS NEVER INVESTIGATED BY THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000.
DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AT ABOUT 35 MPH, THE ENGINE BEGAN RAPPING WITH NO OIL LIGHT WARNING. STOPPED THE CAR, THE OIL LIGHT FINALLY WENT ON, NO OIL WAS LEAKING, BUT CHECKING THE OIL LEVEL REVEALED THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE IS A TOTAL LOSS.
2015 KIA SOUL 2.0 L ENGINE. ENGINE FAILURE AT 83,000 MILES. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK THE ENGINE STARTED TICKING, WITHIN 1 MILE IT STARTED KNOCKING. I WENT TO PULL OVER IN A SAFE SPOT OFF OF THE ROAD. BEFORE I COULD PULL OFF THE ROAD THE ENGINE STALLED. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND COASTED OFF OF THE ROAD. IT WOULD NOT RESTART AS THE ENGINE WAS SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A KIA DEALERSHIP IN LONGVIEW TEXAS - PELTIER KIA. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED WITH ALL SERVICE AND OIL CHANGES PERFORMED AT MANUFACTURER SPECIFIED INTERVALS.
THE HEADLIGHTS FLICKERED ON AND OFF REPEATEDLY AND THEN REMAINED OFF. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES, INITIALLY WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AND THEN PARKED. THIS OCCURRED IN AN APARTMENT PARKING LOT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT TIRE EXPERIENCED A BLOWOUT. THE CONTACT TEMPORARILY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND STRUCK THE CURB THREE TIMES BEFORE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A HALT. THERE WAS NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE SPARE TIRE WAS PLACED ON THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MICHEL TIRE PLUS (750 NW WASHINGTON BLVD, HAMILTON, OH 45013, (513) 454-6724) TO HAVE A NEW TIRE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEEL BELTS ON ALL THE REMAINING TIRES WERE SEPARATED AND ALL THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT TWO TIRES WERE REPLACED. JEFF WYLER FAIRFIELD-CADILLAC KIA NISSAN (5815 DIXIE HWY, FAIRFIELD, OH 45014, (513) 682-2500) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER KIA WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AS WELL AS A COMPLAINT WAS FILED ON KIA'S WEBSITE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,337.

I BOUGHT MY 2015 KIA SOUL + BRAND NEW. I DID ALL MY OWN SERVICE WORK AND KEPT UP WITH MAINTENANCE AS REQUIRED. AT AROUND 100K THE MOTOR STARTED USING ABOUT 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1,000 MILES. AT 122K, WHILE DRIVING AT 40MPH ON A HIGHWAY THE ENGINE BECAME VERY LOUD AND AND AS I DECELERATED, THE OIL LIGHT FLICKERED ON. I SHUT IT OFF AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. THE OIL LEVEL WAS LESS THAN A QUART LOW AT THAT POINT. WE CHECKED CODES AND THEY WERE CAM AND CRANK SENSORS OUT OF ALIGNMENT. WE PULLED THE VALVE COVER AND FOUND A VERY LOOSE CHAIN. TO BE SAFE WE ALSO PULLED THE HEAD. NUMBER 3 CYLINDER PISTON WAS LOOSE. THE ROD BEARING WAS DESTROYED (MELTED RIGHT TO THE CRANK), ALL OTHER BEARING LOOKED VERY GOOD, WITH LITTLE WEAR. CALLED KIA AND WAS TOLD IT WAS OUT OF WARRANTY. SPENT OVER $3,000 FOR A NEW SHORT BLOCK WITH NO HELP FROM KIA.
PISTON SLAPPING. ENGINE IS SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE ON A HILL IT IT WORSE. IT CHOKES STOPS RUNNING AND REFUSES TO START. THE OIL IS ESCAPING OUT OF THE ENGINE DUE TO THE HIGH HARD PISTON SLAPPING WHICH IS MAKING A GOD AWFUL NOISE! THE CAR IS UNSAFE. IT SMELLS LIKE FIRE. I SEE THE RECALLS OF THE 1.6 ENGINE BUT THIS 2.0 IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING.
