MY 2007 LEXUS HYPER ACCELERATED. I HAD THE RE-CALL WORK DONE ON THIS. IT WAS AS IF THE CAR HAD A MIND OF IT'S OWN IT WAS DAMAGED AND I WAS HURT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LEXUS ES350. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 5 MPH AND PREPARING TO STOP AT A LIGHT WHEN THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ENGINE EXHIBITED AN UNUSUAL INCREASE IN RPMS WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS CONTACT AND THEY REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14,000.
THE CAR ACCELERATION IS OUT OF CONTROL. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR 4 YEARS NOW. MY CAR WAS 2 YEARS OLD WHEN IT STARTED. I HAVE TAKEN THE CAR TO SEVERAL LEXUS DEALERSHIPS AND THEY PLAYED AS IF I WAS CRAZY OR IF I WAS IMAGINING THE PROBLEM. MY DAUGHTER AND I WAS ALMOST EJECTED FROM THE CAR WHILE I WAS TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE CAR CAUSED US TO HIT OUR HEADS AGAINST THE WINDSHIELD. I'M TERRIFIED OF DRIVING THE CAR BUT I HAVE NO OTHER MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. THE HEAD MECHANIC AT AN ALEXANDRIA LEXUS TOLD ME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATED ON MY MAKE AND MODEL OF CAR. HE SAID, AT ONE POINT LEXUS WAS FIXING THE CAR BUT HAVE SINCE STOPPED. I TOLD HIM THIS WAS NOT FAIR TO ME. I FEEL MY LIFE AND MY FAMILIES LIFE IS IN DANGER. I PAID LOTS OF MONEY FOR WHAT IS SUPPOSE TO BE A QUALITY VEHICLE AND ITS TOTALLY UNSAFE. AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE SUPERVISOR I BEGIN TO RESEARCH MY PROBLEM MORE. I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THIS PROBLEM IS RESOLVED? I'M SHARING THIS INFORMATION WITH MY FAMILY. IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO ME IN THIS VEHICLE, I WANT LEXUS HELD RESPONSIBLE. I HAVE CALLED THE CORPORATE OFFICE AND THE YOUNG LADY ON THE PHONE WAS RUDE AND NASTY. SHE TOLD ME SHE WAS LEXUS AND SHE WAS NOT GOING TO HELP ME AT ALL. THE RPM ON THE VEHICLE SWING ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT AND THE VEHICLE DOES NOT MOVE. WHEN THE VEHICLE MOVES, IT SHOTS LIKE ITS BEING FIRED OUT OF A CANNON. THIS IS DANGEROUS. I'M AFRAID!!! BUT I HAVE NO OTHER CAR TO GET TO WORK. I PURCHASED A NEW TRANSMISSION THINKING THIS WAS THE PROBLEM AND I'VE PURCHASED OTHER PARTS. NOTHING HAS WORKED. THIS IS SERIOUS AND SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO SOMETHING. I PAID OVER $40K FOR A DANGER TO MYSELF AND MY FAMILY. I HAVE TWO TEENS ABOUT TO DRIVE. I WANT MY CAR FIXED OR REPLACED. *TR
FOR THE PAST FEW YEARS, I HAVE NOTICED THAT MY DASHBOARD HAS GOTTEN VERY SHINY AND VERY, VERY STICKY, CAUSING AN UNSIGHTLY MESS AND, WORSE, CAUSING A DISTRACTING REFLECTION ONTO THE WINDSHIELD. I DIDN'T KNOW THE REASON UNTIL RECENTLY WHEN I SAW A REPORT ON THE NEWS OF NUMEROUS OTHER PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR LEXUS. *JS
ON MY 2007 LEXUS ES350 THE HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING; FIRST THE DRIVER SIDE WOULD FADE OUT AFTER DRIVING A WHILE AND THEN THE PASSENGER SIDE WENT OUT. CAR ONLY HAS 75K MILES. WAS TOLD BY DEALER THAT HID LIGHTBULBS CAN GRADUALLY GO OUT WHILE DRIVING AND NO WARNING LIGHT COMES IN THE VEHICLE. COST TO REPLACE 2 LIGHTBULBS WAS $460! SEEMS VERY UNSAFE TO HAVE HEADLIGHTS GRADUALLY GO OFF WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT! *TR
