TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, A BLACK SMOKE BEGAN TO EMIT FROM VEHICLE AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER, FLAMES BEGAN TO IGNITE FROM UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE AUTHORITIES WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE OF THE FIRE AND THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED AT THE SCENE. DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS LATER DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED HER THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AT THE TIME OF FAILURE. RECENTLY, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 20V750000(ENGINE) WHICH SHE LINKED TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 78,000.
MY FRIENDS 2015 KIA SOUL CAUGHT FIRE WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WE CAN SEE WHERE THERE WAS A RECALL FOR A FAULTY FUEL, I BELIEVE. STRANGELY THOUGH HER VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FIRE STARTED IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND SHE WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER AND GET OUT BEFORE THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY ENGULFED IN FLAMES. SOMEBODY SHOULD BE INVESTIGATING WHY ALL OF THESE VEHICLES ARE NOT BEING RECALLED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS FAULTY. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND LOST POWER. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER ONTO THE ROAD SHOULDER AND COULD NOT RESTART THE ENGINE. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT A NEW ENGINE NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. A NEW ENGINE AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER WERE INSTALLED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
MY VEHICLE IS HAVING ISSUES STARTING. THE STARTER AND BATTERY HAVE ALL BEEN REPLACED ALREADY. I HAD THE BATTERY REPLACED AND SOON AS I DROVE AWAY IT STALLED AND I WAS STRANDED. I HAVE READ NUMERIOUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS OF THE SAME VEHICLE. I NEED HELP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2015 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT'S DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE UNDERNEATH THE ENGINE. PRIOR TO THE VEHICLE CATCHING FIRE, THE EMISSIONS WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALERSHIP (LAKESIDE CHEVROLET 2005 S GOLIAD ST, ROCKWALL, TX 75087, 972-638-8377). A FIRE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED SEVERAL WEEKS PRIOR TO THIS EVENT AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON HIS VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 100,000.
2.0 ENGINE CONNECTING ROD WENT BAD. WHEN EXCELARAITED CAR BACKFIRED LOUD SCREECH SOUND FROM UNDER HOOD AND THEN KNOCKIN FROM ENGINE FROM CONNECTING ROD. WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
JUNE 18, 2019-DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, STARTED TO PASS A SLOW MOVING VEHICLE, PRESSED ACCELERATOR AND IT WOULD NOT GO FASTER AT FIRST, THEN IT DID GO A LITTLE FASTER. I MOVED BACK INTO DRIVING LANE AND PROCEEDED BUT I SLOWED DOWN TO 55 MPH (POSTED SPEED LIMIT 70) . KEPT LOSING SPEED, PUT ON EMERGENCY FLASHERS, AS I WAS EXITING OFF HIGHWAY TO SAFE SPOT SMOKE STARTED BILLOWING FROM BEHIND VEHICLE. STOPPED CAR, AS GOOD WAS OPENED A SMALL FIRE TURNED LARGER. I GRABBED MY FIRE EXTINGUISHER FROM BACK STORAGE COMPARTMENT AND EXTINGUISHED FIRE. TOW TRUCK DRIVER ARRIVED, NEEDING TO MAKE SURE IT COULD BE TOWED WITHOUT A POSSIBLE REIGNITION OF FIRE, HE REMOVED THE COVER AND ASKED ME TO ATTEMPT TO PUT VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL TO BE ABLE TO PUSH IT BACK TO A POSITION TO BE ABLE TO GET IT ON TOW TRUCK. PUSH BUTTON START, TWO PUSH FOR ACCESSORY POSITION. TOW TRUCK DRIVER WITNESSED FUEL SQUIRTING FROM A FUEL LINE NEAR THE FUEL REGULATOR. TOW TRUCK DRIVER COULD ACTUALLY INSERT HIS PEN TOP INTO THE SIZE HOLE THAT IS THERE. VEHICLE TOWED TO CAR DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASE IT NEW. I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR IF THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO GET IT IN THE SHOP THIS WEEK, IF NOT THEY SAID IT WOULD BE MONDAY JUNE 24, 2019. PICTURES ATTACHED. NO INVOICES YET EXCEPT THE TOW INVOICE WHICH I NEED TO SUBMIT TO MY INSURANCE COMPANY FOR REIMBURSEMENT. IN RESEARCHING ANY UNKNOWN RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE, I FOUND THIS INFORMATION TODAY AND ATTACHED MY SCREENSHOT.
WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH ON CITY STREET, WITHOUT WARNING, CAR STALLED. TOWED TO LOCAL DEALER TO FIND OUT THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED. BOUGHT USED THROUGH A DEALER IN TOWN WITH 102K MILES ON IT, HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR ABOUT A MONTH. EXCELLENT OIL CHANGE HISTORY ON CARFAX.
WE JUST RECEIVED OUR SOUL BACK FOR THE LATEST KIA RECALL SERVICE AFTER BEING 1 WEEK AT THE DEALERSHIP, WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ENGINE SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TRAFFIC ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENT AND INJURY. CALLED DEALERSHIP RICK CASE KIA (SUNRISE FL) THEY ASKED US TO TOW THE CAR IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC. RECEIVED A CALL FROM DEALERSHIP STATING ITS A BAD BATTERY CELL THAT CAUSED THE ISSUE, HAD TO SPEND $150 TO GET THE BATTERY REPLACED AS PER RECOMMENDATION. AFTER RECEIVING THE CAR BACK YESTERDAY AFTERNOON, THE SAME THING HAPPENED IN THE NIGHT THE ENGINE JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING WE HAD OUR GRAND KIDS IN THE CAR GOING TO PICKUP OUR DAUGHTER FROM WORK. THIS TIME IT WAS A VERY CLOSE CALL NEARLY GOT HIT. CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THERE RESPONSE WAS GET IT TOWED IN AGAIN AND WE WILL TAKE A LOOK. THEY MENTIONED THE ISSUE IS GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH RECENT RECALL, BUT THE ISSUES HAVE STARTED POST RECALL FIX. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN AS I WORK FOR FLORIDA DEPARTMENT FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILY SERVICES AND AS JOB REQUIREMENT HAVE TO DRIVE FOSTER KIDS AROUND, MAJORITY HIGHWAY DRIVING SOMETHING LIKE THIS ON HIGHWAY WOULD DEFINITELY CAUSE AN ISSUE. CAR BRAND NEW BATTERY IS SHOWING AS DRAINED AGAIN AND DEALERSHIP IS JUST JERKING US AROUND INSTEAD OF TAKING FULL RESPONSIBILITY AND FIXING THE CAR.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MORITZ KIA FORT WORTH (8501 WEST FWY, FORT WORTH, TX 76116, (817) 502-9181) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND STALLED. IN ADDITION, THE OIL AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT POWERED OFF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN SLOWLY TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT A FAILURE COULD NOT BE FOUND; HOWEVER, A TUNE-UP AND OIL CHANGE WERE COMPLETED. AFTER THE CONTACT LEFT THE MECHANIC, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BATTERY FAILED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED, BUT THEN THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERY WAS NOT THE SOURCE OF THE FAILURE. THE MECHANIC TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND INFOMED THE CONTACT THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TOWED TO KIA OF EAST HARTFORD (LOCATED AT 99 ASH ST, EAST HARTFORD, CT 06108, (860) 291-7000) WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,000.