WE HAD A RECALL SO WE BROUGHT OUR KIA SOUL 2015 TO BE REPAIRED. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR A MONTH . WHEN WE GOT THE CAR BACK IT WASN'T THE SAME ,THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WE CALLED THEM AGAIN THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL AND OUR CAR WAS FINE. WE KEPT CALLING THEM THE IT WASN'T. WE WERE GOING TO NH FOR A FAMILY REUNION AND BRING HIS DAUGHTER BACK OO. THEY SAID THAT THEY NEEDED TO SEE THE CAR ONNLY WHEN THE LIGHT WAS ON, IT ALWAYS CAME ON AT ODD TIMES. BUT THEY ASSISTED IT WAS FINE TO GO UP NORTH, WELL WHEN WE HIT MASS. THE CAR BLEW IT'S ENGINE. THEY RIED TO SAY WE HAD NO OIL IN IN, MY HUSBAND CHANGED THE OIL BEFORE WELEFT AND EVERYTHING THAT THE RECALL SAID WOULD HAPPEN DID HAPPEN. . THE CAR WAS LEFT IN MASS AT TEWKSBURY KIA AND KIA WOULD NOT FIT THE BILL. SO WE HAVE NO CAR SINCE WE WERE IN FINANCIAL STRESS. I HAVE NO CAR THEY CAME AND TOOK FROM US. AND I STILL HAVE TO PAY EVEN THOUGH I HAD THE INSURANCE WERE SOMETHING HAPPEN IT GET PAID OFF. SO ON A MAIN HIGHWAY OUR CAR DIED IN THE FLOW OF TRAFFIC THE SCARCEST THING IN THE WORLD. HAD TO GET A HOTEL, RENTAL LOSS OF WORK AND HAD TO DEPEND ON NEIGHBORS FOR A RIDE TO WORK, I LOVED OUR CAR. BRYAN KIA IN LEESBURG FL DIDN'T DO US RIGHT OR KIA WE DID OUR PART THEY DIDN'T , I HAVE THE REPAIR BILLS AT HOME, AT WORK JUST FOUND THIS SITE. PLEASE HELP US
MY 2015 KIA SOUL IS NOW SITTING AT A SHOP, DUE TO THE FACT THAT WITHOUT ANY WARNING AS I WAS TRAVELING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IT DECIDED TO SLOW DOWN AND SHAKE THEN STALL MANAGED TO GET IT STARTED AND GET OFF THE HIGHWAY TO A STORE, CHECKED THE OIL THERE WASN'T ANY IN THE ENGINE EVEN THOUGH 2 DAYS BEFORE I HAD JUST HAD IT CHANGED. THAT WAS ON AUGUST 7 2019 AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT SEEMS THAT KIA HAS LET ALOT OF PEOPLE DOWN BY SELLING DEFECTIVE CARS AND FOR ME I AM STILL STUCK WITH PAYMENTS WITH NO WAY TO EVEN SAVE FOR A REPLACEMENT ENGINE AS I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT NEEDS. I HOPE THAT THEY COME TO THEIR SENSE AND DO THE RIGHT THING.
I HAVE ALWAYS TAKEN EXCELLENT SERVICE CARE OF MY KIA SOUL, NOW IT HAS ABOUT 72K MILES ON IT. I WAS DRIVING AND HEARD SOME KNOCKING NOISES, A WHOOSHING SOUND, AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER AND CHECKED THE OIL, AND IT WAS ABOUT 2.5 QUARTS LOW WITH NO APPARENT LEAKS. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO OUR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. HE INSPECTED THE CAR FOR REPAIR NEEDS AND SERVICE ESTIMATE. FOUND THE VEHICLE HAD DROPPED A VALVE, HAD A BROKEN PISTON, AND A ROD BEARING WAS SPRUNG ON THE CRANKSHAFT. I DID SOME ONLINE SEARCHING AND FOUND RECALL SC176 WHICH STATED THAT THE ENGINES INVOLVED WITH THIS RECALL MAY EXPERIENCE INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE PISTONS AND CONNECTING RODS DUE TO A CONCERN WITH EXHAUST TEMPERATURES. IF SO, THAT WOULD EXPLAIN THE OIL LOSS/BURN. HOWEVER, MY CAR VIN IS NOT BEING INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL. AGAIN, I'M VERY UNHAPPY BECAUSE, UNTIL THIS HAPPENED, I'VE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO THE SAME SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT HAS WORKED ON MY CAR FOR YEARS FOR THE RECALL (UPLOADING MY RECEIPT), MY CAR WOULD ONLY GO UP ABOUT 1 TO 2 MPH, AND NOW THEY ARE STATING NOTHING'S WRONG WITH THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. MY VEHICLE TOWED TO A SECOND KIA SERVICE DEPARTMENT, AND THEY NEVER CHECKED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER SAYING IT'S THE FUEL INJECTION, NOT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. ALSO, THEY GAVE AN ESTIMATED 600 TO 900 DOLLARS TO FIX IT. I HAD THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER PULLED BY A LICENSED MECHANIC SHOP, AND THAT STATED IT IS THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND THE PART ALONE IS 1100 DOLLARS. I'M UPLOADING A PICTURE OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER PULLED OFF MY CAR IT HAS GRAY LOOKING DUST AND IS CLOGGED. I NEED MY CAR; DO I PAY FOR THIS SHOP AND FIGHT FOR MY MONEY BACK? THE CAR HAD BEEN IN FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND MAINTENANCE CHECK ON APRIL 3, 2019 AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THEY HAVE SEEN THIS BEFORE IN KIAS AND THAT IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE. THE CAR HAS 80K MILES ON IT.