DRIVING ALONG I-80 AT MID DAY, NO RAIN OR WATER, CLEAR DRIVING. 2007 LEXUS ES 350 BEGAN TO ROCK VIOLENTLY SIDE TO SIDE AND SPUN OFF THE ROAD INTO MEDIAN FOR NO APPARENT REASON. *TR
I'M RESPONDING TO THE SEGMENT I SAW ON THE NEWS REGARDING THE MELTING DASHBOARDS. I TOOK MY CAR INTO THE LEXUS DEALERSHIP BACK IN 2010. THEY WERE NOT VERY FRIENDLY AS A MATTER OF FACT THEY TRIED TO MAKE ME FEEL STUPID BY TELLING ME THAT WHO EVER IS WASHING AND CLEARING MY VEHICLE MAYBE USING A CHEAP PRODUCT ON THE VINYL. AND WHEN I ASKED ABOUT THE AREAS THAT WERE NOT MELTING. I WAS TOLD THAT, THOSE AREAS ARE PROBABLY NOT BEING CLEANED. I WAS THEN ASKED IF I'M PRESENT WHEN MY CAR IS BEING CLEANED AND WHAT PRODUCTS ARE BEING USED. I CONTACTED LEXUS AGAIN THIS YEAR AFTER LEARNING THAT SOMEONE WROTE A STORY ABOUT MELTING DASHBOARDS AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY DIDN'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT AND IT SOUNDS LIKE WEAR AND TEAR. WITH THE DASHBOARD MELTING LIKE IT IS,LEAVES A BLINDING GLARE WHICH IN MY OPINION IS VERY DANGEROUS. MY HUSBAND AND I LITERALLY HAVE TO SIT FORWARD AND LOOK UNDERNEATH A LITTLE SPACING LEFT BETWEEN THE DASHBOARD AND THE WINDOW SHIELD. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD THAT THE REAR TRUNK BUTTON HAS ALSO MELTED. *TR
IN 2007, I PURCHASED A NEW 2007 MODEL LEXUS ES 350 4 DOOR SEDAN. SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, I NOTICED THAT WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS LIFTED AND THE CAR WAS DOWNSHIFTING AND BRAKING BY THE ENGINE (THE BRAKE NOT BEING DEPRESSED), AT ONE POINT THE CAR CONTINUED FORWARD FOR A TIME RATHER THAN CONTINUE TO BEING BRAKED BY THE ENGINE. THIS CONDITION HAS CONTINUED IN SPITE MY CALLING IT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE LEXUS DEALER IN NEW ORLEANS ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE FIRST BEING SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR, AND THE LATEST BEING ON JUNE 16TH OF THIS YEAR. IN EACH INSTANCE, I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THE CAR HAD NO PROBLEMS. THE PROBLEM IS NOT A RAPID SURGE, BUT RATHER A SUDDEN AND UNEXPECTED MOVING FORWARD IN GEAR INSTEAD OF A CONTINUOUS DOWNSHIFTING AND RESULTING BRAKING WHEN THE CAR HAS BEEN DRIVEN AT ABOUT 30 TO 40 MPH AND THE ACCELERATOR IS LIFTED. THIS PROBLEM DOES NOT OCCUR IN EVERY INSTANCE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR IS LIFTED, BUT IN TRAFFIC WHEN THE DRIVER EXPECTS THE CAR TO SLOW ITSELF THE SUDDEN FORWARD MOVEMENT, INSTEAD OF A CONTINUOUS SLOWING, IS DANGEROUS. THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE A FAULT OF THE CAR'S ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM. I ALSO CALLED TO THE ATTENTION OF THE DEALER THE FACT THAT WHEN THE CAR IS BRAKED, THE CAR DOES STOP BUT IF PRESSURE IS CONTINUED TO BE PLACED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THIS HAS NOT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT TO DATE, BUT IT DOES REQUIRE THE DRIVER TO PUMP THE BRAKE PEDAL TO MAKE CERTAIN THAT THE CAR WILL STOP. EACH TIME THIS IS DONE, THE BRAKE PEDAL CATCHES MIDWAY TO THE FLOOR. AGAIN, I WAS TOLD THAT THIS WAS NOT A PROBLEM. I REGISTER THESE TWO ISSUES AS POTENTIAL CAUSES OF ACCIDENTS AND AS COMPLAINTS ON MY PART. *TR