I WAS LEAVING WORK AND NOTICED A LOUD TICKING SOUND AND STOPPED ACCELERATING . I PULLED OVER ABOUT A BLOCK AWAY FROM WORK INTO A PARKING LOT AND CALLED FOR A RIDE. MY CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY SO I HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO TOLD ME THE ENGINE WAS BLOWN. IT WAS FINE WITH NO SOUND WHILE DRIVING TO WORK 9 HOURS BEFORE. THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING SUPER HOT AND I NEVER GOT ANY INDICATION OF A PROBLEM OTHER THEN THAT LOUD TICKING WHEN I PULLED OVER. OF COURSE KIA WON'T DO ANYTHING BECAUSE MY ENGINE IS A 2.0 WHEN ONLY THE 1.6 WAS ON THE RECALL. BUT AFTER MY RESEARCH I'VE SEEN MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO THEM WITH THE 2.0 AS WELL! NOW I HAVE TO TAKE OUT A LOAN FOR 4000 DOLLARS TO HAVE MY ENGINE REPLACED WITH A USED ONE BECAUSE I'M STILL PAYING ON MY CAR!
DROVE UP A HILL FOR A DELIVERY. CAR STALLED HALF WAY UP THE HILL. TRIED TO RESTART CAR, WHEN DOING SO & PUT THE GEARS INTO DRIVE THE CAR ROLLED BACK SOME. WITH THIS, THE ENGINE & BATTERY LIGHTS CAME ON. TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR THREE OR FOUR MORE TIMES. ON THE LAST ATTEMPT, THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS. PUT THE CAR IN PARK & TURNED OFF THE IGNITION BUT THE CAR WASN'T STOPPING. IN PANIC MODE, DIDN'T TRY TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. ENDED UP HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE WITH THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE. ON TOP OF THE DAMAGE DONE TO THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE & THE OTHER PERSON'S, THE TWO PASSENGER TIRES OF MY VEHICLE BLEW OUT.
ON JUNE 1ST, MY SO WAS DRIVING FROM OUR HOME TO ST.JOHNS, MI 5 MILES INTO THE TRIP THE OIL LIGHT BLINKED TWICE AND THEN THE CAR STARTED SLOWING DOWN TO 20MPH. HE PULLED OVER AND WE CALLED MY HUSBAND AND HE LOOKED AT IT AND SAID IT LOOKED LIKE IT HAD A BLOWN PISTON. WE HAD IT TOWED TO HIS SHOP UNTIL WE COULD HAVE IT TOWED TO KIA. OVER THAT WEEKEND I RESEARCHED THE RECALL AND EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL WAS NOT FOR OUR MOTOR ( WHICH OUR MOTOR IS A 2.0) IT DID THE SAME THING AS THE OTHER ONES. I ALSO READ THE OTHER COMPLAINTS AND THERE WAS THREE FROM OUR AREA AND WITH THE SAME MOTOR AS OURS. SO ON THE 3RD OF JUNE I CALLED KIA AND HAD IT TOWED. BY THE 5TH THEY SAID A NEW MOTOR WAS BEING SHIPPED AND IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY. KIA OF LANSING SET ME UP WITH A RENTAL CAR AND PLAYED FOR IT UNTIL JULY 6TH, 2019. WE RECEIVED A A CALL TODAY JUNE 20TH SAYING THAT KIA MOTORS WAS NOT PAYING FOR THE MOTOR CAUSE I'M THE SECOND OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. I TOLD THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT I HAVEN'T EVEN OWNED IT 7 MONTHS. HE SAID IT WOULD BE $6200 TO PUT A NEW MOTOR IN. I TOLD NOW WHY WOULD I SPEND $6200 ON A MOTOR WHEN I STILL OWE $12,000 ON IT AND ITS ONLY WORTH $6500. THE SERVICE MANAGER AND TECHNICIAN TOLD ME TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT CAUSE THEY KNOW THESE CARS ARE JUNK. THE SERVICE MANAGER ALSO SAID THAT THE MOTOR DOING WHAT IT DID WAS NOT OUR FAULT HE COULD SEE WE HAD KEPT UP ON THE MAINTENANCE.
HEADLIGHTS MYSTERIOUSLY BEGIN FLICKERING AFTER USING TURN SIGNAL OR FLICKER WITHOUT USING THE TURN SIGNAL. LIGHTS HAVE TURNED COMPLETELY OFF WITHOUT WARNING AT NIGHT CREATING AN EXTREMELY UNSAFE CONDITION.