THE DAY PRIOR TO THIS, I HAD CHECKED MY OIL AND IT WAS AT NORMAL LEVEL. AFTER THE ENGINE HAD SIEZED, THERE WAS NO OIL ON THE ENGINE WHATSOEVER. NOW I'M STUCK MAKING PAYMENTS ON A ONCE NICE CAR THAT I NOW CANNOT DRIVE UNTILL I CAN COME UP WITH 6,000 DOLLARS TO REPLACE IT.

ON 6/28/2019, WAS DRIVING ON INTERSTATE AND ENGINE STARTED MAKING TERRIBLE NOISE WITH SEVERE SYNCOPATED VIBRATIONS AND SAW SOME SMOKE/STEAM COMING FROM RIGHT (PASSENGER) SIDE OF HOOD/ENGINE. PULLED OVER AT IMMEDIATELY AVAILABLE OFF RAMP. MILEAGE WAS 135,191. MECHANIC SAID ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND PROBLEM WAS LIKELY CAUSED BY SOME ASPECT OF THE VARIABLE VALVE TIMING NOT ACTUATING IN ORDER TO PROPERLY TENSION THE TIMING CHAIN. TOWED VEHICLE TO KIA DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. WE DROVE THE CAR REGULARLY FOR 100,000 MI WITH NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS AT ALL, MAINTAINED IT FAITHFULLY, AND IT FAILED INSTANTANEOUSLY. THAT INDICATES A DESIGN FLAW. IF I HAD BEEN TRAVELING IN TRAFFIC, THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER COULD HAVE BEEN INJURIOUS OR FATAL.

While driving at 55 miles per hour, the engine suddenly ceased, emitting black smoke, causing components to melt and necessitating the replacement of the short block. Consequently, the catalytic converter is now malfunctioning, likely due to the misfires the engine experienced.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE EMITTED SMOKE AND IN NO TIME, BECAME COVERED WITH SMOKE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WITHIN THIRTY SECONDS, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE BECAME ENGULFED WITH FLAMES. THERE WAS NO WARNING, EXCEPT THAT THE CONTACT SMELLED A BURNING RUBBER IN THE PAST, BUT DID NOT MAKE ANYTHING OF IT. THERE WAS NO INJURY. THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED BY THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. BOTH POLICE AND FIRE REPORTS WERE FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED AND WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT SOMEONE WOULD CALL. THE CONTACT WAS NOT CALLED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 23,997. *BF
WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD ON A CITY STREET GOING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO MAKE KNOCKING NOISES AND THE SEIZED AFTER I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN I GOT OUT TO CHECK THE OIL IT HAD ALL LEAKED OUT ONTO THE ROAD CAUSING MY OIL TANK TO BE DRY. THE CAR NOW WILL NOT START AND KIA HAS REFUSED TO FIX IT AND SAYS I AM OUT OF WARRANTY, BECAUSE I AM NOT THE FIRST OWNER OF THE CAR EVEN THOUGH I WAS OFFERED THE WARRANTY WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR.