I INHERITED THIS VEHICLE IN JANUARY OF 2014 AND AS SOON AS I GOT IT I NOTICED THAT THERE WERE CHIPS OF THE FRONT DASHBOARD THAT WERE MISSING. I HAD NOTICED SAID DAMAGE/DEFECT WHEN I DROVE IN PRIOR YEARS DATING BACK TO 2010 OR SO. WHENEVER THE CAR IS OUT IN THE SUN, THE DASHBOARD GETS SOFT AND IF YOU TOUCH OR HIT IT WITH YOUR FINGER, YOU CAN GET SOME OF THE SOFT DASHBOARD UNDER YOU NAIL. IT GETS VERY SOFT TO THE TOUCH. IN ORDER TO AVOID ANY FURTHER DAMAGE, I NOW PARK MY CAR UNDER SHADE AND USE PROTECTIVE VISORS ON THE INSIDE OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELDS IN ORDER TO PROTECT THE DASHBOARD. I WAS SURPRISED TO FIND THIS COULD HAPPEN TO SUCH A NICE AND EXPENSIVE CAR. IT DEFINITELY IS A FLAW IN THE DESIGN MATERIAL OF THE DASHBOARD. *JS
DRIVER'S FRONT WINDOW MADE A CLUNK NOISE WHEN GOING DOWN AND THE WINDOW POPPED OUT AND WAS OFF TRACK. DEALER REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. TWENTY-TWO MONTHS LATER, SAME WINDOW MADE A CLICKING NOISE GOING UP AND DOWN AND AT THAT TIME, DEALER REMOVED DOOR PANEL AND FOUND LOOSE BOLT WHICH THEY TIGHTENED. JAN. 4, 2013, THE RIGHT FRONT WINDOW MADE A SIMILAR CLUNKING NOISE AND POPPED OUT OF ITS TRACK. WINDOW HAD TO BE REPLACED. DEALER COVERED LABOR, BUT NOT PARTS, WHICH AMOUNTED TO $500 INCLUDING TINTING. FORTUNATELY THESE INCIDENTS OCCURRED WHEN THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION. *TR
MY PROBLEM IS WITH THE FRONT DRIVERS WINDOW AND THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW COMING OFF TRACK AND THE WINDOW ATTACHMENTS BREAKING. LEXUS FIXED THE DRIVERS WINDOW AND NOW THE SAME THING HAS HAPPENED TO THE PASSENGER WINDOW. IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM THAT THE DEALER SHOULD RECALL
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LEXUS ES350. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK, THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO THE BRICKS OF A STORE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS LOCATED AT AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 46,000.
2007 LEXUS ES 350 - UNINTENDED RPM SURGE TO 6000 RPM OCCURRED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT STOP. IMMEDIATE ACTION TAKEN TO STOP THE ENGINE BY PRESSING THE STARTER BUTTON KILLED/CUT THE ENGINE. THE RPM SURGE WAS SUDDEN AND UNEXPLAINED - AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS NOT TOUCHED DURING THIS OCCURRENCE. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD PREVIOUSLY BEEN SERVICED FOR THE RECALL REMEDY ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V388000 (VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL: ACCELERATOR PEDAL). AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT THEN SHIFTED THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL GEAR AND APPLIED THE BRAKES. HE WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE ROAD AND TURN THE ENGINE OFF. WHEN RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED UNUSUALLY HIGH ENGINE RPMS AND BEGAN IDLING. THE ENGINE WAS SHUT OFF A SECOND TIME AND RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION WHEN IT WAS RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER INSPECTION OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,174 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,189.

THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LEXUS ES350. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, SHE NOTICED THE VEHICLE BEGIN TO SUDDENLY ACCELERATE. SHE DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. SHE STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AGAIN AND ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE FOR ABOUT TWO MILES. THE VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED AND THE CONTACT PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED HIM TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP. THE CONTACT WAS UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND OPTED NOT TO. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 14,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LEXUS ES350. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH WHEN THE SPEED INCREASED TO 80 MPH. THE BRAKES WERE ENGAGED AND FAILED TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP THE VEHICLE; THEREFORE, CONTINUOUS PRESSURE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL WHICH TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED FROM 60 MPH TO 80 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO SLOW DOWN AFTER EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS APPLIED TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF WITH THE REMOTE STARTER AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. SMOKE WAS ALSO COMING FROM THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER FOR INSPECTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED WITHOUT INCIDENT. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 27,211. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2007 LEXUS ES350. CONSUMER STATES UNINTENDED ACCELERATION *TGW THE CONSUMER DID RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL REGARDING ACCELERATOR PROBLEMS, BUT WAS NOT CONCERNED, BECAUSE HE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS PRIOR. HOWEVER, ON APRIL 6, 2010, AS THE CONSUMER WAS ABOUT TO MAKE A TURN, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY LURCHED FORWARD AND A RED WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS WELL AS THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE CONSUMER ABORTED THE TURN AND WENT STRAIGHT AHEAD AND TURNED INTO A GAS STATION. THE CONSUMER THEN TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND AFTER A MINUTE OR TWO HE RE-STARTED IT; BOTH THE WARNING LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AS WELL AS A LIGHT INDICATING LOSS OF TRACTION WERE ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY RESET THE COMPUTER AND THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED EVERYTHING WAS FINE. HOWEVER, 4 MILES INTO HIS TRIP, THE VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD AGAIN WHEN IT WAS MOVING AT ABOUT 20 MPH AFTER A STOP SIGN. THE CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT DAY AND UPON INSPECTION, THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE REPRESENTATIVE TOLD THE CONSUMER THERE WAS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM WITH THE SECOND GEAR AND THAT THE LURCHING OF THE VEHICLE WAS RELATED TO THE COMPUTER BYPASSING THAT GEAR. *JB
MY DASHBOARD MELTED WHICH IS CAUSING WINDSHIELD SCREEN GLARE AND OBSTRUCTING VISION TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC *TR
ON WEDNESDAY, MARCH 31 AT APPROXIMATELY 5:30 P.M., I DRIVING MY IN-LAWS 2007 LEXUS ES 350 NORTH ON MAIN ROAD, WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. THE GAS PEDAL MOVED AWAY FROM MY FOOT AND THE VEHICLE STARTED ACCELERATING AT FULL POWER. I IMMEDIATELY APPLIED THE BRAKES, BUT THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO GAIN SPEED. I ATTEMPTED TO CUT THE CAR OFF BY HITTING THE START BUTTON(IT HAS NO KEY). AGAIN, NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 55 TO 60 MPH BEFORE THE ACCELERATION AND APPROXIMATELY 80-85 AFTER THE ENGINE BEGAN TO RACE. THE BREAKS DID LITTLE TO REDUCE THE OVERALL SPEED; HOWEVER, PUSHING THE BRAKE PEDAL SEEMED TO REDUCE THE RATE OF ACCELERATION. I TRIED PUTTING THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL BUT THAT DID NOT STOP THE ACCELERATION. I HAD BOTH FEET ON THE BREAK AND WAS PUSHING AS HARD AS I COULD, BUT IT STILL COULD NOT REDUCE THE SPEED. AT SOME POINT, I TURNED ON THE HAZARD LIGHTS. I KEPT TRYING TO GET THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND TO HIT THE ON/OFF BUTTON BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NONRESPONSIVE. I WAS QUICKLY APPROACHING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME AND HAD DECIDED TO HIT IT RATHER THAN RUN OFF THE ROAD. JUST AS SUDDENLY AS IT STARTED, THE CAR JUST CUT OFF AND I COASTED TO THE NEXT SIDE STREET WHICH WAS OLD POND ROAD. IT SEEMED LIKE I WAS WITHOUT BRAKES FOR APPROXIMATELY 2-3 MILES.