WHEN I GO TO COME TO A STOP AT A STOP LIGHT OR STOP SIGH, SOMETIMES THE ENGINE WILL STALL OUT AND ALL POWER IS LOST. THE HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF COMPLETELY AND RESTART IT. THEN IT DRIVES FINE AGAIN UNTIL I COME TO ANOTHER STOP. IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME BUT IT HAPPENS ALOT.
2015 KIA SOUL USING ABOUT A QUART OF OIL EVERY 2000 MILES. SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH LOCAL DEALERSHIP IN HAGERSTOWN, MD. PERSON ON THE PHONE SAID THEY WOULD PERFORM AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST. TOOK IT TOO THE DEALER AND SERVICE ADVISOR CAME OUT AND SHOWED ME A SHEET WITH $1300 WORTH OF RECOMMENDED SERVICE WORK.I ASKED IF THEY CHANGED THE OIL AND HE SAID THEY WERE WAITING FOR KIA TO CALL THEM BACK. I ALSO EXPLAINED TO THE SERVICE REP THAT NHTSA HAD AN OPEN INVESTIGATION ON THE 2.0 LITER MOTOR AND HE ACTED LIKE HE KNEW NOTHING ABOUT IT. I SAID I DIDN'T WANT THE VEHICLE TO BLOW UP AND LEAVE ME STRANDED. THE CAR HAS ONLY 54000 MILES ON IT. I HOPE NHTSA MOVES QUICKLY ON THIS INVESTIGATION. I FEEL KIA IS DRAGGING ME AND OTHERS ALONG HOPING THEY WON'T HAVE TO DO A RECALL AS THEY DID WITH THE 1.6 AND 2.4 MOTORS. THERE IS NO WAY THE SERVICE ADVISOR DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THE ONGOING ISSUES WITH THESE MOTORS. I FIND IT HARD TO BELIEVE KIA HAS NOT SENT INTERNAL BULLETINS TO DEALERSHIPS REGARDING THIS ISSUE.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR AT 62,000 MILES AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER I STILL HAD A POWERTRAIN WARRANTY UNTIL 100,000 MILES. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH OIL DISAPPEARING FROM THE START. I HAVE TO PUT IN OIL BETWEEN CHANGES AND HAVE BEEN GETTING IT CHANGED EVERY 3000 MILES. IT TAKES ABOUT 2 QUARTS IN BETWEEN CHANGES. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF LEAKS, NOTHING IN MY DRIVEWAY OR ANYWHERE I PARK. I DID READ THAT THEY RECALLED THE 1.6 LTR ENGINE BUT HAVE NOT RECALLED THE 2.0 LTR. I AM HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AS THE 1.6. I SEE MANY PEOPLE WITH THE 2.0 HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. PLEASE GET INVOLVED AS I SEE NO RECALL ON MY CAR AND IT IS NOT RIGHT THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PUT IN SO MUCH OIL BETWEEN CHANGES. THE OIL LIGHT HAS NEVER COME ON AND THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED IT, THE OIL WAS RIGHT AT THE LOW MARK. THE OIL ALWAYS LOOKS FUZZY WHICH IN MY 50 YEARS OF DRIVING OLD CARS AND CHECKING THE OIL CONSTANTLY, I HAVE NEVER SEEN. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ASAP. I AM AT 87,000 RIGHT NOW. PLEASE HELP US MAKE SURE THAT KIA DOES THE RIGHT THING IN THIS. I HAVE READ THROUGH THIS WEBSITE AND SEEN MANY OTHER KIA OWNER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.