FRONT END CRASH OF MY 2007 LEXUS ES 350 WITH A FORD F-150. MY CAR WAS TOTALED AND THE FRONT 1/3 OF MY VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED. THERE WAS NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT IN MY VEHICLE. LEXUS TELLS ME THAT THE FRONT SENSORS WERE NOT ACTIVATED BECAUSE I WAS IN THE STOPPING MODE WITH THE FRONT END DOWN AND HIT LOW ON THE PASSENGER DOORS OF THE HIGH PROFILE TRUCK. I HAVE PICTURES AND CAN PROVIDE. I FIND IT DISTURBING THAT THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY GIVEN THE EXTENT OF FRONT END DAMAGE AND I WOULD HATE TO THINK THAT ONE HAS TO HIT THE SENSORS JUST RIGHT TO GET THE AIRBAGS TO DEPLOY. IF NOT AN OUTRIGHT MECHANICAL FAILURE, THEN CERTAINLY A DESIGN DEFECT. *TR
2007 LEXUS ES350, WHILE PARKING VEHICLE CONSUMER STATED FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON VEHICLE MOVED FORWARD HITTING INTO A BLOCK WALL. *BF ACCORDING TO THE POLICE REPORT, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK. *JB
I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED ON MARCH 2010. AT FIRST I THOUGHT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD SPRAYED SOMETHING ON THE DASH TO CLEAN IT. THE DASH WAS REFLECTING THE SUN SO BAD THAT WE FINALLY BOUGHT A COVER AND INSTALLED IT. THIS HAS BEEN A LIFE SAVER! I SAW ANOTHER PERSON ON TV WITH THE SAME PROBLEM, AND THIS PROMPTED ME TO DO SOME MORE RESEARCH. IT IS TRUE THAT THE ENTIRE DASH BOARD IS MELTING! I HAD TWO RECALLS DONE ON MY AUTO ON MARCH 4, 2010. THESE RECALLS DEALT WITH THE ACCELERATION PEDAL AND AN OIL LINE. I BOUGHT A LEXUS ES 350 2007 MODEL (MANUFACTURED BY TOYOTA) IN NOVEMBER 2006 AND FROM THE VERY BEGINNING I HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING TO THE DEALERSHIPS ABOUT HOW THE ABS BRAKES ARE VERY SLOW TO RESPOND TO APPLICATION AND HOW THEY DON'T ENGAGE AS HARD AS THEY SHOULD. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE DEALERSHIP TESTED THESE AND REPORTED BACK THAT THEY ARE IN CONFORMITY WITH "TOYOTA STANDARDS" FOR ES 350 EVEN THOUGH THE OTHER LEXUS MODELS LIKE RX OR IS HAVE MUCH MORE RESPONSIVE BRAKES (I KNOW THIS BECAUSE THE DEALERSHIP GIVES US LOANER CARS DURING SERVICING). THE DEALER ALSO CONFIRMED THAT IT WAS ONLY THE ES 350 MODEL BRAKES THAT WERE SO UNRESPONSIVE. THIS TIME, WHEN I WAS GIVEN A 2010 ES 350 LOANER, I FELT THAT THE BRAKES ON THAT WERE MUCH MUCH BETTER AND WHEN I INQUIRED FROM THE DEALER HE TOLD ME THAT BECAUSE OF THE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS THAT TOYOTA HAD RECEIVED ON THE ES 350 2007-2009 MODELS, THEY HAVE CHANGED THE BRAKES ON THE ES 2010 MODEL TO MAKE THEM MORE RESPONSIVE. WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT REPAIRING OR REPLACING THE BRAKES ON 2007-2009 MODELS TO MAKE THE SIMILAR TO THE NEW 2010 MODEL BRAKES, HE SAID THAT TOYOTA WAS NOT DOING THAT, AGAIN BECAUSE THEY STILL ARE APPROPRIATE BY "TOYOTA STANDARDS". I BOUGHT A 2007 LEXUS E350 LAST OCTOBER. IT WAS PURCHASED FROM LUJACK LEXUS IN DAVENPORT AS A CERTIFIED VEHICLE WARRANTIED TO 100,000 MILES. THE CAR HAD ONLY 35000 MILES ON IT AT TIME OF PURCHASE. THEY CALLED WITHIN AN HOUR (ON A FRIDAY) AND ASKED ME TO BRING IT IN FIRST THING MONDAY. THEY TRIED TO TELL ME IT WAS THE ACCELERATOR GETTING STUCK ON THE MATS. I SAID IT WAS A COMPUTER PROBLEM NOT A MECHANICAL. THEY SAID IT COULDN'T BE BUT THAT THEY COULD PUT A COMPUTER CHIP IN THAT WOULD SHUT THE GAS OFF ENOUGH IF IT STARTED TO ACCELERATE LIKE THAT AGAIN. I INSISTED THAT THEY DO SOMETHING OR I WANTED MY MONEY BACK ON THE CAR. HE TRIED TO TALK ME OUT OF IT BUT I TOLD HIM WELL WHEN I END UP DEAD ON THE ROAD FROM THIS ISSUE, IS THAT WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM? IT SEEMS TO BE FIXED NOW. *TR
07/LEXUS/ES350/4DR FOR THE PAST 2 MONTHS, MY HEADLIGHTS HAVE BEEN GOING ON AND OFF. SOMETIMES WHEN I DRIVE AT NIGHT, THE LIGHTS WILL JUST GO OUT. THEN I AM LEFT TO DRIVE IN THE DARK. SOMETIMES IF I TURN THE LIGHTS OFF THEY MAY OR MAY NOT COME BACK ON AGAIN. IF THEY COME ON, IT IS ONLY BRIEFLY. THEN THE PROBLEM STARTS AGAIN. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. I AM FINE AS LONG AS IT IS DAYTIME, BUT AT NIGHT, THIS IS QUITE SCARY. THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THAT IT WOULD COST AT LEAST $500 DOLLARS TO REPLACE BOTH LIGHTS AND THAT THIS IS THE FIRST STEP BEFORE DETERMINING IF THERE IS AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 LEXUS ES350. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25 MPH WHEN SHE ENGAGED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE VEHICLE SURGED AND CRASHED INTO THE BACK OF A VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS CAUSED MILD INJURIES TO THE DRIVER WHEN THEY DEPLOYED. THE POLICE WAS CALLED AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE CONTACTS INSURANCE COMPANY PAID FOR THE VEHICLE TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND IT IS IN THE CONTACTS POSSESSION BUT SHE DOESN'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT. THE CONTACT DID RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE IN OCTOBER CONCERNING THE FLOOR MATS. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER THAT SHE DID NOT HAVE ANY FLOOR MATS IN HER VEHICLE AND HE STATED THAT HER VEHICLE WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000. OUT OF NOWHERE THE ES 350 LEXUS ACCELERATED IN REVERSE. I HAD TO PRACTICALLY STAND ON THE BRAKES BOTH FEET WITH ALL MY EFFORT TO STOP THE CAR WHILE THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. IT WOULD NOT GO INTO NEUTRAL OR DRIVE OR PARK OR TURN OFF DESPITE HOLDING THE IGNITION KEY. THE WHOLE INCIDENT LASTED ABOUT A MINUTE OR SO AND SUDDENLY, LIKE A SWITCH WAS HIT, THE ENGINE STOPPED RACING AND THE CAR BECAME IDOL AND NO DAMAGE WAS DONE TO ME OR THE CAR OR THE HOUSE. *TR

VEHICLE: LEXUS ES350 - 2007 PROBLEM: WHEN BACKING UP OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY OR ONTO A BUSY STREET, THE CAR STALLS WHEN SHIFTED INTO DRIVE. THE COMPUTER RESETS ITSELF WHICH COULD BE 5 SECONDS AND THE CAR NEEDS TO BE RESTARTED OR ENOUGH TIME TO BE CRASHED INTO. I HAVE HAD THREE NEAR MISSES AS THE CAR STALLED WHEN BACKED UP ONTO A BUSY ROAD. THE PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO BOTH MYSELF AND WIFE, SO IT IS DRIVER INDEPENDENT. THE LEXUS DEALER SAID THERE IS NO FIX. THEY CLAIM THE SOFTWARE IS EITHER A YES OR NO FOR REVERSE OR FORWARD AND THE "ROLL" BETWEEN THE TWO CAN NOT BE INTERPRETED CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL. THIS IS EXTREMELY CONCERNING DUE TO THE NEAR MISS ACCIDENTS. I UNDERSTAND IT IS A PROBLEM WITH THE ES AND IS.