FAYETTEVILLE KIA (2012 SKIBO RD, FAYETTEVILLE, NC 28314, (910) 864-1449) WAS CONTACTED AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED; HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT SCHEDULE A REPAIR FOR ANOTHER TWO WEEKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, I EXPERIENCED POWER LOSS WITHIN THE CAR. THEN THE ENGINE STARTED KNOCKING. HAVEN'T STOPPED SINCE. MY CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP SINCE TUESDAY MORNING WITH NOTHING BEING SAID ABOUT IT
I HAVE A 2015 KIA SOUL 2.0L ENGINE. I GET ALL SCHEDULE MAINTENANCE DONE, INCLUDING REGULAR OIL CHANGES. I HAVE NOTICED THAT OIL BURNS EXTREMELY QUICKLY OUT OF THE CAR AS IF IT DISAPPEARS. I HAD THE CONVERSATION WITH A MECHANIC AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT THAT I DRIVE MY CAR AND THAT THEY DIDN'T SEE ANY PROBLEMS. I FOUND MYSELF PUTTING OIL IN MY CAR EVERY 2 WEEKS OR SO BECAUSE THE OIL WOULD BE LOW. I WAS GETTING MY OIL CHANGED AND THE MECHANIC STATED THAT MY OIL WAS BURNING HOT AND SUGGESTED I GET MY CAR TO A FULL AUTO SHOP. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL MECHANIC AND THEY NOTICED THE SAME THING BUT COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. A WEEK OR SO LATER, I'M DRIVING ON A CITY STREET GOING ABOUT 45 IN A 50. I PRESSED THE GAS TO ACCELERATE SO THAT I COULD CHANGE LANES AND MY CAR IMMEDIATELY LOST POWER AND DROPPED DOWN TO 20MPH. I IMMEDIATELY TURNED ON MY HAZARDS AND TRIED TO CHANGE LANES. MY ENGINE BEGAN TO JERK AND THEN WENT BACK TO NORMAL SPEED. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS INTERMITTENT MISFIRES IN CYL 2 AND 3. I HAD THE SPARK PLUGS CHANGED, 2 AND TWO COIL PACKS DONE, BUT WAS STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. WAS ALSO TOLD THE OIL WAS LOW, THOUGH I HAD JUST HAD AN OIL CHANGE. MY OIL LIGHT FLASHES AND MY ENGINE STALLS. I HAD JUST PUT OIL IN MY CAR. I WAS TOLD THAT MY ENGINE HAD LOCKED BUT THEY COULD NOT FIGURE OUT WHY.

THE CONTACT FOUND OUT THAT THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY FOR KIA DID NOT TRANSFER TO A SECONDARY OWNER. THE CONTACT WAS SOLD A WARRANTY EXTENSION BY THE DEALER WHEN SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADMITTED THAT THEY NEVER CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO FIND OUT IF THE WARRANTY TRANSFERRED TO THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,300.

THE HOUSING UNIT FOR THE LEFT HEADLIGHT MELTED CAUSING THE HEADLIGHT NOT TO FUNCTION. THE LIGHT IS NOT BURNT OUT. THE LIGHT IN THE HOUSING IS THE ORIGINAL FACTORY LIGHT. THE KIA DEALERSHIP WILL NOT RECOGNIZE THIS AS EQUIPMENT MALFUNCTION. TH DEALERSHIP STATED THERE HAS ONLY BEEN A RECALL ON THE SORENTO MODEL FOR THAT PROBLEM.
THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A YEAR AND WE HAVE TAKEN IT TO A KIA DEALERSHIP A TOTAL OF 4TIMES. FIRST TIME THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC AND ALL IT SHOWED WAS IT WAS LOW ON OIL. 2X WE HAD TO TOW IT TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP. WE WAS ON A HIGHWAY GOING UP THE SMALLEST OF INCLINES AND IT STARTED TO SPUDDER AND LOST COMPLETE POWER. IT WAS TOWED TO OUR HOUSE THEN WHEN WE REALIZED THAT THERE WAS RECALLS WE TOWED IT TO KIA. TOLD THE PEOPLE ABOUT THE RECALL ON IT AND THEY JUST CHANGED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND GAVE IT BACK ABOUT A MONTH OR SO LATER IT STARTED TO DO THE SAME THING AGAIN LOSING POWER UP HILLS AND SPUDDERING.. TOOK IT BACK UP THERE ALL THEY DID WAS CHANGED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AGAIN AND AFTER HAVING IT A MONTH OR SO THEY GAVE IT BACK TOLD ME TO DRIVE IT 1000 MILES AND BRING IT BACK TO THEM. MY PROBLEM IS THE CAR ISN'T SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE AND NOW I AM AFRAID OF IT STARTING ON FIRE. I DON'T WANT THIS CAR ANYMORE THERE ARE 2 MANY ISSUES AND I'M JUST NOT COMFORTABLE WITH IT. I WAS SLOWING DOWN FOR STOP SIGN AND CAR JUST CUT OFF. BRAKES BECAME HARD TO USE AND I COULD NOT STEER. HAD CAR TOWED TO HOUSE. I LET IT COOL DOWN AND THEN CHECKED ALL FLUIDS, RADIATOR AND ENGINE OIL WERE FINE. I WAS ABLE TO START CAR BUT IT WAS STILL CLACKING. I HAD READ ON LINE IF YOU LET IN IDLE CLACKING MIGHT GO AWAY, I DID AND IT BECAME LESS CLACKING, I DROVE IT AROUND THE HOUSE , WE HAVE A DRIVEWAY THAT GOES AROUND HOUSE. 3/4 OF THE WAY AROUND IT STALLED AGAIN. I WAS UNABLE TO RESTART IT. HAD TOWED TO SHOP THEY ARE SAYING NEEDS NEW MOTOR. THE ONLY CODE ON COMPUTER IS CAM POSITION. I HAVE NOTICE THAT KIA HAS HAD A LOT OF ISSUES WITH OTHER ENGINE OF SAME YEAR BUT NOT THE 2.0 WHICH IS THE SAME MOTOR WITH BIGGER PISTONS. I TOLD HIM AT THIS POINT I FELT UNSAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. HE ASSURED ME IT WAS SAFE. THEY HAD TOLD ME TO CHECK OIL EVERY OTHER GAS FILLUP AND TOP OIL OFF, SAID TODAY SOME VEHICLES YOU JUST NEED TO TOP OIL OFF....WHILE OUT OF TOWN AS I STOPPED OFF INTERSTATE & GOT GAS I OPENED HOOD TO CHECK OIL LEVEL LIKE JASON HAD INSTRUCTED. MY ROUTE HOME REQUIRED A 30 MILE INTERSTATE DRIVE THAT SEEMED WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE. I HAD IT TOWED TO A DEALER AND WAS INFORMED IT WOULD REQUIRE A NEW ENGINE. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 69,000 MILES AND HAS REGULARLY SCHEDULED OIL CHANGES. WHEN ASKED WHAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE ISSUE, THE DEALER SERVICE ADVISOR STATED THAT IT IS USUALLY DUE TO A LACK OF LUBRICANT, BUT HE DIDN'T SEE ANY SIGN OF THAT OR SLUDGE BUILD UP.
LOSS OF POWER, NEEDS OIL EVERY 1K MILES. CATALYTIC THROUGH THE MUFFLER CLOGGED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. EVERYTHING STATED IN THE SC176 RECALL FOR THE 1.7L ENGINE IS EXACTLY THE SAME ON THE 2.0 BEEN GETTING WORSE AND WORSE WONT LAST ANOTHER YEAR.

PURCHASED THE VEHICLE FROM A DEALERSHIP IN NOVEMBER 2018. THESE PROBLEMS ARE NEW AND HAVE NEVER OCCURRED BEFORE. THE FEELING IS WORSE THAN OTHER TIMES RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING. FOR A FACT IT IS ABSOLUTELY WORSE WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING OVERNIGHT AT HOME OR AT WORK ALL DAY

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO CRAIN KIA OF FORT SMITH (8200 US-71, FORT SMITH, AR 72908) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
